- 0:00What's going on, folks? What's going on, ladies and gentlemen, and all in between?
- 0:06Welcome to the Deconstructing Topic Podcast. My name is David, and I'm your host.
- 0:12Your host of the legendary Deconstructing Topic Podcast. So my name is David. Yes, David.
- 0:19And I appreciate it, I appreciate it. Let's get on with this. We have a great one.
- 0:26We always got some good shows, some interesting stuff. I always want to bring in,
- 0:31I always want to do like Something where I could just communicate with you On
- 0:35a weekly basis I have like a podcast where I did it early on You know things
- 0:41that are in the news and so on and so forth And I just want to touch bases with this.
- 0:46Hit that like Hit that comment Feel free to share It is the deconstructed type
- 0:51of podcast I'm all over the place I'm on the YouTube The Rumble Links is in
- 0:58the description I'm all over the place,
- 1:01Spotify, Apple Podcast,
- 1:04And once again We're in the news Talking about
- 1:07something very sensitive Something that stokes a lot of emotions A lot of opinion
- 1:12And what happened in Minnesota Yesterday in regards to the mass shooting It's
- 1:17one of those things that left two children Dead and over a dozen wounded And
- 1:22it's one of those things that I always said,
- 1:25It's going to bring the opinion of opinion of everybody that's everybody in
- 1:30regards to these things.
- 1:33Now, I want to say is this.
- 1:35Growing up in certain parts of the Bronx, certain parts of New York City,
- 1:40especially in the 80s, 90s, it gets wild.
- 1:43And it was wild back then. And it's still things that.
- 1:48That it still haunts. And it is interesting because today in New York City,
- 1:52we have two different headlines from two of the main newspapers here in New York City,
- 2:00where one talks about the mass shooting, right?
- 2:06Makes a couple of, I cannot say, interject here on what exactly,
- 2:10oh, you know, mass shooting, you know, they focus on the individual.
- 2:14And then the other newspaper It has the headline Of someone who Was killed in
- 2:22Harlem And basically they saying well,
- 2:25You know stuff like this is happening A little bit too much once again in Harlem
- 2:28Innocent bystanders get gunned down Especially an elder Elder lady And then
- 2:35you know it's a little headline of the mass shooting I mean it's interesting because,
- 2:40You know those two Newspapers here in New York City They have total opposite
- 2:44of philosophy when it comes to politics, who they sponsor, whatever the case
- 2:49might be, right? One would be left, one would be right.
- 2:52And I'm one to always have said that when it comes to mass shooting or anything
- 2:57to that effect, it's one of the times where Americans talk about violence.
- 3:04And I want to say that for some reason, violence is something that's always
- 3:09brushed off in certain parts of our neighborhood, in the Bronx, let's say,
- 3:15where we just brush it off like, ah, you know, it's gang violence,
- 3:18whatever violence or whatever the case might be.
- 3:22And people are just like, oh, you know, we got to address the situation with
- 3:25gang violence. And I always said, look, violence is violence, right?
- 3:28And it's interesting because there was a couple of days ago,
- 3:31that was headlined that in the bronze you had a couple of mass shooting within an eight-hour period,
- 3:38two different situations and a shooting robbery of Amazon drivers.
- 3:45So now, you know, in definition, my understanding is that mass shooting would
- 3:47involve three victims or involve three people that are being shot at.
- 3:52So, you know, it just how in this country, how they grab the headlines and make
- 3:57it something where it triggers the emotional people. Now, my observation in
- 4:01regards to mass shooting, and I'm wanting to say I'm an internet baby.
- 4:05Yeah, internet baby since the 90s. Let's go.
- 4:08It's a website that says, I forgot what's it in here. I'm not even going to
- 4:12say. I forgot the name. It's called Tistas.
- 4:16Forgot the spelling, basically. And if you look at the top 10 mass shooting,
- 4:21like when it comes to victim, and I, you know, before I did this podcast,
- 4:26you know, I wanted to kind of like show, okay, let's see the numbers.
- 4:30If you look at 7 of the 10 mass shooting films.
- 4:35It has occurred in the last 20, 25 years. Now, I'm an intimate internet baby, right?
- 4:42And I want to bring this up because I always see that there is a connection
- 4:46between the internet, the social medias, and mass shooting.
- 4:50Now, there's other observations. There's other things, too, that I could see that tie up.
- 4:54You know, there's always something where people don't like to talk about it.
- 4:58But let's say there has been mass shooting that are part of the military.
- 5:02There have been mass shooters that have been taking, a lot of them, have been taking Mets.
- 5:07As a matter of fact, the first mass shooting in Texas, and I talked about this before, Mets.
- 5:13But, you know, no one is going to go after the Mets. No one's going to go after
- 5:16Big Pharma because it's always a thing with guns.
- 5:20And it seems that everything that's around seems to kind of not become an issue, right?
- 5:27But I often observe, and if I remember, and as a matter of fact, when I was a teenager.
- 5:33Back in the late 90s, for me, when I like,
- 5:36if I'm, and I'm trying to recall, I think in terms of the media that they centralize
- 5:42it and, you know, sadly, those individuals was the student in Columbine over
- 5:47there in Colorado, right?
