- 0:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but they're really the best the worst.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Hey, Hollywood Co.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Go.

- 0:38SPEAKER_03: Nice shirt, man.
- 0:39SPEAKER_05: Welcome.
- 0:39SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 0:40SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 0:40SPEAKER_05: It's it's it's it's hot in my in this cube, but it's fall.
- 0:44SPEAKER_03: So for those of you watching on YouTube, Mike and I did not plan to uh both be wearing um autumn earth tones today, but I think you and I have uh complimented each other really nicely today.
- 0:54SPEAKER_03: So I think it's really our it's our best tones.
- 0:56SPEAKER_03: It's our best tones.
- 0:58SPEAKER_03: So that's uh that's good.
- 0:59SPEAKER_03: Uh quick check-in, man.
- 1:00SPEAKER_03: How you been?
- 1:01SPEAKER_03: How's your weekend?
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: Anything new to report?
- 1:03SPEAKER_05: Uh no, you know, we did one final pumpkin patch thing.
- 1:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we did that on Saturday.
- 1:09SPEAKER_05: Other than that, um, yeah, not a whole lot going on, man.
- 1:14SPEAKER_05: The the fall season flying by.
- 1:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it is it is upon us.
- 1:18SPEAKER_03: Temperatures are dropping, leaves are dropping, my yard's getting more and more covered quickly.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: Um, we do want that.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: Uh wrapped up some sports.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: We're at the very end of fallball and soccer.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: So my weekends are about to start getting actually get I'm gonna get my weekends back, which is kind of nice.
- 1:31SPEAKER_03: Um we we started carving pumpkins yesterday.
- 1:33SPEAKER_03: I mean, Thanksgiving is Thursday, so um, we're gonna be out here doing spooky things.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Your kids have a Halloween is Thursday.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: Halloween, what did I say?
- 1:41SPEAKER_05: Thanksgiving.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: Thanksgiving is also Thursday, but a way different Thursday.
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: This Thursday is Halloween.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: Do you have your uh kids' gossip?
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: You all spread away there?
- 1:48SPEAKER_05: Uh, not quite all squared away.
- 1:50SPEAKER_05: We're about there though.
- 1:51SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 1:52SPEAKER_05: Nice.
- 1:52SPEAKER_05: Um, yeah, I love Halloween, man.
- 1:54SPEAKER_05: Uh, this is like moving into the best time of the year.
- 1:57SPEAKER_05: It's it's gonna be college football and college basketball happening at the same time.
- 2:01SPEAKER_05: We're getting Halloween, then Thanksgiving rolling right on into Christmas.
- 2:05SPEAKER_05: This is just a fun time of year.
- 2:06SPEAKER_03: I couldn't agree with you more.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: Halloween is my my my favorite holiday, if not Thanksgiving, like 1A, 1B situation.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: So, no, this is the money zone.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: Um, I've been listening to Ray Parker Jr.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: Ghostbusters a lot.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: I always do this time of year.
- 2:18SPEAKER_05: So no, I'm oh for me, it's like Monster Mash on repeat.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, Bobby Borst and the Crip Kickers, the multi.
- 2:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that song's bangers.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: Still good bangers 60 years later, still still cooking.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's really only three.
- 2:35SPEAKER_03: There's really only three.
- 2:37SPEAKER_03: It's Thriller, Monster Mash, and Ray Parker Jr.
- 2:40SPEAKER_03: Uh, Ghostbusters are really like like the three, all are great, all are great, but they don't really have a fourth trick up their sleeve.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: Um, so I don't know.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: They're a little bit behind Christmas, which has like anthologies dedicated to it.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: So, you know, what are we gonna do?
- 2:52SPEAKER_03: Uh, all right, cool.
- 2:53SPEAKER_03: Let's talk some football.
- 2:54SPEAKER_03: So, first thing we're gonna do, we're gonna hit you kind of some initial thoughts before we jump into the autopsy.
- 2:58SPEAKER_03: Seven undefeated teams left, two went down, Liberty and Navy lost.
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: Mike, quick question.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Does anybody make it to the playoff undefeated of the seven undefeated teams?
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: Oregon, Penn State, Indiana, BYU, Iowa State, Army, Miami.
- 3:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I think you could definitely make a case for Miami.
- 3:17SPEAKER_05: I think you could make a case for Oregon.
- 3:19SPEAKER_05: Um, I think even Army's got kind of an outside shot.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: They gotta take a near Notre Dame.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: Notre Dame is Yeah, that's the thing.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: They've got one, you know, they got one.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: And then they've got probably got to beat Tulane in the AAC championship, which isn't a gimme, but yeah, that's gonna be uh, I think they I could certainly think they could do it.
- 3:38SPEAKER_03: I I had Oregon as the only team, but I totally forgot about Miami.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: Miami's schedule the rest of the way is pretty manageable, and then obviously they have Clemson the A and the ACC championship.
- 3:47SPEAKER_05: Likely, yeah, likely Miami Clemson matchup, one of those teams looking at a potential undefeated season on the line.
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Clemson dropped the one to Georgia, but then it was undefeated in ACC play.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: So uh yeah, Oregon and Miami seem like the uh top dogs, but you know, it's a playoff, so you don't have to be undefeated, not a big deal, but it'd be cool if you are.
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: Uh, following up on our Oregon State Washington State sadness tour, I talked to some talked to you yesterday about how many um, I think it was two weeks ago.
- 4:12SPEAKER_03: I asked you specifically how many power four teams each play each team play, and they play like three or four.
- 4:17SPEAKER_03: Get this, they just scheduled to play each other twice in 2025.
- 4:22SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: Oh, sucks.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: I feel I feel bad for Oregon State and Washington.
- 4:29SPEAKER_03: I felt bad two weeks ago.
- 4:30SPEAKER_03: Now I feel worse.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: If they were good teams, that would be awesome.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: Wazoo is good, they're gonna go 11 and 1 this year.
- 4:36SPEAKER_03: Oregon State's not good, but Washington State is is pretty good.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: They're good.
- 4:40SPEAKER_05: You're right.
- 4:40SPEAKER_05: They are good.
- 4:41SPEAKER_03: They are good.
- 4:42SPEAKER_05: That's about as high as they're good.
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: They're good.
- 4:44SPEAKER_03: Washington State.
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: They're fine.
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: They're fine.
- 4:46SPEAKER_03: They're not, I mean, they're yeah, but honestly, like Washington State is probably as good as the G5 champion that's gonna get in.
- 4:52SPEAKER_03: Like a washing, a neutral site Washington State against Boise, which we'll talk about next year in a second.
- 4:57SPEAKER_03: Probably about an even money pick home game.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: So, like, Washington has a shot, but but they're not they're not even gonna get looked at.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: They're not even gonna get looked at, they're not going, um, they're not getting that large.
- 5:06SPEAKER_03: It's just it's just such a bummer for the pack, the ghost of the pack 12.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: Um, speaking of more bad news, and then we'll get into the good news.
- 5:13SPEAKER_03: Grayson McCall retired from NC State.
- 5:15SPEAKER_03: Uh, quarterback you and I were high on at Coastal Carolina, went to NC State.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: We saw him in the person, got just got abused by Tennessee, unfortunately, in the Duke's Mayo kickoff classic.
- 5:24SPEAKER_03: Uh, his took a nasty head injury like two weeks ago, three weeks ago, really hit the back of his head and hasn't been the same.
- 5:31SPEAKER_03: And he's out of college football and football altogether, which is really a bummer because he was really, really good when he was dealing.
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: And uh obviously head injuries are no fun.
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: So, Grace McCall.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: Good luck, whatever comes next, dude.
- 5:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's you hate to see that.
- 5:45SPEAKER_05: He was a really high performer at the lower level and then came up to the P5 and just didn't do what we thought he would do.
- 5:53SPEAKER_05: Uh, a lot of a lot of a lot of moving pieces in NC State this year didn't play out the way that we wanted, but uh you never want to see that.
- 6:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, hopefully, the best.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: G5 playoff update.
- 6:02SPEAKER_03: Boise, huge favorite.
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: They're now um like negative 175 to get the final playoff spot after beating UNLV, which is actually a great game on Friday night.
- 6:10SPEAKER_03: If you stay the past week to watch it, Memphis Tulane and Army are pretty much the only team Vegas, or really anybody's considering they're all tied for second, but like way back second.
- 6:19SPEAKER_03: It's like negative 150, then like plus 800.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: Uh, any thoughts on Boise being the big dog and then Memphis Two Lane Army having a shot to get it?
- 6:28SPEAKER_05: No, I mean, we've seen hints of this all year, and it's slowly playing out.
- 6:33SPEAKER_05: Um, we had thoughts early on that Boise State might be pretty legit.
- 6:38SPEAKER_05: We've talked about uh Ashton Genty all season, you know, they flexed their muscles and barely missed out on that big Oregon win.
- 6:46SPEAKER_05: Um, so you know, rightly so.
- 6:48SPEAKER_05: They're they're showing it more than some of these other teams, and um yeah, I think they're they're right where they should be.
- 6:55SPEAKER_05: I think I agree.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: Uh quick Heisman update.
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: Uh, we have a new leader in the clubhouse.
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: Dylan Gabriel has taken the lead at plus 260.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: This race is wide open.
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: I'm looking at the uh Heisman odds right now.
- 7:05SPEAKER_03: Dylan Gabriel, the leader plus 260, Camel Ward right behind him, 270, Travis Hunter plus 330.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: Good to see him back.
- 7:12SPEAKER_03: Ashton Genty plus 400, and then Cape Klubnik way behind him at 20 to 1, Beck 35 to 1, and Shadur 41, etc.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: Um, any so really it seems like for all accounts, you we kind of have a good idea who's getting invited.
- 7:24SPEAKER_03: New York, Genty, Hunter, Ward, and Gabriel.
- 7:28SPEAKER_03: There's a good chance any of those four guys could win.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: Um, any any thoughts on the Heisman where they stand now?
- 7:33SPEAKER_03: If you had to put money, you need to put$100 on today.
- 7:35SPEAKER_03: Would you take anybody specifically and be excited about it?
- 7:38SPEAKER_05: Um, I think just with the path that Oregon has left, it makes sense to continue to believe that Dylan Gabriel will be that guy.
