- 0:00Speaker 1: There's no way to make porn more ikey. Oh yeah,
- 0:03Speaker 1: hold my beer. Oh it's one more thing.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Oh, it's off putting.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Just when you think humanity's achieved all it can achieve,
- 0:15Speaker 1: whether it's exploring the cosmos, curing disease, or making porn
- 0:19Speaker 1: super ikey humans come through.
- 0:23Speaker 2: That was your most off putting intro ever.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you, thank you very much.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I think about this because I saw this just a
- 0:32Speaker 2: week or so ago, Chris Rock special from several years
- 0:35Speaker 2: back after he got divorced, and he was talking about
- 0:38Speaker 2: how he was a porn addict in the and crowd
- 0:42Speaker 2: kind of groaned and he said, oh, fifty billion dollar
- 0:45Speaker 2: business and I'm the only one. And I thought that
- 0:47Speaker 2: is an interesting thing about that. I mean, it is
- 0:50Speaker 2: a gazillion dollar business, so there's there are a lot
- 0:54Speaker 2: of users out there, but it's not a commonly talked
- 0:56Speaker 2: about thing.
- 0:57Speaker 1: For whatever reason, this discussion is being bad about in
- 1:00Speaker 1: various places, the effect AI's having and going to have
- 1:04Speaker 1: on porn, deep fakes, generating video that never existed, text
- 1:09Speaker 1: of video production, that sort of thing.
- 1:11Speaker 2: By the way, since me talking about it being a
- 1:13Speaker 2: highly profitable business, how does it, how does porn make money.
- 1:18Speaker 1: There's subscription, there's ads supported. It's like any other kind
- 1:24Speaker 1: of well, it's it's similar to other kinds of entertainment,
- 1:27Speaker 1: I guess. But so this happens to be from the
- 1:29Speaker 1: Washington Post. But this article starts off with dozens of
- 1:33Speaker 1: porn stars in lingerie lining the convention hall in Las
- 1:36Speaker 1: Vegas as people who bought eighty five dollars tickets and
- 1:39Speaker 1: then waited in line can meet their favorite porus. And
- 1:46Speaker 1: here's this dude who's seventy two years old. Retired school
- 1:50Speaker 1: teacher flew from Omaha to Las Vegas to meet this
- 1:54Speaker 1: one mattress actress goal.
- 1:56Speaker 2: We interviewed a famous porn star once years ago in
- 1:59Speaker 2: Studio Carrera, who was a big deal, like in the nineties,
- 2:02Speaker 2: I guess. Anyway, I always remember her saying, you know
- 2:04Speaker 2: what a porn star's favorite position is, and she held
- 2:07Speaker 2: out her hand give me my money, and I just
- 2:10Speaker 2: for some reason that stuck in my head is just
- 2:12Speaker 2: like yeah, I mean, that's what the whole thing is.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And it's just so tawdry. For those reasons, you're gonna
- 2:17Speaker 2: what do you go to say to your favorite porn
- 2:19Speaker 2: star when you fly to Las Vegas, and you finally
- 2:21Speaker 2: get to meet him, what would you say?
- 2:23Speaker 1: Oh? Well, Jack, they'd been chatting online for months. He
- 2:28Speaker 1: was looking forward to their first in person meeting.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Nice job, fornicating in front of a camera. I really
- 2:34Speaker 2: like it.
- 2:35Speaker 4: I really like it when you do this.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Right. So this old fellow approached the table where the
- 2:41Speaker 1: gal who uses a stage name was signing autographs that
- 2:43Speaker 1: to exchange the hug. They talked for ten minutes before
- 2:46Speaker 1: she turned to her next fan, who gifted her a
- 2:48Speaker 1: vape pen, and the old fellow wandered away. Did she
- 2:51Speaker 1: remember him from their online chats? It's hard to keep
- 2:53Speaker 1: people straight, she replied, smiling.
- 2:55Speaker 3: She took a hit of the vape.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Oh my god, Oh oh god, that this is hurting
- 3:01Speaker 5: my heart. Can you imagine the client tell of this? Uh, convent,
- 3:07Speaker 5: sad is the is the key worst sad? You've checked
- 3:11Speaker 5: the box sad by showing up?
