- 0:06Speaker 1: Hey guys, we are back on Normally, the show with
- 0:08Speaker 1: normal-ish takes for when the news gets weird. I'm Mary
- 0:11Speaker 1: Katherine Camp.
- 0:12Speaker 2: I'm Carol Markowitz. This is another, is it Friday yet
- 0:16Speaker 2: kind of situation over here.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Are these weeks super long or is it just me?
- 0:21Speaker 1: I understand. The grind can be real. This morning we had,
- 0:25Speaker 1: you know, there's just like mom things in your head.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Picture day and apples for one class. For some reason.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Okay. Okay.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Yep, yep.
- 0:36Speaker 2: My middle son is in eighth grade, so they took
- 0:39Speaker 2: their eighth grade graduation picture already. So he had to
- 0:44Speaker 2: put on a shirt and tie last week. And he grows,
- 0:49Speaker 2: he hulks out of all of his clothing every few days.
- 0:53Speaker 3: So it was like.
- 0:54Speaker 2: the clothing that we thought might fit four days prior
- 0:57Speaker 2: might not anymore. Yeah.
- 0:59Speaker 1: All those kids are going to be three inches taller.
- 1:01Speaker 3: By the time we get to them.
- 1:02Speaker 2: And have like a beard.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Yes. yes but we we made it through the um
- 1:10Speaker 1: my son has very long curly hair right now not
- 1:13Speaker 1: very long but it's just like it's shaggy uh because
- 1:16Speaker 1: i have a plan for a halloween costume that requires
- 1:19Speaker 1: his hair to be long so i'm being.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I love that you're like we're doing real world stuff
- 1:24Speaker 2: to plan for the halloween costume.
- 1:25Speaker 1: So i'm keeping it but you can tell his teacher
- 1:28Speaker 1: kept telling me every time she saw me that, you know,
- 1:33Speaker 1: picture day is coming up. And I swear she's like,
- 1:36Speaker 1: this woman will cut his hair by picture day.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Nope.
- 1:40Speaker 1: We moosed it up.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Halloween, far more important.
- 1:45Speaker 1: You'll have to learn that my dedication to Halloween costumes
- 1:49Speaker 1: is greater than my dedication to conventional grooming for this child.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Totally right.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Outweighs it by far.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yeah. So that's where we are.
- 1:57Speaker 3: That is where we are. And it's still September, right?
- 2:00Speaker 2: Like this year is also just not progressing.
- 2:05Speaker 1: We're going to make it.
- 2:07Speaker 2: So you say.
- 2:08Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:08Speaker 1: We'll see if we make it.
- 2:09Speaker 2: We will see.
- 2:10Speaker 1: At least in this segment, you can be thankful for
- 2:13Speaker 1: living in the very sensible state of Florida because we're
- 2:15Speaker 1: going to do a liberal blue state, blue city governance
- 2:19Speaker 1: roundup because I just had a bunch of stuff come
- 2:22Speaker 1: across my radar that I thought, my gosh, let's highlight
- 2:26Speaker 1: this a little bit. First up, San Francisco, where a
- 2:32Speaker 1: member of a panel that oversees law enforcement, of course,
- 2:37Speaker 1: was a felon put in jail when he was a
- 2:41Speaker 1: teenager for having accidentally held up at gunpoint an undercover officer. Whoops.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Then he's put on this panel. And wouldn't you know it,
- 2:52Speaker 1: it turns out he abuses his position because to get
- 2:56Speaker 1: out of other crimes he's committing or suspected of committing
- 3:01Speaker 1: on tape.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Is that wrong?
- 3:03Speaker 3: Should he not have done that?
- 3:04Speaker 1: He's on tape.
- 3:07Speaker 2: San Francisco, who even knows if that's wrong?
- 3:09Speaker 1: No, I mean, it could be actually better.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:12Speaker 1: He's on tape using his position to threaten officers who
- 3:15Speaker 1: pull him over. It's alleged that he used his position
- 3:18Speaker 1: in part to take advantage of women. who allege he
- 3:21Speaker 1: may have forced himself on them.
- 3:23Speaker 3: We're pretty sure that's illegal still in San Francisco.
- 3:27Speaker 1: So now San Francisco is having to go through a
- 3:29Speaker 1: huge process of removing him, which is a whole other
- 3:34Speaker 1: to-do on which they must spend time and money because
- 3:37Speaker 1: they can't just be sensible and either A, not put
- 3:40Speaker 1: him on to begin with, or B, immediately remove him
- 3:43Speaker 1: when it's clear he's a problem. They have to have
- 3:45Speaker 1: a whole thing.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:48Speaker 3: And I'm sure he has his defenders, right?
- 3:50Speaker 2: Like it's the fascist, racist system that holds him down.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Well, and it's important to have the viewpoint of someone
- 4:00Speaker 1: who actively abuses his power to regulate those who he
- 4:04Speaker 1: suspects of abusing power, right? I mean, he really knows
- 4:09Speaker 1: his subject, right?
