- 0:00Speaker 1: Back to it, NewsRadio 570, Dodie Kivian, and Ron Ferb,
- 0:02Speaker 1: you're on here. Hello?
- 0:05Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Hi.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I was just calling in regards to your statement that
- 0:10Speaker 2: you're thrilled with or happy with the effort that was
- 0:14Speaker 2: done by the Republican Party with repealing or getting only
- 0:19Speaker 2: a 3% or the gross property tax being only held
- 0:26Speaker 2: to the rate of inflation.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Yes, as opposed to– just to update our listeners, Dave Thomas,
- 0:34Speaker 1: one of the changes that he was able to successfully
- 0:37Speaker 1: make was to get these re-evaluations away from the 20%
- 0:41Speaker 1: or 30% increase that they would have by increasing your
- 0:45Speaker 1: property taxes. As a result of that, he's done a
- 0:47Speaker 1: number of things, and one of those things was getting
- 0:50Speaker 1: it off of those huge numbers and tying it to
- 0:53Speaker 1: the Social Security rate of inflation in addition to some
- 0:57Speaker 1: changes with the– with the 20 mil floor. There were
- 1:00Speaker 1: other things he did in addition to that to the
- 1:03Speaker 1: benefit of the taxpayer. As he said, just to update
- 1:06Speaker 1: our listeners, that were accomplished as a result of fear,
- 1:09Speaker 1: out of fear of this constitutional amendment getting enough signatures
- 1:13Speaker 1: and potentially getting passed. And if it doesn't happen, at
- 1:17Speaker 1: least we have had some changes that benefit the property owner.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't disagree with that. However, I think if
- 1:26Speaker 2: If our government's really going to be serious about spending
- 1:29Speaker 2: the money or looking into actually waste and fraud that's
- 1:32Speaker 2: going into it, I think a better suggestion would be
- 1:34Speaker 2: to have a moratorium on any type of increase until
- 1:38Speaker 2: an audit is done to see how we could better
- 1:40Speaker 2: spend the money, make sure the money's going where it
- 1:42Speaker 2: needs to be. Okay, and moratorium is just for a
- 1:46Speaker 2: short period of time. I mean, a small increase is still,
- 1:50Speaker 2: in my opinion, is still an increase. I mean, if
- 1:53Speaker 2: you had a 20% increase in property tax that was collected, okay,
- 1:57Speaker 2: then we're just supposed to be happy with a, okay,
- 2:00Speaker 2: now next year it's only supposed to be 3%. it's
- 2:03Speaker 2: still an average of 21.3% for two years.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Correct. It's still more.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Why am I giving people more money just to perpetuate
- 2:12Speaker 2: the problem? No one's looking at a solution. They're just
- 2:15Speaker 2: looking at a reduction in my expense. Why am I
- 2:17Speaker 2: giving more money? to something that's broken. That's what I
- 2:21Speaker 2: have an issue with. I said, if we're serious about this,
- 2:24Speaker 2: put a moratorium on it. Get a separate independent audit
- 2:28Speaker 2: to look into this issue and see what they can
- 2:31Speaker 2: do to fix it. I mean, we're not doing anything different.
- 2:34Speaker 2: We're just simply saying we'll take less of an increase.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I mean, I just don't think that's fair. That's just
- 2:39Speaker 2: my opinion.
- 2:40Speaker 1: That's my two cents. Let me just tell you this.
- 2:44Speaker 1: You make an excellent point. I don't disagree with the
- 2:46Speaker 1: point that you're making here, so don't misunderstand me. I
- 2:51Speaker 1: agree with the point that you're making.
- 2:53Speaker 3: But..
- 2:55Speaker 1: Here's the problem. You see all the fraud that's going
- 2:59Speaker 1: on in Ohio. We're familiar with the fraud that was
- 3:02Speaker 1: taking place in Minnesota with Tampon Tim and the Somalians.
- 3:06Speaker 1: And you can see all of it that's taking place
- 3:08Speaker 1: in Ohio as far as ripping off Medicaid. And you
- 3:13Speaker 1: see what a failure DeWine is in addressing that. You
- 3:16Speaker 1: can see what I believe is a failure from the
- 3:19Speaker 1: Attorney General, a failure from the auditor. And DeWine... to
- 3:24Speaker 1: catch it before it happened. We're finding out about all
- 3:27Speaker 1: of this because of Nick Shirley in Minnesota. If it
- 3:30Speaker 1: wasn't for this young man and that old guy that
- 3:33Speaker 1: helped him who exposed all of the Somalians stealing all
- 3:36Speaker 1: this money, millions and billions of dollars in Minnesota, and then,
- 3:40Speaker 1: of course, the focus is on California and Ohio, Ohio's
- 3:45Speaker 1: got the second biggest Somalian population that was brought here,
- 3:49Speaker 1: and as a result, the same damn thing was going
- 3:51Speaker 1: on here. Well, they were getting away with it here.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And when you're saying, where's the accountability? I'm with you.
- 3:58Speaker 1: How much? But that's half of our state budget goes
- 4:02Speaker 1: to Medicaid. Half of it. And look at the fraud.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Right, and there's zero..
- 4:11Speaker 2: I work in the private sector. There's accountability. Who's losing
- 4:15Speaker 2: their job? If you want to send someone to jail,
- 4:18Speaker 2: that's great, but where is the accountability? Where is anything
- 4:22Speaker 2: that comes out of this?
- 4:24Speaker 3: Zero.
- 4:25Speaker 2: No one's being prosecuted. They all talk about it, and
- 4:29Speaker 2: then they wait six or seven months. It's not a topic.
- 4:32Speaker 2: It's on a hot topic. It just goes away. It
- 4:34Speaker 2: goes under the rug, and everyone goes about their merry life,
- 4:38Speaker 2: and we're happy with it, then, hey, well, we're happy
- 4:41Speaker 2: with a 3% increase instead of looking at what's going on.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Dare you as a guy in the private sector to say, well,
- 4:47Speaker 1: wait a minute, where was the person to actually go
- 4:50Speaker 1: out to make sure that that leering center existed or
- 4:54Speaker 1: that transportation center or that hospice center existed? We were
- 4:58Speaker 1: sending all this money out to these hospice centers, but
- 5:02Speaker 1: they were just scams. Why wasn't there somebody going out
- 5:06Speaker 1: and actually physically taking a look at what's going on?
- 5:09Speaker 1: Why isn't there somebody physically going out to see, hey,
- 5:12Speaker 1: is there somebody in this person's home that's a relative
- 5:14Speaker 1: taking care of someone? Where's the verification going? and the
- 5:20Speaker 1: checks and balances of that money going out that should
- 5:23Speaker 1: be taking place, like in the private sector, in the
- 5:26Speaker 1: government sector. So who's being held accountable in government for
- 5:29Speaker 1: dropping the ball? Because you'll never get this money back. See,
- 5:32Speaker 1: I totally agree with this guy. You'll never get it back.