- 7:46SPEAKER_05: Um, Cam Ward in the same vein.
- 7:48SPEAKER_05: I mean, both of those guys have you know lots of opportunity to put up big numbers.
- 7:53SPEAKER_05: Um, I still love Ashton Genty.
- 7:55SPEAKER_05: I hate to see him kind of falling off a little bit in the odds.
- 7:59SPEAKER_05: Uh, and then still no no sight of my boy Bryson Daly, the army quarterback.
- 8:07SPEAKER_05: Um, which is a shame.
- 8:08SPEAKER_05: If if if they continue to do what they're doing and he continues to put up big numbers and they win that game late against Notre Dame, don't be surprised if he pops on that list.
- 8:19SPEAKER_03: Oh, if he beats Notre Dame, I I I think that puts him in the top 10 at least, maybe even higher than that.
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: Um, I no, I couldn't agree with you more, but I just I mean, we saw what Notre Dame did the Navy.
- 8:29SPEAKER_03: Navy imploded, navy imploded, navy imploded, but um, that was a very clear difference of different athlete we'll talk about in a minute.
- 8:36SPEAKER_03: I'm with you.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: I want to see Genty win it.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: I also just want to see I want to see Travis Hunter there.
- 8:40SPEAKER_03: I I my whole thinking that I said to you a month ago about the Heisman was we have unprecedented running back, Ash and Genty, who is way ahead of yards of the last three running back winners: Henry, yeah, Bush, Ingram.
- 8:53SPEAKER_03: So he's there amongst the Heisman running backs, he's ahead of all of them.
- 8:57SPEAKER_03: Travis Hunter is the Shohei Otani of college football.
- 8:59SPEAKER_03: What he is doing is unprecedented.
- 9:01SPEAKER_03: We haven't seen guys playing two ways 100 snaps since pre-World War II.
- 9:05SPEAKER_03: Like the fact that one of these two phenomenons, if neither of them get it and they go back to the contender quarterback model, which I hate, which is yeah, right, Cam and Dylan, who no respect to either of those guys.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: I just this is the year to not give to that guy.
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna be pissed.
- 9:21SPEAKER_03: If if it doesn't go to Travis Hunter or Genty, I'm gonna be pissed about it.
- 9:24SPEAKER_03: That's what I'm trying to say.
- 9:25SPEAKER_05: I agree 100%.
- 9:26SPEAKER_05: And and I'm pretty sure Travis Hunter leads the his conference, the the um the Big 12 in touchdown catches and pass breakup.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: He is dealing, dude.
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: He is when he's on the field, when he's on the field, he is absolutely playmaker.
- 9:40SPEAKER_03: Uh, he's gonna be a top three pick, top two.
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: Like, I'm really, really excited for him.
- 9:44SPEAKER_05: And these are just the odds, so these are not the votes, these are not a ranking system.
- 9:48SPEAKER_05: Very liquid.
- 9:49SPEAKER_05: Ashton Genty, with the numbers he's put up, though, should be the very clear number one.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: Should be absolutely.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: Um, you and I are, you know what?
- 9:57SPEAKER_03: You and I should replace the Heisen uh committee with just you and me.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: We'll decide the Heisman every year, and people, Mike Blitz listeners, can give us your opinions, and we'll just decide the uh we'll do we'll do a better job than they do currently.
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: So, you know, well, yeah, because those guys don't even watch football.
- 10:11SPEAKER_03: No, those guys are all bozos, so totally agree.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: Uh, all right, let's move on.
- 10:14SPEAKER_03: Uh, I have a hypothetical for you.
- 10:16SPEAKER_03: I have a question for you, kind of about college football, kind of just a bigger thing.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: Iowa State is undefeated.
- 10:21SPEAKER_03: Uh, they are uh top 10.
- 10:23SPEAKER_03: They are uh Rocco Beck's pretty good defense.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: They are in the driver's seat for the Big 12 playoff committee.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: They were atrocious last year.
- 10:29SPEAKER_03: If you remember, a year before um they have forced a ton of guys to play.
- 10:34SPEAKER_03: Their quarterback got suspended for the gambling thing a while ago.
- 10:38SPEAKER_03: Oh, a bunch of there, a bunch of them.
- 10:39SPEAKER_03: A bunch of guys did.
- 10:40SPEAKER_03: And what happened was Iowa State was forced to play guys that simply were not ready.
- 10:44SPEAKER_03: And what happened was this year was they got a ton of seasoning, experience, knowledge, confidence that they weren't supposed to.
- 10:51SPEAKER_03: They kind of tanked last year, although it was inadvertent.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: The results, not on purpose, not on purpose, not on purpose, but they inadvertently have a damn good team.
- 11:01SPEAKER_03: And I think it's a largely in part the fact that they had all these guys get trial by fire, and now they're all leaders on that team.
- 11:08SPEAKER_03: Will we ever see a model in college football where you see teams tank, maybe bench?
- 11:13SPEAKER_03: If they've got a starting quarterback who's like the best he can do is seven and five.
- 11:17SPEAKER_03: Um, we've got defensive back transfers, didn't really work out.
- 11:20SPEAKER_03: We can trot them out there, and maybe they won't give up the big play, but they're not really going to grow and develop much.
- 11:25SPEAKER_03: But we have this true freshman who's future.
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: Are we ever going to see a team?
- 11:29SPEAKER_03: Obviously, you can improve sports feel all the time, but you get the number one pick.
- 11:32SPEAKER_03: Like there's a clear incentive.
- 11:33SPEAKER_03: You get the top pick next draft.
- 11:34SPEAKER_03: College doesn't work that way.
- 11:36SPEAKER_03: Is there a world where we'll see some sort of college tanking, for lack of a better word, to project to just to to catapult them to the next year?
- 12:24SPEAKER_05: I don't know that you'll see it to the scale that you know it catches on and it's a trend, but I do think there's a lot of logic to doing it in certain spots.
- 12:33SPEAKER_05: Um, take the Florida Gators this year.
- 12:36SPEAKER_05: You know, if Graham Merce doesn't go down with an injury, they've got a big question on their hands.
- 12:40SPEAKER_05: Do we build to the future with DJ Lagway or do we continue to play Mertz with Billy Napier fighting for his job?
- 12:46SPEAKER_05: You've got to show the fans and the and the administration that you're thinking towards the future if it looks like your season's going very much downhill.
- 12:55SPEAKER_05: So I think in spots you'll see it.
- 12:56SPEAKER_05: I don't know that you can do that across the board.
- 12:58SPEAKER_05: There's also such a big difference in development when you talk about, you know, the alignment versus a quarterback.
- 13:05SPEAKER_05: Um, we've also se quarterbacks go in way too early and get shell-shocked and never recover from it because they're just thrown to the wolves and not ready.
- 13:13SPEAKER_05: Um, and I also think it, you know, it's by conference.
- 13:16SPEAKER_05: You know, would would Iowa State be in this situation?
- 13:19SPEAKER_05: Um, if they were in the SEC, if if they were in the Big Ten, I think the Big 12 kind of led itself to be a little more, it's not very good.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: A little easier to get into that kind of thing.
- 13:31SPEAKER_03: A little softer.
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: No, these are these are all good points.
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: I just can't help but think about Iowa State as this team that you know has what happened last year, like the crazy attrition they were supposed to deal with, and the positive results.
- 13:43SPEAKER_03: And with every team always looking for an answer, ex answer, especially for teams that are kind of have nots that don't have the massive NILs, the fertile recruiting ground, the you know, the boosters, the you know, the Phil Knights, Texas oil money guys, the world, they're all looking for an edge.
- 13:58SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, part of me wonders like, God, maybe you just trot out there 25 freshmen, you kind of succeed, they're gonna go three and nine this year.
- 14:05SPEAKER_03: But next year, all those guys are ready and they really can contribute in a meaningful way.
- 14:09SPEAKER_03: Go ahead.
- 14:10SPEAKER_05: So here's the funny thing about that is really bad teams do that every year because they have to, because they don't get good players and they're constantly trying to plug guys in.
- 14:20SPEAKER_05: I remember years at Tennessee where we just didn't have any option.
- 14:23SPEAKER_05: We had guys arrive on campus and we said, here's your starting offensive tackle spot, here's your jersey, go be the best that you can be.
- 14:30SPEAKER_05: And typically that doesn't work out that well because if you're not ready or if you're um uh just not a great player, you don't always you don't always grow and develop into a great player, if that makes sense, right?
- 14:45SPEAKER_05: Like just because you're getting playing time doesn't mean, I mean, in a lot of cases, maybe you develop a ton and you get much better, but sometimes you just don't.
- 14:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you just aren't that good.
- 14:54SPEAKER_03: And I think I think you'd also argue there's no um you might also might uh uh impede other people's development as well.
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: You might stunt their growth because you can't block this quarterback, can't throw this receiver have time to get open, this running back can't find holes.
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: Like there must there's a lot of that as well.
- 15:10SPEAKER_03: Um, it's just the cut this college football is changing so much so fast, and everyone's going to be looking for new ways to win, you know, whether it's different formations, these nutrition programs, the NIL, the like there's every program is always looking for an edge.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: And I wonder if there isn't something to be said for development.
- 15:27SPEAKER_03: So I'm not smart enough to figure it out to say right there.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: And obviously, as Mike wisely pointed out, there's a lot of holes in that kind of line of thinking.
- 15:34SPEAKER_03: But what Iowa State is doing this year, given what happened last year, it just I can't help but take notice of it and says what it means.
- 15:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:40SPEAKER_05: And I think it's kind of a perfect storm there.
- 15:42SPEAKER_05: And they do have good coaching, good development.
- 15:44SPEAKER_03: That helps too.
- 15:45SPEAKER_03: Mike Matt Campbell is a is one of the best coaches in college football that no one talks about really, doesn't get a lot of love.
- 15:49SPEAKER_03: So I think that's it's a really good point as well.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: Uh, very cool.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: Anything else before we jump into the week nine autopsy?
- 15:56SPEAKER_03: Let's dive in.
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: Uh let's do it.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: A lot of things happened in week nine.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: Let's go ahead and start with Wednesday.
- 16:09SPEAKER_03: Wednesday game that actually mattered.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: Liberty, five and oh, loses to 0 and 6.
