2:14
Speaker 3: done in the past with the Turkey Drop and the
2:16
Speaker 3: Sock Drop, it is a drive through will our crews
2:19
Speaker 3: will be out there seven am tomorrow morning till six pm.
2:22
Speaker 3: Don't even have to get out of your car, although
2:24
Speaker 3: attempts in the mid sixties. Tomorrow, unlike when we did
2:27
Speaker 3: the Sock Drop, you may want to get out of
2:29
Speaker 3: your car. It was kind of funny. We were working
2:31
Speaker 3: out the scheduling for all of us yesterday and one
2:34
Speaker 3: of the people in the building said, at the Sock Drop,
2:36
Speaker 3: we had a hard time getting people wanting to go
2:38
Speaker 3: out there.
2:39
Speaker 5: With this thing.
2:39
Speaker 3: Tomorrow, we're going to have a hard time getting people
2:41
Speaker 3: wanting to come.
2:42
Speaker 1: In the building.
2:43
Speaker 3: Everybody's going to want to be out there tomorrow, but
2:45
Speaker 3: again it's all in our parking lot tomorrow eleven eleven
2:48
Speaker 3: Virginia Street East and Charleston seven am until six pm.
2:50
Speaker 3: We'll talk to Jason Quintrail and Steve Animal about that
2:53
Speaker 3: coming up a little bit later on Also, I want
2:55
Speaker 3: to spend a little bit of time talking about certificate
2:57
Speaker 3: of need. This is been a hot button topic so
3:02
Speaker 3: far in the early days of the legislature. Well, last
3:04
Speaker 3: night a big bomb was dropped on this thing because
3:07
Speaker 3: it failed in committee in the House. It's not dead yet,
3:11
Speaker 3: though it could still possibly pop up in the Senate.
3:14
Speaker 3: David Goldberg is with Vandelia Health and also Mond Health.
3:18
Speaker 3: He's going to join us to talk about that a
3:19
Speaker 3: little bit later on. But your calls and text are

3:31
Speaker 3: real estate. Our good friend Rich the realtor is with
3:35
Speaker 3: us of Meeks Realty. Good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
3:38
Speaker 3: It's good to see you.
3:39
Speaker 1: It's been a little bit.
3:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, you have been on the show in a while.
3:41
Speaker 1: That's all right, though, I mean I need more Dave
3:43
Speaker 1: thou than though not let no said no one ever.
3:47
Speaker 3: I can tell you that right now. So I got
3:50
Speaker 3: several things I want to talk to you about. And
3:52
Speaker 3: if you have a question about real estate rich as
3:54
Speaker 3: a guy. You can call us up again the Biggley

4:04
Speaker 3: zero weight. But before we get started the things I
4:07
Speaker 3: wanted to talk about, you wanted to talk about a
4:08
Speaker 3: specific listing you have in Poka.
4:11
Speaker 5: Do yes?
4:11
Speaker 1: So, I just have a listing in Pok three twenty
4:14
Speaker 1: two Laurel Avenue in Pok. It's and that very desirable
4:17
Speaker 1: Poka neighborhood, the Poka subdivision. Actually it's on a flat
4:21
Speaker 1: half an acre of property, all fenced in a completely
4:25
Speaker 1: restored home done by hometown builders here, locally high quality work.
4:30
Speaker 1: Everything in this thing is new. It has the primary
4:33
Speaker 1: bedroom suite as giant. It has two other bedrooms on
4:39
Speaker 1: the main floor, has a has a giant loft upstairs
4:42
Speaker 1: that has its own heating and cooling opportunity up there,
4:45
Speaker 1: has its full bathroom. It's just a masterpiece, low over
4:49
Speaker 1: three thousand square feet. It's back on the market, just dude.
4:52
Speaker 1: On some unforeseen circumstances, something suddenly came up, As they
4:56
Speaker 1: said on the Brady Bus, So we'd like to get
4:58
Speaker 1: that back, get somebody in there. It's definitely worth your
5:01
Speaker 1: time to go and see it. So trust me to
5:02
Speaker 1: go look at this home. It's listed at three ninety
5:05
Speaker 1: ninety nine and we've already been through inspections, we've been
5:08
Speaker 1: through the appraisal. Everything's pretty buttoned up on this. We
5:11
Speaker 1: could get it to a fast close if the if
5:14
Speaker 1: the loan type or the purchase is ready to go.
5:18
Speaker 3: So where can people take a look at that? Is
5:20
Speaker 3: it's still on the website? Because I know you said
5:21
Speaker 3: this it was like, you know, under contract or something
5:23
Speaker 3: and that it didn't happen. So is it's still Yeah,
5:25
Speaker 3: so it goes back on.
5:26
Speaker 1: You can find that any of your local sites that
5:28
Speaker 1: you like to go to, and certainly any of your
5:31
Speaker 1: real real estate agents can find it for you only
5:33
Speaker 1: MLS and get it to you. And certainly I can
5:35
Speaker 1: as well. Oh yeah, you can do that.
5:38
Speaker 3: So it has, as you said, been a while since
5:40
Speaker 3: you've been on with this. How's the market over on
5:42
Speaker 3: the valley right now?
5:43
Speaker 1: You know it's it's it's pretty slow, but it's still moving.
5:47
Speaker 1: People will always buy and sell homes. The inventory has
5:50
Speaker 1: just dropped and dropped, and you know, people are hesitant
5:53
Speaker 1: to sell, and we get it. It's also that time
5:55
Speaker 1: of the years, you know, real estate has evan flows,
5:57
Speaker 1: so you know this the winter is a little tough.
6:00
Speaker 1: But we're coming into the spring selling season, so it's
6:03
Speaker 1: about to pick up some. But I looked yesterday. They're
6:06
Speaker 1: total of our board, our Connall Valleyboard of Real Tours
6:10
Speaker 1: covers eleven counties and in those eleven counties there were
6:13
Speaker 1: a total of five hundred and thirty five active listings,
6:17
Speaker 1: but probably fifty of those are above five hundred thousand
6:21
Speaker 1: dollars and one hundred and twenty of those are less
6:24
Speaker 1: than one hundred thousand. So the primary price point for
6:28
Speaker 1: that is pretty small. So we you know, we need
6:31
Speaker 1: more listings. The buyers a little hesitant right now, just
6:34
Speaker 1: kind of waiting for the spring to settle in and
6:36
Speaker 1: that kind of thing there. We want the winner that
6:38
Speaker 1: would not end to come in. Yeah, we're back to
6:41
Speaker 1: what I feel like used to be how I grew
6:43
Speaker 1: up here in West Virginia. These winners, this is how
6:45
Speaker 1: we used to grow up. But it haven't been like
6:46
Speaker 1: this in a while, back in the day. But yeah,
6:50
Speaker 1: so the market's tight. There's not a lot happening, but
6:53
Speaker 1: it is about to happen.