- 4:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that's tough.
- 4:13Speaker 2: You highlighted a segment here. The woman told The Chronicle
- 4:17Speaker 2: that Palmer gave her drugs, took her to his home,
- 4:19Speaker 2: and coerced her into sex before police separated them and
- 4:22Speaker 2: placed her on an involuntary mental health hold. Palmer told
- 4:26Speaker 2: The Chronicle that he was acting as her quote-unquote life coach,
- 4:29Speaker 2: a claim he repeated in a letter to the chief
- 4:31Speaker 2: of staff for District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. Good stuff. Some
- 4:35Speaker 2: life coaching. Yeah.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Stay away from that kind of life coaching.
- 4:41Speaker 2: In other news.
- 4:42Speaker 1: But.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Surely that's it for liberal jurisdictions, right? No, no, no.
- 4:47Speaker 1: In my neck of the woods, we have the parole
- 4:50Speaker 1: board in Virginia, which was completely... wiped out and replaced
- 4:55Speaker 1: under the, as you know, moderate Governor Abigail Spanberger's tenure.
- 5:01Speaker 1: And we're getting some results from that parole board now.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And Nick Minock, who reports in Virginia, has the news
- 5:08Speaker 1: on that. We have a little clip from this.
- 5:09Speaker 2: That's right.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Very few people were granted parole under Governor Glenn Youngkin's
- 5:15Speaker 4: parole board. But under Governor Spanberger's parole board, criminals are
- 5:19Speaker 4: 10 times more likely to be granted parole. A Virginia
- 5:23Speaker 4: family learned that the hard way.
- 5:25Speaker 2: He killed my sister. He killed her.
- 5:29Speaker 3: My life would never be the same no more.
- 5:32Speaker 4: On Thursday, family members of Christine Allen pleaded with the
- 5:35Speaker 4: Virginia Parole Board not to grant Christine's killer parole. When
- 5:39Speaker 4: Christine was murdered, her daughter was only three months old.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Three months old.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Her daughter never had the opportunity to know her mother.
- 5:48Speaker 3: That is the lasting impact of Christine's murder.
- 5:51Speaker 4: According to authorities in 1998, Christine was found stabbed to
- 5:54Speaker 4: death at the Fairfax County home she shared with Troy DeMar.
- 5:59Speaker 4: DeMar testified that he did not kill Allen, but the
- 6:02Speaker 4: jury found him guilty of second-degree murder and recommended the
- 6:06Speaker 4: maximum sentence.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Please. He need to do 40 years. We was told
- 6:11Speaker 2: 40 years with no parole. I think it should be honored.
- 6:14Speaker 4: The convicted murderer made his case to the parole board.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Well, at this time, I would say that I'm a
- 6:18Speaker 2: totally different person from years ago.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I'm asking the parole board to see me. The parole
- 6:24Speaker 1: board video in that clip goes on to praise him
- 6:28Speaker 1: for all the good things he done while in prison
- 6:32Speaker 1: and to hit all these marks. Elections have consequences, man.
- 6:36Speaker 1: And my heart aches for this family that says we
- 6:39Speaker 1: were told 40 years without parole. And now we're hearing
- 6:42Speaker 1: y'all are going to let him go.
- 6:43Speaker 3: And they did.
- 6:45Speaker 1: He's going to be out. And in addition to that,
- 6:47Speaker 1: there is a Virginia referendum in November that would restore
- 6:52Speaker 1: full voting rights to felons like this man who are
- 6:56Speaker 1: let out on parole if it passes in November.
- 7:00Speaker 3: So the thing is that I am fully with you.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Elections have consequences, but it's unfair and it's wrong that
- 7:07Speaker 2: Abigail Spanberger did not run like one of these. I
- 7:10Speaker 2: want to close down prisons. I want there to be
- 7:12Speaker 2: no jails. I want people to, you know, get off
- 7:16Speaker 2: for crimes and have to do community service instead. I
- 7:19Speaker 2: want social workers and not police officers.
- 7:21Speaker 3: She ran as a moderate.
- 7:23Speaker 1: And yet not only that, she ran as a moderate
- 7:26Speaker 1: who touted her law enforcement background.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Right. Right.
- 7:30Speaker 3: And that's the thing.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And look, you know, we started this saying, I'm grateful
- 7:35Speaker 2: to live in Florida, but like we have moderates in
- 7:37Speaker 2: Florida who vote with the crazy left. It's like the
- 7:41Speaker 2: moderate Democrat gets pressured into behaving like a leftist anyway.
- 7:46Speaker 2: So If you have a moderate Democrat in your state
- 7:49Speaker 2: and you're thinking like, oh, but this one's good, you
- 7:51Speaker 2: have to remember that they get a lot of pressure.
- 7:53Speaker 2: They're the first line of pressure, actually, from the left.