- 16:15SPEAKER_03: Kennesaw State.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: Mike, they stormed the field twice.
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: Uh, they went out there, they realized they had one second left.
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: They didn't get them back off the field, and they came back.
- 16:23SPEAKER_03: This is Kennesaw's first win as an FPS program against an FPS program.
- 16:28SPEAKER_03: Could not come against at a better time.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: Obviously, against undefeated 6-0 Liberty in the CUSA conference, conference USA.
- 16:35SPEAKER_03: Um, honestly, I'm just a big Owl fan, you know, frankly.
- 16:38SPEAKER_03: They won.
- 16:39SPEAKER_03: I love seeing undefeated teams, I love seeing defeated teams get a win and undefeated teams go down.
- 16:44SPEAKER_03: And also, now don't they even talk about Liberty anymore?
- 16:46SPEAKER_03: You know, those there was a chance that they were gonna sit there at 11-0 at the end of the year, like, I guess we should put them in the playoffs.
- 16:52SPEAKER_05: We looked at their scheduled preseason and we said, Yeah, will they put an undefeated Liberty team in the college football playoff?
- 17:01SPEAKER_05: And now we don't have to have that conversation.
- 17:02SPEAKER_05: So I'm very thankful of the owls.
- 17:04SPEAKER_05: Um, well done.
- 17:06SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 17:06SPEAKER_05: Thank you for thank you for doing that and and taking that off of the uh out of the conversation loop.
- 17:12SPEAKER_03: Kennis all states in Georgia somewhere, is that right?
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: Um might as well be.
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: No, we'll call it Georgia anyway.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: Go owls.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: We're big fans.
- 17:20SPEAKER_03: Uh Thursday.
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: Uh only should I mention this game?
- 17:22SPEAKER_03: Uh uh Syracuse uh pit uh game.
- 17:25SPEAKER_03: Hey Mike, betting on Syracuse, bogey move.
- 17:29SPEAKER_03: Not great.
- 17:30SPEAKER_03: Uh bogey move, but court to common court through five picks.
- 17:33SPEAKER_03: Three of them were pick sixes.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: Um, a couple things.
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: One, the Mike Blitz by the week was just doomed from the get-go.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: Never had a chance on forces just you know, it just wasn't our week, and that's okay.
- 17:43SPEAKER_03: We'll we'll we'll put a new this one.
- 17:44SPEAKER_03: We're backing it's gonna be a lock.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: It's a week to week game.
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: We're probably gonna go.
- 17:47SPEAKER_03: Week to week, but Thursday was tough.
- 17:50SPEAKER_03: Um, obviously, Syracuse gave away that game and in spades, and the score reflected that.
- 17:55SPEAKER_03: I still don't think Pitt looks that good.
- 17:58SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm I'm not convinced by them.
- 18:00SPEAKER_03: Uh Syracuse is by far their best win, very, very soft schedule.
- 18:04SPEAKER_03: Monster game against SMU this week.
- 18:05SPEAKER_03: That should probably the second best game of the week.
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: So SMU Pitt.
- 18:08SPEAKER_03: Um, any pit or Syracuse thoughts Thursday night action?
- 18:11SPEAKER_05: Um, yeah, I just it was just a perfect storm scenario.
- 18:15SPEAKER_05: Kyle McCord played like the worst game of his career.
- 18:17SPEAKER_05: By far played well.
- 18:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean, Pitt played well, then their defense looked good.
- 18:22SPEAKER_05: Um, but I just don't think I think it was just one of those that this is college football moments.
- 18:26SPEAKER_05: Like you have these games that should be close, and a couple things go the wrong way, and it's just an avalanche.
- 18:33SPEAKER_05: And Pitt's good, better than I thought, but you know, uh we'll see.
- 18:39SPEAKER_05: I I'm not I'm still not sold.
- 18:41SPEAKER_03: They have SMU and at least Clemson, I think somebody else good coming down the stretch.
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: So they're gonna have.
- 18:46SPEAKER_03: I mean, I think I hate to say, but I think Pitt's got a loss, if not two or three on their schedule left.
- 18:50SPEAKER_03: But um, there ain't no.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: So you win your games, you shut everybody up, including us for now.
- 18:54SPEAKER_03: So good on you, Pitt.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: Uh, Nebraska at Iowa at Ohio State, Nebraska loses a heartbreaker, still not bull eligible, five and three.
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: There was a horrendous uh late call at the end of the game.
- 19:06SPEAKER_03: Water bottles and junk on reviews are really having a moment.
- 19:10SPEAKER_03: This is the second week in a row where fields have been absolutely bombed.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: Biggest takeaway for me is, and uh, I can't believe Ryan Day said it in the immediate press conference from my left of the game, is we can't run the ball.
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: Um, Nebraska's good.
- 19:23SPEAKER_03: Tony White's got a good defensive staff and decent personnel, four-star, three-star guys.
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: Ohio State has no excuse at home to be able to run the ball.
- 19:35SPEAKER_03: Can Ohio State do anything next week or in the playoffs or in the conversation, Oregon, if they can't run the ball on Nebraska?
- 19:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I don't know.
- 19:44SPEAKER_05: I mean, their offense is struggling.
- 19:48SPEAKER_05: Um, they're not hitting on the big plays like they usually do.
- 19:50SPEAKER_05: The defense still looks pretty salty.
- 19:53SPEAKER_05: Um, you know, I think Nebraska is still a good team.
- 19:57SPEAKER_05: Like we we know kind of who they are.
- 19:58SPEAKER_05: They're they're capable of upsets, they're a good team.
- 20:01SPEAKER_05: Rayola's still young, very hit or miss.
- 20:03SPEAKER_05: He didn't play his best game.
- 20:04SPEAKER_05: No, um, bigger picture.
- 20:07SPEAKER_05: You know, no, no one looks that great.
- 20:09SPEAKER_05: So, you know, Iowa State or Ohio State, you know, win, move on, maybe get a little bit better.
- 20:15SPEAKER_05: Uh, do I think they are the number four team in the country?
- 20:19SPEAKER_05: Uh, I don't think so.
- 20:21SPEAKER_03: You know, I funny the the knock on this team was the quarterback.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: The quarterback saved them, they were losing this game all the way to the very end.
- 20:26SPEAKER_03: He's the one who actually bailed them out.
- 20:28SPEAKER_03: Um, as another team with a good quarterback and a terrible run game, I gotta tell you, uh, Ryan Day, it's not getting better.
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: Um, and you're in real trouble.
- 20:37SPEAKER_03: I'm just gonna tell you right now.
- 20:38SPEAKER_03: Um, you've got a doozy in Happy Valley against a very good defensive front line.
- 20:43SPEAKER_03: I'm not sure if James Franklin can coach his way past you guys, but you're not going to ball this week either.
- 20:48SPEAKER_03: So um, we'll talk about that a little bit.
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: I just go ahead.
- 20:51SPEAKER_05: Looking at a big picture, I mean, this is not the Ohio State team of the last few years, like that much is very clear.
- 20:56SPEAKER_05: And so, you know, on paper, you know, we'll talk about this Penn State matchup, but I'd be a little bit scared if I were a Buckeye fan.
- 21:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you should be.
- 21:03SPEAKER_03: I just Trevor Henderson and Christian Judgins should have no problem running on Nebraska at home.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: I just those are fantastic running backs.
- 21:10SPEAKER_03: That's it.
- 21:11SPEAKER_03: That's in the story.
- 21:12SPEAKER_03: Like, you should be good on the ball.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: You're not uh moving on.
- 21:15SPEAKER_03: Uh BYU beat the brakes off of UCF.
- 21:17SPEAKER_03: This game opened up as UCF as a dog, moved to a favorite, got really trendy, not a problem.
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: BYU beat him by like three scores.
- 21:26SPEAKER_03: Um, still feel the eye test to me.
- 21:28SPEAKER_03: Obviously, they're beating everybody.
- 21:30SPEAKER_03: Shout out Jake Retzlaff for just continuing to deal.
- 21:32SPEAKER_03: Oh, he also chirped in the press game conference talking about the disrespect.
- 21:36SPEAKER_03: I think he even talked about the betting line in his like non-betting way, saying it, like not saying Vegas hates us, but he kind of said it.
- 21:42SPEAKER_03: Uh, so kudos to him for speaking up.
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: I have one statistic which is interesting to share.
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: I'll let you go first, though.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: Why is BYU any good?
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: Like, what are we looking at?
- 21:50SPEAKER_03: What do they do?
- 21:51SPEAKER_03: What is it, the thing?
- 21:52SPEAKER_05: I think it's just a combination of being a solid football team and not having the best, most talented competition.
- 22:01SPEAKER_05: And what you have is well coached, solid, you know, fundamentals, uh, a bunch of gym rats, uh, you know, love.
- 22:09SPEAKER_05: High motor guys, yeah, loves to be in the film room.
- 22:13SPEAKER_05: Um, yeah, I think, and and you're led by a fiery, you know, kind of a guy with a lot of moxie.
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: He's a good coach, too.
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:22SPEAKER_03: Um, I will I will find one statistic where I thought was actually uh incredibly revealing and it's really interesting.
- 22:27SPEAKER_03: Uh, did you know BYU is number two in the country in offensive turnover margin per game?
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: So, meaning when they get a turnover, they score points at a higher rate than lots of.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: You get a turnover, you end up fourth, four and out, punt, field goal, doesn't convert.
- 22:44SPEAKER_03: BYU is number two in the country at turning turnovers into points, 7.75 a game.
- 22:50SPEAKER_03: Number one is two lane, 8.13, and also a really good AAC well coach team.
- 22:55SPEAKER_03: So that actually made a lot of sense to me.
- 22:57SPEAKER_03: I'm like, oh, BYU lets teams make mistakes and they punish them accordingly.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: That's what really good football teams do, is they capitalize when given really good opportunities.
- 23:06SPEAKER_05: So, like well, and that's exactly what we just saw with Pitt.
- 23:09SPEAKER_05: I mean, a lot of times college football is not a always a go out there and win the game.
- 23:15SPEAKER_05: Sometimes it's just when someone's trying to give it to you, you take it and you bury them.
