- 0:26What is going on, everybody?
- 0:28Welcome to the Clydesdale Media Roundtable,
- 0:31where apparently you have
- 0:32no idea when we're going to appear.
- 0:35It has been one of those
- 0:36weeks at work for me.
- 0:38I know you guys have had those too,
- 0:40where you're on a project
- 0:42and like every two minutes
- 0:44and another emergency
- 0:45meeting is being held.
- 0:49I'm ready for the weekend so
- 0:51bad right now.
- 0:51I'm...
- 0:55I don't know if I'm looking
- 0:56forward to the weekend or not.
- 1:00What's up?
- 1:05Audio is messed up.
- 1:06Did you hear me?
- 1:07Yeah.
- 1:08Oh, I said, I said,
- 1:09I'm not sure if I'm looking
- 1:10forward to the weekend or not,
- 1:11because it's my last class
- 1:13tomorrow at the gym.
- 1:14Oh, yeah, I came fast.
- 1:17I know.
- 1:19It's sad.
- 1:21Um, and things are being sold
- 1:25And wait, there's such a delay.
- 1:30Something's wrong with my computer.
- 1:33I'm going to go get, um,
- 1:34headphones or something.
- 1:37Okay.
- 1:41So what's going on, Corey?
- 1:41What's going on, Chris?
- 1:43I'm glad you guys could be here today.
- 1:46Um,
- 1:49We don't have a big agenda for today.
- 1:52We're just here to shoot the shit today.
- 1:53So if you guys have questions for us,
- 1:56shoot them in the chat.
- 1:58We'll answer whatever we can.
- 2:04As cat is trying to get headphones in.
- 2:07No, I can hear you.
- 2:08You're just, you're glitching.
- 2:09I don't know if it's me or you.
- 2:12So everything's reading fine on my end.
- 2:15Okay.
- 2:15And I can hear you fine.
- 2:16You're it's just your visuals off.
- 2:19Corey, whose visual's messed up?
- 2:22Is it me or is it Scott?
- 2:23I need to know.
- 2:24I don't know.
- 2:24I don't know.
- 2:35All right, we'll keep talking.
- 2:37We're not glitching or anything.
- 2:39Movement's good.
- 2:40Oh, it's me, yeah.
- 2:41I don't know what's going on.
- 2:43It's my internet.
- 2:51Kat, show me strong.
- 2:54So you're not glitching at all to me.
- 2:57So it must be something on your end.
- 3:02Except for now, maybe she's frozen.
- 3:09Okay.
- 3:11I'm back.
- 3:12I don't know if this is any better.
- 3:17You weren't ever bad to me,
- 3:18so we would need...
- 3:21Corey and Andrew said you
- 3:23were frozen at times,
- 3:25but maybe it's fixed now.
- 3:26Who knows?
- 3:27I don't know.
- 3:28I just went off my Wi-Fi and
- 3:30onto my iPhone.
- 3:32But what Corey's referring
- 3:34to is we're... Hello?
- 3:44What?
- 3:44He said you're unfrozen now.
- 3:45I don't know.
- 3:51Okay.
- 3:51I'm afraid to talk.
- 3:55No, you go.
- 3:58Um,
- 3:59we were watching Alexis Raptus and her
- 4:02interview with seven today.
- 4:03And she was talking about
- 4:04how she hangs out with Adam
- 4:05and stays at his house and
- 4:06he has two kids and she's
- 4:07like part of the family.
- 4:08And I mentioned that I was
- 4:09getting Katrin and Ben vibes.
- 4:12And then I was hoping that
- 4:13that was not the case.
- 4:15And so that's where Corey's
- 4:16reference to show me strong,
- 4:18show me smart comes into play.
- 4:20Um,
- 4:22I don't know what my creepy
- 4:24vibes kicked in I have not
- 4:31seen anything visually as
- 4:35creepy vibey as Ben and
- 4:36Katrin when I see the two
- 4:38of them together yeah well
- 4:40that's good so let's let's
- 4:46hope that that's the truth
- 4:48yes that would be nice
- 4:53But then again,
- 4:54Ben shoved ice down Cole's
- 4:56pants at the end of a race.
- 4:59That was the weirdest thing ever.
- 5:04What was that?
- 5:06You and I,
- 5:07it was the end of the West Coast Classic.
- 5:09I know.
- 5:09It was right in front of our faces.
- 5:11Right.
- 5:12And Ben reached down Cole's
- 5:14pants with ice to cool him off.
- 5:18After that ruck run in the heat.
- 5:22Oh, good Lord.
- 5:24I know.
- 5:25I've never seen anything
- 5:26like that by a coach.
- 5:30And I remember he had his
- 5:31daughter with him and he
- 5:32was like screaming at his
- 5:34daughter to go get his, you know,
- 5:35his bag or something like, you know,
- 5:37and everyone was rushing around frantic.
- 5:39And then remember one time
- 5:40one of his athletes was
- 5:41being interviewed like in a
- 5:42post event interview and he
- 5:43was like tossing them a
- 5:45protein shake or something like,
- 5:47like they couldn't wait the
- 5:49three minutes it was going
- 5:50to take for the interview
- 5:51to like get nutrients in
- 5:52their bodies for the next event.
- 5:54He was so dramatic.
- 5:55It was so weird.
- 5:56Just to set this up,
- 5:57like when an athlete finishes,
- 6:00they're usually there.
- 6:01They usually talk to the
- 6:02coach over the barricade.
- 6:05And then once they kind of
- 6:07get through that and then
- 6:09out to the regular area,
- 6:11they may huddle up for
- 6:12something or do whatever.
- 6:14This was Ben going over top
- 6:16the barricade to shove ice
- 6:19down Cole Sager's pants.
- 6:21Yeah.
- 6:21He actually reached underneath.
- 6:22There was, you know, it was, uh,
- 6:24the barricade was that he
- 6:24reached underneath and was yeah.
- 6:26Administering ice to his crotch,
- 6:31like right in front of me.
- 6:32And I've never,
- 6:36ever seen that by any other coach.
- 6:38No.
- 6:40Well, that's like the weird, um, was it,
- 6:42I don't know if it was a
- 6:42noble commercial or it was
- 6:44some kind of CF and E
- 6:45commercial where they were catcher and,
- 6:47and Brooke and all these
- 6:48people were doing like this rowing event.
- 6:52And Katrin comes off the
- 6:53rower and she's like
- 6:53hyperventilating and he
- 6:55goes over and like grabs
- 6:55her sports bra and starts
- 6:57pulling it up and down on
- 6:59her chest like she couldn't
- 7:00breathe or something.
- 7:00And I was like, ew, that is so weird.
- 7:06Yes, that is what she said, Heidi.
- 7:08He was administering ice to his crotch.
- 7:11Yep.
- 7:14Holly.
- 7:18It was one of the weirdest moments ever.
- 7:20that I have covered in the CrossFit space.
- 7:23And,
- 7:24and I had already witnessed weirdness
- 7:27and had told you guys about
- 7:28some stuff that I thought was odd.
- 7:30And anyway,
- 7:31so we were already going into
- 7:33it with that lens, but yeah,
- 7:34that was extra creepy.