- 3:14Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah.
- 3:16Speaker 1: So they go through some of the like the history
- 3:19Speaker 1: of online porn and and how AI is going to
- 3:24Speaker 1: do the stuff I briefly mentioned before. I thought this
- 3:26Speaker 1: was actually intriguing. The trickiest question may be how to
- 3:30Speaker 1: prevent abuse of AI porn by which they mean, AI
- 3:34Speaker 1: generators have technical technological boundaries, but they don't have morals,
- 3:37Speaker 1: and it's relatively easy for users to trick them quote
- 3:40Speaker 1: unquote into creating content that depicts violence, rape, sex with children,
- 3:44Speaker 1: or a celebrity or even a crush from work who
- 3:47Speaker 1: never consented to appear that sort of thing.
- 3:50Speaker 2: There's no stop in that. I mean, just that's just
- 3:52Speaker 2: gonna happen.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And then they talk about whether it'll replace real human
- 3:58Speaker 1: performers with.
- 4:00Speaker 3: With AI skanks uh to some extent.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, And then they go into this history of
- 4:08Speaker 1: this guy. Let's see, where does that part start. Stephen Jones,
- 4:15Speaker 1: who at last year's AVN conference as adult video something.
- 4:20Speaker 3: What's the I don't remember. I could look, but I
- 4:23Speaker 3: don't care.
- 4:24Speaker 1: His peers looked at him like he was crazy when
- 4:27Speaker 1: he brought up AI opportunities.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Nobody was interested. This year. He's been the Bell of
- 4:31Speaker 3: the Ball.
- 4:33Speaker 1: He was once the owner and operator of once Pop
- 4:38Speaker 1: Bell of the Balls. I get it, I get what
- 4:40Speaker 1: you're trying to say, and then yes, Michael, Yes, Michael,
- 4:45Speaker 1: you nailed it. Jones is the owner and operator of
- 4:52Speaker 1: a once popular collection of porn websites. He entered the
- 4:54Speaker 1: business in nineteen ninety nine with a site dedicated to
- 4:56Speaker 1: sexy snapshots of college students.
- 4:58Speaker 4: He renamed himself it's legally light speed.
- 5:03Speaker 2: That's a good name. Listen to this, It's a sexy name.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Within seven years, the married father of two was operating
- 5:10Speaker 1: a collection more than thirty porn sites and making half
- 5:12Speaker 1: a million dollars a month.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Oh my god, half mill a month.
- 5:18Speaker 1: By twenty thirteen, it all fell apart. The self described
- 5:21Speaker 1: science fiction nerd watched his revenue dry up after Pornhub,
- 5:25Speaker 1: which he refers to as the Evil Empire, started hosting
- 5:27Speaker 1: free content. He ended up leaving the adult industry for
- 5:30Speaker 1: a mainstream tech job.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I hope he saved some of his money when he
- 5:33Speaker 2: was making half million a month.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Wow.
- 5:36Speaker 1: But then the tides of fate turned again in his favor.
- 5:39Speaker 1: His love for tech and shows like Star Trek made
- 5:41Speaker 1: him an early believer in the power of AI to
- 5:44Speaker 1: change the world for good. But then it occurred to me,
- 5:46Speaker 1: he wait a minute, Wait a minute, waited my old
- 5:49Speaker 1: job porn Wait a minute. He called up his old
- 5:52Speaker 1: business partner. The two immediately spent about five hundred and
- 5:54Speaker 1: fifty grand securing web domains for porn dot Ai, deepfake
- 5:59Speaker 1: dot Com, and deepfakes dot Com.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Light speed was back.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Wow, the sirens song of porn lured him back, and
- 6:08Speaker 2: the money a tremendous amount of money. Huh.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Help from an angel investor he will not name, he
- 6:14Speaker 1: hired five employees and a handful of offshore contractors and
- 6:16Speaker 1: started building an image engine trained on bundles of freely
- 6:20Speaker 1: available pornographic images, as well as thousands of nude photos
- 6:23Speaker 1: from Joan's own collection. Why do you have a collection photos?
