Speaker 2: Jason's going to join us. He's actually hope to have
• 1:54
Speaker 2: him in studio this morning. But got a text from
• 1:56
Speaker 2: him about thirty months ago, and Sadave I am over
• 1:58
Speaker 2: here working at the CODDLESEUM right now, so we're gonna
• 2:01
Speaker 2: have to do a buff phone. So that is certainly understanding.

• 2:06
Speaker 2: couple thousand people that are going to be rolling into

• 2:21
Speaker 2: nine three five five zero zero wad Welcome to the
• 2:24
Speaker 2: show now our good friend from the Clay Center, Taylor
• 2:26
Speaker 2: gew Good morning, welcome to the show.
• 2:28
Speaker 5: Good morning, happy to be here.
• 2:30
Speaker 2: All right, I understand you have a big announcement for us. Yeah,
• 2:34
Speaker 2: and you're just like, you know, like bouncing off the
• 2:37
Speaker 2: walls over here with this a big announcement about a
• 2:41
Speaker 2: show coming to the Clay Center. So I'm gonna get
• 2:42
Speaker 2: out of your way so I don't get hit by
• 2:45
Speaker 2: dripping enthusiasm. Tell us who's coming to the clays Well.
• 2:49
Speaker 6: I'm not sure if you've ever watched the show land
• 2:51
Speaker 6: Man or any of the Taylor Sheridan shows.
• 2:55
Speaker 5: Yellowstone. He has a whole slew of them.
• 2:57
Speaker 6: But the lead actor for the show, Landman, Bill Bob Thornton,
• 3:00
Speaker 6: has his own rock band called The box Masters, and
• 3:03
Speaker 6: they are going to be coming to Charleston this summer.
• 3:06
Speaker 2: You sort of teased that the last time you were here,
• 3:09
Speaker 2: I did, I did. You're you're not very good at it,
• 3:11
Speaker 2: because last time you were here, you said, we'll have
• 3:14
Speaker 2: an announcement coming up on the twenty fourth, which is today,
• 3:17
Speaker 2: and you said, I will. I'll just say this. If
• 3:21
Speaker 2: you're a fan of Landman, you're going to like this.
• 3:23
Speaker 2: So I'm sitting there thinking, Okay, Sam Elliott is coming
• 3:26
Speaker 2: in concert, so he's out, So so Billy Bob Thornton is.
• 3:31
Speaker 6: Yes, he is going on a national tour with his group,
• 3:33
Speaker 6: The box Masters this summer June, July, August, just for
• 3:36
Speaker 6: the summer months he's releasing. They are releasing a new
• 3:39
Speaker 6: album on June twelfth, called in the Bay. It's their
• 3:41
Speaker 6: twenty first album. For those who aren't familiar with The
• 3:44
Speaker 6: box Masters, their sixties inspired classic rock and roll, inspired
• 3:49
Speaker 6: by the Beatles, Beach Boys, that kind of vibe. So
• 3:53
Speaker 6: they're going to be coming to the Clay Center on
• 3:55
Speaker 6: July twenty fifth, seven thirty PM show on a Saturday
• 3:58
Speaker 6: night in the middle of summer. It's going to be
• 4:00
Speaker 6: a really spectacular evening, a really great way to enjoy
• 4:05
Speaker 6: a classic rock and roll like so many of us
• 4:06
Speaker 6: love in the area.
• 4:07
  Speaker 1: You know.
• 4:08
Speaker 2: And the thing about Billy Bob Thornton is, I mean
• 4:10
Speaker 2: number one of must say this. He's an interesting cat.
• 4:13
Speaker 2: I mean, he really really is. I have read a lot,
• 4:15
Speaker 2: I've been a big fan of his for a long time,
• 4:16
Speaker 2: and I absolutely love the show land Man. And for
• 4:19
Speaker 2: me to say I love any television show made after
• 4:22
Speaker 2: like nineteen seventy eight, it's kind of saying something. But
• 4:25
Speaker 2: my wife and I kind of got hooked on Landman.
• 4:28
Speaker 2: Of course, I'm a Taylor Sheridan guy too. I've watched Yellowstone.
• 4:31
Speaker 2: I loved Tulsa King's really my favorite show. I love
• 4:34
Speaker 2: Tulsa King the Taylor Sheridan does. But Billy Bob, I've
• 4:37
Speaker 2: been a big fan for a long time and he
• 4:39
Speaker 2: does a great job as Tommy in Landmann. But a
• 4:41
Speaker 2: lot of people may not realize that he is a musician.
• 4:44
Speaker 2: And when you see him in his interviews, he has
• 4:47
Speaker 2: a very interesting way of dressing usually, and he looks
• 4:51
Speaker 2: more like a sixty seventies rock star than he does
• 4:54
Speaker 2: on Landman or whatever role he's playing.
• 4:56
Speaker 6: Absolutely, and it's really interesting too. It was one of
• 4:58
Speaker 6: the things when you know, we were ironing out the
• 5:00
Speaker 6: details of the show. You know, Billy Bob Thornton is
• 5:04
Speaker 6: very particular about making sure that you know on the
• 5:08
Speaker 6: images and the things that are promoting the show that
• 5:10
Speaker 6: it's not him. It's not just a big old picture
• 5:13
Speaker 6: of him up there. It's the group. He takes a
• 5:16
Speaker 6: lot of pride in the box Masters and the work
• 5:18
  Speaker 6: they've done. I mean, twenty one albums. That's that's impressive.
• 5:22
Speaker 6: That's a lot of time and effort in creativity, and
• 5:25
Speaker 6: he really wants the box Masters to shine.
• 5:28
Speaker 5: So it's truly going to be a special.
• 5:30
Speaker 6: Evening and it's we always hear fun stories too about
• 5:32
Speaker 6: when he's on tour. He's just, such, like you said,
• 5:34
Speaker 6: an interesting guy. He'll just you know, pop out and
• 5:37
Speaker 6: be wandering around. We'll come to the merchant table randomly
• 5:39
Speaker 6: just be like, hey, guys, how's it going.
• 5:41
Speaker 2: You know, he is a very interesting fellow from everything
• 5:44
  Speaker 2: I have read about him. I don't know if I
• 5:47
Speaker 2: told you this on or off the air of the
• 5:48
Speaker 2: last time you were here. But one of the one
• 5:51
Speaker 2: of the many quirks of Billy Bob Thornton is is
• 5:54
Speaker 2: he does not like antiques. He has a fear of
• 5:57
Speaker 2: phobia of antiques. I'm dead serious. Look it up if
• 6:00
Speaker 2: you don't. But I'm no, I'm dead serious.
• 6:02
Speaker 5: Oh I believe you.
