- 0:01Speaker 1: Jerry, Katie, and Josh.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Mix 100.
- 0:03Speaker 3: All right, so this morning as I'm getting ready for work,
- 0:08Speaker 3: I'm getting dressed and everything, and I'm standing in the bathroom, and,
- 0:11Speaker 3: you know, I'm getting ready to put my socks on
- 0:13Speaker 3: and stuff, and I look down, and my feet are
- 0:18Speaker 3: kind of whitish, and it's kind of like I got
- 0:21Speaker 3: this chalkiness to a couple.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Like more than usual?
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yeah, a little chalkiness to my little piggies.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 0:27Speaker 3: I'm like, what is, ugh, you know? And I reached
- 0:32Speaker 3: down and I kind of scratched some of the white
- 0:34Speaker 3: off my big toenail, off the big little piggy, the
- 0:37Speaker 3: little piggy that went to market. And I'm scratching, and
- 0:40Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, and it's in between my toes. And
- 0:45Speaker 3: I went, I smelled it, and I go, well, that's
- 0:49Speaker 3: Greek yogurt. What? Between the piggies? It's just a little
- 0:55Speaker 3: something that Nicole and I are into right now.
- 0:57Speaker 4: That's not where it goes.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I had Greek yogurt on my little piggies this morning.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Talk about protein, Maxine.
- 1:04Speaker 3: So, of course, I had been stretching, so I put
- 1:06Speaker 3: my foot in my mouth and sucked it off to
- 1:08Speaker 3: get my protein. No, so yesterday afternoon, I forgot about this.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I was getting some stuff out of the fridge, okay?
- 1:17Speaker 3: And teetering right on the edge was a Costco-sized thing
- 1:21Speaker 3: of Greek yogurt. And down it went. Boom! Hit the floor. Explosion!
- 1:29Speaker 3: One of those things where you say... So many cuss words. Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Because the lid blew off, the side cracked open. I
- 1:37Speaker 3: kid you not, there was Greek yogurt all over the kitchen. Yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 3: All over it. And apparently, I got a little in
- 1:46Speaker 3: my toes. And I didn't know it, and it just
- 1:51Speaker 3: dried overnight. So I woke up, and I had chalky
- 1:54Speaker 3: Greek yogurt all over my feet. But have you ever
- 1:57Speaker 3: been in that circumstance when... Something falls out of the fridge.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:02Speaker 3: And it's just like a bomb went off.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Well, and you got to have like CSI come and
- 2:06Speaker 1: clean it up because you don't know where that splatter went.
- 2:09Speaker 4: It's like everywhere.
- 2:10Speaker 3: So just this morning, yeah, just this morning as I
- 2:12Speaker 3: was getting ready, I went down to investigate and there's
- 2:15Speaker 3: still little splatters on the cabinets. There's a little on
- 2:18Speaker 3: the fridge still.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 3: It's everywhere.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I've told you this has happened to me in the
- 2:22Speaker 1: morning because I don't have my grip strength about me
- 2:25Speaker 1: quite yet when I'm like making my coffee. And I
- 2:28Speaker 1: have dropped complete half gallons of creamer on my floor
- 2:33Speaker 1: at four in the morning. And the only thing that's
- 2:36Speaker 1: worse than cleaning up all that is doing it at
- 2:38Speaker 1: four in the morning.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Before you've had your coffee.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Because you're groggy.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Oh, it's the worst.
- 2:43Speaker 1: So I've spilled a thing of spaghetti sauce, which again...
- 2:47Speaker 1: that's messy stuff right there, you know? Yeah, this has
- 2:51Speaker 1: happened to me multiple times.
- 2:53Speaker 3: The physics behind it, too, is fascinating. Yeah. That when
- 2:56Speaker 3: it hits, it just, it goes everywhere.
- 2:59Speaker 4: In every direction.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I mean, it's hitting the ceiling, it's hitting the cabinets,
- 3:03Speaker 3: it's on your feet. One of the worst ones that
- 3:06Speaker 3: ever happened to me was I made some chili in
- 3:09Speaker 3: the crock pot, you know, and there's a big, I mean,
- 3:11Speaker 3: a big bowl left of the chili from the night
- 3:14Speaker 3: before and I opened up the fridge and that baby
- 3:16Speaker 3: flew out of there and hit the ground and the
- 3:18Speaker 3: bowl shattered too. So then you've got shattered glass mixed
- 3:22Speaker 3: in with chili that floods the whole house. And that
- 3:25Speaker 3: just doesn't smell good at that point either. No, and
- 3:27Speaker 3: it stinks.
- 3:28Speaker 4: And now you've got to move.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah, now you have to put a house on the market. Exactly.
