- 0:58How? Cool was that intro song.
- 1:01How cool is the new cover art? How cool are we?
- 1:05How cool's the new podcast name? Guys, welcome to Amigos.
- 1:09Afraid Afraid the rebrand. Season 3 Episode 1 numbers are
- 1:13going to continue just the way they've been coming, but this
- 1:16has been in the making for so long.
- 1:19Yes, it has. Brian and I finally hit the the
- 1:22writers room, the green room. The Enchanted Forest, The coffee
- 1:27shop where we were. And we locked in.
- 1:30Yeah, we just locked in. We brainstormed, multitasked.
- 1:33Shout out to Matt and Frenchie for providing that amazing one
- 1:37of one song. Isn't it perfect?
- 1:39It's amazing it. Fits us so well.
- 1:41It's, it's just, it's great. It's a masterpiece.
- 1:43It literally laid the first brick of where we're going with
- 1:46our direction immediately after with the entire photo shoot that
- 1:50we had to do for the cover. And there's extra photos that
- 1:53you guys are going to see in the future.
- 1:55But big shout out to Melissa Luce.
- 1:58Liz, you guys were so impactful in your opinions.
- 2:03Yeah, it was a little hard to take direction from other people
- 2:06in the moment. I will, I will admit and I will
- 2:09apologize, but everything came out so cool.
- 2:13As we said, sometimes having a lot of cooks in the kitchen
- 2:16create masterpieces so shout out to y'all.
- 2:19Thank you so much, These pictures are so good.
- 2:21It was all done with a budget lesson.
- 2:24Free. The budget was free a dollar.
- 2:27Thank you to all our friends who are so willing to help us out
- 2:31and support us in any way they can.
- 2:33Yes, music production. That is a skill I don't have.
- 2:37I am so impressed with Matt and Frenchy.
- 2:39I got to say something real quick because we received the
- 2:41file with quite a few songs on their original songs, which is
- 2:45amazing, and the one they recommended was the one we ended
- 2:49up choosing with. Like it's like they knew they
- 2:51were like this is the one. I'll be honest, it took one
- 2:53listen. They said this is the one that
- 2:55we like. I listened to it.
- 2:56I didn't have to listen to the rest because I knew instantly
- 2:59that that was the vibe. Yep, I remember my first text of
- 3:01Brian was Yep, that's the one. And man, I love it.
- 3:05I love it. I hope you guys like it too.
- 3:07And if you don't, then we don't care because we love it.
- 3:11So thank you again, Madam Frenchy.
- 3:13Thank you again, Liz. Melissa Dulce.
- 3:15Yeah, Melissa, photographer Dulce are a lighting person and
- 3:19vibe setter, and Liz the hand model.
- 3:22The hand model, and that was a real human hand, guys, that was
- 3:24not a prop. Freshly polished bright red.
- 3:27We don't have a props department.
- 3:28So that was a real. So thank you all and thank you
- 3:31for listening. Thank you for tuning in.
- 3:33Yeah, you guys support us every single week.
- 3:36Everything is changing. So if you're going to look for
- 3:38us on social media today, please know that the handles have
- 3:41changed for everything. Our Instagram is now Amigos
- 3:43Afraid. The TikTok is Amigos Afraid.
- 3:46Yeah, we don't have a website. Once we do, it will be Amigos
- 3:50Afraid. Yes, yes.
- 3:52Whatever is free, whatever is available, we're.
- 3:54Keeping our original name as a How, how, what's like, What's
- 3:57the word? To I would say it as like just a
- 3:59a production company. There you go.
- 4:01That's our production. That's our main production.
- 4:02That's our origin. Amigo's Afraid, put forth by the
- 4:06brains of the Daily BJ. But this is the future, the
- 4:09future is now. We're excited that you're a part
- 4:12of this journey. I'm super excited.
- 4:14I told Brian before we started. I feel like the first time we
- 4:17picked up the mics and started recording just like like, I
- 4:20don't know, I'm just nervous. I'm.
- 4:22I'm giddy. I'm.
- 4:23Excited perfect. So it's it's it's really special
- 4:26guys. Thank you SO.
- 4:27Much We have a lot of fun plans in the future.
- 4:29We're trying to put forth as much video content as we can.
- 4:32We just have to shoot it. It's a little hard because we
- 4:34are very busy people. But if you're new here.
- 4:37Hi, this is Amigos. Afraid my name is Brian.
- 4:40And I'm Jerry. And we are your weekly a a
- 4:44meeting, not that one. Not that one, guys.
- 4:47Not that one. I know what you were thinking.
- 4:49But we're not that one. It's.
- 4:49Not that one. It's this one, Amigos afraid.
- 4:54Content is going to stay relatively similar.
- 4:55Whatever weird topic, paranormal just out there.
- 4:59Unusual thing that's been haunting us that week.
- 5:02Quick roundup of our week. Sherry's been putting me through
- 5:05the gym and I told him today friend, I will stop complaining
- 5:10and just do as I'm told. I will be putting my bratty
- 5:13personality aside just while we're in the gym.
- 5:16I will still complain once I'm out of how much I'm in pain,
- 5:19which is right now. It was so hard to shampoo my
- 5:22head like an hour ago. What I told Brian is all the
- 5:27pain that he's feeling is, is temporary.
- 5:29You know it's all going to go away.
- 5:30And when it stops hurting, that means your muscles ripped and
- 5:35peeled with more muscle. So he's building that.
- 5:39He's building that strength. But while he's in the gym, it's
- 5:42all love. You know, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm
- 5:43doing this out of love. I'm not putting a gun to his
- 5:46head. He's waiting for me to pass out.
- 5:49It's happened before. Not with me.
- 5:52That was before. Yet yet.
- 5:55But it's been fun. It's been fun.
- 5:57I I appreciate the commitment. And don't get me wrong, you'll
- 6:00still, yeah, I know you mentioned you're still going to
- 6:03complain after, that's cool. But during it's, it's
- 6:08fulfilling. I'm sending some really angry
- 6:10text messages every morning that I wake up and it hurts to
- 6:13freaking just stand up. Good.
- 6:16That's the whole point. And then you'll see the progress
- 6:20and it's all worth it. You have any highlights of the
- 6:23week? It's only been a couple days.
- 6:25It's only been a couple days, kind of, but it is Thursday.
- 6:29I Let's see. We played one shot.
- 6:32We did play A1 shot. Shout out to Dulce RDM.
- 6:35Yeah, new people, if you're here, we love Dungeons and
- 6:37Dragons. We play weekly.
- 6:39It's amazing. Great group of people.
- 6:42It was a one shot that finished in a couple hours which is
- 6:46awesome. Shout out to Dulce once again
- 6:47for that. It was so fun.
- 6:48We played gnomes and it was very silly.
- 6:52It was great. I put on a whole deep voice.