• 6:03
  Speaker 2: So I'm just saying I don't know. You know, it's
• 6:06
Speaker 2: been a while since I was a backstage at the
• 6:09
Speaker 2: show at the Clay Center. I brought when I worked
• 6:10
Speaker 2: with Landau. I brought Landale back there, and I've been
• 6:13
Speaker 2: all over the clay Center. Actually got Landau lost inside
• 6:16
Speaker 2: the clay Center. That's another story for another not that's
• 6:18
Speaker 2: another story. Well, the bad thing is it was about
• 6:21
Speaker 2: twenty seconds before he was supposed to go out on stage,
• 6:23
Speaker 2: and my job was to bring Landau to the stage,
• 6:26
Speaker 2: and we got lost somewhere like and I don't know,
• 6:30
Speaker 2: like a boiler room or sometimes a place we were
• 6:33
Speaker 2: and I've lost six foot six African American singer with
• 6:37
Speaker 2: drades with with with dreadlocks on me. But anyway, so,
• 6:42
Speaker 2: but I forget where I was even going with that.
• 6:45
Speaker 2: But I had read an interview about Billy Bob Thornton
• 6:48
Speaker 2: read a lot about him. He does have this phobia
• 6:52
Speaker 2: of antiques. So I wonder if you've got you know,
• 6:57
Speaker 2: if you're if you got a grandfather clock back there,
• 7:00
Speaker 2: you might want to move it out.
• 7:01
Speaker 5: I'll make sure it gets in storage.
• 7:04
Speaker 2: It's going to be a fantastic show. And I think,
• 7:07
Speaker 2: to me, it just goes to show you that the
• 7:09
Speaker 2: Clay Center is so I don't want to say eclectic,
• 7:13
Speaker 2: but varied in what the kind of productions that you do.
• 7:16
Speaker 2: Last time you hear you're talking about blue and there
• 7:19
Speaker 2: have been so many great musical performances there. There's so many,
• 7:22
Speaker 2: you know, everything from the Symphony on Doubt and now
• 7:25
Speaker 2: you're bringing in the Box mass Masters. I want to
• 7:28
Speaker 2: say box Cutters, the Box the Box Masters featuring Billy
• 7:32
Speaker 2: Bob Thornton. But just what you do with to Clay.
• 7:34
Speaker 6: Center, I know, I mean this summer alone, we have
• 7:37
Speaker 6: you know, we have the Princess Bride with Carrie always.
• 7:40
  Speaker 5: Coming and doing a Q and A.
• 7:41
Speaker 6: We have Magnolia Boulevard and would bine local more emerging
• 7:45
Speaker 6: artists performing. We've got Chicago the Band, We've got Vince
• 7:48
Speaker 6: Gill now we've got the box Masters Blue. I mean,
• 7:52
Speaker 6: it's quite literally just never ending, and that's just our performance.
• 7:55
  Speaker 5: Side of things.
• 7:55
Speaker 2: So yeah, thinkin. We're talking with Taylor you from the
• 7:58
Speaker 2: Clay Center. It's nine fifteen Vland Show and five Vidylie
• 8:01
Speaker 2: brought to you a party by Hustin's Pizza This month
• 8:03
Speaker 2: get a large at and inch Pepperoni pizza and Pepperoni
• 8:05
Speaker 2: Cowzone on twenty one ninety nine. Find your local Hustans
• 8:08
Speaker 2: for pickup dining or delivered Hustan's Pizza dot com. My
• 8:11
Speaker 2: man Rob Real from our sister station ninety six one
• 8:13
Speaker 2: KWS listening to us right now, just sent me a
• 8:16
Speaker 2: text and said he can confirm Billy Bob Thornton's phobia
• 8:18
Speaker 2: of antiques. So there you go. So as now we
• 8:23
Speaker 2: are getting into the spring and summer months, and you
• 8:26
Speaker 2: and I talked about this a little bit last time
• 8:28
Speaker 2: you were here. There's always stuff going on to the
• 8:30
Speaker 2: Clay Center. That nothing, I mean everything we just mentioned,
• 8:34
Speaker 2: not with Standy, There's always all kinds of other things
• 8:37
Speaker 2: going on the clay Center.
• 8:38
Speaker 6: Oh yeah, absolutely, I mean we're we're gearing up to
• 8:41
Speaker 6: have a really big, big, impactful summer. I mean, we're
• 8:45
Speaker 6: starting off here in April, April eighteenth, we're having a
• 8:48
Speaker 6: bubble Blast party at the Clay Center. So anything bubble related,
• 8:52
Speaker 6: from a million little ones to the ones that can
• 8:55
Speaker 6: cover an entire kid's body and go around them, It's
• 8:58
Speaker 6: going to be a lot of fun. But we're really
• 9:00
Speaker 6: kicking off summer with our Clay Center block party as
• 9:02
Speaker 6: our first time we're ever going to be doing that.
• 9:04
Speaker 6: That's gonna be Saturday, May sixteenth. We're gonna have live music.
• 9:08
Speaker 6: There's gonna be fire trucks and steamrollers and all these.
• 9:13
Speaker 2: Steamrollers, yes, steamrollers, fire trucks and steamrollers.
• 9:17
Speaker 5: Lots of big vehicles.
• 9:18
Speaker 6: There's going to be rocket launches and balloons and screen printing.
• 9:23
Speaker 6: We're closing off the road in front of the building.
• 9:25
Speaker 6: I mean, it's going to be a big outdoor kick
• 9:27
  Speaker 6: off to someone.
• 9:28
Speaker 2: Where did this come from?
• 9:30
Speaker 6: A lot of us just came together and we're thinking of,
• 9:32
Speaker 6: you know, what can we do to really just have fun.
• 9:37
Speaker 6: I mean, we don't use the outside of the Clay
• 9:39
Speaker 6: Center the front of the building as much as we
• 9:41
Speaker 6: would like to, and so we started brainstorming ways of
• 9:43
Speaker 6: what can we do too before it gets too hot?
• 9:45
  Speaker 5: Outside.
• 9:47
Speaker 6: Really take advantage of that and just do something fun.
• 9:50
Speaker 6: I mean, we're we're always brainstorming different and new things
• 9:53
Speaker 6: to do. So and after that, in June, we're going
• 9:56
Speaker 6: to have a We're calling up fairy Tales and fab
• 10:00
Speaker 6: it's going to be Princesses and star Wars and all
• 10:05
Speaker 6: of our favorite epics and stories, and we're encouraging people
• 10:08
Speaker 6: to come in costumes. So every month we're going to
• 10:11
Speaker 6: be having a really big event at the Clay Center
• 10:13
Speaker 6: that's going to encourage a lot of people to come out,
• 10:16
Speaker 6: a lot of participation, a lot of really cool activities.
• 10:18
Speaker 5: So it's going to be a really good time.
• 10:20
Speaker 2: It's certainly sounds like it. And I mean there's always
• 10:24
Speaker 2: something going on to the Clay I was online the other
• 10:26
Speaker 2: day was looking at your schedule of events and it's
• 10:29
Speaker 2: just incredible the things that you have and the things
• 10:31
Speaker 2: you have. You have something literally every day, and sometimes
• 10:34
Speaker 2: people don't realize it because it's not always the big
• 10:37
Speaker 2: concert or something like that. There's something every day going on.