6:54
Speaker 3: So, you know, Rich I had and again we're talking
6:57
Speaker 3: with rich the realtor client of Mee's realty. I had
7:00
Speaker 3: Cheryl Ellison a couple of weeks ago, maybe a month
7:02
Speaker 3: or so ago, talking about this housing survey that Advantage
7:05
Speaker 3: Valley had done. And one of the things that they
7:07
Speaker 3: found in this survey was that there was a need
7:12
Speaker 3: for more homes, more single family homes.
7:15
Speaker 1: And of about fifteen hundred I believe, yeah.
7:18
Speaker 3: I mean, and that and a lot of that has
7:20
Speaker 3: to do with people coming in a lot of times,
7:22
Speaker 3: and you know this, I mean, it's not there's a
7:25
Speaker 3: variety of factors. You know, maybe some folks get a
7:27
Speaker 3: little bit older, getting a little bit up in years,
7:30
Speaker 3: and they think, well, I've got this big two story
7:32
Speaker 3: thing with this big old yard to take care of.
7:34
Speaker 3: I can't not as easy for me to do that.
7:36
Speaker 3: I want a smaller place. There is a need for
7:38
Speaker 3: more homes.
7:38
Speaker 1: Oh for sure. And you know part of the you know,
7:41
Speaker 1: part of the story has been, you know, when rates
7:44
Speaker 1: dropped so low and so many people were financed, and
7:46
Speaker 1: I don't have this stat exactly right that at some
7:49
Speaker 1: point I think prior to twenty twenty two, I think
7:52
Speaker 1: some like seventy percent of all loans were sub three
7:56
Speaker 1: percent or sub four percent. Rather, so if you have
7:59
Speaker 1: somebody those homes are you know, even if they're twenty
8:01
Speaker 1: your mortgages, they don't they're not really interested in trading out,
8:06
Speaker 1: you know, to a six point eight five, Like that's
8:07
Speaker 1: the current rate right now with good credit. Talk to
8:10
Speaker 1: our good friend Eric Smith at Gateway Mortgage yesterday six
8:12
Speaker 1: point eighty five. It is the is what he is
8:15
Speaker 1: quoting six point seventy five on government loans. But who
8:19
Speaker 1: wants to trade from a three and a half or
8:21
Speaker 1: three percent loan into a six five even if you're downsizing,
8:25
Speaker 1: you know, it's significant more money.
8:27
Speaker 3: So talking to Rich the realchir cline, and it's clined
8:30
Speaker 3: with a K, as I say every day to Dave
8:32
Speaker 3: Allix Show on five eighty line presented in part by
8:34
Speaker 3: Husband's Pizza. This month, get a large eten inch Pepperoni
8:37
Speaker 3: pizza and a Pepperoni col zone twenty one ninety nine
8:39
Speaker 3: eat end pick up or get delivery. Find your closest
8:42
Speaker 3: husbands a husbands Pizza dot com and I mentioned earlier
8:44
Speaker 3: about the weather, and I know spring is coming. We
8:46
Speaker 3: change the time I think in like a couple of
8:48
Speaker 3: weeks or something like that. Do you typically during the
8:51
Speaker 3: spring season see more people that want to want to
8:56
Speaker 3: look at a different place to live, they want to
8:58
Speaker 3: sell their home. How does it change with the change
9:01
Speaker 3: of the season.
9:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. Well I think sometimes the people who
9:05
Speaker 1: are inevitably going to move over the summer, they need
9:07
Speaker 1: to get wrapped up into the spring, or they have
9:10
Speaker 1: to start thinking about the spring, getting things wrapped up
9:12
Speaker 1: so they can move into the summer if they're changing
9:14
Speaker 1: school districts and changing jobs or whatever that is. So
9:16
Speaker 1: the spring selling season is, and it typically starts about
9:19
Speaker 1: the middle or the end of February and it starts
9:21
Speaker 1: ramping up in March. So and I would just you know,
9:24
Speaker 1: encourage people that if you're going to do that, that
9:26
Speaker 1: there are some ways to make your house more desirable.
9:29
Speaker 1: And first impressions are everything. We all know that, so
9:32
Speaker 1: it are some of those things right well, you know,
9:35
Speaker 1: particularly now after we've had a rough winter, I would
9:38
Speaker 1: get into your landscaping as quickly as I could. You
9:40
Speaker 1: can't make the flowers bloom, but you can get rid
9:42
Speaker 1: of all the sticks and the and the dirt, and
9:44
Speaker 1: clean your windows and your shutters and you know, get
9:47
Speaker 1: all of the just get your bushes as ready to
9:51
Speaker 1: go for spring as possible, power washer sidewalks, get all
9:54
Speaker 1: that junk off there, because it really it is an
9:57
Speaker 1: impactful first impression when someone pulls up to your house.
10:00
Speaker 1: And we know that most buyers are driving by your
10:03
Speaker 1: home before they even contact you know, a realtor an
10:05
Speaker 1: agent or any of that kind of stuff. They're staking
10:08
Speaker 1: they are I can look at and I've joked about
10:10
Speaker 1: this with you before.
10:11
Speaker 3: I can tell you that living in Tays Valley, somebody
10:13
Speaker 3: takes down their curtains to wash them or take down
10:17
Speaker 3: their blinds, and immediately somebody's knocking on the door saying,
10:19
Speaker 3: are you selling your home?
10:20
Speaker 1: That's right now, we're just cleaning the curtains man, right,
10:23
Speaker 1: But in this case for sellers, if you're going to
10:25
Speaker 1: do it, you really should clean your curtains. And maybe not,
10:29
Speaker 1: but you want to have somebody come in and give
10:32
Speaker 1: you some you know, professional advice of what you need
10:34
Speaker 1: to do and not do. You know, some some things
10:36
Speaker 1: aren't necessary. People. You have to go in and you know,
10:39
Speaker 1: paint everything and remodel the bathroom. And that's not necessarily
10:43
Speaker 1: the case, particularly in this market, but a fresh look
10:46
Speaker 1: is always important. And you know, declutter the home, get
10:49
Speaker 1: rid of all of the ex if you got extra furniture,
10:51
Speaker 1: you know, sitting in rooms that are just making it
10:53
Speaker 1: look smaller. You know, that's a mistake for a buyer
10:56
Speaker 1: comes in. They want to be able to visualize as
10:58
Speaker 1: much as their stuff in there as possible. So just
11:01
Speaker 1: declutter and clean the heck out of it. It's you
11:03
Speaker 1: know the winter, you know. Yeah, my mom used to
11:06
Speaker 1: say spring clean all the time. We got a spring clean. Well,
11:08
Speaker 1: that's you know, you got to spring clean the house
11:10
Speaker 1: for the spring selling season.
11:11
Speaker 3: Give me before we close. Rich you know, in the
11:14
Speaker 3: era of the of the interwebs. Now people use them
11:17
Speaker 3: for everything. They use it for.
11:19
Speaker 1: If they're going to buy a car, they go online.