- 6:54I don't know if I told you but that night I want to sleep with
- 6:57my throat hurting. I had to take some calls because
- 7:00I was talking like this for hours.
- 7:05It was so good, everyone had a great character.
- 7:07I played a little Chamaco Mocoso 'cause it's the funniest thing
- 7:12to do when you're a little gnome and I did not wake up with a
- 7:15sore throat. Must be nice.
- 7:16But I was influenced and inspired by that one TikTok of
- 7:21the audio that's like, I like bugs.
- 7:25I have a string in my pocket. My daddy makes me smoke
- 7:29cigarettes if I don't eat my spaghetti or spaghetti.
- 7:32I have never seen this. You're not.
- 7:34It's my curated. This is for you only the tik
- 7:38toks you watch right before bed that really affect your.
- 7:40Psyche fucking send me down a rabbit hole.
- 7:43Funny ass content. So it was really good, but it
- 7:45was a really fun one shot. I had a had a great time.
- 7:47Oh, I don't know if we brought it up last week, but guess who
- 7:50is back on TikTok with their bird content?
- 7:54Jerry, who putting you on the spot?
- 7:59Come out yourself. Hey, thanks.
- 8:01Yeah I also have a bird page. I I found the password to my
- 8:06second account which is OC Osprey and that's OC dot Osprey.
- 8:13I have like 3 videos on there right now but the most recent
- 8:16one was from the time you went to Palm Springs and it was the
- 8:20first time I saw an American Kestrel which is our smallest
- 8:23Falcon. Teeny tiny.
- 8:25Tiny and it's it was so amazing. I had all these videos.
- 8:29If you see on there, it's just it's a bunch of videos I have
- 8:32hoarded on my phone, but they're not the greatest quality, but
- 8:34they're fucking fun. And yeah, expect cool things.
- 8:38I have so much more. Follow me on Tiktok.
- 8:40I'll see Osprey. It's a picture of me.
- 8:43You'll see me right away. And he looks so handsome in that
- 8:46picture. It's an action shot.
- 8:47Exactly. It's an action shot.
- 8:49We all know it's Jerry. So yeah, that's been fun.
- 8:51Don't know it's Jerry from Amigos Afraid podcast.
- 8:53Amigos afraid. I can't stop saying it a a
- 8:56meeting it. Rolls off the tongue.
- 8:59It's so good, guys. We love it.
- 9:00We love it. Had a lot of different options
- 9:03that our friends are very honest in their opinions of.
- 9:05Like that's boring. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:07We, I appreciate it. Thank you so much.
- 9:09It helps us, you know, decide it it it helped us get here.
- 9:13Yeah. So it was meant to happen.
- 9:14We waited until the last minute. We gave 3 hours of our time to a
- 9:19coffee shop and just stared at each other until something
- 9:22clicked. At the end of the day, we're
- 9:25just two amigos talking about ghosts, haunted places, every
- 9:29weird thing that makes you remember why you were afraid of
- 9:31the dark. So thank you for being here.
- 9:35Kick your legs up. Join us on this crazy journey to
- 9:38be afraid, friend. With that being said, what
- 9:42haunted you this week? Guys, I went to the library.
- 9:46What I know he reads in person. Normally I check out my books
- 9:50electronically, but this time I'm like, it's Saturday.
- 9:52I got time to kill. You left your house.
- 9:55I left my house to go to the library.
- 9:57That's amazing. Good.
- 9:58I know I got there really early. They weren't even open yet.
- 10:01There was a line to get in. It's a popular.
- 10:03Place, Yeah. People love libraries.
- 10:05They love that. We love the support your local
- 10:07libraries. But I went on a mission last
- 10:09Halloween. There was a book called
- 10:11Fullerton Ghosts, and Fullerton is in our area.
- 10:15And I thought that's very specific.
- 10:16I want that book. Let me go check it out.
- 10:19When I go on their website, it tells me that it's available for
- 10:22check out and it's in a certain part of the library, Dewey
- 10:25Decimal system. OK, OK, I go.
- 10:27I try to find it. It's not there.
- 10:29What? I go to the library clerk and
- 10:31I'm like, hello, excuse me, Sir, I would like to find this book.
- 10:34And he said, oof, where'd you take a picture of that?
- 10:38And I'm like, here, I know you have it.
- 10:40And he said, oh, it doesn't have a barcode from the picture.
- 10:43So that's probably in our local history section, not to be
- 10:46checked out. He goes over, oh, local history
- 10:50is closed for today. You have to talk to our local
- 10:53historian. So I will be making a meeting or
- 10:56emailing this local historian because I want that book.
- 10:58That is so cool, he said. That's an all restricted
- 11:01section. You'll have to have a permission
- 11:03slip. He's like stretched out his
- 11:06hand. Well, who's your parental?
- 11:08Guardian Yeah. Are you at least of age 18 years
- 11:12or older? You with a full ass beard?
- 11:15Because I only for 18 years and not an old.
- 11:19You're like, yes. You know what was shady though?
- 11:22There was two people standing in there just on computers and I'm
- 11:25like in the in the local history room.
- 11:29Was I prejudice against? Didn't think about that until
- 11:33now. Fullerton Library.
- 11:33You got some explaining to do. Well, unless they're workers,
- 11:37they didn't. Have like, yeah, let's give them
- 11:38the benefit of the doubt. Maybe that's their office space
- 11:40when it's not being used, as you know, when it's not open to the
- 11:43public. But with these trying times,
- 11:45what else am I going to be thinking?
- 11:47That's so true, it's a recession indicator.
- 11:51Local. What are the history offices
- 11:54used as an office space? But it was not too bad of a day
- 11:59because I did go into their like little supernatural section,
- 12:02which was maybe 15 books, but there was at least two of them
- 12:05that were very interesting. The first is Paranormal
- 12:09Encounters, which is interesting because there's no author listed
- 12:13what in any of the pages, no. Way.
- 12:16So I'm like, hello, it just mentioned some sort of society.
- 12:20Not society, it says by the editors of Time Life Books and I
- 12:25don't see literally anyone's name anywhere.
- 12:29I didn't look that deep either, but.
- 12:32He has been cool. He has been like keeping these
- 12:35from. Yeah.
- 12:37So this week's episode is brought to you by information I
- 12:40found in one of these books, which is the second one called A
- 12:43History of Ghosts, The True Story of Seances, Mediums,
- 12:47Ghosts and Ghostbusters by Peter Akroyd with Angela Narth.
- 12:52This book is written by, I think, the brother of the person
- 12:55who wrote Ghostbusters. What?
- 12:58And the entire thing came about is because they're a great
- 13:01grandpa, I think, who's a dentist that was just mentioned
- 13:06the entire time. That's already scary.
- 13:07DDS was super involved in like, spiritualism of the time, of
- 13:14like the late 1800s, early 1900s.
- 13:18And there was a portion that really interested me, and it was
- 13:21about Thomas Edison and his connection to ghost.
