- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Powered by Seahawks.com. Now, here's your host, Nassau Chobie. Welcome
- 0:11Speaker 2: to another edition of Hawk Talk.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We are back. The undefeated Seahawks, 1-0. Fresh off their
- 0:16Speaker 1: victory beating the New England Patriots in the season opener.
- 0:19Speaker 1: They're back at it again, this time hitting the road
- 0:21Speaker 1: to the desert, taking on the Arizona Cardinals bump.
- 0:24Speaker 2: But before we get going, Bob, I got some cool
- 0:26Speaker 2: stats for you guys right here. Yeah, let's get it.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Currently, the Seahawks are on 11-game win streak, including the playoffs,
- 0:31Speaker 1: tying the longest win streak in franchise history. So there's
- 0:34Speaker 1: some history that could be made this weekend. Need one
- 0:37Speaker 1: win for its ninth consecutive regular season win, tying the
- 0:40Speaker 1: second longest streak in franchise history, going back to 2012-2013.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Seahawks are 24-5 in their last 29, including the playoffs,
- 0:48Speaker 1: with four of those losses by six points or less.
- 0:51Speaker 1: They've held eight of the last 11 opponents to under
- 0:53Speaker 1: 20 points, including the postseason losses.
- 0:57Speaker 2: But right now things are rolling.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Pretty good franchise you got here, man. Mike McDonald stepping
- 1:01Speaker 3: in and changing the game. So let's keep the good
- 1:04Speaker 3: times rolling.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Right into it. Let's get right to it. What's on tap?
- 1:08Speaker 2: What's on tap? These Cardinals, they are 1-0.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Tied for first technically in the NFC West. They beat
- 1:15Speaker 1: the Chargers 26-14 in probably the most shocking game of
- 1:19Speaker 1: week one. Cardinals went down to SoFi, beat the Chargers
- 1:22Speaker 1: handily 26-14. Rookie head coach Mike LaFleur. Became the first
- 1:26Speaker 1: Cardinals coach to win his debut since Don Correale in 1973.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Before he was born, 12 coaches since then have not
- 1:33Speaker 1: been able to do that. So that just shows you
- 1:35Speaker 1: kind of how many people have been at the helm
- 1:37Speaker 1: in Arizona. Chargers, they're a big-time favorite coming in. Obviously,
- 1:40Speaker 1: we know the names they have. They trailed the entire game.
- 1:43Speaker 1: But the Cardinals look pretty good, Bomb.
- 1:45Speaker 2: It's one game.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't want to get over and ahead of
- 1:48Speaker 1: myself in either direction, right? Because the Cardinals did start
- 1:50Speaker 1: last year 2-0. Proceeded to lose 15 of the next
- 1:53Speaker 1: 16 games.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Not good. But right now, it's one game.
- 1:58Speaker 1: What did you see out of those guys?
- 2:00Speaker 2: They look good, man.
- 2:01Speaker 3: They got things going on their opening drive. They go
- 2:02Speaker 3: 70 yards and 11 plays. And with the first NFL
- 2:06Speaker 3: touchdown for rookie running back Jeremiah Love.
- 2:09Speaker 2: He looked good.
- 2:10Speaker 3: He only got like 11 carries, I think. But I
- 2:12Speaker 3: think they're easing him into it. The Chargers answer with
- 2:15Speaker 3: a solid drive of their own ending with an eight-yard
- 2:17Speaker 3: touchdown by Omarion Hamden. I like him out of North Carolina.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I believe North Carolina, yeah. Which tied the score up
- 2:23Speaker 3: at seven. The Cardinals will score the next nine points,
- 2:26Speaker 3: settling for three field goals while the Chargers fumbled, turned
- 2:29Speaker 3: the ball over on downs, and punted.
- 2:30Speaker 2: That made the score 16-7. Cardinals feeling good.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that's the best start you can hope
- 2:37Speaker 1: for on the road, especially with a team like that.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Justin Herbert, we know all the things that he can
- 2:40Speaker 1: do there. Cardinals will score the next nine points. Like
- 2:42Speaker 1: you said, Chargers will get back in the game after
- 2:44Speaker 1: Justin Herbert found Ladd McConkie, another dog, for an eight-yard touchdown,
- 2:48Speaker 1: making the score 16-14. But, Bump, this is where the
- 2:50Speaker 1: game swung. When you do stuff on special teams... Things
- 2:53Speaker 1: happen good for you, brother. The Cardinals, Jacoby Bursette, he
- 2:58Speaker 1: finds Trey McBride for a three-yard touchdown. That made the
- 3:01Speaker 1: score 23-14. Herbert then would throw an interception on the
- 3:04Speaker 1: next drive. Cardinals put the game on ice with a
- 3:06Speaker 1: field goal late. Sealing the deal 26-14. Bursette, pretty good, 27-37, 277,
- 3:08Speaker 1: one touchdown, zero interceptions. QB rating of 103.1.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Brissette looked good. He looked decisive. He looked confident.
- 3:18Speaker 2: He looked like he'd been in the league for a while.
- 3:20Speaker 3: And the rookie, Jeremiah, he finished with 41 yards and
- 3:23Speaker 3: 11 carries and one touchdown. Trey McBride continues just to
- 3:27Speaker 3: do his thing. Nine receptions, 95 yards and one touchdown.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Justin Herbert, the most talented and maybe overrated quarterback at
- 3:34Speaker 3: the same time. You see the talent, but just can't
- 3:37Speaker 3: put it together for a whole season. He was 17-27, 2-0-9,
- 3:40Speaker 3: one touchdown and one interception. Chargers got some work to do.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Cardinals looking good.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that block punt set up the McBride touchdown.
