- 1:14Yeah, I'm excited, Josh. On the same wavelength, I'm also
- 1:18excited. Wow, that's crazy.
- 1:20What are the odds? Honestly, we.
- 1:22Got we got too excited and one angry.
- 1:26Just like it's it's just this this one name, we're going to

- 1:53well. Do we begin?
- 1:57Let's let's do a deal. But yeah, yeah.
- 1:59Yeah, I like it. Man, I'm excited alright #5
- 2:05because numbers 5:50 were on the previous episode.
- 2:08Nice little caveat there in the end.
- 2:11The voice. Yeah.
- 2:13So at #5 we've got, this is kind of hinted at the previous
- 2:16episode in a few ways, but we've got Aaron Ekblad.
- 2:19I'd mentioned that there were three Panthers on the list, and
- 2:21I mentioned we were gonna discuss which defensemen getting
- 2:24powerfully 1. So if any of you sleuths out
- 2:26there caught on to that, you probably see this one coming.
- 2:29Yeah. So we've got Aaron Ekblad.
- 2:30His 80P's 90. Last year he had 56 games
- 2:34played, 33 points, 1.9 shots, 1.6 hits, and 1.1 blocks per
- 2:38game. So there's a couple of reasons
- 2:41why this is a big trip. First of all, this is pretty
- 2:43high. I think for Ekblad.
- 2:44There's like a lot of good defensemen you can get around
- 2:46this or even later than this. So first of all, he's got the
- 2:50entry history. He hasn't played more than 71
- 2:52games since 2019. That's crazy right?
- 2:57Now, looking at that, I was like, that's a pretty good stat.
- 2:59And last year he only played 56. He's got that suspension history
- 3:03last year, 20 games for PED's, right?
- 3:06That's sketchy to say the least. You don't really want a guy who
- 3:10could just disappear for 20 games, not even by getting
- 3:13injured, you know? So there's that.
- 3:15And then the main one would be the power play.
- 3:18One quarterback role is not secured ever since the
- 3:20acquisition of Seth Jones. That's very contested.
- 3:23And then you've also got possible Stanley Cup fatigue.
- 3:26We had mentioned that the other guys, this is back-to-back cups
- 3:29three times finals in a row. That's a very real thing.
- 3:31At the very least, it can lead to injuries.
- 3:34And then also the Panthers power play doesn't rely that much on
- 3:37their defensemen. So what do you guys think about
- 3:40Aaron Eckhart Is a big trap. I just can't believe you called
- 3:44the listener sluts. That's why you suck on tell you
- 3:51sleuths and. Sleuths out there.
- 3:57I I totally, totally agree with this.
- 3:59This isn't the fiery one that that I'm not angry coming to the
- 4:03episode with pitchforks over. Yeah, not angry yet.
- 4:07Ekblad to me has been a trap for fantasy in his entire career.
- 4:11He was only power play one on the Panthers last year out of
- 4:16necessity because Monitor left mother had some degree of
- 4:19success. He wasn't, you know, like a Kao
- 4:21Makar or Quinn Hughes type guy. But ironic plot is not a bona
- 4:26fide power play 1 defenseman by any means and his back
- 4:29categories, you know shots, hits and blocks are definitely not
- 4:33elite enough to sustain his seasoned value like for the
- 4:38duration of the year. I wouldn't draft him in any of
- 4:41my league points or categories and I probably think Jones would
- 4:47win out the job. I think so.
- 4:50It doesn't even really matter like you said because it's not
- 4:52like the defence is going to guarantee you get a lot of
- 4:54points. But yeah, I would take Jones as
- 4:58a bet over Eckblad to to win that power play 1.
- 5:01So I think the main thing that you need to think of for fantasy
- 5:04purposes when it comes to defensemen is are they on the
- 5:081st power play on their team? Because we know how important it
- 5:12is to have those offensive defensive defensemen.
- 5:16Because getting power production from the defensive slots is
- 5:21really difficult because there's a lot of scarcity that goes into
- 5:23it, right? There's only 32 defensemen that
- 5:26are on the first point team. Then some powerplays just suck.
- 5:29So, um, if you look at where he's being drafted, he's if you
- 5:35look at in terms of defensemen, the defenseman ahead of him
- 5:38getting drafted as Roman Yosi and right behind him is shape
- 5:41Theodore. Like I just feel like seeing him
- 5:43in that conversation between those two guys is nuts.
- 5:48You don't. He should not be there.
- 5:50And I think once again, if you listen to the previous episode,
- 5:52I went on a whole rant about plus minus because of how much
- 5:55it influences certain categories.
- 5:58But if he's not in power play one, there's no chance he's even
- 6:01cracking .5 points per game in my opinion.
- 6:04And I mean, that's probably where he hovers at his ceiling.
- 6:08But if he's not on power play one, how are you drafting him
- 6:10ahead of guys that are like feed or that are dropping 20 more
- 6:13points than he is, that are shooting, that are hitting all
- 6:16these other categories when he's just there probably only four
- 6:19plus minus And he's getting you. He's not even getting you proper
- 6:22back cat back cats. When we talk back cats, we're
- 6:24talking banger categories like shots, hits, blocks for
- 6:27defensemen. That's like your bread and
- 6:28butter that's supposed to get the most production.