- 13:26So I'm like, wait, I need to do some more research.
- 13:28Let me keep reading. OK, OK, OK.
- 13:30So that's what haunted me this week, the fact that Thomas
- 13:32Edison is involved with what we now know as electronic voice
- 13:35phenomenon. That's so cool.
- 13:39I brought out my iPad for this. We're serious podcasters.
- 13:43We're not playing anymore. We've talked about Evps before,
- 13:49and if you've ever seen any kind of ghost hunting show, you know
- 13:53it's what's the main form of ghostly evidence aside from
- 13:58capturing. Aside from capturing something
- 14:00on video, If you get an EVP that means Oh my God, ghost hashtag
- 14:04confirmed. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:06EVP stands for an Electronic Voice Phenomenon, which the
- 14:09author describes as a recording of a voice for which there is no
- 14:16known source. The idea is pretty simple.
- 14:20You ask questions out loud into an audio recorder, or even just
- 14:23leave a recorder out in an empty room and see if a voice is
- 14:27picked up. If it is, that's what's
- 14:31considered an EVP. There's a recording of a voice
- 14:35with no person there to track it too.
- 14:39OK, simple enough. I have seen this used hundreds
- 14:44of times across a bunch of ghost hunting shows like Ghost
- 14:47Adventures, Ghost Hunters, etcetera, etcetera.
- 14:50We tried to do it too when we were investigating the Queen
- 14:52Mary, but we did not get lucky, no.
- 14:57How old do you think this idea is?
- 15:00Like 2 years old. Like 200 years old. 200 Yeah, I
- 15:09mean, ghost hunting shows have only been around since the early
- 15:112000s. Oh shit, yeah, you're right.
- 15:14Ghost Hunters specifically came out in 2004, and Ghost Avengers
- 15:17came out in 2008. Wait, but Evps?
- 15:20Specific the idea of Evps, the electronic voice phenomenon.
- 15:24OK, OK, OK. I'm going to say the early
- 15:262000s. OK.
- 15:28That's a good, great guest, Jerry.
- 15:29OK, OK. Would you believe me if I said
- 15:31the idea dates back all the way to the 1920s?
- 15:34That was my second guess. And that it has ties to Thomas
- 15:37Edison and. That was my third guess.
- 15:41Edison had a surprisingly strong interest in what happens to our
- 15:44personality once we die. Edison had been caught up in the
- 15:47spirituality movement of the early 20th century, which we
- 15:50already talked about in episode 26 when we did the Ouija board.
- 15:55Do you remember the story about the Fox sisters that they
- 15:58claimed that they were able to talk to a ghost in their house
- 16:01and they were getting responses beyond knocking?
- 16:03Same spiritualism. In short, spiritualism is the
- 16:07belief that spirits can somehow show themselves or communicate
- 16:10with the living. And this all came after a rise
- 16:13of interest dating all the way back to like the 1840s.
- 16:17And if you want to listen to that episode, it is called
- 16:19Communicating with the Dead. Straightforward.
- 16:25How was Thomas Edison swept up in this?
- 16:28He was a prolific inventor who was accredited for inventing the
- 16:32light bulb, the telephone transmitter, and the phonograph
- 16:36which recorded and played back sound.
- 16:39There was a bit of conflict between the spiritual and
- 16:42scientific communities. Psychic mediums at this time
- 16:45were all the rage claiming to be able to contact past loved ones
- 16:49due to the medium's innate ability.
- 16:52Edison wasn't super into the whole seance and mediums thing
- 16:56because honestly there was no way to prove any of it.
- 17:00He wanted proof that you could actually show someone else
- 17:03because when you have a medium it only exists in that moment
- 17:06and word of mouth is what keeps that momentum going.
- 17:10He had heard of spirit photographs and was convinced
- 17:13that there could be other ways to have proof.
- 17:16This is an example of a spirit photograph.
- 17:22I'll be posting this on Instagram.
- 17:24But this doctor dentist guy had like a live in mediums and they
- 17:29would do seances all the time and I guess this is one of the
- 17:31pictures they got. I read the caption.
- 17:36Which one? This ghost one, The one with all
- 17:38the heads. The spirit photo was taken in
- 17:43Lilydale, New York, about 1921 and shows a Doctor Akroyd.
- 17:48Yeah, that's the the dentist, OK, in a meditative mode with
- 17:53the heads of four individuals presumed to be deceased
- 17:56appearing or hovering around him.
- 17:59Thomas Edison saw that and thought, you know what, maybe we
- 18:02can find other proof that we can show people.
- 18:04I see this picture. That is something that you can
- 18:09kind of float around, no pun intended.
- 18:11Yeah, I like the heads. And he believed he could be the
- 18:16one to do it. He once said, I am inclined to
- 18:20believe that our personality hereafter will be able to affect
- 18:23matter. If this reasoning be correct,
- 18:26then if we can evolve an instrument so delicate as to be
- 18:29affected by our personality as it survives in the next life,
- 18:32such an instrument, when made available, ought to record
- 18:36something. He thought that your spirit, for
- 18:39lack of a better word, was some sort of energy that could be
- 18:43captured, that can move stuff around, can cause some sort of
- 18:49vibration, and he understood that sound is vibration.
- 18:52That's how you mentioned the phonograph.
- 18:54Using the phonograph as a base, he set out to invent a device
- 18:57that could capture spiritual transmissions.
- 19:00In the 1920 issue of Scientific America, Edison told the
- 19:03magazine that he had begun working on such a device.
- 19:07Vibrations were the key. Unfortunately, Edison passed
- 19:13away in 1931. He never completed the machine
- 19:17and no documentation was ever found.
- 19:19He burned it. That seems pretty ominous to me.
- 19:23Yeah, like he announced his project to the world and for
- 19:26nothing to ever come out of it is a little strange, don't you
- 19:28think? He said if I'm not making it, no
- 19:32one is. You think it was a selfish?
- 19:34Thing I think it was a selfish. Action.
- 19:37He realized he could do it. And he said I don't want people
- 19:39bothering me once I'm dead. Yeah, leave me alone.
- 19:41Leave me alone. Let me rest.
- 19:42He said this is too powerful. I am too smart and I don't need
- 19:45you asking me questions. Figure it out yourself.
- 19:47Ahead of his time, he said you guys are smart.
- 19:50You got this. I've I've never thought of
- 19:53Thomas Edison as. Linked to like.
- 19:56Linked to like. Yeah.
- 19:58Or that he had such an interest in spiritualism.
- 20:01Yeah. That's so cool.
- 20:04OK, but here's the thing. Maybe he'd already been
- 20:07successful and that's why no other machine ever existed.
- 20:12The phonograph or just the discovery of audio recording was
- 20:16all we needed. Years later, Swedish painter
- 20:21Frederick Jorgensen. Nice.
- 20:24Discovered something very peculiar in one of his audio
- 20:26recordings. On June 12th, 1959.
