- 0:00Speaker 1: For those of you who don't know, our friend Nick
- 0:02Speaker 1: Cordero died. I guess if you're listening, it was two
- 0:05Speaker 1: days ago. He died of complications due to covid um.
- 0:11Speaker 1: He died at eleven forty in the morning, his mother
- 0:15Speaker 1: and wife Amanda or by his side. Just for clarity's sake,
- 0:20Speaker 1: he didn't have covid anymore. Um. What covid did to
- 0:24Speaker 1: Nick is what it does to a lot of people,
- 0:25Speaker 1: is it comes in and reeks havoc on your body
- 0:28Speaker 1: and then leaves and you don't have it anymore, but
- 0:31Speaker 1: you're left with what the doctors called lungs that looked
- 0:35Speaker 1: like Swiss cheese. They said it looked like it looked
- 0:37Speaker 1: like he had been a heavy smoker his entire life.
- 0:42Speaker 1: And he was on every machine they could put him on,
- 0:44Speaker 1: and they towards the end they were all on full.
- 0:47Speaker 1: They were wrong. You know, he'd have he'd have days
- 0:49Speaker 1: where he was doing okay and everyone get excited because
- 0:52Speaker 1: something would happen that was somewhat good, and then it
- 0:56Speaker 1: would all kind of go back to zero. So he
- 1:00Speaker 1: was in he was just even to live. He would
- 1:03Speaker 1: have needed a full double lung transplant, and you only
- 1:06Speaker 1: get those if you're healthy in all other ways. So
- 1:09Speaker 1: he the machines were really truly keeping him alive. M Um,
- 1:13Speaker 1: but he was surrounded by um loved ones. And Amanda
- 1:17Speaker 1: is just the ultimate wife. I mean she I can't
- 1:21Speaker 1: imagine a spouse who could have championed her husband more.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I mean she like started this movement online with people
- 1:28Speaker 1: just rooting for them and singing his song. He's Nick
- 1:31Speaker 1: amongst being an actor and a Broadway star and was
- 1:34Speaker 1: also becoming a TV star. Um I was writing his
- 1:38Speaker 1: own music, and so he wrote this song Live Your Life, UM,
- 1:43Speaker 1: which was beautiful, was his first track, and it's on
- 1:45Speaker 1: Spotify and Apple and everywhere. We're gonna we're gonna end
- 1:48Speaker 1: the show with it today. But Amanda would have everyone
- 1:51Speaker 1: singing at three. She would like on Instagram, she'd have
- 1:55Speaker 1: this whole just all like thousands of people across the
- 1:58Speaker 1: world singing his song. And and anyone that would talk
- 2:02Speaker 1: to her about, you know, ways to help Nick on
- 2:05Speaker 1: any any person who deemed her, she would like talk
- 2:08Speaker 1: to them and be like, what what do what do
- 2:09Speaker 1: you know? And she just did more research and and
- 2:13Speaker 1: and she really got so involved and the doctors and
- 2:15Speaker 1: nurses at Cedars, I have to say, were amazing and
- 2:19Speaker 1: did everything they could. But you know COVID doesn't give
- 2:22Speaker 1: a fuck. Really yeah, uh no, it does not h
- 2:29Speaker 1: at all because he If COVID did give a fuck,
- 2:33Speaker 1: circumstances wouldn't be what they are right now. He You know,
- 2:37Speaker 1: I guess one of the hardest things for us, and
- 2:38Speaker 1: you included Donald has been seeing this, you know, young folks,
- 2:42Speaker 1: not believing that, uh, that this can really kill them.
- 2:46Speaker 1: I think it's it's uh. The sad thing is that
- 2:50Speaker 1: um people people I think the young attitude and I
- 2:54Speaker 1: when I say young, I mean under fifty. I'm just
- 2:56Speaker 1: guessing it's like people have this attitude of like, all right,
- 2:58Speaker 1: I don't want to get it, but if I get here,
- 3:00Speaker 1: it's like the flu um. And for some that's true.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And then for some there's what happened to nick Um,
- 3:07Speaker 1: where it's uh or it just destroys your body. I
- 3:12Speaker 1: mean he he had entreating him. He developed all these
- 3:16Speaker 1: blood clots so bad that he uh, he had to
- 3:20Speaker 1: have his leg removed. His blood pressure wasn't strong enough,
- 3:24Speaker 1: so he's the tips of all his fingers and toes
- 3:26Speaker 1: were blackening and they would have had to have been removed. Um,
- 3:30Speaker 1: had he lived. He also was on like you know,
- 3:33Speaker 1: wrecked havoc on his kidneys. Uh, he was on dialysis.
- 3:40Speaker 1: He was on a ventilator which was often at it's
- 3:42Speaker 1: highest setting. He was on he had a pacemaker. I
- 3:46Speaker 1: don't know how we do this show today, but we're
- 3:49Speaker 1: gonna try to do this show today. Well I think
- 3:52Speaker 1: we do it because, um, you know, I could have
- 3:55Speaker 1: canceled doing this, but I feel like sitting around and
- 3:58Speaker 1: joking with you and UM and this and this amazing
- 4:02Speaker 1: group of friends and fans and listeners that listen to
- 4:07Speaker 1: the show. UM is is one of the bright spots
- 4:11Speaker 1: of my week. UM. You know I I I look
- 4:15Speaker 1: forward to this. I look forward to sitting around and
- 4:17Speaker 1: laughing with you. I look forward to reminiscing and and
- 4:23Speaker 1: I feel like I am so useless to the world
- 4:26Speaker 1: right now. The only thing I, only service I can
- 4:29Speaker 1: provide it all is that you and I can make
- 4:32Speaker 1: um a bunch of people laugh hopefully twice a week.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Uh and and uh and remember some old stories and
- 4:39Speaker 1: make people giggle. So I don't want to not do
- 4:41Speaker 1: my your part, my part hopefully which we will. We
- 4:46Speaker 1: will shift to, I do want to just talk a
- 4:48Speaker 1: little bit about how I how I met him, if
- 4:50Speaker 1: that's okay. So we were doing a show called Bullets
- 4:54Speaker 1: over Broadway, which if you don't know, um the movie
- 4:58Speaker 1: it's a Woody Allen movie, UM, with John Cusack and
- 5:01Speaker 1: Diane West. Really great film and m So this was
- 5:06Speaker 1: a musical adaptation. Um, it wasn't new songs, though they
- 5:10Speaker 1: decided to all just use songs from the period. Originally,
- 5:14Speaker 1: when we did early readings of it, it it was gonna
- 5:15Speaker 1: be Bobby knni VOLLI because Bobby is, like you know
- 5:18Speaker 1: in the film it's chazz palmentary, but Bobby is like
- 5:22Speaker 1: such a young chazz popmentary type and such a good
- 5:25Speaker 1: actor and um, and we did a reading and um,
- 5:29Speaker 1: and you know, Bobby, Bobby is just an extraordinary actor.
- 5:33Speaker 1: He's not like a mega Broadway singer nor am I.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I'm sure Bobby would would would would agree. Um. So
- 5:40Speaker 1: the part was like when Bobby did it, it was good,
- 5:43Speaker 1: but it was kind of like, how is this gonna work?
- 5:45Speaker 1: If the guy's got all these big songs. Then Bobby
- 5:48Speaker 1: couldn't do it for scheduling reasons. And Nick came in
- 5:51Speaker 1: and no, one had heard Nick before. I hadn't heard
- 5:53Speaker 1: Nick before. And he starts singing, and everyone just dropped
- 5:56Speaker 1: their jaws on the floor. This unknown guy who was
- 5:59Speaker 1: like John, he was like six five, big tough looking guy,
- 6:03Speaker 1: and then he sang like Sinatra. He had the most
- 6:06Speaker 1: amazing voice, and everyone just everyone's jaws are on the floor,
- 6:10Speaker 1: including one of the beautiful dancers in the show, Amanda Cludes,
- 6:16Speaker 1: who was going through a divorce at the time. Um
- 6:19Speaker 1: and certainly her eyes perked up when she saw the
- 6:22Speaker 1: super handsome six five guys singing like Sinatra. And how
- 6:27Speaker 1: come they always gotta be tall? Let's just get let's
- 6:29Speaker 1: just get that out of the way real quick. What
- 6:31Speaker 1: do you mean, you know? You know, if you're under
- 6:35Speaker 1: five eleven, all of a sudden, women look at you
- 6:39Speaker 1: like you're short. That's not true. It is if you're
- 6:42Speaker 1: under a certain height. The minute you hit six ft
- 6:47Speaker 1: tall out of nowhere, you're a tall person. If I've
- 6:50Speaker 1: seen I've seen it. I'm I'm six ft pause and
- 6:58Speaker 1: a half. No, no, no, no, no, I'm still feet man,
- 7:00Speaker 1: I'm six ft. It's on my it's on my driver's
- 7:03Speaker 1: licensed when I got doctor. You lied to the government
- 7:06Speaker 1: that's what you're saying. No, no, no, no, no no.