- 5:49And it's one of those things that I always said that I always observed is that
- 5:54I always kind of make that connection.
- 5:57And there's always something about the internet. There's always something about these social medias.
- 6:01That have kind of amped up our emotions and how easy we could be able to kind
- 6:08of buy a gun. And I'm not even going to say that a lot of these mad shooters
- 6:11got it online because they probably got it in their local shop and then you already know.
- 6:15Some people, some of these gun stores, they probably, hey, we need money. We got to sell the guns.
- 6:21Background check, you know, we'll check 50% of it. You know what I mean? That's one topic.
- 6:27Mads, mental issue. You know, it's a lot of things that we For some reason we
- 6:32tend to forget And we just,
- 6:34you know, want to point out that Hey, this is people And I know it's going to
- 6:38be controversial I know that some people have brought up The situation where
- 6:44it seems like it's a trend now,
- 6:46Of trans people who have committed the crime And again, and I want to say You
- 6:53could grab either this person That's a, you know, quote unquote straight Or
- 6:57whatever the case might be Or they religious,
- 7:01Now we bring in the trance And I will guarantee you If we take away those things,
- 7:07What's behind that There's something more sinister.
- 7:10And again we could bring up the mads We could bring mental issues But that's
- 7:14not the sexy thing That's not the headline That's going to make reforms And
- 7:19that's not what The mainstream media is going to gravitate To be like you know
- 7:24what This is why we need this and that,
- 7:26But I always often said That the behavior of us human Now me personally.
- 7:32You're up in the hood. I'm going to say we live in a crazy time back then, back in the 80s and 90s.
- 7:39Now, because people have cell phones, you know, the crime stats have probably gone up.
- 7:45You know, because a cell phone, now people could take pictures,
- 7:49cameras. So, you know, some people might be reluctant.
- 7:51The way that we see things are a little bit different because it used to be, and I often said this,
- 7:59It used to be that when you get bullied And that's another topic there too It
- 8:05would often come that Hey, listen, I'm a school kid from the 80s, 90s So if,
- 8:13let's say, when the bullying happened It happened during school hours You could tell a teacher, right?
- 8:20You could bring it up to your parents But because of the internet and social
- 8:25media bullying is a 24-hour, seven days away type of thing.
- 8:29So I'm going to say is that the behavior of humans and certain things,
- 8:35certain topics, like I said, mass shooting as well, it have changed because
- 8:39now there's a lot of people out there that react to whatever it is and they get more emotional.
- 8:44Remember, that's the whole thing of these social medias.
- 8:47They make you feel a certain way. They make you despise somebody,
- 8:52whatever the case might be, whoever it is, whatever is the current president, whoever, you know,
- 8:58whether it's now, whether it's four years ago, whether it's 10,
- 9:0020, people are amping up their emotions being on these social.
- 9:05And, you know, sometimes, again, it begs the question, should we limit people
- 9:10to how much time they got on the internet? You know what I mean?
- 9:14But again, it's not the sexy thing to talk about because there's billions of dollars.
- 9:20What makes and break these conversations is basically guns, right?
- 9:26How can we limit this? How can we do this? We got the mental issue aspect. Yes, please.
- 9:33They're lying in me here. Feel free to reach out to me.
- 9:37To people that have going through a lot, you know, that having some type of
- 9:41mental issues, are we asking what have the system have done?
- 9:46Now, I remember hearing a story And I was young But I was not in this country
- 9:50But one of the Mass shootings Happened in the 80s I believe it was in California
- 9:55In McDonald's I think 20 plus people died,
- 9:58And keep in mind You know There's no end to that You know Back then,
- 10:02So there was no thing That was stroking The,
- 10:06shooter to say You know I gotta do this,
- 10:09But it has been reported That the individual Who did the shooting Back in You
- 10:14know It was in the mid 80s In California San Diego Whatever the kids might be Right.
- 10:19And we could look it up and always, and the person was trying to reach out because
- 10:25he knew that they had mental issues.
- 10:28Now, it's crazy because they come to a point that in the 80s now,
- 10:32we right now have more access to certain things, but for some reason,
- 10:38it's still, you know, there's something like, how can I say it to you?
- 10:43Because of the internet, you could access health, but because of the internet,
- 10:47it has increased how much people are going through mental issues.
- 10:51It used to be that it was a limited, selected people in the 80s.
- 10:54And I'm not saying that it was less or more, but, you know, the help assistance
- 10:59in the 80s was just like not as close as now. It was not available.
- 11:04And my understanding, this individual in the mass shooting in California,
- 11:08McDonald's, he reached out to somebody and they'd say, well,
- 11:11you know, just give it a couple of hours.
- 11:13We'll get some help. There were, whoever hotline he spoke to,
- 11:16there were going to get help.
- 11:19The individual was seeking help. But sadly, those two hours, it was too long.
- 11:25And once again, my thing with certain of these mass shootings is that people
- 11:29gravitate to go online for some reason.
- 11:32They'll do a manifesto, right? They'll write down now.
- 11:36There's always something that triggers people to say, you know what?