- 20:30He was recording the sound of bird songs in the woods.
- 20:32That's the best thing you can do.
- 20:33Jerry, he's just like you. He's just like me.
- 20:35He's just like you. He's.
- 20:36Just like me. When he played back the tapes,
- 20:41he was shocked to discover the sounds of voices talking between
- 20:44the bird calls. The tapes had never been used
- 20:47before. He was in an isolated area with
- 20:49no other people. You know how you tell us?
- 20:53Like, guys, be quiet, I need to record this and you'll take like
- 20:55a step back. And then recording and.
- 20:58I imagine you play that back and it's not just a bird call, it's
- 21:00someone else's voice. So now what you're telling me is
- 21:03I need to go back into my recordings that I have logged
- 21:06and listen to all of them for voices?
- 21:07You never know, they could be anywhere and you could just not
- 21:11be paying attention. His first thought was what the
- 21:17fuck, followed by the thought that he must have intercepted
- 21:22radio waves somehow. Not only was he a creative, he
- 21:25was also smart. He went to see if he could
- 21:27replicate the occurrence scientific method.
- 21:30Let's see if we could do it again.
- 21:32He tried recording again and as he continued he heard more
- 21:36voices using a longer phrases and they even called him by
- 21:39name. What would you go?
- 21:44What? What's going through your head?
- 21:46Someone calls you by name in one of your bird call recordings.
- 21:49I understand them. I speak bird.
- 21:53No, I would think I'm going crazy.
- 21:57What year is this again, 19? 591959.
- 22:03Huh. Yeah, I think I'd just be
- 22:05freaked out if this is like the first time that my intention is
- 22:07to record birds and then I start hearing voices and talking and
- 22:10then hearing my name. Jerry.
- 22:12Jerry. That's just.
- 22:15Someone cat calling? You.
- 22:16Yeah, it's just someone cat calling you.
- 22:21He also thought they were extraterrestrial before he
- 22:24decided that they're ghosts. They have to be ghosts.
- 22:28Jorgensen published his findings in 1964 and 1967 in two
- 22:33different journals. While researchers now view this
- 22:36as flimsy research, I don't think it's flimsy.
- 22:39He went and tried it again. Says who?
- 22:41Researchers. Yeah, skeptics.
- 22:46It ended up sparking A worldwide interest in electronic voice
- 22:49phenomena. These tapes inspired an entire
- 22:53generation of ghost hunters in the 50s and the 60s hoping to
- 22:56recreate Jorgensen's experience. I don't even know how that's how
- 22:59it's pronounced, but I'm committing.
- 23:01I believe you. Specifically, a Latvian
- 23:06psychology professor named Doctor Raudev used the same
- 23:11methods and catalogued over 70,000 unexplained recorded
- 23:15voices. 70 Thousand 70000. 70 thousand 70 thousands, dude.
- 23:25However, an electronics expert named DJ Ellis don't know what
- 23:31the D&J stands for, but in my mind I'm thinking.
- 23:33He's a DJ. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:35He's a DJ. Well, he's a he's an electronics
- 23:39expert. What?
- 23:40DJ isn't. There you go.
- 23:43He was commissioned to investigate the findings and
- 23:45concluded that the voices heard were likely due to natural
- 23:48phenomena interacting with the recording devices.
- 23:51He said it could have been anything from dust on the tapes
- 23:54to ambient sounds or even electrical interference.
- 23:58I hate when dust just calls your name, you know, or interference.
- 24:03We do have to remember back then they're not recording on the
- 24:06same devices we had. They have actual tapes that if
- 24:09anything got in the way it would just morph the sound.
- 24:13I believe it. I mean, I mean, you have
- 24:14records, you know. Yeah.
- 24:15Have you heard a dirty record? Yeah, of course.
- 24:18The kind of dirty record. There you go.
- 24:21Have you the? Bones and groans.
- 24:25Those those dust particles, whatever is on there, Yeah, it
- 24:28skips, it makes contact with the with the needle stylus.
- 24:31And sometimes it screeches. Sometimes.
- 24:33What if you interpret that as like words?
- 24:35Yeah. So I understand the skeptics.
- 24:38That wasn't your name, that was dust.
- 24:40Got it. OK, another skeptical researcher
- 24:44was author Mary Roach. She had learned of a German
- 24:48woman who was spoken to in English by a voice inside her
- 24:51oven. Every time she opened the oven,
- 24:55an English voice would talk to her.
- 24:58When investigated, it was discovered that pieces of metal
- 25:01in the oven were acting as a semiconductor and picking up on
- 25:05international radio broadcasts. She wasn't the only one.
- 25:08Someone else in the neighborhood had a very similar experience
- 25:11with a different device, so Roche believed that Jorgensen's
- 25:15device had done something similar.
- 25:17That is wild. That he was right because he did
- 25:19question like, did I intercept some sort of like radio?
- 25:22Yeah, it's funny because I was going to like mention that
- 25:25earlier, but I'm like, I don't know how to answer.
- 25:26Like how connected it could be to radio frequencies and getting
- 25:31picked up on that device. Dude, I have a personal story of
- 25:35this. I'll see if I'll leave it in,
- 25:37but I think I I must have told you one time I went to a Lady
- 25:40Gaga concert, spend the night at a hotel.
- 25:43We took a karaoke mic on the way there 'cause we were singing
- 25:46Lady Gaga. Yes, yes, we forgot to turn it
- 25:49off. We did not know that we forgot
- 25:51to turn off the Bluetooth karaoke mic that we had
- 25:54connected to nothing, by the way.
- 25:56But when we left the next day, my car was making the loudest,
- 26:00like a radio interference sound. We called Kia, we called a tow
- 26:05truck. They or like, you're too far out
- 26:08for us to tow you without it being expensive.
- 26:11So my mom met us at the parking lot and she said we'll drive
- 26:14right behind you, just drive slow 'cause we thought my car
- 26:16was having some sort of weird failure.
- 26:18Get home, unpack, find the karaoke mic is on in the trunk,
- 26:24but it was still affecting the radio.
- 26:26Yeah, it was searching for Bluetooth frequencies and it
- 26:30found him and it found him. So I understand how technology
- 26:35is understandable. That goes to say I see merit,
- 26:39especially with the idea of ghost boxes.
- 26:43They work by tapping into radio waves and cycling through them.
- 26:46The belief is that paranormal forces can manipulate the waves
- 26:49and use them to relay messages. Yeah.
- 26:52Using the radio wave kind of like a conduit.
- 26:55Who's to say that ghosts weren't making that connection and
- 26:58overriding those tapes to begin with?
- 27:02You know, just being a contrarian.
- 27:03Yup, Yup, Yup, Yup, Yup. Maybe they were the reason that
- 27:05Ladies Oven was speaking English.
- 27:08The ghost let's. Let's mess with the oven, We can
- 27:11talk through it. Interest in Evps continue to
- 27:15grow throughout the 20th century.