11:21
Speaker 3: And my brother in law's in the car business and
11:23
Speaker 3: frequently he says, you know, when people show up on
11:25
Speaker 3: the on the on the lot that they say, I
11:28
Speaker 3: want a twenty twenty four Chevy Silverado, and this is
11:31
Speaker 3: what I want to you have a silver one, this
11:33
Speaker 3: is the one I want. You know, it's it's totally changed.
11:36
Speaker 3: I know, I know it's done that in real estate too,
11:38
Speaker 3: but people use a variety of different ways to to
11:42
Speaker 3: find homes or or find apartments or whatever the case
11:45
Speaker 3: may be. Down that's it's all well and good. You
11:47
Speaker 3: got to adapt with the times a little bit. But
11:49
Speaker 3: there is something to be said though, for having a
11:52
Speaker 3: real live human like you. You are a real life human, byeway,
11:56
Speaker 3: the last time I checked, you are not a typically
11:58
Speaker 3: I've got to have my second cup of coffine it,
12:00
Speaker 3: but talk about that, talk about it. Yeah, so you know,
12:02
Speaker 3: this typically happens for certainly, there's a lot of information
12:05
Speaker 3: for buyers. They can do a ton of research and
12:07
Speaker 3: not just find out about the house that's there, but
12:09
Speaker 3: they can find out a ton just through you know,
12:12
Speaker 3: what's involved in the community, and what's the crime rate
12:14
Speaker 3: look like, what do the schools look like? And realtors
12:16
Speaker 3: don't we shouldn't provide that kind of information, but we
12:19
Speaker 3: should provide resources for those buyers to look into that.
12:21
Speaker 3: And the internet, you know, is very wide open for
12:24
Speaker 3: that kind of thing. But from a seller's point of view,
12:27
Speaker 3: what I think happens. You know, there's a site out
12:30
Speaker 3: there which will rhyme it with Willow that they believe
12:34
Speaker 3: that that is the end all, and that's simply an
12:36
Speaker 3: algorithm that until a human, a real life professional walks
12:40
Speaker 3: into your house and evaluates the condition and helps establish
12:44
Speaker 3: the price, you know, the recommended list price connected with
12:47
Speaker 3: your condition, then that Willow site may not be your
12:52
Speaker 3: end all.
12:52
Speaker 1: So don't be surprised if you have an idea of
12:54
Speaker 1: a price in mind and then your real estate professional
12:57
Speaker 1: comes in and has a different point of view. I mean,
13:00
Speaker 1: that's I love that the information is out there, but
13:03
Speaker 1: it isn't everything. You've got to have somebody's eyes on it.
13:07
Speaker 1: If you're looking to buy, you're looking to sell.

16:48

16:50

17:00
Speaker 3: Of course it's ritzy. It's the home of the dots man. Man,
17:03
Speaker 3: what are you talking about? Let's I want to I
17:06
Speaker 3: want to get into this story. There's Undale. You've heard
17:09
Speaker 3: a lot of the news, especially this legislative session, about
17:11
Speaker 3: certificate of need. There are some that want it done
17:14
Speaker 3: away with and others say it was a good thing
17:16
Speaker 3: and needs to stay. Some developments happened with that last night,
17:20
Speaker 3: so I got to kind of update my notes here
17:21
Speaker 3: a little bit. I want to bring in David Goldberg,
17:23
Speaker 3: who's the president and CEO of Mind Health Systems and
17:26
Speaker 3: the executive vice president of Vandellia Health. Good morning, sir,
17:28
Speaker 3: welcome to the show.
17:30
Speaker 6: Good morning, Thanks for having me today, Thank you for
17:32
Speaker 6: being here.
17:33
Speaker 3: So there were some developments that happened last night in
17:36
Speaker 3: the legislature. In the House, certificate of need died last night.
17:40
Speaker 3: I know TJ and Dave were going to have more
17:42
Speaker 3: on that coming up on talk line. There is still
17:43
Speaker 3: possibility that it is in the Senate, that it may
17:48
Speaker 3: it may pop back up again in the Senate. But
17:50
Speaker 3: for those who may not know, David explain first what
17:54
Speaker 3: exactly certificate.
17:55
Speaker 12: Of need is.
17:57
Speaker 6: So I'm also the vice chairman of the Virginia Hospital Association,
18:01
Speaker 6: so that's kind of the role I'm serving this morning.
18:03
Speaker 3: Got you gots.
18:04
Speaker 6: But certificate certificate of Need is a public policy approach
18:07
Speaker 6: to healthcare planning for health resources to be developed and
18:11
Speaker 6: distributed across the state. We're one of nearly thirty five
18:15
Speaker 6: to thirty eight states in the country who have this program,
18:18
Speaker 6: and we have a healthcare Authority down in Charleston that
18:21
Speaker 6: reviews applications that hospitals and healthcare providers that are eligible
18:26
Speaker 6: for certificated need consideration. Filed to the state and then
18:31
Speaker 6: look at the healthcare plan to make sure it's vital,
18:33
Speaker 6: appropriate and means public health kind of approaches to make
18:38
Speaker 6: sure we have good healthcare in place to serve our residents.
18:42
Speaker 3: So, as I said, there have been those and this
18:44
Speaker 3: has kind of popped up a couple of times. I
18:46
Speaker 3: think in the sessions over the last couple of years.
18:48
Speaker 3: There are those that wanted to do a way with
18:50
Speaker 3: the certificate of need, and there are obviously those.
18:53
Speaker 1: Who do not.
18:54
Speaker 3: In your role, why do you see that it is
18:57
Speaker 3: important to keep the certificate of need?
19:01
Speaker 6: So first I want to share with you and the listeners.
19:03
Speaker 6: I have worked in states with certificate the need and
19:06
Speaker 6: without certificated needs, so I think I have a different perspective.
19:10
Speaker 6: One of the things in West Virginia that makes it
19:12
Speaker 6: different than other places I've worked before is that about
19:15
Speaker 6: seventy five percent or so of the state receives healthcare
19:18
Speaker 6: coverage for Medicare. Medicaid be a public employee insurance plan
19:24
Speaker 6: that all pay less than what we would say as
19:26
Speaker 6: commercial rates. So there's a big preponderance and support to
19:32
Speaker 6: maintain certificated needs so we can keep access moving, keep
19:36
Speaker 6: affordability and to be able to provide good healthcare. Planning
19:40
Speaker 6: certificated need in other states work differently. Where states like
19:44
Speaker 6: Virginia the Commonwealth where I worked before, on average is
19:47
Speaker 6: about sixty percent commercial, which means the profitability of healthcare
19:51
Speaker 6: is much different than states like ours that are more
19:53
Speaker 6: rural and rely on Medicare, Medicaid and PEIA.
19:57
Speaker 3: So I'm going to play Devil's advocate here for a moment, David,
20:00
Speaker 3: if you don't mind, it's my job.
20:01
Speaker 1: If I hope that's okay with you.
20:02
Speaker 6: But sure.
20:05
Speaker 3: Many would say, and I've had people on the show
20:07
Speaker 3: that have spoken against Certificate of Need have said this
20:10
Speaker 3: is just another example of governmental overreach and the government
20:14
Speaker 3: telling private entities how to do business. I know you
20:17
Speaker 3: get that statement thrown out there a lot. What is
20:20
Speaker 3: your response to that?
