- 0:00All right, before we talk about NASCAR at Chicago and why
- 0:05NASCAR's not at Daytona like the old days, like the old days,
- 0:15that is our subject matter of the day.
- 0:18Why is NASCAR not back at Daytona like the old days?
- 0:25Now, I haven't heard very many people, you know, screaming,
- 0:31wanting NASCAR back in Daytona for July 4th weekend.
- 0:36However, this week I've been hearing a lot of people bring
- 0:42back NASCAR to Daytona. So we're we're going to discuss
- 0:46that. We're going to we're going to D
- 0:48bullshit right now. Why is NASCAR in Chicago on this
- 0:53July 4th weekend? Before we do that, I'm going to
- 0:56let you know on this Saturday night I will be running my
- 0:59Sunoco dirt car. Sunoco High Octane Coffee will
- 1:05be racing tonight in Pevely, MO at Federated Auto Parts Raceway
- 1:11Park. Yeah, Federated Auto Parts
- 1:13Raceway Park. I got to add the word park on
- 1:16there. All right, let's discuss why
- 1:19NASCAR went to the Chicago St. course.
- 1:22Now, I know a lot of you are looking for my comedy.
- 1:26You're looking for my Saturday Night Live comedy.
- 1:29So here's what I'm going to start with.
- 1:32NASCAR doesn't like you. They said screw all of you.
- 1:36We're going to piss you off on purpose.
- 1:39And we're going to we're going to go to the down downtown
- 1:42streets of Chicago because it's dangerous.
- 1:46And we like all our fans, you know, to, to be in a dangerous
- 1:50environment. Dude, so stupid people.
- 1:57Come on Jesus. That's not why NASCAR went to
- 2:01Chicago. Now let let let's just state the
- 2:04obvious everybody. NASCAR is based in Daytona
- 2:09Beach, FL, right across the street from the Daytona
- 2:13International Motor Speedway. So to say NASCAR is getting away
- 2:19from the troops in this case in in this exact case seems a
- 2:25little far fetched because that would mean they're leaving their
- 2:28own house. We all know that NASCAR probably
- 2:34most likely gets a big ass tax break from the city of Daytona,
- 2:40so I don't think NASCAR would would have cost their own selves
- 2:43money. So put yourself in NASCAR's
- 2:46point. Hey, we're NASCAR.
- 2:50We're we're going to lose millions of dollars by leaving
- 2:53our own racetrack. Daytona is the home of NASCAR
- 2:58right across the street from the from the racetrack.
- 3:01NASCAR went in business with I think the Marriott and they
- 3:08built a hotel and they got bass pro shops.
- 3:11You've all been there right across the street.
- 3:13And if you haven't been there, maybe Google Earth it.
- 3:17But Daytona built a big old shopping mall and, you know,
- 3:22hotel and bass pro So to say NASCAR going to
- 3:44Chicago is dumb, well, that's just for us to say.
- 3:49That's just stupid talk. OK, now let's get down to it.
- 3:53Let's get down to it. Why is NASCAR in Chicago?
- 3:57Well, I don't know, but I can most likely take a take a shot
- 4:02at it. First of all, we're on our third
- 4:05year #1 the races have been really good.
- 4:10I mean, that first race in the rain, we saw, we saw SVG, we
- 4:14watched Shane van Gisbergen, he come from over there in
- 4:18Australia and and he showed those boys how to run those,
- 4:22those Rd. courses, those St. courses.
- 4:24Now a lot of you cry out that politically, you know, and I
- 4:29don't like talking about this and I'm not going to, I'm just
- 4:32going to give you a little soft curveball right here.
- 4:36Politically, it's not aligned with NASCAR.
- 4:41Well, you know, they got to work with everybody.
- 4:45It it, it's like a car dealership.
- 4:47You can't say you're line politically one way or the
- 4:50other. Because like my old friends told
- 4:54me, Herman, we're not here for 50% of the business.
- 4:58We're here for all the business. So NASCAR is in Chicago because
- 5:05they want all the business. They don't want 50% of the
- 5:08business. NASCAR races everywhere.
- 5:12So you got to get that out of your mind.
- 5:14They're not there because they like they're not politically
- 5:16aligned with this group of people or that group of people.
- 5:20Now, I've talked to the bosses. They said one thing they do like
- 5:25about Chicago is they, you know, they serve lunch up.
- 5:30You know, they do a lot of their activity in some of their old
- 5:33buildings and they, it's got a good feel.
- 5:35Everybody I talked to, you know the teams and everybody, but
- 5:39everybody I talked to, if you get the politics out of your
- 5:43brain, say get the politics out of your brain, la, la, LA, you
- 5:48go downtown Chicago, they all have a good time.
- 5:51They really like it. That's what I hear, you know
- 5:54what I mean? That's really what I hear.
- 5:56And and the race, the race is good guys.
- 5:59It really good. Now, are they going to go back
- 6:03next year, which will be a fourth year?
- 6:05When NASCAR's taught us that they don't do that.
- 6:09NASCAR's taught us that they don't go back somewhere for a
- 6:13fourth year. Now this is something new and we
- 6:15all know it. You know, we did the Coliseum
- 6:19out there in in LA for three years.
- 6:21That's over. Now we're up here to St. course.
- 6:24But little birdie tells me that they like it that they're having
- 6:27a good time, but I'm sure it's going to be up to the city.
- 6:32They say that they got this deal really down path that they know
- 6:35how to build these St. courses. I'm going to bet.
- 6:37I'm going to guess it's 5050, but if I'm a guessing man, I
- 6:42don't think they're going to go back to Chicago.
- 6:45From what I'm hearing is that they're going to either go to
- 6:47San Diego or Philadelphia. Now, forget about politics.
- 6:52Get that out of your head. Quit thinking like that.
- 6:56They're not going these places for politics, guys.
- 6:59Maybe you think that way. They're going to these places
- 7:02because the city is giving NASCAR money.
- 7:07Yes, and it's making sense if you read any stories.
- 7:11Chicago is paying NASCAR a good amount of money now.
- 7:16Are they losing money? Oh, I'm sure they are.
- 7:19I'm sure NASCAR has lost some money building this.
- 7:22But in the future they got this company that has all the
- 7:26concrete barriers, the fences, and now, now they can do this.
- 7:30Now they got all the materials. So they hire a company.
- 7:34I think it's the same people that put up the Memphis St.
- 7:37course. So just for once, just for once,
- 7:42come on now, respond right here. Why do you think NASCAR did a
- 7:48street course at Chicago? Forget about politics.
- 7:51He can't can't play that game. That's weak.
- 7:54That's weak. Why didn't NASCAR leave their
- 7:58own racetrack at Daytona to go somewhere else?
- 8:01That's the question. All right, everybody, I'll see
- 8:06you tonight at a Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park in Pevely, MO
- 8:13Have a great Saturday.