• 10:40
Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I mean our education staff does all of
• 10:42
Speaker 6: these really cool science demonstrations. They have these cards where
• 10:45
Speaker 6: they're doing nitrogen gas explosions or Yeah, they're making little
• 10:50
Speaker 6: rockets and they're launching them across the entryway of the building.
• 10:53
Speaker 6: I mean, there's constantly little things going on. I mean,
• 10:56
Speaker 6: one of the really cool things we're doing next week
• 10:58
Speaker 6: is in our maker space Putnam and Cabble Counties, a
• 11:01
Speaker 6: lot of the counties.
• 11:01
Speaker 5: Are in spring break next week.
• 11:03
Speaker 6: They are making three D laser cut dinosaurs that you
• 11:07
Speaker 6: can hang from your ceilings. And I'm talking eighteen inch
• 11:10
Speaker 6: pterodactyls that are three dimensional that you get to cut out,
• 11:13
Speaker 6: assemble on your own and you can take them home
• 11:15
Speaker 6: with you and hang them from your ceiling free with
• 11:17
Speaker 6: your museum mission, no extra cost, nothing. It's not some
• 11:21
Speaker 6: special workshop. It's just something fun we're doing down in
• 11:23
  Speaker 6: our maker space.
• 11:24
Speaker 2: And this may not necessarily be in your wheelhouse, but
• 11:26
Speaker 2: I do want to throw this out there. These things
• 11:28
Speaker 2: that we talk about the Clay Center, whether it's musical,
• 11:30
Speaker 2: whether it's educational or whatever, these things are not possible
• 11:35
Speaker 2: without sponsors and without groups like they're the Friends of
• 11:38
Speaker 2: Clay and things of that nature. So I mean, think
• 11:41
Speaker 2: about that when you're thinking about making donations or whatever.
• 11:46
Speaker 2: Whether you're a business or whether you're an individual, These
• 11:48
Speaker 2: things do cost money and if you can help them out,
• 11:51
Speaker 2: I'm sure they would appreciate it.
• 11:53
Speaker 6: Yeah. Absolutely, I mean the Clay Center a lot of
• 11:54
Speaker 6: people don't know or understand that we're a nonprofit, so
• 11:58
Speaker 6: we rely entirely on donations and the money that our
• 12:02
Speaker 6: community gives back, and so we're continuing to explore ways
• 12:05
Speaker 6: that we too can give back the community and we
• 12:07
Speaker 6: can support each other and you know, always looking for
• 12:10
Speaker 6: local businesses that we can collaborate with local artists.
• 12:13
Speaker 5: So that's something that we continue to explore.
• 12:15
Speaker 6: And we are eternally thankful to every single person who
• 12:17
Speaker 6: donates their time and energy and money to making the
• 12:20
Speaker 6: Clay Center and everything we do possible.
• 12:22
Speaker 2: We appreciate you coming in here and joining us today
• 12:26
Speaker 2: and also want to say it's going to be a
• 12:29
Speaker 2: fantastic show. And so in case people are tuning in late,
• 12:33
Speaker 2: this was the big announcement that was made give us
• 12:36
Speaker 2: all the details again.
• 12:37
Speaker 6: Billy, Bob Thornton and the Box Masters are going to
• 12:40
Speaker 6: be coming to the Clay Center of this summer Saturday,
• 12:42

• 12:59
Speaker 6: how to help handle that.
• 13:01
  Speaker 5: Transaction for you.
• 13:01
Speaker 2: All right, And just remember the phobia that Billy both
• 13:04
  Speaker 2: Thornton has.
• 13:05
Speaker 6: I will hide any and all antique.
• 13:08
Speaker 2: Well, that means that our main Steve Animal from ninety
• 13:10
Speaker 2: eight to seven of the mounth in Wild and Wonderful
• 13:12
Speaker 2: Classic Rock, probably should not be back there because there
• 13:14
Speaker 2: will be no show.
• 13:15
Speaker 5: We'll put a picture of his face up front. I'll
• 13:16
  Speaker 5: make sure security.
• 13:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't have Animal Center. Speaking of antiques, don't
• 13:21
Speaker 2: have animals standing around back there. Taylor View from the Clayson.

Speaker 2: he does. He likes to downplay his name in this

• 16:58
Speaker 2: the Band coming to the Clay on the twenty fifth,
• 17:02
Speaker 2: and we'll have more information posted about that. Officially, the

Speaker 2: CEO of the Contractors Association of West Virginia, joined us
• 17:16
Speaker 2: now live from the Kylo Sema Convention Center. Good morning, sir,
• 17:19
Speaker 2: Welcome to the show.
• 17:21
Speaker 4: Good morning Dave, thanks for having me on the show again.
• 17:23
Speaker 2: Thank you for being here. And we just had that
• 17:26
Speaker 2: big announcement about the Billy Bob Thornton and his Band
• 17:29
Speaker 2: concert coming to the Clay Center on July twenty fifth.
• 17:34
Speaker 2: The question is what sort of instrument does Jason Pizzitella play.
• 17:39
Speaker 4: You know, I took some guitar lessons and I took
• 17:42
Speaker 4: some violin lessons way back in the day, but I
• 17:44
  Speaker 4: don't have.
• 17:45
Speaker 11: Either of those qualities as we stand here today.
• 17:47
Speaker 2: So you could be the West Virginia version of Charlie Daniels,
• 17:51
Speaker 2: is that what you're saying, guitar and violin or fiddle.
• 17:55
Speaker 4: I would give it my best shot that I wouldn't
• 17:57
Speaker 4: want to let down all my fans.
• 17:58
Speaker 2: Okay, I got you. We'll stick with contracting and stuff
• 18:02
Speaker 2: for you. Okay, my friend. Now you got the big
• 18:03
Speaker 2: event and you're actually at the Connellseum of Convention Center
• 18:06
  Speaker 2: as we speak.
• 18:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, Move Inday started this morning for our exhibitors. We
• 18:12
Speaker 4: have about three hundred and fifty this year, give or take,
• 18:15
Speaker 4: and expect about anywhere from three thousand to four thousand
• 18:19
Speaker 4: people to come through the Civic Center.
• 18:21
Speaker 11: Coliseum starting tomorrow morning.
• 18:24
Speaker 4: And we're really excited about it and excited to bring
• 18:26
Speaker 4: this back to Charleston for a forty seventh year.
• 18:29
Speaker 2: And this is something you talk about having three or
• 18:32
Speaker 2: four thousand people. I mean, this ranks right up there
• 18:34
Speaker 2: with the biggest events in Charleston each year.
• 18:37
Speaker 11: I think it does.