- 7:07Speaker 1: But my point is, you know, you say you're five eleven,
- 7:10Speaker 1: it's like, oh no, we can't talk. You say you're
- 7:12Speaker 1: six ft. It's a big it's a big difference. It's
- 7:15Speaker 1: almost like women break out the ruler on you too,
- 7:18Speaker 1: like the long what's the thing that you pull out
- 7:21Speaker 1: of the tap measure, the tape measure. They pull it
- 7:24Speaker 1: out to make sure, okay, you all right, and you
- 7:26Speaker 1: can't be like five eleven and a half. It has
- 7:29Speaker 1: to be like six feet and a half. Once you're
- 7:33Speaker 1: over six ft, you're considered tall. This is what I've learned.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Really tapped into a personal issue here, No, this is
- 7:39Speaker 1: what I learned. Anyway, back to it. So a Manda
- 7:41Speaker 1: season Nix. So they're so they're there, they have their
- 7:45Speaker 1: meat meat cute now with the big thing in the
- 7:47Speaker 1: bulltowere broway and you can see this moment actually it's
- 7:50Speaker 1: best captured on the Tony's So Nick, so we do
- 7:55Speaker 1: the show, and the show is a big ass musical,
- 7:58Speaker 1: big budget, huge dancing. I'm and Nick does not know
- 8:01Speaker 1: how to tap dance. So Nick has to train his
- 8:05Speaker 1: ass off to learn, not just how to tap dance,
- 8:07Speaker 1: but how to tap dance well enough to look like
- 8:09Speaker 1: the star of a Broadway tap dance number. And you
- 8:12Speaker 1: can see this if you go on YouTube and look
- 8:15Speaker 1: up Bullets over Broadway the Tony's that they did a
- 8:19Speaker 1: number at the Tony's and you can see just how
- 8:22Speaker 1: incredible it is and it's so amazingly done, and you'll
- 8:25Speaker 1: be you just won't believe that when you're watching that,
- 8:27Speaker 1: that that guy didn't know anything about tap dancing and
- 8:30Speaker 1: learned for the show. He trained like NonStop, so he
- 8:34Speaker 1: killed it. He got a Tony nomination, which is a
- 8:36Speaker 1: huge thing um to be an actor on Broadway and
- 8:39Speaker 1: be nominated for a Tony. And and we just we
- 8:41Speaker 1: just bonded. Man. We you know when you do a
- 8:43Speaker 1: Broadway show and you'll play just you can't sleep, you know,
- 8:46Speaker 1: after the show, your adrenaline is pumped, you know that
- 8:48Speaker 1: from doing a play Donald. So we would all go
- 8:50Speaker 1: out and hang out and we'd all party in Manhattan
- 8:52Speaker 1: and end up at my place late night and just
- 8:56Speaker 1: had so many great memories together. And uh and then
- 9:00Speaker 1: when I directed Going in Style, I put him in
- 9:01Speaker 1: the movie. I if I don't feelose of you who
- 9:04Speaker 1: saw the movie. He's he plays the butcher that Morgan
- 9:06Speaker 1: Freeman ends up stealing a pork loin from Morgan. Freeman
- 9:11Speaker 1: goes up to the butcher counter and he's like, I'll
- 9:13Speaker 1: take that one, and Nick goes the whole thing, and uh,
- 9:18Speaker 1: and Morgan goes the whole damn thing and then Nick
- 9:22Speaker 1: goes something like whatever you say, boss or something like that.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I don't know, but anyway, it was just kind of
- 9:27Speaker 1: a cool moment where where I got to put Nick
- 9:29Speaker 1: in a movie opposite Morgan Freeman. And then you know,
- 9:32Speaker 1: he and Amanda they had this beautiful baby they named Elvis,
- 9:35Speaker 1: and they and they had always dreamed to come into
- 9:36Speaker 1: l A because, um, you know, he he was on
- 9:39Speaker 1: Blue bloods um the TV show, but really wanted to
- 9:42Speaker 1: kick start the next chapter of his career, you know,
- 9:43Speaker 1: because he people loved him and new him on Broadway,
- 9:46Speaker 1: but he hadn't yet other than Blue Buds really broken
- 9:48Speaker 1: out in TV. And you know the one he wanted
- 9:51Speaker 1: to live in Laurel Canyon because he loved music and
- 9:54Speaker 1: and uh, Laurel Canyon just has this just beautiful history
- 9:57Speaker 1: of of of music. That's that was all the beveloped here,
- 10:00Speaker 1: and he actually bought they bought a house on on
- 10:04Speaker 1: the street that Jim Morrison sings about when he says
- 10:07Speaker 1: Love Street. She lives on Love Street, and so because
- 10:11Speaker 1: because Morrison was living on on the very street. So
- 10:14Speaker 1: they bought this house and they were just in love
- 10:16Speaker 1: and so happy and it was like the American dream,
- 10:18Speaker 1: this beautiful couple, the white picket fence house, the brand
- 10:23Speaker 1: new baby. And then um, and then he had to go.
- 10:27Speaker 1: They had to go pack up their things and uh.
- 10:30Speaker 1: And then when when he was packing up his stuff
- 10:32Speaker 1: in New York, that's when he got COVID came back
- 10:35Speaker 1: with it, and uh, he didn't have any of the symptoms.
- 10:39Speaker 1: This is right at the beginning when everyone was like, oh,
- 10:41Speaker 1: you you lose your sense of smell, you you have
- 10:43Speaker 1: a fever, you know, all the stuff we all learned
- 10:45Speaker 1: right off the bat. You didn't have any of that.
- 10:46Speaker 1: He was just exhausted. He couldn't get out of bed.
- 10:49Speaker 1: And I went and had tests. He tested negative twice
- 10:52Speaker 1: and then um, Amanda finally said, you gotta go to
- 10:56Speaker 1: the hospital. This is crazy. She dropped him off and
- 10:58Speaker 1: she she she she said, she said. While he was
- 11:00Speaker 1: changing the baby, he fainted or something like that. He
- 11:04Speaker 1: lost consciousness or something like that. And that's when they
- 11:07Speaker 1: were like, we're going to the hospital. And she took
- 11:12Speaker 1: him to the hospital and you know, it was the
- 11:16Speaker 1: emergency room, so she was going to drop him off.
- 11:19Speaker 1: She couldn't go in, so she was going to circle
- 11:23Speaker 1: the block and wait for him if I call, I know,
- 11:26Speaker 1: if she was going to serve with the block. But
- 11:27Speaker 1: she was gonna come back. She was gonna say, I'm
- 11:29Speaker 1: not gonna sit I can't come in obviously, I don't
- 11:31Speaker 1: want to sit in the car if it's ours with
- 11:33Speaker 1: the baby, but I'll come back. Just text me. And
- 11:37Speaker 1: she was never able to see him fully conscious again.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He he just deteriorated, deteriorated, deteriorated until the point where
- 11:46Speaker 1: they put him on the ventilator and then and then
- 11:50Speaker 1: it never came back. I mean, he kind of woke
- 11:52Speaker 1: up for a little bit um and there were some
- 11:54Speaker 1: exciting moments where he would where they would say, Nick,
- 11:57Speaker 1: can you if you can hear us look up and
- 12:01Speaker 1: he would do that. But he wouldn't do it all
- 12:02Speaker 1: the time. It was you know, it was only occasionally,
- 12:07Speaker 1: but a man this Amanda would just every she couldn't
- 12:10Speaker 1: be at the hospital, but that there were there were
- 12:12Speaker 1: nurses who would set up a letter FaceTime him. I mean,
- 12:15Speaker 1: can you imagine how tragic this is. You can't you
- 12:18Speaker 1: can't your your partner's nospel. You can't even be there,
- 12:20Speaker 1: you can't be by their side, you can't hug them,
- 12:22Speaker 1: you can't kiss them, you can't cheer them on. You
- 12:24Speaker 1: have to do it over FaceTime. That that a generous
- 12:26Speaker 1: nurse has has arranged. Well, that's that's the that's the
- 12:30Speaker 1: part that's so tragic to me, you know, uh, just
- 12:35Speaker 1: dropping him off at the hospital. And at this point,
- 12:37Speaker 1: most people who had COVID were getting the test and
- 12:40Speaker 1: then they were told after they got the test, listen
- 12:43Speaker 1: quarantine for a little bit and if you got sick
- 12:46Speaker 1: and it was like pneumonia, they were giving you drugs
- 12:50Speaker 1: to combat the pneumonia and stuff. But they were sending
- 12:52Speaker 1: everybody home. So when we found out that he wasn't
- 12:56Speaker 1: going to come home, that was like the first thing
- 12:58Speaker 1: that was like, holy sh it, what do you mean
- 13:00Speaker 1: can't come home? And then he spent ninety days in
- 13:04Speaker 1: the i c U. I mean ninety days in the ICU.
