- 0:01Speaker 1: I mean, you know how I'm gonna start the show today.
- 0:05Speaker 1: You texted me a very interesting.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Story, which one lead a former teammate of yours.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't even I don't even know what to
- 0:19Speaker 3: say to that.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Why it's kind of funny, it's ridiculous.
- 0:22Speaker 3: He's forty four years old, he's playing in the WC
- 0:24Speaker 3: and you get popped for not one, not two, not three.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Four steroids, four freaking steroids. You get popped for four
- 0:32Speaker 2: different ones. Then he had like one at bat. He
- 0:34Speaker 2: didn't really, I don't know what he's doing. Why is
- 0:37Speaker 2: he on the team.
- 0:38Speaker 4: That's what I'm doing that.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I just don't understand. I don't know. No one, not two,
- 0:43Speaker 2: not three, four different steroids, Alexe, No, no, I just
- 0:52Speaker 2: don't get it.
- 0:54Speaker 1: For anyone unaware. Just to fill you in so you
- 0:55Speaker 1: don't feel like you're on the outside. Forty four year
- 0:58Speaker 1: old Cuban WBC participant Alexey Ramirez ended up testing positive
- 1:05Speaker 1: for not one, not two, not three, but four steroids.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It was announced by the International Testing Agency.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Just means he's officially done.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I think he's banned. I think that's gonna do it.
- 1:19Speaker 1: He is not going to come back when he's forty
- 1:21Speaker 1: seven or forty eight.
- 1:22Speaker 5: Dubai the Dubai League might get him.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know if they're testing out there.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Guess why he could go there.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Did he plan that?
- 1:30Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:31Speaker 5: Probably a lot of those guys did, a lot of
- 1:34Speaker 5: guys that were unemployed went out there and did.
- 1:36Speaker 4: It, and I don't don't even know how it went.
- 1:40Speaker 5: But I know Bartolo Cologne's throwing in edge on, so
- 1:43Speaker 5: there's definitely some steroids in that.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Well.
- 1:48Speaker 1: In a quick search, he is not participating in that
- 1:50Speaker 1: tournament either, So I just thought it was fun, fun
- 1:54Speaker 1: way to kick off the day, a little caffeine boost.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Some times it's ridiculous. I mean, it's if you have
- 2:01Speaker 3: to do that to play, just go home.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Sorry, yeah, but yeah, want to back go home. He's
- 2:09Speaker 2: in screw it mode because what do you.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Think he's going to get another big league job?
- 2:12Speaker 2: No, he just.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Wants to be ready to play in the WBC. Or
- 2:16Speaker 1: maybe he just uses them on the rag and that's
- 2:18Speaker 1: what he likes to do.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Wow, Okay, you played bad decision. Yeah, I'm not going
- 2:24Speaker 3: to talk about that bad decisions.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I'm not going to talk about your experiences with him. Nope, Okay,
- 2:30Speaker 2: I'm not going to talk about.
- 2:31Speaker 1: It when AJ doesn't comment. I already know it all,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I know it. All right, let's talk about a superstar
- 2:38Speaker 1: in our sport right now, let's charge.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Let's charge about now.
- 2:44Speaker 1: His team did not win the game, but Shoheo Tani
- 2:47Speaker 1: again pitched quite well, and he is a young candidate,
- 2:51Speaker 1: and the emerging storyline with him, which is fun, is
- 2:55Speaker 1: the balance of him making every start, which apparently is
- 2:59Speaker 1: what he wants to do, versus playing time in general.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Here's Alden Gonzalez obviously having him do both duties and
- 3:07Speaker 1: theory practice.
- 3:08Speaker 2: It's great. This is in his story about Dave Roberts.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I should say, but how sustainable is it without kind
- 3:13Speaker 1: of taking a little bit off his plate a little bit?
- 3:15Speaker 2: That's the question. And it's not an exact science.
- 3:17Speaker 1: On show Heo Tani's half days now, he hadn't done
- 3:20Speaker 1: that in years until last time around. And that was
- 3:24Speaker 1: after Remember he got hit in the shoulder in the
- 3:27Speaker 1: Mets series and the next start, they're like, all right,
- 3:30Speaker 1: in the Met series, they're like, let's just skip the hitting.
- 3:32Speaker 1: So now this happens again. And before we get into
- 3:35Speaker 1: any of this, we do have to have one of
- 3:37Speaker 1: the fun told just so moments where you guys have
- 3:40Speaker 1: both mentioned this at times. I mean like, yeah, maybe
- 3:43Speaker 1: they're going to do this, And anytime you guys have
- 3:44Speaker 1: mentioned this, it has been met with pure venom.
- 3:48Speaker 2: You know that, right, you guys have talked about but yes.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Okay, but you guys have been met with pure venom.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And this has been brought up for.
- 3:55Speaker 2: What saying that there would be days where he doesn't
- 3:56Speaker 2: DH and he pitches only yeah, like people are like,
- 3:59Speaker 2: he's never had do that. His stats are not the
- 4:01Speaker 2: like they're the same, It doesn't matter, and it's like,
- 4:05Speaker 2: this is the problem that I have.
- 4:07Speaker 1: You guys are just taking us inside MLB organization since
- 4:10Speaker 1: you both spent a lot of damn time in them.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So I would just like to tip my cap to
- 4:15Speaker 1: both of you for taking the venom for literally just
- 4:18Speaker 1: pointing something very innocently out and then who it actually happened.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Good job.
- 4:23Speaker 1: So I like this AJ They're going to balance a
- 4:27Speaker 1: little pt maybe occasionally maybe half the starts he doesn't hit,
- 4:31Speaker 1: and guess what if he makes every start, you might
- 4:34Speaker 1: win the cy Young Award. And that's a big accomplishment
- 4:36Speaker 1: for him, and that's called word with your superstar. But
- 4:38Speaker 1: that's what he wants, and that isn't that okay? If
- 4:41Speaker 1: the Dodgers says.
- 4:42Speaker 3: He hits in the playoffs, I don't care what he does,
- 4:44Speaker 3: because they're going to be in the playoffs as long
- 4:45Speaker 3: as he hits in the playoffs, right.
- 4:47Speaker 1: And don't you think Andrew Friedman and the front officer
- 4:49Speaker 1: saying the same thing, like, cool, as long as you
- 4:50Speaker 1: hit in the playoffs, long as you feel good the
- 4:52Speaker 1: whole year, will let you make all of your starts.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Just work with us.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And Otani already said again after this game that he said,
- 4:58Speaker 1: I'm going to respect the decision regards whether I'm pitching
- 5:00Speaker 1: or doing both. I understand the importance of getting to
- 5:03Speaker 1: the end of the season with everybody healthy. So talking
- 5:05Speaker 1: with the training staff, talking with the team, I think
- 5:06Speaker 1: it's really important that the team makes the decision on
- 5:09Speaker 1: what's good for the team. So he's saying the negotiations
- 5:13Speaker 1: playing out publicly. AJ Doc said, we hear you. You want
- 5:17Speaker 1: to make all your starts and maybe win a cy
- 5:18Speaker 1: Young Award with your six over thirty innings so far
- 5:21Speaker 1: this year. He says, cool, you guys tell me how
- 5:24Speaker 1: I can do that and make you guys feel comfortable
- 5:26Speaker 1: that I'm going to be good for October.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Handshake done, stud.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, I mean it all comes down to what's
- 5:36Speaker 3: more valuable, I guess, but I mean his fifty to
- 5:39Speaker 3: fifty years pretty valuable.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I did and pitch.
- 5:42Speaker 3: I know that's why he was able to put up
- 5:44Speaker 3: those numbers because remember he didn't pitch that year. So
- 5:49Speaker 3: I think he'll pitch when he wants to, Like we've
- 5:51Speaker 3: kind of already talked about a little bit, and you'll
- 5:53Speaker 3: and they'll let him hit when he wants to.
- 5:54Speaker 2: But I like this idea.