• 18:38
Speaker 4: And what makes us really excited about this forty seventh
• 18:42
Speaker 4: episode of West Virginia Expo is we teamed up with
• 18:46
Speaker 4: our partners at the West Virginia Manufacturers Association and the
• 18:50
Speaker 4: Gas and Oil Association of West Virginia because all of
• 18:54
Speaker 4: us collectively have workforce recruitment and retention issues, and so
• 18:57
Speaker 4: what we decided to do was at a emphasis on
• 19:00
Speaker 4: safety and workforce recruitment, which will happen Thursday this week
• 19:04
Speaker 4: at the Civic Center, and we're really excited for all
• 19:07
Speaker 4: of those industries to come together.
• 19:09
Speaker 2: Well and with you putting this added emphasis on the
• 19:12
Speaker 2: safety aspect of it, it's very important. But one of
• 19:15
Speaker 2: the things that I like about this event, and again
• 19:18
Speaker 2: this is the forty seventh year of the thing has
• 19:19
Speaker 2: been going on, is the networking possibilities. I mean, it's
• 19:25
Speaker 2: amazing because you get all of these people from literally
• 19:28
Speaker 2: all over the country that are coming to this thing,
• 19:31
Speaker 2: three to four thousand people that'll be there, and if
• 19:34
Speaker 2: you can't exchange a couple of business cards or phone
• 19:36
Speaker 2: numbers there, I don't know what to tell you.
• 19:39
Speaker 4: I think that's absolutely true. Dave and everybody involved in
• 19:42
Speaker 4: the construction and design industries will be at the Charleston
• 19:46
Speaker 4: Civic Center starting tomorrow for a couple of days. And
• 19:51
Speaker 4: I think the reason why this is so successful every
• 19:53
Speaker 4: year is once one is we have a really dedicated industry,
• 19:56
Speaker 4: But two, I think people are really believing in West
• 19:59
Speaker 4: Virginia leaving in the industry. They know that there are
• 20:02
Speaker 4: some really exciting things ongoing as we speak here today,
• 20:05
Speaker 4: but also some really exciting announcements can for the future,
• 20:09
Speaker 4: and it's going to keep our workforce busy for a
• 20:11
Speaker 4: long long time, and we're really excited about that.
• 20:13
Speaker 2: And again, Jason, when they I mean, if nothing else,
• 20:16
Speaker 2: when they come to the event and they drive down
• 20:19
Speaker 2: Virginia Street in Charleston, when they get off the exit
• 20:21
Speaker 2: of the sixty four, you're going to see construction everywhere
• 20:24
Speaker 2: on your way to the coliseum and convention Center.
• 20:27
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean from PoCA Valley Banks to the Remmington
• 20:30
Speaker 4: Building to the addition to the Kanwall County Judicial Annex
• 20:33
Speaker 4: Virginia Street. If anyone listening today has not been down
• 20:37
Speaker 4: Virginia Street in the last ten months, please take a
• 20:40
Speaker 4: trip down there on your next visit to Charleston. And
• 20:42
Speaker 4: we're really excited about all the new construction going on
• 20:45
Speaker 4: down there and all the workers that are making it possible.
• 20:48
Speaker 2: I want to talk about the state of construction in
• 20:51
Speaker 2: West Virginia. You alluded to it to Jason a little
• 20:53
Speaker 2: bit earlier. You know, we got new core, we got
• 20:55
Speaker 2: all these big announcements to keep coming up. A lot
• 20:58
Speaker 2: of growth in Mason, and a lot of growth in
• 21:00
Speaker 2: Putnam Can, a lot of growth in the Eastern Panhandle.
• 21:03
Speaker 2: There's a lot of stuff being built here in West
• 21:06
  Speaker 2: Virginia these days.
• 21:08
  Speaker 11: Yeah, there is.
• 21:09
Speaker 4: And I think you know a lot of people only
• 21:12
Speaker 4: often notice the orange barrels and cones on the road,
• 21:16
Speaker 4: you know, when they're driving to work or to church
• 21:17
Speaker 4: or to school. But there is really so much bigger
• 21:20
Speaker 4: going on beyond the highway and bridge program right now.
• 21:23
Speaker 4: And we're blessed at the AWV to represent not just
• 21:26
Speaker 4: the highway contractors, but building and utility contractors as well.
• 21:30
Speaker 4: And all the broadband that's being installed right now through
• 21:33
Speaker 4: the investments from the federal government is just really excited.
• 21:36
Speaker 4: It's keeping our members busy. But what it's also doing
• 21:39
Speaker 4: is making that recruitment and retention for our workforce that
• 21:42
Speaker 4: much more pressing, because we have a lot of second
• 21:45
Speaker 4: or third generation owned companies in West Virginia and they're
• 21:48
Speaker 4: looking to see who is going to be the next
• 21:51
Speaker 4: generation of workers that can fulfill that vision that our
• 21:55
Speaker 4: public agency owners want us to fulfill. And so that's
• 21:58
Speaker 4: why events like this and the fact that we're emphasizing
• 22:01
Speaker 4: safety and workforce on Thursday, I think makes.
• 22:05
  Speaker 11: It doubly important.
• 22:07
Speaker 2: So how are we doing overall on retention of workforce
• 22:11
Speaker 2: and getting people to work? I mean, you know, I
• 22:13
Speaker 2: don't want to turn this negative, Jason, but you see
• 22:16
Speaker 2: the news. You know, we report on it in West Virginia,
• 22:18
Speaker 2: lowest workforce participation rate in America among able bodied adults.
• 22:23
Speaker 2: How are we doing and what are we doing to
• 22:24
Speaker 2: try to get the word out that all these companies,
• 22:28
  Speaker 2: everybody needs workers.
• 22:31
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it's never going to be exactly where
• 22:33
Speaker 4: we want it to be, but I can tell you
• 22:35
Speaker 4: it's getting slightly better.
• 22:37
  Speaker 11: I Mean, our.
• 22:37
Speaker 4: Workforce participation rate, as you said, is low. It's too low,
• 22:42
Speaker 4: and it's been the lowest and so we as an industry,
• 22:45
Speaker 4: we decided, you know, we're going to try to do
• 22:47
Speaker 4: something about this. And so three or four years ago
• 22:50
Speaker 4: we started programs in our elementary schools called build it Up.
• 22:53
Speaker 4: And we have programs for our adult and non traditional
• 22:57
Speaker 4: students that can be found at billwv dot com. Because
• 23:00
Speaker 4: what we wanted to do is we wanted to put
• 23:02
Speaker 4: all of the resources about construction from the beginning, middle
• 23:06
Speaker 4: to end, all in one place, so that parents, guidance, counselors, principles,
• 23:11
Speaker 4: friends and family that have an influence on our young
• 23:15
Speaker 4: people today can point them in the right direction that
• 23:18
Speaker 4: a four year college degree is not for everyone, and
• 23:22
Speaker 4: it's not a requirement anymore to be successful.
• 23:24
  Speaker 11: In West Virginia.