20:22
Speaker 6: So, first, I would say healthcare is not free market.
20:25
Speaker 6: We have significant regulations on us by the federal government,
20:28
Speaker 6: the state government, insurance payers, and a host of things
20:33
Speaker 6: on us. We're not like other businesses. First. Secondly, what
20:37
Speaker 6: Certificate of Need is trying to do is to really
20:40
Speaker 6: balance distribution of healthcare across our state. The third thing
20:45
Speaker 6: I would say is private doctors, private physical therapists can
20:49
Speaker 6: go ahead today and open up clinics all around the state. Now,
20:52
Speaker 6: I'm one of the things I did when I testified
20:54
Speaker 6: in front of the Joint Health Committee a little over
20:56
Speaker 6: a week ago, to share generally qualified health centers, rural
21:00
Speaker 6: health clinics, private pharmacies, clinics and hospitals owned and operated
21:06
Speaker 6: by hospitals. We cover almost every corner of the state today,
21:10
Speaker 6: so there is significant competition amongst providers in the state,
21:14
Speaker 6: and organizations outside the state can apply to get a
21:18
Speaker 6: certificate in need or operate. One of the examples I
21:21
Speaker 6: use is UPMC, a health system out of Pittsburg, acquired
21:26
Speaker 6: some of the assets of the Legacy net Express Well
21:29
Speaker 6: they're going to own twenty some on clinics in the state.
21:32
Speaker 6: So we have variable providers already competing in the state
21:35
Speaker 6: to improve our outcomes and provide access.
21:38
Speaker 3: Talking again with David Goldberg about certificate of need, it's
21:40

22:02
Speaker 3: guess you know. We set up this interview I think
22:05
Speaker 3: late last week, and then there was some news, as
22:07
Speaker 3: I mentioned at the top of the segment, that came
22:09
Speaker 3: out of the Capitol last night, and I know that
22:12
Speaker 3: we're going to talk about it more on talk line today,
22:14
Speaker 3: but it did fail in committee in the House.
22:17
Speaker 6: Your response to that, well, first, I want to thank
22:21
Speaker 6: the legislature. We had some significant discussions over the last
22:25
Speaker 6: couple of weeks about certificate and need to remind everyone
22:29
Speaker 6: doesn't I seeing certificated need for the last couple of years.
22:32
Speaker 6: Two years ago they made a significant change where hospitals
22:35
Speaker 6: on their campuses lifted the cap of capital projects that
22:39
Speaker 6: we can be able to expand, and we've seen projects
22:42
Speaker 6: like expanded Open Heart in Charleston, new rehabilitation hospitals, billions
22:47
Speaker 6: of dollars of healthcare that's been announced that is coming
22:50
Speaker 6: across the state through all of your healthcare providers today.
22:54
Speaker 6: We look forward to sitting down with the Governor, the
22:56
Speaker 6: Department of Health and the Secretary of Health and the
22:58
Speaker 6: Legislature to continue you to modernize and find ways to
23:02
Speaker 6: evolve access. And we could do it together collaboratively because.
23:06
Speaker 3: The Governor, I mean, it's pretty well documented that the
23:08
Speaker 3: Governor was one of the ones that was really championing,
23:11
Speaker 3: championing the repeal a certificate need and my sources tell
23:16
Speaker 3: me I wasn't there. My sources tell me last night
23:18
Speaker 3: that he was doing some campaign and you know, trying
23:20
Speaker 3: to trying to get it repealed. It eventually failed in committee,
23:23
Speaker 3: and so the fight on either side, David is not
23:27
Speaker 3: over yet, because you're likely to see this in the Senate, I'm.
23:30
Speaker 6: Told, Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't qualify it as a fight.
23:35
Speaker 6: I think it's different perspective DISCUSSIONVO you the governor. Yeah,
23:38
Speaker 6: I value the Governor in his perspective. I mean, he
23:41
Speaker 6: is entitled to his opinion. I think together we could
23:44
Speaker 6: start sitting down now, as the Hospital Association, the Nursing Holmes,
23:48
Speaker 6: hostage agencies and all the providers to sit with the
23:52
Speaker 6: Governor of the DHHR and the Legislature I mean, we
23:55
Speaker 6: want to improve our outcome, we want to reduce costs,
23:57
Speaker 6: we want to improve access. All of us are a lot.
24:00
Speaker 6: We may have different thoughts of how to get there,
24:02
Speaker 6: but we're all aligned to make healthcare better and outcomes
24:05
Speaker 6: better for the patients we treat.
24:07
Speaker 3: All right, interesting stuff, and I appre you, as you said,
24:10
Speaker 3: you have an interesting perspective because you've been employed in
24:13
Speaker 3: states that have certificate of need and those that don't.
24:15
Speaker 3: I appreciate you taking time out of your you're a
24:17
Speaker 3: busy guy. Appreciate you taking time out of your schedule
24:20
Speaker 3: to be here with us, and we'll keep an eye
24:21
Speaker 3: on what's going on. We'll talk soon.
24:22
Speaker 6: Thanks a lot, Thanks, thanks for the opportunity, and we
24:25
Speaker 6: appreciate it.
24:26
Speaker 3: All right. That's David Goldberg again, really serving more on
24:31
Speaker 3: the show today as as part of the Hospital Association,
24:34
Speaker 3: so I appreciate him taking time out to be there.
24:37
Speaker 1: Yeah.
24:37
Speaker 3: I wasn't watching all of the doings at the Capitol
24:41
Speaker 3: last night, but I did speak to some people earlier
24:43
Speaker 3: this morning that were and it was kind of fascinating.
24:47
Speaker 3: I guess to see what happened last night. This thing
24:49
Speaker 3: basically died. From what I understand in committee and our boy,
24:55
Speaker 3: my boy, Mike Pushkin, State Democratic Party Chair in delegate.
24:59
Speaker 3: I think he's a procedural move to make sure that
25:02
Speaker 3: it cannot be brought up again in the House. And again,
25:05
Speaker 3: I am not a parliamentarian by any stretch of the imagination.
25:08
Speaker 3: I'll leave that to TJ.
25:09
Speaker 1: Meadows.
25:10
Speaker 3: I mean, he's such a parliamentary and he practically wears
25:12
Speaker 3: a powdered wig. So we'll talk to Wilson and Meadows
25:16
Speaker 3: about that a little bit later on. They'll delve into
25:18
Speaker 3: this a whole lot more deeply on talk line coming
25:20
Speaker 3: up this morning at ten o six. Now, again, as
25:23
Speaker 3: we said, it's not done. It's still likely at the
25:28
Speaker 3: request of the governor, to come back up in the
25:30
Speaker 3: Senate and we'll see what is happening there. I got
25:33
Speaker 3: some text to get to and then we will go
25:36
Speaker 3: to break. Let me see here. Texts says, Wow, Morrisey
25:44
Speaker 3: got embarrassed last night, says the Texter. Well, you know,
25:47
Speaker 3: it wasn't what he wanted. I don't know if embarrassed
25:51
Speaker 3: would be the right word, but it was certainly wasn't
25:53
Speaker 3: what he wanted. Text says a day federal disaster was
25:57
Speaker 3: approved yesterday for southern West Virginia. Trump and his administration
26:01
Speaker 3: again watching out for the United States citizens. I have
26:04
Speaker 3: not seen that not saying it wasn't. But I peruse
26:08
Speaker 3: a whole lot of news sites before I go on
26:11
Speaker 3: the air, and I have not seen that not saying
26:15
Speaker 3: it wasn't. We'll leave that up to the news department.