- 5:35Speaker 1: And I also agree with what you're saying. Hey, an
- 5:38Speaker 1: increase is still an increase. It's less of an increase,
- 5:41Speaker 1: and I give Dave credit for that, but it's still
- 5:43Speaker 1: an increase. And you're saying, how much more of an
- 5:46Speaker 1: increase can we continue to take here? And can we
- 5:50Speaker 1: afford to take? And you're talking as a private working citizen.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I mean, you're asking us to tighten and adjust our belts.
- 5:58Speaker 2: The only thing I'm asking is, what is the state
- 6:00Speaker 2: doing to tighten and adjust their belt? They just can't
- 6:02Speaker 2: keep coming and coming and coming. I mean, no one's
- 6:05Speaker 2: looking at any type of possibilities. Everybody wants to protect
- 6:08Speaker 2: their little zone and their little kingdoms and make sure
- 6:11Speaker 2: everything's okay. I get that. Nobody wants to redistrict. You know,
- 6:15Speaker 2: like an example is redistrict all these school districts. How
- 6:18Speaker 2: many school districts do you need? How many people are
- 6:20Speaker 2: you paying in these school districts that have superintendents? Do
- 6:23Speaker 2: you need all this overlap? When you have, you know,
- 6:27Speaker 2: for example, look how many school districts that we have
- 6:29Speaker 2: that are just in this school that are just in
- 6:31Speaker 2: the area. Boardman, Canfield, Poland, they all have their own
- 6:35Speaker 2: separate administrations. I understand no one wants to vote themselves
- 6:38Speaker 2: out of a job, but the reality is you're voting
- 6:40Speaker 2: me out of a house. I mean, that's pretty much.
- 6:43Speaker 3: How it's going because we just want to continue to take.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Our money and not change anything, just keep feeding it.
- 6:49Speaker 2: This is the problem. No one's auditing. No one's stopping
- 6:53Speaker 2: and saying, hey, where's an independent council that's auditing this stuff?
- 6:57Speaker 2: I'm not asking for another layer. I'm looking, you know,
- 7:00Speaker 2: of government to go in there and do that. But
- 7:02Speaker 2: something has to happen. I mean, someone's got to come
- 7:04Speaker 2: up with more ideas other than just saying, okay, we'll
- 7:08Speaker 2: just do less of an increase for now.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I'm with you 100%. You think like a private sector guy,
- 7:14Speaker 1: and that's what the problem is. They don't think like that.
- 7:18Speaker 1: And you're making a great point. What about me is
- 7:21Speaker 1: what you're saying. You're concerned about everything else, and you're
- 7:24Speaker 1: not doing your job, but you're pricing people out of
- 7:26Speaker 1: their home, whether they're the elderly or the working people
- 7:29Speaker 1: or young people from being able to buy a house.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And it's like everybody talks about it, but what are
- 7:34Speaker 1: you doing about it?
- 7:36Speaker 2: That's right. It's a hot topic and it'll be great.
- 7:39Speaker 2: It'll look great on a tagline on my election once
- 7:42Speaker 2: I get in. We'll get to that. We'll put that
- 7:46Speaker 2: at the back burner. It even goes on a national level.
- 7:50Speaker 2: No one's talking about the kitchen table issues anymore. No
- 7:54Speaker 2: one's talking about health care. No one's talking about all
- 7:56Speaker 2: this other stuff. We're all distracted by everything else that's
- 7:58Speaker 2: going on out there, except for what really matters to
- 8:00Speaker 2: the American people. It's almost like this country has developed
- 8:04Speaker 2: its own class, which is the government class, instead of
- 8:07Speaker 2: people that are supposed to be elected to represent me.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Boy, I tell you, you're spot on, man. You are
- 8:15Speaker 1: just bravo to you. Excellent. Thank you for your call.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Well, thank you. Thanks for taking it.
- 8:21Speaker 1: All right. I mean, that guy is spot on. He
- 8:24Speaker 1: is just absolutely spot on. You're on the air.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Hello?
- 8:28Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:30Speaker 5: Yeah, so the comment on you about the wine and
- 8:35Speaker 5: all this fraud and everything, the one thing that I
- 8:37Speaker 5: have not heard come up yet, It's Jim Trestle. Am
- 8:41Speaker 5: I supposed to assume that Trestle knows nothing about this?
- 8:44Speaker 5: He seems like he's always this pretty boy, nothing ever happens,
- 8:47Speaker 5: but he's down there, too. Nobody's ever called him out
- 8:50Speaker 5: as far as, like, did he know anything? It just
- 8:53Speaker 5: seems like he doesn't comment on nothing.
- 8:55Speaker 1: He's a lieutenant governor, and I think you kind of
- 8:59Speaker 1: view that as... not really uh... having much to do
- 9:04Speaker 1: with that he think i guess is what i.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Want what what i want to say okay so that
- 9:08Speaker 5: if if if he doesn't really have anything to do
- 9:10Speaker 5: that why do you have the position you know that
- 9:13Speaker 5: just what we need a paid.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Right you know i mean if you can i don't
- 9:17Speaker 4: know what was the old thing that what true when
- 9:20Speaker 4: used to say the buck stops here should the buck
- 9:22Speaker 4: stop with the wine because he is a governor i
- 9:25Speaker 4: totally agree.
- 9:26Speaker 5: I totally agree i think the wine yeah i think
- 9:28Speaker 5: he should stop there but if you have a second
- 9:31Speaker 5: command You know, let's just say, whatever, something happened to DeWine.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Who's going to be your governor?
- 9:38Speaker 5: You know, if he goes out and gets in a
- 9:39Speaker 5: car accident, you have your lieutenant governor.
- 9:42Speaker 2: So if you're going to sit.
- 9:42Speaker 5: There and say that, oh, well, he doesn't know this
- 9:45Speaker 5: or he doesn't know that, well, he's second in command.
- 9:49Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 9:49Speaker 5: I was always a huge Jim Trestle fan, but, he's
- 9:56Speaker 5: always like a slippery wizard or something. The guy's down there,
- 10:00Speaker 5: he's second in command, and nobody brings up his name
- 10:03Speaker 5: about any of this fraud at all. He's just going
- 10:06Speaker 5: to put a sweater vest on and walk away and
- 10:08Speaker 5: go get a job somewhere else. I don't know. I
- 10:13Speaker 5: don't trust any of them anymore, honestly. I think they're
- 10:16Speaker 5: all in on it. I think it's a uniparty. I'm
- 10:17Speaker 5: sick of it. I'm a property owner in Trouble County,
- 10:21Speaker 5: and I sit there and I pay my taxes, and
- 10:24Speaker 5: I see all these dollar bills going somewhere else. I mean, frankly,
- 10:28Speaker 5: and again, not to sound like a crazy person, because
- 10:32Speaker 5: I'm not. I have a family, but at some point,
- 10:37Speaker 5: When does the common guy say, fuck it, I want
- 10:39Speaker 5: to get my country back?