• 23:25
Speaker 4: There are thousands of job openings, not just in the
• 23:28
Speaker 4: industry that I represent, but also in the manufacturing industry
• 23:32
Speaker 4: and the gas and oil industry. And so if people
• 23:35
Speaker 4: want to stay in West Virginia, they can do it,
• 23:37
Speaker 4: and oftentimes an employer will help pay for that man
• 23:40
Speaker 4: or woman to go get a credentials so that they
• 23:42
Speaker 4: can take that next step in their career.
• 23:44
Speaker 11: And the state of West.
• 23:45
Speaker 4: Virginia has also made serious investments in workforce recruitment and retention.
• 23:49
Speaker 4: And we're seeing the needle move ever so slightly, Dave,
• 23:52
Speaker 4: It's not moving by any stretch of the imagination like
• 23:55
Speaker 4: doctor Brown and Marty McFly on back to the future,
• 23:58
  Speaker 4: but it's moving.
• 23:59
Speaker 11: Just a little bit in the right direction.
• 24:00
Speaker 2: And I think it's very positive too that our institutions
• 24:03
Speaker 2: of higher learning, you know, whether it's a place like
• 24:06
Speaker 2: like a Bridge Valley or We have so many of
• 24:08
Speaker 2: them on the show, you know, from from State to
• 24:11
Speaker 2: detect to Marshall, WVU, all these above that they are
• 24:15
Speaker 2: setting down at the table, Jason, and they're sitting down
• 24:18
Speaker 2: with those in industry and as opposed to the other
• 24:21
Speaker 2: way around that it was for years, these institutions are
• 24:25
Speaker 2: setting down with these companies and saying, look, tell us
• 24:28
Speaker 2: what you need instead of doing it the exact opposite,
• 24:31
Speaker 2: which we did for way too long. All right, mister
• 24:34
Speaker 2: missus employer, what do you need so we can train
• 24:37
Speaker 2: up our students to give you what you need.
• 24:41
Speaker 11: I could have said it any better, Dave.
• 24:42
Speaker 4: I mean, that's the beauty of the way I think
• 24:45
Speaker 4: our community technical college system is structured in West Virginia,
• 24:49
Speaker 4: and that is they are so nimble, they are so
• 24:51
Speaker 4: flexible that institutions like Bridge Valley, like Southern, like Pierpont,
• 24:56
Speaker 4: like New River that we work with on a very
• 24:58
Speaker 4: regular basis, they say to us all the time, tell
• 25:01
Speaker 4: us what you need, help us with the curriculum, how
• 25:04
Speaker 4: you want it taught, so that your men and women
• 25:07
Speaker 4: could be successful, and.
• 25:08
Speaker 11: Let us do the rest.
• 25:10
Speaker 4: And it really is making a difference. And of course,
• 25:12
Speaker 4: frankly Dave, I don't know what we would do without them.
• 25:15
Speaker 4: So we're very blessed to have that system in West
• 25:17
Speaker 4: Virginia that's training that next generation so that we can
• 25:20
Speaker 4: hire them and put them to work.
• 25:22
Speaker 2: Talking again with Jason Visitel to the CEO of the
• 25:24
Speaker 2: Contractors Association of West Virginia, and again you and I
• 25:28
Speaker 2: had a conversation about this not long ago. I think
• 25:31
Speaker 2: that I like the direction that higher educator. Well, let
• 25:35
Speaker 2: me say, education is going in and realizing, as you stated,
• 25:39
Speaker 2: that a four year college degree is simply not for everyone.
• 25:43
Speaker 2: And I'm from the generation you know, a kid of
• 25:45
Speaker 2: the nineteen eighties that was told you have to go
• 25:48
Speaker 2: to college. And I love the fact that you're working
• 25:51
Speaker 2: with kids and your members working with kids, and I
• 25:55
Speaker 2: mean literally kids that have that aptitude that show it
• 25:58
Speaker 2: or at least an interest in it as early is
• 26:00
Speaker 2: third fourth, fifth grade, that hey, I am very good
• 26:03
Speaker 2: with my hands, I'm very good at this or very
• 26:05
Speaker 2: good at that. Let me start doing something now, as
• 26:09
Speaker 2: opposed to waiting until Okay, I'm eighteen or nineteen years old.
• 26:11
Speaker 2: What am I going to do with my life?
• 26:14
Speaker 4: Yeah, And we've also noticed that some of the institutions
• 26:16
Speaker 4: are also taking that same approach to recruiting, you know
• 26:20
Speaker 4: that next generation. There are some really excellent construction management
• 26:24
Speaker 4: programs in West Virginia, particularly at West Virginia University in
• 26:27
Speaker 4: students Technology that is really doing a good job. And
• 26:30
Speaker 4: I know I can speak for all of my members
• 26:32
Speaker 4: that they just wish there were more seats in those
• 26:35
Speaker 4: classes because of those twenty to thirty men and women
• 26:38
Speaker 4: that graduate every year, if they want to stay in
• 26:40
Speaker 4: West Virginia and work in West Virginia, every single one
• 26:43
Speaker 4: of them will come out of that institution with a job.
• 26:45
Speaker 2: I had a quick text here for you, and I
• 26:47
Speaker 2: know you're busy. We'll let you get back to work.
• 26:48
Speaker 2: But I mean I may be doing you a favor
• 26:50
Speaker 2: because I'm getting you. I'm giving you a little bit
• 26:52
Speaker 2: of a break here from the hard work that you're
• 26:55
Speaker 2: doing over there. But somebody wanted to know about some
• 26:57
Speaker 2: of these employers if they offer apprenticeships and then will
• 27:00
Speaker 2: hire those people full time. Do they still do that
• 27:03
  Speaker 2: sort of thing?
• 27:04
Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah they do.
• 27:06
Speaker 4: I mean, our organization is about evenly divided between the
• 27:11
Speaker 4: union contractors and non union contractors, and those apprenticeship programs
• 27:15
Speaker 4: can apply to both, and anyone can go to billwv
• 27:20
Speaker 4: dot com where everything is listed all in one place
• 27:23
Speaker 4: if they want to have more information about that. But
• 27:26
Speaker 4: that on the job training is critically important to making
• 27:30
Speaker 4: sure that man or woman is successful because you can't
• 27:33
Speaker 4: just look at it right from a classroom perspective, and
• 27:36
Speaker 4: those apprenticeship programs are really important and they provide an
• 27:40
Speaker 4: integral pipeline for our companies that are hiring that next generation.
• 27:45
Speaker 2: All right, Jason, give us all the details on the
• 27:47
Speaker 2: show the next couple of days.