- 5:55Speaker 3: You're taking a little bit off his plate because we've
- 5:57Speaker 3: never seen anybody be able to do this because remember
- 5:59Speaker 3: back and Anaheim used to have to take like the
- 6:01Speaker 3: day off before he pitched, the day after he pitched.
- 6:04Speaker 5: That was in the I think the first Yeah, but
- 6:07Speaker 5: they got to do it because he was It's a lot.
- 6:10Speaker 3: So here we go. He's thirty one years old now
- 6:13Speaker 3: and he's gonna have to figure out a way to
- 6:14Speaker 3: keep him on the field. That's the most important thing.
- 6:16Speaker 3: So if he's got to take a day off for
- 6:18Speaker 3: two dhing, Okay.
- 6:21Speaker 5: There's I mean there's rarely do you get hurt on
- 6:24Speaker 5: one play. It's the culmination of never recovering. It's all
- 6:29Speaker 5: the wear and tear, and so the Dodgers are trying
- 6:33Speaker 5: their best. Nobody's that they've never nobody's ever navigated these waters.
- 6:36Speaker 5: So they're trying their best, and they're not just like
- 6:39Speaker 5: show hey, how do you feel?
- 6:41Speaker 4: Oh?
- 6:41Speaker 5: I feel good? Okay, show hey, go ahead. There's so
- 6:45Speaker 5: many different things. And do they use all the all
- 6:48Speaker 5: the mechanics, do they use all of the different gadgets?
- 6:52Speaker 5: I don't know, but there's ways to see how how
- 6:56Speaker 5: elevated his heart rate got during the game, how quickly
- 7:00Speaker 5: down What does that mean for recovery. The only reason
- 7:04Speaker 5: I said the fact that if he pitches an entire
- 7:06Speaker 5: season and he hits, his hitting will not be as
- 7:10Speaker 5: good is because I watched games.
- 7:12Speaker 4: I watched games when he.
- 7:13Speaker 5: Would get into the seventh inning of a game and
- 7:16Speaker 5: he'd go to try to leg out a triple or
- 7:18Speaker 5: a double. You could see his legs. He was running differently.
- 7:23Speaker 5: If you don't believe me, go back and watch the highlights.
- 7:26Speaker 5: I'm not saying everyone, so for people who want a
- 7:28Speaker 5: cherry pick, but there's just there's a different level of
- 7:32Speaker 5: exertion that nobody has ever experienced. And so for the
- 7:36Speaker 5: Dodgers doing this, it's great. It's okay if you only
- 7:39Speaker 5: hit thirty five home runs. It's okay if you don't
- 7:43Speaker 5: get all seven hundred at bats that you want. Because
- 7:47Speaker 5: he really, and I don't know that I've heard him
- 7:49Speaker 5: say he wants a sy Young, but the way he's pitching,
- 7:52Speaker 5: he clearly is like, this might be the best my
- 7:55Speaker 5: arm field this year and next year to win a
- 7:59Speaker 5: cy Young.
- 8:00Speaker 4: So I'm going to go for it.
- 8:03Speaker 5: We love our Dogdabella, who's really just accounts cushion in
- 8:06Speaker 5: our house.
- 8:07Speaker 2: And you do anything for her.
- 8:08Speaker 1: A quick message from today's sponsor, the ASPCA Pet Health

- 9:00Speaker 1: and is not engaged in the business of insurance.
- 9:05Speaker 2: And also, he was on five days rest.
- 9:10Speaker 3: That's less than usual, but he doesn't normally do that,
- 9:12Speaker 3: I mean, right, so my day's rest is more than
- 9:14Speaker 3: most guys get still though, but.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Not him, right, So he pitched the twenty second you're
- 9:18Speaker 2: going to have to go back to six days.
- 9:21Speaker 1: So now that he's superstitious like that, I think they'll
- 9:24Speaker 1: bix that in. But like, look, so he pitched on
- 9:26Speaker 1: four twenty eight before that was four twenty two, so
- 9:28Speaker 1: six days right before that, four fifteen, seven days before that,
- 9:32Speaker 1: four eight, seven days before that, three thirty one.
- 9:34Speaker 2: That's like nine days.
- 9:36Speaker 1: So the Dodger's like, okay, you want to pitch a
- 9:38Speaker 1: little more frequently again, Let's.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Just get you a little want to make stealthy all
- 9:44Speaker 3: they you care about it some healthy in the postseason.
- 9:48Speaker 3: They just want him healthy in the postseason. Postseason, he
- 9:50Speaker 3: probably will DH and pitch because there's so many off
- 9:52Speaker 3: days in between. So I, I mean, it's cool and
- 9:56Speaker 3: I get it, but it's just a big story because
- 9:58Speaker 3: it's Shohane and you've never seen anything like that, so
- 10:00Speaker 3: nobody exactly knows how to do it.
- 10:03Speaker 4: And how much do you push it? How much? Like
- 10:05Speaker 4: what's the point?
- 10:06Speaker 5: So I'm sure if shohe has said I want to
- 10:09Speaker 5: win a cy Young, and he watches foul Territory religiously.
- 10:13Speaker 5: He knows he has to make his starts to win
- 10:15Speaker 5: the cy Young. So, hey, I want to win the
- 10:17Speaker 5: cy Young. Andrew Friedman, Dave Roberts, Okay, that's fine, but
- 10:21Speaker 5: we're gonna sit you down some of these games that
- 10:24Speaker 5: you're pitching. You're not going to DH. No, I still
- 10:27Speaker 5: want to hit two. Then we can't have you start
- 10:30Speaker 5: like we've set out the whole seven days rest, six
- 10:33Speaker 5: days rest.
- 10:33Speaker 4: He's like, no, I want to. I want to. I
- 10:35Speaker 4: want to get after it.
- 10:36Speaker 5: I want to win the sy Young because it's the
- 10:38Speaker 5: one thing that I haven't done and I'm just an
- 10:40Speaker 5: absolute cyborg if I do it, And I think there's
- 10:44Speaker 5: probably some kind of negotiations just my opinion, but there
- 10:48Speaker 5: has to be a give and take because Aj said it.
- 10:51Speaker 5: He's thirty one years old and he's doing something that
- 10:53Speaker 5: even twenty three year olds can't do for half a season.
- 10:56Speaker 5: And I love that they called him, what is it
- 10:59Speaker 5: half halftime player or something like he started the game.
- 11:04Speaker 5: He was a starting pitcher, that's a full time player.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Oh, I get what you're saying. Well, he did half
- 11:11Speaker 2: what he usually does.
- 11:13Speaker 5: But they called him he didn't say it was half
- 11:16Speaker 5: show hey. I forget what the exact quote was, but
- 11:19Speaker 5: he was. He like, he did what everybody does. He
- 11:24Speaker 5: did what Yamamoto is gonna do when he makes his start.
- 11:28Speaker 5: Glass now thrown for him today when he makes his start.
- 11:31Speaker 5: Like all these dudes make their starts, that's their full
- 11:34Speaker 5: time job. So to say, show hey did a half
- 11:37Speaker 5: halftime or he was only working part time last night
- 11:41Speaker 5: is so hilarious.
- 11:43Speaker 2: And right now, where for most starters five or six
- 11:48Speaker 2: starts into their campaign, he's got the best dra in baseball,
- 11:53Speaker 2: White Sox. What happened? Thanks to the White Sox. Thanks
- 11:58Speaker 2: to the White Tux.
- 12:00Speaker 3: They beat up Soriana last night.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Oh you're saying, because they got a few runs off
- 12:04Speaker 1: him and his r balloon to what point eight something?
- 12:07Speaker 2: So but in the National.
- 12:08Speaker 3: You're welcome show. Hey, the White Talks took care of you.
- 12:10Speaker 2: That's right.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Now you can say with him next year.
- 12:12Speaker 4: I'm so I'm so glad.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Opt out he has he hasn't opt out.
- 12:18Speaker 4: I'm so glad. Terrible. Yeah, that's not it.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Then he can opt out. That's not happening. O Tani
- 12:26Speaker 1: has an O six o r A the competition right now?
