- 0:45Steward or assigned District representative.
- 0:48Thank you. Welcome to episode 2.
- 0:52How are you guys doing tonight? Mom, I'm doing.
- 0:58Well, sat around all day watching football, so I can go
- 1:04to bed early and have at it tomorrow.
- 1:09I'm doing pretty well. Myself until the realization
- 1:13that I actually have to go back to work tomorrow sticking a
- 1:16little bit ago. I'm loving life.
- 1:21I I go in every day, I called confirmation and stress.
- 1:25And I laugh at him and they say, can you help one another route
- 1:28and then I just throw their rules back in her face and say
- 1:31no can do and and they do you not being very nice.
- 1:35I said, I never was yeah, you know, but we need to know about
- 1:39your constipation. I mean, you know folks, yeah,
- 1:45I'm not the one that made these rules.
- 1:46You are, you know, I have to live by him.
- 1:50I have to work by him and guess what?
- 1:53I'm by the book. Especially when the book Works
- 1:55in my favor yep, I was just telling somebody the other day
- 2:00I'm like, I know there. I know there are rules to their
- 2:05game. I know how to use their their
- 2:08brains than for their dream again, and they don't like that.
- 2:15And my situational knowledge is now he knowledge is power power,
- 2:19controls the money, and that's why the national board has been
- 2:23sitting there for years. Yeah, we just laughing at us as
- 2:26the crap. That's why I might get those
- 2:30hats made up thing. We the craft or pissed off.
- 2:35Once you start putting them on Facebook to sell, you know, my
- 2:39situation got even a little bit more interesting because this
- 2:43past Monday, our other RCA quit. So that leaves me myself and I
- 2:49luckily my office is not as big as your guys's.
- 2:52Thank goodness at this point, but that still leaves me
- 2:55covering all six routes in the aux route on a, nearly daily
- 2:58basis. Now you're you're the senior sub
- 3:032. I yes, I have been such a
- 3:05temper. I've been the senior substance
- 3:08September when the last one we have regular, but there is
- 3:12really yeah, really senior now, But that's beside the point.
- 3:42I mean you know it's pretty sad that I see more offices having
- 3:47problems and that offices that are well off.
- 3:50You know, I did, I do know of an office that is Just over 50
- 3:57miles away. She's our state chaplain.
- 4:01She's also secretary treasurer of our local county unit.
- 4:05Her office actually has a full complement of RCA's.
- 4:08Now, I am jealous. Yeah, because it's me myself and
- 4:14I and it's not like we have anybody.
- 4:16We can borrow the office just you know, 15 miles.
- 4:19South of us has no subs. The, there's nobody that we can
- 4:23even borrow to help out So I'm about ready to say.
- 4:28All right, we need to start training the CCAA over there and
- 4:32some of these rural routes because I'm getting pretty.
- 4:37Pretty desperate at the moment. He's been, he's been talking
- 4:48about, maybe switching over to the rural Sykes, I think he sees
- 4:52where the, where the hours are now, is on the rural side, and
- 4:56not so much City side. When you've got two full and
- 4:59one, auxiliary City route with two full-time carriers, a PT F,
- 5:03Ana CA so, Yeah, our newest come our new sub the pieces.
- 5:13I need to get hours. I says, don't worry, I says say
- 5:16goodbye to your family cuz you're not going to see him till
- 5:18after January 1st. Yeah.
- 5:20And he started laughing and Isis.
- 5:22What's so funny. He goes you're serious and I saw
- 5:27you had serious and it didn't work as big seven days for this
- 5:32in. September's we came back from
- 5:33the convention. I've been working nearly six
- 5:36days. As a week for most.
- 5:38Well, since probably April, when it was just myself in the other
- 5:41sub, after our one left eye, I do wish her safe travels.
- 5:46If she listens, they are moving across the country this weekend.
- 5:49So but you know and then he went regular why?
- 5:56We were well, the day I was coming home from convention.
- 5:59He officially went full-time and that bump me up and we know we
- 6:02had one other sub that hired on this summer and he's the one
- 6:05that just left. So, So yeah, it's you know, I'll
- 6:10have eight years in come in a couple weeks and this it's one
- 6:15of those Christmases. I was like, this is payback from
- 6:19last year when my daughter came down with covid at Thanksgiving
- 6:22time and they may quarantine for 14 days.
- 6:25So I got to sit at home. During the beginning Christmas
- 6:29over time. So I kind of guess this is
- 6:30payback and then the other one is careful what you wish for.
