- 0:00Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, Adam here. And you're about to listen to an
- 0:43alcohol reduction hypnosis session that uses quite a
- 0:47powerful metaphor and it's a metaphor of cloning.
- 0:51So I was working with a client that had a relationship with
- 0:55alcohol that they didn't want. And that was that they would
- 0:58drink too much or they would start drinking and then that
- 1:01would create a chain reaction where they would drink more and
- 1:03then they would feel groggy or non productive or with low
- 1:07energy the following day. And there was a bit of a pattern
- 1:10connected to that. So what this hypnosis session
- 1:14does is it creates A-frame where they get to test out what it
- 1:19would be like to have three different intentions over the
- 1:23next 12 months. The first intention is to do
- 1:26everything as it is, and the reason why it's important to
- 1:30keep. The status quo.
- 1:31As an option is there is this wonderful phrase called
- 1:35whatever. You're not changing your
- 1:36choosing, and a lot of people don't realize that keeping
- 1:40things as they are is still a choice.
- 1:42So we introduce that as the first option, keeping things
- 1:46exactly as it is. They drink just as much as they
- 1:49have been, and with all the problems and consequences that
- 1:52was causing. Option 2 is what they felt would
- 1:56be a preferred option, which is drinking once a week and not too
- 2:00much. The level which was up to a
- 2:02bottle of wine for them would be the level that they knew from
- 2:05the history that they could drink without having hangovers
- 2:08and feeling groggy the next day. So one evening, a week of
- 2:11drinking up to a level where they're not going to get
- 2:14hangovers and kind of health issues.
- 2:17And then option 3 was not drinking at all.
- 2:20And what this is designed to do is to take one of them off the
- 2:23table and then do what they would call a marketing, a split
- 2:27test. And that is comparing one way of
- 2:30living with another way of living.
- 2:32And then they get to choose which is actually better for
- 2:35them based on an experiential level rather than this idea of,
- 2:40well, just not do what I'm doing.
- 2:42It's much easier to change a behaviour than it is to stop a
- 2:46behaviour because you've got all those neural pathways already
- 2:49built. So in this hypnosis session, it
- 2:51encourages her to clone three different versions of her and
- 2:54then see how they live for a year, with each of those
- 2:57intentions as a level of disassociation as the observer,
- 3:02and then stepping into the preferred way of living.
- 3:06Even though it was wine for this particular client, it might be a
- 3:09different type of alcohol. Maybe it's beer for you, or
- 3:11maybe it's a spirit like vodka or gin or rum, something else.
- 3:17So you can just replace wine with whatever your drink is in
- 3:20the session, just kind of intellectually replace it as
- 3:24you're listening to it. Or it might be a different
- 3:27substance. Maybe you want to imagine three
- 3:29different futures, but instead of alcohol, it might be
- 3:33cigarettes or a different recreational drug or a habit
- 3:37that you're doing too much of in the current form.
- 3:41So all of this is going on in this hypnosis session.
- 3:43It's longer than my normal ones. It's right about half an hour
- 3:46and you get to test drive different future versions of
- 3:49you, what's called future pacing or pseudo orientation in time.
- 3:54Now this recording here that you're listening to either on
- 3:58YouTube or the podcast, it has the intro.
- 4:00It has this explanation that I've just done.
- 4:02If you like the idea of hypnosis sessions without that, without
- 4:06the intro, the outro and just the MP3 of the hypnosis session
- 4:10that I actually have launched a very low cost membership called
- 4:15the Hypnotist Secret Circle. And there is a free trial that
- 4:19you can access. So you can get all of these
- 4:23hypnosis recordings, but also videos on there as well free
- 4:27because you'd be a member of the club in the the free trial is
- 4:31either seven days or 14 days, depending on what option you
- 4:33choose. So if you like the idea of that,
- 4:35click the link in the description.
- 4:38And as a thank you for doing that, there's also 22 free
- 4:41downloads. So if you like this kind of
- 4:44hypnosis and you don't want all of the explanations, click the
- 4:47link and then you get 22 free downloads plus access to a free
- 4:52trial of the membership. And if you like the idea of
- 4:55working with me directly, there is also a suitability test that
- 4:59you can take in the description as well that enables you to see
- 5:02if hypnosis is the right kind of thing for you or not.
- 5:04Would you be a good candidate for hypnotherapy?