- 7:36So bizarre.
- 7:38So I've heard this word on
- 7:40the street like years ago.
- 7:42Are we back on this?
- 7:44Has everything come around full circle?
- 7:53Corey Scott,
- 7:54I don't give a damn how bad I
- 7:55seem after an event,
- 7:57keep the ice away from my crotch.
- 7:58Right.
- 7:59I mean, as a man, I'm just thinking like,
- 8:01I don't want that anyway,
- 8:04even if it would help me.
- 8:06It just didn't make sense.
- 8:11Yeah.
- 8:12Would you guys say that
- 8:13Bergeron is inappropriate as athletes?
- 8:17No, no.
- 8:20Yeah.
- 8:22don't know how we got on
- 8:23that subject but I guess
- 8:24corey made that comment
- 8:26yeah let me go back to let
- 8:27me go back to jim's go
- 8:28ahead this is what happens
- 8:30when there's too many
- 8:30emergency meetings at my
- 8:31real job and we just do a
- 8:34fly by the seat of our
- 8:35pants show with no agenda
- 8:36right well my audio is not
- 8:38working all right
- 8:41So back to the gym.
- 8:43So tomorrow's my last
- 8:44tomorrow's our last classes.
- 8:46I have an equipment list.
- 8:48I have about ninety percent
- 8:49of my equipment sold.
- 8:51There's about forty five
- 8:52different people picking up
- 8:54stuff between tomorrow and Saturday.
- 8:57I still have one rig that's assembled.
- 9:02Mike and I were at the gym last Sunday.
- 9:08Maybe Saturday or Sunday,
- 9:10taking down the one rig.
- 9:11Um,
- 9:11tomorrow we'll take down the second rig.
- 9:13There's still like, um,
- 9:16anchors like coming out of
- 9:17the floor anchors coming
- 9:18out of the wall that have to like,
- 9:20you know,
- 9:20we have to figure out how to
- 9:21make them flush with the flooring.
- 9:24Um,
- 9:25I ordered a storage unit so that
- 9:27anything that's still left over,
- 9:28like we can take over to
- 9:29the storage unit.
- 9:31Um,
- 9:31my daughter is taking a futon for her
- 9:34apartment in college.
- 9:35So we'll take that down to
- 9:36her tomorrow as well, or on Saturday.
- 9:38but it's like a lot of
- 9:39moving pieces and you know, I like,
- 9:41I'm very organized and I've got, you know,
- 9:44self sheets for every single person,
- 9:46how much they owe, what they're taking.
- 9:47And I'm in my mind, I'm thinking like,
- 9:49how am I going to organize it all?
- 9:51Cause if they all come at the same time,
- 9:53um, you know,
- 9:54I don't know what I'm going to do.
- 9:56So I'm super stressed out.
- 9:57Where's the vacuum.
- 9:59You know what the vacuum cleaner,
- 10:01it wasn't on the cell sheet.
- 10:02So I guess I'm keeping it unless, you know,
- 10:04unless someone asks about
- 10:05it when they come in tomorrow.
- 10:07That would be a tough break.
- 10:08Yeah.
- 10:10I mean,
- 10:10I should charge extra for that thing.
- 10:14Well,
- 10:15you guys have a pretty in-depth
- 10:17relationship.
- 10:18Yes.
- 10:19Me and the vacuum.
- 10:21You know,
- 10:21I was going through old pictures
- 10:23on my phone.
- 10:23Like I was cleaning out a
- 10:24bunch of stuff because I'm
- 10:25running out of space.
- 10:26And I found the picture that
- 10:28I took of my butt cheek
- 10:29from the cut on the vacuum cleaner.
- 10:35And I didn't delete it.
- 10:37Like,
- 10:37when am I ever going to need that
- 10:38picture?
- 10:42And I'm also thinking like, hey,
- 10:44why did I said why did I
- 10:45take that picture and who
- 10:46did I show it to at the time?
- 10:50I'm hoping it was just my daughter.
- 10:52But you never know.
- 11:00We're hurting Scott.
- 11:02OK.
- 11:04So I'm like emotionally
- 11:06prepared for tomorrow, I think.
- 11:08But I swear to God,
- 11:09if my members come in and
- 11:10like get me a card or bring me, you know,
- 11:14a baked good or something,
- 11:16I'm going to fucking lose it.
- 11:17And I don't want I really don't want to,
- 11:20you know, be sad.
- 11:21I know.
- 11:24Sad.
- 11:26I got to say, like.
- 11:28Like we came out,
- 11:31saw it before it was open,
- 11:33saw you like building it.
- 11:35So I'm a little sentimental myself.
- 11:37Yeah.
- 11:38And I think people around me
- 11:40that don't do CrossFit or
- 11:42that haven't known me very long,
- 11:44I don't think have a
- 11:46fraction of the concept of
- 11:48what all this means to me.
- 11:52Do you know what I mean?
- 11:54They see it like, oh, it's just the gym.
- 11:56You get to sleep in now.
- 11:56Would that be great?
- 11:57Like, yeah, I get that.
- 11:59But like,
- 11:59there's so much more to it than that.
- 12:02And it's really hard to.
- 12:05I mean,
- 12:05I try to explain it to people and
- 12:07they don't they don't quite
- 12:08comprehend it.
- 12:08And I don't think they always give me.
- 12:12The grace that I might
- 12:14require with the stress
- 12:16that I've been under the
- 12:17last couple of weeks, so we'll see.
- 12:19But yeah, I'm sad.
- 12:22Well, the way we met was.
- 12:24You came on as a guest of
- 12:27the podcast because your
- 12:29goal was to turn your
- 12:31garage gym into a real gym.
- 12:32Yeah.
- 12:35And, um,
- 12:37and you made that happen and now
- 12:39that's coming to an end.
- 12:40So I can't imagine the
- 12:42emotions you're going through.
- 12:43Yeah.
- 12:48That's a lot.
- 12:48All the way.
- 12:48What episode?
- 12:49Yeah.
- 12:49I'm so loving.
- 12:53And now we're in the thousands.
- 12:54We don't even keep track of
- 12:55episodes anymore.
- 12:56Remember that?
- 12:57Remember just the running
- 12:58tally of episode numbers we used to have?
- 12:59Like, oh, which episode is this?
- 13:02Because we have it on the thumbnail.
- 13:04I still have it on the thumbnail.
- 13:05They're all out there.
- 13:06Do you really?
- 13:07Yeah, this is one thousand eleven.
- 13:10Sweet.
- 13:11Oh, I love it.
- 13:11OK.
- 13:13All the ones.
- 13:14One thousand episodes ago
- 13:16was Kat's guest show.
- 13:19And you know how you get
- 13:20like your memories on Facebook and stuff?
- 13:22we had our first workout at
- 13:24the gym three years ago on January.
- 13:27So I'm getting all of these
- 13:29memories of guys, you know,
- 13:31one more day until we're
- 13:32open grand opening and all
- 13:33this other stuff.
- 13:34So yeah, it's really trippy.
- 13:35Yeah.
- 13:38We actually have way more
- 13:39episodes than that because
- 13:40there were all the first
- 13:41year we did semifinals.
- 13:42We did not number.