- 27:16During that time, a few organizations specializing in
- 27:19the EVP phenomenon were formed. In Germany, there was the
- 27:22Association for Voice Taping Research.
- 27:24In America, Sarah Estep founded the Association of Electronic
- 27:28Voice Phenomenon, which provided a system for classifying the
- 27:31quality of sound from EVP messages.
- 27:34Later, there was also the International Network for
- 27:36Instrumental Transcommunication. That one went under in a couple
- 27:40years, so it's not around. I personally believe that Evps
- 27:44are more convincing now just because of the way technology
- 27:48has advanced. I know there's always a chance
- 27:50for mistakes when recording things on, like a phonograph, on
- 27:54tape, dust. We were just discussing that.
- 27:59But when it comes to digital recording onto a memory chip, an
- 28:04SD card, there's much less chance of physical interference.
- 28:09If I leave a recorder in an empty room and hear a voice, I'm
- 28:11going to think it's a ghost. What do you think?
- 28:15Is it a ghost or our brain just trying to make some sort of
- 28:17connection ghost? Thank you.
- 28:21Welcome. Closes my case.
- 28:24I literally, I do believe that they understand technology or at
- 28:32least can manipulate it, because it's, you know, energy.
- 28:34It's still electromagnetic fields, man.
- 28:38Exactly. I was there, man.
- 28:40I was there when electromagnetic fields were invented.
- 28:43True, because for a while they weren't.
- 28:46I was there. I was there, man.
- 28:49I named it electromagnetic fields after my dog.
- 28:54My dog EMF. My dog EMF.
- 28:56My dog EMF, What's the what's the drink?
- 29:02AMF and Adios mother. It was it was between AMF or EMF
- 29:07but I just for some reason AMF just gave gave me drink fires.
- 29:10You know, we need to have a custom drink and it's the amigo
- 29:12magnetic frequency. That's I got you.
- 29:15I'll start on that right away. Thank you.
- 29:16We'll drink it before next episode.
- 29:17Yeah. I noticed your bartender is not
- 29:19here. So he got fired.
- 29:20Mark got fired. Yeah, he kind of just stood
- 29:23there and watched and like it. Never did anything, he his
- 29:26resume said. No interesting I know and I had
- 29:29a whole AI bot like do the interview process.
- 29:32He was great on paper. That's amazing.
- 29:34Also super reliable, right? Definitely.
- 29:37Nope. Nope, we do not.
- 29:39We are just kidding AI apologies.
- 29:41We and everything that we did for the rebrand, by the way, no
- 29:44AI was. Involved.
- 29:45No AI was involved, just. Side note, because I'm proud of
- 29:49that. Yeah, yeah, it it.
- 29:50Those are our own creative minds and juices.
- 29:54Yeah. You got my mind juice all over.
- 29:56You it got all over the Amigos afraid.
- 30:00That was it for me, friend. That's so cool, friend.
- 30:02Thank you so much. That was sound.
- 30:03That sounded super informative and I love that it came from a
- 30:07book so. We're so literate.
- 30:09I will be joining you in that, in that, in that, in that
- 30:13journey. Let's go to the library.
- 30:15Support your local libraries please.
- 30:17Not this time around, because. It's a little bit more local
- 30:20too. Somewhere else but I.
- 30:22Bet amigo what haunted you this week?
- 30:24This heat dude. I have not been able to sleep
- 30:26comfortably because of this freaking heat.
- 30:28You saw my air mattress in the living room.
- 30:30Well, I mean, you inspired me because we use the air mattress
- 30:36to chill downstairs. So like, it's so much cooler.
- 30:38Dude AC hitting you Like exactly Apartment living guys.
- 30:42And then we put the, the the stand fan right, like where the
- 30:46sliding door is and that cool air that comes in, which is puts
- 30:50you to sleep. You know, I did take a good nap
- 30:52on the couch. We're like, the couch isn't hot
- 30:54enough because it's not hot because you're cool and that
- 30:56breeze is hitting you. It was so nice.
- 30:58But anyways, this heat sucks. I hate heat kills.
- 31:03But in all seriousness, one of the places that has been
- 31:07haunting me this week is a place that I've been to what?
- 31:11And I never realized that it was haunted.
- 31:13Was I there? You were not there.
- 31:14Oh OK, well tell me about it. I'm get FOMO.
- 31:18I'll talk about that in a bit. But when you think of LA, Los
- 31:22Angeles, scared already, City of Angels afraid, you would say.
- 31:26Are there any haunted places that come up to mind?
- 31:29Hundreds of them. Hundreds.
- 31:31Anything in? Now ranked.
- 31:33Anything in downtown LA around Grand Central Market.
- 31:36I've been to so many of those theaters that look like they're
- 31:39100 years old. Yep, Yep Yep.
- 31:41I think for the most part, and this is just me assuming people
- 31:45don't necessarily think of theaters or nightclubs, but.
- 31:50Oh yeah, I would not think of a night I.
- 31:51Think it was just historic buildings, hotels.
- 31:55I think theaters would be up there though, I think.
- 31:57So much energy from like plays and stuff.
- 31:58Yeah, tucked away on the famous corner of Hollywood and Vine,
- 32:03there's a building that's been entertaining people for almost
- 32:06100 years. And according to a lot of
- 32:09employees, security guards, musicians and paranormal
- 32:12investigators, the party has never really ended.
- 32:16That's a Hilary Duff song. Today we're talking about Hilary
- 32:20Duff. Hollywood and Vine, those are
- 32:23lyrics. Toes.
- 32:24No way. What if she's talking about this
- 32:26place? I have to Google.
- 32:29Today we're talking about the Avalon Hollywood and Bardo, or
- 32:33the Avalon Hollywood nightclub. It first opened its doors in
- 32:371927. Oh my God.
- 32:40But if you had walked inside back then, you wouldn't have
- 32:42seen flashing lights or DJSDJ. DJ.
- 32:46You would have seen. The skeptic and skeptic DJ
- 32:50electronic professional. You would have been walking into
- 32:55one of Hollywood's most luxurious theaters.
- 32:58On Hollywood and Vine. It was originally called the
- 33:01Hollywood Playhouse, designed during a time when LA was
- 33:05transforming from a growing city into the entertainment capital
- 33:08of the world. Silent films were fading out,
- 33:11talkies were taking over, and everyone wanted to be the next
- 33:15big movie star. Quick, what's a talking?
- 33:18A talking film? Yeah.
- 33:20Come on now. I learned that in college.
- 33:25Hollywood wasn't just making movies, it was creating legends.
- 33:28The theater itself reflected that ambition.
- 33:31Huge balconies, ornate decorations, elegant
- 33:35chandeliers. The Hollywood loves that
- 33:37chandelier. They do.
- 33:39They want to swing from it like see ya.