- 7:56Speaker 2: And a lot of them do not stand up to
- 7:59Speaker 2: it and cannot stand up to it. And you have
- 8:01Speaker 2: the situation that they have in Virginia right now. Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 1: And I'm at the point, if I'm any indicator, I mean,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I'm a suburban college educated woman voter, which is the
- 8:09Speaker 1: highest propensity voter there is. And I have gotten to
- 8:12Speaker 1: the point where when I'm out with my kids at
- 8:14Speaker 1: local parks and choosing hiking trails, I have I am
- 8:18Speaker 1: modifying my behavior based on the relative safety I am
- 8:23Speaker 1: guaranteed of. by this current administration and the way they
- 8:26Speaker 1: do business and my local prosecutor, who is a liberal
- 8:29Speaker 1: Soros-funded prosecutor who lets a bunch of people out of jail.
- 8:32Speaker 1: So I have started modifying behavior based upon that, and
- 8:35Speaker 1: I've got to believe that other people are as well
- 8:37Speaker 1: and that that matters to them. Speaking of liberal prosecutors,
- 8:42Speaker 1: we have a story from Philly where notorious Philly DA–
- 8:47Speaker 1: Larry Krasner has been a judge has concluded that Larry
- 8:52Speaker 1: Krasner should be sent to the DOJ for potential prosecution
- 8:56Speaker 1: for actual criminal misconduct in his zeal to wait for it.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Release convicted murderers from jail.
- 9:04Speaker 2: It's crazy. We've highlighted Krasner on here before. And it's
- 9:09Speaker 2: just a wild situation where the judge has to say
- 9:12Speaker 2: you are not enforcing the law. I don't know if
- 9:15Speaker 2: you follow him, but he's fantastic. The Solicitor General of Iowa,
- 9:19Speaker 2: he on Twitter, on X, his name is E. Wes 92.
- 9:25Speaker 2: He's so great.
- 9:26Speaker 3: He's all over cases like this.
- 9:28Speaker 2: For this one, for example, he writes, holy guacamole, Judge
- 9:32Speaker 2: Diamond disqualified Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner and a supervisor from
- 9:36Speaker 2: their attempt to free a murderer. Diamond accuses both of, quote,
- 9:40Speaker 2: possible criminal wrongdoing, end quote. He refers both to the
- 9:44Speaker 2: federal prosecutor's office. I mean, that does not seem like
- 9:48Speaker 2: somebody who should be in that position.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Nope. And apparently the evidence is quite clear in this,
- 9:55Speaker 1: you know, very long court document. The judge makes clear
- 10:00Speaker 1: it's very obvious from the email back and forth what
- 10:02Speaker 1: these guys were doing. He's rebuked him now for withholding evidence,
- 10:06Speaker 1: violating its duty of candor to the court when conceding
- 10:08Speaker 1: that a death row inmate was entitled to a new
- 10:10Speaker 1: trial and that these failings were not an isolated occurrence. Rather,
- 10:13Speaker 1: according to to justice, there have been numerous instances of
- 10:17Speaker 1: untrustworthy concessions, lack of candor, misrepresentations of fact, lack of
- 10:21Speaker 1: adequate investigation, and avoidance of hearings. In fact, what they
- 10:24Speaker 1: were doing was taking his lawyers, the convicted lawyers, at
- 10:30Speaker 1: face value and taking whatever argument they said, not investigating
- 10:34Speaker 1: and saying, sure, that tracks. In this case, it was
- 10:38Speaker 1: his lawyer and the Innocence Project working together. And it's
- 10:43Speaker 1: just wild that they wouldn't even look into this. Yeah.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Eric Weston, that same solicitor general of Iowa, highlights that
- 10:53Speaker 2: it was Dave Sunday, who is Pennsylvania's attorney general, who
- 10:58Speaker 2: brought up this case and took it to the judge
- 11:01Speaker 2: to say that this is unacceptable from the Philadelphia DA.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Again, all in an effort to release a convicted judge.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Murderer.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Right.
- 11:10Speaker 1: This is what they're doing this for.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:14Speaker 1: The passion for this subject is so crazy to me.
- 11:18Speaker 1: There are places where Republicans are using this type of
- 11:21Speaker 1: conduct against those who are running for office as Democrats.
- 11:25Speaker 1: So in Georgia, there's a race for governor between Rick Jackson,
- 11:30Speaker 1: the Republican, and Keisha Lance Bottoms, who was the mayor
- 11:33Speaker 1: of Atlanta during Woke One, during 2020 to 2021. And
- 11:41Speaker 1: she has a lot to answer for. And Rick Jackson
- 11:43Speaker 1: has been hammering her record on crack. Here is a
- 11:48Speaker 1: little sample from his ad in this race. Keisha Lance Bottoms.
- 11:53Speaker 2: She abused taxpayers. She is lining her own pockets trying
- 11:56Speaker 2: to help her friends. Her priorities were definitely were not safety.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Her priorities were herself.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Things were out of control.
