- 0:37Speaker 4: wake up sort of in a that semi sleepy I
- 0:41Speaker 4: was dreaming about anyway that it had given me cancer, right,
- 0:44Speaker 4: I can't having a conversation before I went to get being.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Eventually I remembered that part of it. I was like, oh,
- 0:49Speaker 4: is that a message from God? Yeah, but I'm hoping
- 0:53Speaker 4: I've got a couple more weeks before before you die,
- 0:56Speaker 4: before I get cancer? Yeah, yeah, me before I think.
- 1:01Speaker 4: I hope I'm okay for a little while. Yeah, but
- 1:05Speaker 4: it's got to go, because it's got the thing about it, Jasons,
- 1:07Speaker 4: It's got to go at some point, doesn't I know, Mate,
- 1:10Speaker 4: We're not going to smoke and forever until we do
- 1:13Speaker 4: get cancer. Is that what we're doing?
- 1:15Speaker 3: Well, this is the thing that doing This is the
- 1:17Speaker 3: thing I'm struggling with in my head. Get a pug
- 1:19Speaker 3: Son by the way, Hey you're looking so good man.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Thanks A bit later. I do battle with that I
- 1:28Speaker 1: have in my head.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Sometimes the thought is, oh, for fuck's sake, just smoke,
- 1:35Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Look, it's what.
- 1:38Speaker 1: You do, Just do it. But I really wanted to
- 1:41Speaker 1: give up.
- 1:41Speaker 3: But having said that, I have cut back dramatically, so
- 1:46Speaker 3: I'm talking two.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Or three a day.
- 1:48Speaker 4: It doesn't matter though, that doesn't It doesn't.
- 1:53Speaker 3: I'm really disappointed in myself because I should be for
- 1:56Speaker 3: the first time ever actually, because you know it's been
- 2:00Speaker 3: it hasn't been that difficult giving up, But this time
- 2:02Speaker 3: there was just.
- 2:05Speaker 1: A real unwillingness to let that go.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought the song around I was. I was
- 2:09Speaker 4: feeling pretty good about it. I had a strong reason. Yes, Yeah,
- 2:14Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 2:15Speaker 1: How's your smoking game? Pack son?
- 2:17Speaker 6: Horrific?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah? What are you packing up?
- 2:23Speaker 4: Stress?
- 2:23Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what it is for me, Like I'll be
- 2:27Speaker 3: I did decide right, I'm not going to smoke anymore,
- 2:31Speaker 3: and I've almost gone a day and then something happened.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I went right straight back to yeah, going by some.
- 2:38Speaker 6: More darries, I think, arriving his addiction.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Yeah it's addiction.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it is.
- 2:45Speaker 4: It is. I'm afraid.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I'm addiction.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Is you're looking for any expert, any excuse to keep
- 2:54Speaker 4: on doing it, and the slightest thing you're like, ahh
- 2:58Speaker 4: yeah mate, now it's too stressful.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it's you know, like when I was on the
- 3:03Speaker 3: pestl or something and to be like, ah, I just
- 3:08Speaker 3: it's just such a shitty day, and what else is.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Here to do? You know, it's of thing to be
- 3:12Speaker 1: raining and then.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Or you know, something really awesome what happened, So you'd
- 3:15Speaker 3: be celebrating, you know, or you're.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Just down in the dumpsy and needed a bit of
- 3:19Speaker 1: a peck.
- 3:19Speaker 6: Me.
- 3:20Speaker 1: There was never any non reason for doing it.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah. And I'm looking at my Instagram and I
- 3:26Speaker 4: was posting I posted some what is it seven years ago?
- 3:32Speaker 4: Seven years ago of me having my last cigarette? Holy ago.
- 3:38Speaker 4: So I've been going through the treadmill. It's a ba
- 3:43Speaker 4: a long time. It's ridiculous. Yeah, it's ridiculous.