- 23:19SPEAKER_05: And that's exactly what Pitt did.
- 23:21SPEAKER_05: Like, if they're gonna make mistakes, you got to punish them for it.
- 23:23SPEAKER_05: And so, yeah, I guess BYU's really good at that.
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 23:27SPEAKER_03: Uh, I agree.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: Uh, Missouri is likely gonna go 10 and 2, even though they've got the brakes beaten off them at Alabama like 34.
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: Missouri is a paper.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: Missouri's butt.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: They should not be ranked.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: We've been that's my question.
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: Is Missouri the Liberty University of the SEC, Mike?
- 23:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they're they're not very good.
- 23:42SPEAKER_05: They're not a very good team, and they haven't been all year long.
- 23:44SPEAKER_05: They've been riding the the preseason hype, and it's gonna run out.
- 23:50SPEAKER_05: It's running out.
- 23:51SPEAKER_05: It should have run out already for most people, but for some reason they're lingering in the top 25.
- 23:55SPEAKER_03: Are they still ranked?
- 23:56SPEAKER_03: Oh, they're ranked 25 in the AP right now.
- 23:58SPEAKER_03: I'm pulling for the rest of their schedule.
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: Who do they have?
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: Who do they have left versus Oklahoma at home?
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: At South Carolina, at Mississippi State, Mississippi State versus Arkansas.
- 24:06SPEAKER_03: They're gonna lose one or two of those.
- 24:08SPEAKER_03: Um, I maybe Oklahoma this week, or no, they're on a bye this week at South Carolina with that defense, they might go nuts on them.
- 24:15SPEAKER_03: We'll see about that.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: South Carolina's still pretty much.
- 24:19SPEAKER_03: And Mississippi State all of a sudden has a little bit of offense.
- 24:21SPEAKER_03: I'm just saying, yeah, but they're pretty bad.
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: They're they're horrifying, they're horrendous.
- 24:24SPEAKER_03: They're one and seven, but they got their quarterback and they got their offensive coach.
- 24:27SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm I'm not saying Mississippi State's any good, but they're sit laying the foundation for they could take Missouri in a shootout for sure.
- 24:35SPEAKER_03: I wouldn't be surprised.
- 24:35SPEAKER_03: I wouldn't put it, I would not put it past them.
- 24:37SPEAKER_03: And the game is in Starkville, so they're gonna be it's gonna be loud as heck in there.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: We'll we'll talk about that game later.
- 24:41SPEAKER_03: But Missouri Paper Tiger, God, they lost as bad as they did.
- 24:44SPEAKER_03: Indiana is going to be fun to watch down the stretch.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: They are gonna mess up all kinds of things for the some Big Ten hopeful.
- 24:50SPEAKER_03: Is there a I'm there now also undefeated with some monster showdowns?
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: And they I think they still have Oregon and Ohio State or Michigan.
- 24:57SPEAKER_03: They've got a couple good games, can't remember where they are on the top of my head.
- 24:59SPEAKER_03: I know they have at least Ohio State.
- 25:01SPEAKER_03: Is there a hotter coach than Kirk Signetti this season?
- 25:04SPEAKER_03: Like, is there any?
- 25:05SPEAKER_03: He's got to be a runaway favorite for coach of the year at this point.
- 25:08SPEAKER_03: Who do you like?
- 25:09SPEAKER_03: Mike Elko.
- 25:10SPEAKER_03: Ooh, tell me about that.
- 25:11SPEAKER_03: What why do you like Elka more than you like Signetti?
- 25:13SPEAKER_05: Well, I think the ceiling is higher for what AM can do this year versus, I mean, I agree.
- 25:20SPEAKER_05: Signetti's right there.
- 25:22SPEAKER_05: Um, AM is in a prime spot right now.
- 25:24SPEAKER_05: They're they're leading, you know, they're undefeated in an SEC play.
- 25:28SPEAKER_05: Um, so yeah, I mean, if we're gonna throw a name out there, I like Mike Elka.
- 25:33SPEAKER_03: I like him a lot too.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: Obviously, I hate him right in this moment, given what he did to my Tigers, but obviously him stepping in year one with what he inherited, delivering being the only five-o team in the SEC, like that's that's highly commendable.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: NBN down the stretch is at Michigan State versus Michigan, at Ohio State versus Purdue.
- 25:49SPEAKER_03: If Signetti goes 11-1 or 12-0, you got to give to him, right?
- 25:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:56SPEAKER_05: I'm just saying for argument's sake, um, yeah, he's done a fantastic job, and there should be three wins left in the regular season for them, maybe four.
- 26:05SPEAKER_05: So nice.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: Uh, I don't know what's gonna happen with Oklahoma, but they're clearly getting better on offense.
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: Uh, they lost to Mississippi State, I think it was 26-14.
- 26:13SPEAKER_03: They put it back to Jackson Arnold, Michael Hawkins, uh very electric freshman.
- 26:18SPEAKER_03: He's got a hot lot of ceiling, but he's clearly not ready yet.
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: Um, he had a decent day.
- 26:21SPEAKER_03: Arnold went 22 for 31 for 185 and two touchdowns.
- 26:25SPEAKER_03: Oklahoma's this year is a wash.
- 26:26SPEAKER_03: I know this is year three, and boomer sooner is bad.
- 26:30SPEAKER_03: I like them a lot next year.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: Their defense is gonna be real good next year.
- 26:34SPEAKER_03: They're gonna get all those hurt receivers.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: This is this is the Iowa State effect, Mike I'm gonna say I'm calling my shot right now.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: Oklahoma is gonna be the Iowa State of 2023, 24, 25.
- 26:43SPEAKER_03: They're gonna get all those offensive linemen back.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: They started five broken in five new offensive lines this year, all those skill position guys, Jackson Arnold, first year under center.
- 26:51SPEAKER_03: They are a big bounce back.
- 26:52SPEAKER_03: Here's my question for you.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: So you're I kind of I kind of give you my answer.
- 26:56SPEAKER_03: Other than Florida State, who do you like for a huge bounce back in 2025?
- 27:01SPEAKER_03: Oof.
- 27:03SPEAKER_05: Put me on the spot.
- 27:04SPEAKER_05: Who do I like for a big bounce back?
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: Um Oklahoma State, uh, is Mississippi State's out there, maybe Michigan.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Michigan, Utah is an option.
- 27:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah, just Michigan's got a lot of talent.
- 27:14SPEAKER_05: I think that um they they kind of had it, it had an off year.
- 27:16SPEAKER_05: I don't huge bounce back.
- 27:18SPEAKER_05: I don't think they're gonna win a natty next year, but I think they're gonna have a much better year, respectable year, be dangerous again for sure.
- 27:25SPEAKER_03: I think they're I think I think that's it's a good option.
- 27:27SPEAKER_03: I think they'll probably go back to a double-digit win or flirt with double-digit wins.
- 27:30SPEAKER_03: They're gonna finish like six and six this year.
- 27:32SPEAKER_03: I mean, they're gonna get to a bowl because they beat Michigan State.
- 27:34SPEAKER_03: They're probably gonna beat Nebraska, and then they're gonna lose the other three to Oregon, um, Indiana.
- 27:39SPEAKER_03: They have a brutal schedule.
- 27:40SPEAKER_03: Michigan's got some some doozies.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: I think they think they've got Oregon, Ohio State, and Indiana.
- 27:44SPEAKER_03: So probably at the loose, right, at least right now, three losses.
- 27:48SPEAKER_03: But next year, they're gonna get a quarterback.
- 27:50SPEAKER_03: They're going to have some semblance of vertical passing game.
- 27:52SPEAKER_03: And I'm pretty confident still be able to run the ball and play defense.
- 27:54SPEAKER_03: So you got Michigan, I'll take Oklahoma for your early.
- 27:57SPEAKER_05: I also see like Auburn making a big bounce back.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: We're gonna talk about that later because you are bearish on Auburn, and I am not.
- 28:04SPEAKER_03: They're playing it, they gotta they got a doozy with Vanderbilt this week.
- 28:07SPEAKER_03: I'm I'll tell you why I like that.
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: I still think, yeah, but I'm talking, I'm talking big picture.
- 28:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know, Q Freeze, I believe in.
- 28:14SPEAKER_05: I think Auburn's always gonna recruit, they've got the backing they need.
- 28:17SPEAKER_05: I mean, he yeah, I think next year they bounce back big time.
- 28:20SPEAKER_05: I think I'm actually surprised they're as bad as they are this year.
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: Me, well, if you look at the I'm I'm gonna give some things away that we're we talk about the Auburn Vanderbilt game.
- 28:27SPEAKER_03: If you look at some of the games this year, they shouldn't have lost the Missouri game, they shouldn't have lost the Cal game.
- 28:31SPEAKER_03: Remember that game back in September?
- 28:32SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 28:32SPEAKER_03: Um, and they shouldn't have lost Missouri Cal was the other one.
- 28:35SPEAKER_03: Um uh Oklahoma, the crazy Oklahoma pick six.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: I mean, Peyton Thorne, that was his best game, and he had one bad, bad decision.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: Like, my point is is like I know they're three and five, they're not that far from like five and three or six and two, frankly.
- 28:48SPEAKER_03: Um, other thing, other reason I really like Auburn is if you look at their blue chip ratio, blue chip ratio is the percentage of your players on your roster that are a four or five star.
- 28:56SPEAKER_03: And generally speaking, a team's with like a 60% or higher have won the last like 27 national championships, frankly.
- 29:04SPEAKER_03: Like it means it means that your team has talent.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: Auburn's like right there, they have a ton of talent on the team.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: Same with Florida, same with Florida, and and the class coming in is really, really good.
- 29:13SPEAKER_03: Auburn is a great, great team, great I choice for a bounce back team just because it's of the inf influx of talent that's gonna um lift them up.
- 29:24SPEAKER_03: Speaking of teams that are already insanely talented, but might not be that good.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: Is it time to reasonably downgrade Texas?
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: Survived a kind of a mediocre performance against Vandy, got the brakes beaten off them by Georgia in Austin.
- 29:37SPEAKER_03: Their best win is Colorado State, Oklahoma, Michigan.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: They're looking, they're looking suspect.
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: Can we reasonably?