- 6:33Because when you have that one particular person who really is
- 6:38not a team player and can't hold their own and you're still
- 6:41having to clean up after him. And your think I might as well
- 6:43just do this job myself. Well, now I am so it's my
- 6:47situation. Yeah, we have a nice route where
- 6:53it is. Young lady has some family
- 6:56issues has failed to Holly AP. She's got a letter warning for
- 7:01attendance, already. She got a letter of warning for
- 7:04screaming at the postmaster on the floor.
- 7:07And then she took Wednesday off because Thursday's are dropped
- 7:10day and then turned around came in Friday.
- 7:14Took out half the, you took all the mail brought half of it back
- 7:18and then called out Saturday and I'm sitting there going well,
- 7:21and I have to defend her You know, what do I say?
- 7:26Yeah, she's a lazy inconsiderate.
- 7:29Bitch. I mean what do you want me to
- 7:30say? I mean, there's not much I can
- 7:34do get out. Oh, she has family issues.
- 7:37You have been telling her for a month and a half to get a hold
- 7:40of EAP, you know, get get something on paper showing that
- 7:43you're having issues. And, you know, it's like having
- 7:46FMLA but, you know, for, you know, emotional or family issues
- 7:51at least get some documentation down.
- 7:53So I can fight for you. Oh yeah, exactly.
- 7:57I tell, you know, I tell my co-workers all the time I can't
- 8:00do this for you. If you want something to change
- 8:04I need stuff II. Need something in black and
- 8:07white. I need proof in order to back it
- 8:09up. Or like white, my non-union
- 8:14member going, you know, I think I'm owed hours for being over
- 8:192080. Ice is really as we want, you
- 8:21get the form so you can track the hours.
- 8:23He says, how do you get that? I see.
- 8:24All new Union web page Bill. I'm not a union member.
- 8:28I said sucks, doesn't it? Of course, I gave it to him but
- 8:35you know, I made him. Wait a couple days.
- 8:41Because I'm like that what the benefits of membership or not
- 8:50pay your dues fine, you know? What is I get it?
- 8:56I really do. You know, I you know, We're like
- 9:03a welfare state. Yeah, we have to support
- 9:05everybody else and I'm tired of it.
- 9:14Yeah, there's actually there's actually a laborer for labor
- 9:18ruling saying that we have to provide information to the
- 9:20members who are represented by us because they have to live
- 9:24under the same terms of the contract.
- 9:25That's negotiated form. And I'm like, oh hell no, it's
- 9:33not really available for them to get.
- 9:36That's a shame that they can't get it.
- 9:41But I mean, you know what, dude, like I said, it's like being in
- 9:45a welfare state. You're paying for people not
- 9:47working, you know, same thing here.
- 9:49We're you know, providing information for the people who
- 9:52don't, you know, our members. How can they figure that they're
- 9:57in 2080 issues of the year just started over and out for last
- 10:02year? Oh well you know.
- 10:04Well okay as I say they try to give you a prize it's too.
- 10:09But how good is that after a couple weeks you know?
- 10:13They've already tried that in another office and I got a phone
- 10:16call about it and I said, you know that's I just laugh at them
- 10:21and I can't do that but I can't. You laugh at them?
- 10:26Two weeks ago. I saw someone posted on Facebook
- 10:29that they were both Masters supervisor.
- 10:33Someone said that, let them know that they were. 20 and having
- 10:392080 issues of Mike. How?
- 10:43Yeah. How could you have already?
- 10:48You know, you got to wait until at least.
- 10:51I would say February before you can start getting a true
- 10:55representation of what your hours are, you know, projected
- 10:59hours. And even then that still early
- 11:02No. Yeah I think it's quite a
- 11:03better. Well you know it true that the
- 11:06problems it is that you know these people were getting nudge
- 11:09from both and the people above have no idea what they're
- 11:12talking about. So, you know, they're Lemmings.
- 11:15They're being told what to do and they're doing it without
- 11:18even understanding why? I mean, it did, you know, I got
- 11:22for supervisors have no idea what our contract is.
- 11:27Let's see how they turn around steak.
- 11:29They tell you. Well, I was told from above who,
- 11:34The postmaster, I got a postmaster.
- 11:35Who told you this? Well I got it from District who
- 11:38you got it from District? Yeah.
- 11:40Yeah. To get it in writing or an email
- 11:42or something like that. Let I want to know who Well, I
- 11:46can't tell you and we have every right to put a request in for a
- 11:51copy of that email. And exactly.
- 11:54It's like my postmaster trying to pull out the contract, the
- 11:57other day. And she's like right here and I
- 11:59said, no, that's not the new updated one because it hasn't
- 12:02been printed and bound and released to us yet.