- 3:49Speaker 1: We're going to dive into the Chargers, obviously, in a
- 3:50Speaker 1: couple weeks as they travel to Seattle. So that'll be
- 3:53Speaker 1: interesting because, yeah, Justin Herbert, you look at the numbers,
- 3:55Speaker 1: one of the best out there, but then it just doesn't,
- 3:58Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 3:58Speaker 2: It's interesting.
- 3:59Speaker 1: So we'll obviously get into him in a couple weeks.
- 4:01Speaker 1: We'll jump into the head-to-head. We'll kind of breeze through this.
- 4:03Speaker 2: It's one week, right?
- 4:05Speaker 1: You don't have a lot of data. Right now, if
- 4:07Speaker 1: you looked at it, the Seahawks don't look like a
- 4:08Speaker 1: very good offense. They're tied for 20th in total offense,
- 4:11Speaker 1: 21st in rush offense, 17th in pass offense. Tied for
- 4:14Speaker 1: 25th in points per game at 13. Defensively, 11th in
- 4:18Speaker 1: total defense, 16 in rush, 8th in the pass, 2nd
- 4:21Speaker 1: in points allowed.
- 4:22Speaker 2: It's one game.
- 4:22Speaker 1: It's hard to really take a lot from it, especially
- 4:24Speaker 1: the score is what it is.
- 4:26Speaker 3: And if you look at the Cardinals, that's a great
- 4:28Speaker 3: offense after week one.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 4:30Speaker 3: 8th when it comes to total offense, 16th when it
- 4:33Speaker 3: comes to running the box, 6th passing, and 16th when
- 4:35Speaker 3: it comes to points per game. And if you look
- 4:37Speaker 3: at that one game, those stats, Cardinals got a better
- 4:40Speaker 3: defense on paper, apparently. Yep. ninth overall, seventh against the run,
- 4:44Speaker 3: 15th against the pass, and ninth when it comes to
- 4:46Speaker 3: points allowed. We got to read these stats because that's
- 4:49Speaker 3: what we do. They really don't mean much until like
- 4:51Speaker 3: week four, three or four.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to develop patterns. It's really hard.
- 4:54Speaker 1: You hear Coach McDonald, everyone talking about it. It's hard
- 4:57Speaker 1: to develop tendencies. It's hard to develop anything of who
- 4:59Speaker 1: you are. Like those stats don't say that you lose
- 5:02Speaker 1: your starting quarterback after five plays.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Right. Those stats don't say you ran.
- 5:05Speaker 1: 48 plays as an offense and you were, I believe,
- 5:09Speaker 1: two of 11 on third down. So, you know, Stats
- 5:11Speaker 1: are what they are through one week. That's how the
- 5:13Speaker 1: guys stack up head-to-head. But these teams, obviously, being in
- 5:16Speaker 1: the same division, have played a lot. Let's know the history.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Know your history.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Seahawks leading the all-time series 31-22 and won that tie
- 5:25Speaker 1: in 2016, but have been dominant in recent years. They've
- 5:28Speaker 1: won nine in a row and 10 of their last 11.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Last loss came in 2021. Russell Wilson was coming off
- 5:34Speaker 1: his broken finger. And it's been a domination bump, especially
- 5:38Speaker 1: last time these two teams played. Seahawks were... up 35-0
- 5:42Speaker 1: before the Cardinals scored a point. You had that crazy game.
- 5:44Speaker 1: DeMarcus Lawrence scores two touchdowns. Thank you, Tyrese Knight. Two
- 5:47Speaker 1: strip sacks in there. Sam Darnold was 10 of 12, 178,
- 5:51Speaker 1: one touchdown interception. Charbonnet had 83 yards and a touchdown. JSN,
- 5:56Speaker 1: 93 yards, five receptions, touchdown. Like I said, T. Knight,
- 6:00Speaker 1: eight tackles, two sacks, three TFLs, two quarterback hits. The
- 6:03Speaker 1: best game he has played as a pro for a show.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Trey McBride is only a really good day for the
- 6:07Speaker 1: Cardinals last time. Nine receptions, 127 touchdowns. Yards, one touchdown.
- 6:12Speaker 1: He's going to be the key to stopping this thing.
- 6:14Speaker 1: We're going to dive into all the matchups that we
- 6:16Speaker 1: want to see in this game. But before that, let's
- 6:18Speaker 1: check on the NFC West.
- 6:19Speaker 2: What's the word?
- 6:20Speaker 5: Where my soldiers at? Westside!
- 6:22Speaker 2: Where my soldiers at?
- 6:23Speaker 5: Westside!
- 6:24Speaker 2: And the Seahawks are the NFC West champs again. What's
- 6:28Speaker 2: the word in the West on Hawk Talk? Everybody won
- 6:32Speaker 2: but the Rams. The Rams lost to the Niners.
- 6:34Speaker 3: So you got the Hawks 1-0, Niners 1-0, Cardinals 1-0,
- 6:38Speaker 3: and the Rams 0-1.
- 6:40Speaker 2: And let's go to Australia for a little bit. All right.