- 33:42This kind of place where simply buying a ticket made you feel
- 33:45important. According to the building's
- 33:47history, it was designed to compete with the grand theaters
- 33:50that were popping up all over Hollywood during the late 1920s,
- 33:53when movie palaces were almost as famous as the stars appearing
- 33:56inside them. Brian Yes.
- 33:59Can you imagine showing up to watch a movie dressed in a full
- 34:02tuxedo? We could do that now, should we?
- 34:06I'm so down I've I've had that same question for a baseball
- 34:10game. That's that one's a little
- 34:11weird. Going in for like suit and like
- 34:13little newspaper hat and everything Newspaper hat like
- 34:16little newspaper. A newsboy hat.
- 34:18Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's the newspaper hat like?
- 34:20Sorry news. The ones that look like boats.
- 34:22Yes, one of those are like an actual top hat.
- 34:25Maybe in the winter. OK, OK, let's do both.
- 34:28We're going to have one in the Winter 1 next week.
- 34:32I think nowadays anybody that shows up to the theatre wearing
- 34:35shoes impressive. You.
- 34:38I don't want to see anyone with their dogs out at the theater.
- 34:41I think it's just not a it's not seen as that anymore.
- 34:43It's like lounge comfy. That's what I.
- 34:45Mean true, the chairs are climbed so far back.
- 34:48People bring their blankets, their little throws.
- 34:51Yeah, people bring, they bring food to you now.
- 34:53I brought Popeyes to the theater once.
- 34:56I brought some Costco Costco chicken bake at the movie
- 34:59theater. Anyways.
- 35:01Anyways, one thing that's fascinating about the Avalon is
- 35:05that it never stayed the same for very long.
- 35:07Over the decades, it changed names over and over again.
- 35:11Hollywood Playhouse, Federal Theatre, El Capitan, Hollywood
- 35:16Palace, The Palace and eventually Avalon.
- 35:20They're just like us. They're just like us.
- 35:22Look at us. We're just like the Avalon.
- 35:24We know how hard it is to think of a name.
- 35:26Not the apartment building the the nightclub.
- 35:29Not the bagel place. Not the bagel place, the
- 35:32nightclub. Each new owner reinvented the
- 35:34place, but the building itself stayed standing while Hollywood
- 35:37evolved around it. It survived the Great
- 35:39Depression, World War 2, the golden age of television, the
- 35:43rise of rock music, disco, punk, grunge.
- 35:46EDMI can keep going. If the walls could talk, these
- 35:53would probably ask for royalties.
- 35:55Pay me. Pay me I've I've seen it all.
- 35:58I've hosted all of them. So one reason the Avalon has
- 36:01such an enormous reputation is because just about everyone
- 36:05eventually walked through its doors.
- 36:06Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Louis Armstrong, Little Richard.
- 36:11The Beatles, The Rolling Stones. Madonna.
- 36:13You want me to keep going? Yes.
- 36:15Prince. Nirvana. 9 Inch Nails, The
- 36:19Ramones. The Ramones played their last
- 36:22concert before the band broke up here.
- 36:27It was called the Palace at that point.
- 36:29But that's why when I read that, I'm like, that's so cool.
- 36:32Love the Ramones. Thousands of performances,
- 36:34millions of audience members. If you believe places can absorb
- 36:38emotional energy, there aren't many buildings in LA with more
- 36:41of it. Every standing ovation, every
- 36:44nervous performer waiting behind the curtain, every dream coming
- 36:48true or falling apart. That's a lot of history packed
- 36:51into one address. Stick with me here, OK?
- 36:54I promise I'll get to the paranormal stuff.
- 36:56Long before it became a nightclub, the building became
- 36:59one of television's biggest stages.
- 37:01It hosted The Hollywood Palace, a variety show that aired from
- 37:041964 to 1970. Oh cool.
- 37:08And featured some of the biggest names in entertainment like
- 37:10Diana Ross, Sammy Davis, Junior, Johnny Cash, The Supremes, and
- 37:16countless others. Week after week, millions of
- 37:19Americans were watching performances broadcast from this
- 37:21very stage. So let's get into the ghost
- 37:25stories. Yeah, I appreciate you for
- 37:26waiting. Of course I have patience.
- 37:29But they don't. They're like, get to the point
- 37:31skipping. They're like, I don't care about
- 37:33the history. I don't care about your week.
- 37:35Get to the scary stuff. There isn't one single tragedy
- 37:40everyone points to when it comes to the Avalon.
- 37:43Unlike places where there's one infamous murder or one
- 37:45catastrophic fire, the Avalon doesn't have a documented event
- 37:49that explains the hauntings. In fact, researchers point out
- 37:53that there are no confirmed recorded deaths inside the
- 37:55theater that paranormal investigators consistently
- 37:58identify as the origin of its paranormal activity.
- 38:01So a lot of people have been asking questions of like, who
- 38:04died here? And no one's been.
- 38:05There have been recorded deaths inside and outside of the
- 38:08building, but once again, they're not connected to the
- 38:10specific hauntings that are happening.
- 38:12Oh OK. But people have died there.
- 38:13But people have died there. RIP.
- 38:15So instead, the story seemed to have developed gradually over
- 38:18decades, shared by employees, security guards, performers, and
- 38:23visitors who all describe remarkably similar experiences.
- 38:28That almost makes it stranger, in my opinion, because if
- 38:30nobody's telling the same tragic back story, why do so many
- 38:34people keep reporting the same things?
- 38:36One of the most famous spirits reported inside the Avalon is an
- 38:39elegant woman from another era. And they?
- 38:42Call her the Lady in White. No, not this time.
- 38:45OK, not this time. Employees often describe
- 38:48smelling in expensive floral perfume before anyone appears.
- 38:52Then they'll notice a woman standing nearby wearing vintage
- 38:55clothing that looks like it's straight out of the 1920s or
- 38:581930's. The second someone tries to
- 39:02approach her, she disappears. She gets scared.
- 39:05She's like, Nope. No, it is MO.
- 39:08No MO's, no footsteps, no conversation, and no
- 39:11acknowledgement. Disappears.
- 39:13Not even a little smile. She just and leaves.
- 39:17Apparently not. Poof gun.
- 39:20If a ghost can choose their outfit forever, why do you think
- 39:25they're always dressed incredibly classy?
- 39:29OK. In this case specifically, I
- 39:30think because it's a theater, it was a place for performances.
- 39:34As you said, people used to dress really, really fancy to go
- 39:37to these things. Yeah.
- 39:40So they probably feel the most confident in that.
- 39:42You're right. Like I would want to be haunting
- 39:44in one of my favorite outfits. Like what if I like dye my Tonys
- 39:48or something? I don't want to be haunting
- 39:50around in my little in my briefs.
- 39:52That's. That's what I was going.
- 39:54To like a cute little fit or something.