- 13:08Speaker 1: That's he I don't know. It's tragic. And then she
- 13:14Speaker 1: would come back here because she was they were staying
- 13:16Speaker 1: at my guesthouse, but we obviously had to social distance,
- 13:18Speaker 1: and she would be This is how fucking tragic it was.
- 13:22Speaker 1: She would be ten ft away from us, Florence and
- 13:24Speaker 1: I and sobbing, and we couldn't go hug her. We
- 13:28Speaker 1: would literally stand ten ft away from her and watch
- 13:32Speaker 1: our friends sobbing. And she tested negative. She never she
- 13:38Speaker 1: never got it. She never got it. Tested negative and
- 13:41Speaker 1: negative for the antibodies. Yeah, she never got it. The
- 13:44Speaker 1: same bed as him too. Well, when he got super sick,
- 13:47Speaker 1: he moved to the guest room. For what it's worth,
- 13:49Speaker 1: but I mean, come on, they were in the same house.
- 13:50Speaker 1: They were, they were sharing, they were, they were the
- 13:52Speaker 1: baby never got it, thank god. Um. So now he
- 13:58Speaker 1: leaves behind this beautiful aby boy who you and I
- 14:01Speaker 1: are going to be very involved in his life. Absolutely.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Unfortunately for me, his father loved musicals, so I will
- 14:08Speaker 1: be able to do my part. I don't have to
- 14:10Speaker 1: do any of that. Throw a baseball ship, you can
- 14:12Speaker 1: do that. I happened, I happened to be in a
- 14:19Speaker 1: position where his father would really want that boy to
- 14:22Speaker 1: love musicals, so I can handle that right on. If
- 14:26Speaker 1: you can do the spiral, I still can't throw a
- 14:28Speaker 1: great spiral. If you can teach both Elvis and I,
- 14:30Speaker 1: if you don't mind, don't trip, it will be great.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Is he'll come over him and Rocco will play him
- 14:36Speaker 1: Rocko and Wilder will play Yeah. I'll have Rocco show
- 14:41Speaker 1: him how to you know, compete with kids instead Rocco
- 14:44Speaker 1: show me how to throw a spiral. He might be
- 14:48Speaker 1: able to listen. Man, I'm not saying he's super athletic
- 14:52Speaker 1: and can and is like a and it's like a
- 14:54Speaker 1: superstar athlete. But he's definitely you know, he's definitely in
- 15:00Speaker 1: it to when it when it comes to me pushing him,
- 15:03Speaker 1: how about that, well, listen, I pushed him so hard.
- 15:07Speaker 1: This uh, this, there's so much. There's so many people
- 15:09Speaker 1: that love Amanda and and Elvis and UM, we're all
- 15:13Speaker 1: going to be doing our part to help um give
- 15:16Speaker 1: this child an extraordinary life. And you just started walking
- 15:20Speaker 1: and he's just the cutest kid ever. And you know,
- 15:25Speaker 1: I I I I. The last thing Nick texted me
- 15:29Speaker 1: before he went unconscious was I said, is there anything
- 15:31Speaker 1: I can do? And he said please look out for
- 15:33Speaker 1: Amanda and and and Elvis. And I promised that I'm
- 15:37Speaker 1: going to do that for the rest of my life.
- 15:39Speaker 1: And I want to make him proud. I want to
- 15:42Speaker 1: worry you. Don't worry about you. Will you will? You know.
- 15:45Speaker 1: It's funny we have there's all these relics, the remnants
- 15:50Speaker 1: of Nick around him. Where I do the podcast is
- 15:52Speaker 1: in a room where he used to do audition tapes.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And I'm looking right now at the tripod that he
- 15:56Speaker 1: was the last person to to use, and and down
- 16:00Speaker 1: the gym. We have a gym and there's this water
- 16:03Speaker 1: bottle that's it's like one of those plastic water bottles
- 16:06Speaker 1: they give you when you like as a as a
- 16:09Speaker 1: you know, in a giftbag thing. It was from doing
- 16:11Speaker 1: James Cordon, I think. And it's a James Cordon water
- 16:13Speaker 1: bottle that's like three quarters full of water. And we
- 16:16Speaker 1: never moved it because Laurence and I knew that Nick
- 16:19Speaker 1: was the one who left it there, and it like
- 16:21Speaker 1: sits in our gym. It's like a I don't know, uh, homage,
- 16:28Speaker 1: a testament. I don't want to touch it. Um we
- 16:33Speaker 1: both kind of want to leave it there forever shrine.
- 16:36Speaker 1: It's a shrine, that's what it is. Um. So uh
- 16:41Speaker 1: and then not to be preachy, but it would be,
- 16:43Speaker 1: it would be, it would be responsible with us. I
- 16:45Speaker 1: think Donaldson not segue briefly to um just begging people
- 16:49Speaker 1: to u to wear masks. Um. You know, Um, if
- 16:52Speaker 1: you're paying attention at all, you saw how a lot
- 16:54Speaker 1: of people behaved this this holiday weekend. And I was
- 16:58Speaker 1: just I was flat a gast. I don't know if
- 17:00Speaker 1: you guys do well and and Dan you watch, but
- 17:04Speaker 1: there's video of you know, hundreds and hundreds of people
- 17:07Speaker 1: just together partying. Um, I don't think they quite get it. Um.
- 17:12Speaker 1: You know, I don't know what. I don't know what
- 17:13Speaker 1: else one can do. I mean, you can just share
- 17:16Speaker 1: your experience. I don't know how else you can convince people.
- 17:19Speaker 1: But I mean, I think that's as far as it
- 17:20Speaker 1: goes now. I think, you know, to yell at people
- 17:24Speaker 1: to wear a mask a mask? Uh is it seems
- 17:29Speaker 1: to it seems to be a moot point because a
- 17:31Speaker 1: lot of people don't want to do it. Hell, our
- 17:33Speaker 1: president isn't wearing a mask, So you know that being
- 17:37Speaker 1: said to to tell someone to do it, you can
- 17:44Speaker 1: do that but you know, everybody's going to do what
- 17:47Speaker 1: they want to do. Yeah, yeah, I mean what else
- 17:49Speaker 1: can you do? You could lead a horse to water
- 17:51Speaker 1: kind of thing. Um, but I don't know. It's uh,
- 17:57Speaker 1: if you're if you're listening to this and you're and
- 17:59Speaker 1: you're moved at all by by the Nick experience, no
- 18:02Speaker 1: matter where you live, please consider wearing a mask. And
- 18:05Speaker 1: you might think, well, it's not you know, you don't
- 18:08Speaker 1: you don't think it can happen to you. But but
- 18:10Speaker 1: you know, Nick's the ultimate example of Um, it's a
- 18:13Speaker 1: roll of the dice. You don't know. Of course, you
- 18:15Speaker 1: could get a flu like cold. If you get it,
- 18:18Speaker 1: you could also, um, have a really tragic end of
- 18:22Speaker 1: your life, or even worse, perhaps give it to somebody
- 18:25Speaker 1: else that you care about. You know, you might be
- 18:27Speaker 1: just a carrier and then you give it to one
- 18:30Speaker 1: of your loved ones. Um. You know, Donald and I
- 18:34Speaker 1: are in the unique position that we just had a
- 18:35Speaker 1: front row seat to how horrible this was. Um, so um,
- 18:40Speaker 1: please think twice about wearing a mask. Do you want
- 18:42Speaker 1: to get into the show? Yeah, I think we should
- 18:45Speaker 1: segue to some to our true responsibility here, um, and
- 18:49Speaker 1: that is to make the folks we made about a
- 19:00Speaker 1: bunch of nurses around around huge get huge, Get Donald
- 19:22Speaker 1: on on Thursday's podcast, Uh, Ken Jenkins, everybody promises will
- 19:30Speaker 1: be on the show, y'all. Ken Jake Jenkins, the ultimate
- 19:35Speaker 1: fake doctor is coming to out. You know, Donal and
- 19:39Speaker 1: I joked on previous podcasts that you know, we felt
- 19:42Speaker 1: he was gonna blow us off by telling us he
- 19:44Speaker 1: was still moving and um and you know, Ken's an
- 19:47Speaker 1: older fella, and I didn't know if he would figure
- 19:49Speaker 1: out not only the zoom of it all, but we
- 19:52Speaker 1: also record ourselves and then you know, on recorders and
- 19:55Speaker 1: then email it to to Daniel edits it all together
- 19:57Speaker 1: and and thank god, his son is super tech savvy
- 20:01Speaker 1: and super down to help. And so his son is
- 20:03Speaker 1: going to be his own personal Danil and uh and
- 20:07Speaker 1: set it all up for him. And um, so, ladies
- 20:09Speaker 1: and gentlemen, we are thrilled to announced we're gonna have
- 20:12Speaker 1: Ken Jenkins on the show. Very excited about that. And
- 20:15Speaker 1: the other piece of good news Donald that I wanted
- 20:18Speaker 1: to tell everyone, Um, there's been such a love for
- 20:21Speaker 1: the ring tone and uh and and we we were
- 20:27Speaker 1: so happy that you guys love the themes on Ringtone,
- 20:29Speaker 1: but then a lot of people said, why did you
- 20:32Speaker 1: choose one without them? M hm. So I want you
- 20:35Speaker 1: to know that now you have the choice, and we're
- 20:37Speaker 1: gonna put the links up on our on our on
- 20:40Speaker 1: our Instagram and the bios, and I'll tweet it out
- 20:43Speaker 1: and all that stuff, or of course just google it.