- 10:40Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:41Speaker 5: Like, these politicians are just out of control. And our country, honestly,
- 10:45Speaker 5: was founded because of out-of-control government.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Yep.
- 10:50Speaker 5: I hate the shot, like I said.
- 10:51Speaker 1: But don't you think we're getting closer and closer to that, though?
- 10:55Speaker 1: Because in my opinion, it's at a breaking point right now.
- 11:00Speaker 1: And you are being ignored. And I think it's at
- 11:03Speaker 1: a breaking point as we speak. And every day that
- 11:06Speaker 1: it goes further, it gets more and more heated as
- 11:10Speaker 1: a result of it. I mean, so aren't we there now?
- 11:13Speaker 1: Because haven't we put people under so much? Aren't we
- 11:16Speaker 1: taking so much of their money? We're making it difficult
- 11:18Speaker 1: for them to survive in many cases.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I just look at the whole thing, and number one,
- 11:25Speaker 5: I'm a Trump voter, but I can sit there and
- 11:28Speaker 5: tell you things that I think he's done wrong.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 11:31Speaker 5: You know, like, however, I still think he's the best
- 11:36Speaker 5: that I've seen so far in a lot of policies. However,
- 11:39Speaker 5: he has screwed some things up.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Right.
- 11:42Speaker 3: But again, if you look at what he's tried to.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Do, and how both sides constantly try to fight him
- 11:47Speaker 5: on everything..
- 11:49Speaker 3: I just go through that whole thing.
- 11:50Speaker 5: It's a uniparty.
- 11:51Speaker 3: And, you know, you almost, you.
- 11:53Speaker 5: Know, sometimes you just almost wish they were all on
- 11:57Speaker 5: a plane. They go down. I mean, it's like the
- 12:00Speaker 5: whitewash of our own startup.
- 12:02Speaker 3: I'm just sick of it, you know.
- 12:03Speaker 5: I go to work every day, and I see people
- 12:05Speaker 5: driving around on these videos. They're driving around in, you know,
- 12:10Speaker 5: Lexuses and everything else, making $ 5, 000 a month on my money.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:15Speaker 5: And, I mean, it makes me, honestly... And I don't
- 12:20Speaker 5: feel like I'm a hateful person, but it makes me
- 12:25Speaker 5: mistrust anybody that I see that... It doesn't look like
- 12:29Speaker 5: they are an American. I'm thinking, well, is that dude
- 12:32Speaker 5: getting my money? Is that dude getting my money?
- 12:34Speaker 2: I look at what a car driver. Well, maybe he is.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Well, because you've been paying attention to the leering centers
- 12:40Speaker 1: and the transportation and the millions and billions that have
- 12:43Speaker 1: been ripped off by people that have come to this
- 12:46Speaker 1: country who haven't assimilated, have no intention to do that,
- 12:50Speaker 1: and are doing nothing but stealing all of your tax
- 12:52Speaker 1: dollars and will make more money than you will earn
- 12:55Speaker 1: in a lifetime as a result of doing that. by
- 12:58Speaker 1: these scams. And that's the reality. And you're upset by it?
- 13:02Speaker 1: You damn well should be, don't you think? And you're saying,
- 13:06Speaker 1: let's hold people accountable. Where's DeWine? Where's the Attorney General?
- 13:10Speaker 1: Where's the auditor? Where are the people? All this is
- 13:13Speaker 1: coming out because of Nick Shirley in Minnesota. So now
- 13:16Speaker 1: it's coming out, hey, guess what? Tampon Tim wasn't the
- 13:19Speaker 1: only incompetent one. We had it going on here in Ohio.
- 13:22Speaker 1: So who's being held accountable?
- 13:23Speaker 5: We're supposed to have all these qualified people, and you
- 13:25Speaker 5: have a person, what? I don't even know how Nick,
- 13:27Speaker 5: he's not over 30, I wouldn't think.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I would say at my age, he's a kid.
- 13:31Speaker 5: I mean, you have a kid that can expose this,
- 13:33Speaker 5: and yet these maggots in offices can't do it?
- 13:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I'm with you. Amen, brother. Thanks for your call. Appreciate it.
- 13:41Speaker 1: The guy is spot on. Two excellent calls in a row. Excellent. 330-729-9977.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Your comment, 330-729-9977. That's why I say I think we
- 13:54Speaker 1: are at a breaking point. I think we're there now.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Government continues to take more and more of productive people's money.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Productive people are looking around and saying, look at the
- 14:08Speaker 1: money you're taking from me, making it difficult for me
- 14:11Speaker 1: to save for my retirement, making it difficult for me
- 14:14Speaker 1: to enjoy a vacation, making it difficult for me to
- 14:17Speaker 1: stay in my house as I age, making it difficult
- 14:20Speaker 1: for me to deal with the increasing cost of just
- 14:23Speaker 1: basic health care because you're taking so much of my
- 14:27Speaker 1: money for everybody else. So you hear it, and people
- 14:36Speaker 1: are justified in saying it and saying, well, wait a minute.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I'm looking at all of these grants for this ridiculous stuff,
- 14:44Speaker 1: as the boss lady was saying. I'm looking at all
- 14:48Speaker 1: of these people that have gone on for years ripping
- 14:52Speaker 1: off Medicaid, millions and billions of dollars buying the Lexuses,
- 14:57Speaker 1: sending a million dollars back to Somalia in a suitcase. Hey,
- 15:01Speaker 1: I thought it was just in Minnesota. Wait a minute.
- 15:03Speaker 1: It's in Ohio. Well, who's getting arrested? Why aren't these
- 15:07Speaker 1: people being thrown out of this country? What public officials
- 15:11Speaker 1: were lax in doing their job? I mean, I get
- 15:16Speaker 1: it all. And I get that guy's frustration and anger
- 15:21Speaker 1: with it. And I think it's all justified. And he
- 15:25Speaker 1: has it because he's paying attention to what's going on.
- 15:30Speaker 1: They get away with it when you're not paying attention.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It's why I sit here and you've got to admire people.