- 13:43Okay.
- 13:45Yeah.
- 13:45I figured as much.
- 13:47Do we still do, do we still do podcast?
- 13:50Like, do we still do audio?
- 13:52Yeah.
- 13:53You download on audio all the time,
- 13:55all these episodes still?
- 13:56Yep.
- 13:58Every one of them.
- 14:00Remember when we hosted
- 14:02Dave's Week in Reviews on our,
- 14:03remember when we used to
- 14:05post those for him?
- 14:07I do.
- 14:09It wasn't that long ago.
- 14:09So there are episodes of
- 14:12Weekly in Review that are
- 14:13in podcast form that are
- 14:14just on an audio form that
- 14:17are out there that we did for him,
- 14:18but not anymore.
- 14:21Yes, Corey, you were ten-ten on Tuesday.
- 14:29So, yeah.
- 14:33John Gonzalez is asking,
- 14:35why is it closing?
- 14:40It's not making any money, basically.
- 14:42The economics are very difficult for a gym,
- 14:45I think.
- 14:46I went into it specifically
- 14:48targeting people who would
- 14:51never do CrossFit.
- 14:54while an exciting concept
- 14:56and a meaningful concept
- 14:58and an impactful concept to
- 14:59the people that joined my gym,
- 15:02I only found about twenty
- 15:04five of them in my area.
- 15:07And so and I was bullish
- 15:08about the concept.
- 15:10I didn't want competitive
- 15:11athletes in my gym.
- 15:12I didn't want a bunch of
- 15:14like I didn't do any like
- 15:15military law enforcement
- 15:18type discounts and things
- 15:20like that because I just
- 15:21didn't and not that
- 15:22those people are intimidating,
- 15:23but they tend to be a
- 15:24little more fit in advance than, you know,
- 15:26the general population.
- 15:27And, um,
- 15:28I didn't want to kind of mess with
- 15:29that vibe and it, it backfired on me,
- 15:32right.
- 15:32It didn't,
- 15:33I needed to probably diversify
- 15:35earlier on in, uh,
- 15:36in the gym and I let it get too far, um,
- 15:40out of my control.
- 15:41And at that point I was, you know,
- 15:42hemorrhaging money every month,
- 15:44had to go back to corporate America, um,
- 15:46to just
- 15:47know buy groceries and and
- 15:49pay the bills and things
- 15:50like that so we've been
- 15:51running on a deficit for
- 15:52probably about a year now
- 15:54and in that year I've been
- 15:55trying to actively get out
- 15:56of my lease and get out of
- 15:57the business so I haven't
- 15:59been growing it at the same
- 16:01time that I probably should
- 16:02have been growing it
- 16:03because I just didn't have
- 16:04the bandwidth to do that so
- 16:08I know every I mean
- 16:09everyone was welcome it was
- 16:10just I mean everybody put it this way
- 16:14No one at my gym that's a
- 16:16member except for one girl
- 16:17who's seventeen can even do a pull up.
- 16:19And I've had members for two
- 16:21or three years and they
- 16:23have no desire to do a pull up.
- 16:24Right.
- 16:25They just they they they
- 16:26want to do ring rows like
- 16:28it's just a different mentality.
- 16:29They they're here for longevity.
- 16:31They're here for a social experience.
- 16:35They're not really true, you know,
- 16:39CrossFitters, if you will,
- 16:40and they don't care that they're not.
- 16:43But yeah,
- 16:44and so it turned off a whole
- 16:45bunch of other people that
- 16:48may have come to train and
- 16:49want to get better.
- 16:50I had people leave the gym
- 16:51because it wasn't competitive enough.
- 16:54You know,
- 16:54they started out and they got
- 16:55competitive and they were like,
- 16:56no one's pushing me here.
- 16:57I can't really, you know,
- 16:58get to where I'm going.
- 16:59And I completely understood
- 17:00that and was fine with them leaving.
- 17:03It's just unfortunate that
- 17:05the twenty people that I found,
- 17:06like none of them had any
- 17:07friends that wanted to do what they did.
- 17:09Like it didn't, you know,
- 17:10it wasn't as viral as I was
- 17:12hoping it would be.
- 17:14Well,
- 17:14I think you were caught in the middle
- 17:15of something because you
- 17:16didn't really mind if
- 17:17someone wanted to be competitive.
- 17:19You just didn't want the attitude of, hey,
- 17:21you've got to go raw, raw,
- 17:22raw the whole time or
- 17:25you're not welcome here.
- 17:26And that's what you were
- 17:28surrounded with in the
- 17:29CrossFit gyms around you.
- 17:30Right.
- 17:31It would be something
- 17:32different where there
- 17:33wasn't all that pressure.
- 17:34Absolutely.
- 17:36But it was this niche you
- 17:37had to like gently thread
- 17:40that needle for and it was complicated.
- 17:44way more complicated than it
- 17:45appeared on the surface.
- 17:46Yeah.
- 17:47Yeah, that's a good way to put it.
- 17:49So, yeah.
- 17:49And so, you know,
- 17:50and I did a lot of personal training.
- 17:52And when I went back to corporate America,
- 17:54I didn't have time to do
- 17:55personal training.
- 17:55And if anybody knows the
- 17:57economics of a gym,
- 17:59personal training is where
- 17:59you get most of your money.
- 18:02And so that stopped.
- 18:03And then I was just, you know, like I said,
- 18:04we were hemorrhaging every month.
- 18:06And so every month we were open,
- 18:07it was I was digging into my savings and,
- 18:09you know,
- 18:11using this corporate job to
- 18:12fund the business that was losing money.
- 18:14So it was just my landlord
- 18:17finally found someone to
- 18:18take over the lease.
- 18:19He graciously let me out of
- 18:20the lease with no penalties.
- 18:23And I'm actually even paying
- 18:25him less than what I
- 18:26technically owe him for
- 18:27some of the rent that I
- 18:28haven't paid in the last
- 18:29year because I just couldn't afford to.
- 18:31So yeah, John, if you don't know me,
- 18:35you ask me a question,
- 18:36you will get all of the
- 18:37nitty gritty details because I don't,
- 18:40punches I'm super
- 18:41transparent so he he also
- 18:43he says uh he's an
- 18:45entrepreneur as well I hear
- 18:47you I think all
- 18:48entrepreneurs go through
- 18:49the same uh shows you have
- 18:51grit to go back to
- 18:52corporate america and then
- 18:54asks what is your corporate
- 18:56american job um I am a um
- 19:00oversight and compliance um
- 19:03vice president for um the
- 19:04paypal savings account actually
- 19:07So if you have a PayPal savings account,
- 19:09I manage the oversight for that.
- 19:10Nice.
- 19:13I didn't even know that.
- 19:15Yeah, I don't work for PayPal,
- 19:16but I work for a different company,
- 19:17but that's what I do.
- 19:20And Jodi says, hemorrhaging money, a cat.
- 19:24Yeah, it's... Yep.
- 19:27Man,
- 19:27you have more grit and balls than I
- 19:29ever would to do that.
- 19:31I, um, I've tried to do that with my cast.