26:16
Speaker 3: I'll check and see what I can find out during
26:18
Speaker 3: their break. Tex says lawmakers don't take kindly to the
26:21
Speaker 3: governor intruding in on their committee meetings and then the
26:26
Speaker 3: first lady and an elected woman trying to strong arm them.
26:29
Speaker 3: They have some hard lessons to learn, says a Texter.
26:36
Speaker 3: Texas Doge closed the Social Security office in your hometown
26:40
Speaker 3: of Logan last night. It was kept quiet of the
26:43
Speaker 3: rules of building stability. Where our elected congressional delegation. Where
26:46
Speaker 3: are our elected congressional delegations fighting for our jobs? Yeah,
26:50
Speaker 3: I saw some chatter about that last night. I was
26:54
Speaker 3: told and I know that I actually shared a story
26:56
Speaker 3: over my Facebook page cheap Plug Dave aland Radio, and
27:00
Speaker 3: I think it was WWKTV thirteen that reported that that
27:03
Speaker 3: was already scheduled to be closed, that it was on
27:06
Speaker 3: a list to be closed anyway.
27:08
Speaker 1: Now I don't know.
27:09
Speaker 3: I mean that's what they are reporting, but I I
27:14
Speaker 3: think it was already scheduled to be closed. I can
27:16
Speaker 3: tell you that there's a whole lot of people, including Republicans,
27:18
Speaker 3: upset about the closure of a facility in Parkersburg. And
27:22
Speaker 3: again they'll get into that a little bit more on

31:32
Speaker 3: It's getting more toxic by the day, says a texture.

32:07

32:10
Speaker 3: in rural areas where healthcare is mostly needed. You've heard
32:14
Speaker 3: us talking about it the last several days. The drive
32:17
Speaker 3: we're doing tomorrow to eight flood victims in southern West Virginia.
32:20
Speaker 3: We're teaming up with the folks at Charleston Dirty Birds
32:22
Speaker 3: and of course Union Mission, and also big shout out
32:25
Speaker 3: to the members Choice Federal Credit Union for sponsored it.
32:28
Speaker 3: We're gonna be out on our lot starting at seven
32:29
Speaker 3: am tomorrow morning and we will be there until six
32:32
Speaker 3: pm tomorrow evening. All of our stations will be out there,
32:36
Speaker 3: and I have with me this morning Steve Animal from
32:39
Speaker 3: a ninety eight to seven of the Mountain Wild and
32:40
Speaker 3: Wonderful classic rock.
32:42
Speaker 14: How are you funds are a little tighty this morning?
32:44
Speaker 3: Well, take your hand off the cord. I'm nuts.
32:47
Speaker 14: That's a little bit all right.
32:48
Speaker 3: All right. Also, Jason Contrel is here. How you doing, man,
32:51
Speaker 3: I'm doing good man. It's funny because every time that
32:55
Speaker 3: Jason is around either me an animal or me and
32:58
Speaker 3: Rob Real, he constantly has this surprised look on his face. Yeah, yeah,
33:03
Speaker 3: that's true because you've never I know, you know, you
33:07
Speaker 3: ain't never seen a lot of radio people and how
33:09
Speaker 3: we act.
33:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, in our natural environment. But I'm coming to find out.
33:13
Speaker 1: It's interesting though.
33:14
Speaker 3: It's a documentary. Waiting, I'm starting, I'm taking notes. Actually,
33:18
Speaker 3: I have said this before. My wife was a psychology major,
33:21
Speaker 3: and I am convinced that.
33:23
Speaker 1: And I've been in radio.
33:24
Speaker 3: Next month will be thirty seven years. We've been married
33:28
Speaker 3: for thirty two years. I'm convinced that the entire thing
33:32
Speaker 3: is just a psychological experiment. That she's just taking notes.
33:35
Speaker 3: At any time that she which was frequently, anytime that
33:38
Speaker 3: she's around events with Steve or with Woody or with
33:43
Speaker 3: Rob Reel, she always has a notebook out. I don't know,
33:45
Speaker 3: I don't know what that's all about. She's always taken
33:47
Speaker 3: notes on that.
33:48
Speaker 14: I keep telling her, lower your expectations you'll be fine.
33:51
Speaker 1: Well she married me. They can't get much lower than that.
33:53
Speaker 3: Jason's with the Union mission. Thank you so much for
33:56
Speaker 3: teaming up with this. I mean, let's get serious here
34:00
Speaker 3: a moment. Jason. You've been in contact with people down there.
34:02
Speaker 3: People are hurting down there, man.
34:04
Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean we're talking roads, we're talking homes, schools,
34:08
Speaker 15: businesses completely demolished.
34:11
Speaker 3: Read a story in the paper this morning that in
34:14
Speaker 3: Mingo County there was an entire community that was pretty
34:18
Speaker 3: much wiped out. And as tends to be the case
34:20
Speaker 3: where you know, in my part of the world, in
34:22
Speaker 3: southern West Virginia, you have a lot of families that
34:23
Speaker 3: live close to each other. Currently have sixteen people living
34:27
Speaker 3: in one home in Mingo County because all the ones
34:29
Speaker 3: around them were destroyed and they're all staying with you,
34:33
Speaker 3: grandma or whatever. So they have sixteen people living in
34:35
Speaker 3: one home.
34:35
Speaker 2: Man.
34:36
Speaker 3: Well, it's real stuff.
34:37
Speaker 15: Huge shout out to first respond responders down there. I mean,
34:41
Speaker 15: in two days they did over one hundred and thirty
34:42
Speaker 15: water rescues.
34:44
Speaker 3: That's insane, it is.
34:45
Speaker 14: And I know some people from Charleston. Some of the
34:48
Speaker 14: rescue units were sent from here and they went down
34:50
Speaker 14: to help, which was pretty awesome.
34:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, indeed, So here's what we're doing tomorrow.
34:55
Speaker 3: And it was really kind of interesting because the way
34:57
Speaker 3: this whole thing came about because we had a meeting
35:00
Speaker 3: upstairs in a deal Cooper's office last week and different
35:03
Speaker 3: different folks were in it. Animal wasn't there because there
35:07
Speaker 3: wasn't food involved, so he wasn't.
35:09
Speaker 1: There, but we were understanding, we were having we're having.