- 12:05I said, I have my bound to copy from my printed copy from the
- 12:08union, which I let my supervisor broke because she wanted
- 12:11something to read to learn and educate herself and I let her
- 12:14know. I did want it back but I said
- 12:17here, I have a copy right here. Let me to explain to you what it
- 12:20says. But don't try to tell me you're
- 12:24pulling out an expired contract. And this is what it says when we
- 12:27have a new and updated one, especially for that section of
- 12:30leave that you're wanting to discuss with.
- 12:35I like the part where they sit there and say, well, this is
- 12:40what it means. No, that's not what it means.
- 12:42It's what it says, it's not what you think it means.
- 12:46Yeah, it says what? It says, it's in black and
- 12:48white. There's no, you, no, you no
- 12:51ambiguity. In regards to what it's Police
- 12:53say don't interpret it is that's in English already.
- 12:57Don't make up with a new meaning for the words.
- 13:00So were they supposed to come up with the our cam?
- 13:04And that has yet to be really? Yeah, I have yet to receive any.
- 13:10We've been our cam Yeah, I saw something on that in the wrecks
- 13:16thing for it, the other day, and it's like, wow, they're still
- 13:19working on it. But, you know, yet have that
- 13:27done before the wreck stuff studies done.
- 13:29All right, want to bet on it. I'll put I'll put 100 on there.
- 13:39Yeah, those are long shot. Very long shot.
- 13:48Yeah, exactly. It's like yeah you were talking
- 13:54about discussing the Christmas over time and second trips and
- 13:58the first thing you know, somebody said to me was, well,
- 14:01how do we get paid for second trips during Christmas ever
- 14:04time? I said by the hour, And they
- 14:09said well how do you record it on your 4240?
- 14:14Well, how do I know I'm getting paid for it?
- 14:16Well photocopy, your timesheet you dumbass are, you know, I'd
- 14:21the first thing. I first thing I told this new
- 14:23kid on Saturday morning. I I called him up Friday night
- 14:26at his house and told him you be there Saturday morning, first
- 14:29thing Saturday morning, I told him you make sure that you keep
- 14:32track of every hour. You get that that you were your
- 14:37green card when you sign the 4240.
- 14:40I said every day right at get into the habit of writing it
- 14:43down every day. I says because invariably it
- 14:46will disappear one day and your hours will be short.
- 14:52I said, so let's prevent it before it even starts.
- 14:56All right, and that's going to bring us to the Hot Topic
- 14:58tonight of Christmas over time. Since the start of this next,
- 15:03this coming Saturday, December third ending on the 23rd
- 15:08Christmas over time. So, what does that mean?
- 15:12Well for RCA is like myself, it's business as usual unless
- 15:18you're covering an ox route. You're not going to get paid the
- 15:21evaluation. You're going to get paid
- 15:24straight time for running the Oxford.
- 15:26Other than that for RCA's, it's business.
- 15:28As usual for the most part for regulars.
- 15:33This is where things change bill.
- 15:34I'll let you explain the Christmas over time for
- 15:37regulars. Christmas over time.
- 15:41You get paid for every hour that you work period.
- 15:46The problem is from the beginning of the guaranteed
- 15:50period in October. What was that October seventh or
- 15:53ninth? Thanks. 8j.
- 15:56I was closed until December 2nd. All the hours that you have
- 16:03worked is put into a formula. Based on your routes evaluation.
- 16:09So, when they put this formula together, they come up with a
- 16:13number that isn't actually time-and-a-half folks.
- 16:17You are getting paid a percentage based on the amount
- 16:20of hours you went over your evaluation.
- 16:23It's a confusing for Mia and it's even harder to find but
- 16:28that's how you pay. I remember the first time it
- 16:31happened to me and I question why I'm not getting time and a
- 16:34half but it was easy to take my hourly rate and multiply it
- 16:38times 1.5 and was coming out short of that amount.
- 16:42That's the catch another catch that we have in our contract
- 16:47that allows them to adjust our overtime rate based on the hours
- 16:51from the beginning of the of the over.
- 16:53I've already guarantee period on October 8.
- 16:58So you know, if you haven't maintained your hours and most
- 17:01of us haven't don't look for time-and-a-half, look for, like,
- 17:06time in the quarter because that's what's closer to be like,
- 17:11Otherwise, you're going to get paid overtime for every hour at
- 17:15your at your rate that you've earned all the way up to the
- 17:19cember 23rd. And then on December 24th, you
- 17:24go back to the normal system. If you're on the oh you dropped
- 17:29a, you'll be getting paid for the overtime and on your routes
- 17:32evaluation and that's it. If you're if you're at your
- 17:36regular, drop down. If your regular work day, jay
- 17:38day or whatever, however, some people call it.