- 5:07So for now though, because you might get some real value from
- 5:10this hypnosis sessions. 30 minutes, quite deep, quite good
- 5:14for behaviour change. So find a quiet, comfortable
- 5:18place where you won't be disturbed.
- 5:20Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 6:06you breathe in, breathe in that slow, long, relaxing breath.
- 6:13And as you exhale, feel a wonderful sense of letting go.
- 6:22Letting go of any tension, any stress, any worries.
- 6:28Letting go particularly of any tension around the eyelids as
- 6:32your eyes feel heavier and heavier.
- 6:36Breathing in relaxation and exhaling tension, each breath
- 6:48taking you deeper and deeper. Relaxed, so relaxed you start to
- 7:04feel what it would feel like to drift away.
- 7:14And I want you to think of a place.
- 7:19A place that you know now that you will also be able to go back
- 7:27to that same place one year from now.
- 7:36And I want your imagination to choose a place in nature, or at
- 7:43least outside. Maybe it's near a beach or a
- 7:49pool. And I want you to imagine
- 7:53feeling the warmth of sunshine on your skin, maybe even feel
- 8:03that humidity, the heat. And there is something about the
- 8:12sunshine, the temperature, the humidity that just feels so
- 8:21relaxing. In the same way that something
- 8:28freezing cold, like a cold dip in the pool, can invigorate,
- 8:38that heat and humidity can really feel like it's melting
- 8:47away any tension. That's it.
- 8:59Allow yourself to drift deeper and deeper, relaxed and allow
- 9:12that relaxation you feel in your eyelid spread to your forehead,
- 9:19breathing in relaxation, exhaling tension.
- 9:22Just allow that relaxation spread down to the jaw,
- 9:31breathing getting slower and deeper.
- 9:36And imagine what it would be like to yawn.
- 9:38But don't yawn. Just imagine it activate the
- 9:42neural pathway of a yawn. Because even thinking of a yawn
- 9:49starts to release trapped tension, enabling you to drift
- 9:56into that place of ever increasing resourceful
- 10:02relaxation, enabling you to feel deeper and deeper relaxed.
- 10:19And I want you to use the power of your imagination to imagine a
- 10:25futuristic chamber, a machine, something that looks like it's
- 10:33from a science fiction movie. I want you to imagine stepping
- 10:43into the chamber and seeing the number 3 and pressing #3 and
- 10:54then imagine a surge of energy, the crackle of power.
- 11:06And then imagine as you leave the chamber, you see three
- 11:14people that look exactly like you.
- 11:21Imagine how it would feel to have cloned yourself three
- 11:25times. You are still you, but there are
- 11:31now three different versions of you.
- 11:37And we can consider this an experiment, a social experiment,
- 11:52to see the impact of three different ways of living over a
- 11:59year. I want you to sit down with the
- 12:071st and explain to them that you want them to keep drinking
- 12:16alcohol to the same level and in the same ways that they've
- 12:22always done. To tell themselves that they
- 12:29should reduce, but they really won't.
- 12:33To overindulge. To have those hangovers, the
- 12:41days where they feel sluggish, drained of energy.
- 12:50We tell that version of you that this should be the most fun.
- 12:56But deep down, knowing it probably wouldn't be, Consider
- 13:02this the status quo, how it's always been.
- 13:12And you've heard that saying that if you keep doing what
- 13:20you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got.
- 13:29And this is the first version of you.
- 13:33And immediately see that version pour themselves a glass of wine.
- 13:39No limits, no restrictions. They get to drink as much as
- 13:43they want. And you tell them that you will
- 13:48meet them back here one year from now.
- 13:53And off they go, living their life and then sit down with the
- 14:05second clone of you. Now the plan for this second
- 14:17version of you is to have a boundary, a guideline, a way of
- 14:32finding perhaps moderation. This second clone of you, you're
- 14:42briefing them that once per week they can have one afternoon or
- 14:52evening where they can drink up to a bottle of whatever wine
- 14:58they choose, but only once per week.
- 15:08And if it's once per week, then it makes sense for them to be
- 15:13discerning as to what they're drinking, when they're drinking,
- 15:20and who they are drinking with. Imagine this clone asking you
- 15:29questions, testing the boundaries like the
- 15:36velociraptors in Jurassic Park, seeing if there's any
- 15:42weaknesses, but find yourself being very clear.
- 15:50A maximum of once per week up to a bottle.
- 15:58But they get all the choices about how they make that happen.