- 3:48Speaker 3: One of the things I remember too, like when I've
- 3:51Speaker 3: gone away for a break, like I just did the
- 3:53Speaker 3: B y C podcast. And because when I'm on break,
- 3:56Speaker 3: I don't really talk. I find that when I come back,
- 4:00Speaker 3: my voice fucks out on me really badly. It's almost
- 4:03Speaker 3: like my vocal cords need a bit of time to
- 4:05Speaker 3: readjust to talking again.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Sure it's weird.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Man, smoking. Yeah, smoking, Get some smoking in you. Yeah,
- 4:15Speaker 4: I don't know what would be really great, because the
- 4:17Speaker 4: thing about it is is I can't even enjoy it
- 4:20Speaker 4: because I'm so I hate myself so much for smoking
- 4:23Speaker 4: that I'm not even enjoying the smoking. Yeah, that's what
- 4:27Speaker 4: I'm going through now, which I haven't had. I haven't
- 4:28Speaker 4: had before.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah, there's certainly cigarettes has previously discussed, Like you mid
- 4:35Speaker 3: during the day, cigarettes don't eat them beginning of the day.
- 4:40Speaker 1: First thing up, coffee, give me a dice delicious.
- 4:43Speaker 4: But as I say, while I'm having if I was
- 4:45Speaker 4: having that, i'd be now I'm feeling guilty.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Right, I saw. I don't feel guilty about that one
- 4:49Speaker 1: end of the day after work.
- 4:50Speaker 4: What do you think about the cancer side of things?
- 4:52Speaker 4: Does it cross your mind at all? Because you're I
- 4:53Speaker 4: mean obviously younger than me, but you're still no spring chicken.
- 4:56Speaker 4: If I could be so bold, yeah, cross your mind. Fact,
- 5:02Speaker 4: yes it does. What's your thought process there?
- 5:07Speaker 1: Denial?
- 5:08Speaker 5: Ah?
- 5:08Speaker 4: Good? Yeah, like she'll be right or yeah yeah, like
- 5:13Speaker 4: something die crossing the road.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I actually had a friend bullshit.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Who got diagnosed with cancer and was a smoker, and
- 5:30Speaker 3: they felt so ridiculous carrying on with smoking and so
- 5:38Speaker 3: hypocritical when they've already been diagnosed that they gave up
- 5:42Speaker 3: and never started.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Again about how they go with the cancer. They got
- 5:47Speaker 4: through it, and was it caused by the smoking?
- 5:49Speaker 5: Not?
- 5:50Speaker 1: No, not necessarily.
- 5:51Speaker 4: I saw the study the other It was a few
- 5:53Speaker 4: weeks ago now, but that says that you can smoke
- 5:56Speaker 4: until you're thirty five. If you smoke until you're thirty
- 5:58Speaker 4: five and you quit, you will have no adverse reaction
- 6:01Speaker 4: to it at all, because your body's got time to
- 6:03Speaker 4: fully repair itself.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Well, I think it takes I could be wrong here,
- 6:08Speaker 3: like fifteen years or something for your lungs to sort
- 6:12Speaker 3: of recover if you've been a long time smoker.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I think at our age were cooked.
- 6:16Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, I mean my lungs are fucked, they're poked.
- 6:20Speaker 4: But it must be the number of cigarettes, because once
- 6:22Speaker 4: that worked out on that thirty five years, surely it's
- 6:24Speaker 4: not I can smoke a billion cigarettes a day until
- 6:27Speaker 4: I'm thirty five. Yeah, it must be the number of
- 6:29Speaker 4: cigarettes that you smoke.
- 6:31Speaker 3: But then again, you see, it's like I I think
- 6:34Speaker 3: of my grandfather who started when he was eight, yes,
- 6:38Speaker 3: and smoke till he was ninety five or there about this.