- 6:30He barely does any of those things compared to other
- 6:32defensemen get way later that contribute more.
- 6:35So I just think the value is way off on Eckblad.
- 6:37You know, obviously Florida is a great team back-to-back Stanley
- 6:41Cup champs, you know they went to the final three times in a
- 6:43row. But the defenseman on their
- 6:45power play unit just doesn't seem to be super valuable.
- 6:48Maybe if it's Seth Jones it will be, but we've seen Ekblad there
- 6:51multiple times already and he doesn't produce.
- 6:53So I'd be shying away and choosing multiple other
- 6:56defensemen ahead of him. Yep, big trap.
- 7:00I'm always honestly surprised that his ADP and I'd be
- 7:02surprised if he actually gets drafted that high.
- 7:04But I guess one reason that he's such a big trap and that he's
- 7:07ranked highly is people think, oh, back-to-back Stanley Cup
- 7:11champs, power play, one quarterback easy.
- 7:13Obviously he's going to be worth a lot.
- 7:14You know, so that's like something that people can have
- 7:16in their minds and not realize that he's actually not that
- 7:19good. I mean, I mean, to be fair, if
- 7:22you look at ADP, I mean, the next guy we're going to talk
- 7:24about #4 is right, right next to him somehow, which I also think
- 7:28is a huge trap. We'll get into that very
- 7:29shortly, But would you rather have, you know, Aaron Ekblad or
- 7:32like Sergachev? Sergachev.
- 7:35For sure, right? Would you rather have chicken?
- 7:38Yeah, honestly check in proved me wrong last year.
- 7:41Would you rather have Hudson Hamilton?
- 7:43Like, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:46Would you rather have John Carlson?
- 7:49Yeah, yeah. Riley.
- 7:51No, that's I. Don't like that's when no more
- 7:55Marner? You don't.
- 7:56He might be back on P1. Yeah, we'll see.
- 7:59That's a whole other can of worms and I wanna get into the
- 8:01whole side tangent. But all that to say, there's a
- 8:03lot, a lot of defence then I'd rather over Eckblad.
- 8:06There's no reason to take him this high.
- 8:08I honestly like, I'm not even that interested in having him on
- 8:10my team at all. You know, obviously there's a
- 8:12correct price for everyone, but there's some guys that unless
- 8:15they really, really drop, then I'm not taking them.
- 8:18And he's one of them. Last thing I'll say, we really
- 8:21focus on the averages on this works when we're playing fantasy
- 8:24ourselves, like obviously trying to make the best decisions
- 8:26possible. So we're trying to maximize high
- 8:29floors for our players. Explode hits 1.89 shots a game,
- 8:341.6 hits a game, 1.14 blocks a game as a defenseman that those
- 8:38were his stats last year. That's just not good enough.
- 8:41You can stream better, you can stream better production for
- 8:43those categories. And that's why I don't wanna pay
- 8:45up to have them on my team and then him have the name value of
- 8:47me being like, oh, I can't drop him.
- 8:49I drafted him so high. You know it's the worst bad pick
- 8:52and like some cost handcuffs on your team and your I can't say
- 8:58the F word but your F worded. Yeah, exactly.
- 9:01You're cooked. You're cooked.
- 9:03Let's C word. Yeah, no, there's nothing I hate
- 9:06more than drafting a big name guy and then every week all I
- 9:10wanna do is drop him. But I'm like, I can't drop him.
- 9:12He has the name value and then you're sending all these trade
- 9:14offers but no one's interested because they're garbage.
- 9:16So do yourselves a favor and don't draft those guys in the
- 9:191st place and then you won't be stuck with them.
- 9:22Listen to us. Alright.
- 9:24Let's move on to. #4 four. I was like, who's gonna say it?
- 9:32Oh wait, it's me. You're the guy, you're the one
- 9:34with. The he's the guy because he's
- 9:38like his 3D. He's got two things now.
- 9:41He's got the would you rathers and he's got the numbers.
- 9:43You know, it's, it's a lot. To get rid of me.
- 9:47There's like a larger. Word or.
- 9:48Cooked I need to tell you just real quick you said Spy Kids 3D
- 9:53Elijah Wood on IMDb it says known for Lord of the Rings
- 10:00facts the. Guy at least learn of the.
- 10:02Rings was the guy. Tangent Spike is 3D.
- 10:07That was the S word when I was younger and you know.
- 10:12I just think of other words if you're not going to say it
- 10:15anyway. That was the best thing ever
- 10:17when I was younger and I remember, I remember watching it
- 10:20like as an adult, like in my early 20s and being like, oh, I
- 10:23wonder if it like ages. It does not age at all.
- 10:27Completely ruined any memories you have of that movie if you
- 10:31watch it as an adult. So, so don't do that and just
- 10:33have the nostalgia. Yeah.
- 10:35And to continue on that tangent, do you guys remember Spike?
- 10:37It's 4D, the one where they had that like scratch and sniff
- 10:39thing as the 4th dimension. Though I really want to now.