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: I mean, I'm way I am way off the hype of Texas three weeks ago, but like now it's time to push them.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: Are they in top five for you right now?
- 29:55SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, I still think they are.
- 29:58SPEAKER_05: I think um I actually I I kind of go the other way.
- 30:02SPEAKER_05: It gives me more respect for what Vandy is doing and tells me that you know, when you have these these massive upsets, usually you can put that on the better team being off their game.
- 30:16SPEAKER_05: And in this case, I just think Vanderbilt is a solid team to have to play every week.
- 30:21SPEAKER_05: And this was on the road uh for Texas, and I just think that it's probably uh somewhere in the middle between those things.
- 30:28SPEAKER_05: Texas is still a really good team.
- 30:29SPEAKER_05: I still really believe in them, but I it really just gave me more respect for what Bandy's doing.
- 30:34SPEAKER_03: Big Diego Pavia guy over there.
- 30:36SPEAKER_03: Uh I appreciate that.
- 30:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean he's played, he's been incredible.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's been nails.
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: The touchdown throw, do you see that there's a touchdown throw like late in the third quarter that was through like a fourth down?
- 30:45SPEAKER_03: Like, I don't know how that ball wasn't deflected out of bounds like seven times.
- 30:49SPEAKER_05: The fact that it never left more than like a foot and a half off the ground.
- 30:53SPEAKER_05: It's like a line drive, uh double play ball or something.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: I had to watch it a couple times after the fact.
- 31:01SPEAKER_03: I'm like, how did that ball get from Diego Pavy's hands to the receiver's hands without like there was some space-time continuum situation, but he got through.
- 31:09SPEAKER_03: So uh respect for Vandy.
- 31:11SPEAKER_03: Uh Baylor is quietly taking care of business now, four and four.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: They lost that ridiculous one on the Hail Mary to Colorado.
- 31:18SPEAKER_03: They probably should be five and three, if not better.
- 31:20SPEAKER_03: They got off uh Finn, who just didn't work out quarterback.
- 31:23SPEAKER_03: They switched to Sawyer Robinson.
- 31:24SPEAKER_03: Um, Dave Aranda, Baylor, uh sorry, Robertson.
- 31:28SPEAKER_03: They have quietly put it together.
- 31:29SPEAKER_03: Their last four games are against teams that are 500 or worse.
- 31:33SPEAKER_03: Baylor is gonna go eight and four.
- 31:34SPEAKER_03: The only reason I'm telling you any of this, I'm just gonna give you a little flowers.
- 31:37SPEAKER_03: We were we we thought our randa take was bad.
- 31:41SPEAKER_03: It might not be that bad.
- 31:42SPEAKER_03: Aranda might in fact be that guy.
- 31:44SPEAKER_03: I'm just saying.
- 31:44SPEAKER_05: We're back, we're back on Aranda.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: This is the thing I've learned from doing this with you for four years now.
- 31:49SPEAKER_03: If we have a bad take, just wait a while.
- 31:51SPEAKER_03: It might get better again.
- 31:53SPEAKER_05: That's true, and that's also college football for you because these teams change so rapidly.
- 31:57SPEAKER_05: I mean, we're talking about half to half.
- 32:00SPEAKER_05: I mean, look at what look at what Bama did to Georgia in the first half, and they haven't done it since, except they touched on a little bit in this Missouri game.
- 32:10SPEAKER_05: But yeah, I mean, it's it's literally things can change so quickly.
- 32:13SPEAKER_03: It's true.
- 32:14SPEAKER_03: Uh, Utah loses again, just another just unbelievable loss.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: Other than Florida State, are they the most disappointing team this year?
- 32:21SPEAKER_03: They'll listen to this.
- 32:22SPEAKER_03: They're good, they might go four and eight.
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: Their last four games versus BYU at Colorado versus Iowa State at UCF, which just fired the defensive coordinator, so they might give a little shot in the arm.
- 32:34SPEAKER_03: They don't do anything well.
- 32:35SPEAKER_03: And Kyle Winningham is a great coach.
- 32:38SPEAKER_03: I kind of think they're gonna move on from Kyle Winningham and Cam rising this year.
- 32:42SPEAKER_03: I think we're seeing a Utah thing.
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: Other than Florida State, are they the most disappointing team for you in the this year?
- 32:48SPEAKER_03: And there's some options: NC State, Kentucky, Okee State, Kansas, Michigan, App State, if you want a G5 little flair.
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: Who's the most disappointing team for you other than Florida State?
- 32:58SPEAKER_05: Um, yeah, Florida State's got to be up there.
- 33:00SPEAKER_05: I think Michigan coming off the national championship.
- 33:02SPEAKER_05: Nobody saw that coming.
- 33:03SPEAKER_05: Like nobody saw that coming.
- 33:05SPEAKER_05: Uh, so Michigan, Utah, I mean, I wouldn't put Utah up there just because the expectations are never going to be to the level of a Michigan at Florida State, right?
- 33:14SPEAKER_05: Like preseason expectations, like they're always going to be solid, but it's just not the same.
- 33:19SPEAKER_05: That big brand name means a lot.
- 33:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and we expected to have their quarterback, and they did not.
- 33:23SPEAKER_03: They did not have a course, the starting quarterback for another year.
- 33:25SPEAKER_03: So there's that as well.
- 33:27SPEAKER_05: Your starting quarterback does in fact matter.
- 33:29SPEAKER_03: It does, it does.
- 33:30SPEAKER_03: Um, and then you know, I would so I would I think I agree with you.
- 33:34SPEAKER_03: I think I would say probably Kentucky or Kansas, you know, Jalen Daniels is an awesome quarterback, and Lance Lipold's great coach has not worked out in Lawrence.
- 33:41SPEAKER_03: Kentucky.
- 33:42SPEAKER_03: I was on preseason propping up Brock Vandergrift.
- 33:45SPEAKER_03: Man, was I wrong about it?
- 33:47SPEAKER_05: And yeah, well, and they they had a new offensive coordinator coming in.
- 33:49SPEAKER_05: Everyone kind of had them as a dark horse to to make a run in the SEC, just has not worked out.
- 33:54SPEAKER_03: No, and I actually think he's gonna be the SEC coach, at least the first SEC coach fired this year.
- 33:59SPEAKER_03: I think stoops.
- 34:00SPEAKER_03: We all thought it was gonna be Napier.
- 34:01SPEAKER_03: It still might be.
- 34:02SPEAKER_03: I actually think it's gonna be Stoops.
- 34:03SPEAKER_05: Um, which is incredible to think about because he's he's their he's their best coach of all time, highest winning percentage, most wins.
- 34:10SPEAKER_05: He led them to a 10-win season like two years ago, and now they're off.
- 34:14SPEAKER_05: This is like the same thing that happened to Sam Pittman in Arkansas.
- 34:17SPEAKER_05: You lead them to the best year they've had in like a decade, and then two years later, three years later, everyone's talking about firing you.
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: You know, they've raised expectations.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: Um, they're in big trouble.
- 34:27SPEAKER_03: NC State, obviously, Grayson McCall didn't work out.
- 34:29SPEAKER_03: We saw them in person, they looked really, really bad.
- 34:32SPEAKER_03: I think you and I pegged NC State for an eight-nine winner this year, frankly.
- 34:35SPEAKER_03: And they're gonna, we're not gonna make a bowl.
- 34:37SPEAKER_03: Um, so I think they're way up there.
- 34:38SPEAKER_03: Okie Oklahoma State, I mean, Mike Gundy's one of the best coaches in college football.
- 34:42SPEAKER_03: Ollie Gordon was a running back you and I both loved a lot.
- 34:45SPEAKER_03: They just nothing.
- 34:46SPEAKER_03: So there's lots of good options out there.
- 34:48SPEAKER_05: And the NC State and the Oklahoma State situations are a little more unexplainable.
- 34:54SPEAKER_05: Like they didn't have anybody go down, they had all the pieces coming back.
- 34:58SPEAKER_05: Um, that just falls squarely on the head coach to figure that out.
- 35:03SPEAKER_05: I because I can't do it.
- 35:05unknown: Yeah.
- 35:05SPEAKER_03: Uh SMU was my favorite bet of the week as SMU minus 11.
- 35:10SPEAKER_03: They gave up six turnovers and needed a black field goal to beat Duke in overtime.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: Um, I just I want to say, my bad, that was a bet I really felt good about.
- 35:22SPEAKER_03: I'm still really high on SMU, and they needed a miracle to um escape Durham.
- 35:28SPEAKER_03: Did you watch any of the?
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: Did you get any any of the SMU?
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: Go ahead.
- 35:31SPEAKER_05: I did see, and you know, I'm gonna kind of I'm gonna kind of look at it on the flip side of that because anytime you can walk away with a win after turning the ball over six times, it's pretty incredible.
- 35:40SPEAKER_05: Like you have to be a pretty good team just to pull that off.
- 35:43SPEAKER_05: You know, I look at turnovers in a situation like that, a lot more fluky, a lot less indicative of like the caliber of your team.
- 35:50SPEAKER_05: Um, they survived just a crazy streak of unluckiness, I guess, is what I'm saying.
- 35:57SPEAKER_05: I mean, it's kind of incredible.
- 35:59SPEAKER_05: Uh I I still don't think they're like a fantastic team, but it does tell me a little something about them um to come away and and find a way to get that to get that win.
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, Duke is six and two, and SMU is now seven and one.
- 36:13SPEAKER_03: Their only loss being the BYU, which actually is a is a has a loss that has aged like a fine wine.
- 36:19SPEAKER_03: So you got that going for them.
- 36:20SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, Duke's six and two, sitting at two and two in conference.
- 36:23SPEAKER_03: They've got some meat coming down the schedule.
- 36:25SPEAKER_03: They've got Miami at NC State, which I'm high on, and versus Virginia Tech.
- 36:29SPEAKER_03: So they probably have some losses coming starting uh this week at uh at Miami.
- 36:35SPEAKER_03: Uh, very cool.
- 36:35SPEAKER_03: All right, let's move on to where are we now?
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: Then let's to Homers.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech, no Hanes King, no problem for the Hokies.
- 36:44SPEAKER_03: Hokies beat the crap out of them.
- 36:45SPEAKER_03: Way to take care of business and pressive defensive performance, even for a wounded Georgia Tech with no quarterback.