- 6:44Speaker 6: Eight is insane.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Still it still blows my mind.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Right, And they said to him, I think it was
- 6:50Speaker 3: maybe ninety three, and he'd smoked that entire time, and
- 6:54Speaker 3: they said, brum, it's time to give up the ciggis,
- 6:57Speaker 3: and he went all right and just gave them up. Yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 3: no fuss, no bother, no stress. Mind you having said that,
- 7:05Speaker 3: I wasn't living with him.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 7:08Speaker 1: He might have been having huge tanties.
- 7:10Speaker 6: He probably had his fell by then.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 3: You know what, it's always blown my mind that he
- 7:15Speaker 3: did that and never had any adverse.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Wow.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I mean he was always really fat and active.
- 7:23Speaker 4: God, there's very few people that smoke. Yes, what percentage
- 7:27Speaker 4: of Europeans would you say smoke?
- 7:32Speaker 1: Fifteen percent?
- 7:33Speaker 4: Six percent? Wow, six point one, down from fourteen point
- 7:37Speaker 4: seven and twenty eleven.
- 7:41Speaker 6: Does that include vapor?
- 7:42Speaker 4: It's smoking right, okay, twenty eleven. It didn't exist, didn't exist,
- 7:49Speaker 4: the old vapor. U God, that's plummeted. Gee whiz whether
- 7:53Speaker 4: minority now, Mogi, we are minorities, aren't we? As white men?
- 7:59Speaker 3: Yes, we're we're we're dying out literally the whole Archy
- 8:05Speaker 3: B Show wee days from four on Radio Hurdarchym They
- 8:10Speaker 3: Big Show Podcast.
- 8:11Speaker 4: We're trying to work out how many cigarettes are smoked
- 8:13Speaker 4: per day. But it doesn't seem to show me that anyway.
- 8:18Speaker 4: So what do you reckon?
- 8:20Speaker 3: What about giving up? Well, as I say, I'm really struggling.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I'm really struggling with it. But you know, I think
- 8:29Speaker 3: I've gone back to the gym every day as well.
- 8:31Speaker 4: So that's a good.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Wait you mean bulk man, you mean you mean muscle.
- 8:38Speaker 4: I'm going to start back at that as well.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It's blunny.
- 8:40Speaker 4: I've got my I've got my This is like you
- 8:42Speaker 4: want to hear one new plan when you extended plans always.
- 8:46Speaker 4: So it's my daughter's birthday in two weeks. Yes, so
- 8:51Speaker 4: I've got two weeks. Yeah, no point stopping is there
- 8:56Speaker 4: between now and then?
- 8:57Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 8:58Speaker 4: Stopping just the daries the daries. Then I'm going to
- 9:00Speaker 4: go back on the wagon. And the other thing I
- 9:03Speaker 4: have to do is go back to the gym. So
- 9:04Speaker 4: I'm going to start another regime with that. But the
- 9:06Speaker 4: other thing I'm going to do start the regime, but
- 9:10Speaker 4: not talk about it once during that regime. That's another
- 9:15Speaker 4: part of the regime. A right. People don't want to
- 9:17Speaker 4: hear about it. I'm just going to shut the fuck out.
- 9:19Speaker 4: And but I need to have I can't just stop
- 9:23Speaker 4: smoking and then just think I'm going to go about
- 9:25Speaker 4: my life without replacement or something, or stop drinking and
- 9:27Speaker 4: think I can just go about my life without replacement.
- 9:30Speaker 1: You need to fill that time, that's right.
- 9:32Speaker 4: So I need to be trying to achieve something else
- 9:34Speaker 4: that it would be put at risk if I started
- 9:36Speaker 4: smoking and drinking. Sure, So that's what I need to do.
- 9:40Speaker 3: The gym has been good. Actually it took me. I've
- 9:43Speaker 3: lost a lot of strength. I went from two twenty
- 9:46Speaker 3: kids to one, and it's taken me a while to
- 9:51Speaker 3: get Yeah. But in all seriousness I had I was
- 9:58Speaker 3: amazed how much strength i'd last. Yeah, like I was
- 10:01Speaker 3: doing three times when I'm doing at the moment, and
- 10:03Speaker 3: I was like, oh, but it's slowly. I'm building up
- 10:07Speaker 3: a little bit every day, a little bit more every day.