- 17:41You're going to be paid at, you're standing evaluation.
- 17:47And yeah the vicar the kicker about is that if you're on your,
- 17:51if you're working your drop date, you're getting paid for
- 17:54you, over overtime on your valuation and that's it.
- 17:58Not for any hours over and above that.
- 18:00Yeah, it does. If you like a regular as a
- 18:09regular only, now now if you're an RCA you still get paid second
- 18:14trips separately. However, if you are a regular,
- 18:20you do not get paid, additionally for second trips.
- 18:23It's computed into your your hours for the week.
- 18:29The only thing additional you would get is if you are a POV
- 18:32wrote, you would get that additional EMA for those.
- 18:35I could trip miles. Okay.
- 18:38Think over 40 miles? Yes.
- 18:41Because you're automatically paid a minimum of 48 mph.
- 18:45Ma. Yeah.
- 18:46If your daily total miles go over 40.
- 18:47Yes. I we are one POV routes 93
- 18:50Miles. Most of the POV routes I've ever
- 18:53ran have been you know an excess of 50 plus miles so I haven't
- 18:57really dealt with a POV wrote under 40 miles, other than my Ox
- 19:01ropes, right? well, you got to keep in mind
- 19:06where I'm at is a lot more urban and most of the routes are
- 19:13Averaging, 25 miles. Somewhere between 20 and 30 on
- 19:20average. For the route miles. you know,
- 19:26there's a few that are less than that and there's a few that are
- 19:29more than that, but So, there are some that are, you know,
- 19:34that are less. Yeah, that pretty much sums up
- 19:46the Christmas over time period. I know we had a couple
- 19:50questions. What constitutes, as a second
- 19:54trap, this came in from a friend of ours fact, I think I ended up
- 20:01on a phone call with him and one of our hosts here, you know,
- 20:08basically what's constituting as a second trip.
- 20:12That's actually outlined in the F21.
- 20:17Am I correct bill? Yeah.
- 20:21You're in there. You got it.
- 20:23Yeah, which I have and I was going to pull it up and I didn't
- 20:27right away. I have 21, you know, I used to
- 20:34have this one right on the homepage of my phone.
- 20:38If that counts is how sad I am is.
- 20:41It's not right there anymore yet.
- 20:43I have the Matrix guideline the P 603 the contract.
- 20:50Yeah and a few other things right there.
- 20:54I think I even have a copy of the M38 on a home screen too.
- 20:59But my F21 basically your second trip, I have 21 time and
- 21:04attendance right here, second trips.
- 21:09And additional trip is when management authorizes requires a
- 21:12carrier to make deliveries, after returning from their
- 21:15standard Street duties. This is a, then it tells you a
- 21:18three-digit field in the role certificates.
- 21:20When they're fill-in stuff out, the carrier's, regular and leave
- 21:26Replacements will be compensated at 2 minutes per mile for each
- 21:29mile. I'll involved in the additional
- 21:31trips. The compensation factor for
- 21:33leave Replacements is valid when a leave Replacements compensated
- 21:36based on the evaluation of the regular or auxiliary route
- 21:39served and when actual work hours do not exceed 40 hours per
- 21:43week so that is correct RCA's if your time goes over 40 hours per
- 21:47week and you have a second trip in there, you're going to get
- 21:50paid the straight time. Carriers authorized.
- 21:54Complete second trip, carriers, required to travel 10 miles to
- 21:57make an eight-minute, slow the vehicle, the regulars, 38 miles
- 22:00per day. That's just go.
- 22:02That's just given the computation basically.
- 22:05It's anything that They require you to go out for whether it's
- 22:11packages. It couldn't fit the first time
- 22:14out or it's Miss Thrones or stuff that came in late that
- 22:18they're required to get out or stuff that doesn't get taken out
- 22:21when it was supposed to buy auxiliary systems and you come
- 22:25back and there's a gurney, a package of sitting there.
- 22:27Yes, that will be a second trip. Well, sounds like the carriers
- 22:34are getting screwed over again. Yes.
- 22:38Let's, let's have management come up and say, please leave
- 22:41this hour, two hours, whatever it was to get you back.
- 22:47And I'll take that out yet, then they turn around and give it to
- 22:50a CCA, to take out and you come back from running your route.
- 22:55And there's a whole Gurney of packages that didn't get taken
- 22:58out for that section. Yeah, that was the scenario that
- 23:04was being questioned. Where they come up with the one
- 23:11that, well, look, you can't get take these out and deliver them.
- 23:15So just take them off the property and scan them as access
- 23:19denied and you sit there and say request tonight.
- 23:22I'm not falsifying the data. They have a fit over that one.