- 12:29Speaker 1: Do you know it's the second best e r A
- 12:31Speaker 1: in the National League. I don't think you're going to
- 12:33Speaker 1: get it. I really don't. And me saying that should
- 12:38Speaker 1: already tell you he's eighth in.
- 12:42Speaker 2: The National League.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Give me a division.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Stop National league quest kind of a I don't want
- 12:53Speaker 1: to say a strict question, but no, he's up there too.
- 12:56Speaker 1: These are some of the candidates for show. Hey, don't
- 12:59Speaker 1: lander as a two two five R and thirty two
- 13:02Speaker 1: innings and that's Colorado. Second, Justin Robleski, Oh, for gosh,
- 13:08Speaker 1: one and a half and thirty innings for him?
- 13:13Speaker 3: Wow, fantastic forgot. Yeah, I mean, it's just weird that, uh,
- 13:17Speaker 3: there's two guys on the team.
- 13:18Speaker 2: By the way, Clay Holmes is dealing. He helped again night.
- 13:21Speaker 2: They need to pitch him every.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Day, one seven, five and six starts for him, Bryce
- 13:24Speaker 1: Elder one night Sal Sales two three to one and
- 13:28Speaker 1: six starts. I mean, there are a lot of National
- 13:30Speaker 1: League guys off to a great start, and these are
- 13:32Speaker 1: cooler ras some of the ones that you're looking at
- 13:34Speaker 1: on the screen, a few that we're mentioning in the
- 13:36Speaker 1: two's like Sale Dolander, Michael King, Tyler Glass. Now, but
- 13:40Speaker 1: oh wait, Joejeo Tani has an six zero and thirty innings,
- 13:43Speaker 1: So if he keeps up anything close to this ridiculousness,
- 13:47Speaker 1: he absolutely can win a cy Young Award, and for
- 13:49Speaker 1: personal accomplishments that is number one on his list right now,
- 13:53Speaker 1: I think that's obvious, right. Can you take a two
- 13:56Speaker 1: way player who is dhing almost every day and have
- 14:00Speaker 1: him be the best starting pitcher in the.
- 14:03Speaker 2: National League and win an award like that? It would
- 14:06Speaker 2: just be another notch.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Krats looks like my looks like my lock from the
- 14:10Speaker 5: beginning of the year might hit under fifty home runs
- 14:13Speaker 5: for Shoho Tony, because.
- 14:17Speaker 4: I mean, he just if he is really focused on.
- 14:19Speaker 5: Winning a cy young and he says, this is what
- 14:22Speaker 5: I want to do, and he does it like that's
- 14:26Speaker 5: a that's a joke, Like he's making a mockery of
- 14:29Speaker 5: our game with the ability that he has to just say,
- 14:33Speaker 5: you know what, I'm gonna focus a little bit more
- 14:35Speaker 5: on that. You know what, I don't have to pitch
- 14:37Speaker 5: besides rehabbing my arm. I'm gonna go out and hit
- 14:40Speaker 5: fifty homers. Oh you want me to steal basis? Sure,
- 14:43Speaker 5: fifty of those two? Oh, I'm gonna go. I can't
- 14:47Speaker 5: wait till he starts playing the outfield when he's like
- 14:49Speaker 5: thirty five.
- 14:49Speaker 4: That'll be fun to watch too.
- 14:51Speaker 2: He's definitely going to play the outfields one day.
- 14:53Speaker 3: He did do that?
- 14:56Speaker 2: Do that? Sure he did that?
- 14:59Speaker 3: And with the I thought so like, did he not?
- 15:01Speaker 2: Maybe for one, I don't know, I don't remember that,
- 15:04Speaker 2: but consistently.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I thought it was like for just like a game
- 15:07Speaker 3: or two, Oh he might have.
- 15:08Speaker 2: He might have popped out out there for Yeah.
- 15:10Speaker 5: For anybody, for anybody who gets sick of us talking
- 15:13Speaker 5: about show, hey, stop like stop getting sick of us
- 15:16Speaker 5: talking about show hey, because his like what he does.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Even the first time I ever saw him at nineteen,
- 15:23Speaker 5: I was more impressed with how fast he ran. And
- 15:26Speaker 5: the dude was throwing one hundred miles an hour at
- 15:28Speaker 5: nineteen years old.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Like, there's so.
- 15:30Speaker 5: Many things that he can do. He played, it says,
- 15:33Speaker 5: seven games in the outfield. Yeah he had. He had
- 15:38Speaker 5: eight innings total in twenty twenty one.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it was quick, but he did play
- 15:44Speaker 3: in the outfield a few times.
- 15:45Speaker 4: He was going, no wonder he won the MVP. He
- 15:48Speaker 4: is a versatile player.
- 15:50Speaker 1: If you're sick of us talking about him, then foul
- 15:52Speaker 1: Territory in nineteen twenty wouldn't have worked either. We would
- 15:54Speaker 1: have talked about Babe Ruth a lot and no much better.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what he said.
- 15:59Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 16:01Speaker 3: That's what he said.
- 16:02Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 16:06Speaker 1: It's worth going over the quotes by Rob Thompson after
- 16:09Speaker 1: he was let go by the Phillies.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Hours later, he shows.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Up on a conference call with reporters for twenty minutes
- 16:15Speaker 1: to talk about, you know, the time spend and what.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Happened the whole deal.
- 16:19Speaker 1: And first off, most people around the game, AJ said
- 16:23Speaker 1: tip of the cap.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Respect.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Many managers don't do this, and he was so complimentary
- 16:28Speaker 1: of just about everything and also talked about how he's
- 16:31Speaker 1: such a lifer. We always we use that word with
- 16:35Speaker 1: an elite group. He's been in the game for like
- 16:38Speaker 1: forty something years, so he's like, I don't even know
- 16:40Speaker 1: what I would do. He's like, they were like, what
- 16:41Speaker 1: are you gonna do tonight? He was like, watch the Phillies.
- 16:44Speaker 1: They're like, what are you gonna do this summer? He's like,
- 16:46Speaker 1: maybe go in the pool and then watch the Phillies.
- 16:49Speaker 1: And then eventually he's going to join the Phillies again
- 16:51Speaker 1: because they invited him to be part of the organization,
- 16:53Speaker 1: kind of like remember Larry Bow has been part of
- 16:55Speaker 1: the organization forever, he managed them back in the day.
- 16:57Speaker 1: You give it a little bit of time and then
- 17:00Speaker 1: he'll return, probably in spring training next year.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Is my death?
- 17:03Speaker 3: Yeah, you just you just don't want to. You can't
- 17:05Speaker 3: be around right after me because you're just like going
- 17:07Speaker 3: you don't want to make it awkward for Don Maddingly. So,
- 17:11Speaker 3: Rob Thompson loves baseball. He's gonna watch baseball and he's
- 17:14Speaker 3: gonna root for his guys. It's not like he's like, oh, man,
- 17:17Speaker 3: I hope, I hope the Phillies lose every game. No,
- 17:19Speaker 3: that's not the way he is at all. I'm sure
- 17:21Speaker 3: he's when they won last night, he was he's frighting
- 17:25Speaker 3: hell yeah, heck yeah, man, I way to go, Phillies,
- 17:27Speaker 3: Way to finally hit. I got some text from some
- 17:30Speaker 3: Philly buddies of mine and they're like, oh, now these
- 17:31Speaker 3: guys want to hit because they fired Topper cold down.
- 17:35Speaker 3: It's one game.
- 17:36Speaker 1: And the best start of the year from their their starters.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I think that was the first time someone went there.
- 17:41Speaker 3: They're also they faced like the fifth starter for the Giants,
- 17:43Speaker 3: Dudent Tyler Miley. I thought it was the other.
- 17:47Speaker 2: One's really good too this year. But I get what
- 17:53Speaker 2: you're saying.
- 17:54Speaker 3: It's been good. But yeah, was at one point. I
- 17:58Speaker 3: don't know how Bone finished, but he was one for
- 18:00Speaker 3: one after the Thompson firings.
- 18:01Speaker 4: So maybe it was.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Molly.