- 16:07And if that second clone understands the brief, the
- 16:10remit, let me know by nodding your head and allow them to ask
- 16:18any questions. What happens if they have too
- 16:24much and maybe an idea pops into your head that if they have too
- 16:38much that means they have less in the future.
- 16:47Or if they go over that one bottle limit then they have to
- 16:53have two weeks before they can have another bottle on one
- 17:02evening again. But allow your unconscious to
- 17:08listen to the questions and then find something fair and
- 17:15reasonable. And if your clone agrees with
- 17:22this brief, this remit, then arrange to meet them in this
- 17:29same location one year from now. And you get to evaluate the
- 17:36impact and see that version of you going away, already thinking
- 17:44about what afternoon or evening will be the one that they enjoy
- 17:52a bottle of wine and then sit down with your third clone.
- 18:11This version of you already knows that you can be without
- 18:17alcohol and enjoy yourself. This version of you knows that
- 18:26you sleep better, have more energy, feel more desire to be
- 18:34more active, accomplish more. The brief to this version of you
- 18:47is not not to drink alcohol, but to find other ways.
- 19:02To enjoy, to connect, to socialize that don't involve
- 19:08alcohol. This is a future of strategic
- 19:15substitutions, swapping one thing for something else to
- 19:25increase the quality of your life without needing alcohol to
- 19:32be a part of it. This version of you requires
- 19:38more creativity, more problem solving.
- 19:49But we'll probably have even more health benefits, social
- 19:57benefits. Even cognitive benefits, because
- 20:05sometimes when the door is completely closed, you start
- 20:12looking for open doors without worrying or wondering when that
- 20:19closed door will open again. And allow that version of you to
- 20:28ask. Ask you questions.
- 20:34Help them to clarify what that future of no alcohol at all
- 20:40means. When that third clone of you
- 20:49fully understands the brief, let me know by nodding her head.
- 20:56And then arrange to meet them back in this same location one
- 21:03year from now. And then imagine they've all
- 21:12gone their separate ways, but you go into the chamber, that
- 21:20futuristic chamber that can clone yourself but also distort
- 21:25time. And inside the chamber, I want
- 21:30you to see three screens. I want you to see the first
- 21:37screen showing you the key events over the next year of
- 21:42that first version of you that was drinking whenever they
- 21:45wanted. Maybe see them looking groggy,
- 21:53gaining weight, missing out on the freedom to explore new
- 22:02places. Whatever comes up on that
- 22:07screen, just allow it to reveal real or possible consequences of
- 22:15that version of you. And then look at the second
- 22:19screen, the version of you that's figured out how to enjoy
- 22:26alcohol responsibly. 1 evening per week.
- 22:34See the positives, but also anything that isn't quite right,
- 22:40that could be refined and amended.
- 22:44But over the year, that version of you figured out how to make
- 22:47it work. Choice of glasses, choice of
- 22:52wine, choice of location, and even day of the week.
- 22:56They figured out a way to make it work for them, but also see
- 23:01that they were happy socializing, meeting with
- 23:06friends, eating in restaurants, and not needing alcohol to enjoy
- 23:14those social occasions. And then look at the third
- 23:20screen, the version of you that is enjoying your life without
- 23:26alcohol being a part of it. Maybe it reveals something
- 23:33surprising or creative, new ways for you to feel a certain way,
- 23:41to enjoy life, to feel connected, to relax after a
- 23:46difficult day. Just allow the screens to reveal
- 23:55insights like you're seeing yourself, like other people,
- 24:00living three different lives, and allow your intuition to
- 24:07reveal a feeling as to which of these three lives feels more
- 24:14appealing to you. And in the same way that a movie
- 24:22can condense a lifetime down to an hour and a half, imagine
- 24:30these screens can condense a year down to just a few minutes.
- 24:37Because when you leave the chamber, a year has passed and
- 24:46the first person you meet when you leave the chamber is that
- 24:51version of you drinking whatever they wanted as much as they
- 25:00wanted, living life in that way. When you meet them, make an
- 25:09evaluation their health, well-being, levels of happiness.
- 25:21Maybe look for signs of tiredness around the rise.
- 25:27The key thing that reveals health issues is the biggest
- 25:31organ in the human body, the skin.
- 25:36Look at the skin of that version of you that's drunk without
- 25:41limit, no restrictions for a year.
- 25:45Not to judge, just to evaluate. And then have a conversation
- 25:55with that version of you to figure out if this is the kind
- 26:04of future you would like. Consider it almost like trying
- 26:08on clothes in a fitting room. There are three versions of you
- 26:14and you get to decide which one is most appealing.