- 19:35Um,
- 19:36and I've wanted to quit my job to do
- 19:38just this, but it's just, well,
- 19:40I never got to that point
- 19:41where I could jump ship and
- 19:45give it a full go.
- 19:48Well, and I, I mean,
- 19:49when I look back on the
- 19:50advice that I got from
- 19:51people that I really trusted and admired,
- 19:54um,
- 19:55no one encouraged me to open up this gym.
- 19:57no one.
- 19:58They said, stay at the house.
- 20:00You don't have any overhead.
- 20:01It'll be great.
- 20:02You don't understand all the
- 20:03headaches that you're going
- 20:04to have when you open a gym.
- 20:05And I had worked at so many
- 20:07different gyms and been
- 20:08close with the owners and
- 20:09the managers that I thought
- 20:11I knew better.
- 20:12And I thought I knew
- 20:12everything and that I could handle it.
- 20:15And I had other coaches tell me,
- 20:17don't quit your day job, whatever you do.
- 20:19You have benefits.
- 20:20You have this amazing salary.
- 20:22Don't
- 20:23uh don't do it and you know
- 20:25I was very rebellious and I
- 20:26was like I'll show you I'm
- 20:28gonna do it anyway so
- 20:29that's just my personality
- 20:32corey says never got there
- 20:34yet scott well the exciting
- 20:35news is in two days I am
- 20:39officially eligible to
- 20:40retire from the state oh
- 20:43nice now so that means I
- 20:46will have a check the rest
- 20:47of my life if I walk away
- 20:49that check is not awesome
- 20:51right but now I have options
- 20:53because I have a check that
- 20:55I just need to supplement
- 20:57to get me to where I need
- 20:58to go so maybe it is a
- 21:01turning point um but we'll
- 21:03see it's exciting to know
- 21:08I've made it that far I'll
- 21:09just say that yeah no
- 21:13you've done a lot you've
- 21:14definitely I wouldn't ever
- 21:16say that you haven't you
- 21:18know accomplished
- 21:20your dreams because this is
- 21:21still your dream job and
- 21:22you're getting to do it every day,
- 21:24which is cool.
- 21:26My big thing now is, you know, I'm,
- 21:28I'm a little bit burnout from coaching.
- 21:31I'm probably going to take
- 21:32some time off from coaching,
- 21:33but let's face it.
- 21:36Like I'm a coach, like I have to coach.
- 21:40So I got to figure out what
- 21:41that looks like,
- 21:42what my next move is there.
- 21:43I do have some really good
- 21:44friends that owns gyms very
- 21:46close to me who have
- 21:47already reached out and said like, Hey,
- 21:48come work out here.
- 21:49for a couple of months and just, you know,
- 21:51get to know our community.
- 21:53And Hey,
- 21:53if you want to bring some of your
- 21:54members here and, you know,
- 21:55coach them a few times a week,
- 21:56like we can work something out.
- 21:57So everybody's,
- 21:58the whole community has been so amazing.
- 22:00And there've been local gyms
- 22:02that are coming and taking
- 22:03like half of my equipment,
- 22:05which is also great because, you know,
- 22:08what am I going to do with
- 22:09all this stuff now?
- 22:10And it's, it's helping me to like pay off
- 22:12uh, you know,
- 22:13a business loan that I had
- 22:14and the money that I owe my
- 22:15landlord and all that.
- 22:16So it's, um,
- 22:17everybody's been really great about it.
- 22:20I'm just looking forward to
- 22:21being a member somewhere, you know,
- 22:24getting my own fitness back.
- 22:26It's been months since I've
- 22:28had regularly scheduled
- 22:29workouts for myself and I
- 22:31feel it physically.
- 22:33Um,
- 22:33I don't feel as good as I have in a
- 22:35while.
- 22:35So, uh,
- 22:37Trish says you have a coach voice
- 22:41and great hair.
- 22:44Yeah, well,
- 22:44the hair's a little crazy today,
- 22:46but it needs to be washed.
- 22:51Yeah.
- 22:51So on a different subject,
- 22:53the other thing that you
- 22:54were doing when I met you
- 22:56was you were judging.
- 22:58And you dove full into that.
- 23:02At last week's Wattapalooza, the AFJ,
- 23:05the Association of Fitness Judging,
- 23:08held their first seminar
- 23:10where they trained people how to judge.
- 23:14They then judged at
- 23:16Wattapalooza and they graded the judges.
- 23:19And depending on your grades,
- 23:21you get a chance at moving up or down,
- 23:25I guess,
- 23:26in the ranks of judges for future events.
- 23:31what are your thoughts about
- 23:32the way the directions that is going?
- 23:35And Dave has mentioned them
- 23:36in his week in review as
- 23:38meeting with the AFJ and
- 23:40getting ideas from them.
- 23:42Do you think this is the
- 23:43start of a more professionalized judge?
- 23:48Um, it sounds, I hope so.
- 23:50It sounds like it.
- 23:51I was very encouraged that
- 23:53they were doing something in Wadapalooza.
- 23:54I think Wadapalooza is the
- 23:55perfect place to do it because they have,
- 23:58it's probably the one, um,
- 24:01event with the most judges
- 24:04showing up right in terms
- 24:05of the the breadth of
- 24:07divisions and how many
- 24:08heats they have and
- 24:08everything else besides
- 24:09like the old granite games
- 24:11I imagine there aren't
- 24:13there isn't another event
- 24:14that has as many judges
- 24:15present so it sounds like
- 24:17they cast a wide net I
- 24:18would love to have been a
- 24:19fly on the wall for the
- 24:20conversations post event
- 24:23you know to see like how
- 24:24the grading and judging of
- 24:25the judges goes and what
- 24:27that looks like um I know that that group
- 24:33is slightly cliquish.
- 24:35And I just would hope that
- 24:37they are partial,
- 24:38impartial rather when they're, you know,
- 24:40picking people and, and all that.
- 24:43But I think it's great.
- 24:44And I noticed that Dave did
- 24:45mention that he was working with them.
- 24:48And I think that's great too.
- 24:49I think he's finally
- 24:50starting to realize that like,
- 24:51he can't do everything himself and that,
- 24:54you know,
- 24:54reaching out to other folks and
- 24:56trying to get things right for,
- 24:59with areas where people are
- 25:00really focused on their,
- 25:02little silo I think is helpful, but, um,
- 25:06I'm pulling up, I'm looking at, uh,
- 25:08Andrew's comment here.
- 25:09Let me look at this real quick.
- 25:11They did a podcast with
- 25:12Brenton Hicks on Lex appeals podcast.
- 25:14They got Brent to judge a heat.
- 25:17I want to lose a Brent Brent Fikowski.
- 25:20Brent Fikowski.
- 25:21Yeah.
- 25:24Oh, that's cool.
- 25:28So, yeah, I mean,
- 25:29I think it's definitely a
- 25:30step in the right direction.
- 25:31Um,
- 25:33It's something, I mean,
- 25:34I even got an email about
- 25:35some competition, maybe NorCal or,
- 25:37or one of those,
- 25:39because I must be on some
- 25:40lists for judges.
- 25:41And I thought to myself, you know,
- 25:43now that I don't have to,
- 25:45I'm not chained to my business anymore.