- 10:09Speaker 6: No, I was just going to say what I was I.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Was learning the other day is the longer and more
- 10:16Speaker 2: consistently you go to the gym four and you build
- 10:18Speaker 2: that strength up, the easier it is for you to
- 10:20Speaker 2: regain it if you have a hiatus.
- 10:23Speaker 6: It's like muscle memory or something like that.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Well, having said that, I'm finding that I'm getting back
- 10:28Speaker 3: to it pretty quick.
- 10:29Speaker 6: Yeah, it takes less time the longer you've done it.
- 10:32Speaker 1: It's getting for you took the break, Yes, and it's
- 10:34Speaker 1: getting And.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Interestingly, this year has almost perfectly reflected what I did
- 10:41Speaker 3: last year.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Which is nothing. Wow, I went back right there. You
- 10:45Speaker 4: did nothing for a while.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, but no, I went back in about April May
- 10:50Speaker 3: to the gym last year, and I went hardcore all
- 10:52Speaker 3: through winter and autumn, and then just dropped off at summer.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I don't know why. I don't even I can't remember why.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I just dropped off.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Well, I weighed myself over the weekend, you know, when
- 11:02Speaker 4: I did my competition thingy, Yeah, go down to eighty
- 11:06Speaker 4: one kilos. Yeah, I'm now ninety one kilos.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Wow, holy shit.
- 11:10Speaker 4: So I put on ten and that is not for
- 11:12Speaker 4: that is because I haven't begain to the gym. I've
- 11:14Speaker 4: just been working. I've had no time for it. So
- 11:15Speaker 4: I've just lost all of that week that I put
- 11:18Speaker 4: on last year and I'm just back.
- 11:21Speaker 1: I'm seventy something seventy three.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Same.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Yeah, roughly it's your gym going.
- 11:29Speaker 1: You're still doing it.
- 11:30Speaker 6: Honestly, I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah I'm not.
- 11:34Speaker 2: I'm not going as often as I could be. But
- 11:38Speaker 2: when I'm going, I'm i feel like I'm giving.
- 11:41Speaker 4: It a program. Man.
- 11:42Speaker 6: Ah, but you're just a mental one man, gout anything down.
- 11:46Speaker 5: But also having said that, you're routing a lot at
- 11:48Speaker 5: the moment too, so that'll kip you in shake.
- 11:49Speaker 6: Well, that's the cardio side. I'm just waits there.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Yeah, good ship man.
- 11:53Speaker 2: But I do feel myself moving like I do it
- 11:56Speaker 2: on my head of like I remember how heavy I
- 11:59Speaker 2: lifted last time a particular exercise, and then the next
- 12:02Speaker 2: time I go and try to go one more or whatever.
- 12:04Speaker 6: And so I'm finding that I'm doing that, So.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Good on you, good pugs.
- 12:08Speaker 4: That's one.
- 12:09Speaker 1: And if I wasn't in a stable relationship with a
- 12:13Speaker 1: woman of my dreams.
- 12:15Speaker 5: The long pause, you would be Yeah, you'd be under
- 12:19Speaker 5: the gun, mate, let me just say that, you would
- 12:22Speaker 5: be breaking up the connies.
- 12:24Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. And the firing line.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Hey, listen to the Big Show four to seven weekdays
- 12:30Speaker 2: or Dan, it's up to you and I I would
- 12:32Speaker 2: if I was, if I was you, and find us
- 12:36Speaker 2: on Instagram.
- 12:37Speaker 4: As a big show.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and call me pugs. Nah, okay, don't worry
- 12:45Speaker 1: about call me pugs.
- 12:46Speaker 6: And oh yeah, Chris ken Zid's bully.
- 12:56Speaker 1: He's away for another week, bastard.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, the tank Spike