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: Mike, is eight and four the floor for Virginia Tech?
- 36:54SPEAKER_03: They're they're sitting go ahead.
- 36:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I think we're we're starting to see them kind of round into the form that we thought they would be at.
- 37:01SPEAKER_05: They they they're they play better and better each week, they're taking care of business.
- 37:06SPEAKER_05: Um, I'm yeah, I'm impressed with them.
- 37:08SPEAKER_05: They are they're a good football team, they are a good football team.
- 37:13SPEAKER_03: Um, they uh the the Georgia Tech score was 21 to 6.
- 37:16SPEAKER_03: We didn't have a chance.
- 37:17SPEAKER_03: Haynes King is Georgia Tech quarterback, he was out.
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: There really wasn't much to do.
- 37:20SPEAKER_03: Kyron Jones, 60 to 27, 120 yards and touchdown.
- 37:23SPEAKER_03: Michelle Toot, another great day, 17 for 80 yards.
- 37:25SPEAKER_03: And the defense, anytime you hold another conference opponent to six points, you just gotta feel good by yourself.
- 37:30SPEAKER_03: So I recognize even though you beat a wounded wounded Georgia Tech, this is another week of Virginia Tech picking up momentum.
- 37:36SPEAKER_03: So the second half of Miami game, it's just gotten better and better for them.
- 37:40SPEAKER_03: Stanford win obviously helped.
- 37:42SPEAKER_03: There was great uh Boston College convincing win.
- 37:44SPEAKER_03: Um, Georgia Tech, they get um they're going at Syracuse this weekend.
- 37:49SPEAKER_03: Like we're starting to see what we thought Virginia Tech was gonna be, even though after the first month of football, they were two and three.
- 37:56SPEAKER_04: So yeah, it really sets up a sneaky good matchup in two weeks against uh well, yeah.
- 38:01SPEAKER_04: Is that two weeks?
- 38:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, two weeks in, yeah.
- 38:05SPEAKER_03: Especially if they are the frauds that maybe I think they might be, but we'll talk about that in a little bit.
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: So uh kudos to the uh Hokies for that.
- 38:13SPEAKER_03: UNC at UVA, they had to have it, Mike.
- 38:16SPEAKER_03: The Wahoos had to have it.
- 38:18SPEAKER_03: They did not.
- 38:19SPEAKER_03: I don't know how to sugar sugarcoat it.
- 38:20SPEAKER_03: They got sliced up at home by UNC's third string quarterback.
- 38:23SPEAKER_03: Lamarian Hampton, the running back, is still awesome.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: He was a preseason All-American, so obviously he got his.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: UVA had no answer in a game they had to have in year three of Tony Elliott to get to a bowl, which I really thought they were.
- 38:35SPEAKER_03: I thought they were gonna win this game and eke one out later somewhere else.
- 38:38SPEAKER_03: Their dogs in every game down the stretch.
- 38:41SPEAKER_03: I think they're gonna lose all four of them.
- 38:42SPEAKER_03: Maybe they'll beat Virginia Tech, maybe.
- 38:44SPEAKER_03: I don't, I what's what's your UVA prognosis?
- 38:48SPEAKER_05: I'm like thoroughly disgusted with with UVA and their performance.
- 38:53SPEAKER_05: The tar Heels are a straight up bad football team, and UVA's kind of been trending in the right direction.
- 38:59SPEAKER_05: I really thought that this was um a good time for them to catch a bad North Carolina team.
- 39:05SPEAKER_05: And they they just they're I I underestimated uh how bad UVA truly is, I guess.
- 39:13SPEAKER_05: Those were two bad teams out there.
- 39:14SPEAKER_03: Their next four games at Pitt, at Notre Dame, versus SMU, they get SMU at home, and then at Virginia Tech.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: They're gonna be at least a touchdown dog, I think, in all of them.
- 39:25SPEAKER_03: So I hate to say it, but you know, I and Tony Elliott does get a pass for year one given the horrific tragedy, but it just I don't know what you do.
- 39:34SPEAKER_03: It's sitting sitting sitting on the bail at four and eight.
- 39:37SPEAKER_03: Do you think they fire him this year?
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: Do you think it's another year?
- 39:40SPEAKER_05: I still think he probably gets another year.
- 39:42SPEAKER_05: I think last year he got a pass for, so it gives him um gives them another year for sure.
- 39:48SPEAKER_03: Okay, we'll see.
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: LSU, Texas AM, game of the week.
- 39:51SPEAKER_03: What a collapse! First half was amazing.
- 39:53SPEAKER_03: If you turned your TV off at halftime, you were the happiest LSU fan ever.
- 39:57SPEAKER_03: If you turn it off the second half, it was the worst.
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: Um, LSU goes down, Virginia Tech, uh, sorry, Texas AM, uh, I think it was final score, was 38 to 23.
- 40:05SPEAKER_03: We were lending winning 17-7 and a half.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: Uh, the story is really simple.
- 40:10SPEAKER_03: Uh, they played Connor Wagman, the five-star quarterback, and LSU got after him, sacked him a whole bunch of times.
- 40:16SPEAKER_03: They had no answer.
- 40:17SPEAKER_03: Mike Elko, being the good coach that he is, and you were talking about him with some many earlier, went to Marcel Reed, their dual threat guy, and we had no response.
- 40:25SPEAKER_03: Uh, Greg Penn, our senior linebacker, literally said in postgame, we were we did not plan to play him.
- 40:30SPEAKER_03: We had no plan for him.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: Um, no run game.
- 40:34SPEAKER_03: Garrett Nussmeyer dropped back 50 times.
- 40:38SPEAKER_03: Um, he threw two touchdowns, three touchdowns, and also threw three interceptions.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: That was the first time I've seen him rattled all year.
- 40:44SPEAKER_03: Um, it's not that we lost.
- 40:46SPEAKER_03: You know, if you told me a month ago you're gonna go three and one in this stretch, um, I would have taken it.
- 40:52SPEAKER_03: And but to lose the game the way we did, to be ahead, to be so dominant in college station, just hurts.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: Um, what was your AM LSU thoughts?
- 41:04SPEAKER_05: Um, yeah, to me, this game was a lot like a lot like the the pit game that we were talking about, in that when things started, when the field started to tip in one direction, all it did was tip more.
- 41:18SPEAKER_05: There was no settling down from LSU, uh, who was in control of the game early.
- 41:23SPEAKER_05: They let the crowd kind of swallow him up.
- 41:25SPEAKER_05: The moment looked too big for Nessmeyer.
- 41:27SPEAKER_05: He was making it was almost like he was trying to be a hero when all he needed to do was make a few plays and settle things down.
- 41:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and um the defense did not help him out when he made mistakes.
- 41:38SPEAKER_05: And you know, Marcel Reed looked like Mike Vick out there, unstoppable.
- 41:43SPEAKER_05: He's really good, but he's he's not as good as they made him look.
- 41:47SPEAKER_03: No, he's not he's not he really is not that good, but we certainly made him look down.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: That was my feeling as well.
- 41:52SPEAKER_03: I just we had our our our offensive, our run block scheme is is a disaster, it just does not work.
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: We have good offensive linemen, we have really good running backs, we have aliens out wide.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: We should be they should be dropping safeties to defend them.
- 42:06SPEAKER_03: There should be plenty of running lanes, we can't do it.
- 42:08SPEAKER_03: So, what I think happened was Nussmeyer knew this rightfully, and he said to himself, I have to do everything.
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: And that's when he started pushing balls where he shouldn't have, making his second and third interceptions were particularly bad.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: Um, they were just balls that he shouldn't have thrown.
- 42:23SPEAKER_03: And that if I think that if he thought he didn't have to do that, he wouldn't have.
- 42:27SPEAKER_03: I also, and this is a super homer take, I'm just gonna say it.
- 42:30SPEAKER_03: It's my show.
- 42:30SPEAKER_03: This is Homer time.
- 42:31SPEAKER_03: We we're not, we're not, we're not, we're not shy.
- 42:33SPEAKER_03: I think LSU wins that game if we're at home, you know.
- 42:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the crowd doesn't get into it.
- 42:38SPEAKER_03: Um, we get a little more spark out of the defense.
- 42:41SPEAKER_03: Uh, you know, we're just it the Kyle Field was electric.
- 42:45SPEAKER_03: You see on television, like it was a bet.
- 42:46SPEAKER_03: I hate to give them they give them flat so much flowers for rattling our team, but they obviously did.
- 42:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and that's I mean, this was again just another prime example of what makes college football so weird and so fun and so heartbreaking at times.
- 42:58SPEAKER_05: Um, I'll also I also think that they should have been prepared for Marcel Reid.
- 43:04SPEAKER_05: It's not like he has been an unknown factor.
- 43:07SPEAKER_05: He's played in four or five games this year.
- 43:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he's and he he didn't look that great in those games, actually.
- 43:14SPEAKER_05: Um, so you know he only had to throw the ball twice for and you know, he hit that one big bomb.
- 43:19SPEAKER_05: Um, it was just kind of a calamity of theirs mixed with the perfect storm for uh AM to come out on top.
- 43:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean Arkansas gave him everything he could handle in that game.
- 43:30SPEAKER_03: They Texan won that game, but Arkansas was right there with him toe-to-toe at the very end.
- 43:34SPEAKER_03: So, no, I Marcel Reed showed up, played hero.
- 43:38SPEAKER_03: He will be a legend at college station for his life for what he did to us that half.
- 43:42SPEAKER_03: But I don't think he's that good, and I don't think when he faces better better teams that are gonna be prepared, better prepared than LSU was, especially out of the comfy confines of Carl Kyle Fields.
- 43:51SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm I'm skeptical that he'll be able to do that again.
- 43:54SPEAKER_03: But uh, you know, the games are played for 60 minutes, and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and we lost.
- 43:59SPEAKER_03: So that's okay.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: LSU goes into a bye this week, and you know, if anything, if what makes me feel better, the only thing that really makes me feel better is that if we win out, we're still in.
- 44:08SPEAKER_03: We got four SEC SEC games left.
- 44:10SPEAKER_03: If we win all four of them, which is a toll order.