- 12:05Speaker 2: There was no trust in leadership.
- 12:07Speaker 1: It wasn't just the weekend of the riots. It was
- 12:10Speaker 1: every day.
- 12:11Speaker 3: My house was.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Personally shot up. It seemed like every other week somebody's
- 12:14Speaker 1: car was broken into.
- 12:15Speaker 2: There was no accountability. She was responding as if it
- 12:19Speaker 2: was okay.
- 12:20Speaker 3: She was a complete disaster. Yeah, she was.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And that ad is powerful because it also has a
- 12:26Speaker 2: lot of Black people in it talking about what a
- 12:28Speaker 2: disaster she was. And that often goes overlooked, of course,
- 12:32Speaker 2: that a lot of these policies, they specifically end up
- 12:35Speaker 2: being very bad for the Black community.
- 12:37Speaker 3: In the earlier segment.
- 12:39Speaker 2: When we were talking about criminals being let out of jail,
- 12:43Speaker 2: you know, for not serving their home murder sentences, The
- 12:47Speaker 2: woman in the clip that we showed, she was a
- 12:49Speaker 2: black woman and talking about her black sister who was murdered.
- 12:52Speaker 2: So I hope that this works. I hope that people
- 12:56Speaker 2: wake up and see that you can't keep electing these people.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Jackson has been very energetic about this specific type of
- 13:03Speaker 1: messaging and just the the feed for his campaign is
- 13:07Speaker 1: just full of Georgia residents, Atlanta residents saying she let
- 13:12Speaker 1: things get out of control. I couldn't let my mother
- 13:14Speaker 1: go to the Chick-fil-A anymore because we were all afraid
- 13:16Speaker 1: of getting shot. I would note also and this is
- 13:20Speaker 1: this is a. Silver lining for Republicans in what's going
- 13:23Speaker 1: to be a rough year. They have so much money.
- 13:25Speaker 1: The the differential in the Georgia governor race right now
- 13:29Speaker 1: is 40.5 million in reservations for the Republican 42 K.
- 13:37Speaker 1: for Democrats and is similarly far apart. They're saying that
- 13:42Speaker 1: Ossoff is probably going to jump in on behalf of
- 13:44Speaker 1: Keisha Lance.
- 13:45Speaker 2: He's going to have to. Yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 1: But again, aligning himself with her record.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Right. If he wants to run for president and clearly
- 13:52Speaker 2: he does.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Not a great alliance for him, although he may have
- 13:57Speaker 1: to try to bail her out here. But kudos to
- 14:00Speaker 1: Jackson for doing the work of getting real people on
- 14:03Speaker 1: camera and identifying to how these policies hurt people.
- 14:07Speaker 3: We're going to take a.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Short break and be right back with more on Normally.
- 14:14Speaker 2: We are back on normally where the Macklemore, Ed Sheeran
- 14:18Speaker 2: fallout continues. If you're new to the story, which is
- 14:22Speaker 2: like impossible because it's been wall to wall everywhere. Ed
- 14:26Speaker 2: Sheeran had Macklemore who's like this. I swear I'm not
- 14:29Speaker 2: just saying this because I don't agree with this politics.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I have lots of people who I listen to their art,
- 14:34Speaker 2: listen to their music, look like their art and hate
- 14:37Speaker 2: their politics. He is so talentless. It's unbelievable to me
- 14:40Speaker 2: that he was chosen in the first place. It almost
- 14:42Speaker 2: feels to me like he was chosen because of his politics. Anyway, yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 2: he opens for Ed Sheeran and ends up going on
- 14:50Speaker 2: this free Palestine rant and showing images of the war
- 14:54Speaker 2: in Gaza on the screen behind him. And people get
- 14:58Speaker 2: understandably upset about it. Um, I would say it's interesting
- 15:03Speaker 2: to me how upset people got because I am so
- 15:06Speaker 2: used to this. I'm so used to this behavior.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Right.
- 15:09Speaker 3: And as a conservative, I'm so used.
- 15:11Speaker 2: To going to concerts and just cringing at what the
- 15:14Speaker 2: person on stage is saying like that. It's like the
- 15:17Speaker 2: least of it for me. Free Palestine and war images.
- 15:20Speaker 2: It's you know, I'm kind of shocked at how upset
- 15:23Speaker 2: people got. But people did get very upset and apparently
- 15:27Speaker 2: there were a lot of people there with their teen
- 15:28Speaker 2: kids and they didn't like the war imagery, even if
- 15:31Speaker 2: they didn't care about Israel at all. And so there's
- 15:35Speaker 2: been this massive outcry and the promoter dropped Macklemore from
- 15:39Speaker 2: the tour. In retaliation for this, Ed Sheeran's other opening
- 15:44Speaker 2: acts also said that they're quitting the tour because they
- 15:48Speaker 2: have to stand with Macklemore and that's it. It's interesting
- 15:53Speaker 2: because Ed Sheeran issued the statement saying, it really wasn't
- 15:56Speaker 2: me who invited him on the tour nor dropped him
- 15:58Speaker 2: from the tour, which, okay. And he's saying, I just
- 16:01Speaker 2: don't get involved in politics. And that, of course, is
- 16:04Speaker 2: unacceptable to the mob. They absolutely won't stand for it.