- 10:44OK, maybe that's just me. Honestly, I might be.
- 10:48I might be mixing it up with another four movie that did 4D,
- 10:51but I remember it was a movie like when I was a kid.
- 10:53Where they gave. Me like this they gave you this
- 10:54like scratch and sniff like when you went to the theatre and
- 10:56three different times in the movie where they scratch number
- 10:58one to smell what they're smelling you know and that was
- 11:01the 4th dimension so. It's actually wild.
- 11:04Crazy. Anyways, Speaking of four
- 11:06dimensions #4 on this list is Noah Dobson.
- 11:10Montreal, Canadians. Imagine if we had a scratch and
- 11:13sniff for this podcast like we're like.
- 11:17Like. Could have scratched this.
- 11:23What we have to keep going standard has gotten.
- 11:31This OK, OK #4 Noah Dobson. Yeah.
- 11:33Alright, give us. His ADP is 81, which is also, I
- 11:39keep saying this, but this is like crazy ADP.
- 11:41That's about seventh round. Yeah, 7th rounds.
- 11:44Last year he put up 71 games, played 31 points, 2.8 shots, 1.8
- 11:48blocks. And we've talked about Dobson a
- 11:50lot on the podcast in the past couple of episodes because it
- 11:52was a big sign and trade and we're all Habs fans and it was
- 11:56just one of the biggest moves of the offseason.
- 11:58But we talked about he's gonna get buried in the lineup.
- 12:01There's no way he gets power play one over Hudson.
- 12:03And a reason that I think he's a big trap, like why people might
- 12:06be overhyped about it, is the fact that he had such a bad year
- 12:08last year and he has this big change of scenery.
- 12:11He's on a team that is way more offensive than the Islanders.
- 12:14And so people might just see them.
- 12:15They're like, oh, he was in a bad situation.
- 12:17He had a bad year. And then he got put in this
- 12:19completely different situation where he's on a much more
- 12:22exciting team. That must mean he's going to
- 12:24become good again like he was in the start of his career and real
- 12:27life. Yeah, I think he's going to have
- 12:28a great year. But because of that Hudson power
- 12:31play, one thing, I think he's gonna be a big trap.
- 12:34I I completely agree. I feel like we just had this
- 12:37conversation with Eckblad, right?
- 12:38Like when it comes to fantasy defensemen, what makes them
- 12:41super valuable is the power play production.
- 12:44And I feel this ADP reflects where Dobson would have been
- 12:47drafted if he was, you know, PP one on the Islanders like he was
- 12:49last year. But right now he's going to be
- 12:51P2 on Montreal. So it's a completely different
- 12:55scenario. I think you know his back
- 12:57categories may potentially improve honestly on in a. 2.8
- 13:02shots and 1.8 blocks is pretty good.
- 13:05I feel like his shots won't stay that high, but I'd be, you know,
- 13:08I'd be encouraged that they could the blocks, honestly.
- 13:12Blocks go. Up his blocks could go up is
- 13:14what I was gonna say. Like I could see him be a guy
- 13:16that doesn't hit much but gets over two shots over 2 blocks,
- 13:20which is somewhat valuable, but if it doesn't come with the
- 13:23points or the power production, you're kind of handcuffed into
- 13:26what you could be getting from those positions anyways, right?
- 13:28Like any defenseman that shoots over to a game is definitely
- 13:32noteworthy and you gotta have on your watchlist, but if they
- 13:35don't do much else, it's hard to really, you know, validate that
- 13:39and justify the value. I just think if Dobson is not on
- 13:42PP1, his value completely diminishes for fantasy and he
- 13:45should not be drafted this high. Like is he gonna be fantasy
- 13:47relevant potentially throughout the season?
- 13:49You know, there's a Hudson injury or somebody else gets
- 13:51injured. He somehow makes it on P1.
- 13:54But if he's on P2 for the whole year like you have to take him
- 13:57behind almost every other power play 1 defenseman.
- 14:01Yeah, I do think he's going to get a lot of ice time.
- 14:03So that's my kind of looking. How many?
- 14:06How many points does he get with that ice time?
- 14:0940 to 45 is definitely like, you could do better, yeah.
- 14:14Sure. Honestly, like I, there's a lot
- 14:16of guys on this list that I'm like there's such a trap that
- 14:18like I don't want anything to do with them.
- 14:20You know, like, but with Dobson, like seeing his shots and blocks
- 14:23and thinking about how I do think he's gonna get a lot of
- 14:26ice time. It's not gonna be power play
- 14:27time, but it is gonna be a lot of ice time.
- 14:29I think he could have solid brackets and I think he could
- 14:31get close to like, you know, like I said, like .5 points per
- 14:33game. That's a guy I don't mind being
- 14:35like my 4th defenseman out of four on my team.
- 14:37The only issue is that he's gonna get taken way too highly
- 14:41to get for it to be worth. Yeah.
- 14:42So that's kind of where it is with the traps, right?
- 14:44It's not. Totally at cost.
- 14:46Yeah I agree he's getting drafted before Lane.
- 14:48Hudson is the power play 1 defenseman for the team.