- 44:13SPEAKER_03: I'm I don't, I'm not sure that we will.
- 44:14SPEAKER_03: Um, we're 10 and 2, so our season's not over yet.
- 44:17SPEAKER_03: So we'll see.
- 44:18SPEAKER_05: I think I think you turn into a big USC Trojan fan down the stretch.
- 44:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that would really need them.
- 44:24SPEAKER_05: You know, you need them to look decent.
- 44:27SPEAKER_05: Yes, because that loss is not looking so far right.
- 44:30SPEAKER_03: They're sitting at four and four.
- 44:31SPEAKER_03: I'll be honest with you.
- 44:32SPEAKER_03: I should look, I did that in part of my grieving on Sunday.
- 44:34SPEAKER_03: I looked at their schedule the rest of the way.
- 44:36SPEAKER_03: I'm like, how bad?
- 44:37SPEAKER_03: And they're gonna win at least three.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: They're going to be a seven and five or eight and four team.
- 44:41SPEAKER_03: So it won't be like a catastrophic loss, but it doesn't look as good as we needed it to look.
- 44:47SPEAKER_03: Um, obviously.
- 44:48SPEAKER_03: And I'll but I also think AM, I think they're gonna win every game or potentially up until uh the Texas showdown in week 11.
- 44:54SPEAKER_05: So that'll so getting ahead of ourselves just a bit, I could see a world where that outcome of that Texas and Texas AM game hardly even matters.
- 45:03SPEAKER_05: I think we get to a point in the end of the season where they're looking at that game and they're saying both of these teams are in, regardless.
- 45:11SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 45:12SPEAKER_05: That would be my fear.
- 45:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:14SPEAKER_03: Um this is like this this is what we were thought was gonna happen to the to the to the Ohio State Michigan game.
- 45:19SPEAKER_03: It's like, oh, they're gonna play again and then again the week after, and then again the week after.
- 45:22SPEAKER_03: Well, let me tell you, folks, they're not gonna do that.
- 45:24SPEAKER_03: But Texas Texas AM might.
- 45:27SPEAKER_05: Well, it and it's not even so much there's a lot of things that have to happen around them, but if Texas AM wins out and then they and their only losses at the last regular season game to Texas, who ends up going to play for the SEC championship?
- 45:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah, probably just because the timing of that loss, yeah, it probably doesn't hurt them at all.
- 45:44SPEAKER_03: No, yeah, and Texas AM is clearly in the driver's seat.
- 45:47SPEAKER_03: They are one of the, I don't know, probably five or six uh SEC teams that are still live for the playoff.
- 45:52SPEAKER_03: Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, AM, LSU.
- 45:55SPEAKER_03: Maybe Ole Miss, although Ole Miss has some doozies coming down.
- 45:58SPEAKER_03: You're probably looking to those are probably the only six teams that are realistically capable of still making this weekend.
- 46:04SPEAKER_05: Ole Miss goes to South Carolina, and the spread is, I believe, two and a half.
- 46:08SPEAKER_03: AM AM goes to South Carolina.
- 46:10SPEAKER_05: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 46:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, all is all Ole Miss Ev.
- 46:12SPEAKER_05: Uh, I can't remember.
- 46:13SPEAKER_05: I think that must be.
- 46:14SPEAKER_05: Somebody in the spread is it's it's a short spread, I think.
- 46:17SPEAKER_03: Very cool.
- 46:17SPEAKER_03: Well, actually, you know what?
- 46:18SPEAKER_03: It's we're we're here, it's time to talk about.
- 46:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, let's go ahead and jump into the week.
- 46:23SPEAKER_03: Uh, look up the old miss, see who they're playing.
- 46:24SPEAKER_03: I'll we'll start uh intro in games.
- 46:26SPEAKER_03: Uh week 10 preview.
- 46:28SPEAKER_03: You know, it's actually not a not the not the craziest of weeks.
- 46:31SPEAKER_03: There aren't that many headliners, but there's still plenty of stuff to uh talk about.
- 46:34SPEAKER_03: LSU and UVA are on a buy.
- 46:36SPEAKER_03: So only two homers this week.
- 46:38SPEAKER_03: Let's start with the headliner, which actually it's gonna be the first game you watch because it's it's on noon on Saturday.
- 46:42SPEAKER_03: It's a it's a noon banger, which you don't always get.
- 46:45SPEAKER_03: Uh number four, Ohio State, um at number three, Penn State.
- 46:50SPEAKER_03: Ohio State is a four and a half point spread.
- 46:52SPEAKER_03: At least they were last time I checked.
- 46:54SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna look again, make sure that's make sure that's still true.
- 46:57SPEAKER_03: Um, this is a weird game because Ohio State looks super vulnerable, and they have for a while now, but James Franklin just doesn't win these games.
- 47:07SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, it's gonna be Happy Valley, it's the defense is gonna travel.
- 47:12SPEAKER_03: I think Penn State's gonna run the ball well, but just James Franklin.
- 47:16SPEAKER_03: This is this game for me, is uh these two coaches should have been should be better bowl.
- 47:20SPEAKER_03: That's what I was kind of described this game at.
- 47:22SPEAKER_03: What do you got?
- 47:22SPEAKER_03: Uh give me your Penn State Ohio State thoughts.
- 47:24SPEAKER_05: I I actually think that this is kind of Penn State's time.
- 47:27SPEAKER_05: I think this is the time for them to get over the hump.
- 47:30SPEAKER_05: It's a if this was an away game for them, if this was in at the horseshoe, I you know, I probably don't think that.
- 47:36SPEAKER_05: I think but I think that Penn State wins this one, and I think they win it in a low-scoring kind of classic Big Ten rock fight, but I think they get it done with defense.
- 47:44SPEAKER_05: And they've got the bigger, uh I say it again for Penn State.
- 47:47SPEAKER_05: They've got more big playability, more explosive shots, more potential for those explosive plays, game-changing plays, and they've got a good enough defense.
- 47:56SPEAKER_05: I think this game, Ohio State kind of gets exposed even more so than they they did against Nebraska.
- 48:01SPEAKER_03: I think this game is gonna look exactly like the LSU Texas AM game.
- 48:04SPEAKER_03: I think Ohio State's not gonna be able to run the ball, and I think Penn State's gonna have the crowds, can be rowdy as heck, they're gonna get a bunch of stops, they're gonna count on Will Howard to get back there and get them back in this game.
- 48:13SPEAKER_03: And I just don't know that he's capable of doing it.
- 48:16SPEAKER_03: I got Penn State winning this as well.
- 48:17SPEAKER_03: We're we're we're not we're skipping the points, we're taking the money line on this.
- 48:20SPEAKER_03: Is that what I'm hearing?
- 48:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:22SPEAKER_03: All right, sweet.
- 48:23SPEAKER_03: Penn State money line.
- 48:24SPEAKER_03: Give me that.
- 48:25SPEAKER_03: Give me that money line.
- 48:25SPEAKER_03: All right, that's that's that's plus 150.
- 48:27SPEAKER_03: So we'll skip the points.
- 48:29SPEAKER_03: It's actually moved down to three and a half.
- 48:30SPEAKER_03: So Vegas actually agrees with a little bit.
- 48:32SPEAKER_03: The spreads been at a three and a half, but we're taking Penn State outright.
- 48:35SPEAKER_03: Heck yeah, love it.
- 48:36SPEAKER_03: Great start to the uh Mike Blitz bet of the week, parlay.
- 48:39SPEAKER_03: Um, moving on, uh, Louisville at number 11, Clemson.
- 48:43SPEAKER_03: Clemson is a 11-point favorite.
- 48:44SPEAKER_03: Over under is 61 and a half.
- 48:46SPEAKER_03: They are calling for a lot of points.
- 48:48SPEAKER_03: I really wish this game was in Papa John Stadium, wherever they play, and uh in Louisville, Kentucky.
- 48:53SPEAKER_03: It's game's at um Clemson Stadium.
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: Clemson's wins are all bad.
- 48:59SPEAKER_03: We already talked about this.
- 49:00SPEAKER_03: They're all bad.
- 49:00SPEAKER_03: I don't did you did you get a chance to look at it?
- 49:02SPEAKER_03: Which what's their best win?
- 49:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah, their best win would be UVA.
- 49:12SPEAKER_03: Yes, you're right.
- 49:13SPEAKER_03: It is UVA four and four UVA.
- 49:15SPEAKER_03: The rest of those teams, Stanford, Virginia, Florida State, Wake app is bad, NC State, bad.
- 49:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, their best win is UVA.
- 49:24SPEAKER_03: Now they haven't even been tested a little.
- 49:26SPEAKER_03: I mean, they were tested against Georgia, but they got the breakbow.
- 49:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they're breakfast from 34 to 3.
- 49:30SPEAKER_03: So, like, let's let's let's give them some credit.
- 49:33SPEAKER_03: Like, what do you do when you play bad teams?
- 49:35SPEAKER_03: You beat them handly, you yeah, you put them away.
- 49:37SPEAKER_03: They've done that, they've done that.
- 49:39SPEAKER_03: Um, I don't have a strong feeling of this game because of that.
- 49:44SPEAKER_03: Like, I'm worried about this game because they haven't been tested at all, but also they're supposed to be good because they're talented, but this game is at Clemson, like Clemson minus 10 and a half.
- 49:54SPEAKER_03: Do you feel strongly either way about this one?
- 49:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I actually think so.
- 49:58SPEAKER_05: When when Louisville played Miami, I think I picked Louisville with the upset.
- 50:03SPEAKER_05: And I think this game kind of has a lot of similarities to that game.
- 50:07SPEAKER_05: And I also think that I would be wrong for trusting in Louisville again.
- 50:12SPEAKER_05: I do think Clemson wins this game, especially because it's at home, especially because their fans have been yearning for a big time home game all year long.
- 50:20SPEAKER_05: They haven't had it.
- 50:21SPEAKER_05: This is kind of it for them this year so far.
- 50:24SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 50:24SPEAKER_05: Um, they've got at pit later.
- 50:26SPEAKER_05: So this is their biggest game at home this year, really.
- 50:29SPEAKER_05: Maybe South Carolina at the end uh of the season.
- 50:32SPEAKER_05: But yeah, I think I think Clemson wins.