- 16:08Speaker 3: So that's where we are right now. Robert Kraft.
- 16:13Speaker 2: pressured the tour to drop him and said that he
- 16:16Speaker 2: couldn't perform at his Gillette Stadium. And he apparently spoke
- 16:21Speaker 2: with other NFL owners and asked them to do the
- 16:24Speaker 2: same thing. I have zero problem with this. For one thing,
- 16:29Speaker 2: Jewish and Israel supporting artists get dropped all the time.
- 16:34Speaker 1: All the time.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Constantly. I'm writing about this for the Wall Street Journal.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Maybe it'll be out by the time this airs.
- 16:40Speaker 2: How it happens constantly. And we're not just supposed to
- 16:43Speaker 2: accept it. It's like, it's not, it doesn't even make
- 16:45Speaker 2: a blip in the news. It's completely underreported. So there's
- 16:50Speaker 2: a million stories like this. I'm going to highlight, I mean, Matisyahu,
- 16:53Speaker 2: who's like this super hippie reggae artist who happens to
- 16:57Speaker 2: believe Israel should exist, which makes him a Zionist, which
- 17:00Speaker 2: is the majority of people. Um, got several of his
- 17:04Speaker 2: shows canceled in 2024. Melissa Rosenheck, a writer, she has
- 17:09Speaker 2: a book out called White Blonde Jew, had her launch
- 17:13Speaker 2: party in Nashville at a bookstore canceled. I mean, these
- 17:15Speaker 2: are just like a couple, a couple of examples. Jewish
- 17:18Speaker 2: artists were kicked out of the satellite art show Miami
- 17:20Speaker 2: Beach last year. I remember that. Very clearly, it was
- 17:23Speaker 2: during Art Basel. They couldn't find somewhere else to display
- 17:26Speaker 2: their art. And these people are not making political statements
- 17:29Speaker 2: at their shows. They just happen to exist and be
- 17:32Speaker 2: Jewish or Israeli or think that Israel is a real country,
- 17:36Speaker 2: which it is and should be. And they get canceled anyway.
- 17:40Speaker 2: And so if I'm supposed to feel sorry for Macklemore,
- 17:43Speaker 2: I absolutely do not. And I also let me just
- 17:45Speaker 2: let me finish my rant here. But I went back
- 17:48Speaker 2: and I looked at some of the stuff that I've
- 17:49Speaker 2: written about freedom of speech over the years.
- 17:52Speaker 3: They wanted this game.
- 17:53Speaker 2: This is something that the left pushed over and over again. Again,
- 17:57Speaker 2: as a conservative, I've seen conservative events get canceled. There
- 18:00Speaker 2: was one year that the NRA could not hold an
- 18:03Speaker 2: event in Brooklyn because the Brooklyn politicians and some New
- 18:07Speaker 2: York politicians for.
- 18:09Speaker 3: The whole city.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Were pressuring these businesses to cancel the event. I mean,
- 18:13Speaker 2: you want to talk about an infringement on somebody's freedom
- 18:16Speaker 2: of speech. Talk to me about how that went on
- 18:19Speaker 2: and the politicians bragged about not allowing the event to
- 18:24Speaker 2: go on. And then I also I highlight in that
- 18:26Speaker 2: same piece and I linked it on my ex a
- 18:28Speaker 2: few days ago. But, you know, these politicians went on
- 18:31Speaker 2: to higher office and nobody talks about the fact that
- 18:33Speaker 2: they tried to stop speech in their city. And for
- 18:37Speaker 2: one of them, it wasn't even the only event that
- 18:40Speaker 2: he talked about. It wasn't even the NRA wasn't the
- 18:42Speaker 2: only event that he stopped. He also had Seb Gorka
- 18:46Speaker 2: was speaking to a local Republican club. He also got
- 18:48Speaker 2: that shut down and he bragged about it. So all
- 18:52Speaker 2: these people have discovered freedom of speech.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Spare me.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Yeah, no, they definitely don't believe in it. There also
- 18:57Speaker 1: has to be space for maybe you're not right for
- 19:00Speaker 1: this gig.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Right. Like whether it's the promoters who have to deal
- 19:08Speaker 1: with corporate entities and owners of large stadiums or Sheeran himself,
- 19:13Speaker 1: who says he didn't make the call. Sometimes you're not.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Doing the thing.
- 19:19Speaker 3: That's right.
- 19:19Speaker 1: That people need you to do as part of your job.