- 15:34Speaker 1: You've got to admire people that are actively involved, like
- 15:38Speaker 1: the boss lady in Richard Pharmacist and Ted the Conservative.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And what's going on? 570 WKBN. And we're on Verb
- 15:47Speaker 1: 423 here on a Tuesday afternoon with 83 degrees. And
- 15:51Speaker 1: good to be with you. We'll be with you until
- 15:53Speaker 1: 6 tonight. Guardians. With the pre-show, it's 6 o'clock, first
- 16:00Speaker 1: pitch about 6.30 on NewsRadio 570. Dodie, can we get
- 16:03Speaker 1: a hello? You're on the air.
- 16:04Speaker 3: How are you doing?
- 16:06Speaker 1: It's J.J. the Liberal. He has sent me some copies
- 16:11Speaker 1: of some of his pictures, and I think I like
- 16:17Speaker 1: what I happen to see. You call some of it
- 16:19Speaker 1: space art. I look at it, and it's like outer space.
- 16:25Speaker 1: And it's like..
- 16:27Speaker 3: I always tell my wife it kind of looks like
- 16:29Speaker 3: a four-year-old doing it, but..
- 16:31Speaker 1: No, it does not look like a four-year-old.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I know it's silly, but I enjoy doing it. But
- 16:36Speaker 3: I'm glad you got them. I tried to give you...
- 16:39Speaker 3: Did you see the ones with the horse and the Jesus?
- 16:43Speaker 3: I sent you one today with a picture that I
- 16:46Speaker 3: drew of Jesus with the cross and also a horse
- 16:51Speaker 3: and a leopard. Did you get those two?
- 16:55Speaker 1: I got, let me, yes, yes, yes. I saw the
- 16:59Speaker 1: one of the horse's head and I saw the one
- 17:03Speaker 1: of the fish, but those were not the ones that
- 17:06Speaker 1: I was most impressed with. I was What do you
- 17:09Speaker 1: call it? Are they called abstracts or something along those lines?
- 17:13Speaker 3: There's ones you saw that look like you're on acid.
- 17:17Speaker 3: You've never been on acid before. But that's like a
- 17:21Speaker 3: fluid art. And then there's the drawings and then there's
- 17:23Speaker 3: the space paint.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought the space painting was the coolest of
- 17:32Speaker 1: all the stuff you did. The colors.
- 17:34Speaker 3: You did me a nice thing.
- 17:34Speaker 1: No, I'm not. The colors were nice. Now, there was
- 17:37Speaker 1: another one that I saw that you sent me today,
- 17:39Speaker 1: the one with the sunset and the water, the orange sunset.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Yeah, that's spray paint also. I did that with spray paint.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Is that spray paint?
- 17:48Speaker 3: Yeah. I use different things to get certain textures. I'll
- 17:55Speaker 3: use anything from newspapers, not newspapers, but magazines. I kind
- 18:01Speaker 3: of waxed magazine sheets, or I'll use a plastic bag.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Sometimes you just use my hands. Um, it's a little
- 18:09Speaker 3: of everything that, you know, whatever you, every space, every
- 18:13Speaker 3: spray painter does use a different, it's not, it's, it's,
- 18:18Speaker 3: you know, items to make their, yeah, it's.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Not bad stuff. I mean, it's not, I mean, if,
- 18:24Speaker 1: if you, the colors are good, the space art is good. And, uh,
- 18:30Speaker 1: I mean, I can, I can see it there. I mean, it's,
- 18:32Speaker 1: I can, I can absolutely, it's like planets out in space, uh,
- 18:36Speaker 1: But it's done really well.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a vision from, like, you're a viewer in
- 18:38Speaker 3: a spacecraft, and you're looking at different planets.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:43Speaker 3: I do go on with the galaxy that I did.
- 18:45Speaker 3: It's off in the distance. And it's my way of
- 18:48Speaker 3: kind of escaping a little bit. And I love the colors.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Last night I turned, I was in the garage doing
- 18:52Speaker 3: a couple, and I turned on the..
- 18:56Speaker 1: I can actually..
- 18:57Speaker 3: It looked like I was in a bar. You know, like, oh,
- 18:59Speaker 3: here it was. I had to listen to the music again.
- 19:03Speaker 3: it was like illuminated the whole garage.
- 19:06Speaker 1: You don't have to do acid. You know, I kind
- 19:08Speaker 1: of To appreciate your artwork. You don't have to be
- 19:11Speaker 1: like on heroin or acid or anything like that to
- 19:13Speaker 1: appreciate your artwork.
- 19:15Speaker 3: I would imagine if you're on heroin or acid, you're
- 19:17Speaker 3: not going to be able to do too much. But
- 19:19Speaker 3: I engage beforehand sometimes and it gives me a little
- 19:22Speaker 3: bit of relaxation.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Now, wait a minute. You're smoking a devil's lettuce, but
- 19:26Speaker 1: that's different. But you call it appropriately space art. And
- 19:29Speaker 1: it does look like you're looking at different galaxies and
- 19:32Speaker 1: stars and that kind of stuff. It's kind of cool.
- 19:35Speaker 1: It's kind of cool.
- 19:35Speaker 3: I appreciate that. You know, that's what I'm saying is
- 19:37Speaker 3: I want to direct it toward younger people. That's not
- 19:39Speaker 3: anything that maybe you want.
- 19:41Speaker 1: To put up in your house. Well, you know, when
- 19:42Speaker 1: you're talking young. Well, listen, pal, when you're talking younger people,
- 19:45Speaker 1: you're talking me. You are talking.
- 19:48Speaker 3: You're young at heart, Ron. You're young at heart.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 19:51Speaker 3: I mean, it's... I kind of appreciate all the compliments
- 19:54Speaker 3: that I do. I never thought about sending you anything,
- 19:57Speaker 3: and I thought I'd... And someday I'll have to send
- 20:00Speaker 3: you maybe a picture of my son, too. He's nice.
- 20:02Speaker 3: We got a nice couple pictures. He's growing up, and
- 20:06Speaker 3: he's a beautiful little kid. I don't know where he
- 20:08Speaker 3: got the looks. I think he got it from his wife.
- 20:09Speaker 3: My wife, because they didn't get them from me. But anyway,
- 20:13Speaker 3: I want to just one more minute of your time.
- 20:15Speaker 3: I know you've got people waiting and you've got to
- 20:16Speaker 3: leave early. But I want to just bring a couple
- 20:18Speaker 3: of things to your guys' attention. One, the small young thing,
- 20:22Speaker 3: I agree that there was fraud going on and a
- 20:26Speaker 3: lot of stealing, a lot of theft, and a lot
- 20:28Speaker 3: of enormous amounts of money. And that is not right
- 20:32Speaker 3: no matter what color you are or no matter who
- 20:35Speaker 3: you are. But also I have to, you know, bring
- 20:38Speaker 3: to everybody's attention that part of the people that were
- 20:40Speaker 3: involved in guiding these individuals who do the stealing were Americans.