- 18:04Speaker 1: By the way, he has had one or two good addings,
- 18:06Speaker 1: but he's got a five eight to seven.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Giants fans are pissed about the way that they handled
- 18:10Speaker 1: starting pitching the off season with Molly and Howser. Everyone
- 18:13Speaker 1: thought in the beginning of the off seas and they're gonna
- 18:15Speaker 1: get a big starter. Anyway, I'm going off topic, but
- 18:18Speaker 1: I thought this was cool for Topper to just.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Kind of lay it all out.
- 18:21Speaker 1: He had a lot of interesting things to say, in
- 18:24Speaker 1: my mind, including not being pissed that they called Cora
- 18:29Speaker 1: on Sunday while he still had the job.
- 18:31Speaker 2: You kind of have to do that anyway.
- 18:33Speaker 1: You're right, they're finding out what they're doing, and then
- 18:34Speaker 1: they ultimately decided to go with maddingly, but it was
- 18:37Speaker 1: just one, as Bob Nightingale put it, classic comment after another.
- 18:41Speaker 1: No ill feelings towards Dombrowski reaching out to Cora Sunday
- 18:45Speaker 1: while Topper was still the manager. He said, Dave and
- 18:48Speaker 1: I have a close relationship. That doesn't stand in the
- 18:50Speaker 1: way for him doing the right thing for the organization.
- 18:52Speaker 2: I respect that.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Just a classy guy, man. Yeah, Rob Thompson's a classic guy.
- 18:57Speaker 3: And that's it. There's nothing else to say. He's a
- 18:58Speaker 3: classy guy. He handled this right way. And if you've
- 19:02Speaker 3: talked to Rob Thomason, he never thought he was going
- 19:04Speaker 3: to get to manage a major league team, and he
- 19:06Speaker 3: got the opportunity and he had a lot of success
- 19:08Speaker 3: doing it. I would not be shocked if teams called
- 19:10Speaker 3: in this offseason and said, hey, Topper, you want to
- 19:12Speaker 3: get you want to try to manage our team. I
- 19:14Speaker 3: do you respect this guy has in the game.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Do you think he would take another manager role?
- 19:19Speaker 4: Why not? Yeah?
- 19:21Speaker 5: He was almost out of the game before he got
- 19:23Speaker 5: the Phillies job. He was ready to leave. He was
- 19:27Speaker 5: like he had told a few people, this is gonna
- 19:31Speaker 5: be my last year, and then they started out poorly.
- 19:34Speaker 5: They fired Joe, they hired him, went to two games
- 19:38Speaker 5: away from winning the World Series against the Astros. When
- 19:41Speaker 5: people say stuff like like Scott said, he's a baseball lifer,
- 19:47Speaker 5: I don't think of Topper as a baseball lifer. I
- 19:49Speaker 5: think of Topper as a key piece to baseball.
- 19:55Speaker 3: He is.
- 19:56Speaker 5: He is the epitome of humbleness. He is the epitome
- 20:00Speaker 5: of we'll take a job and isn't going to look
- 20:03Speaker 5: to ladder climb or whatever the word is. He just
- 20:08Speaker 5: knows the game. He sees the game differently. When he
- 20:11Speaker 5: was the bench coach for Gabe Kapler, that Gabe Kpler
- 20:15Speaker 5: experience that happened in Philly. I would watch games we
- 20:17Speaker 5: were playing against him, and you're like, you're sitting on
- 20:20Speaker 5: the bench and you're always watching, Okay, you know, see
- 20:23Speaker 5: what teams are doing, see how they're reacting to things.
- 20:26Speaker 5: And Topper was looking this way at what was going
- 20:30Speaker 5: to be happening or what could happen, and Capler and
- 20:33Speaker 5: whoever else they had on the bench were looking at
- 20:35Speaker 5: other places like they were just like watching the ball go,
- 20:37Speaker 5: watching the ball go. Topper gets what's going on. And
- 20:41Speaker 5: when people use the phrase baseball lifer, it's usually somebody
- 20:45Speaker 5: who's like, Oh, I don't care, like I'll just do
- 20:47Speaker 5: this and you gotta do it my way. You gotta
- 20:50Speaker 5: He's changed with the times. He has adapted to the players.
- 20:55Speaker 5: He has made connections with players, with front office and
- 20:58Speaker 5: exactly what Aj said.
- 20:59Speaker 4: He is.
- 21:00Speaker 5: He's a pros pro like, he's a guy that is
- 21:03Speaker 5: respected that it might be tough for him to get
- 21:07Speaker 5: a job as a manager because I don't see him
- 21:09Speaker 5: going out there and being like, oh, you guys are rebuilding,
- 21:11Speaker 5: you want me to build your team up.
- 21:14Speaker 4: I've spent my entire life with the.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Yankees, Phillies, winning, winning, winning, and he's already done all that,
- 21:22Speaker 5: So I think, you know, for him. He should be
- 21:25Speaker 5: a manager somewhere. He should be in an organization. And
- 21:28Speaker 5: I love that the Phillies are keeping him. And he
- 21:30Speaker 5: texted me yesterday seemed like he was very very happy,
- 21:34Speaker 5: very like, you know what it is, what it is,
- 21:37Speaker 5: He's seen it before and he'll move on from it.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Okay, shout out.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we're doing a live wrby Parker somewhere in We'll
- 21:49Speaker 1: do a live show exactly. And it's the perfect time
- 21:53Speaker 1: to upgrade your prescription pair. As you can see at
- 21:56Speaker 1: the bottom. I'll read more about that in a moment.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Kratz has sun Glass Did you bring them?
- 22:01Speaker 2: Of course he did, come on.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Gold Star.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Beautiful.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I could see Crats in like spring training, you know,
- 22:10Speaker 1: advising with whatever, the Brewers, and he's there with those
- 22:14Speaker 1: the Sampan Wow, because you look too, Boston.
- 22:18Speaker 5: These are when I'm when I'm going in for my
- 22:20Speaker 5: contract negotiation. I don't want to intimidate the players when
- 22:23Speaker 5: I work. It's like I'm either going to fly a
- 22:25Speaker 5: Fighter jet, drive my Porsche, or get the deal done.
- 22:32Speaker 2: So Porsie, there you go. It's Warby Parker. Pusha Parsia,
- 22:36Speaker 2: pusha Okay, there you go. If you're going to look
- 22:40Speaker 2: the part you Got to Speak to part.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Warby has distributed over twenty million pairs of glass to
- 22:45Speaker 1: people in need through its by a Pair, Give a
- 22:47Speaker 1: Pair program. They're also covered by major eye insurance plants.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Perfect time to upgrade your glasses for spring by one
- 22:54Speaker 1: prescription pair, get twenty percent off any additional prescription pairs
- 22:57Speaker 1: at Warby.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Parker dot com slash file. That's twenty per off.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Additional prescription pairs when you go to Warby Parker dot
- 23:03Speaker 1: com slash fault. If you think about it, I feel
- 23:10Speaker 1: as if teams are often scrambling to find a manager
- 23:13Speaker 1: and like you said, is going to be Yeah, I
- 23:17Speaker 1: mean we cut if about thirty three percent of the
- 23:21Speaker 1: managers over the past and just when the off season alone,
- 23:24Speaker 1: we're probably close to half at this point different.
- 23:26Speaker 5: But a year ago, are they scrambling to find a
- 23:29Speaker 5: manager or are they scrambling to find the person they
- 23:33Speaker 5: want to put in the managerial role. Let's just be honest,
- 23:37Speaker 5: like if Topper, if Topper doesn't have a job after
- 23:41Speaker 5: this year, I hope it's because he doesn't want to.
- 23:43Speaker 5: But do you think Topper's going to bend the knee
- 23:48Speaker 5: to what people want him to do in another organization.
- 23:54Speaker 2: I don't think he's the most combative. It depends.
- 23:57Speaker 4: I'm not saying he's combative. I'm not saying he's combative.
- 24:00Speaker 5: I'm saying there's a certain standard of how to do
- 24:03Speaker 5: things professionally, and I don't think every organization does that,
- 24:06Speaker 5: And I think they try to.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Fill the roles.