- 3:32Speaker 3: You've got to put that on Zillow that there was
- 3:34Speaker 3: an incident in the kitchen with chili. Yeah, it smells
- 3:36Speaker 3: like chili.
- 3:36Speaker 4: You've got to declare the chili incident before you sell it.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Lord help you. Like you said, with creamer or milk
- 3:43Speaker 3: or anything that's dairy-based, if you don't get it all,
- 3:46Speaker 3: and if it's going under the fridge, That's going to
- 3:48Speaker 3: be stinky in a few days.
- 3:50Speaker 4: And it gets in between the stove and the counter.
- 3:53Speaker 1: That stuff will find a way to make its way
- 3:55Speaker 1: into every crook and cranny.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Oh, and dairy is smelly.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Mom drama, mom drama. Llama, llama, mom drama. Oh, this
- 4:05Speaker 3: is so good. There's always so much drama going on
- 4:08Speaker 3: amongst the moms at school, I feel like. And this one,
- 4:12Speaker 3: I think, takes the cake or takes the Oreo, rather.
- 4:15Speaker 3: There's a viral social media phenomenon going on right now
- 4:19Speaker 3: called OreoGate. Now, it all started when a creator named
- 4:24Speaker 3: Ashley shared screenshots of a kindergarten class group chat where
- 4:30Speaker 3: another mother named Michelle... is demanding that all the other
- 4:37Speaker 3: moms stop packing Oreos in their children's lunches.
- 4:42Speaker 4: And other junk food stuff, right?
- 4:44Speaker 3: Yeah, specifically focusing on Oreos, though, because Oreos are not
- 4:48Speaker 3: allowed in their house. And her daughter, Ava, came home
- 4:53Speaker 3: crying because the other kids in her class have Oreo
- 4:57Speaker 3: cookies and she wasn't allowed to eat them at home. Now,
- 5:01Speaker 3: there's no allergies or other school rules involved, just a
- 5:05Speaker 3: disagreement over household boundaries. Now, some of the other moms
- 5:10Speaker 3: are starting to push back, but listen to this. Here's
- 5:13Speaker 3: what Michelle did over the cookies. Michelle emailed the kindergarten
- 5:17Speaker 3: teacher demanding that the school implement a strict approved snack list,
- 5:24Speaker 3: and the school flatly denied her request. Then, unwilling to
- 5:29Speaker 3: accept defeat, she reportedly got into the school somehow, maybe
- 5:33Speaker 3: doing something in the classrooms, and she actually searched through
- 5:37Speaker 3: some of the other children's lunchboxes to see what was
- 5:41Speaker 3: in there, looking for Oreos. She demanded that the school
- 5:46Speaker 3: and the teacher seat her daughter Ava away from any
- 5:51Speaker 3: of the Oreo lovers during lunchtime so Ava would not
- 5:55Speaker 3: be tempted. And the other moms are fired up over this.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:01Speaker 3: They're like, what the hell are you doing, Michelle? You
- 6:04Speaker 3: can't tell us what we can and cannot pack in
- 6:07Speaker 3: our kids' lunches. Now, furious over this, a separate text
- 6:13Speaker 3: thread was formed amongst some of the other mom squad members.
- 6:19Speaker 3: And here's what they did. During the sidebar chat, they
- 6:23Speaker 3: all agreed to collectively pack lunches two or more Oreos
- 6:28Speaker 3: in every single kid's lunch the next day, so they
- 6:34Speaker 3: upped the amount of Oreos, and one mother intentionally upgraded
- 6:39Speaker 3: her kid to double stuffed Oreos to maximize Michelle's frustration.
- 6:46Speaker 3: I am loving the drama back and forth here. So
- 6:50Speaker 3: that's kind of the question out there this morning. Like,
- 6:54Speaker 3: does Michelle have a leg to stand on here with
- 6:57Speaker 3: demanding that the school, the teachers, these other moms stop
- 7:01Speaker 3: permitting these junk food options in the lunches? Because it
- 7:05Speaker 3: makes her daughter sad?
- 7:07Speaker 1: Are you telling me Michelle actually went into the school
- 7:10Speaker 1: and looked through kids' lunches?
- 7:12Speaker 3: Sounds like it. That's what the story says.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Michelle's got control issues, I think.
- 7:16Speaker 3: And then what's she doing? Taking the Oreos out and
- 7:18Speaker 3: stealing them?
- 7:18Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 7:19Speaker 3: And throwing them in the trash?
- 7:20Speaker 4: No, you know she's eating those Oreos.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Come on. Is that what it is?
- 7:24Speaker 1: She's standing them down.
- 7:27Speaker 4: We know you're eating those cookies.