- 6:29Speaker 2: Do you have any sense of how hard those deep
- 6:31Speaker 2: fakes are to do? And however hard they are, I'd
- 6:34Speaker 2: probably be effortless in a year or two. Anybody could
- 6:37Speaker 2: probably do it.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I know, not specifically, but I've certainly gotten the sense
- 6:42Speaker 1: that it's about as hard as learning four chords on
- 6:45Speaker 1: the guitar. Put a couple of weeks of decent effort
- 6:49Speaker 1: into it and you'll have it. Well.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Based on that story about Sora the other day, that's
- 6:53Speaker 2: the text to video technology that's out there that made
- 6:57Speaker 2: Tyler Perry cancel is nearly billion dollars movie studio thing
- 7:01Speaker 2: because he can just do it with AI. Now, I
- 7:03Speaker 2: gotta believe it won't be very long, so somebody will
- 7:06Speaker 2: be able to say, as unpalatable as this is, you know,
- 7:11Speaker 2: make me a porn with Taylor Swift doing blah blah blah,
- 7:14Speaker 2: and it just will and there'll be nobody involved other
- 7:17Speaker 2: than your mind. Right, and then who's gonna How's anybody
- 7:22Speaker 2: gonna profit at all from that?
- 7:24Speaker 4: Right?
- 7:25Speaker 3: I would agree.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I think a guy like this ought to make his
- 7:27Speaker 1: money while he can, because it's going to be in
- 7:29Speaker 1: every home, well, every homer it's desired. So now, Jones
- 7:34Speaker 1: describes his site that's the aforementioned rich purveyor of perv.
- 7:40Speaker 2: B Arthur in a clown suit.
- 7:41Speaker 1: You hear me, Michael, and I hear it doing things
- 7:44Speaker 1: that are normally not seen outside of it anyway. He
- 7:47Speaker 1: describes the site as an artist's community where people can
- 7:50Speaker 1: explore their sexualities and fantasies in a safe space. Then
- 7:55Speaker 1: comes AI generated video, porn's holy grail, he says, eventually
- 8:00Speaker 1: interactive with users giving instructions to lifelike automated performers.
- 8:04Speaker 2: That's interesting that it's porn's holy grail when it will
- 8:07Speaker 2: absolutely make the industry not financially tenable at all. I mean,
- 8:15Speaker 2: it'll be great for the consumer. Is that the right
- 8:17Speaker 2: term for people who use porn? But I don't see
- 8:21Speaker 2: how to be any industry at all in terms of
- 8:23Speaker 2: anybody making any money.
- 8:25Speaker 1: But then they get into how guys get allowed around
- 8:29Speaker 1: the guidelines too that are trying to prevent them producing
- 8:32Speaker 1: anything that looks like child porn?
- 8:34Speaker 5: Right?
- 8:34Speaker 2: How is the easy to don't? This is obviously a
- 8:38Speaker 2: very serious conversation when you get into the child porn stuff.
- 8:41Speaker 2: But is it better if the wakadoo's out there who
- 8:46Speaker 2: are into kids for sex? Which is so horrible and
- 8:48Speaker 2: I want them all locked up forever because I don't
- 8:50Speaker 2: believe there's any fixing those people. But is it better
- 8:53Speaker 2: if you can make fake child porn that they can
- 8:55Speaker 2: watch so nobody is abused? Is that better? Or is it,
- 8:59Speaker 2: you know, worse? I don't actually addiction. Yeah, Yeah, I
- 9:02Speaker 2: don't actually know.
- 9:04Speaker 3: That's a really interesting question and a troubling one. Obviously.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I would think with the penalties being as stiff as
- 9:09Speaker 2: they are for producing or having child porn, being able
- 9:13Speaker 2: to make fake stuff that's believable would be good for society,
- 9:17Speaker 2: But I'm not certain of that.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm trying to think about and it's a dark,
- 9:23Speaker 1: dark place the mind of somebody who might be like
- 9:27Speaker 1: a hardcore child porn perv. And I'd imagine that they
- 9:32Speaker 1: would pay more or extra for quote unquote legits.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I don't even want to say this sentence, but it
- 9:38Speaker 2: is the abuse part of the thrill. Yeah, so they
- 9:40Speaker 2: got to know, like the reality of it.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Yeah, well, ye's awful.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yeah, the more I think about it, and it is
- 9:47Speaker 1: absolutely awful. The more I think about it, Yeah, I mean,
- 9:49Speaker 1: it's an entirely different experience watching somebody shot in a movie,
- 9:53Speaker 1: which I've seen a thousand times, that somebody shot to
- 9:55Speaker 1: death in real life.