- 11:39Let me do this. Let me do that.
- 11:42And that's always been my observation, and for some reason.
- 11:47Again, crime is so different now. Things like violence, things, it's just so different.
- 11:52And a lot of times, that has to do a lot with the internet.
- 11:56You know, you hear people disappearing, meeting people. You hear people go live,
- 12:02let's say, on Facebook, Instagram, whatever social media.
- 12:05They go out there dissing somebody within a couple of minutes.
- 12:09They're getting shot up or vice versa.
- 12:12Think about it. You know, that's why I say that, yo, we had a bad going up.
- 12:18Because ain't nobody knew anything, but, yo, people ran up to you like,
- 12:21yo, let me get your sneakers. Let me get this. Pow.
- 12:24It was wild times back then. Wild times, you know, back then.
- 12:29Hey, listen, now, can it be that sometimes when people are streaming,
- 12:32whatever it is that they're doing, can that stop a crime? Sure.
- 12:37Oh, I'm on camera. I'm going to get caught in the phone because this person
- 12:40is streaming, and you know what? I'm not going to do nothing crazy.
- 12:43But it doesn't stop people from doing it. You know what I mean?
- 12:46But the fact that, again, if I look at these And I just look at the top 10 in
- 12:52terms of victims Again, 7 out of the last 10 have occurred in the last 25 years,
- 13:00That's what happened 25 years in the mid-90s Especially when the internet became
- 13:04commercial in the mid-90s And even in the mid-90s, it was still, but by 97, 98,
- 13:11Yeah, it was ramping up The internet was ramping it up Especially internet service
- 13:16providers Started providing unlimited service,
- 13:19Instead of like I remember Was in the company for those people Who remember
- 13:24AOL American Online right.
- 13:27They were limited Because it was costing money Because you know You use the
- 13:31dial up You know for those kids out there That don't even know What the hell
- 13:34I'm talking about But yeah we was using the phone The old school phone The landline
- 13:39To get data So you kind of limited The amount of people So basically,
- 13:45you know, that's what I'm going to talk about I'm going to do another podcast
- 13:50Because I do want to bring how
- 13:52these social medias And the internet has changed the course of humanity,
- 13:58For the most part, it has been good Because there's a lot of information There's
- 14:00a lot of things that we do And it's right on our fingertips.
- 14:05But there's a lot of emotion at what cost Is technology at what cost?
- 14:10The other thing too is like I want to bring up and I always say,
- 14:13hey, listen, one thing that I always have noticed in America,
- 14:19America is like this person that's sitting on the couch waiting to be entertained
- 14:28by anything while the world is burning around them, right?
- 14:33And it only reacts if your house is burning, but we don't react when somebody's
- 14:40neighbor's house, we don't react because we're just waiting to be entertained.
- 14:45And if one thing that I've noticed, and I remember, and I always remember,
- 14:50because now, sadly, because it's hitting schools, now it's hitting,
- 14:55you know, religious institutions, which,
- 14:58again, it used to be not that thing.
- 15:01With schools and religious institutions, sadly, especially religious institutions, church.
- 15:09A few years back, you know, what happened with the kid that goes and does mass
- 15:14shooting in South Carolina.
- 15:17But the thing is this, United States in general rule the consumers.
- 15:22So in the week when the Ovade shooting happened years ago in Texas,
- 15:28sadly, once again, kids, kids, kids, kids. You know, you ain't that to happen.
- 15:34I'm one not to be like, oh, because it's kids. Look, listen,
- 15:37I grew up again in the hood.
- 15:39In the top of my head, when I was in Africa, there was two kids in my class
- 15:42that got shot. They were kids, 12, 13.
- 15:47And they knew and I knew people of their young brothers, sisters got shot.
- 15:51So when the shooting happened, the number one movie in that week was John Wick.
- 16:01Was it John Wick 3, I believe? John Wick 4? think about it what is john wick
- 16:05right action-packed movie with a lot of guns and a lot of shooting,
- 16:12what i'm saying to you my peoples the day that united states stopped being the
- 16:19the day that united states or americans and i'm not even gonna say american
- 16:23people in general people that are living in this country the day that they stop
- 16:27becoming consumers things perhaps might change But as long as we are consumers,
- 16:32this thing will continue to happen.
- 16:35As long as people go to the movies and continue to love these action-packed
- 16:41John Wick movies, I enjoy them.
- 16:43I ain't going to do something like John Wick, but I enjoy the movies.
- 16:46Video games, too. I enjoy them. But a lot of them, even Fortnite, has guns.
- 16:53You know what I mean? It has them.
- 16:55So if you're going to start a revolution About ending mass shooting
- 16:58Then you might as well Start a revolution About ending
- 17:02it all And I'm not sure
- 17:05And I would highly doubt it If that's going
- 17:08to happen Well that's my take on that situation Once again hopefully You enjoyed
- 17:14this legendary podcast And that deconstructing topic podcast Once again my name
- 17:18is David Feel free to like it Hit me with the comment Share and all that good
- 17:24stuff We're making it happen 24-7.
- 17:26You already know I'm out of here. Peace.