- 7:29Speaker 3: That's funny. But anyway, I'm loving this back and forth.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I'm loving reading about all this. And I know there's
- 7:38Speaker 3: probably people out there on Michelle's side saying, you know what? One,
- 7:43Speaker 3: you got to think about kids' health anyway, because that
- 7:45Speaker 3: is consistently listed. on some of the worst products that
- 7:49Speaker 3: you can eat is the Oreo because the amount of
- 7:51Speaker 3: food dye in it and food coloring. So I know
- 7:54Speaker 3: there's people out there that are like, you know what,
- 7:56Speaker 3: Michelle's probably right. There should be stricter guidelines in these schools.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Michelle's right about her own kid, but Michelle has
- 8:04Speaker 1: no right to preach her judgment on all the other
- 8:08Speaker 1: children who aren't hers. That's my opinion about that.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I know, but as a courtesy, don't you think the
- 8:14Speaker 3: other moms should just kind of band together and be like,
- 8:16Speaker 3: you know what, as a courtesy, we're all, you know,
- 8:19Speaker 3: it's the community. It takes the village. shouldn't they all
- 8:23Speaker 3: just be like, all right, we'll just stop packing Oreos.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Our kids probably shouldn't be eating those anyway.
- 8:27Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 8:28Speaker 3: It takes a village.
- 8:29Speaker 4: I think that's a huge reach of an ask for Michelle.
- 8:32Speaker 4: It's a massive ask.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I think that's way too much for her to ask. Truthfully,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I feel like I have stopped having expectations for other people.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Because when you stop, Michelle, expecting everyone to do what
- 8:45Speaker 1: you expect them to do, your life gets a lot easier,
- 8:48Speaker 1: you know? And so I think that, again, Michelle has
- 8:50Speaker 1: a problem with control, and that is the real issue here,
- 8:53Speaker 1: not what the kids are eating. It's about Michelle. It's
- 8:56Speaker 1: a big ask on her part, but it's the whole,
- 8:58Speaker 1: you know, you don't get it unless you ask for it, too. So,
- 9:01Speaker 1: I mean, she's putting herself out there.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I guess. What do you think? What side are you on?
- 9:06Speaker 3: Are you on Michelle's side who is saying, hey, we
- 9:09Speaker 3: need to ban Oreos and all the lunches? please help
- 9:12Speaker 3: another mom out. Or are you on the side of
- 9:15Speaker 3: Ashley and her other mom squad who is just packing
- 9:18Speaker 3: double stuffs now and saying, screw you, baby. I love Ashley.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Now you get five Oreos. I mean, that's bad on
- 9:28Speaker 3: the kid. Then the kid's pounding down five Oreos at lunch,
- 9:31Speaker 3: and they shouldn't be doing that either.
- 9:32Speaker 4: And here's some Gushers.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Yeah, right. Wash it down with a Diet Coke or something.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Here is Sarah. Hi, Sarah. Welcome to the show.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Hi, thanks for having me.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Oh, you betcha. Okay, so whose side are you on?
- 9:44Speaker 3: Are you on side Oreo or are you on side
- 9:48Speaker 3: no Oreo or side double stuff?
- 9:52Speaker 5: Well, I'm on side double stuff, but I also.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Think there's a subtext that we're missing.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Okay.
- 9:58Speaker 5: I think Michelle is.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Trying to prevent her daughter from feeling sad. Yeah. That
- 10:03Speaker 2: she doesn't have the Oreos, and I think parents do
- 10:06Speaker 2: that all the time, but it's completely unrealistic.
- 10:09Speaker 5: It is.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Can't you just find something that makes Ava happy in
- 10:13Speaker 3: her lunch and just give her more of that then?
- 10:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Yeah, or teach her how to process sadness.
- 10:18Speaker 3: There's also that. You're going to have sadness all through
- 10:21Speaker 3: your life, sweet Ava.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Wait till you're an adult.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Suck it up.
- 10:25Speaker 1: 100%.
- 10:25Speaker 5: It's Oreos now. It's losing a job the next time.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Exactly. That's exactly it. Losing a pet. Losing a friend.
- 10:34Speaker 3: This is minor in the world of sadness, right? It
- 10:36Speaker 3: really is.
- 10:37Speaker 2: 100%.
- 10:38Speaker 3: So I am putting you on team double stuff. No,
- 10:41Speaker 3: don't cave to Michelle's wishes, right?
- 10:46Speaker 5: And add the gushers.
- 10:47Speaker 4: And yes, Michelle.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Plus Gushers Sarah knows what's up, you gotta listen to Sarah, Michelle.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Sarah, thank you so much for calling in Here is Chris,
- 10:57Speaker 3: hi Chris Hi.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I'm, well go on ahead and say I'm definitely team
- 11:03Speaker 2: double stuff No spoiler there Just.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Wanna start it with that I'd like to announce to
- 11:08Speaker 3: the entire Denver Metro that Chris loves double stuff Alright buddy,
- 11:12Speaker 3: what are your thoughts on this though?