35:11
Speaker 3: A conversation up there. Uh and somebody and somebody said,
35:14
Speaker 3: you know, what what can we do? And I get
35:17
Speaker 3: a text from Jason basically as if you know, the
35:22
Speaker 3: Heaven's intervened here saying, hey, call me. I want to
35:26
Speaker 3: talk about what we can do. I held the phone
35:27
Speaker 3: up to the people in the office and go, well,
35:28
Speaker 3: here you go. So what we're doing tomorrow We're going
35:31
Speaker 3: to set up shop on our parking lot eleven eleven
35:34
Speaker 3: Virginia Street East and Charleston seven am til six pm. Again,
35:37
Speaker 3: all of our stations are going to be involved in this,
35:40
Speaker 3: and I have if you go over to the Mountain
35:43
Speaker 3: Facebook page, if you go over to any of the
35:44
Speaker 3: station's Facebook page, just or my personal Day Island Radio,
35:47
Speaker 3: I've got a list of what we are collected. Now
35:50
Speaker 3: somebody said, well can I bring this or can I
35:52
Speaker 3: bring that? You can bring whatever you want. We're just
35:55
Speaker 3: asking these are the things that we most that are
35:58
Speaker 3: most being requested by the people that are there.
36:02
Speaker 1: But you can bring whatever you want. And you can
36:04
Speaker 1: always bring cash.
36:05
Speaker 15: To Yeah, we're not going to turn your way. And
36:07
Speaker 15: absolutely we can. We can stretch that cash out. You
36:10
Speaker 15: can go to we feed people dot Com give that
36:12
Speaker 15: way as well. And it's awesome how West Virginia aplatch
36:15
Speaker 15: and people come together in time of need. Let's do
36:17
Speaker 15: it one more time, shall we?
36:19
Speaker 14: Absolutely? And some of the items we're looking for five
36:22
Speaker 14: gallon reusable buckets, gloves, masks, trash bags, household cleaners, hygiene products, Dave,
36:28
Speaker 14: we'll get you some too, first aid supplies. And you
36:31
Speaker 14: said stacks of cash and checks are just awesome. And
36:35
Speaker 14: Uncle Vito will be there to receive the cash.
36:38
Speaker 3: And I say all the time that we have the
36:40
Speaker 3: greatest listeners in the world.
36:41
Speaker 1: We see it when we did the sock drop with you,
36:43
Speaker 1: when we've done the backpack attack and all these other
36:46
Speaker 1: things that we do.
36:47
Speaker 3: The veteran stuff. I know that animal does over on
36:49
Speaker 3: the Mountain. I'm standing out front this morning, getting ready
36:53
Speaker 3: to go on the show, talking to Rich the realtor,
36:55
Speaker 3: who is my first guest this morning. Lady comes in says, hey,
36:58
Speaker 3: Hurd it on the radio. Can't be here tomorrow, and
37:00
Speaker 3: she gave us she brought in like two bags of stuff. Yes,
37:02
Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, that's that's good stuff. That's why
37:05
Speaker 3: I say we have the greatest listeners in that. That's amazing.
37:08
Speaker 15: Yeah. When I first walked in, your your Tracy, Yeah,
37:12
Speaker 15: she said, look at this, we're already getting There was
37:14
Speaker 15: six seven, eight, nine, ten bags already at the front,
37:17
Speaker 15: front desk and is awesome.
37:18
Speaker 3: Indeed, it is sixteen minutes away from Tien. Today valland
37:21
Speaker 3: showing five Any Life brought to you in part by
37:23
Speaker 3: Bridge Valley there Win Academy can provide free college credit
37:26
Speaker 3: and nursing and advanced manufacturing to students while they're still
37:28
Speaker 3: in high school. But free college credit and nursing and
37:31
Speaker 3: advanced manufacturing to students while they're still in high school.
37:33
Speaker 3: Visit Bridge Valley dot dyu slash Win Academy for more information.
37:38
Speaker 3: And again those items that we have that Steve just
37:40
Speaker 3: read to you, that's just some of them, but we're
37:43
Speaker 3: not limited to that. And I sold the story in
37:45
Speaker 3: there yesterday. My wife is a shopper by sport. You
37:49
Speaker 3: know that she loves to shop. And you give her
37:52
Speaker 3: a well, it's her money, she makes it. She can
37:53
Speaker 3: do what she wants to do with it. We give
37:55
Speaker 3: her our project. We say, he goes. She got a
37:58
Speaker 3: whole lot of stuff at Dollar Tree, I mean on
38:03
Speaker 3: on over the weekend Sunday, I think it was, and
38:05
Speaker 3: she and she brought this stuff. So we're not asking you,
38:08
Speaker 3: you know, to go out and spend a whole lot
38:10
Speaker 3: of money here. I mean you can get a lot
38:11
Speaker 3: of stuff that that's on Steve's list that he just
38:14
Speaker 3: read there at places like Dollar Tree or you know,
38:17
Speaker 3: your local walies or whatever the care any of those.
38:21
Speaker 14: Absolutely, and I mean the devastation down there. I just
38:25
Speaker 14: saw the flood wall around the hospital. That was amazing,
38:29
Speaker 14: like absolutely amazing that it functioned. It worked, but so
38:34
Speaker 14: many people have lost. And it's not just you know,
38:37
Speaker 14: household items are just the cleaning supplies. I mean they
38:39
Speaker 14: lost clothing. I mean every every article of clothing, whatever
38:43
Speaker 14: they had on their back is probably what they have
38:46
Speaker 14: right now to to wear and something.
38:49
Speaker 3: You know, I've been lucky in my life. I've only
38:53
Speaker 3: really gone through one flood and then it was just
38:55
Speaker 3: a building. But I do I've been I reported on
38:58
Speaker 3: a whole lot of them in Southernwise Virginia. The stuff
39:00
Speaker 3: that you can't replace, you know, the pictures and things
39:03
Speaker 3: of that nature that you can't replace. And I will
39:06
Speaker 3: mention a brief programming note that metroduced talk line with
39:09
Speaker 3: the Dave Wilson TJ. Meadows. They are going to be
39:11
Speaker 3: live at the Armory in Welch on Thursday, so you
39:15
Speaker 3: may want to tune into that. And I presume Jason,
39:19
Speaker 3: that you guys got a plan on how to distribute
39:21
Speaker 3: whatever we collect to get to those people down there.
39:23
Speaker 15: I have people in McDowell County right now assessing where
39:27
Speaker 15: the best drop off point will be for McDowell County.
39:30
Speaker 15: We've already got a couple places in Mingo ready to go.
39:34
Speaker 15: But yeah, we'll be we'll take care of all.
39:36
Speaker 14: That and again starting tomorrow at seven am in our
39:40
Speaker 14: lot at eleven eleven Virginia Street, bring what you can
39:43
Speaker 14: five gallon we usable buckets. I'm repeating it because it's important. Gloves, masks, trash, bags,
39:48
Speaker 14: household cleaners, hygiene products for st aid supplies, and like
39:52
Speaker 14: we said, cash and checks and they can go to
39:54
Speaker 14: your website too to make a monetary donation.