- 25:47I could do a little more
- 25:47traveling perhaps.
- 25:49And maybe,
- 25:49maybe I'll go back and judge a
- 25:50little bit.
- 25:51That'd be fun.
- 25:53Or media.
- 25:54Well, yeah, obviously media,
- 25:58but do you know what I mean?
- 25:59Like it would be fun to,
- 26:01do some judging.
- 26:01And I actually, um,
- 26:03I've been tapped by some
- 26:04local people that do
- 26:05competitions that want me
- 26:06to help them with either judging or,
- 26:08you know,
- 26:09athlete control and that kind of stuff.
- 26:10So our scoring actually.
- 26:14So John says people won't
- 26:15care if they're not getting paid.
- 26:16I don't agree with that
- 26:17because I was a judge for many years.
- 26:19I was a volunteer for many years,
- 26:20never got paid, loved every bit of it.
- 26:23I was a volunteer from two
- 26:25thousand thirteen to two
- 26:26thousand nineteen before I
- 26:28started this podcast and
- 26:30even did a little bit of
- 26:31volunteering after.
- 26:33But there are opportunities
- 26:34now for judges to get paid.
- 26:35NorCal Classic are paying
- 26:37the judges a hundred
- 26:38dollars a day to judge for
- 26:41a three or four day event.
- 26:43So that's not nothing.
- 26:46It's not like going to get
- 26:49you a new house or anything.
- 26:50Yeah.
- 26:53And there's been other.
- 26:55other events who have paid
- 26:57the judges as well.
- 26:59And they've been paid to
- 27:00come in and judge like the
- 27:02open or judge the
- 27:04quarterfinals or semifinals
- 27:05at an affiliate as well.
- 27:07Mayhem TTT have paid for
- 27:10judges to come in and do that.
- 27:12Yeah.
- 27:13And I, I mean,
- 27:13I know the year in when I judged,
- 27:15I did probably seven or
- 27:17eight different events.
- 27:18They all required airfare hotels.
- 27:23And I happily,
- 27:24volunteered.
- 27:26And I know a lot of people
- 27:27have a problem with that.
- 27:28I remember even talking to
- 27:30Mike about it and he's like,
- 27:31I don't understand.
- 27:31Like you spend all this
- 27:32money to like go to these
- 27:34competitions and you don't
- 27:35get paid and you work them.
- 27:38And I'm like, yeah, it's,
- 27:39it's actually part of what I enjoy doing.
- 27:42So I think if you're not in the ecosystem,
- 27:45it is really hard to
- 27:46understand why people do that.
- 27:48And I know John did mention
- 27:49something about Don
- 27:50Gonzalez here about Waza.
- 27:51Wadapalooza loses.
- 27:54probably a hundred and fifty
- 27:56judges day after day.
- 27:58Um, and again,
- 27:59I think it's because they
- 27:59have such a big swath of
- 28:01judges that they need, um,
- 28:04that they typically lose
- 28:05volunteers all the time.
- 28:06And it's,
- 28:07it's for other ones from day over day.
- 28:10Um, I'm sure.
- 28:12But then there's some of us
- 28:13that are just been around
- 28:14it and all of our friends do it.
- 28:16It is really the way we get
- 28:18to go see our friends every,
- 28:21every few months.
- 28:22Yeah, I mean, that year in twenty nineteen,
- 28:24I have so many good
- 28:24memories of traveling with my friends and,
- 28:28you know,
- 28:28meals and ice cream desserts and
- 28:32just stupid things and
- 28:34running around different
- 28:35cities and getting to do
- 28:36some sightseeing and
- 28:37spending time with people like Andrew.
- 28:38Andrew and I have been have
- 28:40roomed together in houses
- 28:43probably half a dozen times
- 28:44over the course of my short
- 28:46judging stint.
- 28:50Yeah, I mean, I met Andrew at MFC.
- 28:54And we've been friends ever since.
- 28:57I'm pretty sure every single
- 28:58group judging picture that
- 28:59I have from that year in
- 29:00twenty nineteen that
- 29:01Andrew's in all of them.
- 29:09Yeah.
- 29:09So, yeah, it's a cool thing to do.
- 29:10I wouldn't mind doing it again.
- 29:12Yeah, I mean, I'm done with that.
- 29:14If I go to anything,
- 29:15it's for media now and media only.
- 29:18But yeah.
- 29:19but it doesn't mean I don't
- 29:20appreciate that or wouldn't
- 29:22want to do it if I wasn't
- 29:23doing this podcast.
- 29:26I would love to just like
- 29:27jump in for a heat or two, you know,
- 29:30like that's,
- 29:31that would be what I would want to do.
- 29:32Cause right.
- 29:33If I'm there, I want to be,
- 29:34I want to be doing media stuff.
- 29:36Yeah.
- 29:38So I just wanted to get your take on that.
- 29:42Yeah.
- 29:42I think it's good.
- 29:43The one thing I want to do.
- 29:44Oh, go ahead.
- 29:44Go ahead.
- 29:45What?
- 29:48No, no, you go ahead.
- 29:49Yeah, no, I was, I was watching the,
- 29:55do you guys remember when
- 29:56we were talking about W, what is it?
- 29:59WFP, WPF, World Fitness Project, WFP,
- 30:04right?
- 30:04And there were still invites outstanding.
- 30:09Yep.
- 30:09There's still, there's still some.
- 30:12But do you remember what I
- 30:12said about them before Guadalupalooza?
- 30:14I don't.
- 30:16I said, Hmm, I said, Hmm,
- 30:18maybe they're going to wait
- 30:18and see what happens at Lottapalooza.
- 30:21Hmm.
- 30:22Maybe Lucy Campbell is going to win.
- 30:23Hmm.
- 30:23Maybe she's going to get an invite.
- 30:25I don't know.
- 30:25Maybe.
- 30:26Did that happen?
- 30:27Yes, it did.
- 30:27You're welcome.
- 30:30I know.
- 30:30Thanks Lucy.
- 30:32That is the best story in
- 30:33CrossFit in years.
- 30:35Yeah.
- 30:37I love Lucy, Lucy Campbell.
- 30:39She's been, she was on the show.
- 30:40One of the best interviews I've ever done.
- 30:42She is.
- 30:44Outright,
- 30:45just one of the coolest chicks out there.
- 30:47And just love it.
- 30:54So that's interesting that
- 30:58they got a few new people
- 31:00based on what happened at Wadapalooza,
- 31:02which is kind of cool.
- 31:04Well,
- 31:04I think the Spiegel signing was
- 31:06probably she has the most followers.
- 31:11Oh, yeah.
- 31:13And if they're going to make it work,
- 31:14they need people to watch, right?
- 31:16So you're trying to get the
- 31:18people with the most fans or followers.
- 31:24But Lucy is just a great story.
- 31:25And what a way to capitalize
- 31:27right off of that.
- 31:35Just say, Scott, I love Lucy.
- 31:36All she needs is a boyfriend named Ricky.
- 31:37Ricky.
- 31:42No, she's just a swimming background.
- 31:45You know how I am with that stuff.
- 31:48Yeah.
- 31:49We hit it off.
- 31:50And she also has a degree in
- 31:52sports psychology,
- 31:54which was fascinating to me.