- 14:53I I expect that to change like I hope before the the actual
- 14:58drafts. Cause you saying you expect
- 15:00Cotton to get drafted earlier, not for the party.
- 15:02Like, yeah, like even 80P wise. But you're leagues, Hudson
- 15:05obviously is going to be drafted earlier, but I feel there's
- 15:07always those guys that are in your league that are probably
- 15:09not going to be as well researched or knowledgeable on
- 15:13the layouts of every team. And we'll just see Dobson's name
- 15:16at the top of ADP and we'll pull the trigger.
- 15:18And that's going to be a big mistake.
- 15:19I mean, also, like, people might see the fact that they made that
- 15:23trade and then signed him to that massive contract and they
- 15:25might see, you know, I love to say follow the money.
- 15:27You know, that's the same for years.
- 15:29But but but in this case, anyone who follows the Habs knows that
- 15:35it's Hudson's spot. So yeah, that's a big trap.
- 15:38Would you rather know adoption or Gus Forsling?
- 15:43Dobson. I take Dobson.
- 15:45Yeah, OK, fair. Do you have any names around the
- 15:49league for power? Like non power play 1 defenseman
- 15:52that you're happy to have on your team though.
- 15:54Yeah, Toronto lingers like raccoons, you know.
- 15:57OK, so it's not. In the Romanov.
- 15:59The one. That's yeah.
- 16:01So for me, the way that I see it is either you're taking a
- 16:04defence in because they're probably 1 and you want them to
- 16:06chip in points, or you're taking them because they're just a
- 16:08banger beast. And those are the guys that you
- 16:10can find on the waiver wire. They're guys you can get really
- 16:12late in the draft if they're not the elite ones like big names.
- 16:15Like obviously Gus gets taken like mid rounds in any Bangor
- 16:19draft because he just year after year is a monster at that.
- 16:22Trooper used to be like that. He had a pretty rough year last
- 16:24year. I still expect him to get taken.
- 16:26You've got like a Darnell Nurse similar thing.
- 16:28So there's. Guys Darnell Nurse or Noah
- 16:31Dobson. Dobson.
- 16:36Give me nurse. I think Nurse, yeah.
- 16:38I think there's less points than Dobson, but I I think there's.
- 16:41The certainty of the back cats. Yeah, Nurse will get you like
- 16:45almost twos for shots, hits, blocks.
- 16:48Yeah. Which there is a Hudson injury
- 16:49though I feel like. Having jobs but you can't draft
- 16:52the. Double than if there's a push
- 16:53cart injury. Yeah, as a.
- 16:55No, but I'm still, I'm saying you still gonna get 30 minutes
- 16:57of ice time. So it's like that floor to me.
- 16:59I like better. Substantial value.
- 17:03Dobson OR Devante Daves. Dobson OK Taves is like my
- 17:12quintessential like amazing IRL player but sucks for fantasy and
- 17:15he he's always like 90 something percent owned and I'm always
- 17:19saying it's crazy and then he always puts up like 7 points the
- 17:22week I play him so. A couple other like Dead 2 names
- 17:28like Dobson or Thomas Shabbat. I like Dobson honestly like as
- 17:34as far as D2GO I like Dobson. The issue is that I don't like
- 17:38taking a D2 in general. Like I said, I like taking the
- 17:40D1 or a big banger guy. Cuz for me like.
- 17:43My favorite D2 in the league who doesn't hit basically.
- 17:46I think I could say that with a decent amount of confidence.
- 17:48He got paid a lot. Of money, I got one, I got 1.
- 17:53Or Vince Dunn. I've got a D2 that I think
- 17:56you'll like better than Dobson that doesn't hit Thomas Harley.
- 17:59You mean that D1? But that's OK.
- 18:02I think he's they retain the power of place, but it's over
- 18:06here. I like, I like Harley more than
- 18:08Haskin and I think, wow, Carly, it's not like Haskins.
- 18:10Ever been some amazing? Wait did you say Harley getting
- 18:14drafted higher? Yeah, his projections are higher
- 18:16than his skin, that's why. Yeah, yeah.
- 18:18No, he was too good. He was amazing, like.
- 18:21OK, fine. Then he's going into the D2.
- 18:23Yeah, that's all that I was. Absolutely.
- 18:25He's going in. Honestly, that's close.
- 18:27I think he's gonna has notoriously been one of those
- 18:30fantasy defensemen that you kind of draft high and you always
- 18:32want more from. I, I think I want, I think I
- 18:38give me Dobson. Yeah, alright.
- 18:40By the way, I totally agree with this.
- 18:42I just think I'm higher than than you guys are on Dobbs in a
- 18:44little bit, but like the thesis is there.
- 18:47OK, this is this next guy though.
- 18:50Ooh OK the last one we're moving on.
- 18:53I would purr. Obli still like.
- 18:55Dobson, C I'd probably take Dobson as well.
- 18:58OK. Unless you think kind of
- 18:59powerfully 1. No, but Dobson OK.
- 19:03Next one. OK.
- 19:04Alright, time to get Jakey Madden.
- 19:07Number. 3. #3 is Jake's best friend. #8.