- 6:42Speaker 3: There's a huge showdown in the NFC West last week
- 6:45Speaker 3: between everyone's Super Bowl favorite, the Los Angeles Rams, taking
- 6:48Speaker 3: on the Niners in Melbourne.
- 6:50Speaker 2: It's not Melbourne. It's Melbourne. It depends on who you
- 6:53Speaker 2: talk to. All right. They were getting after the announcers
- 6:55Speaker 2: for calling it Melbourne, Melbourne. You know what? I'll go Melbourne, Australia.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I don't know if that's right, but yeah, we'll take it. Whatever.
- 7:00Speaker 2: We'll take it.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Hey, no disrespect to the Aussies out there.
- 7:02Speaker 5: All right.
- 7:03Speaker 2: My bad.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Hey, so much was made about the Rams' decision to
- 7:06Speaker 3: fly up the day before the game and play right
- 7:08Speaker 3: away instead of going up early and and getting acclimated
- 7:11Speaker 3: to the massive time difference.
- 7:12Speaker 2: They tried to outsmart the room. It felt like it
- 7:15Speaker 2: didn't work.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Not sure what role that actually played, but the Rams
- 7:18Speaker 3: fell flat, getting smacked by the Niners 27-7. Head coach
- 7:21Speaker 3: Sean McVay said, I know there's going to be a
- 7:24Speaker 3: lot of narrators that appropriately put the blame on me,
- 7:28Speaker 3: and then we'll move forward the right way. McVay said,
- 7:30Speaker 3: I don't believe... Travel plans. It's why we didn't play well.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I really don't. On the field, the Rams' high-powered offense
- 7:38Speaker 3: was not existing, scoring one touchdown all afternoon. This is
- 7:41Speaker 3: their drive chart, Naz. Punt, punt, touchdown, interception, punt, end
- 7:46Speaker 3: of half, downs, fumble, downs, end of the game. Didn't
- 7:50Speaker 3: look good for the former MVP either.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Not at all. I mean, I think part of this
- 7:54Speaker 2: is unfair, right?
- 7:55Speaker 1: Everyone from the minute they got Myles Garrett, Aaron Donald
- 7:59Speaker 1: coming back, Matthew Stafford, Pook, all this stuff, everyone crowned
- 8:02Speaker 1: them before the season had started. Now, do I think
- 8:03Speaker 1: they're still going to be a really good football team?
- 8:05Speaker 1: Of course they're going to be. Did this travel play
- 8:07Speaker 1: a role?
- 8:07Speaker 2: I think, of course, it did.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I think it would be hard to say it didn't.
- 8:10Speaker 3: We just traveled to Germany a couple years ago. We
- 8:13Speaker 3: felt the travel.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:14Speaker 2: We felt it.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And you know what? We had to land and go
- 8:16Speaker 1: to work, too. We felt that. No, but that being said,
- 8:20Speaker 1: it didn't work, and they didn't look good. Stafford 15-25, 155,
- 8:24Speaker 1: no touchdowns, interception, QB rating of 61.2. I promise you
- 8:28Speaker 1: that'll probably be his worst stat line of the entire season.
- 8:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Kyron Williams only had 41 yards. Nikul was held in check, 5-74.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Miles Garrett, who set the sack record the year before
- 8:37Speaker 1: all that, made sure on paper they're the best thing
- 8:40Speaker 1: of all time. Never been better. Well, he registered no tackles,
- 8:45Speaker 1: no sacks, no QB hits. Now there might have been
- 8:48Speaker 1: a reason for it. Obviously, he's got a bum knee.
- 8:50Speaker 1: He goes to IR dealing with that injury. We'll see
- 8:51Speaker 1: what happens. Just a bad day. And obviously, I think
- 8:57Speaker 1: I don't want to go too far down this road
- 8:59Speaker 1: and bask in the glory of the Rams losing. But
- 9:01Speaker 1: I think it's just a reminder to everybody, and I
- 9:03Speaker 1: already said it, the Rams are going to be a
- 9:04Speaker 1: good football team, but you can't crown people in September.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Nah.
- 9:07Speaker 1: It's the NFL. They're playing against a lot of dudes
- 9:10Speaker 1: that are probably going to have some gold jackets for
- 9:12Speaker 1: the Niners, too.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Yeah. You know what I'm saying?
- 9:13Speaker 1: So you just cannot assume anything. Can't take anything for granted.
- 9:17Speaker 1: For the Niners, Brock Purdy went 25-34, 2-0-5, three tutties.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Demarcus Robinson, Michael Evans, Deebo Samuel each had a touchdown.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Fred Warner, probably the best pound-for-pound linebacker in the league.
- 9:29Speaker 1: 11 tackles, one pass defended, forced fumble. Nick Bosa's back.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So the Niners are going to be a threat, obviously.
- 9:36Speaker 2: They're back. They're fully healthy.
- 9:37Speaker 1: It'll be really interesting to see what happens when the
- 9:39Speaker 1: Seahawks play them in October. But, Bob, this NFC West
- 9:42Speaker 1: is still the best division in the NFL, and every
- 9:46Speaker 1: week is going to be dogfight.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 9:48Speaker 3: You even got the Cardinals just trying to make noise
- 9:49Speaker 3: week one. Say, don't forget about us. We'll see if
- 9:52Speaker 3: they can last or not. Obviously, we play them this weekend. But, yeah,
- 9:55Speaker 3: the NFC West, NFC North. I think the two best
- 9:58Speaker 3: divisions of football right now.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Yep get your popcorn ready each and every week let's
- 10:02Speaker 1: get back in those arizona cardinals man.