- 19:22Speaker 1: And I do. Shut up and sing.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:25Speaker 1: In the old days, it's like, OK, well, what you
- 19:27Speaker 1: do is you just stop buying tickets to Ed Sheeran concerts.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Ed Sheeran wants you to come to his concerts. And
- 19:34Speaker 1: Macklemore is a and also ran who is merely opening.
- 19:39Speaker 1: So he wants you to come as opposed and as
- 19:41Speaker 1: do his promoters and the sort of obsession with Gaza
- 19:48Speaker 1: and the Palestinian cause and the Omnicom. and the left's
- 19:51Speaker 1: relentlessness does not allow that call to ever be made
- 19:55Speaker 1: about anyone on their side while they relentlessly do it
- 19:59Speaker 1: to everyone. Yeah.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I also I mentioned I'm going to mention this in
- 20:04Speaker 2: the Wall Street Journal column also. And Mark Hemingway tweeted this.
- 20:07Speaker 2: But You know, boycotts are like the whole thing that
- 20:11Speaker 2: these free Palestine people do. It's part of the shtick.
- 20:14Speaker 2: And yet somehow it's unacceptable when you do it to them.
- 20:18Speaker 2: And the cancellation is like part of their game.
- 20:21Speaker 3: And yet we're not supposed to play it at all.
- 20:23Speaker 2: I'll also add that like Macklemore is incredibly anti-American. He
- 20:28Speaker 2: says horrible things about America. Also, 9-11 conspiracy theorists like
- 20:33Speaker 2: this is not the guy for Ed Sheeran's I don't
- 20:36Speaker 2: want to say teeny bopper tour, but his fans are teens,
- 20:40Speaker 2: early 20s. They're not, you know, Reddit conspiracy theorists sitting
- 20:44Speaker 2: on their couch listening to Macklemore.
- 20:47Speaker 1: He also has appeared literally in a big nose, face
- 20:54Speaker 1: attempt on stage. Like, this is the guy you have
- 20:58Speaker 1: decided is your martyr.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Which is crazy to me. Relatedly, super citizen Mahmoud Khalil.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Why is he still here?
- 21:10Speaker 1: He has special, special rights, Carol. And he's going to
- 21:16Speaker 1: court to declare those special, special rights and have the
- 21:20Speaker 1: government set things straight because he is suing Columbia University
- 21:25Speaker 1: for what he alleges is mistreatment and unfair treatment of
- 21:32Speaker 1: his side of Of the Gaza-Israel cause, which is so
- 21:40Speaker 1: much reversing victim and offender, I can't even metabolize it.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Nonetheless, he argues, as many of these fair weather free
- 21:50Speaker 1: speech folks do, that he's allowed to use any and
- 21:55Speaker 1: all speech, including referring to his Yeah. Yeah. That student,
- 22:17Speaker 1: you see, because he has all the free speech and
- 22:20Speaker 1: anyone opposed to him gets none.
- 22:23Speaker 2: It's almost like he doesn't understand how America works.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Right. But does he actually? Because he might succeed. Right.
- 22:32Speaker 1: And what he's arguing is that Colombia has an affirmative
- 22:37Speaker 1: duty policy. that he can compel their speech to defend
- 22:42Speaker 1: him and whatever insane thing he says or does, by
- 22:45Speaker 1: the way, it crosses over into conduct because these people
- 22:49Speaker 1: deliberately misunderstand the line between speech and conduct. And that
- 22:53Speaker 1: Columbia is at fault for noticing that he did possibly
- 22:57Speaker 1: criminal things while an activist on campus, noticing that he
- 23:01Speaker 1: did things that violated policies while on campus and then
- 23:05Speaker 1: didn't correct the record hard enough when other people got
- 23:09Speaker 1: mad at him for doing those things.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I mean, you kind of have to laugh that it's
- 23:15Speaker 2: Columbia facing this.
- 23:16Speaker 3: But look, the reaping, you know, it sometimes comes before
- 23:20Speaker 3: the sowing.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Yeah. The amount of entitlement in this lawsuit, which you
- 23:25Speaker 1: can delve into, it's 60 pages long, is really something else.
- 23:31Speaker 1: And I would like to spend a lot less time
- 23:34Speaker 1: in our mechanisms- of state dealing with super citizen Mahmoud Khalil.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Absolutely. You highlighted Kyle Kuzma. I follow him, but I
- 23:44Speaker 2: have to tell you, I don't know who he is.