- 19:17Exactly. Spoiler.
- 19:19It is the great 8. The best goal scorer in the
- 19:22history of the NHL, Alex Ovechkin.
- 19:24His ADP is 63, which is about round 5 for a 12 man.
- 19:29And last year he had 65 games played, 73 points, 3.7 shots on
- 19:35goal and 1.7 hits. That's a monster year, right?
- 19:39And he did that at 38. Going into this season he's
- 19:43going to be 39. He broke the gold record last
- 19:46year, so now he doesn't really have anything to chase.
- 19:48I know Jake is gonna be like what about 1000?
- 19:50But you know, that's not happening.
- 19:51It's his last year in the NHL. He said that himself.
- 19:54He's going back to Russia after this year.
- 19:56So he's not gonna catch any other records.
- 19:59He the I think this is a big Josh opinion.
- 20:01I don't know about you guys. I think Washington's gonna
- 20:03regress this year. I think they're going to be I
- 20:05think there gonna make the playoffs, I think as a wild card
- 20:07and not as a as a top in the division.
- 20:10And yeah. And then without the standings
- 20:13buffer and the record to chase, they're just less incentivized
- 20:15to prioritize over over the team like they were last year.
- 20:20I think. We're gonna lose a lot of
- 20:22followers for that take. I can't even say that I blame
- 20:26them. Why?
- 20:30Why? No.
- 20:32OK, Please don't stop following us because we have conflicting
- 20:35opinions on this and you guys can decide who is right.
- 20:38The truth of the matter is, I did have him.
- 20:40Obviously. This is like creating a bias.
- 20:42I think he's amazing. He's basically been the most
- 20:45entertaining player to watch for 20 years.
- 20:47And the reason I actually like, I think I'm just higher on
- 20:51Washington than you. And all seriousness, I think
- 20:53they're very, very good team with like, a good.
- 20:58You have reason to believe that they're gonna regress because
- 21:01they were in the top in the league.
- 21:02Like maybe they'll be more middle of the pack, but I still
- 21:05think that they're going to be a good team and they're gonna feed
- 21:09Ovechkin the puck a lot. Also, I do expect his hits to
- 21:14slow down because he just doesn't really have, like, the
- 21:17reason for it. But I still think he's going to
- 21:19shoot a lot. So you're saying he's around 5
- 21:23right now? Yeah.
- 21:25I think you could go like it would take him out his cost, but
- 21:29you're right. I mean, there may be people who
- 21:32are gonna reach on him just for the name value.
- 21:34So I totally get why you would have him.
- 21:37There, I don't hate his ADP here, I mean I still would take
- 21:40him around or two later than that, but my main reason for
- 21:42putting him as a trap was less Yahoo's ADP and more because I
- 21:45think people will reach on him, people like you.
- 21:49Like honestly, like it, it's fair, though.
- 21:52It is. It's just, I guess like what you
- 21:54have to be prepared for. Like I like at his points.
- 21:56Look, I don't even think it's necessarily true that his points
- 21:59are gonna regress. It's just that the dynamic.
- 22:01Shots hits the same amount of points in the last year.
- 22:03There's no way. 73 and 65. Yeah, there's no way that's over
- 22:07a point per game. I don't think he has a point per
- 22:09game. This here.
- 22:09I mean like, look, lest we forget that he was injured.
- 22:14And do you think he finishes plays a whole year healthy at
- 22:16this age? Yeah, why not if, especially if
- 22:19he stops hitting as much. But he wasn't even hitting.
- 22:23If he plays a less physical. Game that much, I think the main
- 22:27question with Ovi is like he's been like the perennial power
- 22:30forward, right? The guy that you're getting that
- 22:31you're drafting is hitting, shooting almost 4 game, hitting
- 22:35almost to a game and is getting you a lot, a lot of goals.
- 22:40But I think this is the year that, you know, you can't expect
- 22:43that level of production. I mean, we thought it was last
- 22:46year and that's why you. Thought it was the last like 6
- 22:48years that's. It though, that's what I'm
- 22:50saying. Like he was one of the best
- 22:52draft values because of, you know, he got drafted.
- 22:54I feel like in a similar spot. I think Jackie got him.
- 22:57What did you? Think you got him around?
- 22:58Five, 3 or 4. I think 4.
- 23:01Four, and he was like a draft value at that point because he
- 23:04was like a top ten player for long stretches of the season.
- 23:07But this year if he's not hitting the same amount of
- 23:09points, I think his value significantly reduces.
- 23:13I think his hits, if they slow down, they slow down.
- 23:16But that's not the main reason why you have OV anymore.
- 23:18The main reason is if he's shooting above 3A game, he'll
- 23:21still hold his his proper value. I think he can hover around that
- 23:243 instead of being a 3.63.7. It's just about the points, like
- 23:29if you shave off 20 goals from his production, like that's a
- 23:32lot of points that he's missing this year.
- 23:34I don't think that's happening. I think he's gonna get 40 goals,
- 23:3830 assists, so 70 points in 82 games.
- 23:41I can see him hit like 3535 goals and you know you're
- 23:45thrilled if you're OV, but it doesn't no show.