- 24:08Speaker 5: I think like, like, for instance, nothing against Kurt Suzuki,
- 24:14Speaker 5: but Topper's seen so many managers become managers, and like
- 24:19Speaker 5: he understands like the role of how like an extension
- 24:24Speaker 5: past one year is like a one year contract for
- 24:27Speaker 5: manager kind of hurts other people and like so like
- 24:30Speaker 5: he wouldn't have taken that job. I don't think the
- 24:32Speaker 5: Nats would have gone after Topper. There's nobody half toppers
- 24:35Speaker 5: age that that are there, So it'd have to be
- 24:38Speaker 5: it would have to be a team that is like, okay,
- 24:41Speaker 5: we are, we're in the midst of winning and so
- 24:45Speaker 5: and so step down, like we have had a good season,
- 24:48Speaker 5: go ahead.
- 24:49Speaker 1: This would be in the off Like if he was
- 24:52Speaker 1: off season, I think a team like the Padres would
- 24:55Speaker 1: have considered him. They think about the Padres. Now Stanmon's
- 24:58Speaker 1: done a night great job so far. But but he wasn't
- 25:01Speaker 1: even thinking about this. They're sitting in meetings, they're like,
- 25:03Speaker 1: I mean, clearly they said, we don't really like anyone.
- 25:06Speaker 1: We're talking to Stamm and you want to do it, okay.
- 25:09Speaker 1: So I think if they sat with someone like Topper,
- 25:11Speaker 1: they might be like, hey, we like this. I agree,
- 25:13Speaker 1: very different vibe from Hilt.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Let's do this.
- 25:16Speaker 1: So just to give you an example of a team
- 25:18Speaker 1: that I think would have signed up for him, let's
- 25:20Speaker 1: move to a couple others. So Bob Nightingale said yesterday
- 25:26Speaker 1: in one of his columns, Albert Pujols could have been
- 25:28Speaker 1: the Angels manager, but his contract demands and request for
- 25:32Speaker 1: personnel changes led the Angels to instead turned to Kurtzuzuki
- 25:36Speaker 1: on that one year deal.
- 25:38Speaker 2: None of this is surprising. I think I thought we
- 25:40Speaker 2: knew this already, the contract part, we knew. The personnel
- 25:43Speaker 2: changes are a little bit new.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I'm sure he did. Every every manager's
- 25:48Speaker 3: got to get a couple of their guys in there.
- 25:51Speaker 2: You just have to. You got to have somebody who
- 25:52Speaker 2: can rely on. Most of the times it's the bench coach.
- 25:54Speaker 3: You gotta have a guy you can look at and say,
- 25:56Speaker 3: I can I can argue with you, we can fight,
- 25:58Speaker 3: and we're still friends. And that's the one. There's usually
- 26:01Speaker 3: at least one, if not two guys. You can live
- 26:03Speaker 3: with a pitching coach, you can live with a hitting coach.
- 26:05Speaker 3: But there's usually one or two requests you get. Maybe
- 26:08Speaker 3: Pooles wanted to push a little bit more on that. Okay, fine,
- 26:12Speaker 3: but the Angels they suck. They're about to get their
- 26:14Speaker 3: house swept by the White Sox. They are not good.
- 26:17Speaker 3: They're not good. No, Ulpen's terrible, some of the moves.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Cakuchi's hurt now, I mean it's it's I.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Don't know, it's falling fast.
- 26:26Speaker 3: I mean, Kakucie just came out after two innings. That's
- 26:28Speaker 3: not good. No. I mean, I'm assuming again you might
- 26:31Speaker 3: not be hurt, but I'm guessing he's hurt. Why would
- 26:32Speaker 3: he come out off for two innings?
- 26:34Speaker 1: I have to imagine. I mean, it's not like they
- 26:36Speaker 1: drove up his pitch count. It's as they haven't even scored.
- 26:40Speaker 5: Let's go, let's let's go to the contract demands. Anytime
- 26:44Speaker 5: Ardi moreno is demanded to spend more money on something
- 26:48Speaker 5: that may or may not help the team. He usually
- 26:52Speaker 5: goes in the other direction. Oh, we got to pay
- 26:54Speaker 5: Albert wants this amount of money, he wants this many
- 26:57Speaker 5: million dollars. Well, we're gonna pay this guy eight hundred
- 27:00Speaker 5: thousand and give them one year contract. Oh, you want
- 27:02Speaker 5: to bring in a new director of baseball operations. Oh
- 27:05Speaker 5: he wants to revamp my entire minor league system.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Nah.
- 27:09Speaker 5: Sorry, I don't think that stuff's worth it. Like exact
- 27:12Speaker 5: quote that he gave somebody who he was going to
- 27:15Speaker 5: bring in as his baseball player director of baseball operations.
- 27:19Speaker 4: No, I don't think the minor league is worth it.
- 27:25Speaker 2: The deal for Suzuki should say everything you need to know.
- 27:28Speaker 1: He's the only pitch he's the only coach in baseball
- 27:30Speaker 1: manager in baseball.
- 27:31Speaker 2: That's said.
- 27:31Speaker 5: Not Suzuki's fault. Not Suzuki's fault at all.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I know that I'm saying the way that you treat
- 27:38Speaker 1: someone in the business.
- 27:41Speaker 4: Uh.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Lastly, Carlos Mendoza said no conversations with David Stearns or
- 27:44Speaker 1: other team leaders about his status. This was before the
- 27:48Speaker 1: Mets pounding the Nationals and having the inning of their
- 27:51Speaker 1: lives or at least of the season thanks to what
- 27:55Speaker 1: was that dude's name, Vivas with the with the little
- 27:58Speaker 1: error ball sneaks under, turns into a nice, chunky inning
- 28:02Speaker 1: for the Mets and they take down the nationals Ate
- 28:05Speaker 1: nothing yet Lttel's just really going through it. To me,
- 28:08Speaker 1: that's just a total I started late. Some guys just
- 28:11Speaker 1: really struggled to it.
- 28:12Speaker 2: He gave up a ton of homers last year too,
- 28:14Speaker 2: That's true. He's continuing that trend.
- 28:16Speaker 1: That's true, but he was but still like he was
- 28:18Speaker 1: pretty good last Year's a lot of solo homers.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Like he still put up some d still giving up
- 28:23Speaker 2: number homers though I know he's still giving up a
- 28:25Speaker 2: lot of homer. It's a tough national good bound period.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Yeah, Boba schett homer, so did Soto Sodo. I know,
- 28:33Speaker 1: maybe the hing for a few days whatever. They'll be fine.
- 28:36Speaker 1: But I mean they might not be fine, but he'll
- 28:38Speaker 1: be fine. Travis Bizana debuted yesterday and in the bottom
- 28:42Speaker 1: of the ninth inning, two outs, runner on second, they
- 28:47Speaker 1: intentionally walked him and it worked to perfection because George
- 28:51Speaker 1: Valeria came up and hitter three pitches ballgame. Imagine if
- 28:56Speaker 1: you made your debut and you're like all right here.
- 28:58Speaker 2: It is. I could I could.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Hit the one they lost.
- 29:01Speaker 2: One nothing they lost. I'm saying it worked.
- 29:04Speaker 3: First about he got well, he got his doors blown off.
- 29:06Speaker 3: His first I tuned in, his doors got blown off.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Then he got a walk. Martinez, Yeah, over two with
- 29:12Speaker 2: two walks.
- 29:13Speaker 1: But Kevin Cash like, yeah, I don't really know this
- 29:16Speaker 1: guy yet, but I'm good.
- 29:18Speaker 2: We'll take the pinch hitter off the bench. That was smart,
- 29:21Speaker 2: very smart, very smart. But you just don't see that often.
- 29:23Speaker 3: By the Razor doing really well this year, but they
- 29:25Speaker 3: are seem to make all the right moves.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Cash is really good.
- 29:29Speaker 5: Cash learned from some guy named Tito. He did humhmm,
- 29:34Speaker 5: wondering how well in Cincinnati.