- 23:46Speaker 1: He is a forward for the Milwaukee Bucks. He is
- 23:49Speaker 1: an NBA star. And he started a kerfuffle, again, making
- 23:54Speaker 1: the Palestinian obsessives upset by saying, if you believe Palestinians
- 23:59Speaker 1: deserve freedom, say it clearly. Freedom from Hamas, too. Freedom
- 24:03Speaker 1: from Iranian-backed terror. Freedom from leaders who use civilians as shields.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Compassion cannot be selective. He, of course, has gotten a
- 24:12Speaker 1: ton of blowback for this. But he has responded smartly
- 24:16Speaker 1: to none other than Sean King, lefty activist, who says
- 24:20Speaker 1: he's spouting propaganda. And he responds, not close to propaganda,
- 24:24Speaker 1: my brother. It's the truth. Say and think what you want,
- 24:28Speaker 1: but if you think it was okay for them to
- 24:30Speaker 1: come into Israel and kill and rape women and babies,
- 24:32Speaker 1: then for Hamas to then hide behind the people they
- 24:35Speaker 1: govern as shields, then for terror groups to F the
- 24:38Speaker 1: entire Middle East up for decades but blame and think
- 24:40Speaker 1: Israel is the continuous bad guy in this, although I
- 24:42Speaker 1: don't believe in Bibi and his motives, parentheses, you should
- 24:45Speaker 1: take a step back and look at the whole forest, bro.
- 24:48Speaker 1: These radicals scream death to America. No, sir, I can't
- 24:52Speaker 1: rock with that. Yep. Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 3: And that's the thing.
- 24:54Speaker 2: The people who often despise Israel like that they scream
- 24:59Speaker 2: death to America. It's not a bug. It is a feature.
- 25:03Speaker 2: So one last point on this. The New York Times
- 25:07Speaker 2: today had this line in a piece. Israelis still largely
- 25:11Speaker 2: view themselves as the victims of October 7th. Yeah, they
- 25:15Speaker 2: were the victims.
- 25:16Speaker 1: They were. That's why.
- 25:17Speaker 2: A central thing to remember as we talk about the
- 25:20Speaker 2: Palestinian cause and all of it is that On October 7th,
- 25:24Speaker 2: Palestinian terrorists invaded Israel, murdered over 1,200 people, took 250
- 25:30Speaker 2: people hostage, including babies and grandmothers, murdered those babies, by
- 25:35Speaker 2: the way. And so when you scream free Palestine, understand
- 25:40Speaker 2: what you're trying to free them from. And it is
- 25:43Speaker 2: absolutely the terrorists who govern them. specifically.
- 25:47Speaker 1: You know, I think Columbia University had a duty to
- 25:49Speaker 1: protect the reputation of these terrorists. And why haven't they
- 25:52Speaker 1: done that? I hope they get sued again. Oh, yeah.
- 25:56Speaker 4: All right.
- 25:57Speaker 2: We're going to take a short break and be right
- 25:58Speaker 2: back with more on Normally.
- 26:04Speaker 1: We are back on Normally with a little bit of
- 26:07Speaker 1: an advice segment on how to be in a relationship
- 26:10Speaker 1: with Carol and MK. So this stems from an ex-discourse.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I know it's dangerous to get into those. But it
- 26:18Speaker 1: started with this kind of funny tweet where John Finkel says,
- 26:22Speaker 1: being married is funny because you'll be chilling, having a
- 26:24Speaker 1: bowl of cereal, and your wife will say, I hate
- 26:26Speaker 1: these bowls, don't you? And you'll shrug because you don't care.
- 26:29Speaker 1: And she'll say, I do. They've bothered me for a
- 26:31Speaker 1: while now. We need new bowls. And you'll shrug again
- 26:34Speaker 1: because you have honestly not once ever considered the bowls
- 26:36Speaker 1: at all. Then a few days later, there will be
- 26:38Speaker 1: all new bowls in the kitchen. And you'll be eating
- 26:40Speaker 1: the same cereal in a different bowl, chilling. And she'll say,
- 26:43Speaker 1: I love these new bowls. And you'll shrug again because
- 26:45Speaker 1: you still don't care. But she's happier. And the cereal
- 26:47Speaker 1: is still good. And you didn't do anything at all. Yep.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Yep.
- 26:51Speaker 3: And what did you lose?
- 26:52Speaker 2: 30 bucks on that exchange? How much were the bowls
- 26:54Speaker 2: she bought?
- 26:55Speaker 3: Like, your wife is happy.
- 26:57Speaker 2: You're continuing to eat the cereal. Your life rules. Yes.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Yes. I would say for men, this is an important
- 27:05Speaker 1: thing to understand. A lot of the feminine experience is
- 27:08Speaker 1: improved a surprising amount by putting things in prettier containers.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Totally.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Oh, my God. It makes everything so much better.
- 27:17Speaker 1: It's so much better.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I'm super tinkering with our house right now, and my
- 27:21Speaker 2: husband is experiencing... bull guy energy all the time yeah
- 27:27Speaker 2: this light i don't like this light no you don't
- 27:29Speaker 2: you hate this light okay that's it we're gonna change this.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I understand sometimes they don't get it and that's okay
- 27:35Speaker 1: you don't have to get it you can just be
- 27:36Speaker 1: like okay like i'm on board right right some said
- 27:40Speaker 1: that the man should not shrug and another man said
- 27:44Speaker 1: um from christianity on the spectrum which is an interesting
- 27:46Speaker 1: handle for this guy because he seems to have figured
- 27:48Speaker 1: out a lot about interacting with his wife Marriage pro tip.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Agree with her about the bowls, even if you don't care.