- 20:45Speaker 1: So it's kind of like you know how they release sneakers,
- 20:47Speaker 1: like limited editions and ship like that, or as we said, remix.
- 20:51Speaker 1: This is like another one now that one, the old
- 20:54Speaker 1: one's gone. If you preferred the one without them, I'm sorry.
- 20:57Speaker 1: That was a limited edition one that's gone. And those
- 21:00Speaker 1: of you who got it, you got it and it's yours. Yeah,
- 21:03Speaker 1: it's it's probably it's probably worth way more than a
- 21:05Speaker 1: dollar twenty because it was limited. That ship was limited
- 21:09Speaker 1: and it's over. Now you can only get the one
- 21:11Speaker 1: with them, and even better, you can just buy them
- 21:17Speaker 1: and have it be your notification for your text or
- 21:20Speaker 1: your emails. So like we told you were the best, Yeah,
- 21:24Speaker 1: we the best ring tones best major key another one
- 21:32Speaker 1: another one, so you can get the to be your
- 21:36Speaker 1: text notification, which I'm gonna set up myself to be honest,
- 21:39Speaker 1: because I think that's pretty funny. Alright. So so yeah,
- 21:43Speaker 1: oh yeah, So we have a new segment. You gotta
- 21:46Speaker 1: don't you introduce it? All right? So this is a
- 21:47Speaker 1: new segment. We're gonna try and give you a quick
- 21:50Speaker 1: summary of the show in thirty seconds. I'm gonna go first. No, no,
- 21:54Speaker 1: you're gonna go period. But I'm gonna I'm gonna set
- 21:56Speaker 1: up my time right here because this is no joke. Now,
- 22:00Speaker 1: are you ready to do this? All right? You gotta
- 22:02Speaker 1: sum up the whole show in thirty seconds, marks, get
- 22:05Speaker 1: set go. J D. Turke and elliott A feeling themselves
- 22:09Speaker 1: in the beginning of the episode, but then realize that
- 22:12Speaker 1: they're gonna be stuck in the hospital without an attending
- 22:15Speaker 1: throughout the night. That being said, they feel so underappreciated,
- 22:20Speaker 1: so does Ted and his band. But the real person
- 22:23Speaker 1: that's truly underappreciated in the hospital are nurses. And so
- 22:27Speaker 1: we go through all of these things at night, just
- 22:29Speaker 1: to tell you, at the end of the episode, you
- 22:32Speaker 1: know who's really not appreciated at hospitals. Nurses show nurses respect.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Holy shit, that was incredible, dude, that was thirty nine.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Oh man, I've missed it by now. Come on, dude,
- 22:46Speaker 1: that was incredible and you landed it. You landed it
- 22:49Speaker 1: with like a message. Dude, you're off to a flying star.
- 22:54Speaker 1: There we go, There we go. You know what I
- 22:56Speaker 1: did today? I took that alpha brain. Oh it worked
- 23:00Speaker 1: on you. That was the Joe. That's the Joe Rogan pill.
- 23:02Speaker 1: That's the Joe Rogan pill. I took that alpha break.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I would appreciate it since they're not our sponsor. If
- 23:07Speaker 1: you just called it, you're Joe Rogan pill. I took
- 23:09Speaker 1: the Joe Rogan But wait, dude, I'm really impressed. So everyone,
- 23:14Speaker 1: that's our new segment because a few people who aren't
- 23:16Speaker 1: watching the show along with us were like, can you
- 23:19Speaker 1: sum up the show to remind us and our new
- 23:22Speaker 1: segment in season two along with ask Rob. We don't
- 23:26Speaker 1: have an Asked Rob in this one because he's not
- 23:27Speaker 1: in the episode, but is donald sums up the episode
- 23:31Speaker 1: in thirty seconds. He did a fantastic job. Thank you.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Let's take a break. We'll be right back after these
- 23:37Speaker 1: fine words. Okay, So first thing I noticed big time
- 23:47Speaker 1: in this episode is my lisp. It's sincerely list be
- 23:54Speaker 1: episode of I and I and that's edited. By the way,
- 24:00Speaker 1: I mean, I remember Bill being like, he's choosing the
- 24:03Speaker 1: moments in editing that your least lisp by, So imagine
- 24:06Speaker 1: what's on the cutting room floor. Here's the here's the thing.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I feel like. And you know, back then, I was like,
- 24:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna try and fix my teeth. But it was
- 24:16Speaker 1: such a distraction in this episode for me that I
- 24:20Speaker 1: feel like, you know, regardless of what anyone says out there,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I feel like it wasn't my best performance because I'm
- 24:28Speaker 1: trying to talk around a lisp. I see, well, you
- 24:31Speaker 1: were in your head, you were insecure. I'm sure that
- 24:33Speaker 1: comes up for lots of actors, no matter what it is.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I mean, you had a a a self induced problem
- 24:38Speaker 1: because you put braces on your teeth. But you know,
- 24:42Speaker 1: as an actor, it's it's so important to get out
- 24:44Speaker 1: of your head and be present. And if you're thinking like,
- 24:46Speaker 1: oh my god, my lisp or oh my god, there's
- 24:49Speaker 1: it on my forehead. Uh, you can't possibly be present
- 24:52Speaker 1: because you're you're in your head. So you thought it
- 24:55Speaker 1: affected your performance. I definitely feel like it affected my performance.
- 24:59Speaker 1: And I bet you when we finally do take the
- 25:02Speaker 1: braces off, when I do finally take them off. Uh,
- 25:06Speaker 1: you soar like an eagle, Like an eagle. You soar
- 25:10Speaker 1: like an eagle. That should be a ringtone eagle. Another one,
- 25:17Speaker 1: another one. So is this fable that you're talking about
- 25:24Speaker 1: in the beginning? What are you talking about? You're talking?
- 25:28Speaker 1: Oh oh, so there's the funny craigsist directed. I remember
- 25:32Speaker 1: it opens with that wacky shot. I've got the glasses on,
- 25:36Speaker 1: the magnifying eyeglasses so I can look in the janitor's foot.
- 25:40Speaker 1: It's the fable of you know, pulling the thorn out
- 25:43Speaker 1: of the lions paw. Does the lion eat the No?
