- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Episode 60 — can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? So today I thought we'd take a little imaginary trip somewhere fun. Luna: Ooh, where to? Lucas: To the zoo! We'll learn the names of a few animals in Spanish. Luna: Oh, I love the zoo! Okay, let's do it. Lucas: Great. So first up: the lion. In Spanish, it's el león. Luna: El león. That sounds strong. Lucas: It does. Say it with me: el león. Luna: El león. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you want to say 'Look at the lion,' you can say 'Mira el león.' Let's try it. Luna: Mira el león. Lucas: Exactly. Mira el león. Good job. Luna: So 'mira' means 'look'? Lucas: Yes, it's the informal command for 'look.' So 'Mira el león.' Now, next animal — the elephant. In Spanish, it's el elefante. Luna: El elefante. That's really close to English. Lucas: It is. Let's use it in a sentence: 'El elefante es grande.' That means 'The elephant is big.' Repeat after me: El elefante es grande. Luna: El elefante es grande. Lucas: Great. So 'grande' means big. Now, the giraffe — in Spanish, it's la jirafa. Luna: La jirafa. That's feminine, right? With 'la'. Lucas: Exactly. So it's la jirafa. Can you say 'Mira la jirafa'? Luna: Mira la jirafa. Lucas: Perfect. And last one for today — the monkey. In Spanish, it's el mono. Luna: El mono. That's a fun word. Lucas: It is. So let's put it all together in a mini story. Imagine you're at the zoo with a friend. You see a lion, an elephant, a giraffe, and a monkey. Let's practice. Luna: Okay, I'll be the friend. Lucas: I'll point and say 'Mira el león.' Then you say 'El león es grande.' Ready? Luna: Yep. Lucas: Mira el león. Luna: El león es grande. Lucas: Good. Now, 'Mira el elefante.' Luna: El elefante es grande. Lucas: Nice. 'Mira la jirafa.' Luna: La jirafa es alta. Wait, can I say that? 'Alta' means tall? Lucas: Yes! That's actually a great word. La jirafa es alta — the giraffe is tall. You're learning fast. Luna: Thanks. And 'Mira el mono'? Lucas: Exactly. Say it. Luna: Mira el mono. El mono es pequeño. Lucas: Pequeño means small. Perfect. You just used 'grande,' 'alta,' and 'pequeño' naturally. Luna: That was fun. Can we do one more round? Lucas: Sure. I'll say the animal, you say the sentence. Luna: Okay. Lucas: El león. Luna: El león es grande. Lucas: El elefante. Luna: El elefante es grande. Lucas: La jirafa. Luna: La jirafa es alta. Lucas: El mono. Luna: El mono es pequeño. Lucas: You did great. Lucas: Perfect. And the sentence 'Look at the lion'? Luna: Mira el león. Lucas: And 'The elephant is big'? Luna: El elefante es grande. Lucas: Excellent.