- 20:46Speaker 3: They were people that were from this country. So I
- 20:48Speaker 3: just wanted to bring that to your attention. But again,
- 20:51Speaker 3: I'm agreeing more than 50% with you guys. The other
- 20:54Speaker 3: thing is, yesterday, the Game.
- 20:58Speaker 5: 3 of the..
- 21:00Speaker 3: The NBA championship was in New York.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:02Speaker 3: And I didn't appreciate him doing what he did, Trump,
- 21:06Speaker 3: by going in there. Because people were supposed to, they
- 21:08Speaker 3: couldn't get in. There was like $ 4, 300 a ticket. And
- 21:11Speaker 3: so people were, bars weren't, you know, allowing people to
- 21:13Speaker 3: go in. And they were having, you know, specials. And
- 21:16Speaker 3: everybody was just going to have a good time. Stand by.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Stand by. Stand by, J.J. It's J.J. the Liberal. I
- 21:21Speaker 1: want to hear the rest of it. Right after this,
- 21:24Speaker 1: Ron Furb, NewsRadio 570, WDQN. News Radio 570 WKVN. From
- 21:29Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKVN, I'm Ron Verb. Good to be
- 21:32Speaker 1: with you here. 435 in the afternoon. So you have
- 21:37Speaker 1: this case in Texas where they came out with the
- 21:42Speaker 1: verdict today of guilty for this. This was a case,
- 21:48Speaker 1: I don't know if you remember it or not. Collin County, Texas.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Jury found 19-year-old's Kamalo Anthony, guilty of murder. The verdict
- 21:59Speaker 1: was reached regarding the April 2025 fatal stabbing of 17-year-old
- 22:05Speaker 1: Austin Metcalf following a confrontation at a high school track
- 22:09Speaker 1: meet in a Dallas suburb. So now everything turns into
- 22:16Speaker 1: a racial thing anymore these days because the young man
- 22:20Speaker 1: that was stabbed is white. And the person that stabbed
- 22:26Speaker 1: him is black. So let me give you some of
- 22:33Speaker 1: the details about what happened. They say the fatal altercation
- 22:37Speaker 1: took place in a team tent during a rainy regional
- 22:41Speaker 1: track competition when a dispute arose over Anthony. Now, he
- 22:48Speaker 1: would be the African-American man. is Anthony being in a
- 22:54Speaker 1: seating area not designated for his school. So he was
- 22:59Speaker 1: where he didn't belong. Medcalf, that would be the white kid,
- 23:04Speaker 1: pushed Anthony. And Anthony responded by stabbing Medcalf once in
- 23:11Speaker 1: the chest with a pocket knife and killed him. So
- 23:18Speaker 1: that's kind of the background of the case here. So
- 23:21Speaker 1: the jury heard the case and said, okay, we find
- 23:25Speaker 1: him guilty. So this is our system. Now, just think
- 23:32Speaker 1: about what happens. I mean, he was in a tent
- 23:37Speaker 1: that he didn't belong in. He didn't leave. The other
- 23:40Speaker 1: kid pushed him, and his action was to stab the
- 23:46Speaker 1: other kid in the heart, basically, in the chest. So
- 23:49Speaker 1: the jury found him guilty. So now once again, you
- 23:52Speaker 1: have the folks that always say everything's about race because
- 24:04Speaker 1: the victim is white and the person that did the
- 24:06Speaker 1: stabbing is black. And yet the legal minds say this
- 24:09Speaker 1: has nothing to do with race. This has absolutely nothing
- 24:12Speaker 1: to do with race. It has to do with just
- 24:14Speaker 1: the facts of the case. Somebody's dead. as a result
- 24:20Speaker 1: of somebody stabbing him. But everything, I mean, if you
- 24:23Speaker 1: got somebody involved, that's two races, somebody white, somebody black,
- 24:28Speaker 1: everything seems to be our race anymore. And, uh, he,
- 24:34Speaker 1: so the young man faces five to 99 years or
- 24:37Speaker 1: life in prison. As I always say, the other person
- 24:42Speaker 1: will be dead forever. So the other person is going
- 24:45Speaker 1: to be dead forever. There's no, that young man isn't
- 24:48Speaker 1: coming back. And the, uh, Young man who thought the
- 24:52Speaker 1: answer was when he was in the wrong tent and
- 24:55Speaker 1: somebody pushed him, the answer was to pull out a
- 24:57Speaker 1: knife and stab someone. It's unreal. So once again, everything
- 25:06Speaker 1: is about black and whites when you have races involved
- 25:09Speaker 1: in it. So we shall see what happens as time
- 25:12Speaker 1: goes on. But when you listen to the legal minds
- 25:14Speaker 1: that say it's a pretty much a cut and dry
- 25:16Speaker 1: case here. And race isn't a factor. It's pretty well
- 25:19Speaker 1: cut and dry. And I wonder if the people that
- 25:23Speaker 1: are protesting, I wonder if the African-American community protesting, if
- 25:30Speaker 1: they would be protesting, let's say if the roles are reversed,
- 25:33Speaker 1: let's say if it was a white individual that did
- 25:38Speaker 1: the exact same scenario to a black individual, would they
- 25:46Speaker 1: still be outraged? Would they still be screaming and protesting?
- 25:53Speaker 1: I mean, it's just if you listen to the so-called,
- 25:57Speaker 1: you know, Turley and his legal people, it seemed to
- 26:00Speaker 1: be able to say this is a pretty much a
- 26:02Speaker 1: cut and dry case. It's why the jury heard the evidence,
- 26:07Speaker 1: rendered its verdict relatively quickly. I think it was in
- 26:09Speaker 1: three hours or less and found him guilty. And now
- 26:16Speaker 1: sentencing is underway. But I mean, so what's the protest about?
- 26:23Speaker 1: So the white kid pushed this kid and that meant
- 26:29Speaker 1: it was okay for the other kid to whip out
- 26:32Speaker 1: a knife and stab him in the chest and kill him?
- 26:37Speaker 1: We're dealing with, what, 17-year-olds here? So that is the
- 26:44Speaker 1: latest verdict that has taken place today. Trump's got a
- 26:49Speaker 1: big problem on his hands. And Trump vows a response
- 26:56Speaker 1: after claiming Iran shot down this Apache helicopter over the strait. So,
- 27:02Speaker 1: the pilots are okay. So, we didn't have any death
- 27:05Speaker 1: as a result of it. But Trump vows a response.