- 25:48Speaker 1: The janitor adds that, I mean, I understand the fable
- 25:53Speaker 1: is the the I don't know what the fable is really? Right, Well,
- 25:57Speaker 1: do you know it? He pulls out he put like
- 25:58Speaker 1: a mouse pulled dan. You know what? The mouse pulls
- 26:01Speaker 1: a thorn out of the lion's paw. What else is
- 26:03Speaker 1: there to know? It's it's like it's the relationship between
- 26:06Speaker 1: the mouse, the lion, and the elephant. The lion needs
- 26:09Speaker 1: the mouse to pull the thorn. It's it's kind of
- 26:12Speaker 1: like this. It's the story about the circle of life
- 26:14Speaker 1: and how like we all need each other eventually it's
- 26:16Speaker 1: kind of like, I can't do this all on my own. Dan,
- 26:20Speaker 1: there you go, there you go. I'm no superman. Dan
- 26:23Speaker 1: was able to sum up that fable in less than
- 26:25Speaker 1: thirty seconds. Yeah, and the janitors just sucking with me.
- 26:28Speaker 1: He's like, that's no, that's um. Then I kill you,
- 26:31Speaker 1: you know, just to I left at Camp meadow Wood
- 26:35Speaker 1: because um, I improv that little. I laughed really hard.
- 26:46Speaker 1: And first, also, dude, dude, you're so good at pratt falls. Oh,
- 26:51Speaker 1: thank you? Yeah, Oh my goodness, gracious. She's like, I'm
- 26:53Speaker 1: going to describe someone here and you and and and
- 26:56Speaker 1: let's see if you know who it is clumsy And
- 26:59Speaker 1: then uh, John c uh Cox says, don't answer that newbie,
- 27:04Speaker 1: and you look at him and you go, no worries
- 27:05Speaker 1: and you lean against a cart full flat on your face.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, man, you're really good at pret fall.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Thank you. I had. I had so much fun doing them,
- 27:14Speaker 1: and I got it's like anything. Over the years, I
- 27:17Speaker 1: got better and better at them, and I I I
- 27:20Speaker 1: we had great stunt people that that uh would teach
- 27:23Speaker 1: me how to do it better and better. And then
- 27:25Speaker 1: of course sometimes when they were like life endangering they
- 27:28Speaker 1: would do them because that's great stunt people do. UM.
- 27:32Speaker 1: But no, thank you. I love it. I I I
- 27:35Speaker 1: used to love it. You know. Well, we keep talking
- 27:36Speaker 1: about John Ridder and stuff when when we were when
- 27:39Speaker 1: I was a kid and I would watch John Ridder
- 27:40Speaker 1: Fall and Three Company. I mean, I just thought it
- 27:42Speaker 1: was the funniest should I've ever seen, and and and
- 27:44Speaker 1: and he was his body was like a piece of spaghetti.
- 27:46Speaker 1: I just wanted to I just wanted to be like that. So,
- 27:50Speaker 1: but so that means a lot to me. Thank you.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Um the bad title sequences back. I don't think it
- 27:55Speaker 1: has too many, uh too many appearances. In season two,
- 27:58Speaker 1: it's quickly killed. I think it got like four or
- 28:00Speaker 1: five runs. And then now you know we're gonna we're
- 28:02Speaker 1: gonna notice because we're watching, we'll be able to see
- 28:04Speaker 1: when the when the weird slowed down. I can't do this,
- 28:11Speaker 1: see when that's over. I laughed at you scratching your
- 28:14Speaker 1: your your nose with the patient's foot. Yeah, there are
- 28:18Speaker 1: a lot of jokes in here that were like, wow,
- 28:21Speaker 1: I don't like, I don't necessarily like how Turk is acting.
- 28:24Speaker 1: In the beginning of this episode, he was mean he's cocky. Yeah,
- 28:28Speaker 1: well yeah, but he was also misogynistic, you know what
- 28:30Speaker 1: I mean. He had a lot of misogyny going on
- 28:33Speaker 1: in this episode. I mean when you're in the clinic,
- 28:35Speaker 1: well not only when he's in the clinic, when he's
- 28:37Speaker 1: in the operating room and he turns to the nurse
- 28:39Speaker 1: and he says and he says something like, uh uh,
- 28:44Speaker 1: you know what time it is, baby, and she's like
- 28:47Speaker 1: her and you see in her face she's like, wait
- 28:49Speaker 1: a second, dude, who the do you think you're talking to.
- 28:52Speaker 1: He goes on with it and on with it, and
- 28:54Speaker 1: then that's what And at first I was like, there
- 28:57Speaker 1: has to be a payoff for this, because if there
- 28:59Speaker 1: isn't a payoff of the and Turks just a dick,
- 29:01Speaker 1: we got a problem here. And it turns out right
- 29:05Speaker 1: right as I said that Turk has to scratch his
- 29:08Speaker 1: nose and he asks the the nurse in the surgery,
- 29:14Speaker 1: will you scratch my nose for me? And she looks
- 29:17Speaker 1: at him and goes, I can scratch my nose and
- 29:19Speaker 1: then she scratches her nose and she's like that feels good,
- 29:24Speaker 1: and Turk scratches his nose with the foot. I was funny.
- 29:31Speaker 1: There's something in the scrubs Wicky about that guy continues
- 29:35Speaker 1: to change races or something. I think sometimes his leg
- 29:38Speaker 1: is white and sometimes it's black or something. No, I'll
- 29:41Speaker 1: read it to you. Why No, I don't know if
- 29:44Speaker 1: it's true, but I trust scrubs Wicky because our scrubs Wicky.
- 29:47Speaker 1: It says, um, when Turk goes into the o r,
- 29:50Speaker 1: the patient lying on the table has a black man's
- 29:53Speaker 1: feet but a white man's face. Then when Turk uses
- 29:57Speaker 1: the patient's foot to scratch his nose, his feet turned
- 29:59Speaker 1: back to white. That is the weirdest thing. Ever, it's
- 30:05Speaker 1: a pretty funny continon here is I don't know how
- 30:08Speaker 1: that could have happened. But I don't know how that
- 30:10Speaker 1: could have happened. Maybe it's lighting or something. Maybe maybe
- 30:17Speaker 1: it is lighting. I don't know, but it's pretty funny.
- 30:19Speaker 1: I mean, unless it was like a pickup from a
- 30:21Speaker 1: different day and they got a different guy to do it,
- 30:23Speaker 1: I don't know. So at five there's a little bit
- 30:26Speaker 1: of homo erotic scrubs Web stuff where we're like, oh,
- 30:33Speaker 1: I think there's some people who's fetish might be that
- 30:36Speaker 1: we're all hooking up. But anyway, when and I've seen
- 30:40Speaker 1: one where Johnny Ce has me pressed against the wall.
- 30:42Speaker 1: It's like a it's either photoshop or it's a painting
- 30:45Speaker 1: or ball. I think it's it's a it's a drawing, right,
- 30:48Speaker 1: But I think I've also seen a photoshop to one. Anyway,
- 30:50Speaker 1: it's Johnny Ce having me pressed up against the wall
- 30:53Speaker 1: from behind, and I found the moment it's at five
- 30:58Speaker 1: when he's pushing Jordan up against that was the inspiration
- 31:02Speaker 1: for the beautiful piece of art that is Johnny taking
- 31:06Speaker 1: me from behind on the internet. Do you think do
- 31:08Speaker 1: you think we should put that on a mug? I
- 31:14Speaker 1: think we'll be allowed to. I mean, we could do
- 31:16Speaker 1: whatever we want. I don't think Heart, I don't know
- 31:20Speaker 1: I Heart's going to approve. Why would I Heart disapprove
- 31:24Speaker 1: of two men pressed up against each other? No, I'm
- 31:27Speaker 1: just saying it's homo erotic fantasy. Porn might not be
- 31:32Speaker 1: part of the I Heart family. I don't know. Maybe Joel,
- 31:36Speaker 1: you listen, let's send it to marketing and find out.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Wouldn't it be great? It wouldn't it be great to
- 31:44Speaker 1: have that on a mug? I would totally. I would totally.
- 31:46Speaker 1: How about this? How about this. I remember we talked
- 31:48Speaker 1: about how the temperature change because when I was a kid,
- 31:50Speaker 1: we had mugs that when you put hot stuff in them,
- 31:52Speaker 1: they would change, and I thought it's the coolest thing ever.
- 31:54Speaker 1: So it's Jordan's right, but when you put a hot
- 31:57Speaker 1: beverage in it, it turns to I was I was
- 32:04Speaker 1: gonna say, you got me once you said porn. I
- 32:07Speaker 1: was like, I think we have to do it right.