- 39:56Yeah, I think if something were to happen to me, I'd be hunting
- 39:59the whatever place I'm in, in shorts and my Lord of the Rings
- 40:02shirt because that's like my go to outfit, you know?
- 40:05So I agree. I agree.
- 40:06You exist in my brain, not going to lie.
- 40:08It's it's either like a banty and some shorts.
- 40:11But yeah, so for example, in this case at this theater hosted
- 40:15so much like Grand and Eleganza that they're going to be feeling
- 40:18their best strong emotions. It makes sense that they're
- 40:21going to be showing up in their in their attire, you know?
- 40:24They wanted to serve looks in life and death.
- 40:26And in death. I live for you, Mama.
- 40:30I died for you, Mama. Literally, I don't know the
- 40:33reference. I don't either, I just made it
- 40:34up. Oh, that sounded like a
- 40:36reference. Oh, quote me.
- 40:39Another report that comes up over and over again involves
- 40:42music staff members have described hearing a piano
- 40:46echoing through the empty building late at night.
- 40:49Not just random notes, entire melodies.
- 40:52Naturally, someone goes to investigate because the movies
- 40:56haven't taught us anything and by the time they reach the room,
- 41:00there's no one there. Personally, I'm checking out the
- 41:05building. I'm checking out the piano.
- 41:07The source. I'm going to go looking just
- 41:09like at the Queen Mary, the the Lady in White by the piano.
- 41:13I would want to go check it out. It's also right next to the
- 41:15reception. So I know there's someone there
- 41:17at all. Ours.
- 41:18And light, yeah, it's never dark.
- 41:20It's never dark there. So I'm going to go check it out.
- 41:23It's the staff member like, oh, sorry, we.
- 41:26Have a really long pole. Are you going to go check it
- 41:30out? Yeah, it's.
- 41:32It's scary though, but yes. It's just it's kind of hard not
- 41:35to. I think hearing music come out
- 41:37of nowhere where you don't see a speaker is so scary.
- 41:39Happened to us at Queen Mary before I realized that there was
- 41:42a speaker above us. That's right.
- 41:43I was like what the hell? Why do I hear old vintage music?
- 41:47Yeah, not just like sound, just full hooks, full melodies.
- 41:52You know, it's I scary music thing I experienced recently.
- 41:56I was going to the post office. That's that's terrifying our
- 42:00and. One, it was weird because it
- 42:02inside the post office, it smelled like incense.
- 42:05That's strange. OK, in the post office, in the
- 42:07post office, like hello, you. You can't just light fire.
- 42:10Here there's mail, a lot of paper.
- 42:11But there's a church across the street, like in a corner, and
- 42:15instead of it playing bells, it plays a full on like orchestra,
- 42:19really loud that you can hear for blocks.
- 42:22So when I'm getting out of my car and I'm like, where is this
- 42:26orchestra music coming from? I thought I was going to die.
- 42:30I thought the saxophones were getting louder.
- 42:32This is it. The gates of hell and heaven
- 42:34have opened. I stood there for a second and
- 42:36I'm like, well, got to go drop off my mail I guess.
- 42:39Yeah, like well, the end of the world, but I need to send this
- 42:42letter out so. And it was literally like 12 O 1
- 42:44and it didn't stop for like 4 minutes.
- 42:46That's. Crazy, I've never heard of that.
- 42:47Is this the same place where there's like, people holding
- 42:49hands outside? No, there was no signs.
- 42:52I'll tell you where it's at. OK, OK, I've been seeing that
- 42:54recently. There's like a whole.
- 42:55Anyways, anyways, if there's one group of people I trust, it's
- 43:01security guards. Takes one and no one.
- 43:04Because I was one. I know that they're the ones
- 43:07walking the buildings at 3:00 in the morning, doing their sweeps,
- 43:09their hourly sweeps. Apparently here, guards have
- 43:15reported seeing what appears to be an older gentleman dressed in
- 43:19formal evening wear standing inside the theater.
- 43:22Sometimes he's watching the stage, other times he's standing
- 43:25in a balcony. And then he fades away.
- 43:30No scream. There's no eyes that make eye
- 43:33contact with you or glowing. It's almost like he never
- 43:37realized the show ended. Wow, and he's still just
- 43:40watching. He's still watching.
- 43:42That's sad. That's melancholy.
- 43:45I love that. Yes, it is Mr. Melancholy.
- 43:47That's what they should call him.
- 43:49Wow, the killer should make a song about him.
- 43:52The killer the killer the killer the killer the killer where he.
- 43:57Could be anywhere. One of the most interesting ones
- 43:59that I've found. During the 1963 and 1964 ABC
- 44:03renovation, the building was completely rewired.
- 44:06The archives specifically mentioned the archives.
- 44:10The Oh, Jerry was in the archives.
- 44:16Some sources specifically mentioned the archives.
- 44:19The archives. The electrician's control area
- 44:23was balcony located. ABC completely rewired for all
- 44:28electrical and video and sound equipment.
- 44:31One of the recurring ghost stories is a mischievous
- 44:34electrician. Oh my God, DJ, there's it's DJ
- 44:38again. He can't escape DJ.
- 44:42He's. Always hooking up his his his.
- 44:45As DJ said, there's no evidence connecting those two facts.
- 44:50And I'm not saying the electrician worked on the ACABC
- 44:52renovation, but I do think it's funny that one of the ghosts
- 44:56people claim to see is an electrician in a building famous
- 44:59for one of the biggest television rewiring projects in
- 45:02Hollywood history. 1 explanation Paranormal investigators ring up
- 45:06isn't tied to a specific ghost. It's aligned to more of residual
- 45:10hauntings which you've gone over.
- 45:11For those that have been with us or just know.
- 45:14Amazing. Here's a sticker.
- 45:17If you don't have a clue, it's the idea that the powerful
- 45:20emotional events don't create spirits.
- 45:23They leave behind recordings. Now you know.
- 45:27Here's your sticker. Almost like the building, it's
- 45:30replaying events from the past. If you got nearly 100 years of
- 45:34concerts, laughter, heartbreak, applause, could those moments
- 45:39somehow leave an imprint? Science hasn't demonstrated that
- 45:41this happens, but it's interesting how often old
- 45:44theaters around the World Report nearly identical experiences.
- 45:47So this is going back to what you mentioned.
- 45:50There's people dressed in period clothing, phantom applause.
- 45:53There's music playing from a building, from a room, figures
- 45:57watching from empty seats. Whether that's psychology,
- 46:00architecture, or something we don't understand, it's hard to
- 46:04ignore how similar these stories are.
- 46:06And I don't think you're ready for this.
- 46:08OK, try. Me.
- 46:10If the Avalon IT offered us a private overnight investigation,
- 46:14no audience, no security, just us, would you actually do it?
- 46:20Yes, I'd be so scared, but yes. Because guess what?
- 46:25What? I've just received an e-mail
- 46:28with an invite. Wait, what?
- 46:31To switch my Internet. Provider.