- 27:54Speaker 1: And then tell her what a good job she did
- 27:56Speaker 1: with the bowls. And that you really get what she
- 27:59Speaker 1: was talking about with the old bowls. Literally free wins
- 28:02Speaker 1: y'all are leaving on the table.
- 28:04Speaker 2: So it's so funny because as I'm reading that, I'm like, yeah,
- 28:06Speaker 2: but my husband really means it when he said, wait
- 28:09Speaker 2: a minute.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Wait a minute.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Is he just humoring.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Me that was like not that much better after I
- 28:15Speaker 3: fixed it?
- 28:16Speaker 1: Yeah, my husband will say, because he doesn't do the,
- 28:20Speaker 1: this is the reverse ask of the haircut lady, right?
- 28:23Speaker 1: Which is like, how much do you effusively praise someone
- 28:27Speaker 1: for something you don't care about or don't, or not
- 28:30Speaker 1: engaged with? And courtesy is to be like, okay, cool.
- 28:33Speaker 1: My husband will often be like, I appreciate that you
- 28:37Speaker 1: worked on that and that it makes you happy.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Yep, yep.
- 28:43Speaker 1: But I will say some of the comments got really
- 28:46Speaker 1: insane because one of these sort of manosphere takes is
- 28:50Speaker 1: that to be nice to your wife is basically unacceptable.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Right. Mm hmm.
- 28:55Speaker 1: And the Christianity on the Spectrum guy says, you aren't
- 28:58Speaker 1: too cool for your wife. Like, just engage with her.
- 29:02Speaker 1: And then one of my favorite comments was, why not
- 29:05Speaker 1: just tell the truth? The new bulls suck.
- 29:08Speaker 2: You know it. I know it.
- 29:09Speaker 1: We all know it. They don't fit in the dishwasher.
- 29:10Speaker 1: They don't have the character of the old ones. And
- 29:12Speaker 1: they're a waste of money. So in this case, you're
- 29:15Speaker 1: either a liar or a wimp.
- 29:17Speaker 3: And that guy's single for sure.
- 29:22Speaker 1: That I have never heard a woman be that passionate
- 29:23Speaker 1: about bulls. What are you so upset about, dude? Like,
- 29:28Speaker 1: I don't think it's the bulls. You're much more upset
- 29:30Speaker 1: about the bulls than she is. Yeah. Yeah.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:34Speaker 2: That guy is for sure single and nobody cares about
- 29:37Speaker 2: bowls that much. Even the wife in this example did
- 29:40Speaker 2: not care about the original bowls quite as much as
- 29:42Speaker 2: he does. So.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Yeah. So that's, that's our tip. Be nice about the bowls. Yeah.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Be nice to your spouse.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Like, how about that?
- 29:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:52Speaker 1: In other news, I just want to note that the cut,
- 29:54Speaker 1: which is always running viral, mean to each other in relationships,
- 29:58Speaker 1: peace is Runs My Husband Has No Friends by Monica
- 30:02Speaker 1: Corcoran Harrell. For some wise, first comes love, then comes marriage,
- 30:06Speaker 1: then comes managing their spouse's social life? I don't know. Right.
- 30:14Speaker 3: I mean, true.
- 30:16Speaker 2: I don't know. I definitely manage our social life. I
- 30:19Speaker 2: make all the plans. Um, I, yeah, I run them
- 30:22Speaker 2: by him. Sure. Like, Hey, we're going out with this
- 30:25Speaker 2: couple or whatever, but you know, I make the plans.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I put it on the calendar. I tag him. Yeah.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I do all that.
- 30:31Speaker 3: So what I'm sure there are, and I know there
- 30:33Speaker 3: are actually, I.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Know men who are more, more social than their wives
- 30:36Speaker 2: and they do all the planning and socializing and and
- 30:40Speaker 2: putting it together their calendar. So men for sure do it.
- 30:44Speaker 2: And you know, the guy in the last bowl example
- 30:46Speaker 2: is all mad about that too. Very mad.
- 30:50Speaker 1: But I feel like isn't, hasn't this mostly been the
- 30:53Speaker 1: dynamic always all of time. Yeah. And, uh, my husband
- 30:57Speaker 1: is much, I'm much more social than my husband is.
- 31:01Speaker 1: We talk to each other. about our relative comfort levels
- 31:05Speaker 1: with how often we'd like to be doing things. And
- 31:08Speaker 1: sometimes I'll say, NBD, I'll go on my own. And
- 31:12Speaker 1: other times I'll say, I'd really like you to come.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Yep. There it is.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Right.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Relationships. How do they work? We'll keep talking about it
- 31:22Speaker 2: on here.
- 31:23Speaker 1: We'll keep advising. Be nice to each other. Yeah.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Thanks for joining us on Normally. Normally airs Tuesdays