- 10:04Speaker 5: Up hey who you got who you got you know
- 10:07Speaker 5: what time it is man up man up brother man
- 10:09Speaker 5: up man up on hawk talk where do we start
- 10:13Speaker 5: always with the quarterbacks jacoby brissett bump taking on the
- 10:17Speaker 5: seahawks defense Pretty much this whole offseason, we were worried
- 10:20Speaker 5: about a contract.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Yep.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Right?
- 10:21Speaker 2: So he finally got that.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Going, but he didn't participate in any 11-on-11 offseason stuff.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Inked a deal worth $ 15. 5 million with a chance for
- 10:29Speaker 1: incentives that can net an additional $ 21 million. Huge boost
- 10:32Speaker 1: from the $ 4. 9 he was scheduled to make.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Hey, way to get your money, Jacoby. I ain't mad
- 10:36Speaker 2: at that.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Well, and speaking of incentives bumps, SportTrack reported that Brissette
- 10:40Speaker 1: earned $ 285, 000 bonus for the win and will do so
- 10:43Speaker 1: in every Cardinals win up to 10, in which he
- 10:46Speaker 1: plays at least 50% of the snaps.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Already making more money.
- 10:49Speaker 1: So, obviously, if you're a quarterback, I'm hoping you're playing 50%
- 10:52Speaker 1: of the snaps. I mean, that's a nice little payday.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Instant gratification.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Good for you, man.
- 10:57Speaker 1: On the field, though, he's at up and down 11-year career.
- 11:00Speaker 1: He's been around the league. Dolphins, Patriots, Colts, Commanders, Browns,
- 11:04Speaker 1: Patriots again. Enders his second season with the Cardinals. Really
- 11:08Speaker 1: been a starter for about four of those years in
- 11:09Speaker 1: the NFL. Last season, though, career year. Career highs and
- 11:13Speaker 1: completion percentage, completions, attempts, touchdowns.
- 11:15Speaker 2: You name it.
- 11:15Speaker 1: 315, 485, 64% completion percentage, 3,366 yards, 23 touchdowns, 8 interceptions,
- 11:24Speaker 1: 38 carries, 168 in one touchdown. Now, he only made
- 11:28Speaker 1: one start against Seahawks last year. He went 22 of 44, 258,
- 11:31Speaker 1: two touchdowns, was sacked five times, fumbled twice, both being
- 11:35Speaker 1: returned for touchdowns. And he also got a lot of
- 11:38Speaker 1: garbage time numbers to end that game. And last week
- 11:40Speaker 1: against the Chargers, like we said earlier, 27, 37, 277,
- 11:42Speaker 1: one touchdowns, QB rating 103.1. Didn't light the world on fire,
- 11:49Speaker 1: but is a guy that's competent, can lead a team. Bump,
- 11:52Speaker 1: you said earlier on the huddle, I think you had
- 11:53Speaker 1: a good stat for Jacoby Brissett.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Yeah, since week six of 2025, every game he's had
- 11:59Speaker 3: at least 200 yards and at least one touchdown. The
- 12:03Speaker 3: jacked up part about that is they've only won two
- 12:05Speaker 3: games in that span. So he's doing his thing, but
- 12:08Speaker 3: he needs a little bit of help over there, a
- 12:10Speaker 3: little bit of help.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Good quarterback.
- 12:11Speaker 3: If Jacoby Brissett was a backup, he'd probably be the
- 12:14Speaker 3: second or third best backup in the league right now
- 12:17Speaker 3: behind Drew Locke. Let's talk about Drew Locke. Drew Locke,
- 12:20Speaker 3: I'm against his cardinal defense. We know Drew Locke. We
- 12:22Speaker 3: love Drew Locke. Man, he is considered in most circles
- 12:25Speaker 3: the best backup in the game. But let's remind you
- 12:27Speaker 3: about his journey. He's played a good amount of ball
- 12:30Speaker 3: for seven years, second-round pick in 2019, started 28 games
- 12:33Speaker 3: in the NFL, including much, His first two years at Denver.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Remember those clips of him rapping on the sideline? We
- 12:39Speaker 2: love it.
- 12:40Speaker 3: He made his way to Seattle in the Russell Wilson
- 12:43Speaker 3: trade back in 2022. Competed for Geno with Geno for
- 12:46Speaker 3: a starting job that eventually went to Smith. Locke had
- 12:49Speaker 3: COVID before he was scheduled to start the second preseason
- 12:52Speaker 3: game of the year.
- 12:53Speaker 2: And after that, Smith had run away with the job.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Locke was a backup during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
- 12:58Speaker 3: He started two games in 23, including a thrilling comeback
- 13:01Speaker 3: against the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Can't forget that.
- 13:04Speaker 3: It was like a 92 yard fourth quarter drive to
- 13:06Speaker 3: Jason to win that thing. Um, then he left for
- 13:08Speaker 3: the giants in 2024, started five games over there, a
- 13:10Speaker 3: little bit of up and down, had a couple of
- 13:13Speaker 3: games where he looked good. And then, um, I came
- 13:15Speaker 3: back only the fifth player in the NFL history to
- 13:17Speaker 3: have 300 or more passing yards, four or more touchdowns,
- 13:21Speaker 3: one or more rushing TDs and a passer rating of
- 13:23Speaker 3: better than one 55 in the same game.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Joining Aaron Rogers, Drew Reese, Josh Allen, and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
- 13:29Speaker 2: That was one of those games with the giants. Thank you.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Um, He's got some good ball. You know what I'm saying?