- 27:12Speaker 1: These things have a way of escalating. And, hey, listen,
- 27:15Speaker 1: we've talked about it endlessly on the program. You know
- 27:18Speaker 1: where I stand. I think it was a mistake from
- 27:20Speaker 1: the very beginning to get... I think Trump miscalculated this
- 27:23Speaker 1: whole thing. We've talked about it numerous times. You're well
- 27:27Speaker 1: aware of that. I mean, everybody's got an opinion, including me.
- 27:32Speaker 1: And it's just like, think of where things would have
- 27:36Speaker 1: been as far as our economy was concerned if this
- 27:38Speaker 1: didn't happen. I tell you my concern about it all because,
- 27:43Speaker 1: I mean, we were going in the right direction. Gas
- 27:46Speaker 1: was about, what, $ 2. 50 a gallon, $ 2. 60 a gallon around here.
- 27:51Speaker 1: So we saw inflation was declining, energy costs were declining,
- 27:58Speaker 1: things were going in the right direction, and literally as
- 28:01Speaker 1: a result of this decision, in the blink of an eye,
- 28:04Speaker 1: he reversed his own stand on what he thought about
- 28:07Speaker 1: getting involved in regime change in the Middle East. He
- 28:11Speaker 1: reversed his own stand, both on Epstein and the situation
- 28:18Speaker 1: in the Middle East. And the next thing you know,
- 28:22Speaker 1: all the accomplishments that people were concerned about when it
- 28:26Speaker 1: comes to affordability, something that we should all be concerned about,
- 28:30Speaker 1: when it comes to affordability, all of that got reversed
- 28:33Speaker 1: in the blink of an eye. Literally in the blink
- 28:35Speaker 1: of an eye, it all got reversed. So we saw
- 28:38Speaker 1: energy prices go up to close to $ 5 a gallon. Sometimes,
- 28:42Speaker 1: some places I'm seeing around here at $ 4. 40 or $ 4
- 28:45Speaker 1: a gallon in my neck of the woods, they've come
- 28:47Speaker 1: down from the highs, but they're still high as far
- 28:50Speaker 1: as the price is concerned. Inflation has gone back. We
- 28:54Speaker 1: got inflation back. We got high energy prices back. All
- 28:58Speaker 1: as a result of one decision. Everything that he did
- 29:01Speaker 1: that was good was reversed as a result of one decision.
- 29:07Speaker 1: And as we speculate, as I do, to say, I
- 29:11Speaker 1: think he did this because of the influence of Netanyahu
- 29:14Speaker 1: in Israel, in my humble opinion, but... He reversed all
- 29:19Speaker 1: his progress. And why was he elected in the first place?
- 29:22Speaker 1: Wasn't it people elected him to secure the border and affordability? Well,
- 29:26Speaker 1: the border is still secure. We don't see as many people.
- 29:30Speaker 1: People elected him to secure the border also to get
- 29:33Speaker 1: these people that came into your country illegally. Coming to
- 29:35Speaker 1: America is a privilege. It's not a right. And people said, okay,
- 29:41Speaker 1: now you've got to get these people who came here
- 29:43Speaker 1: illegally out of here. And he was doing that, and
- 29:45Speaker 1: it seems like he's backed off of that a little bit,
- 29:48Speaker 1: getting people out that came here illegally. He's backed off
- 29:50Speaker 1: of that. And it seems that... He's getting involved in
- 29:59Speaker 1: his stuff in the Middle East, which he was opposed
- 30:01Speaker 1: to doing. And it's reversed a lot of the progress.
- 30:05Speaker 1: So that's why so many people are concerned about the midterms, saying, hey,
- 30:11Speaker 1: if it's the economy, stupid, like they say so often,
- 30:13Speaker 1: if we got these problems going in the midterms, what's
- 30:17Speaker 1: going to happen as far as the results are there?
- 30:23Speaker 1: What's going to happen and who's going to control Congress
- 30:25Speaker 1: or the Senate? As a result of these actions and
- 30:29Speaker 1: the affordability issue that still remains a major factor, it's
- 30:34Speaker 1: going to be interesting to see what happens. Now, all
- 30:37Speaker 1: these experts are saying, hey, if this continues to go on,
- 30:42Speaker 1: the United States will reach tank bottom. That means the
- 30:47Speaker 1: surplus of oil that we have in these tanks around
- 30:50Speaker 1: here at refineries and what have you. is pretty much depleted,
- 30:55Speaker 1: and it will hit tank bottom. Now you've got a
- 30:57Speaker 1: big problem. Other countries are already experiencing that issue, and
- 31:02Speaker 1: we're close to experiencing it here in the United States
- 31:04Speaker 1: in July and August, so the experts say. And when
- 31:08Speaker 1: you hit that, guess what can happen? The price of
- 31:10Speaker 1: a barrel of oil can go way up, and the
- 31:12Speaker 1: price of gasoline can go way up. And that's why
- 31:16Speaker 1: some of these experts say better reach a conclusion here,
- 31:19Speaker 1: try to reach an agreement, In June, because this is
- 31:23Speaker 1: coming in July and August, the tank bottom in the
- 31:26Speaker 1: United States. Well, it seems like Iran wasn't interested in
- 31:31Speaker 1: reaching any type of a resolution. So now it seems
- 31:35Speaker 1: like it's escalating even further with Trump saying, well, we
- 31:38Speaker 1: got to respond to shooting out this Apache helicopter. We
- 31:42Speaker 1: got to do some type of response and we'll see
- 31:43Speaker 1: where it goes. And now you're at where people have
- 31:46Speaker 1: most people are in two places. I mean, you have
- 31:49Speaker 1: the people on one extreme that say, okay, basically crap
- 31:53Speaker 1: or get off the pot. You got people saying, if
- 31:56Speaker 1: we can't reach an agreement with Iran, you got people
- 31:58Speaker 1: that are saying, okay, then take it to them. Bring
- 32:01Speaker 1: it to them. Bring it to them. So you got
- 32:08Speaker 1: people that say Trump's got to militarily get more aggressive
- 32:11Speaker 1: and start the military campaign. And put an end to this.
- 32:16Speaker 1: This just can't go on and drag on forever by saying, oh,
- 32:20Speaker 1: we can potentially reach an agreement. Well, we're not reaching one.
- 32:24Speaker 1: He's been saying that for a long period of time.
- 32:25Speaker 1: And if we're not reaching one, then you have people
- 32:32Speaker 1: that say he's got to pump it up militarily speaking.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I mean, I've heard everything from people saying you got
- 32:38Speaker 1: to start the bombing campaign again. There's no way you're
- 32:41Speaker 1: going to do this without putting some boots on the ground.
- 32:43Speaker 1: You have people talking about nuclear weapons. I mean, you've
- 32:46Speaker 1: got all kinds of stuff going on that people are saying,
- 32:49Speaker 1: but they want to see this thing reach a conclusion
- 32:51Speaker 1: as opposed to just drag on and on and on.