- 11:15Speaker 2: I want to also add they do have healthier options
- 11:18Speaker 2: to where you can actually trick your kid. They think
- 11:20Speaker 2: they're eating unhealthy snacks, but they're actually eating plant-based stuff
- 11:25Speaker 2: and don't even know it.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Oh, now you're really going to piss that poor Ava off.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Do they have plant-based Oreos now?
- 11:30Speaker 3: Yuck. Yuck all day long, Chris. How dare you even
- 11:35Speaker 3: bring that up?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Maybe actually spread that to parents and get them to
- 11:38Speaker 2: actually sneak healthier options into their child's taxes.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I don't know. Kids are pretty smart. They're going to
- 11:45Speaker 3: be like, what is this crap? This tastes like a plant.
- 11:52Speaker 3: In general, Chris, besides the healthier options, which side are
- 11:56Speaker 3: you on? You are on team double stuff, so what's
- 11:58Speaker 3: your reasoning behind that?
- 12:01Speaker 2: Well, I'm kind of anti just some weird, creepy parent
- 12:04Speaker 2: sneaking into a kid's lunchbox and touching all their food
- 12:09Speaker 2: and spreading COVID-19. Yes!
- 12:10Speaker 3: Is that what they're doing?
- 12:13Speaker 2: That's odd.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Michelle's got issues, right, Chris? That's an odd thing.
- 12:18Speaker 2: She's a little cray-cray.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Yes, she is! She's off a rocker. She's a little sus,
- 12:23Speaker 3: as the kids say. All right, Chris, we got you
- 12:25Speaker 3: on Team Double Stuff. We appreciate you calling in. Here's Marcy. Hi, Marcy.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Hello. How are you today?
- 12:33Speaker 3: Well, we're kind of craving some Oreos now.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I know.
- 12:36Speaker 5: I mean, me too. It's one of my favorites. You
- 12:39Speaker 5: know what? I'm a dietician, and I think it's insane
- 12:42Speaker 5: to not eat Oreos. I think it's all part of
- 12:46Speaker 5: a healthy diet, putting everything in there. And to start
- 12:49Speaker 5: doing that, you're causing some eating disorders for your kiddo.
- 12:52Speaker 5: Let it go. Figure out what's going to make your
- 12:54Speaker 5: kid happy. And what are you going to do when
- 12:56Speaker 5: the kid goes to high school? What are you going
- 12:58Speaker 5: to have the kids do then? Like every step is
- 13:01Speaker 5: going to be harder and harder for this poor kid.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:04Speaker 3: You're not going to be able to monitor it in
- 13:06Speaker 3: high school at all. I mean, remember in high school,
- 13:08Speaker 3: I had French fries every single day for like four years.
- 13:10Speaker 4: That vending machine saw me daily, Marcy. Like it was,
- 13:14Speaker 4: you couldn't stop me.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Seriously, model your behavior at home and then let her
- 13:20Speaker 5: learn how to eat and be social. Yeah. You're putting
- 13:25Speaker 5: her in a social box by herself.
- 13:28Speaker 3: She's alienating her child for sure.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I think so.
- 13:32Speaker 3: All day long. I think so. And this is coming
- 13:34Speaker 3: from a dietician right here.
- 13:35Speaker 5: This is coming from a dietician, yes. And are you
- 13:39Speaker 5: allowed to go through other kids' backpacks?
- 13:42Speaker 3: I know. I think she was caught, so yeah. Cuckoo
- 13:47Speaker 3: party of one.
- 13:48Speaker 5: I think that's a bigger issue than the Oreo.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I agree. Marcy, what are your thoughts on the plant-based Oreos?
- 13:55Speaker 4: You know what?
- 13:55Speaker 5: If you want them, have them. But I'm all about
- 13:57Speaker 5: if you're going to eat it, eat the real thing.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Absolutely. I'd rather throw myself into traffic than to eat
- 14:02Speaker 3: the plant-based one.
- 14:04Speaker 5: I just want the Oreo, dip it in the milk,
- 14:06Speaker 5: and call it a day.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Done and done. Marcy, we appreciate your call so very much.
- 14:11Speaker 3: We are out of time, but I can tell you
- 14:13Speaker 3: right now, everybody else on hold is essentially on Team
- 14:16Speaker 3: Double Stuff. Yeah. So don't cave to crazy Michelle. Don't
- 14:21Speaker 3: do it.
- 14:22Speaker 5: No.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Thank you so much for your calls and comments today,
- 14:25Speaker 3: you guys. I hope this one brought you a smile
- 14:27Speaker 3: with JKJ here at Mix.