- 13:35Speaker 3: He showed that last week. So I'm excited to see
- 13:37Speaker 3: what Drew can do this week. Last week, 16 of 22, 187,
- 13:40Speaker 3: one touchdown, no interceptions, a QB rating of 113.3.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Can he back it up?
- 13:49Speaker 1: I think, Drew, the fact that he's going to get
- 13:51Speaker 1: all the reps in practice, and I look at it, too.
- 13:54Speaker 1: You play on a Wednesday night. You don't play for
- 13:56Speaker 1: like 11 days or whatever it is. While the players
- 13:58Speaker 1: had Friday, Saturday, Sunday off in the building, I promise
- 14:01Speaker 1: you Drew Locke did.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Not take that weekend off.
- 14:03Speaker 1: So now you get extra days with the head coach,
- 14:06Speaker 1: extra days with your offensive coordinator. I think the operation
- 14:08Speaker 1: is going to be cleaned up a bunch. I don't
- 14:10Speaker 1: think people understand how hard it is to be thrown
- 14:12Speaker 1: into that position. And if you have, it's hard in
- 14:15Speaker 1: high school. It's hard at any level. But at this level,
- 14:17Speaker 1: to be thrown in without getting any physical reps and
- 14:20Speaker 1: you're playing a game in the National Football League on
- 14:22Speaker 1: That's hard to do.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 14:23Speaker 2: It's hard.
- 14:24Speaker 1: And he stepped up. I think he's going to look
- 14:25Speaker 1: really good. We know what he's capable of, I think,
- 14:28Speaker 1: between him and Fleury in this offense. They're going to
- 14:30Speaker 1: call things that he wants to run, that he's good
- 14:32Speaker 1: at running, that he can operate. I feel like it's
- 14:34Speaker 1: going to be a pretty good day for Drew Locke,
- 14:37Speaker 1: but we'll see on Sunday. Flipping back over to the Cardinals,
- 14:40Speaker 1: let's look at the running back room. Jeremiah Love, Tyler
- 14:43Speaker 1: Algier against the Seahawks front seven. Something's got to give here.
- 14:46Speaker 1: You got some good running backs, a good rush defense.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Jeremiah Love, the hype. He's the third pick in the draft.
- 14:52Speaker 1: He did a ton of stuff at Notre Dame. Unanimous
- 14:54Speaker 1: first-team All-American, became the first player in Notre Dame's storied
- 14:57Speaker 1: program to be named Doak Walker Award winner as the
- 15:00Speaker 1: nation's top running back. Ton of stats. I mean, I
- 15:03Speaker 1: could go on and on and on. 42 total touchdowns,
- 15:07Speaker 1: 2,497 yards, 35 touchdowns in his last two years. He
- 15:11Speaker 1: did all the thing, went on all the lists. Obviously,
- 15:14Speaker 1: we know him pretty well because he split a backfield
- 15:16Speaker 1: with our guy, Jadarian Price. We're going to talk about
- 15:18Speaker 1: Price in here in a second. But Love made his
- 15:21Speaker 1: highly anticipated debut on Sunday. And, you know, coming off
- 15:24Speaker 1: an injury because he hadn't practiced for about a month
- 15:26Speaker 1: in there. But anyway, 11 carries. On those 11 carries,
- 15:30Speaker 1: he forced six missed tackles. So he had a little wiggle.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Him and Algier.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Algier got a little bit more of the carries there.
- 15:37Speaker 1: But Love showed a little bit there. There's a little bird.
- 15:40Speaker 1: We know why he got drafted that high. So it'll
- 15:42Speaker 1: be interesting to see that matchup, how those two kind
- 15:45Speaker 1: of split carries, because Algier, he's been an established product
- 15:48Speaker 1: in this league, and he's been put in a tough
- 15:50Speaker 1: situation both times.
- 15:52Speaker 2: He's in Atlanta. He has 1,000 yards as a rookie.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Who did they draft? Bijan Robbins.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Bijan does his thing, and he still had production when
- 16:01Speaker 1: he was out there. He had at least 500 yards
- 16:03Speaker 1: with three touchdowns the last couple years, and now he
- 16:05Speaker 1: comes to Arizona, and they draft Jeremiah Love. It is
- 16:08Speaker 1: what it is, but he's a good player. He's a
- 16:10Speaker 1: good running back, both of them, between them, can do
- 16:12Speaker 1: some really good things. So it'll be interesting to see,
- 16:14Speaker 1: because as we know, this Seahawks defense has been shutting
- 16:18Speaker 1: down the run, have not allowed a hundred yard rusher
- 16:20Speaker 1: for a franchise record, 27 consecutive games. That's the longest
- 16:25Speaker 1: current streak in the national football league. Something's got to give,
- 16:27Speaker 1: and I'm going to tip my cap to the Seahawks
- 16:29Speaker 1: because it's hard not to the way they've been playing defensively.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that's, that's impressive. 27 consecutive games, man, more than
- 16:36Speaker 3: a season and a half. So that's good for these guys. And,
- 16:40Speaker 3: Let's switch over to our running backs. We got Price, Helani,
- 16:43Speaker 3: and Wilson against this Cardinal defense. Uh, they didn't run
- 16:46Speaker 3: for a ton of yards against the pass, but the
- 16:47Speaker 3: potential is there. You can see it was on full display.