- 23:29They want, they want it, they want to fall survive and they
- 23:31can falsify, ya know, we we won't ours will not do packets.
- 23:43You know the packets got it was a sleeper in a case and it was
- 23:52going on 7:00 and she's like, I'll take it out and she took it
- 23:56out to Over it instead of just scan it, you know, return to
- 23:59validate address or return to post office for address or
- 24:02whatever. Just stop the clock no access
- 24:05now. No, it went out.
- 24:09That return return for address. Verification does not stop the
- 24:13clock. Did I like I like I like the one
- 24:20where they turn around and they have the Integrity scan and I've
- 24:24got I've got cop, I've got two copies of those where they were
- 24:28received after 6 p.m. you know, on different days.
- 24:33And then I got copies of the dispatch log from the from the
- 24:36dock showing, there was no truck to there at that time.
- 24:43Now he's yeah, we when they want to talk Integrity, scan them and
- 24:47say what Integrity you have none. that is the funniest thing
- 24:55when I heard that the first time I heard Integrity, scan Isis,
- 24:59what they go out and buy some so But it is what your guys's ideas
- 25:16of ways. And I know our biggest, I think
- 25:19our biggest issue was retaining RCA's anymore or even hiring
- 25:23them. Number one is pay and
- 25:26management. Do you agree with me on that?
- 25:34I doubt this I have to say, Retaining.
- 25:39The RCA's is difficult enough. But the problem of retaining
- 25:44them is linked to the piss poor management that we have.
- 25:48Yes, I think that is the biggest one in my, in my experience,
- 25:57especially with the amount of RCA's.
- 25:59I've seen go through my office in the last couple years, I
- 26:03guess, when I transferred in, I already had three and a half
- 26:07almost four years under my belt, when I transferred into this
- 26:10office. So, you know, and I'd already
- 26:14dealt with a couple different managers.
- 26:17So different as well. So I had that run-in for me, but
- 26:25when you get somebody new in off the streets and I'm not, you
- 26:28know, not necessarily even the young kids.
- 26:30I mean, we've had the last three people that we had hired on and
- 26:36the last three that resigned were all in the mid 40s to Two.
- 26:48I'm going to say they're older ones being around 60, retired,
- 26:52school teacher. I he worked one day and brought
- 26:56his resignation in the next day, mainly because of the way
- 26:58management. Talk to him.
- 27:02The other, you know, the other one is like, I just don't think
- 27:06this job is for me, which I get this job is not for everybody.
- 27:10Well, I completely and this is, this is not somebody who, who
- 27:17didn't work hard for a living. I, he was a hard worker and me
- 27:21and the reggae music remember, this is the one you were saying.
- 27:24It was doing really good, you know, he had great potential.
- 27:29I mean he Not afraid of hard work, but I think a lot of it
- 27:33not necessarily the management end of it, but I think a lot of
- 27:36it was the multitasking while you're trying to drive down the
- 27:39road, like the scanner, I know aggravated him so much, of
- 27:45course, they aggravate us to but you know, when you're trying to
- 27:48go to scan something and it's not scan in or it's wanting to
- 27:52escape out and asking if you want to log off, you know,
- 27:55changing screens on you, that was really kind of aggravating
- 27:59him a bit. I see those things and then the
- 28:05other one is this. Couldn't handle heavy days.
- 28:10Never found his Groove again. Just I don't think he's the type
- 28:15of person. It was cut out for this job.
- 28:20Yeah, we at even I'll give the offer of some more training and
- 28:25you know, he he didn't want it so but you know I it's becoming
- 28:32a crisis across the country and we all know this, we all, you
- 28:35know, all of our offices of everybody on here is we're
- 28:39suffering in one way or another, and it's due to lack of relief
- 28:43carriers. I think part of it also is the
- 28:48length of time for onboarding. Oh, definitely.
- 28:52They they, they need to restructure the hiring process
- 28:56to streamline it a lot after they need to bring it back to
- 29:01get rid of this fast track hiring, Fast, Track hiring is
- 29:05not fast track. Hiring by any means bring it
- 29:08back down to the individual property level.
- 29:11Or the individual office level. Your vocals are bad, very bad.
- 29:23You're right, this guy. Andrew our.
- 29:25We just brought on Saturday. I first met him on September
- 29:2914th. And he just got through his
- 29:32training last week and, you know, started working as of
- 29:35Saturday, two months, it took over two months to hire
- 29:39somebody. Yep.
- 29:42That makes no sense for a long time.
- 29:53I know what my State Convention they were talking about.
- 30:00That there was a new process, they were looking into that.