- 32:09Speaker 1: All right, Well, we'll check with the higher ups. Um,
- 32:11Speaker 1: we might have to license whosever art it was, because
- 32:14Speaker 1: they really spent a lot of time turning turning Jordan
- 32:17Speaker 1: into me. We don't somebody have to ask Johnny C.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I'm not your Johnny C would be down, but we
- 32:22Speaker 1: could ask him why not. It's it's it's a mug,
- 32:27Speaker 1: I know, but I'm not sure he wants a mug
- 32:29Speaker 1: of us banging, but I I do. And towels towel
- 32:46Speaker 1: What do you think Jordan and Cox are into some
- 32:49Speaker 1: like kinky shit. Because because I'm gonna I'm gonna tell
- 32:52Speaker 1: you something right now, she says your name, yeah, but
- 32:56Speaker 1: she's just sing she's just sucking with him because he's
- 32:59Speaker 1: got to hang up about the fact that we had sex.
- 33:02Speaker 1: I don't know, man, that would turn me off right
- 33:04Speaker 1: then and there if if I found out the Casey,
- 33:10Speaker 1: right before we hooked up, had sex with one of
- 33:15Speaker 1: my best friends and they kept it a secret. But
- 33:18Speaker 1: I was still in love with her and I went
- 33:20Speaker 1: back to the well. And when I went back to
- 33:23Speaker 1: the well, she called me your name, she was like, oh, yes, Zack.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I'd be like, oh no, but yeah, I think we've
- 33:32Speaker 1: established that they're into kinky ship. I mean, I think
- 33:34Speaker 1: it's been like tamed down for network TV, but I
- 33:38Speaker 1: think it's implied that they're into, like, you know, some
- 33:41Speaker 1: bondage probably and some some twisted ship. Isn't there fantasy
- 33:46Speaker 1: once where Franklin our a d was in a leather
- 33:49Speaker 1: gimp suit, where Marty the smaller janitor, I think he
- 33:53Speaker 1: jumps out and he's a part of the sex fantasy.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Do you remember this at all? I do remember this.
- 33:58Speaker 1: And he punches somebody in the nuts. He punches me
- 34:00Speaker 1: in the nuts. But that's a different fantasy. Marty was
- 34:02Speaker 1: in a few fantasies. I thought I thought he always
- 34:04Speaker 1: punched you in the nuts. I thought that was the
- 34:06Speaker 1: that was his what you're talking about, Well, let's punching
- 34:08Speaker 1: me in the nuts. Punch So I wear a thong
- 34:11Speaker 1: at six o three, I'd like to go back. Also,
- 34:14Speaker 1: good ahead when he comes When Dr Cox comes out
- 34:17Speaker 1: of the room, and Jordan walks one way, and he
- 34:20Speaker 1: walks to Carla and he goes and she's like, whatever
- 34:23Speaker 1: it is that you guys were doing in there, I
- 34:25Speaker 1: don't want to know about it. He goes, why can't
- 34:28Speaker 1: people have a conversation in an empty room? And she goes,
- 34:31Speaker 1: that room is not empty. I laughed so hard when
- 34:34Speaker 1: he looks back into the room and the man's in
- 34:36Speaker 1: the bed with the biggest smile on his face. That
- 34:39Speaker 1: man saw some action. He saw a lot of action. Yeah,
- 34:42Speaker 1: that's funny. Um. But also the thong. I got a thong,
- 34:46Speaker 1: and it was my first and only time ever wearing
- 34:48Speaker 1: a woman's thong. So that was a good life experience.
- 34:50Speaker 1: You know, when you get to when you get to
- 34:52Speaker 1: be an actor, you get to try lots of different things. Um.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Some people become, you know, skilled with firearms. Some people
- 35:00Speaker 1: become expert boat rowers or bike riders. Yeah, some people
- 35:03Speaker 1: become I'm skilled at archery because they're doing sort of
- 35:06Speaker 1: a game of Thrones type thing, right, right, and I
- 35:10Speaker 1: got to wear a woman's tongue and it looked good
- 35:16Speaker 1: on you too. Thank you. I never I never, I
- 35:19Speaker 1: never thought of you as a person with a nice booty.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Thank you. Well, it's small. I think you have to
- 35:25Speaker 1: be into a small bottom um. Some people like junk
- 35:28Speaker 1: in the trunk and some people like a shelf like
- 35:31Speaker 1: God gave you. And then there are people that like
- 35:34Speaker 1: something firm and small, and that's what I offer to
- 35:37Speaker 1: the world. You do have a very tiny booty. It's
- 35:40Speaker 1: like two by four ish, but it's hard. It's like
- 35:42Speaker 1: it's like like like Mutton, like Mutton. It's firm, like
- 35:46Speaker 1: we don't even know Mutton's firm. We never figured it out.
- 35:48Speaker 1: It's very tim Mutton's very tender um. So what about
- 35:51Speaker 1: when the janitor, speaking of of the gay themes of
- 35:54Speaker 1: this episode, when the janitor tries to set me up
- 35:56Speaker 1: with Tim Row who was Raoul who was Bill Lawrence's
- 36:02Speaker 1: assistant at the time. Was he Bill Lawrence's assistant or
- 36:07Speaker 1: was he Yeah, he was Bill Lawrence's Yeah, he was
- 36:10Speaker 1: Bill Lawrence's assistant because Danny got promoted yep. And he
- 36:14Speaker 1: was very handsome man. One of the most handsome men
- 36:17Speaker 1: I've ever seen in my life, Roblem Raoul, and so
- 36:19Speaker 1: he did a cameo as my handsome date thanks to
- 36:22Speaker 1: the janitor named Tim and and then I go, I'm
- 36:25Speaker 1: not gay and he goes, oh, I get it, neither's Tim.
- 36:32Speaker 1: That was funny. Neil had some funny stuff in this episode.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I laughed my ass off when he walks into Romar.
- 36:38Speaker 1: What do you want me to do? You want me
- 36:39Speaker 1: to knock him out? Yeah? And then he's like, oh,
- 36:43Speaker 1: you're saying that, uh that that you can do what
- 36:46Speaker 1: I can do and I can't do what you can.
- 36:47Speaker 1: And I'm like yes, He's well, how would you get
- 36:50Speaker 1: um coffee up off a tiled floor? And I'm like
- 36:53Speaker 1: the rough side of a sponge and he's like, damn it.
- 37:00Speaker 1: It was a funny episode. Man's Band, By the way,
- 37:04Speaker 1: how great is we got Ted's band singing facts of
- 37:08Speaker 1: Life in the elevator? Right? The show starts with Kelso
- 37:14Speaker 1: you know, one of the things that I left out
- 37:16Speaker 1: in my summary is that you know this, this whole
- 37:19Speaker 1: show is is really about Johnny and Jordan's you know,
- 37:22Speaker 1: as much as it's about the three of us in uh,
- 37:26Speaker 1: the hospital. It's really about Cox and Jordan's and how
- 37:29Speaker 1: they're gonna make this relationship work. And I remember Bill
- 37:33Speaker 1: talking early on in the podcast when we first started
- 37:37Speaker 1: about the will they or won't they? And I got it,
- 37:40Speaker 1: but I never really understood, you know, I just didn't
- 37:43Speaker 1: think there was a lot of story of Johnny and
- 37:45Speaker 1: of of sorry, of Cox and Jordan's. And there's quite
- 37:48Speaker 1: a bit of story of Cox and Jordan's, especially now
- 37:51Speaker 1: because now I know what's gonna happen. She's gonna get
- 37:53Speaker 1: pregnant soon and all of these things. But I thought
- 37:59Speaker 1: I thought it was really I would have watched that show,
- 38:04Speaker 1: the Cox and Jordan's show, also because they do such
- 38:07Speaker 1: a great job at at these at these characters and
- 38:11Speaker 1: playing these this this this Roletten. I had forgotten that
- 38:15Speaker 1: there was a lot so much of Johnny's love life
- 38:17Speaker 1: in the show. I mean, Johnny has a whole there's
- 38:20Speaker 1: always this plot about his love of Carla, his love
- 38:23Speaker 1: of Jordan's um as we go on further, he's going
- 38:26Speaker 1: to start um dating other women on the show. But anyway,
- 38:30Speaker 1: so my point was is that Kelso wants Cox to
- 38:34Speaker 1: give a speech before he accepts an Award at the
- 38:37Speaker 1: end of the show, and he's like, why don't you
- 38:39Speaker 1: ask your lackie, why don't you ask Ted? And he goes,
- 38:42Speaker 1: Ted's not an impressive person. And then for the rest
- 38:46Speaker 1: of the episode, Ted's so impressive. You know what I mean,
- 38:50Speaker 1: that's interesting. I never saw that. That's clever. He's so
- 38:53Speaker 1: impressive as that, you know what I mean, from doing
- 38:57Speaker 1: from doing uh, Facts of Life Charles and charge six
- 39:02Speaker 1: million dollar man. But I gotta say, you know Sammy's voice,
- 39:06Speaker 1: you know, it's so good. You know, there's there's times
- 39:12Speaker 1: when he's singing and it's funny and you're just you're
- 39:14Speaker 1: enjoying the humor of of of them singing. But in
- 39:17Speaker 1: this episode, I mean, granted, he's sitting there singing the
- 39:20Speaker 1: fucking Facts of Life theme song and I'm sitting and
- 39:23Speaker 1: I'm watching it, going, holy sh it, he's such has
- 39:26Speaker 1: such a good voice and he's singing so high. Yeah,
- 39:29Speaker 1: you know, you take the good to take them bad,
- 39:32Speaker 1: to take them both in there you have the Facts
- 39:34Speaker 1: of Life, that about facts of that down damn and
- 39:37Speaker 1: gotta grow and show you're growing now. You know about
- 39:40Speaker 1: the fact that bad bad It was amazing, But you
- 39:44Speaker 1: never seems to be living up to your dreams. Suddenly
- 39:51Speaker 1: finding out the facts of life are all about you? Who?