- 31:56We dove deep into the psyche
- 31:58of athletes and, and all that stuff.
- 32:01And it was just a great interview.
- 32:02Yeah.
- 32:03She seems very, very grounded.
- 32:07Yeah.
- 32:10Speaking of swimming,
- 32:12Yes, sir.
- 32:12As you know, my background is in swimming.
- 32:14My mom and I went to the US
- 32:16Olympic trials this year for swimming.
- 32:19And there I found this
- 32:21podcast called Unfiltered Water.
- 32:24And it is Missy Franklin and Katie Hoff,
- 32:29who are two former Olympic swimmers.
- 32:31And they started a podcast
- 32:34where they were
- 32:34interviewing people around
- 32:35the swimming space.
- 32:36And I felt so disconnected at the trials.
- 32:40I wanted to get back into like,
- 32:42Who are the big swimmers?
- 32:44So it's a podcast I watch
- 32:46when I need to decompress
- 32:48from the CrossFit stuff.
- 32:51And turn on last week's episode.
- 32:54And who's on?
- 32:55Brooke Wells.
- 32:57Shut up.
- 32:59Nope.
- 33:00Nope.
- 33:00On a swimming podcast.
- 33:02On a swimming podcast.
- 33:04Because.
- 33:06So this podcast is not that old.
- 33:08It's only hit like one year mark.
- 33:11And it they decided they
- 33:14wanted to go outside the
- 33:15swimming space to find more
- 33:17inspirational stories and
- 33:20and Katie Hoff CrossFit.
- 33:23Oh, OK.
- 33:26And her husband does as well.
- 33:28And they watch the games and
- 33:31they live in Nashville.
- 33:33So the connection was there
- 33:35and they actually had her
- 33:36in studio for an interview,
- 33:40which was really cool.
- 33:42The other thing that is,
- 33:44I've never been a big Brooke Wells fan.
- 33:46I will admit it,
- 33:47but she doesn't do a lot of media.
- 33:49So to get her on a full long
- 33:53form podcast was very unique.
- 33:58And I will say she did about
- 33:59an eighty percent job.
- 34:01Good job of explaining what
- 34:03CrossFit is and why it's a
- 34:06great methodology.
- 34:08Because she's talking to
- 34:09swimmers about how they're
- 34:12specialists within swimming.
- 34:14Like like one was a
- 34:16breaststroke or one was a
- 34:17backstroke or one was a distance.
- 34:20Right.
- 34:21And they and they train that
- 34:23one stroke or that one
- 34:24event to go to the Olympics all the time.
- 34:28And Brooke was talking about
- 34:30that she could never
- 34:30survive a training like that.
- 34:32She needs variety.
- 34:34She needs the unknown and the unknowable.
- 34:35And she explained what the
- 34:36unknown and unknowable were
- 34:38and why like every day you
- 34:40come into the class,
- 34:41it's a little bit different.
- 34:44And that the games tries to
- 34:45test a little bit of everything.
- 34:47And every year they have no
- 34:49idea what they're up for.
- 34:50And they were comparing it to me to like,
- 34:53you mean we could show up
- 34:53at the Olympics and they're like, well,
- 34:55you're competing in the
- 34:56hundred breaststroke this year.
- 34:57Right.
- 34:58Right.
- 35:02And she's like, that's pretty much it.
- 35:03And they're like, oh my gosh,
- 35:05that would kill me.
- 35:07Because they are so
- 35:08specialized in what they do.
- 35:10It was a really cool yin and
- 35:12yang of the two sports and
- 35:16they talk about all that.
- 35:17The one thing that I did not
- 35:21care for in the interview
- 35:22was they go into the Lazar death.
- 35:25Oh, really?
- 35:29She did fine explaining it.
- 35:31It was that
- 35:34non-factual stuff for being
- 35:36brought up and nobody to
- 35:38stop that from happening um
- 35:43yeah um like they said it
- 35:46was in fort worth and it
- 35:47was hot that day and katie
- 35:50is like oh fort worth is
- 35:51hot it's like a hundred and
- 35:52ten when I'm there and like
- 35:54I know that would be really
- 35:55hot to swim in it wasn't a
- 35:56hundred and ten that day right right like
- 36:02but and maybe I'm just
- 36:04sensitive and protective of
- 36:05this thing that I love um
- 36:10but other than that like
- 36:11for not being a brooke
- 36:12wells fan I really got
- 36:13sucked into this okay and I
- 36:15really like the contrast
- 36:17between the two and it was
- 36:19it was not like tommy or sean or
- 36:25Coffee Pods and Wads or Siobhan.
- 36:27It was a different voice
- 36:29interviewing a CrossFitter,
- 36:30which was really,
- 36:32really interesting and fascinating to me.
- 36:34Yeah, that is neat.
- 36:35I like that.
- 36:38Every time you bring up Brookwells,
- 36:39I think about my elbow, just so you know.
- 36:42They talk about that.
- 36:44Yeah.
- 36:45They talk about leading up
- 36:47to that and everything.
- 36:48I got my MRI last night.
- 36:50They had a cancellation.
- 36:51So I went and got my MRI on
- 36:52my elbow last night.
- 36:54So hopefully by next week,
- 36:55I'll know a little bit
- 36:56about what's going on.
- 36:57Nice.
- 37:00Excited.
- 37:02The one thing I did learn is
- 37:03her and Sydney wanted to do,
- 37:05their dad was a personal
- 37:06trainer and they wanted to go to the gym.
- 37:08So they wanted a membership
- 37:09to the gym and their dad was like, no,
- 37:12I know what kids do at the gym.
- 37:13They just run around.
- 37:14They don't do anything organized.
- 37:16And the only thing he would
- 37:17pay for was a CrossFit gym
- 37:20because he knew they would
- 37:21come in and have to do
- 37:21their work in an hour.
- 37:23I didn't have to leave.
- 37:25And that's how she started CrossFit.
- 37:27It was because her dad
- 37:29didn't want her just
- 37:30running around a gym in the off season.
- 37:34Do you know what I thought
- 37:35you were going to say?
- 37:36I thought you were going to
- 37:37say her dad couldn't afford it.
- 37:38So he got one membership and
- 37:39they switched off.
- 37:41They went on alternate days
- 37:43because they're twins.
- 37:45That was where my head went immediately.
- 37:48yeah and she talks a lot
- 37:49about sydney and that one
- 37:51of the reasons that she
- 37:52left proven was because
- 37:54they were killing each
- 37:55other every time they were
- 37:57in the gym together they
- 37:58were going a hundred
- 38:00percent to beat the other
- 38:02and it just wasn't healthy
- 38:03for them and as much as hey
- 38:08we shouldn't do that today
- 38:09they still they could not
- 38:11turn it off is she what is
- 38:13she doing now is she with jr
- 38:18I don't know.
- 38:19She's not HWPO anymore, right?
- 38:21Or was she ever?
- 38:23I think she is.
- 38:24Oh, she is.
- 38:25Okay.
- 38:26But she also is with JR.
- 38:28Right.
- 38:28Cause didn't she launch that
- 38:29clothing brand or something?
- 38:30Isn't she part of that?