- 23:50It doesn't validate the draft cost is what I'm trying to say.
- 23:53Like Jake? What round are you taking him?
- 23:55Yeah, five, OK, OK. In round five, he he's going
- 23:59slightly next to Philip Forsberg.
- 24:04No Forsberg. Brayden Point.
- 24:07Jacob Sanderson. Elias Petersik.
- 24:12This is Anthony. Sorelli, Ohe, Travis Konecny,
- 24:19Wyatt Johnston. Over Johnston.
- 24:22You're taking, you're taking OV over connecting.
- 24:25Yeah, why would I take connecting over Obi?
- 24:31Definitely close. Now honestly, I don't hate that
- 24:34from Jake, I think. That's definitely close.
- 24:37Like I said, I don't think Yahoo's ADP is off.
- 24:39I think more the fact is that people are gonna reach on him.
- 24:41Like if you get him round like 5-6, that's, that's a solid
- 24:45place to get him, you know, But I think people might take him
- 24:48around 3-4 and they're, I think it's a big reach.
- 24:50I just I just like Washington. I don't think they're going to
- 24:53have as big of a dip. Like that's the truth.
- 24:55Like, I mean, I get it though, Like you're right.
- 24:57I just look at the roster and like this is a good, good team
- 25:01and. I think last year, like all of
- 25:03their guys had like career years slash career resurgences.
- 25:07Everything just seemed to go right.
- 25:09Ovie, like everything he touched turned to gold.
- 25:11You know, like he was chasing that record.
- 25:13The whole team was chasing that high.
- 25:15It was just, it was kind of like one of those like team of
- 25:18destiny years for them. Obviously the playoffs, like a
- 25:21second round elimination. That's kind of what I felt they
- 25:24deserved in terms of how good their team is.
- 25:26And and yeah, I just don't see them performing that well.
- 25:28Again, like I said, I don't think they're dropping out of
- 25:30the playoffs, but I think they're going to be
- 25:33significantly worse than last year.
- 25:35Yeah, if it is his last year, maybe he would want to go out
- 25:38with a bang. Like, I know he's not chasing
- 25:39the record and that's obviously more of a milestone.
- 25:41At the end, he could, he could if he wasn't Chaser record.
- 25:43He's gotta chase the hits record and that would be fun to see.
- 25:47That would be. That's true, I forgot.
- 25:49About it for hits a game and you're just like, OK.
- 25:53He's not far from it, no. No he could be the guy because
- 25:56they only started counting hits like a couple decades ago so not
- 25:59like it's not old old stat. So he has a chance honestly to
- 26:04be like the the leading goal scorer of all time and leading
- 26:08hit. Or yeah, keep for sure where it
- 26:11comes from. Thank you for sure, like two
- 26:14more seasons of hell catch up. Yeah, all.
- 26:16Time averaging like 20 hits a game, yeah.
- 26:19OK, but wait, Ovi or or Tim Stutzel?
- 26:24Stitzel. Sticks all over your Jason
- 26:26Robertson. Over.
- 26:29I think I got over you. That's really tough for me.
- 26:31I know that having super low on Robertson.
- 26:33And. It's tough because I respect
- 26:37your guys's opinion. So, you know, like all his hate
- 26:40for Robertson is rubbing off on me, even though I think
- 26:42Robertson is gonna really good. Hear Give me Robertson.
- 26:44Just I gotta stick to my guns. Over your Marchenko.
- 26:49Marchenko. Easy.
- 26:51I love Marchenko. Yeah, yeah, same.
- 26:55He's like a mini pasta. It's like a little like ravioli.
- 27:00Marchenko Yeah, but it depends. Like listen, honestly, look, I
- 27:05think just one thing that I'll say is everybody on this top ten
- 27:08list and we have some spicy names for the next two barring,
- 27:13OK, if the truck has a healthy season, 2 trucks.
- 27:15Obviously the one who doesn't belong here the most because he
- 27:18could be like a first round type guy.
- 27:20But Ovie's the one who I consider to be the best.
- 27:24Like if you are gonna take someone from this list like OV
- 27:27is the one I'd want, especially over the next two.
- 27:30Yeah. Oversize Peterson.
- 27:33Patterson yeah, I mean. Yeah, Peterson.
- 27:38Listen, it's it's like, I guess the challenge here is, is like
- 27:42the the people lower than Ovi. Like do you take, do you take
- 27:46him? Because Peterson's where is
- 27:47around Ovo. He's also around 5:00.
- 27:50Yeah. They're going in very similar
- 27:52spots. I think OV goes like slightly
- 27:54before. Did you take over your Bennett?
- 27:59Ovi. Yeah, over.
- 28:01I think he's gonna get significantly more points, yeah.
- 28:04Alright, let's move on to the next one before.
- 28:06I'm still bad. Yeah, I get it.
- 28:09I get comment down of it now. You know, is there.
- 28:12This next one's gonna get me really mad, so it will be on the
- 28:14same level. It's just gonna give you trauma
- 28:16from last year. Yeah, exactly.
- 28:17It's made for a different reason.
- 28:19I put him on this list and furiously typed it in.