- 29:36Speaker 1: This came out a couple of days ago, but I
- 29:38Speaker 1: just didn't get to shout them out. And I don't
- 29:40Speaker 1: think we've said either of their names on our show
- 29:42Speaker 1: this year. The players of the Week this week from
- 29:47Speaker 1: last week. It gets announced on Monday. Carlos Cortes, Orlando native,
- 29:52Speaker 1: who's hitting for the A's. It's twenty eight years old,
- 29:56Speaker 1: one of the best contact and barrel rates in baseball.
- 29:59Speaker 1: It just it's the cool baseball storylines. You don't get
- 30:02Speaker 1: this in basketball where Okay, I'll give you the other
- 30:04Speaker 1: one Il tomorrow Vargas, who has been in the BIGS
- 30:08Speaker 1: for a while. It is like a ten year vep
- 30:09Speaker 1: but he's never hit like this. As of a day
- 30:12Speaker 1: or two ago, he was leading in the National League
- 30:13Speaker 1: in many offensive categories. He's thirty four years old.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Yeah, he still is leading a bunch of stuff crazy.
- 30:19Speaker 1: He's been on the Diamondbacks four times. They've sold his contract,
- 30:22Speaker 1: bought his contract, released him, signed him. He's not a
- 30:26Speaker 1: coveted player, and all of a sudden.
- 30:29Speaker 2: He's ripping. So I just wanted to shout out those
- 30:32Speaker 2: two guys.
- 30:32Speaker 1: We don't often say who oh this person at the
- 30:35Speaker 1: best six days, but I just felt like those two
- 30:37Speaker 1: names combined were just a good picture of what.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Baseball can do. I really see that.
- 30:44Speaker 1: It's not like, oh, all of a sudden, here's this
- 30:46Speaker 1: thirty five year old basketball player who's the best player
- 30:48Speaker 1: in the sport for a few weeks. Basketball actually kind
- 30:51Speaker 1: of has the best player in the sport for like
- 30:53Speaker 1: twenty two years.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Prom's still really good.
- 30:58Speaker 5: If you want to talk about traveled, go look at
- 31:01Speaker 5: Hildamar Vargus.
- 31:03Speaker 2: My thing though classic can you hear me.
- 31:06Speaker 5: Okay, either way you can still hear me. But scottyilamorro
- 31:10Speaker 5: Vargus's baseball reference page is legity Schmidty like it is long,
- 31:16Speaker 5: it is lengthy, it's got winter ball. I think he
- 31:19Speaker 5: even played winter ball this year. Yes, he had one
- 31:23Speaker 5: hundred and eighty five played appearances in winter ball in Venezuela,
- 31:28Speaker 5: hit three seventy. So just just go take a look
- 31:33Speaker 5: at it.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Okay, Scott's looking at it right now. That's why you
- 31:39Speaker 3: can't speak.
- 31:41Speaker 4: No, No, I get it.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I'm waiting for coach Scott. We can handle this. We've
- 31:45Speaker 2: done this plenty times without you. Audios.
- 31:49Speaker 1: If you have two minutes, because that's what you're about
- 31:51Speaker 1: to have, what are you going to and actually you
- 31:53Speaker 1: can you have to throw it to crats because for
- 31:55Speaker 1: me to get my thing, that's how this works.
- 31:58Speaker 2: What are you bringing up?
- 31:58Speaker 3: I have two minutes right now to talk about anything
- 32:00Speaker 3: I want to talk about. Can we talk about Cam Schlitzler.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Let's talk Cam Schlitzler. First of all, no, I didn't
- 32:05Speaker 3: win my bet, but that dude is unbelievably nasty. He
- 32:09Speaker 3: goes ninety nine to one hundred with a ninety four
- 32:12Speaker 3: mile on our cutter ball, and he was just punching
- 32:16Speaker 3: tickets last night crowds against de Groham, who pitched really well.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Of course, Judge hit a homer and Bellinger had a
- 32:22Speaker 3: big double, But did you see Cam Schlitzler. We need
- 32:24Speaker 3: to talk about this guy maybe a little bit more.
- 32:27Speaker 5: I mean, when Todd was on, when Fraser was on,
- 32:29Speaker 5: he was talking about how this dude could be like
- 32:33Speaker 5: in that cy Young type of category, like they're talking
- 32:36Speaker 5: about like is he going to be that next like
- 32:38Speaker 5: Ace type of guy? And I'm like, all right, I
- 32:40Speaker 5: gotta start looking because you have a good game in
- 32:45Speaker 5: the postseason, kind of like you Savage had a good game,
- 32:48Speaker 5: and you're like, okay, he added that cutter thing, which
- 32:51Speaker 5: I felt like last year he was throwing a cutter,
- 32:54Speaker 5: but it was just his fastball cutting. And now he's
- 32:57Speaker 5: doing it from that six six armslot. And I don't
- 33:03Speaker 5: know how many times I've heard like he was only
- 33:05Speaker 5: throwing eighty.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Nine to ninety one in college.
- 33:07Speaker 5: And then the Yankees unlock some new things in their
- 33:10Speaker 5: biomechanic lab, like you better, you better listen. If the
- 33:14Speaker 5: Yankees are trying to figure something out Normally the Yankees
- 33:17Speaker 5: pitchers they just get They just are like, yep, build
- 33:21Speaker 5: him up in the lab, and then they trade him.
- 33:23Speaker 5: So there's something different about Cam Schlitler because they've actually
- 33:26Speaker 5: kept him and it's paying off for him.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Just the best rotation in baseball. That's the next question
- 33:34Speaker 3: once they get imagine when they get Garrett Cole and
- 33:37Speaker 3: Carlos Rdon back and then they I thought they had
- 33:40Speaker 3: an interesting talk last night on UH. I think it
- 33:42Speaker 3: was the Rangers that I was watching. They said, if
- 33:46Speaker 3: Cam Schlitler does the way things he's done Max Reed's
- 33:48Speaker 3: and the things he's done, Garrett Cole comes back, Garrett Cole,
- 33:51Speaker 3: Rdon is pitching, Well, he's probably not. In this conversation.
- 33:54Speaker 3: You go to a game one of a five game series.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Who starts Game one for you?
- 33:59Speaker 4: Max Freed?
- 34:03Speaker 2: It's tough.
- 34:03Speaker 3: It's an argument. Who do you think is got over
- 34:09Speaker 3: Garrett Cole? If he's healthy and right.
- 34:13Speaker 5: I mean, you gotta tell me. You can't just you
- 34:14Speaker 5: can't just tell me like what Garret Cole am I getting?
- 34:16Speaker 5: Am I getting cy young? Garrett Colem?
- 34:18Speaker 4: I getting?
- 34:19Speaker 3: If he's healthy and right, he's Garrett Cole.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Garrett Cole is healthy in cooking.
- 34:26Speaker 5: If Garrett Cole comes back three e RA after Tommy
- 34:30Speaker 5: John surgery, after the age of thirty, I think that's
- 34:33Speaker 5: a successful season and I'm not starting him game one.
- 34:36Speaker 5: If Garrett Cole comes back and he's got a one
- 34:39Speaker 5: eight e R he's punching you know, eleven guys per nine, Yeah,
- 34:44Speaker 5: then I'm throwing Garrett Cole because he clearly is locked
- 34:48Speaker 5: in and clicked in. We just talked about it last
- 34:51Speaker 5: year all the time. Shane Bieber even talked about when
- 34:53Speaker 5: he came on the show, like some days you just
- 34:56Speaker 5: don't feel it right after you come back from Tommy
- 34:58Speaker 5: John surgery. So it really have to depend. If he
- 35:00Speaker 5: has no blips in the radar, I'm going to Garrett Cole.
- 35:03Speaker 5: If he does, I'm going to Max Free it's okay.