• 27:50
Speaker 4: Wvxpo dot com for more information. Everything kicks off tomorrow
• 27:54
Speaker 4: at ten am. The show floors are open from ten
• 27:58
Speaker 4: to six tomorrow and eight to noon on Saturday, and
• 28:04
Speaker 4: if anybody wants to come just for the safety and
• 28:06
Speaker 4: workforce component, please do so, and more information can be
• 28:09
Speaker 4: found on the website. Registration is free, it's easy, and
• 28:13
Speaker 4: if you don't want to do it online, just show
• 28:15
Speaker 4: up tomorrow or Thursday and we will take good care
• 28:18
  Speaker 4: of them.
• 28:19
Speaker 2: I think that's a very important thing to remember because
• 28:21
Speaker 2: you're not going to be if you're in this field, man,
• 28:23
Speaker 2: you're not going to have very many opportunities that you're

Speaker 2: the one year anniversary of Metro News Midday. We started
• 33:43
Speaker 2: what we lovingly call the experiment one year ago today
• 33:47
Speaker 2: and it's been fun. We will reflect upon that show
• 33:52
Speaker 2: and you are welcome to send in free gifts if
• 33:56
Speaker 2: you wish. Now, Amanda, you know, my co gets a
• 34:01
Speaker 2: little nervous when I say things like that, because you
• 34:03
Speaker 2: know she's got ethics and stuff. But me, I'm like, hell, yes,
• 34:06
Speaker 2: send me stuff. Man, I'll take it. I don't care,
• 34:09
Speaker 2: especially meat and cheese. Can't go wrong with meat and cheese.
• 34:12
Speaker 2: So anyway, we'll talk about that a little bit on
• 34:15
Speaker 2: the show day. But yeah, one year I appreciate everybody
• 34:18
Speaker 2: that listens to the show. You know, were somebody somewhere
• 34:23
Speaker 2: got this idea. And Amanda and I have been friends
• 34:26
Speaker 2: for twenty years. I mean, were not new to each other.
• 34:29
Speaker 2: We've known each of the we've never worked together, and
• 34:31
Speaker 2: somebody kind of got this idea. Well, what if we
• 34:33
Speaker 2: took a TV person, a serious journalist to put them
• 34:37
Speaker 2: together with you know that guy and see how it
• 34:40
Speaker 2: works out, and again the response has been great and
• 34:43
Speaker 2: we're having fun with it. So appreciate it because it
• 34:45
Speaker 2: would not be possible without you. So we'll talk about
• 34:49
Speaker 2: a little bit on the show today. Also, we're going
• 34:52
Speaker 2: to continue talking about the state basketball tournament, and one
• 34:55
Speaker 2: of the great stories for the basketball tournament out of
• 34:58
Speaker 2: Class Single A the Tug Valley Panthers winning their third
• 35:02
Speaker 2: straight championship. And what makes this unique, in my opinion, is,
• 35:08
Speaker 2: you know, if you're not familiar with that part of
• 35:13
Speaker 2: the world, and I am, being from one county over,
• 35:18
Speaker 2: Tug Valley basketball is like a religion. I was joking
• 35:24
Speaker 2: with somebody from down there yesterday and I said, it's
• 35:28
Speaker 2: a cult, and they said, well, don't call it a cult.
• 35:30
Speaker 2: I said, well, it's not. Cold is not the right
• 35:32
Speaker 2: word because it gives a negative connotation, but it's very
• 35:36
Speaker 2: important to the community and the way that this the
• 35:40
Speaker 2: community just everything in the world revolves around Tug Valley
• 35:45
Speaker 2: High School basketball and even some of the other sports
• 35:47
Speaker 2: as well. So anyway, they won their third straight single
• 35:50
Speaker 2: A championship, which in this era of transferring and so
• 35:54
Speaker 2: on and so forth, is almost unheard of, but they
• 35:57
Speaker 2: did it, and so we're going to talk to their coach,
• 35:59
Speaker 2: and in thirdy eight years of radio, I feel pretty
• 36:02
Speaker 2: confident I have never interviewed anybody named Rabbit, but Rabbit
• 36:06
Speaker 2: Thompson is the coach and he's going to join us
• 36:09
Speaker 2: on the show today. Also, we have a couple of
• 36:10
Speaker 2: candidates on the show today. A candidate for Supreme Court
• 36:14
Speaker 2: HL Kirkpatrick will stop by the show, and Democratic candidate
• 36:19
Speaker 2: for US Senate or Rachel Fetti Anderson will be on
• 36:23
Speaker 2: the show today as well. Plus, we get to open
• 36:25

• 36:31
Speaker 2: Baron and Me coming to an end today sponsored by
• 36:33
Speaker 2: s Lango Law. On this show tomorrow, we're gonna spend
• 36:37
Speaker 2: some time talking about West Virginia University's Day of Giving
• 36:40
Speaker 2: and specifically things going on here in the Kanal Valley
• 36:43
Speaker 2: related to such. Also, Canawan County Commissioner Natalie Tenant will
• 36:47
Speaker 2: be on the show tomorrow as well. Texts says I
• 36:52
Speaker 2: told you I get some texts. We got plenty. Tex
• 36:54
Speaker 2: says I should not have to give an ID to
• 36:57
Speaker 2: poll workers. Well, voter ID is the law and has
• 37:03
Speaker 2: been since twenty eighteen in West Virginia. And it's one
• 37:06
Speaker 2: of these things that is very very I don't I
• 37:08
Speaker 2: don't want to say, very controversial, but it does elicit
• 37:15
Speaker 2: a lot of response out of people. And I'm a
• 37:18
Speaker 2: firm believer in voter ID. I always have been, you know,
• 37:23
Speaker 2: And I hate to use the tired old adage like
• 37:25
Speaker 2: everybody else does, well you have to use an ID
• 37:27
Speaker 2: to do anything else, but it's true you do. And
• 37:31
Speaker 2: in West Virginia there are several forms that is, fifteen, sixteen,
• 37:37
Speaker 2: seventeen different forms of ID that you could use in
• 37:40
Speaker 2: the state of West Virginia. And I'm a proponent of
• 37:45
Speaker 2: voter ID, especially when they're so easily available, you know.
• 37:51
Speaker 2: But this, the Save Act, could change a lot of things.