- 28:23All right #2. At #2 we've got my second round
- 28:28pick from last year who tanked my season.
- 28:31Roman Yosi I used to love but now hate.
- 28:36His ADP is 61 which normally you'd see that and be like what?
- 28:40That's crazy. You see the second round guy
- 28:42but. The second or third defence went
- 28:44off the board actually. Yeah, last year 53 games played,
- 28:4738 points, 2.8 shots, 1.8 blocks and I actually did some deep
- 28:52diving into this situation because I was like, hey, I'm
- 28:55really pissed because I had him last year and he screwed me, but
- 28:57I wanna make sure I've got some facts to back up my hatred and
- 29:01trap for this year. So first of all, his age you'll
- 29:04notice of a thing kind of trend with all these guys.
- 29:06They're all for the most part they're all like 32 plus.
- 29:09So the second they started hitting that like quote UN quote
- 29:12old age. Obviously for non hockey people
- 29:15that's just super chill age, you know, but there's a sports.
- 29:19Super. Chill.
- 29:20Yeah, Yeah. So he's 35 years old going into
- 29:24this season, but the big, big reason is the injury that he had
- 29:28at the end of last season. So it was called postural
- 29:31tachycardia syndrome. What it is, is when you change
- 29:34postures too quickly, you can get dizziness and faintness and.
- 29:39You change postures a lot when you play hockey.
- 29:41That is a great question, Kevin. Yes, you do.
- 29:45Doctor but confirm. Yeah, So the GM said that this
- 29:51is a quote with continued management and treatment, he can
- 29:54return to the ice for the 2526 season.
- 29:56So. The next thing on the ice, they
- 29:59just said to the ice. Yeah, that's not the part of
- 30:02pointing out. This is not like a decrypting
- 30:04message. What does it mean?
- 30:05You know, but it's with continued management and
- 30:08treatment. And then I was looking into this
- 30:10condition more and there's no like cure for.
- 30:13It's the type of thing that there's treatments and
- 30:14management strategies, but it's the type of thing that you just
- 30:17kind of have. So this is a big issue for a
- 30:20star athlete. You know, I'm sure he's gonna be
- 30:23able to play, He's gonna play most of the season, but I expect
- 30:26and miss sometime throughout the year, even if it's like load
- 30:29management, like that's what they need to do for him, you
- 30:30know, So I can see that and him playing through it somewhere.
- 30:34The whole Chuck thing where if he does play, it's gonna be a
- 30:36step back because of this injury.
- 30:38I don't think it's something you just shake off.
- 30:40I mean, he took, he missed like two months at the end of the
- 30:42year. You know, he was day-to-day for
- 30:43like a month and then they were just like, you know what,
- 30:45actually, they never said anything.
- 30:47This is another reason. Also horrible.
- 30:49So like they have reason to like manage.
- 30:52That's what I thought, right? I thought it was like, oh,
- 30:54nationals horrible. They're shutting him down to be
- 30:56safe. But then I looked into it more
- 30:57and I think they would have shut him down regardless.
- 30:59I don't think it was really up to them.
- 31:00And I think, I don't think it's the type of thing that you just
- 31:03bounce back from even like it's been a couple of months.
- 31:06I don't know, the age and the injury together makes him a huge
- 31:09trap for me. And I'm trying to keep my bias
- 31:10out of it. That's why I looked into it so
- 31:12much. Yeah, now that I've calmed down
- 31:16after the last one, Yoshi, I I totally agree.
- 31:20And we're all friends again. So.
- 31:23So to me, yeah, wouldn't go near him at this draft cost.
- 31:27It's crazy to me. It's just too high.
- 31:30It's just wild because. If you like around 5:00.
- 31:32I was gonna say, if you look at the Adps like guys that are
- 31:34going around him, like would you rather have your here Josh
- 31:38Morrissey? I think more to see this.
- 31:42Right. OK, you'll see.
- 31:44Or Drew Dowdy. What I'm saying something Yoshi
- 31:48over doubting. Yeah.
- 31:50You're right, the three guys, if I'm gonna I'm looking at, you
- 31:53know, my projections for league that has plus minus.
- 31:56You gotta get this plus minus out of here.
- 31:58Man, I know, but I'm just saying a lot of people playing leagues
- 32:00that have plus minus, right? So that's why I'm saying, OK,
- 32:03let's look at what it looks like.
- 32:04It's Josh Morrissey, Yoshi, Noah Dobson, Aaron Ekblad, Gus
- 32:08Forsling who is a plus minus God, and then Drew Doughty.
- 32:13Yeah. I didn't realize we're looking
- 32:15at plus minus leagues though. That throws all of this out of
- 32:17for sure. For sure.
- 32:19But it's just something to keep in mind that like, even in a
- 32:22plus minus, you're gonna see, you'll see.
- 32:26Honestly, you'll see even worse because he's on Nashville and
- 32:28they're. Exactly with negative plus
- 32:31minus. Yeah, for sure.
- 32:34Yeah. The thing is like, is he topped
- 32:36in defence this year? No, no, like I'm, I'm thinking
- 32:44so Makar, Oranski, Daleen, Quinn, Hughes, Wieger, that's
- 32:49five. Give me Bouchard.