- 35:06Speaker 5: If it's okay if Cam Schlitler starts Game two or
- 35:10Speaker 5: game three, because last I checked, nobody is getting knocked
- 35:14Speaker 5: out of a five game series in two games. So
- 35:17Speaker 5: to me, I want the experience throwing Game one. So
- 35:20Speaker 5: whoever is the most experienced in or whoever is the
- 35:24Speaker 5: most whoever is the hottest going into that series, that's
- 35:28Speaker 5: who I throw first. And right now it's Max Freed
- 35:31Speaker 5: because I don't know what Garrett Cole.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Has and in an ideal world, isn't right left right
- 35:36Speaker 1: fun mm, so you've got that if you want it.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Hey, J, do you think that's Do you think that's
- 35:43Speaker 4: tough in a series?
- 35:45Speaker 2: No?
- 35:45Speaker 3: I never cared.
- 35:46Speaker 2: It didn't matter at all.
- 35:47Speaker 5: I think it's I think it's overblown now now teams
- 35:51Speaker 5: like teams, teams mix up their lineups, so you're like, okay,
- 35:54Speaker 5: well if you throw a lefty tomorrow, then all these
- 35:57Speaker 5: righty's that sat on the bench today because Garrett Cole
- 36:00Speaker 5: started Game one are playing the next day.
- 36:04Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 36:04Speaker 5: So that's why I asked AJ, because it's like, you know,
- 36:06Speaker 5: they he's the starter, so he's going to start no
- 36:09Speaker 5: matter He's going to start, no matter what lefty, righty.
- 36:11Speaker 4: So why would that matter from one night to the next?
- 36:14Speaker 4: Is my thing?
- 36:15Speaker 1: I think more importantly, let's use the Phillies as an example,
- 36:18Speaker 1: since they've been awful against left handed starting pitching. If
- 36:22Speaker 1: I'm facing them in a series, right, just whatever team
- 36:24Speaker 1: I am, I just I want my lefty in the
- 36:26Speaker 1: series as early as possible.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Because I want to try and rack a couple of wins,
- 36:29Speaker 2: were trying to steal win.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Yeah, get a game one win, and if it's a
- 36:32Speaker 1: five or seven, depending on the off days, whatever, I
- 36:34Speaker 1: want that pitcher popping up again as soon as possible.
- 36:37Speaker 2: That would be the focal point over the right.
- 36:40Speaker 5: I mean, Phillies starting pitchers last year shut down the
- 36:43Speaker 5: Dodgers lineup who ended up being the World Series because
- 36:46Speaker 5: they threw They threw Sanchez, they threw Suarez and they
- 36:51Speaker 5: threw Lozardo and it was like something ridiculous like show
- 36:54Speaker 5: hay was OH for eleven or OH for twelve and
- 36:57Speaker 5: on the year pitchers with like a certain arm angle
- 37:01Speaker 5: here or there, but they were also their three best pitchers.
- 37:03Speaker 5: They weren't gonna throw Nola in there just to like
- 37:06Speaker 5: just throw them in.
- 37:11Speaker 1: But we're here talking live Seekeek's just helping us get
- 37:13Speaker 1: ready for games tonight because you know where to go
- 37:15Speaker 1: if you'd like to buy some tickets. And the matchups
- 37:18Speaker 1: are supreme this evening. First off, I mean, we're not
- 37:22Speaker 1: going to talk too much about it. Yesterday's Yankees Rangers
- 37:24Speaker 1: game was really that was good baseball.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Good pitching, really good defensive plays.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Judge hit a monster shot that ended up being the
- 37:31Speaker 1: difference maker. But tonight, I want to see what Elmer
- 37:34Speaker 1: Rodriguez looks like he's pitching in this one. Boone had
- 37:37Speaker 1: a funny comment too that I caught. Let me see
- 37:40Speaker 1: if I can find it real quick. His advice for him.
- 37:42Speaker 1: The media asked Boonie what he's telling Elmer Rodriguez.
- 37:46Speaker 2: He said, have.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Fun, spit in their eye and go be you perfect
- 37:52Speaker 1: great love that. Other games, in case you're looking around,
- 37:56Speaker 1: Trek Scougle is pitching in Atlanta against j R. Richie
- 38:01Speaker 1: Richie making his second start. I think Richie's a Tigers fan,
- 38:04Speaker 1: and he was at the game that you called the
- 38:06Speaker 1: Tigers Mariners Marathon. I'm pretty sure I read that the
- 38:09Speaker 1: other day that he sat.
- 38:10Speaker 3: There gamers first.
- 38:13Speaker 1: That's crazy about wiping it off though right after and
- 38:15Speaker 1: being like, yeah, I'm good.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Anyway, was like first pitch, Hey, save that.
- 38:20Speaker 5: Oh you know sometimes they throw the first pitch at
- 38:23Speaker 5: the gate of the year and they like throw the
- 38:25Speaker 5: ball like screw that we're hitting a dinger.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Save the second one. Yes, this is the one I'm
- 38:31Speaker 2: talking about.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Oh, Seattle area native, he was up there in Seattle
- 38:35Speaker 1: when the Mariners took down the Tigers with the fifteen
- 38:38Speaker 1: inning Alds Game five. That AJ was a part of
- 38:41Speaker 1: the broadcast, so he sat through it. Good for him
- 38:45Speaker 1: other ones. And then we'll tell you about how you
- 38:48Speaker 1: can get the easy tickets logan web against Christopher Sanchez
- 38:51Speaker 1: and Philly. See if the Phillies can put two in
- 38:53Speaker 1: a row. We're talking about the Phillies coming up in
- 38:55Speaker 1: a moment. But anyway, let's talk about how you can
- 38:57Speaker 1: get the tickets on SIKI territory one zero zero, ten
- 39:00Speaker 1: percent off your next set of tickets at Sea Geek.
- 39:02Speaker 1: That's ten percent off any set of ticket doesn't have
- 39:05Speaker 1: to be baseball. We're just a baseball show. So we're
- 39:06Speaker 1: going to talk about that. But we'll talk about concerts
- 39:08Speaker 1: at some point when we had some concerts. I know,
- 39:10Speaker 1: ag it's got some stuff on the schedule. Promo code
- 39:12Speaker 1: territory one zero. Make sure you click the link in
- 39:14Speaker 1: the description to download the app.
- 39:16Speaker 2: You can. You can autatically add it.
- 39:17Speaker 1: To your account so you can use it later. Yeah,
- 39:20Speaker 1: we should look at that later. You didn't you say
- 39:22Speaker 1: you were going to sell some tickets.
- 39:23Speaker 3: I got some tickets I need to sell.
- 39:26Speaker 2: I know the site for you or the app for you.
- 39:28Speaker 3: I know I gotta do it. I gotta put in
- 39:30Speaker 3: charge of that too, and I don't know what I'm doing.
- 39:32Speaker 2: See, I will help you.
- 39:33Speaker 1: This is actually fun because Sea Geeks signed up with
- 39:35Speaker 1: us for the whole year, which is awesome props to them.
- 39:38Speaker 1: So we can not just go through the buying experience,
- 39:40Speaker 1: but we're going to go through your selling experience and
- 39:44Speaker 1: find out nervous, how you sell and what it goes for.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Don't be nervous. They help you through that process too.
- 39:49Speaker 1: And like I've talked about, you've got the green or
- 39:52Speaker 1: the red. You just don't want to put your tickets
- 39:54Speaker 1: up and be the red where tickets sell them for
- 39:58Speaker 1: too high. U.
- 40:01Speaker 3: My son has a game, has games the weekend of
- 40:04Speaker 3: the concert. I was supposed to go to Okay, and
- 40:08Speaker 3: it's gonna possibly be for the regular season conference championship
- 40:11Speaker 3: and it's in San Antonio, so I'm not gonna miss that.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Yeah, what's the concert?
- 40:19Speaker 4: Answer?
- 40:20Speaker 3: Morgan Wallen Young Jeezy oh, Alana Rizza. She's already going,
- 40:26Speaker 3: She's already going, already already made that one.
- 40:30Speaker 4: I could totally have more seats. It would be great.
- 40:32Speaker 4: I love Morgan. I love him.
- 40:36Speaker 3: She she already cheered. He's mad at me because I'm
- 40:38Speaker 3: not going because she's thinking that I was going to
- 40:40Speaker 3: introduce her to Morgan wall which I would have if
- 40:42Speaker 3: I was there, Probably not, but probably not. I mean
- 40:46Speaker 3: I would have introduced myself to him.