- 30:03It was actually at legal at that point to see if they could
- 30:07potentially which that system would. make it a lot faster
- 30:13onboarding people from the time that they apply and are deemed a
- 30:20valid candidate Well, they streamlined our system in PA is
- 30:29the Delaware PA 2's District, because you're not doing drug
- 30:33screening anymore. It still took two months to hire
- 30:36somebody but they're not doing the drug screening anymore.
- 30:40They're only, that's why we got this pothead, they're only doing
- 30:44the drug testing. I know in my district.
- 30:48For carriers, the ones that are driving Vehicles clerks aren't
- 30:51doing it. That's and they weren't doing
- 30:54well, but they just brought back the drug testing for the
- 30:59carriers. well, I know for awhile, they weren't doing
- 31:03background checks, for new hires, Oh, that I know they're
- 31:08doing all they hired me that proves it.
- 31:10Yeah. So I know they're doing the
- 31:14background checks because we had one that got his offer
- 31:17rescinded, after his background check came back.
- 31:28Wonder how bad was it? I don't know the details, but
- 31:35let's just say I'm not surprised.
- 31:38I'm just I just like I've been saying for a while, I wish they
- 31:41would take down the big banner outside her office.
- 31:44It says Heroes work here and just replace it with a we're
- 31:47hiring sign. Well, you know it's funny
- 31:54because we never had a full complement for the last four
- 31:58years as far as Subs are concerned.
- 32:01But we had a core group of 55 stubs.
- 32:04That could handle any situation, they could take take three
- 32:08routes. Split it up, take care of it
- 32:10address every situation on their own without management.
- 32:14And what they don't realize is that we don't need management,
- 32:18they meet us for. Yeah, day in and day out, we can
- 32:22do our jobs and get them done without management.
- 32:25They can't do jack shit without us.
- 32:27But when I when I got this kid and you Egan is job back for,
- 32:32you know, after an EP for sexual harassment, when the ADR settled
- 32:37for his job with no back pay. He walked away, you know, or
- 32:43even already had a job somewhere else and said, I'll stay there.
- 32:46I'm not putting up with the post office, you know, a month and a
- 32:49half later. One of our senior Subs, turn
- 32:51around and left us to work. At the prison, it was better
- 32:54working at the prison than it was at the post office.
- 32:57And then, you know, it one day, kid came back and that you had a
- 33:01half a parcel to said, you got to take these out.
- 33:04He says, no. I don't like quick.
- 33:06I mean, you know, the the whole atmosphere at work just adds To
- 33:11the whole situation where these people say, it's not worth it.
- 33:15You've got regular Courier well walking off the job because it's
- 33:19just not worth it anymore. Yeah.
- 33:23I think I can from the time I was hired up until probably
- 33:30About four years or so ago, we've always had 65 to 75
- 33:35percent compliment. Subs, you know, Subs to reggae,
- 33:40you know, to full two routes. Now.
- 33:47If we have 25 to 30 percent of, I'll be shocked. you know, I
- 33:53don't know how many RCA's we actually have in the city, but
- 34:00it's definitely not an up, we have Christ.
- 34:03We have. What out of 200 and something
- 34:06routes. Will Formula office only less
- 34:11than 80 of them are allowed to have Saturday off.
- 34:17We have a full opposite as not allowed to have any day off, you
- 34:22know, it's just not small town but you know you know Josh
- 34:27you're in Charlotte North Carolina.
- 34:30I mean that's a huge that's not like the small town issues like
- 34:34I have in my little town of right.
- 34:36You know. My tiny little town.
- 34:41It's not, you know, Mike's and a bigger city bills, not in a
- 34:45small town either, so it's not. It's spread amongst all
- 34:49demographics. Yeah, right.
- 34:55Yeah, I was just looking at the numbers.
- 34:57I mean, when I, when I transferred to this office, the
- 35:00office I work at now, we always see up until recently, we always
- 35:05seem to be around about 50%. Like, when I got there, we had
- 35:1042 routes and 21 RCA's Right now, we're up to 50 routes and
- 35:18we have 14 RCA. So we're down to about 28 about
- 35:2128%, less than 30% coverage, and they just went through.
- 35:26We just went to another round of carriers losing Saturday, hot
- 35:31losing their Saturday, K days because we don't have enough or
- 35:36leave Replacements to cover them.
- 35:40Right now we're down to I think we're down to like mint, just
- 35:43nine people who can have Saturday off.
- 35:47Something like that. Yeah, we had 18 routes and
- 35:51nobody's getting off. Well we're not even talking
- 35:55about the being able to get all four.
- 35:57Just saying Yo, what York a relief?
