- 0:00Speaker 1: My name is Trenton Cotton and I'm from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
- 0:04Speaker 1: And yes, black people live there. When I met Nate
- 0:09Speaker 1: three years ago and then going on the road with him,
- 0:12Speaker 1: you know, he's thrown me in the trenches and whether
- 0:16Speaker 1: it was showing up late to shows and I'm up
- 0:18Speaker 1: there stretching. in front of like a crowd of 400 plus.
- 0:23Speaker 1: And I feel like Nate has just seen me grown
- 0:25Speaker 1: in these three years where he's like, nah, man, you
- 0:27Speaker 1: got to be a part of the first one because,
- 0:29Speaker 1: you know, I've seen you grow and I know you're
- 0:31Speaker 1: ready for something like this. So yeah, very appreciative. I
- 0:35Speaker 1: still remember Being 10, 11 years old, they were selling
- 0:40Speaker 1: the deaf comedy champs and the VHS tapes. I remember
- 0:42Speaker 1: watching the Chris Tucker one. He was wearing a Colorado
- 0:45Speaker 1: Rockies baseball jersey, and he was doing like a Michael
- 0:48Speaker 1: Jackson bit. And I'm just like, yo, and this was
- 0:50Speaker 1: before Chris Tucker was Chris Tucker. This girl broke up
- 0:53Speaker 1: with me, and I invited my office, her, and a
- 0:55Speaker 1: whole bunch of people. And I killed, and then she
- 0:59Speaker 1: still didn't want nothing to do with me. But then
- 1:02Speaker 1: I was like, well, whatever, because I figured comedy out,
- 1:04Speaker 1: so I'm about to take the game over. And then
- 1:06Speaker 1: the second little open mic I went to, I bombed,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and then I didn't touch the comedy stage again for
- 1:11Speaker 1: another five, six years after that. Yeah, I was in
- 1:15Speaker 1: the Air Force for four years, but my dad, my
- 1:18Speaker 1: granddad before him, they all were in the Army. So
- 1:22Speaker 1: anybody black living in Colorado Springs, that's how you ended
- 1:25Speaker 1: up there. Somebody in your family was in the military,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and then after they retired, everybody stayed put.