- 32:50Top your head, Yeah. Me, Sanderson, that's seven.
- 32:54Give me Headman, that's 8. Like, do you take Fox?
- 33:00I'm not the biggest Fox fan in bangers but honestly I take him
- 33:02over Yoshi this year. In bangers, yeah, I think.
- 33:05Yeah, load management, though, it's the worst.
- 33:08Yeah, if they do that, it's like going to screw up everything.
- 33:11I mean like, I'd probably rather chicken over Yoshi as well.
- 33:14I mean most Syrian. Hudson too.
- 33:16Would you think most cider spider?
- 33:18For sure, yeah. We said Josh Morrissey that's so
- 33:22he's in that like 11 to 15 probably range.
- 33:26And I think that the the thing that really keeps this value is
- 33:28the shots, right? But like.
- 33:30Yeah, he's a great. Shooter that's that's one of the
- 33:32reasons why he's so leave. He almost shoots that 3.
- 33:34Again, I mean, he's historically he's an amazing player.
- 33:37It's this is the first year ever that like, you know, that I'm
- 33:40like, stay away. It's really that injury that
- 33:42that kind of like scares me. The age and the injury together
- 33:45and and the fact that Nashville sucks.
- 33:47It's really kind of at the point where it's like, obviously,
- 33:49again, as we preface a million times in these this top ten,
- 33:52it's for the right price. Anyone's worth it, especially
- 33:54someone historically as good as the OC.
- 33:56But why take a risk eye on a guy like this with so many question
- 34:00marks when you can get like more of a sure thing?
- 34:01Where, where? Where does he have to fall for
- 34:03you to be interested? I'll take him around like 90th,
- 34:07so that would be like rounds 7. Like that's around like Charlie
- 34:12McAvoy ish. Yeah, like I would take over
- 34:15McAvoy. OK, all right, let's get.
- 34:17Let's get 2 for one. All right #1 the biggest trap of
- 34:25the year, and I like this one because I think it's a real
- 34:28trap. I think like a lot of people are
- 34:30going to fall for this one. And historically been very good.
- 34:32And enough preface, I'll just say it.
- 34:34Mika is a bandage ad from the New York Rangers.
- 34:37His ADP in our league settings is 2520.
- 34:42Five and we played A14 team league.
- 34:45That's a second round pick. Yeah, that's like mid second
- 34:48round. Last year stats were 82 games
- 34:51played, 62 points, 2.2 shots per game and 6.7 faceoff wins.
- 34:55And let's not forget that the Rangers were doing everything in
- 34:57their power to get him off the team for a certain amount of
- 35:00time at the end of the season when their whole season was
- 35:01collapsing. Like this is this is a guy that
- 35:04I feel like has lost, really has lost his favor with with the New
- 35:08York Rangers. And I think they've moved on to
- 35:11other things. I think JT Miller kind of like
- 35:12is the news of manager for that team.
- 35:14And you know, no Crider either. And Crider was a big reason why
- 35:17the bandage had had a lot of chemistry with his line mates.
- 35:21And I just feel like he's the guy that's gonna get bumped off
- 35:25P1 for LCC Lafreniere. And then what happens is value.
- 35:29If he's not on that P1 It's it's it's it's C word cooked.
- 35:35Finally, what you could say yeah.
- 35:38And then there's also the fact that for face off when leagues
- 35:41right, like he's often he's usually been like one of those
- 35:44like sees who like not only will put up great points, but he's
- 35:47been greater faceoffs and now all of a sudden he's either
- 35:50gonna be the 3C or he's gonna be the line 2 right wing.
- 35:53So regardless, that's eating into his faceoffs a lot.
- 35:56And then you would mention this the Crider trade Zibanejad and
- 36:00Kreider played together power play, even strength and
- 36:02shorthanded. They were like connected at the
- 36:05attached at the hip for almost a decade.
- 36:08So that trade is a big loss. I saw, I saw an interview with
- 36:12Mike Sullivan, who got hired as the coach and he had spoken with
- 36:15Savannah Chad after getting hired and, and he mentioned
- 36:18Sancho saying, yeah, you know, I've been developing a bit of a
- 36:20chemistry with Miller. So that would be cool to play on
- 36:22his right wing again. So they might try him out like
- 36:24that. And he, Sullivan also said, you
- 36:25know, having him as a 3C is also really great because of having
- 36:28that centre depth. But like he's talking about
- 36:30having to build that chemistry up, you know, as opposed to in
- 36:33the past years, he's had 9-10 years or whatever to, to build
- 36:36up that chemistry in the 1st place.
- 36:38So it's going to be a big hit to his value.
- 36:40And then there's Lafreniere's like on his tail for Power Play
- 36:421 and he's 32 years old. Added to the to the ages and
- 36:46lawsuit against us, you know. I can see being traded this
- 36:51year. You do see him being.
- 36:53Traded. I I could see him being traded.
- 36:55I, I wouldn't be shocked, but there's just so many other guys
- 36:58I'd rather at this cost. There's no chance of taking him