- 39:55Speaker 1: All about you? You? And then I go me, how
- 40:01Speaker 1: about you? It takes a lot to get him. Rock
- 40:05Speaker 1: Sammy goes way higher than that because you're more of
- 40:08Speaker 1: a baritone. He's more of a tenor. Well, he crushes it.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Learning the facts of life. That was amazing. Uh, that
- 40:16Speaker 1: was amazing. And then when Charles and they bust out
- 40:18Speaker 1: into Charles and charge Yes, Charles, I like the guy
- 40:21Speaker 1: who's doing the deep parts on Charles, Charles Charles. It's
- 40:27Speaker 1: always funny when you listen to an acapella group to
- 40:29Speaker 1: just to focus on what the base guy's doing. He's
- 40:31Speaker 1: always doing something like Charles Charles, Charles. Well, he crushed it.
- 40:38Speaker 1: And then I got one question, where the hell did
- 40:42Speaker 1: that trash can come from? At the end of the episode. Yeah,
- 40:45Speaker 1: why are they burning? It's supposed to be like you know,
- 40:47Speaker 1: out of the movie when it's like Rocky when you're
- 40:50Speaker 1: walking down the street in Philadelphia and his brother's singing
- 40:55Speaker 1: at the trash can. This is like one of those
- 40:57Speaker 1: things where the show that technically should be in a
- 41:00Speaker 1: fantasy because they're really not singing around a fire barrel
- 41:04Speaker 1: at the hospital, but but it sort of rides the
- 41:06Speaker 1: line of like, well they found a fire. They found
- 41:09Speaker 1: a barrel and lit it on fire. Next right at
- 41:12Speaker 1: the ram. At the Ram, he's like, listen, he's not
- 41:16Speaker 1: he won't be here for another hour. Let's just start
- 41:18Speaker 1: a fire. Let's start a fire in front of the hospital.
- 41:21Speaker 1: We'll sing in front of it, and that'll be it.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I laughed so hard, Like where the hell did the
- 41:26Speaker 1: trash can't come from? What about when you were in
- 41:28Speaker 1: the clinic and you say, um, that's not enough tailing
- 41:32Speaker 1: all for a woman your size and she punches you
- 41:34Speaker 1: in the face. He had it coming. This is what
- 41:36Speaker 1: I'm talking about. Turk was a dick in this episode. Well,
- 41:39Speaker 1: it was. We were showing the bill was showing that
- 41:43Speaker 1: some surgeons, stereotypically including Turk, are very cocky, and he
- 41:47Speaker 1: needed to he needed to check himself a little bit
- 41:49Speaker 1: by getting punched in the face. He wasn't just cocky,
- 41:52Speaker 1: he was kind of a dick. I mean, I just
- 41:53Speaker 1: I mean cocky is like I'm the best at this.
- 41:56Speaker 1: He was just insulting people. He was yeah, yeah, but hey,
- 42:01Speaker 1: you know, and then what about when the janitor When
- 42:04Speaker 1: the janitor goes, you rang like Lurch from the Adams Family.
- 42:10Speaker 1: I so want him to leave me alone that I accidentally,
- 42:13Speaker 1: on purpose, hung my stethoscope from the ceiling, right, could
- 42:18Speaker 1: you get that for me? And he goes, we're even
- 42:20Speaker 1: And it's all because you took splinter out of his
- 42:23Speaker 1: foot in the beginning of the show. What about when
- 42:25Speaker 1: they're doing six million Dollar Man and Sam goes, you're
- 42:28Speaker 1: gin no no no, no, no, no, no, could be louder.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Do you remember what it used to be? What do
- 42:34Speaker 1: you remember watching that when they did it. He goes,
- 42:36Speaker 1: it's no no, no, no, no, no, no bitch. Oh yeah,
- 42:41Speaker 1: I remember that. But why were there? Why were they
- 42:44Speaker 1: there watching? Because we're in the scene we're pushing the
- 42:46Speaker 1: gurney down the baba and then they come out of
- 42:51Speaker 1: the elevator. Remember we were we were, we were there. Everyone.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Whenever Sam's band would sing, everyone would kind of gather
- 42:57Speaker 1: around because it was so funny and and I remember,
- 43:00Speaker 1: you're right down good memory that they were like, they
- 43:03Speaker 1: were all these funny options that Bill didn't use, but
- 43:06Speaker 1: one of them was it's no no, no, no, no,
- 43:08Speaker 1: no bitch. And I thought they used that for the show.
- 43:17Speaker 1: So when he goes, you're nine, this could be a
- 43:20Speaker 1: little louder. I was like, that's not the line I remembered.
- 43:22Speaker 1: And then and then he got and then he goes
- 43:24Speaker 1: to the other guys. You guys were fine. I love
- 43:30Speaker 1: that they should have put that in. So let's take
- 43:33Speaker 1: a break. We'll be right back after these fine words.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I wanna. I want to digress for a moment and
- 43:45Speaker 1: talk about another topic that's been on my mind. It
- 43:47Speaker 1: got up staged by all that happened in the real world.
- 43:50Speaker 1: But oh, here we go. Ladies and gentlemen, get your
- 43:54Speaker 1: get your phones or whatever you're listening to this podcast,
- 43:57Speaker 1: get it ready, because it's time. It's time to pay
- 44:01Speaker 1: the piper. Motherfucker. Let's go. Did you watch remember the Titans?
- 44:05Speaker 1: I did? I did. He took his earphones off. You
- 44:09Speaker 1: had to sit back and put your earphones on. I
- 44:13Speaker 1: have to. I'm gonna be sincere right now, okay, um.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I I am sorry to you that I never watched
- 44:22Speaker 1: this movie, because I loved this movie and I cried
- 44:28Speaker 1: multiple times. I you don't need to know anything about
- 44:32Speaker 1: football to be moved by this movie. It's funny. I was,
- 44:35Speaker 1: I don't know anything about football, and my girlfriend, who's British,
- 44:38Speaker 1: doesn't know anything about American football, and we both were
- 44:40Speaker 1: sitting there sobbing, and I just have to say, and
- 44:44Speaker 1: this is no bullshit. You are such a good actor.
- 44:50Speaker 1: I really mean it. I really mean it. I'm not
- 44:52Speaker 1: just saying this because I love you. I was watching
- 44:55Speaker 1: the movie just as a film and being so moved.
- 44:59Speaker 1: I thought every one was really really good, and there's
- 45:01Speaker 1: so much talent. Would what's his last name, Harris Wood
- 45:05Speaker 1: Harris is extraordinary too, and uh, everybody, there's a lot
- 45:09Speaker 1: of great actors, but of course I was more most
- 45:12Speaker 1: focused on you, and I just thought I kept thinking,
- 45:16Speaker 1: holy sh it, Donald, as as as successful as you've
- 45:18Speaker 1: been in your career, I believe that you are a
- 45:21Speaker 1: very underappreciated actor. I appreciate you for saying I think
- 45:24Speaker 1: that you're you become most known for your comedy because
- 45:27Speaker 1: you're very funny. But in this movie, you You're dramatic
- 45:30Speaker 1: acting is so good, and there you are toe to
- 45:33Speaker 1: toe to Denzel who some believed to be the greatest
- 45:36Speaker 1: living actor. Right now, I'm one of those people, and
- 45:39Speaker 1: you are toe to toe with him and incredible and improvising.