- 40:51Speaker 2: You guys can have all the Morgan Wallen chatter that
- 40:53Speaker 2: you want. Life wants to buy him exactly.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Hey, Wan Soto complained of forum tightness after completing pregame
- 40:59Speaker 1: defensive word on Friday. Dealt with it this past weekend, MRI,
- 41:03Speaker 1: no structural damage is going to DH while getting treatment
- 41:05Speaker 1: maybe outfield this week.
- 41:07Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 41:08Speaker 1: I mean, as long as the staff it's not his calf.
- 41:12Speaker 1: He hit a home or yesterday and no offense to want.
- 41:14Speaker 1: But you're not really concerned about having him in the
- 41:17Speaker 1: outfield every day.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Actually a bit better at saving.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Runs, run prevention, run prevention, a.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Good at throwing guys out.
- 41:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that's because everybody ran on him. It's because everybody
- 41:31Speaker 3: ran on him.
- 41:31Speaker 2: There's that.
- 41:32Speaker 5: Hey, I'm just saying, I don't didn't have to give
- 41:35Speaker 5: you the whole story. And it was also from right field,
- 41:37Speaker 5: so now he's in left.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Did you see that they I held code I senga
- 41:44Speaker 1: and everyone thinks it's a phantom my own lumbar spine inflammation.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Isn't that what Chris Bryan knows?
- 41:52Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know. I think he's got more more
- 41:56Speaker 2: going on. Maybe not.
- 41:57Speaker 5: I don't know, Ryan, Chris Bryan didn't know that the
- 42:01Speaker 5: Rockies didn't know prospect.
- 42:04Speaker 1: When you know, I read tweets all day from writers
- 42:08Speaker 1: and they will usually say so and so I held
- 42:11Speaker 1: this injury. So multiple people that I follow put the
- 42:15Speaker 1: injury in quotes, and they never do it in the past.
- 42:22Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 42:23Speaker 3: Maybe it's like you, maybe like when he y'all said
- 42:25Speaker 3: if the Mets sent him a triple A, they won't
- 42:27Speaker 3: be able to sign any more Japanese guys, me, didn't
- 42:33Speaker 3: you say that?
- 42:33Speaker 2: That was the day last year with them too?
- 42:36Speaker 3: Didn't you say that?
- 42:38Speaker 2: I think that.
- 42:39Speaker 1: First of all, answer the question.
- 42:43Speaker 2: You guys are such garbage.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Answer the question, rookie, we demand that you answered the quote,
- 42:49Speaker 1: I Sanga wasn't recruiting. There's your answer, Code I Sanga
- 42:52Speaker 1: is who's got the most money for me?
- 42:54Speaker 2: Mets? Okay?
- 42:55Speaker 1: Cool, Rookie Sazaki is okay, everyone can pay me a
- 43:00Speaker 1: out the same, what's your recruiting pitch? That's why every
- 43:03Speaker 1: team lined up and had all these presentations for him.
- 43:07Speaker 1: For quode I sang, I was just like, yo, we
- 43:09Speaker 1: got the most money. A lot of teams think you're
- 43:10Speaker 1: an injury concern and there's some command issues, but we'll
- 43:14Speaker 1: throw more money at you.
- 43:15Speaker 2: He's like, cool, thanks, different story.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Did not answer the question, way to go.
- 43:21Speaker 2: What's the question?
- 43:21Speaker 3: Word solider? What's the word solider?
- 43:25Speaker 2: The question was did you not see you?
- 43:27Speaker 1: Guys are trying to compare Roki Sasaki to quote, I
- 43:30Speaker 1: s Yes, splits Trey's Savage is back.
- 43:36Speaker 2: They were pumped. That was a good ticket yesterday, don't
- 43:39Speaker 2: you think?
- 43:40Speaker 4: Yes?
- 43:40Speaker 3: He looked too.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Splitter still splits five and a third shutout, four hits,
- 43:46Speaker 1: three strikeouts, no walks. Blue Jays snapped the Red Sox
- 43:49Speaker 1: three game winning streak. This is going to be good.
- 43:53Speaker 2: You.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Savage postgame said, I broke a lot of bats tonight,
- 43:56Speaker 1: so that's as good as a strikeout to me. I
- 43:58Speaker 1: was just out there feeling myself. Oh he's feeling it.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:03Speaker 1: That's a good season debut for a dude that's already
- 44:05Speaker 1: a mini legend in Toronto.
- 44:07Speaker 2: They freaking love him. It was lit up there.
- 44:10Speaker 1: They sold like one hundred thousand hot dogs because they
- 44:12Speaker 1: do those special deals up there and then they post
- 44:14Speaker 1: how many they sold.
- 44:16Speaker 2: It was a good night, it was.
- 44:17Speaker 3: He pitched good, he looked good, he looked healthy. By
- 44:20Speaker 3: the way, I love game Changer, Scott. Don't ever doubt that.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Don't ever I actually miss using Game Changer.
- 44:25Speaker 2: I've never doubt it.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Trust me, I never doubted it. Can I just rip
- 44:29Speaker 1: through a few other injuries too, while we have time.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Justin Steele set back forum, checking out forum, Yeah, checking
- 44:38Speaker 2: out the arm, forearm, elbow whatever. Not great.
- 44:42Speaker 1: He's pretty bummed. We don't know yet what it is,
- 44:44Speaker 1: but he's got to get checked. He's shut down.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Jonathan Nindia had season ending shoulder surgery.
- 44:50Speaker 3: He's been a disappointment since he went to Casey. Actually's
- 44:52Speaker 3: been a disppointed. He was just pointing kind of at
- 44:54Speaker 3: the end.
- 44:54Speaker 2: In Cincinnati too, they won the Brady Singer trade. Oh easy.
- 44:59Speaker 1: They won teammate for teammate Pete Fairbanks. I l has
- 45:03Speaker 1: some nerve issue. Mm hmm, that's the Marlins closer that
- 45:07Speaker 1: I mean. Phillips looked great last night, but the Marlins
- 45:11Speaker 1: have a decent bullpen. You'd like Pete back. We'll see
- 45:13Speaker 1: how long that is. And lastly, kind of buried the
- 45:15Speaker 1: lead here crochetes on.
- 45:16Speaker 2: The il shoulder.
- 45:20Speaker 3: That's a big one.
- 45:21Speaker 2: That's a big one.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Hey, he hasn't looked completely right yet this year except
- 45:25Speaker 1: for Saturday. He pitched six shutout innings.
- 45:27Speaker 3: At least, what do we say, Cratch, You never want
- 45:29Speaker 3: to see shoulder.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Never, never, never never never. But that's a.
- 45:38Speaker 5: That's a big that's a big bummer for the Socks.
- 45:42Speaker 5: They gotta start scoring some runs somewhere.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Oh, we did a lot in a little bit of
- 45:56Speaker 1: time to show freaking flew today. George Springer activated by
- 46:00Speaker 1: the Blue Jays. I don't think he's in the starting lineup,
- 46:02Speaker 1: but he's gonna play, uh this week and they play
- 46:05Speaker 1: Boston tonight.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Crats hats.
- 46:11Speaker 5: Best pitching staff. They could trade every one of them
- 46:13Speaker 5: and they still have the best pitching staff in the game.
- 46:16Speaker 5: Marlin's hat today, I just like.
- 46:17Speaker 1: The you know, you can get clipped. Someone might clip
- 46:23Speaker 1: that and then take you out of context.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Not that you guys do it. Okay, Marlin's pitched pretty
- 46:36Speaker 2: well against a.
- 46:37Speaker 3: Good pitching staff, but They don't have the best pitching
- 46:40Speaker 3: staff in the history of the world.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Times ten Sandil contract against. That's a good pitching tonight, right.
- 46:46Speaker 3: They have They have number every stop at the level
- 46:50Speaker 3: hey ever stop A A ball, A plus, double A,
- 46:54Speaker 3: triple A Complex League, Dominican Complex League, Venezuelan Complex League.