- 46:32Oh my God, it. The guys, no, we didn't get it
- 46:35invited to the Avalon yet. This.
- 46:38Is going to become amigo afraid podcast.
- 46:40I mean, Jerry off go get, get out of here.
- 46:46Thank you. Thank you.
- 46:47I'll be back on Thursday, every Thursday.
- 46:51Not if I have a second I. Have 50% of this business.
- 46:56The Avalon is one of those rare places where history and the
- 46:59paranormal seem to overlap naturally.
- 47:01Whether you believe in every ghost story or not, there's no
- 47:05denying the building has witnessed nearly a century of
- 47:08human emotion. It has seen careers launched,
- 47:11legends perform. Emo night.
- 47:14Which is when I went back in 2022, Yeah.
- 47:16I was not there. Yep, you're.
- 47:18Right, you were not there, but I had a grand old time in my suit.
- 47:22I'm just kidding. I was we.
- 47:23Weren't friends yet? We weren't.
- 47:26In 2022, I think we just barely knew each other.
- 47:28Yeah, I think like did I give you a ride back then or no,
- 47:30probably it was around that time.
- 47:32I think so. Well, yeah, I was in a band
- 47:35T-shirt, so wearing the same attack, I could have guessed.
- 47:41Generations of audiences come and go, and maybe that's enough
- 47:44to make a place feel alive. Or maybe when the music starts,
- 47:49some performers never hear the final curtain call.
- 47:55The never ending concert. A never ending concert.
- 47:58I don't remember smelling a very floral perfume do.
- 48:02You see a DJ, there was a DJ, He might have been a ghost there.
- 48:06Was a DJ. Oh my God.
- 48:07Was he up in the balcony? No, it it was up in the.
- 48:09Balcony. Oh my gosh.
- 48:10It was in one of the small rooms.
- 48:12That place was so emo. Night there was so cool because
- 48:14like obviously the main. I just saw a shadow go outside
- 48:17the window by the way, Sorry. Last week I asked you, or two
- 48:22weeks ago I asked you if there was a shadow or something at
- 48:24your window. Are you looking through the
- 48:25blinds? You said yes, I'm onos.
- 48:28I can't the. Microphone doesn't search that
- 48:30far. Fine.
- 48:31I'll look. No, there can't be anything over
- 48:32there. I hope not.
- 48:33There's a really tall weed. Like an actual weed.
- 48:37Not Jerry. Guys, that's two times today.
- 48:46You stressed me out. Amigo.
- 48:52Afraid. I'm afraid.
- 48:55I'm afraid. I apologize if that was a big
- 48:58history lesson, but it just really excited me because I've
- 49:01been there and we're calling back.
- 49:04Everything is dark and emoy and, you know, just darks.
- 49:09Yeah. So nothing was out of the
- 49:10ordinary. If there was something that was
- 49:13paranormal happening, I could have just been like, oh, that's
- 49:15cool installment. Wow.
- 49:17Sick. Moving on, Head banging,
- 49:21moshing. Good times.
- 49:25You mentioned you were there for emo night, probably drinking.
- 49:29Everyone was probably drinking. There is a show I watch on
- 49:34YouTube that I just started watching and I know normally we
- 49:37recommend songs, but this week you have my mind on this, where
- 49:41this group of people, they think that you are more prone to
- 49:44seeing some sort of ghost or experiencing something's
- 49:48paranormal. If you are under the influence
- 49:50of something and it's all really silly.
- 49:52It's really funny. It's called Scared and Impaired.
- 49:56That's a great name by the Friday.
- 49:58Beers YouTube channel, I know, I think it's a network of like
- 50:01creators and podcasters and stuff.
- 50:04I think that's so funny and it just reminded me of that.
- 50:06But they do ghost hunting where someone is drunk, someone's
- 50:10high, and they're just trying their best to to capture ghost
- 50:14hunting evidence, dude. That sounds so stressful, being
- 50:20already under the influence and then like you're.
- 50:22But they have money, so they have a crew.
- 50:24Oh, for sure it's not them also trying to manage all the
- 50:27technology and recording themselves.
- 50:29They they're just the talent. They're they're being drunk, put
- 50:32into a a black room with a night vision camera.
- 50:35Gotcha, gotcha. You know, as as a smaller
- 50:36production ourselves. It's really hard.
- 50:38It's really hard. I can see that like being an
- 50:40issue for us. Yeah, I have to hold the camera
- 50:41for Jerry. Yeah, yeah, it's a camera for
- 50:43me. We have to hold the mics so hard
- 50:45to make sure that our it's connected to Bluetooth.
- 50:47You know how hard it is. Oh my God.
- 50:49Bluetooth Bluetooth is so hard. We should have a degree in
- 50:51Bluetooth. So that's so that sounds like
- 50:53that sounds fun. Yeah.
- 50:54Thank you for recommending. That's my recommendation instead
- 50:56of a song this week. OK, cool.
- 50:57I mean, I'm going to be a little basic and I'm going to recommend
- 51:01a a song by the Ramones I. Was about to say that.
- 51:03I want to be sedated as, as I know, very obvious, but that
- 51:07song is very special to me. It was one of the first Ramones
- 51:10songs that I heard when I was like 6 in ACD player, my dad's
- 51:16car. So hey, that's an important
- 51:19song, you know? Your dad really raised up all.
- 51:22The music was that. So yeah, if you haven't listened
- 51:25to it, wow, that's crazy. Go listen to it.
- 51:28Hype the hype song. I want to be sedated under the
- 51:32influence. Oh my God.
- 51:33Wow, I just saw the neurons connect and.
- 51:35Jury's face sedated. Ghost hunting.
- 51:39Sedated and surprised. 20/20/24 hours ago.
- 51:42I don't want to be sedated and surprised.
- 51:43I don't want to be sedated. Oh no, we're going to no
- 51:46copyrighted. You saying that so well content
- 51:49ID is going to get you. Fuck.
- 51:51Well guys, that was the first episode of season 3.
- 51:55Of Amigos afraid. Can I think one more group of
- 52:00people? Yeah.
- 52:01I just want to thank the non existent contributions from our
- 52:03imaginary donors. Without you none of this would
- 52:05have been possible. Thank you so much.
- 52:06Thank you for all the imaginary money you've donated.
- 52:08We've been able to do so many imaginary things.
- 52:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. And now book a tour.
- 52:13It's a reality. We're on an imaginary tour right
- 52:15now. We are.
- 52:16You can play it on Spotify every Thursday.
- 52:19Every Thursday on all platforms. All platforms where podcasts are
- 52:22hosted. I hope you have a great day.
- 52:24Happy Thursday. Thank you for listening.
- 52:27I'm Brian. No Jerry.
- 52:29That has to be left behind. He's Jerry.
- 52:31I'm Brian. That's Jerry.
- 52:33And we are Amigos. Afraid.
- 52:37Cue the outro song.