- 50:34SPEAKER_05: I think they I think they make a little statement here.
- 50:36SPEAKER_05: I'm not, I'm not, I'm kind of done doubting Clemson for now.
- 50:39SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 50:39SPEAKER_03: Do you want do you want do you want to put them to cover or do you want to stay away?
- 50:42SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm I'm kind of in the stay away camp on this one.
- 50:45SPEAKER_03: I'm fine to stay away.
- 50:46SPEAKER_05: I think they cover, but I'm fine to stay away.
- 50:47SPEAKER_03: I we're gonna stay away.
- 50:49SPEAKER_03: I mean we might regret that, but I you know, I yeah, we're gonna stay away.
- 50:52SPEAKER_03: All right, Vandy at Auburn.
- 50:54SPEAKER_03: This the spread has now moved to Auburn minus seven, so it's moved a little bit since you looked at it.
- 50:58SPEAKER_03: Vegas likes Auburn.
- 50:59SPEAKER_03: Auburn uh over under is 48 and a half points.
- 51:03SPEAKER_03: Um, give me your we've already talked about this whole text a little bit.
- 51:06SPEAKER_03: Give me your Auburn Vandy thoughts.
- 51:07SPEAKER_05: Um I'm knee-jerk reaction, recency bias, give me Diego Pavia.
- 51:13SPEAKER_05: Give me the Commodores, man.
- 51:14SPEAKER_05: Give me the Commodores to go in there and get that win.
- 51:16SPEAKER_05: All right, let's do it.
- 51:17SPEAKER_03: I'll give you Vanderbilt too.
- 51:18SPEAKER_03: That's what I mean.
- 51:19SPEAKER_03: You know, I he's he's clearly the best quarterback out there, that's for sure.
- 51:22SPEAKER_03: You know, what gives me pause is the talent discrepancy.
- 51:25SPEAKER_03: Um Auburn has more talent, Jordan Hare.
- 51:27SPEAKER_03: Um, but it's until 1245 in the afternoon, so it's not gonna be like that wild.
- 51:33SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, let's go, let's just ride the better quarterback.
- 51:35SPEAKER_03: And we're getting six and a half points.
- 51:36SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, let's go van D plus six and a half.
- 51:38SPEAKER_03: I'm with you there.
- 51:39SPEAKER_03: Uh, this is a weird line.
- 51:42SPEAKER_03: Minnesota at number 24, Illinois, Minnesota unranked, Illinois ranked.
- 51:48SPEAKER_03: Uh Minnesota five and three, Illinois, six and two.
- 51:54SPEAKER_03: Minnesota minus three.
- 51:56SPEAKER_03: They're laying three points on the road.
- 51:59SPEAKER_03: So the general rule of gambling is like when you see a line that you don't understand, you lean into it.
- 52:06SPEAKER_06: Oh, you stay away.
- 52:07SPEAKER_03: I lean into it.
- 52:07SPEAKER_03: I have I cannot for the life of me understand why Minnesota is favored in this game.
- 52:12SPEAKER_03: Why is Illinois getting a field goal?
- 52:14SPEAKER_03: Um, what could you have any?
- 52:16SPEAKER_03: I mean, how much in Minnesota Illinois ball have you been watching this year?
- 52:19SPEAKER_03: Do you have any Minnesota Illinois thoughts?
- 52:21SPEAKER_05: Not a lot, except that Minnesota has been, you know, uh better than we've than anyone thinks that yeah, they are playing good ball.
- 52:30SPEAKER_05: They're kind of under the radar, like pretty darn good.
- 52:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 52:33SPEAKER_05: Um, and you know, Illinois, I don't know.
- 52:38SPEAKER_05: I don't have a big take on this, is what I'm saying.
- 52:40SPEAKER_03: I've been impressed with uh what so Minnesota's won three straight, uh USC 246-17, UCLA 2117, and then they beat the brakes off of Maryland uh 48 uh 23.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: So PJ Fleck is doing something right, but Brett Bielam is a good coach too, and he's getting three points at home.
- 52:58SPEAKER_03: They still got uh the Sakari Franklin back there.
- 53:01SPEAKER_03: Um we could stay away from this one, or we could jump in because the line is weird.
- 53:06SPEAKER_03: My gut is to lean into that and go Minnesota to cover because that's kind of the rule of gamblers.
- 53:11SPEAKER_03: Like when you see a line you don't understand, lean into it.
- 53:13SPEAKER_03: But that's the only thing I play that I can see is don't know, go into it.
- 53:18SPEAKER_05: Or go yeah, I have no official Mike Blitz take on this.
- 53:21SPEAKER_05: So um I uh yeah, my my vote is to stay away because I I didn't I don't know enough my personally.
- 53:28SPEAKER_03: So I will skip it.
- 53:29SPEAKER_03: Uh number 18 Pitt at number 20 SMU.
- 53:33SPEAKER_03: This is actually a great game.
- 53:34SPEAKER_03: This is probably the fight for the third best team in the um ACC, maybe second.
- 53:39SPEAKER_03: We'll find out about Clemson and Miami a little bit longer.
- 53:41SPEAKER_03: But these games are both good.
- 53:42SPEAKER_03: It's at SMU, it's in Dallas.
- 53:45SPEAKER_03: Uh SMU is minus seven and a half, over under is 59 and a half.
- 53:50SPEAKER_03: Um, I really want to bet against Pitt again.
- 53:54SPEAKER_03: I just I really think SMU is that good.
- 53:56SPEAKER_03: I think Kevin Jennings is that good.
- 53:58SPEAKER_03: Um, I think Rhett Lashley is a really good coach.
- 54:00SPEAKER_03: I know I know Nerduzzi is too, but um, despite Pitt beating the brakes off of Syracuse and SMU nearly donking it at Duke, I still like I still like the the Cowboys, I still like the Mustangs.
- 54:13SPEAKER_05: Uh so Jennings is kind of like a even better with higher ceiling, Kyle McCord.
- 54:19SPEAKER_05: He can do a lot more with his legs, he's got a much bigger arm.
- 54:22SPEAKER_05: Um, so I mean, but I also I really do like Pitt's defense.
- 54:27SPEAKER_05: I think they're pretty good.
- 54:28SPEAKER_05: Um, I'll take SMU with you.
- 54:29SPEAKER_05: I'll take SMU.
- 54:31SPEAKER_05: All right, we're doing it.
- 54:31SPEAKER_05: SMU to cover, minus seven and a half.
- 54:34SPEAKER_05: Good stuff.
- 54:34SPEAKER_05: I'm I'm still doubting Pitt as well.
- 54:36SPEAKER_03: So they just don't look very good.
- 54:39SPEAKER_03: Um, number uh the cocktail party, uh Florida at number two, Georgia, Georgia minus 16 and a half, over under two and a half.
- 54:46SPEAKER_03: I assume this game's in Jacksonville.
- 54:47SPEAKER_03: I actually haven't checked that and verified that, but I I assume that it is again, which is the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 54:53SPEAKER_03: So it's a neutral.
- 54:54SPEAKER_05: I think this is one of the last years they do they're doing it in Jacksonville.
- 54:56SPEAKER_05: Good.
- 54:57SPEAKER_05: I think that that contract is ending soon.
- 54:59SPEAKER_03: I'm so happy to hear that.
- 55:00SPEAKER_03: Game play Georgia playing in Gainesville, the Gators in Athens way better.
- 55:06SPEAKER_03: So I'm glad they're doing that.
- 55:07SPEAKER_03: But anyway, this is a neutral site game.
- 55:09SPEAKER_03: Um, this week, uh, Georgia is laying 16 and a half, they're coming off a bye, although I think Florida is two.
- 55:15SPEAKER_03: Um, I I I'll give you you go first.
- 55:19SPEAKER_03: I have a thought, but you go first.
- 55:21SPEAKER_05: Give it to me, baby.
- 55:22SPEAKER_05: I want the Florida Gators to cover this.
- 55:24SPEAKER_05: They've got they're laying a ton of points, they're coming off their best offensive performance of the year against a pretty salty Kentucky defensive line.
- 55:32SPEAKER_05: I think Georgia kind of continues to limp into games like this in a rivalry.
- 55:36SPEAKER_05: I think Florida bows up and covers.
- 55:39SPEAKER_03: Wow, man, I feel the exact opposite.
- 55:41SPEAKER_03: I was gonna say Georgia coming off a bye.
- 55:43SPEAKER_03: So I'm still so impressed by what Georgia did to Texas.
- 55:47SPEAKER_03: I here's my thing.
- 55:48SPEAKER_03: Here's my question for you, Mike.
- 55:49SPEAKER_03: Who in the country can block a healthy Georgia?
- 55:54SPEAKER_03: That's inefficient.
- 55:56SPEAKER_05: They do so many stunts and weird things.
- 55:58SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 55:58SPEAKER_03: I don't think anybody can.
- 55:59SPEAKER_03: If anybody could, it was probably Texas, and they didn't have a chance.
- 56:03SPEAKER_03: Um, and coming off a bye, I got Georgia winning it so this.
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: I think this is a clear stay away.
- 56:07SPEAKER_03: Do you like the over-under at all?
- 56:08SPEAKER_03: 52 points.
- 56:09SPEAKER_03: You think it's gonna be a live high scoring affair?
- 56:11SPEAKER_03: What do you think?
- 56:11SPEAKER_05: I don't know much, I don't know as much about that.
- 56:13SPEAKER_05: I uh I I like I like Florida better than the over-under.
- 56:17SPEAKER_03: Okay, so I think we're I think we're I think we're agree to stay away on this one.
- 56:20SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 56:20SPEAKER_03: Um uh very cool.
- 56:23SPEAKER_03: Um, so uh or do you have how much time you got?
- 56:29SPEAKER_03: None.
- 56:29SPEAKER_03: Okay, all right.
- 56:30SPEAKER_03: Uh we will continue this later, folks.
- 56:32SPEAKER_03: That is the end.
- 56:33SPEAKER_03: Uh Penn State, uh Vandy, SMU.
- 56:35SPEAKER_03: We'll put the uh bets in the in the group chat and we'll go talk from there.
- 56:38SPEAKER_03: Uh thanks for coming, guys.
- 56:40SPEAKER_03: Uh see you later.
