- 0:03Welcome to The Daily Quote, the podcast designed to kick start
- 0:07your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern.
- 0:10And let's jump into today's quote from Rudyard Kipling from
- 0:14his favorite work, The Jungle Book.
- 0:17He once wrote for the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the
- 0:21strength of the wolf is that pack.
- 0:25Read that again. It works both ways.
- 0:29The pack is only as strong as each individual wolf, and each
- 0:33wolf is only as strong as the pack supporting it.
- 0:36This is the paradox of achievement.
- 0:38You need both. You need individual excellence.
- 0:42The wolf who trains, who hones their skills, who shows up
- 0:46ready. Without strong individuals, the
- 0:49pack is weak. One person slacking doesn't just
- 0:53hurt them, it weakens everyone. But you also need the pack, the
- 0:58support system, the team, the community.
- 1:02Because even the strongest wolf can't hunt alone for long.
- 1:06Even the most talented individual needs others to reach
- 1:10their full potential. Most people pick one side.
- 1:15They either think I've got to do this alone or the team will
- 1:20carry me. Both are wrong.
- 1:23Your individual strength contributes to the collective.
- 1:26Your dedication makes everyone around you better.
- 1:30Your excellence raises the standard.
- 1:33But the collective also makes you stronger.
- 1:36The pack gives you resources you don't have alone.
- 1:39Support when you're weak, perspective when you're lost,
- 1:43accountability when you drift. Kipling understood.
- 1:48These aren't opposing forces, They're complementary.
- 1:51The wolf and the pack need each other.
- 1:54So here's the question, are you strengthening your pack through
- 1:58your individual excellence? Are you letting the pack
- 2:02strengthen you? Because you need both.
- 2:05Strength of the pack is the wolf and the strength of the wolf is
- 2:09the pack. That's going to do for today.
- 2:13I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off for now, but I'll be back
- 2:17tomorrow. Same pod time, same pod station
- 2:22with another daily quote.