- 45:44Speaker 1: That whole thing with the smile was so good. What
- 45:48Speaker 1: was that you? I asked you about it and what what?
- 45:50Speaker 1: What that was written? Because you were it just looks
- 45:52Speaker 1: so real and you look so genuinely fucking nervous. Uh
- 45:55Speaker 1: that we you know, most of that was actually written.
- 45:59Speaker 1: A lot of it was written. Uh, some of it
- 46:01Speaker 1: was some of it was was improvised and stuff like that.
- 46:06Speaker 1: But I gotta tell you right now, when you're playing
- 46:07Speaker 1: basketball with Michael Jordan, you can't help but make a
- 46:10Speaker 1: layup or two, you know what. I'm right, that's what happens.
- 46:13Speaker 1: When you're working with Denzel Washington. You can't help but
- 46:16Speaker 1: freaking score the ball, you know. One. You don't want
- 46:19Speaker 1: to let him down. Yeah, and to Yeah, you rise
- 46:22Speaker 1: to the occasion. Yeah, it's like that that Hackney expression
- 46:24Speaker 1: always says, if you People always say, if you want
- 46:26Speaker 1: to get better tennis, play with someone who's better than you.
- 46:28Speaker 1: And I feel that too when I'm when I'm acting
- 46:30Speaker 1: with people. Well, I just did this film with de
- 46:32Speaker 1: Niro and and he's there, he is screaming in my face,
- 46:35Speaker 1: and I'm like, you can't help but react. I mean
- 46:37Speaker 1: you're gonna be as It actually makes acting so much
- 46:40Speaker 1: easier because the person is so fucking good, you're just
- 46:41Speaker 1: gonna naturally react. Um, but you um. There were so
- 46:46Speaker 1: many moments. We paused it a few times when your
- 46:49Speaker 1: abs were on screen because holy shit, your stomach. Dude.
- 46:53Speaker 1: That was back when I weighed one seventy five. I
- 46:56Speaker 1: just think that you don't have to go that hardcore
- 46:58Speaker 1: because that was probably a lot of work. But you
- 47:00Speaker 1: looked really good. Yeah, that was back when I was
- 47:03Speaker 1: twenty five and Wade one. Well, I'm just wanting to
- 47:06Speaker 1: know we flow and I paused. We zoomed in. When
- 47:10Speaker 1: I say zoomed in, I mean we were taking video
- 47:12Speaker 1: of it on our phones and zoomed into your abs.
- 47:19Speaker 1: I'm just happy watched it. I'm gonna be honest with you, man,
- 47:21Speaker 1: I'm I'm happy you watched it. No, and I'm sorry,
- 47:23Speaker 1: no bullshit. I I it's been a kind of a
- 47:25Speaker 1: joke amongst us for so long that I've never seen
- 47:27Speaker 1: this film. And and then I finally said, this is crazy.
- 47:30Speaker 1: I'm being shamed on the podcast. I have to watch it.
- 47:33Speaker 1: And then I watched it and I loved it. You know,
- 47:36Speaker 1: it's got I loved. I think it's beautifully shot. I
- 47:40Speaker 1: loved the score, was really moving, just the you know Denzel.
- 47:44Speaker 1: I mean, I could watch Denzel read the phone book.
- 47:46Speaker 1: I'm just so entranced by him. And of course the message,
- 47:49Speaker 1: which you know, of course couldn't be more relevant to today.
- 47:52Speaker 1: And it's just so moving, it's so it's so exciting
- 47:55Speaker 1: and and by the way, very hard to tell the
- 47:57Speaker 1: story of a full football season in a two hour movie.
- 48:01Speaker 1: And I remember thinking, like, how are they going to
- 48:03Speaker 1: do that? And I thought that was done really well.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Ryan Gosling, It's funny. He's uh, he's become such a
- 48:11Speaker 1: giant star, but he has a pretty small part in
- 48:14Speaker 1: the film. Is he was? He not a big star yet.
- 48:16Speaker 1: I didn't really know where he was. He would he
- 48:18Speaker 1: had he had done like Young Hercules and The Mickey
- 48:21Speaker 1: Mouse Club and stuff like that. But I remember when
- 48:24Speaker 1: we were working with it, he was seventeen and we
- 48:26Speaker 1: were all grown men, right, we were. We were all
- 48:29Speaker 1: all of us. Everyone else was grown except for for Gosling.
- 48:33Speaker 1: And you know, he was the one that we all
- 48:36Speaker 1: wanted to hang out with though, you know what I mean,
- 48:38Speaker 1: him and would would would and Gosling were the two
- 48:41Speaker 1: people that would It was like and and Ethan. Also
- 48:44Speaker 1: when I woke up, I would check to see if
- 48:46Speaker 1: they were working, and if they were, if they weren't working,
- 48:49Speaker 1: if the three of them weren't working, or one of
- 48:50Speaker 1: them wasn't working, I would go and hang out with
- 48:53Speaker 1: one of them. I love Ryan Hurst too, but he
- 48:56Speaker 1: worked a lot when we were making this. And Ethan
- 48:59Speaker 1: supples I think he lost all that weight. Huh, yeah,
- 49:02Speaker 1: he's Jack Now he's like this ripped. Is he ripped?
- 49:05Speaker 1: Yeah he's haven't I remember reading that he lost it all. No,
- 49:09Speaker 1: he's like he's like a gym rat now too. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:13Speaker 1: But Wood Harris, I mean I saw him in the wire.
- 49:15Speaker 1: But I was gonna say I was gonna say that too.
- 49:18Speaker 1: You know, before you saw the movie, I had a
- 49:20Speaker 1: part in your upcoming movie. Before you saw Remember the Titans,
- 49:23Speaker 1: I had a part in your upcoming movie. I feel
- 49:26Speaker 1: like I lost that role to Wood Harris now that
- 49:29Speaker 1: you remember The Titans. No, I don't know. It's funny.
- 49:31Speaker 1: You're so sweet, you know, Donald. I was telling Donald
- 49:35Speaker 1: on the phone about how much I love this um
- 49:37Speaker 1: and and I was talking about Wood Harrison and and uh.
- 49:41Speaker 1: He was like, He's like, I'll give you his number
- 49:43Speaker 1: if you want to put him in your film. And
- 49:44Speaker 1: I was like, that's just it says so much about
- 49:46Speaker 1: who you are that you're you're gonna plug a friend
- 49:49Speaker 1: of yours. Man, that guy's talented. I want to see
- 49:52Speaker 1: more of his work. I literally looked him up because
- 49:54Speaker 1: I just thought, I thought you a big movie star
- 49:58Speaker 1: right now, That's what I said, Florence. I was like, how,
- 50:01Speaker 1: I know this guy's works a lot. He's on the
- 50:02Speaker 1: wire and I amd beat him. So I saw his work.
- 50:05Speaker 1: But I mean, this guy, I was like, this guy
- 50:06Speaker 1: should be a household name. Yeah, he's amazing. So um
- 50:10Speaker 1: So for those of you idiots that haven't watched remember
- 50:12Speaker 1: the Titans out there, tell him, tell him you need
- 50:15Speaker 1: to go check yourself, check yourself, because no, it's really
- 50:19Speaker 1: really good and very moving and great to show your kids.
- 50:22Speaker 1: I mean, what a great film for it's so pg
- 50:26Speaker 1: that kids can see it and and and it's such
- 50:28Speaker 1: a beautiful message of unity, especially during this time we
- 50:31Speaker 1: continue to battle so many civil rights problems. So I thought,
- 50:35Speaker 1: I we're gonna go a little short today because if
- 50:39Speaker 1: that's Okay, I'm sorry to let you fans down, but
- 50:42Speaker 1: I think I could muster an hour of being Joe Vial.
- 50:45Speaker 1: But I might go fetal for a little bit now.
- 50:48Speaker 1: But uh, we love you. We're so glad to listening.
- 50:50Speaker 1: I wanted to end the show. If it's all right
- 50:52Speaker 1: with you, Donald, We're playing Nick song. Oh that would
- 50:54Speaker 1: be great love that. Um are we going to play
- 50:57Speaker 1: the outro and and go into it? Are we gonna
- 51:01Speaker 1: want to five into Knick song? I like that? How
- 51:05Speaker 1: about that to shake it up? I like that that? Um.
- 51:09Speaker 1: I hope, I hope, I hope you guys are ready
- 51:12Speaker 1: for this. This is uh Live Your Life by Nick Caldero. Yeah,