• 37:54
Speaker 2: And I understand some of the concerns. And I mean,
• 37:56
Speaker 2: we had Senator Shelley Moore Capito, who's a big proponent
• 37:59
Speaker 2: of the of the bill on the show last week
• 38:01
Speaker 2: and she has some concerns about it. She even though
• 38:04
  Speaker 2: she's a supporter. She said, there's a lot of things
• 38:06
Speaker 2: that has to be, you know, worked out. And I
• 38:08
Speaker 2: mentioned the example of going back to my days when
• 38:12
Speaker 2: I work for the West Virginian Secretary of State's office,
• 38:14
Speaker 2: and we would go into high schools to do voter
• 38:16
Speaker 2: registration drives that as written, you, in order to register
• 38:22
Speaker 2: to vote for the first time, would have to provide
• 38:25
Speaker 2: proof of citizenship. Now that is a birth certificate. Okay,
• 38:30
Speaker 2: don't know that a lot of high school kids have
• 38:34
Speaker 2: access to that. And when voter registration drives are done
• 38:39
Speaker 2: by the county, it's really the county I say, Secretary
• 38:41
Speaker 2: of State's office. Really it's the county clerks that do
• 38:44
Speaker 2: those in conjunction with the Secretary of State's office. You'd
• 38:49
Speaker 2: have to give plenty of notice. All right, Mom and dad,
• 38:51
Speaker 2: kids going to register, They're going to have to have
• 38:53
Speaker 2: the birth certificate with them. And then there are the
• 38:55
Speaker 2: concerns about name changes and things of that nature. So
• 38:57
Speaker 2: going that notwithstanding, Senator cap on the show last week
• 39:01
Speaker 2: said Okay, I'm for it, but we get some things
• 39:03
Speaker 2: we got to work on, and and I respect her
• 39:06
Speaker 2: for that. So in reference of the text, are there, yeah,
• 39:11
Speaker 2: I have I have no issue with presenting an ID
• 39:15
Speaker 2: to vote. Bigley Pickli Wiggly Hotline three zero four three

• 39:32

• 39:37
  Speaker 2: People say it's a texture.
• 39:41
  Speaker 14: Uh.
• 39:42
Speaker 2: Tex says, it's a good thing. You're turning the rest
• 39:44
Speaker 2: of the show over to the listeners because the first
• 39:46
Speaker 2: half was terribly boring. Well that's because of your host.
• 39:51
Speaker 2: I'm a boring kind of gap. Appreciate the text, though
• 39:58
Speaker 2: Texas loved the midday show very much. Tex says it's
• 40:02
Speaker 2: a shame on wvu's athletic department that they don't play
• 40:05
Speaker 2: Marshall and football and basketball. Also a shame on wvu's
• 40:09
Speaker 2: boosters and athletic department. I'm not fielding a softball team
• 40:12
Speaker 2: a Big twelve conference that can't do can't do this
• 40:16
Speaker 2: is shameful. Thanks. I could, if I tell you, I
• 40:20
Speaker 2: could start the show every day, and I do touch
• 40:24
Speaker 2: on sports from time to time, but we get enough
• 40:26
Speaker 2: sports on I don't like to spend a whole lot
• 40:28
Speaker 2: of time on sports unless it's, you know, something important.
• 40:31
Speaker 2: But I could start to show every day by saying
• 40:37
Speaker 2: WVU and Marshall, why don't they play? And I could
• 40:41
Speaker 2: just set back and watch the text roll in, you know,
• 40:47
Speaker 2: and not not really have to do a whole lot,
• 40:50
Speaker 2: because that is a constant argument. It's a constant argument.
• 40:54
Speaker 2: I'm one. And again anytime I say this, people say, well,
• 40:58
  Speaker 2: it's because you're a Marshall guy. What it's because you're
• 40:59
Speaker 2: a Marshy doesn't mean you hate WVU, you know. But
• 41:04
Speaker 2: I'm one that thinks the state is better off if
• 41:06
Speaker 2: we play. I understand the arguments. The WVU has I
• 41:10
Speaker 2: truly do so well, we don't have anything to gain
• 41:12
Speaker 2: from it. So and it's not a rivalry unless you
• 41:15
Speaker 2: win a few. And it's quite frankly, very lopsided between
• 41:18
Speaker 2: my alma mater and between WVU. I get that. But
• 41:21
  Speaker 2: I just I think we're I think we're better off
• 41:24
Speaker 2: when we play at least basketball, you know. But as
• 41:28
Speaker 2: just me Texa says Florida guy here, Dave. Democratic Party
• 41:34
Speaker 2: is working. It's hard now to block the Save America
• 41:36
Speaker 2: Act as they did at blocking the Civil Rights Act
• 41:38
Speaker 2: of nineteen sixty four, Same old racist game they play
• 41:43
Speaker 2: now as they did sixty two years ago, still the
• 41:45
Speaker 2: party of racism are the Democrats today? So apparently it's
• 41:50
Speaker 2: according to a texture. Apparently we got the bird flu
• 41:54
Speaker 2: here in kanawan County, the Office of Agriculture Agriculture Commissioner
• 41:58
Speaker 2: Kent Leonhardt confirming the officially named Avian influenza is here.
• 42:03
Speaker 2: But don't run out in panic or anything like that.
• 42:05
Speaker 2: It was detected apparently in a backyard flock of chickens
• 42:10
Speaker 2: here in Kanawha County, actually reported as is the standard
• 42:15
Speaker 2: by the county to then the state Department of Agriculture.
• 42:19

Speaker 2: need a vote. How can people taking your vote mark
• 46:30
Speaker 2: your name off the voter registration list? Says as true,
• 46:37
Speaker 2: uh Tex says, would in the high school setting be
• 46:40
Speaker 2: a great place to do registration. It would be a
• 46:42
Speaker 2: great setting and provide a call atmosphere and also a
• 46:44
Speaker 2: great place to do a little educational programs about the
• 46:47
Speaker 2: importance of voting. Well, it's as if you read the
• 46:49
Speaker 2: job description of what I did with the Westernion Secretary
• 46:52
Speaker 2: of States Office. One of the things I did, that's
• 46:55
Speaker 2: the way, and you know, the voter registration. I say
• 46:59
Speaker 2: Secretary of State office a lot, but voter registration ultimately
• 47:01
Speaker 2: is up to the county and it's a county thing.
• 47:04
Speaker 2: The Secretary of State's office just kind of helps out with,
• 47:07
Speaker 2: all right, but it's a county thing. And the way
• 47:10
Speaker 2: that we did it when I was in the office,
• 47:13
Speaker 2: and the way that as far as I know, they
• 47:15
Speaker 2: still do it in the office was we could contact
• 47:19
Speaker 2: the county clerk's office a particular county, contact the school
• 47:24
Speaker 2: and say, you know, we'd like to do voter registration drives.
• 47:27
Speaker 2: And as I said, I'm sure they still do it
• 47:30
Speaker 2: that same way. Go into a school. I'll just I'll
• 47:34
Speaker 2: pick Saint Albans High School for an example, because that
• 47:36
Speaker 2: was the school that I went to frequently. Go to
• 47:38
Speaker 2: Saint Albans and you get with the student leaders there.
• 47:42
Speaker 2: If a school had a Republican club and a Democrat club,
• 47:47
Speaker 2: we would try to get both of them together, or
• 47:49
Speaker 2: the student council or whatever, along with the teachers. The
• 47:51
Speaker 2: county clerks would be there as well to do the
• 47:53
Speaker 2: voter registration. But we didn't just sign up people to vote.
• 47:57
Speaker 2: There was, as the Texas said, an educational part of
• 48:00
Speaker 2: it as well, usually us getting up, one of us,
• 48:03
Speaker 2: me at this particular school, given to speech about the
• 48:06
Speaker 2: importance of voting. Totally nonpartisan. I would have students come
• 48:10
Speaker 2: up and say, well, should I be a Republican or Democrat?