- 36:01Drop day is Because no one's they've had up for almost a
- 36:08year. Now on are Swinging Doors out
- 36:10today are two. Other vehicles are Okay, you
- 36:15know, all carriers are mandated to work this includes rural on
- 36:18your or five and are our three days.
- 36:23They're not even given us our threes, they're just paying our
- 36:26finds right off the bat. Yeah, you know.
- 36:42Next few weeks being that we have one RCA now who also has
- 36:47the whole are. You know, also has the ox route
- 36:49is, why can't we have? We have to To Monday, K days to
- 36:56Saturday, K days. And then we have our Jays and R1
- 37:02catterick Saturday. K day.
- 37:03She gets hers. and, the Monday's now are going to have to rotate,
- 37:10but You know why can't wait for the next few weeks?
- 37:15Have all hands on deck on Mondays so I could run my Ox
- 37:19route and then I can also run Exhilarate assistance on Mondays
- 37:23to help out because our office is not allowing us to come in on
- 37:27Sundays to run Parcels. God help me tomorrow morning
- 37:31because I'm running two routes. you know, is it that, you know,
- 37:38it's at the point now, where They can't redo the formula
- 37:46because that would put us to where there's would be more. for
- 37:54non Saturday, relief days on any one particular day of the week,
- 37:59then Saturday, which is not contractual
- 38:12well, all I know is that we can't redo the formula because
- 38:16the fact that Jim is nobody to put it down, Yeah, they're
- 38:22paying us, they're paying us. The are fives because they can't
- 38:26give us the damn, you know, X day during the over time, very
- 38:29well, the Christmas tree, because folks, guess what?
- 38:32There's nobody there, right? So they're just paying us the
- 38:37money. I mean, it's such a sad
- 38:41situation and I don't see, like I said, it took two months from
- 38:45this guy to get hired and are you kidding me?
- 38:48I would have loved to have him a month ago.
- 38:51Well, here's You know the here's my feet on this shit.
- 38:54Yeah and here's my scenario to I mean, it's not even just getting
- 38:58funny, you know, people to apply and get hired on its retaining
- 39:02them. And, you know, I, I'm looking at
- 39:05going regularly at the end of next summer, what's going to
- 39:09happen? Then if they, we don't get
- 39:11anybody in the door to stay. Well, with this new, this new
- 39:16guy, they I said, I told him. I said, yeah, you can use them,
- 39:19run Parcels Isis but he's not getting on any other route and I
- 39:23says because if he does I'll tell him the walk and I said,
- 39:27I'll walk out with him. I said I'm tired of this.
- 39:29I said you know this shit is why we have nobody says you keep
- 39:33bouncing around. You don't let him get in
- 39:35familiar with the scanners with the procedures and everything
- 39:38else that we do here, you just want to chill them up.
- 39:41Like they're damn dog meat and I says, you know, And you can't
- 39:44keep doing that. Yeah, this is why we don't have
- 39:47but, you know, 1 PT, f 1 sub right now and the subs, got the
- 39:51whole two days experience under his belt.
- 39:54And in the city carriers, they had 11 guys, retired this year
- 39:57early just to get out of the fucking office and now you
- 40:01laying down 22 routes per day. How many say I got City cares?
- 40:08I got City carriers walking by going.
- 40:10Hey Bill. You got to get mailed today.
- 40:11Oh, that's nice. How many City care?
- 40:14How many City routes you have in your office?
- 40:15Bill? 68.
- 40:18Wow. Not used to that.
- 40:22See both both officers, I've worked in had only two full and
- 40:27one auxiliary even my first office that had 16 while now has
- 40:3117 routes. And they actually just went
- 40:33formula this past summer because they can't keep anybody.
- 40:36And when I started, we had a full complement.
- 40:39But yeah, there's only three City routes in that office.
- 40:42There's only three City routes in my office.
- 40:45And we like I said, we've got to city and an auxiliary yet we
- 40:49have two full-time City carrier. One PTF and one CCA.
- 40:54So the PT f is learning how to be a 204 B and we pick on him
- 40:58when he comes out to have a smoke or like, hey, the plumes
- 41:00here. He's nicknamed the Puma and
- 41:05training, though. We have a supervisor come out
- 41:09with their little, you know, vaping pain.
- 41:12The other day, we told her, sorry, this is the craft area.
- 41:15You're down the other end, huh? Wow.
- 41:21Hey, I don't I'm not just nicknamed the big, a I earned
- 41:26it. Yeah, we know, we know, I don't
- 41:31die. I never questioned that one from
- 41:33you Bill. Well, we had a pre-thanksgiving
- 41:38you Smorgasbord on Wednesday. Uh-huh.