- 32:57Speaker 1: And then you've got other people that basically say, just
- 33:01Speaker 1: get out of there. But these experts, as I like
- 33:08Speaker 1: to inform you, if you follow these oil analysts, as
- 33:14Speaker 1: I've been telling you on the program over the last
- 33:15Speaker 1: week or so, all oil is an oil, different types
- 33:19Speaker 1: of oil, light crude, heavy crude. You need heavy crude
- 33:23Speaker 1: for diesel, which is needed in trucking, shipping, heavy crude
- 33:29Speaker 1: for airline gas, aviation fuel. And we in the United
- 33:36Speaker 1: States have light crude. So that's why we export so
- 33:41Speaker 1: much of our oil and import oil. That's why we
- 33:47Speaker 1: import more than we export because we need the heavy crude.
- 33:52Speaker 1: So we're not really oil-wise energy independent. And then through
- 33:57Speaker 1: our refineries, we're able to use that combination somehow to
- 34:01Speaker 1: get what we need. Or at least that's what they're saying.
- 34:06Speaker 1: So then, as I say, you look at these experts
- 34:08Speaker 1: and say, if this thing drags on, and who knows
- 34:11Speaker 1: after today where Trump vows a response that this thing
- 34:13Speaker 1: could very well drag on, where that will lead us
- 34:18Speaker 1: as far as reaching what they call tank bottom here
- 34:22Speaker 1: in our country and what that will do to gasoline
- 34:24Speaker 1: prices and or inflation. And then people saying what then
- 34:30Speaker 1: happens at the midterms if he loses the Senate's or Congress,
- 34:36Speaker 1: or both houses, then what happens over the next two years?
- 34:46Speaker 1: Trump supporters who say they want the American agenda, and
- 34:49Speaker 1: they want affordability, and are we going back to this
- 34:52Speaker 1: wacko stuff of the Democrats? It's a mess. It's an
- 34:55Speaker 1: absolute mess. So we shall see. I mean, as this
- 35:00Speaker 1: thing drags on, and it looks like it's, I mean,
- 35:02Speaker 1: Iran just keeps stringing you along. Doesn't seem like they're
- 35:06Speaker 1: interested in reaching any type of an agreement. Maybe they're
- 35:09Speaker 1: playing a waiting game knowing the midterms are coming. And
- 35:11Speaker 1: you got Trump looking for a way out of this,
- 35:14Speaker 1: I suspect, but it just seems to get more intense
- 35:17Speaker 1: as time goes on. But as time goes on, I
- 35:20Speaker 1: think our costs, inflation-wise and energy-wise, are just going to
- 35:25Speaker 1: continue to go up. And that means everything costs more
- 35:28Speaker 1: from airline tickets to groceries and all that kind of stuff. Comments,
- 35:35Speaker 1: 330-729-9977 will get you through to us. So I just
- 35:37Speaker 1: want to give you the latest on that verdict that
- 35:44Speaker 1: took place and also the latest as far as this
- 35:47Speaker 1: situation just kind of heats up more as far as
- 35:50Speaker 1: Iran is concerned with shooting down this U.S. Apache helicopter.
- 35:57Speaker 1: All right, enough. Shut up, Ron, and take some calls. Okay,
- 36:01Speaker 1: I will. 449 in the afternoon. I lost my place,
- 36:04Speaker 1: so let me just start here. You're on here. Yeah,
- 36:07Speaker 1: it's me. Okay. I think I'm done with you. But
- 36:11Speaker 1: you can go ahead. I thought I was done with you.
- 36:13Speaker 1: But go ahead, make your thoughts, and then I'll move on.
- 36:15Speaker 3: No, you're not done with me, no. I get one minute.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Okay, go.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Yesterday when he went to New York and went to
- 36:21Speaker 3: the game, first of all, he's not a basketball fan.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Second of all, all those people, New Yorkers, who haven't had–
- 36:30Speaker 3: a New York Knicks home game in a championship for
- 36:34Speaker 3: 25 years, were unable to even go to those bars
- 36:36Speaker 3: and enjoy themselves because he was in town. And when
- 36:40Speaker 3: he was in town during the national anthem for the
- 36:42Speaker 3: umpteenth time, he saluted that flag. That is not correct.
- 36:48Speaker 3: He has to put his hand over his heart. Okay,
- 36:52Speaker 3: I'm very much a ready person when it comes to that.
- 36:55Speaker 1: All right, he went to the game. It's odd that
- 36:59Speaker 1: usually when he goes through this stuff, he just gets
- 37:01Speaker 1: a lot of cheers and that kind of stuff. Well,
- 37:04Speaker 1: when he went to the game, he got some cheers
- 37:05Speaker 1: and some boos.
- 37:07Speaker 3: He got a lot more boos. He's a football fan.
- 37:10Speaker 3: He's not a basketball fan. He's a football fan.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Well, he's a New Yorker. Make no mistake.
- 37:15Speaker 3: He's a New Yorker, but again, I'm going to argue
- 37:17Speaker 3: a point with you. New York doesn't want him there. Okay,
- 37:19Speaker 3: I mean, maybe Pennsylvania doesn't want me there. That's just
- 37:22Speaker 3: the way it is. I'm not going to go to
- 37:24Speaker 3: PA if I'm not wanted. And anyway, the point is
- 37:27Speaker 3: that not even halfway through the game, he fell asleep,
- 37:30Speaker 3: and they had to leave. So he left early. So
- 37:32Speaker 3: he was just coming there for that 45 minutes to
- 37:36Speaker 3: screw everybody's night up. That's selfish. That's narcissistic, and I
- 37:40Speaker 3: don't like it. Okay, and at that point, and you
- 37:44Speaker 3: can respond to these, the thing about the war, listen,
- 37:48Speaker 3: We buried that, those, any of the uranium or the plutonium,
- 37:50Speaker 3: we buried it. Okay, there should be no reason an
- 37:53Speaker 3: Apache helicopter should be in the air in the first place.
- 37:56Speaker 3: This is getting old. It's getting tiresome. I'm tired of
- 37:59Speaker 3: the threats. And, you know, a couple of your callers,
- 38:02Speaker 3: I'm not going to name any names. I'm not attacking anybody.
- 38:04Speaker 3: But they said, well, we ought to just, since we
- 38:06Speaker 3: bombed them already, that we might as well just take
- 38:09Speaker 3: them all out. So you're talking about children, innocent people that.
- 38:14Speaker 2: You want to kill.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Okay, I'm not going to deliberate too much more on that.