39:56
Speaker 6: Yea.
39:57
Speaker 1: And again, and I want to also give a big
39:58
Speaker 1: shout out to the folks at Chick fil Tom Minturning
40:01
Speaker 1: those folks.
40:01
Speaker 3: Anytime we do an event like this, they provide lunch
40:06
Speaker 3: for us, which is important, but that's not as important
40:10
Speaker 3: as I mean what they do for the community. They
40:13
Speaker 3: will frequently and if Tom's listening right now, I don't
40:17
Speaker 3: know if he's done at this time. He always has
40:18
Speaker 3: in the past, not putting any pressure on him, but
40:21
Speaker 3: they've always given us certificates. And so we just pick
40:23
Speaker 3: random cars out and say here, go go over to
40:26
Speaker 3: Chick fil A, get some get some of the Lord's chicken.
40:28
Speaker 1: There you go.
40:29
Speaker 15: Yeah, Tom's on our board and he does a great
40:31
Speaker 15: job for us. But man, he is in the community everywhere.
40:34
Speaker 15: It's pretty awesome to see.
40:35
Speaker 1: That's very important.
40:36
Speaker 3: Yeah. And the great thing when we do these is
40:38
Speaker 3: that you don't even have to get out of your car.
40:39
Speaker 1: Yeah.
40:40
Speaker 3: And again, So it's seven am to six pm tomorrow,
40:43
Speaker 3: And unlike as we mentioned earlier, the last time when
40:45
Speaker 3: we were all freezing to death out there trying to
40:48
Speaker 3: collect the socks for the sock drop. This is going
40:50
Speaker 3: to be a lot better because it's going to be
40:52
Speaker 3: sixty five degrees. And Ashley, who's kind of putting this
40:55
Speaker 3: thing together for us upstairs yesterday said I couldn't get
40:57
Speaker 3: people out of their offices for the sock drop.
41:00
Speaker 1: Out tomorrow, nobody will get any work done.
41:02
Speaker 3: All these sales, weasels and whatever, they're all gonna want
41:04
Speaker 3: to be out there because the weather is going to
41:05
Speaker 3: be so nice. And again with our stations, with the
41:08
Speaker 3: power that we have with all of us here. We
41:10
Speaker 3: have w CCHS, we have Charleston, ESPN Radio, we have
41:13
Speaker 3: the Mountain, we have kws V one hundred of the
41:16
Speaker 3: beat KAZ, We've got all these stations, all these personalities.
41:19
Speaker 3: We're all going to be out there together tomorrow. And
41:22
Speaker 3: you don't even have to get out of your car, man,
41:24
Speaker 3: You just make that whatever the it's.
41:26
Speaker 14: Not going to be like your car jacking. We're going
41:28
Speaker 14: to be taking stuff from me.
41:29
Speaker 1: Well, I will say this, if you pulled on the
41:31
Speaker 1: parking lot and you see Steve Animal approaching your car,
41:34
Speaker 1: you might roll the windows up and lock the doors.
41:36
Speaker 1: But it's this time.
41:37
Speaker 14: I'll also have like your family four pack to the
41:41
Speaker 14: tough Man tough Man thank you at Millwood tomorrow or
41:45
Speaker 14: Friday night. Yeah, but I will be giving away a
41:47
Speaker 14: family four pack tomorrow.
41:48
Speaker 3: That's for the tough Man contest in Jackson County at Millwood.
41:51
Speaker 3: We have a text here for you, mister Quintrail. It says,
41:55
Speaker 3: who do we make checks?
41:56
Speaker 1: Two? Union Mission?
41:57
Speaker 3: Okay, Union mission. So if you want to drop off
42:00
Speaker 3: the check and look, if you can't make it tomorrow,
42:02
Speaker 3: we'd love to have you seven am to six pm tomorrow.
42:05
Speaker 3: But if you can't make it tomorrow and you need
42:06
Speaker 3: to drop them off today, that's fine. Tracy will make
42:09
Speaker 3: sure she takes care of that out front. But yeah,
42:11
Speaker 3: you make your checks out to Union Mission, and you
42:14
Speaker 3: folks will make sure that they get in the right hands.
42:16
Speaker 1: Yes, sir, absolutely all.
42:17
Speaker 14: Right, which is awesome. All right, any extra checks you
42:20
Speaker 14: can go to Steve an all right.
42:21
Speaker 1: This is why he always takes it too far until
42:24
Speaker 1: you ask to buy it by Steve a new liver campaign.
42:28
Speaker 1: All right, animal, I will see you out on the
42:30
Speaker 1: lot tomorrow and again as an added bonus, we are
42:33
Speaker 1: going to be doing very all the stations can be
42:35
Speaker 1: doing giveaways out there tomorrow. Dirty birds are going to
42:37
Speaker 1: be here.
42:38
Speaker 3: They're gonna come with some We just kind of pick
42:40
Speaker 3: random people and say, okay, next, next five cars that
42:43
Speaker 3: come in, we'll do this, next thing.
42:44
Speaker 1: You know, we'll do that.
42:45
Speaker 3: It's awesome.
42:46
Speaker 14: Yes, I think they'll be washing cars too. And if
42:48
Speaker 14: they don't know that they are.
42:50
Speaker 3: Now if you talked to Joe Parsons about the water
42:53
Speaker 3: bill here, I don't know if that's gonna work. Shut

46:19
Speaker 12: the show talking about the flood drive, as you just
46:22
Speaker 12: heard us talking about that we're doing for the people
46:24
Speaker 12: of southern West Virginia. Teaming up with the Charleston Dirty
46:26

46:42
Speaker 3: Also on tomorrow's show, not the only thing we're going
46:44
Speaker 3: to talk about. Big event that actually kicks off tomorrow
46:47
Speaker 3: and runs through the weekend here at Charleston. It is
46:49
Speaker 3: the annual Celtic Calling Events. We'll spend some time talking
46:53
Speaker 3: about that on the show as well. Bigley Pickley Wiggly

47:06
Speaker 3: Then we're going to go live to the Capitol. The
47:08
Speaker 3: Division of Highways is set to host an informational meeting
47:11
Speaker 3: this evening concerning a road widening proposal in Tayes Valley.
47:15
Speaker 3: Now this is an area from Great Tayes Boulevard to
47:17
Speaker 3: Apple Lane. Story posted about at WCS network dot com.
47:22
Speaker 3: This meeting will run from four intill seven at tays
47:25
Speaker 3: Valley Christian School in Scott Depot. I love this stuff
47:28
Speaker 3: because it means progress is happening. People are moving into
47:31
Speaker 3: my home and my adopted home County.
47:33
Speaker 1: I love it.
47:34
Speaker 3: Let's go to the capitol now and talk to Dave
47:38
Speaker 3: Wilson and TJ. Meadows. Morning fellows, Morning, Dave, what are
47:42
Speaker 3: you wrong about today? Not a dang thing, Duddy, Not
47:45
Speaker 3: a dang thing.