- 16:50Speaker 3: You got Price who rushed for 52 on 10 carries.
- 16:52Speaker 3: He had a couple explosive runs, especially that first one, right?
- 16:55Speaker 2: 13 yards.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I'm feeling it. Uh, I expect to see Price to
- 16:58Speaker 3: get a few more touches this week. In week one,
- 17:00Speaker 3: Price was on the field for 24 plays. That's 48%
- 17:03Speaker 3: of the snaps. You got George Helani, who I like,
- 17:05Speaker 3: I like the mix-up with George in there. Man, different
- 17:07Speaker 3: type of runner. Um, Against the Patriots, he had 29
- 17:10Speaker 3: on eight carries. He was on the field for 23 snaps.
- 17:13Speaker 3: That's 46%. See the trend? One-two combo. We're going to
- 17:16Speaker 3: give Helani some love, too. And Emmanuel Wilson, who I
- 17:19Speaker 3: think is going to be like that short yardage type
- 17:20Speaker 3: of guy. He had three yards on two carries. Wilson
- 17:24Speaker 3: was only on the field for three snaps. But I
- 17:26Speaker 3: think his is more situational. Short yardage type of situation.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Get him there.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Last week, the Cardinals held the Chargers to 81 rushing
- 17:33Speaker 3: yards on 21 carries.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Let's see how these three running backs do this week
- 17:38Speaker 2: against that defense.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I think if you only run 48 plays, it's hard
- 17:42Speaker 1: to get as much as we thought Price would get.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Because we saw that burst initially. We're like, okay, they're
- 17:46Speaker 1: going to run the rock. For me, I'm hoping he
- 17:48Speaker 1: gets at least 15 carries. I would love him to
- 17:50Speaker 1: touch the ball 20 times. Because in my opinion, if
- 17:53Speaker 1: he touches the ball 20 times, 12 targets for JSN,
- 17:55Speaker 1: we're probably dominating time of possession if that happens. So
- 17:59Speaker 1: we will see about that. Flipping it back over to
- 18:01Speaker 1: the deadly weapons the Cardinals have. Probably the best player
- 18:04Speaker 1: on their team. Correct me if you think I'm wrong here.
- 18:06Speaker 2: You're right. Trey McBride. Kendrick Bourne's another weapon, and Marvin Harrison.
- 18:11Speaker 1: McBride really, the last couple years, has shown he's a dog.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Earned first-team AP All-Pro honors in 2025, becoming the first
- 18:18Speaker 1: tight end in franchise history for the Cardinals to do that.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Named to a second consecutive Pro Bowl. First four seasons,
- 18:24Speaker 1: appeared in 66 games, 347 receptions, 3,475 yards, 17 touchdowns.
- 18:26Speaker 2: He's doing his thing.
- 18:26Speaker 1: His 347 receptions, most in NFL history by a tight
- 18:28Speaker 1: end in the first four seasons. And last year, his
- 18:38Speaker 1: 126 receptions established a new NFL single-season record for a
- 18:43Speaker 1: tight end. So he's doing his thing. Clearly, he's a
- 18:46Speaker 1: focal point in their offense. He's Jacoby Brissett or whoever's
- 18:49Speaker 1: playing quarterback, safety blanket there. He's someone that you're definitely
- 18:54Speaker 1: going to look to shut down. We don't know about
- 18:57Speaker 1: the status of Nicky Minori. He's back to the practice field.
- 19:00Speaker 1: But these are the kind of matchups when he's healthy
- 19:02Speaker 1: that I would look for him to be a part of.
- 19:05Speaker 1: The Trey McBrides, the— The, you know, why am I
- 19:08Speaker 1: blanking on the 49ers?
- 19:10Speaker 2: George Kittle. Thank you.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Lost it for a minute. But week by week, you're
- 19:14Speaker 1: focused on Brad. But players like that, you'd hope Eamon
- 19:17Speaker 1: Worry is a big factor in that. And then, Bump,
- 19:19Speaker 1: I'll say this last thing about these weapons offensively. Kendrick Bourne,
- 19:24Speaker 1: Eastern Washington alum, played with Cooper Cup. And I was
- 19:27Speaker 1: thinking about this as I was writing the notes today.
- 19:29Speaker 1: And I just want to take a moment. for any
- 19:33Speaker 1: defensive backs who played in the Big Sky Conference.
- 19:36Speaker 2: From 2013 to 2016. Yeah, that was tough.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I think you endured some trauma. I think no one's
- 19:42Speaker 1: really talked about that a lot, so I'm here to
- 19:44Speaker 1: help you guys out.
- 19:45Speaker 4: No one's brought it up enough, no cooper coven we're
- 19:48Speaker 4: doing some nasty things with those dudes good to see
- 19:50Speaker 4: those guys still having really long careers coming out of
- 19:53Speaker 4: eastern washington so big ups there born's been kind of
- 19:55Speaker 4: all over the league but he's had a nice little
- 19:57Speaker 4: career last year 37 receptions 551 yards and then their
- 20:01Speaker 4: last big threat marvin.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Harrison huge expectations through the roof you're coming from the
- 20:05Speaker 1: wide receiver you like people like to say ohio state
- 20:08Speaker 1: Your name is Marvin Harrison, your dad, Hall of Famer.