- 26:24Ask that version of you what the worst consequences or worst part
- 26:31of drinking without any limitation was.
- 26:36Maybe it is the energy levels, maybe there was a health issue,
- 26:39maybe something else. But when you feel you have
- 26:44enough information, let me know by nodding your head.
- 26:52Allow them to move to the side and then see the second version
- 26:59of you. The version of you that found a
- 27:03way to enjoy alcohol once per week and again.
- 27:11See them evaluate the health, happiness, quality of life.
- 27:21Maybe they look slimmer, Maybe they look healthier.
- 27:31Evaluate the stress levels. Evaluate it all.
- 27:38Ask them about the good and the not so good drinking this way
- 27:46where once per week they have up to a bottle of wine.
- 27:56And if you feel you have enough information to make a discerning
- 28:03evaluation, let me know by nodding your head.
- 28:08That's it. And say goodbye to them, just
- 28:10briefly, and then see the version of you, your clone the
- 28:16whole year, without any alcohol whatsoever.
- 28:21Again, you get to evaluate their health, the energy levels, and
- 28:29maybe there's something surprising about this version of
- 28:34you, something you weren't expecting.
- 28:40I want you to ask them what they did as strategic substitutes,
- 28:55those inspiring alternatives that still led to a good quality
- 29:00of life even though alcohol wasn't there.
- 29:12Treat this like intuitive reconnaissance test driving
- 29:21different ways of living to make the decision, but to figure out
- 29:29the two versions of you you'd like to try.
- 29:40When you have enough information about the third version of you
- 29:43to make an evaluation a decision, let me know by nodding
- 29:46your head. And now, with all three of them
- 29:58standing in front of you, you have to decide which of the
- 30:03three you wouldn't like to try this next year.
- 30:11One of them will just be less appealing than the other two.
- 30:17And this isn't a spontaneous, mindless decision.
- 30:26This is a thoughtful, intuitive decision and when you've decided
- 30:37which one you would like to remove from your future, let me
- 30:44know by nodding your head and I would like you with the
- 30:53remaining 2 to take away any feelings of pressure, struggle,
- 31:02discipline to treat the next 12 months like a real life
- 31:12experiment that you will test both futures to figure out which
- 31:20one works best for you. Some people say don't guess test
- 31:35and you get to test in your own way.
- 31:39That could be 6 months of one and six months of the other.
- 31:45It could be one month of one and one month of the other where you
- 31:51could simply alternate weeks. But I'd like you to allow your
- 31:59intuition to decide which feels most appealing to test these
- 32:06different versions of you, knowing that through experience
- 32:13you're likely to find a winner. And when you find that winner,
- 32:21that becomes your ideal way of living.
- 32:27That doesn't mean you're a slave to that, because you can refine
- 32:31it as often as you need to, but refining something that is
- 32:37already wonderful is more effective than doing something
- 32:45that doesn't work at all. And when your intuition, your
- 32:51unconscious, knows how you will test these two different
- 32:59versions of you, let me know by nodding your head.
- 33:04That's it. And I want you to step into the
- 33:10one that you'll be trialling first.
- 33:14It doesn't matter which one. What's important is that you're
- 33:17stepping into the version of you that you're trialling first.
- 33:25And you know the length of time you're trialling this version,
- 33:31knowing that the first trial isn't about perfection, it's
- 33:36about figuring out how to make this way of living work for you.
- 33:42Any minor setbacks is just a feedback loop.
- 33:47The different conversations, different decisions, different
- 33:50refinements until you make that way of living workable, viable,
- 33:58experiential. And now that you're in that
- 34:02version of you start to think what the next few days and weeks
- 34:07would be like. And deciding in advance the time
- 34:15that you hand over the baton to that other version of you.
- 34:20And when you know in advance what the future is intending to
- 34:28be like, let me know by nodding your head.
- 34:33That's in stay in this body, return to the chamber and then
- 34:45see the number one. These three versions become one.
- 34:53Knowing that you're testing two different ways of living, it's
- 35:00time to return to the presence. Take a deep breath in through
- 35:02your nose and out through your nose.
- 35:07Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 35:08That's in as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you
- 35:14starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert. 7-8, open your
- 35:22eyes. Open your eyes 910 Wide awake,
- 35:26Wide awake. Wide awake.