47:47
Speaker 1: So you guys, as I mentioned earlier, you guys are
47:49
Speaker 1: going down to Welch on Thursday, right, Yeah, the plan
47:53
Speaker 1: is to go to the Armory in Welch.
47:56
Speaker 9: That show powered by our friends over at Huntington Bank,
47:59
Speaker 9: and we're looking forward, Dave, the opportunity to just tell
48:03
Speaker 9: the stories of the folks down there who have been
48:05
Speaker 9: dealing with this flooding, how their lives have been impacted,
48:08
Speaker 9: and how their businesses have been impacted, and how you
48:12
Speaker 9: all can help out in that recovery effort. Look, Dave,
48:15
Speaker 9: you know McDowell County used to have what one hundred
48:17
Speaker 9: thousand people at one time. That population's down to around
48:20
Speaker 9: three thousand, and they kind of feel forgotten down in
48:25
Speaker 9: that part of the state.
48:26
Speaker 5: So we're gonna go.
48:27
Speaker 9: Down and hopefully share some stories and hopefully help some
48:30
Speaker 9: folks out down in Wells later this week.
48:33
Speaker 3: Let's talk about certificate of need. I had David Goldberg
48:35
Speaker 3: on a little on the show a little bit earlier
48:37
Speaker 3: talking about it.
48:37
Speaker 1: It died in the House last night. It is going
48:41
Speaker 1: to come back up, I'm told in the Senate. What's
48:43
Speaker 1: your guys take on this?
48:45
Speaker 9: Well, a couple of different things. One is this was
48:49
Speaker 9: something that Governor Morrissey is pushing and pushing very hard for,
48:55
Speaker 9: and so it is significant that the Republican superman Jordy
49:00
Speaker 9: in the House said, no, excuse something that the governor's
49:03
Speaker 9: pushing for. And you're right, there's a bill in the Senate.
49:06
Speaker 9: This is not done by a long stretch, Dave, And
49:10
Speaker 9: you know as well as anybody here at the Capitol,
49:13
Speaker 9: it ain't over until it's over, and then it's still
49:15
Speaker 9: not and it's still over at that Bright Lead's story
49:18
Speaker 9: this morning at wv Metro News dot Com has to
49:21
Speaker 9: do with vaccines, and you recall on Friday a bill
49:24
Speaker 9: allowing for providing religious and philosophical exemptions to West Virginia
49:28
Speaker 9: school vaccination requirements passed.
49:31
Speaker 3: It passed in the Senate. Now delegates are going to
49:35
Speaker 3: good to work out it. Yesterday afternoon, the House Health
49:38
Speaker 3: Committee had a meeting lasted more than five hours. That
49:41
Speaker 3: must have been fun to cover. Brad mcelhanny has the
49:44
Speaker 3: story posted about it. SB for sixty would allow religious
49:48
Speaker 3: exemptions if a parent or guarding them jacks. The adults
49:50
Speaker 3: would have to submit an annual written statement requesting a
49:54
Speaker 3: religious or philosophical exemption. And again you can read more
49:56
Speaker 3: about it in Brad's story. What are you hearing there?
49:59
Speaker 9: Actually, God, the same as it was that that bill
50:02
Speaker 9: is going to I would anticipate that bill sailing through
50:05
Speaker 9: the House of Delegates. That's just the temperature in the
50:08
Speaker 9: room right now, Dave. Whether or not you agree with
50:11
Speaker 9: that or you disagree with that, certainly a lot of
50:15
Speaker 9: people have very strong takes on the matter. There was
50:18
Speaker 9: actually some compelling testimony yesterday, Dave, of people who genuinely believe,
50:23
Speaker 9: one hundred percent, without a doubt, their children suffered adverse
50:28
Speaker 9: impacts due to vaccinations. Well, is that enough of a
50:33
Speaker 9: reason to have a blanket, one size fits all policy.
50:37
Speaker 9: I don't think so, but that seems to be the
50:40
Speaker 9: direction we're moving here.
50:41
Speaker 3: So what's on the schedule for today? Who you got
50:44
Speaker 3: on the show today?
50:45
Speaker 9: Joe Ellington, House Education Committee chairs going to joy us.
50:48
Speaker 9: We're going to talk about student discipline a little bit later.
50:50
Speaker 9: Gino Sharelli, who was on that House, is on that
50:53
Speaker 9: House Health Committee. He's going to talk a certificate of
50:56
Speaker 9: need as well as a Senate built for sixty brads.
51:00
Speaker 9: Stops by and Amelia nicely, we'll hang out with us
51:02
Speaker 9: as well. Oh, Ryan Cohen Kradick, excuse me, is going
51:06
Speaker 9: to join us. His son was Cohen Kratick, the middle
51:10
Speaker 9: school football player in Madison who tragically suffered a head
51:13
Speaker 9: injury and passed away. There is a bill that has
51:16
Speaker 9: been introduced to actually by Mike Stewart in the Senate.
51:19
Speaker 9: It's the Cohen Cretic Student Athlete Safety Act. We'll talk
51:22
Speaker 9: about that this morning at ten.
51:23
Speaker 3: All right, can I give you one little friendly piece
51:26
Speaker 3: of advice, as you and I have managed to get
51:27
Speaker 3: through this entire segment without fighting, Just one little piece
51:30
Speaker 3: of advice. Okay, I know it feels kind of weird.
51:32
Speaker 3: Southern West Virginia. It's pronounced cradock, Cradock, Cradock. I was
51:37
Speaker 3: going to have the producer ask now, because I'm from Dave,
51:41
Speaker 3: we get both well anywhere south of Charlton it's pronounced
51:45
Speaker 3: add a syllable to it. It's pronounced cradock.
51:48
Speaker 9: Is that kind of like Douvall?
51:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly like douval. All right, gosh, all right, guys,
51:53
Speaker 3: we'll be listening. Appreciate you man, thanks a lot.
51:55
Speaker 9: All right, we'll fight tomorrow.
51:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go.
51:57
Speaker 3: Wilson the Meadows coming up with talk line at ten
52:00
Speaker 3: o six from their AARP location at the Capitol. A
52:04
Speaker 3: couple of quick texts. Tex says Davis wanted to remind
52:06
Speaker 3: MAGA voters. Gas is still high, food's still high, and
52:09
Speaker 3: eggs off the chart. Starting to limit how many you
52:11
Speaker 3: can buy. This is progress. Three thousand people in the
52:15
Speaker 3: entire county, says a texture. Yeah, counties need consolidated. The
52:19
Speaker 3: vaccine bill, says a TEXTA takes us back over one
52:21
Speaker 3: hundred years.
52:22
Speaker 5: Gotta go.
52:23
Speaker 1: Thank you so much. All the guests on the show today.
52:25
Speaker 1: Download the WVRC Media app in the Metro News television
52:28
Speaker 1: app as well. My producer the A Train, Anthony Harmon
52:30
Speaker 1: coming up tillmorrow, till then, have fun.
52:34
Speaker 3: I love somebody