- 20:11Speaker 2: We know all that.
- 20:12Speaker 1: One reception, 33 yards bump in week one. Last year,
- 20:16Speaker 1: kind of a little bit step back, some injuries, 41 receptions,
- 20:18Speaker 1: 608 yards, four touchdowns.
- 20:20Speaker 2: There's a lot of turmoil. Kyler to Jacoby, all that stuff. Yeah.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I don't know, but on paper, this should be a
- 20:26Speaker 1: really good unit, whether it's tight end, wide receivers. We
- 20:29Speaker 1: know what Trey McBride can do. We know what Bourne's
- 20:31Speaker 1: been able to do. The verdict is still out on
- 20:34Speaker 1: who Marvin Harrison is going to become.
- 20:36Speaker 2: We know how good he is. Was that going to
- 20:39Speaker 2: show on the field? Time will tell. Didn't he have
- 20:41Speaker 2: a game with three or four touchdowns last year? Yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 2: he's had a game.
- 20:43Speaker 1: He he had the first matchup against Seattle. He had
- 20:47Speaker 1: a bunch of like he had a couple of bad drops.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I think one ended up being an interception for Ernest Jones.
- 20:52Speaker 1: He ended up getting a touchdown in that game. I
- 20:54Speaker 1: think he beat Spoon on a play.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Spoon was a little dinged up at the time, too.
- 20:57Speaker 2: But we've seen it. The the the. The potential is there.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Just are we going to see that take place?
- 21:02Speaker 3: Put it all together. Put it all together. I believe
- 21:04Speaker 3: in you, brother. Just don't put it together this weekend.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Not this week or November 8th.
- 21:08Speaker 2: There we go.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Next up, we got our receiving core, JSN. Cooper Cupp,
- 21:12Speaker 3: Rasheed Shaheed. JSN picked up right where he left off.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Why wouldn't he?
- 21:16Speaker 3: Eight receptions and 122 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets.
- 21:21Speaker 3: A long of 44. Nice throw by Drew Locke on that, too, man.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Getting pressure. JSN turns, catches the rock. The rest is him.
- 21:28Speaker 3: He passed Joey Galloway for ninth on Seattle's all-time receptions
- 21:31Speaker 3: list with 290. Passed Korn Robinson for 10th. He continues
- 21:35Speaker 3: to show why he's the best in the game. He
- 21:38Speaker 3: just gets open. He finds ways to run by people.
- 21:41Speaker 3: It's unorthodox, but I love the way he does it.
- 21:43Speaker 3: He needs 81 yards to pass Steve Largent for fourth
- 21:45Speaker 3: most receiving yards in a player's first four seasons in
- 21:48Speaker 3: franchise history.
- 21:50Speaker 2: That'll be 3,754.
- 21:51Speaker 3: And 136 to pass Joe Jackson for third most in
- 21:55Speaker 3: two games versus the Cardinals.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Jason.
- 21:58Speaker 3: The last season was balling, nine receptions, 172, one-yard touchdown.
- 22:02Speaker 3: JSN just doing JSN things no matter who.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Is under center.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, he is– the record books at this
- 22:11Speaker 1: pace are going to be completely rewritten. We saw DK
- 22:14Speaker 1: Metcalf start to do a lot of that his first
- 22:16Speaker 1: couple years here. JSN, I mean, nothing is showing that
- 22:19Speaker 1: he's going to slow down, especially after week one, so
- 22:22Speaker 1: I expect big things there. The one thing I'm interested in, Bump,
- 22:24Speaker 1: is are we going to see more from Cup and
- 22:27Speaker 1: Rasheed in the stat sheet. I know they're contributing. They're
- 22:30Speaker 1: obviously doing stuff. They're a part of this equation. Do
- 22:33Speaker 1: you think that changes it all this week?
- 22:34Speaker 2: I think it could.
- 22:35Speaker 3: You got to find a way to get Deuce Deuce
- 22:36Speaker 3: to rock. I think if there's anybody who's content with
- 22:39Speaker 3: just being a blue collar, work hard for this type
- 22:42Speaker 3: of guy, it's Cooper Cup. But Shahid does something that
- 22:46Speaker 3: very few can do in this league, which is run
- 22:48Speaker 3: by anybody. And when you have that type of speed,
- 22:50Speaker 3: you got to get him going. So, yeah, I think
- 22:53Speaker 3: they do. And the more attention that Jason is going
- 22:55Speaker 3: to get, the more opportunities for everyone else. Why not
- 22:58Speaker 3: the guy you decide to keep in Rashid Shaheen?
- 23:01Speaker 2: Absolutely. Hey, we'll see.
- 23:02Speaker 1: And one other big ups guy in their secondary, another
- 23:05Speaker 1: local tie, Buda Baker.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Buda.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Still making plays in the back end. Pro bowler for
- 23:09Speaker 1: the eighth time in 2025. He's been in the league
- 23:11Speaker 1: for 10 seasons.
- 23:12Speaker 2: That's nuts.
- 23:13Speaker 1: This is year 10. He's had 100-plus tackles in six
- 23:15Speaker 1: of his 10 seasons. Last year, 120 tackles, five pass defended,
- 23:19Speaker 1: one interception, half a sack for TFL.
- 23:21Speaker 2: So he's still a problem there in the back end
- 23:23Speaker 2: for these Cardinals. Big ups to Buda. Good dude.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Now.