- 38:33Yeah, the shoe company.
- 38:34The shoe thing, yeah.
- 38:37Yeah.
- 38:39I barely paid attention to that.
- 38:40Those usually come and go so fast.
- 38:43Do you remember way back in
- 38:44the day when Camille came
- 38:46out with her line after
- 38:47winning the games and it
- 38:49lasted six months?
- 38:51I have a pair of lilac
- 38:53Camille LeBlanc Baznay CLB booty shorts.
- 38:57Yes.
- 39:00I was, you, you don't understand.
- 39:03Like when I started CrossFit in,
- 39:05I consumed everything, everything.
- 39:08There were, there were grid races,
- 39:11like in my, like near my hometown,
- 39:13I went to grid races.
- 39:14I was a griddler.
- 39:15Do you know what a griddler is?
- 39:16It's a, one of the barbell handlers.
- 39:19I did a griddler.
- 39:20I was griddler for some kind
- 39:21of combine in like outside of DC.
- 39:24I bought the,
- 39:25you remember the jump ropes
- 39:27that where you could clip on the,
- 39:29Like the handles would pull
- 39:31out and you'd be able to
- 39:32clip your wire on.
- 39:33I think they're the old, like RPM things.
- 39:37I have, I found handles on it.
- 39:39The handle says bad
- 39:40motherfucker on my handles of my,
- 39:42of my jump rope that I bought.
- 39:45Twelve, thirteen years ago,
- 39:47I was one of the first
- 39:47people to own a wolf.
- 39:49Soon as we came out, I got a wolf.
- 39:50I'm like,
- 39:51like the first fifty people I
- 39:53bought so much stuff, everything.
- 39:58I'm with you.
- 39:59Remember Matt O'Keefe's and
- 40:02Matt Frazier's Redline apparel company?
- 40:05I had a Redline t-shirt.
- 40:08All the things.
- 40:12Even those, yes, thank you.
- 40:13Even those barbell jeans or
- 40:15whatever they were that are
- 40:16no longer in business that
- 40:18I still never got my money back for.
- 40:20I still have those jeans.
- 40:22Well,
- 40:23I had at least six Rich Froning
- 40:24lookalike outfits.
- 40:26You're talking about the headband?
- 40:29The headband, the sunglasses,
- 40:33the rope necklace, the black shirt.
- 40:38I had the blacked out rogue
- 40:39shirt with the Bible verse down the side.
- 40:48And then the rogue shorts,
- 40:49the boarded shorts, the rogue ones.
- 40:52I had a pair of the silkies.
- 40:54I had a pair of silkies.
- 40:57You know what those are?
- 40:58The little robe.
- 40:59They're for dudes, but I had a pair.
- 41:06I don't know.
- 41:07Not puka shell.
- 41:08It was a braided rope.
- 41:10It was huge in Major League Baseball.
- 41:13And Rich had one.
- 41:15And then he went to just a
- 41:16single leather rope around
- 41:19his neck with no pukas, though.
- 41:24Yes, Corey, those.
- 41:25I had those.
- 41:28I wore those.
- 41:31Yep.
- 41:31And I was always on the
- 41:32search for the perfect pair
- 41:34of white booty shorts, a la Stacey Tovar,
- 41:37like constantly.
- 41:39And I would buy a pair and I
- 41:40would love them and I'd
- 41:40wear them once and they would like,
- 41:42I'd wash them and they'd turn gray.
- 41:44And it's like the hardest thing to keep,
- 41:47you know, Lycra, white Lycra white.
- 41:50I challenge anyone.
- 41:51I was always on the lookout
- 41:52for Stacey Tovar's booty shorts as well.
- 41:54I'm sure you were.
- 41:57With her in them.
- 41:58That was always the thing.
- 42:00I remember one time I
- 42:03actually got a pair of a
- 42:08Lululemon jog bra from Lauren Brooks.
- 42:11Remember Lauren Brooks from Florida?
- 42:14Talena Fortunato's friend.
- 42:15Yeah.
- 42:17I bought a pair from her.
- 42:18Made the snatch,
- 42:19went to one knee and
- 42:20brought it up off the
- 42:21ground and they still call it good.
- 42:24That was amazing.
- 42:27Yeah.
- 42:27Talena Fortunato actually
- 42:29gave me a dry needled my neck one time.
- 42:32I was down in Fort Myers,
- 42:33Florida for a baseball
- 42:34tournament with Braden and
- 42:35I went to see her and she
- 42:36was my practitioner for dry needling.
- 42:39Super nice lady.
- 42:41Her gym was super cool too.
- 42:42Talena's?
- 42:44Yeah.
- 42:45I saw her at Wadapalooza the
- 42:48year you and I went and she
- 42:51had a baby under each arm
- 42:53and nobody knew who she was.
- 42:55yeah I remember her gym had
- 42:59um just bars going from
- 43:01like wall to wall they were
- 43:02pull-up bars but they it
- 43:04was just like in the roof
- 43:05rafters they just had a bar
- 43:06and like you would just
- 43:07walk up to that and like
- 43:08that's where everyone would
- 43:09do their pull-ups like in
- 43:09the middle of the floor
- 43:11there wasn't there wasn't
- 43:11like a rig it was very odd
- 43:14uh every time you mentioned
- 43:15stacy tovar scott gets his
- 43:17wings that is true however
- 43:20in true cat fashion it's s-t-a-c-i-e
- 43:25Yes, it is Stacy.
- 43:29Did you see that?
- 43:30Speaking of misspelling people's names?
- 43:32Did you see Kelsey keel is retiring?
- 43:35I didn't she see she's retiring.
- 43:36I see she got engaged.
- 43:38Yes,
- 43:38she she had she posted a retirement
- 43:41post today.
- 43:41Like I'm not competing this year post.
- 43:45Yeah.
- 43:49I can never spell her first
- 43:50name right either.
- 43:51I always get it wrong.
- 43:54think she's k-e-l-s-i-e or
- 43:56post what's up story or
- 44:00post um it was a post um I
- 44:05think it was a post yeah
- 44:09this one you see it yeah
- 44:13she's adorable my
- 44:17competitive jersey has been
- 44:18hung up for now at least
- 44:21Last year was my all-in.
- 44:23This year I wanted to see if I could do it,
- 44:24moving to Baton Rouge,
- 44:26training with Coachella every day,
- 44:27putting everything I had into it,
- 44:29making sure I left no stone unturned.
- 44:32And guess what?
- 44:32I didn't make it.
- 44:34I was the fittest I'd ever
- 44:35been in my entire life.
- 44:37Okay, nice.
- 44:37Yeah, right.
- 44:50She's adorable.
- 44:52I think she's moving here if
- 44:54she has not already done so.
- 44:56Moving to Ohio?
- 44:59Columbus specifically.
- 45:01Oh, really?
- 45:02Yeah.
- 45:04Is her fiancé switching teams?
- 45:08Well, he only plays in the summer, right?
- 45:12And I think he plays in California.
- 45:15Yeah, he's on the Giants.
- 45:16Okay.
- 45:17And so, uh,
- 45:19but she worked out across the
- 45:20grand view last summer or
- 45:22spring or something early
- 45:25in the season last year.