- 38:16Speaker 3: What gives us the right to do that? And then
- 38:19Speaker 3: what are you going to do? Are you going to
- 38:20Speaker 3: wipe 91 million people off the face of the earth
- 38:22Speaker 3: and not think that there's going to be a consequence
- 38:23Speaker 3: to that? Second of all, you know, the thing is,
- 38:27Speaker 3: and a couple of people said, well, if they don't
- 38:29Speaker 3: establish a nuclear weapon, they'll just buy it from Russia
- 38:33Speaker 3: or China. What was the purpose of us going there
- 38:36Speaker 3: in the first place? If they were to say they
- 38:37Speaker 3: can get a nuclear weapon anyway.
- 38:39Speaker 1: There you go. I got to pause. Thank you, JJ.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN. IDO, 456
- 38:50Speaker 1: in the afternoon. We'll be here tonight till 6 o'clock.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Guardians pregame after the break at 6. First pitch around
- 38:57Speaker 1: 6.30 tonight here on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. So keep that
- 39:01Speaker 1: in mind. Another hour of your conversations. We'll be conversating
- 39:05Speaker 1: between 5 and 6 tonight on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. So
- 39:10Speaker 1: keep that in mind. Roy, we'll pick it up. Right
- 39:12Speaker 1: after the news break, I want to talk to you
- 39:13Speaker 1: for just a bit about the good folks at Stadium
- 39:16Speaker 1: GM in the heart of Salem. It's one of those
- 39:19Speaker 1: places that I can brag about because I've been a
- 39:21Speaker 1: longtime customer of Stadium GM in Salem. And I encourage
- 39:26Speaker 1: you to visit Stadium GM in Salem as well. Why
- 39:29Speaker 1: do I encourage you? you to do that? Because you
- 39:31Speaker 1: won't be treated better anywhere else. First of all, it's
- 39:33Speaker 1: not a dealership that's part of a large conglomerate, so
- 39:37Speaker 1: you get kind of lost in the mix. It's a
- 39:40Speaker 1: dealership where you find everything that General Motors makes. Everything.
- 39:44Speaker 1: So if you're looking for Buick, Cadillac, GMC or Chevy.
- 39:48Speaker 1: You'll find it at Stadium GM in the heart of Salem,
- 39:50Speaker 1: all under one roof. And you'll find the attitude that
- 39:53Speaker 1: appreciates your business and wants to keep your business and
- 39:55Speaker 1: wants your business and your family's business. And with that attitude,
- 39:59Speaker 1: you know they're going to be treating you right. Whether
- 40:01Speaker 1: that's the service department or the sales department, it doesn't matter.
- 40:04Speaker 1: It's why I can tell you as a customer of
- 40:07Speaker 1: Stadium GM, that's why we are customers. From buying our
- 40:11Speaker 1: Chevy Cruzes there to our Chevy Equinox, you can't be
- 40:15Speaker 1: treated better by a group of people. With a great
- 40:18Speaker 1: selection and just the attitude is what I find refreshing.
- 40:21Speaker 1: And by the way, you can see the used cars, trucks,
- 40:25Speaker 1: and SUVs or the new products online at StadiumGM.com. Carfax
- 40:29Speaker 1: reports are there for you as well. So it's a
- 40:32Speaker 1: great dealership. So if you're in the market for a vehicle,
- 40:35Speaker 1: why not make it a joy on yourself and visit
- 40:37Speaker 1: Shorty Navarro and Mike Hudak and the entire gang. at
- 40:41Speaker 1: Stadium GM in the heart of Salem. Let me pause
- 40:43Speaker 1: for the headlines at 5, then I'll come back with more.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Another hour here on NewsRadio 570 WKBN until the Guardians pregame.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Ron Furt from the Kingdom of Mahoning, NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 41:00Speaker 6: From ABC News, I'm Lindsay Davis, anchor of Prime, streaming
- 41:05Speaker 6: weeknights on ABC News Live. President Trump is blaming Iran
- 41:08Speaker 6: for this morning's downing of an Apache Air Army helicopter
- 41:12Speaker 6: near the Strait of Hormuz. More from ABC's Karen Travers
- 41:14Speaker 6: at the White House.
- 41:15Speaker 7: The president posted on social media that the two pilots
- 41:18Speaker 7: involved were safe and uninjured. But he now says that
- 41:22Speaker 7: the United States, quote, must of necessity respond to this attack.
- 41:27Speaker 6: He does not get specific.
- 41:29Speaker 7: In his social media post, and the White House hasn't
- 41:31Speaker 7: responded to our questions about this, about what he might
- 41:34Speaker 7: do now against Iran because of this takedown of the helicopter.
- 41:39Speaker 6: A Texas jury deliberated three hours before finding teenager Carmelo
- 41:43Speaker 6: Anthony guilty of murder. Jurors didn't buy his claim of
- 41:46Speaker 6: self-defense in the stabbing of Austin Metcalf at a high
- 41:49Speaker 6: school track meet last year. ABC News legal contributor Brian Buckmeyer.
- 41:53Speaker 8: It's clear that the prosecution's closing argument, getting the last word,
- 41:56Speaker 8: saying that swift justice needed to be met and that
- 41:59Speaker 8: this was not self-defense, the idea of bringing a knife
- 42:02Speaker 8: to a fist fight, the proportionality of the self-defense is
- 42:05Speaker 8: too high. If someone attacks you with their fists, you're
- 42:08Speaker 8: supposed to respond with your fists. If someone attacks you
- 42:09Speaker 8: with deadly force, like a knife or a gun, you
- 42:12Speaker 8: can do that, but you can't escalate it. And so
- 42:14Speaker 8: what this verdict tells me is that the jury did
- 42:16Speaker 8: not buy the self-defense claim. They thought that Carmelian escalated
- 42:19Speaker 8: this too high and that he's guilty of murder.
- 42:21Speaker 6: They're voting today in primaries in four states. Control of
- 42:23Speaker 6: the Senate could fall on Maine voters as they decide
- 42:26Speaker 6: if they can overlook recent allegations about frontrunner Graham Plattner.
- 42:29Speaker 6: The first four people on the next moon mission just
- 42:32Speaker 6: got their orders.
- 42:33Speaker 9: We are returning to the moon. a grand adventure back
- 42:37Speaker 9: to the lunar surface to build a moon base and
- 42:39Speaker 9: to do so for all of its scientific, its economic potential,
- 42:42Speaker 9: and to master the skills for where we will inevitably
- 42:45Speaker 9: go next.
- 42:46Speaker 6: The announcement from NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, the Artemis III
- 42:50Speaker 6: crew includes three Americans and one Italian astronaut. They will
- 42:53Speaker 6: dock with a moon module for an eventual boots down
- 42:56Speaker 6: on the lunar surface. You're listening to ABC News.