- 23:28Speaker 2: It's the end of the show. We're going to tell
- 23:29Speaker 2: you how the Seahawks are going to get this done.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Path to victory. At the 45, waits for the snap.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Michael Dixon puts it down. That kick is away. And
- 23:38Speaker 2: that kick is good! The Seahawks win!
- 23:42Speaker 1: It's good!
- 23:42Speaker 5: It's a path to victory on Hawk Talk.
- 23:46Speaker 1: A little shout-out to Jason Myers, by the way. I
- 23:47Speaker 1: just heard him kicking a field goal. Way to come
- 23:49Speaker 1: out and do your thing week one.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah, for real. Just do what you're supposed to do.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Got rid of the yips.
- 23:53Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Like, it was, you know,
- 23:55Speaker 1: I'd expect nothing less from him, but just a little...
- 23:57Speaker 1: A little shout-out to Jason Myers. I know some people
- 23:58Speaker 1: were a little concerned. I'm not concerned with you, dog.
- 24:00Speaker 1: We know what you've been able to do. But anyway,
- 24:02Speaker 1: I hope you're not a big factor on Sunday for
- 24:05Speaker 1: the Seahawks. It's a division opponent bump. A lot of
- 24:08Speaker 1: hype heading into week one. Super Bowl rematch, dropping a banner,
- 24:12Speaker 1: only game on TV, all these things going on. Now
- 24:16Speaker 1: in week two, it's not going to be the same
- 24:18Speaker 1: type of hype.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Yeah. Make sure there's not a letdown. No letdown.
- 24:21Speaker 1: And I know there's not going to be one. From
- 24:23Speaker 1: the veterans in this locker room, the coach that– The
- 24:26Speaker 1: Seahawks have. I don't think there's any chances of letdown,
- 24:28Speaker 1: especially given what the Cardinals did in week one.
- 24:30Speaker 2: But just make sure there isn't. That should be an
- 24:32Speaker 2: issue at all.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I expect them to come out and improve on what
- 24:34Speaker 1: they did in week one.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Yeah, man, it starts with QB, Drew Locke.
- 24:37Speaker 3: He was able to get the reps in practice all week,
- 24:40Speaker 3: so I expect the operations to be cleaner.
- 24:42Speaker 2: He doesn't need to do anything special. You have a
- 24:44Speaker 2: team around you.
- 24:45Speaker 3: This isn't like you're playing for the Bills and Josh
- 24:47Speaker 3: Allen has to throw for two touchdowns and rush for
- 24:49Speaker 3: two touchdowns, right? You have a team around you. Just
- 24:51Speaker 3: take care of the football. Get it to your receivers.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Let them be the talent, and you will be okay.
- 24:56Speaker 3: and eliminate mental mistakes. No pre-snap penalties that drove me
- 24:59Speaker 3: crazy last game.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that makes me want any offensive coach,
- 25:02Speaker 2: play caller.
- 25:03Speaker 1: I mean, when you're thinking about it and you're behind
- 25:05Speaker 1: the sticks all the time, you're just trying to get
- 25:06Speaker 1: stuff in. I think it's going to be way smoother.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Like you said, get rid of those pre-snap penalties and
- 25:10Speaker 1: run the football. I want to see Jadarian Price. Jadarian Price.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Jadarian Price. Jadarian Price. Jadarian Price. Jadarian Price. I want
- 25:18Speaker 1: to see him ball out. I want to see him
- 25:19Speaker 1: 15 carries. I want to see him 15 to 20.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I think we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg
- 25:25Speaker 1: with him. We've talked to him. He has a quiet
- 25:27Speaker 1: confidence about him. You look at him and how he
- 25:29Speaker 1: runs the football. I'm excited to see what he can do.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Hopefully we get to see that on Sunday.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 25:34Speaker 3: And then defensively, Haraj, Jacoby Brissett, make his life a living.
- 25:38Speaker 2: You know what?
- 25:39Speaker 3: Because he's shown he can play decent ball, man. And
- 25:42Speaker 3: just keep taking the football away. Three interceptions in week one.
- 25:46Speaker 3: And that's with some twos out there as well getting burned.
- 25:50Speaker 3: So this roster is truly 70 deep.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 25:54Speaker 5: I hope.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Rodney Thomas is out there again. I expect him to
- 25:57Speaker 1: make plays. Nehemiah Pritchett, best game as a pro. I
- 25:59Speaker 1: expect him to make plays.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Josh Jobe.
- 26:01Speaker 1: He's an established corner in this league now. I'm expecting
- 26:03Speaker 1: a lot from the secondary. I'm going to try to
- 26:05Speaker 1: see a good game in the desert with the Seahawks
- 26:07Speaker 1: taking on these Cardinals.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Thanks for watching, listening. Reminder, you can hear us anywhere.
- 26:11Speaker 1: YouTube, Seahawks.com, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Sirius XM. The
- 26:16Speaker 1: pregame show is live this Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
- 26:19Speaker 1: You'll hear Michael Bumpus, Ray Roberts, Paul Moyer, Brian Walters
- 26:22Speaker 1: getting you ready for kickoff this Sunday between the Seahawks
- 26:25Speaker 1: and the Arizona Cardinals.
- 26:26Speaker 2: He's Michael Bumpus.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I'm Nassif Chobi. This has been Hawk Talk.