- 45:27Um, so yeah.
- 45:31And then when I talked to
- 45:32Coachella at the masters,
- 45:34he said that he thinks
- 45:35she's moving back here permanently.
- 45:37Cool.
- 45:38Yeah.
- 45:39I really like her.
- 45:40She was a Philly girl, right?
- 45:42Yep.
- 45:43Go birds.
- 45:48yeah I are you still
- 45:51watching the the eagles or
- 45:53just heck yeah of course
- 45:56what do you mean am I still
- 45:57watching them here's the
- 46:01crazy part here's the crazy
- 46:03part we have a trip coming
- 46:04up to texas and we're going
- 46:07to be in texas during the
- 46:08super bowl well better than
- 46:12being in missouri
- 46:14but if the Eagles win and
- 46:16we're going to be in like the cowboy,
- 46:18cowboy country, you know,
- 46:20the Cowboys and the Eagles
- 46:21hate each other.
- 46:22So it'll be interesting.
- 46:25Are you going to,
- 46:26you're not going to Dallas though.
- 46:27You're going to San Antonio.
- 46:29Well,
- 46:29we're flying into Dallas and then
- 46:31we're driving all the way
- 46:32down to Corpus Christi and back.
- 46:33So.
- 46:34Okay.
- 46:34Nice.
- 46:34Yeah.
- 46:40Quick trip, but over that weekend, so.
- 46:46all right well last year
- 46:47last year we were in the
- 46:48mountains of utah for the
- 46:49super bowl so I haven't
- 46:50been like home for a super
- 46:52bowl in several years and
- 46:53the year before that I was
- 46:54in bed because I had
- 46:55coveted so next year we
- 46:59haven't been going much of
- 47:01anywhere with julie's knee
- 47:04but we're starting to get a
- 47:05little more mobile now went
- 47:07out to eat the other night
- 47:08it was nice good good good
- 47:12She's supposed to go from
- 47:13Walker to cane tomorrow.
- 47:17Cool.
- 47:19How's she feeling about that?
- 47:22I think she, she,
- 47:23so when she goes upstairs,
- 47:24we don't take the Walker upstairs.
- 47:26Uh, so she does cane upstairs anyway,
- 47:29but this,
- 47:29they want her to do bigger
- 47:30stretches on the cane.
- 47:34Um, so yeah, I think she's good with it.
- 47:37She's at a hundred and
- 47:38fifteen degrees of bend.
- 47:42which is better than the goal they wanted.
- 47:45They wanted her at one Oh five.
- 47:47She's not one to fifteen.
- 47:48Awesome.
- 47:49So yeah, good stuff.
- 47:53How many,
- 47:53how many more weeks before she
- 47:54goes back to work?
- 47:57So we are three and a half
- 48:01weeks and she gets, she's off six.
- 48:03So two and a half weeks to go.
- 48:07Cool.
- 48:08She's getting a little crazy.
- 48:10I would be too, but yeah, it's okay.
- 48:12She'll be,
- 48:13she'll be out and about soon enough.
- 48:16Yeah.
- 48:17I'm having a sleepover with
- 48:18Eliana tonight.
- 48:19She's going to be at the
- 48:20house and he'll get some by herself.
- 48:22So I get to hang out with
- 48:24her and Jojo and then Jojo
- 48:25is going to be with me for the weekend.
- 48:28Nice.
- 48:29You don't watch movies or what?
- 48:32Well,
- 48:32we're going to be at the gym most of
- 48:33the time, like tomorrow,
- 48:35tomorrow all day.
- 48:36Well,
- 48:37tomorrow morning got to take some
- 48:38things down and people are coming until
- 48:40noon and then tomorrow night
- 48:41my friend's having a party
- 48:43uh turn fifty so we're
- 48:44gonna go celebrate with him
- 48:45for a little bit saturday
- 48:47morning we're back at the
- 48:48gym and then hopefully if
- 48:49we get everything moved out
- 48:50by saturday morning then
- 48:52saturday and sunday we can
- 48:53do some fun stuff with the
- 48:54dogs yeah corey's uh
- 48:57ex-boyfriend who broke up
- 48:59with her four days before
- 49:00christmas uh apologized and
- 49:02wanted to get back together
- 49:04and corey said no good for her
- 49:08and she picks up the keys to
- 49:10her new apartment tomorrow
- 49:12okay so her cousins are
- 49:16coming down to help her
- 49:17move um is she gonna be is
- 49:21she in pittsburgh or she's
- 49:22sticking around where you
- 49:23guys are pittsburgh she's
- 49:24still she's still out there
- 49:26yeah okay her job's in
- 49:27pittsburgh so yep oh I
- 49:32wanted to mention really
- 49:33quick um I started we
- 49:36started a new show last night
- 49:38It's an old show from it's
- 49:40Apple TV show called severance.
- 49:43Have you seen it?
- 49:44I have not,
- 49:45but Corey just binged it and is
- 49:47trying to get us to watch it.
- 49:49So good.
- 49:53Super, super weird, but really,
- 49:55really good.
- 49:56I think we got through the
- 49:56first two episodes last
- 49:57night and I'm super excited about it.
- 49:59Like I cannot wait to watch the next one.
- 50:02We started the pit.
- 50:05Okay.
- 50:06which is Noah Wiley from the ODR show.
- 50:11He is in Pittsburgh in a
- 50:13hospital that is underground,
- 50:15which is very common in
- 50:16Pittsburgh because it's
- 50:17built into the mountains
- 50:19and they call it the hospital, the pit.
- 50:22And it appears we're like
- 50:23two and a half episodes in
- 50:24that the whole series is
- 50:26going to be one day of this
- 50:28like trauma ER and what
- 50:31they have within a day.
- 50:34It,
- 50:35the grittiest hospital show
- 50:37I've ever seen.
- 50:39And it is graphic.
- 50:40Like when they have to do an operation,
- 50:43it is all out there on the table.
- 50:46Yeah.
- 50:46We couldn't watch that.
- 50:47Mike doesn't,
- 50:47Mike doesn't like gory stuff.
- 50:49He would, he would have to close his eyes.
- 50:51I love that stuff.
- 50:52Yeah.
- 50:52Julie's like, uh,
- 50:54just tell me when it's over.
- 50:59Yeah.
- 50:59Yeah.
- 51:01She closes her eyes and then
- 51:03tell her when it's over.
- 51:05That's funny.
- 51:05Well, as soon as we're done Severance,
- 51:07maybe we'll check that one out,
- 51:07but I'm really enjoying this one.
- 51:09So I didn't realize.
- 51:12Severance.
- 51:17Yeah.
- 51:18Crazy.
- 51:18He's not in it or anything, but yeah,
- 51:20he wrote it.
- 51:22Yeah.
- 51:23They say it's not,
- 51:24not like what you would
- 51:25expect from Ben Stiller.
- 51:28No, I mean, I,
- 51:29I worry about the psyche of
- 51:31anyone that comes up with that story.
- 51:32Like you have to wonder like what,
- 51:34what are they on or what are
- 51:36they suffering from to come
- 51:37up with the storyline?
- 51:38Cause it's just weird, serious,