- 9:56Speaker 2: That's pretty decent point.
- 9:58Speaker 1: The one that's like, oh too bad dead, and the
- 10:00Speaker 1: other one is just you won't stop thinking about it
- 10:02Speaker 1: for a very long time.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Right, even if even if the fake one was much
- 10:07Speaker 2: more graphic, believable.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Well lived, Oh god, I can't even the.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Real one has more effect. I'm talking about the murder,
- 10:14Speaker 2: not the child born. No jeez, oh okay, well I
- 10:17Speaker 2: was picturing the murder. Yeah, I don't know. I don't.
- 10:21Speaker 2: I don't see how you're gonna stop this stuff unless
- 10:24Speaker 2: you're gonna have the penalties be so high that nobody
- 10:29Speaker 2: would risk it. How are you going to stop high
- 10:31Speaker 2: school kids from having, you know, creating videos about their classmates?
- 10:37Speaker 3: Right?
- 10:37Speaker 1: Like I've said before, I just think the world's going
- 10:39Speaker 1: to have to adjust to it. Unless there's some unforeseeable
- 10:42Speaker 1: by me at least way to prevent this sort of
- 10:44Speaker 1: thing from happening, I just don't think there is.
- 10:46Speaker 3: And then the next thing that this.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Article gets into is the anxiety among sex workers that
- 10:50Speaker 1: their industry might be going away.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Getting the radio business and see how it feels.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Sure now the radio business is healthier than ever a
- 11:00Speaker 1: jackets thriving straight up.
- 11:02Speaker 2: And I've been all flat on my brocketing, I've been
- 11:05Speaker 2: flat on my back staring at the Ceiland dream in
- 11:07Speaker 2: England for a long time. In this industry, that wild
- 11:11Speaker 2: saying is roughly but how is how is it going
- 11:17Speaker 2: to affect the actual sex workers this.
- 11:20Speaker 1: There won't be any need for them, all right. Just
- 11:24Speaker 1: have an AI creation that's your your particular dream girl
- 11:28Speaker 1: or guy or both or neither, depending on which way
- 11:30Speaker 1: you swing.
- 11:32Speaker 2: God dang it, it's it's possible. The future, and by
- 11:36Speaker 2: the future, I mean next year is going to be
- 11:39Speaker 2: so weird and disturbing that we can can't even hardly
- 11:44Speaker 2: function as a as a beast anymore humans.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Through and this will be my final comment. Through most
- 11:52Speaker 1: of my life, both childhood and adult, I've thought what
- 11:55Speaker 1: was going to end mankind would be a nuclear holocaust.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Now I'm feeling like they're four or five competing scenarios
- 12:02Speaker 1: for how humans cease to exist or at least become
- 12:07Speaker 1: no more significant to a species on Earth than say
- 12:10Speaker 1: the humble muskrat, for instance.
- 12:13Speaker 2: A whole bunch of people alone in their homes on
- 12:15Speaker 2: fentanyl having AI sex. Yeah, it sounds like a good
- 12:19Speaker 2: future for a species.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Sounds very fulfilling. Yeah right, tell you what.
- 12:27Speaker 1: There are basic precepts that every major religion and religion
- 12:32Speaker 1: and philosophy share. I would suggest you figure out what
- 12:35Speaker 1: they are and live your life according to them.
- 12:38Speaker 3: You will be happier.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Joe Biden's AI request AI porn requests, Oh come on,
- 12:45Speaker 5: I want Greta Garbo's head on a woman showing some
- 12:49Speaker 5: bare ankle.
- 12:52Speaker 4: That I had a kef care.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Whoah, Well, I guess that's it.