• 48:13
Speaker 2: We're raising our hands going now, I'm not going there.
• 48:16
Speaker 2: We're nonpartisan. That's not what we do here. And it
• 48:19
Speaker 2: was a very successful program and it continues to be
• 48:23
Speaker 2: a successful program. But that's exactly the way it was
• 48:26
Speaker 2: done then, and I'm sure it's the way that it's done.
• 48:28
Speaker 2: Now is we get you know, go into schools, your
• 48:30
Speaker 2: registered students to vote, but not just to put numbers
• 48:32
Speaker 2: on the rolls, to explain to them the importance of voting.
• 48:36
Speaker 2: And we had all kinds of little exercises that we
• 48:40
Speaker 2: that I used to do in the class. You know,
• 48:41
Speaker 2: I like to have fun. So what I would do.
• 48:43
Speaker 2: I would go into a classroom and at first, say
• 48:46
Speaker 2: twenty five kids in the classroom, I would have all
• 48:49
Speaker 2: twenty five stand up and I would say, okay, you
• 48:51
Speaker 2: ten people, you ten students, sit down. You didn't vote
• 48:54
Speaker 2: because you said you couldn't get off four and now
• 48:57
Speaker 2: having three or four more sit down, you said you
• 49:00
Speaker 2: didn't like any of the candidate, And so basically you'd
• 49:02
Speaker 2: whittle it down to like two people stand it up,
• 49:05
Speaker 2: and then we would say, okay, these two people just
• 49:07
Speaker 2: decided for everybody else. And it kind of helped to
• 49:14
Speaker 2: drill into their to the youngun's heads the importance of voting.
• 49:17
Speaker 2: And that's why that's why we did it that way.
• 49:19
Speaker 2: Had a lot of fun at that job, Tech said.
• 49:23
Speaker 2: The WVU and Marshall Men's and Women's basketball games used
• 49:28
Speaker 2: to take place every year at the Civic Center. It
• 49:29
Speaker 2: was so much fun to attend. That former tradition needs
• 49:32
Speaker 2: to be brought back. I am a big fan of
• 49:37
Speaker 2: that of that game, and it was played when the legislature,
• 49:40
Speaker 2: usually when the legislature was in session. That's normally the
• 49:43
Speaker 2: way it was. So you get that natural rivalry between
• 49:46
Speaker 2: the WVU and the Marshall factions there and get everybody
• 49:50
Speaker 2: there together, and and I would love to see it
• 49:53
  Speaker 2: brought back, But you know, I'm a I'm a radio
• 49:56
Speaker 2: talk show host, so I ain't got no power. The
• 50:01
Speaker 2: bikes will be rolling through the capital city before you know.
• 50:03
Speaker 2: USA Cycling Pro Road National Championship. Yesterday, a big announcement
• 50:07
Speaker 2: from Tim Brady and the Convention Visitors Bureau about a
• 50:10
Speaker 2: partnership with West Virginia American Water. They're going to be
• 50:13
Speaker 2: sponsoring the volunteer program, and as Tim Brady said, the
• 50:16
Speaker 2: event simply does not happen without all the volunteers, hundreds
• 50:20
Speaker 2: of them to be exact. I talked with Tim via
• 50:22
Speaker 2: text earlier this morning. He was traveling for the job
• 50:26
Speaker 2: and not available to join us. He will be back
• 50:29
Speaker 2: on the air with us soon. The event is going
• 50:31
Speaker 2: to be June sixteenth through the twenty first, great, great
• 50:34
Speaker 2: event for Charleston. Speaking of great, look who's here? It's
• 50:38
  Speaker 2: t J Mendows.
• 50:39
  Speaker 11: Yeah.
• 50:39
Speaker 16: I wake up every morning and never mind, I can't
• 50:41
Speaker 16: use a Bobby line on that. You know, Palladega Knights,
• 50:45
  Speaker 16: did you hear.
• 50:45
Speaker 2: The big announce I know you were busy preparing for
• 50:47
Speaker 2: your show, but did you hear the big announcement? Who's
• 50:50
Speaker 2: coming in concert to McLeay Center. Unfortunately I did not
• 50:53
Speaker 2: enlighten me. Billy Bob Thornton, but really hold on me
• 50:57
Speaker 2: back up. Billy Bob is very big on it's his band,
• 51:00
Speaker 2: and he's very big on the box masterses and they've
• 51:04
Speaker 2: been around for like twenty thirty years. Yeah, but he
• 51:07
Speaker 2: is big on do not promote me, promote the band
• 51:10
Speaker 2: the Boxmaster but they just happen to be led by
• 51:12
  Speaker 2: Billy Bob Thorpe.
• 51:13
Speaker 16: So does he sit in with the band? Does he sing?
• 51:15
  Speaker 16: What's he's a musician? He's a music okay, what's He
• 51:18
Speaker 16: played guitar and he.
• 51:20
Speaker 2: Sings and does a little bit of everything.
• 51:21
Speaker 16: You know what. I'm a big fan and you and
• 51:23
Speaker 16: I talk. We both like Landman his show on Paramount Plush.
• 51:27
Speaker 2: So you know, maybe I'll have to take that in.
• 51:30
Speaker 2: All right, what you got on the show today?
• 51:32
Speaker 16: John Hardy, Berkeley County Commissioner, joins us at ten oh six.
• 51:35
Speaker 16: They had that big meeting Friday night, Dave about that
• 51:37
Speaker 16: data center in the greater Berkeley County Martinsburg area. We'll
• 51:41
Speaker 16: learn about the concerns, see where the project is, how
• 51:43
Speaker 16: we move forward. Coming up at ten thirty, Jason Pizitella
• 51:46
Speaker 16: from the Construction Association talking about the big expo here
• 51:50
Speaker 16: in Charleston. Eleven oh six. Sean Fluhardy, gaming expert also
• 51:55
Speaker 16: a West Virginia delegate. He's on a big documentary appearing
• 51:58
Speaker 16: nationwide tonight on PBS Plus. I want to get into
• 52:01
Speaker 16: the topic of sports betting and why we should not
• 52:04
Speaker 16: increase our tax on it. Sean has an interesting take
• 52:06
Speaker 16: that and much much much more.
• 52:09
Speaker 2: All right, that's uh, put a couple more muches in there,
• 52:14
  Speaker 2: you know.
• 52:14
  Speaker 11: I like that.
• 52:14
Speaker 2: Wilson Meadows coming up a talk line on many of

• 52:22
  Speaker 2: flag our Charleston flagship, isn't I didn't know that. I
• 52:25
Speaker 2: don't know why I said it that way. Just it's
• 52:27
Speaker 2: because I'm excited about the one year anniversary party of
• 52:30
Speaker 2: Metro News Midday today. That's what. Congratulations sir. We'll see