- 41:41Yeah. People brought locate food in
- 41:43your no, we're not allowed to do that anymore.
- 41:50In the postmaster come over. He says this food for anybody.
- 41:54I said, Dad's for working people get away from it.
- 41:58Yeah, our Postmaster doesn't allow us to do that anymore.
- 42:01She's very anti anti. Anybody having any type of fun
- 42:06at work? No, that's a great atmosphere.
- 42:11Oh, I know funds. Oh yeah, it really with her.
- 42:15There is the no-fun Zone. Yeah, but it's been II.
- 42:22Will say I've had quite the satisfaction.
- 42:24The last couple days of her lips are being super glued to my rear
- 42:29end right now. Being that I'm the only RCA and
- 42:33when I have to run a full route, I'm running my Ox route as well.
- 42:36So she has Been giving me a partial assistance herself, so
- 42:42I'm making sure she gets her worked in when needed.
- 42:47Mhm. It's we're at a Tipping Point
- 42:55right now. We really are.
- 42:57Yeah, we are and I don't, I don't know what the solution is
- 43:03besides just Bobby's, and, you know, getting rid of the
- 43:07management. We are management is so, so
- 43:09piss-poor, I had a supervisor, she's I'm not going to say
- 43:14stupid, she's just Dumb. I wanted her to sign a grievance
- 43:25is being submitted as timely and she's like, well, I don't want
- 43:29to put my name on this. I says you're not you're just
- 43:32initialing that it was timely and she is but I don't want to
- 43:35be associated with this. I said it's your job and she
- 43:40goes, no, I can't sign it, I said and you wonder what's wrong
- 43:42with this fucking place? I said, people like you don't
- 43:45even know what the hell you're doing.
- 43:47And I That you can talk to me like that and I turned around
- 43:50and snapped at her and I told her I said I'll talk.
- 43:52Anyway, I want to you. I says because somebody is
- 43:55stupid as you shouldn't be sitting in that fucking chair.
- 44:00Well, that's where we go. That's when you just write
- 44:03management refused to her. Science 3A.
- 44:08Yep. And my old Dr. Said if they
- 44:14refuse to sign it, you know, to if they refuse to sign and date
- 44:17it it makes those. They can't say it's untimely.
- 44:20Yep. And I got it.
- 44:22Damn. You know dot stamp to Circle
- 44:24stamp on there and said yeah there you go.
- 44:29And I had the clerk, get an initial it with the date stamp
- 44:32on there, too. You know, but that's the type of
- 44:37people that are in managing the post office guys.
- 44:41How scary is that my put it to three weeks ago at this point?
- 44:48I put in for Tuesday, Wednesday, this week.
- 44:54The supervisor fumbled around the desk for a moment.
- 44:58I don't even think it was a full minute so I can't find the
- 45:01calendar to see if there's availability and marked it
- 45:05denied. I said, how can you detect you
- 45:10can't see it with no ability to approve it.
- 45:12How can you deny it, right? Nor did she reach out to any
- 45:18other station within the city to see if there's availability for
- 45:23coverage or any offices within the area?
- 45:31Just to see if I had someone to cover which is the contention I
- 45:35put in my statement but when I send it up to my rap and my rep
- 45:41was there went last Wednesday and he sitting there waiting
- 45:46Well he's waiting to talk to someone, he interviewed her and
- 45:51ask her the same questions and then say Esther she reached out
- 45:55to anyone. She said I didn't know, I was
- 45:57supposed to Check it on. The station's, there were 22 of
- 46:03the stations that he really you know that he reached out to
- 46:07asking them for their their leave calendars.
- 46:10Their schedule. Sent it actually said I'm the
- 46:15stuff to of the stations had at least one RCA each.
- 46:19That could have come and got carried my route Tuesday and
- 46:22Wednesday by the way did you follow the order of
- 46:25consideration which tells you that you call around to the
- 46:29other offices? Yeah but if he's what's many
- 46:34consideration And that's where you're dealing with, how many
- 46:39stations are underneath your 11 main.
- 46:44That's all considered one office.
- 46:50It's like 9 or 10 that have rural route from them.
- 46:55So I think there's like 15 15 stations total 2 or 3, or just
- 47:07PO box and Retail and it's like 9.
- 47:11I think they have rural routes. Oh, yeah, she should have
- 47:14reached out to all, you know, and it's an email to all the
- 47:17rules saying is they're available.
- 47:20You know, do you have an RCA available?
- 47:22Oh, yeah, because you're still technically one big office.
- 47:25You're just in soda. Different stackable multiple
- 47:29buildings basically across the city, right?
- 47:32Where it's not Or mpos cuz it's all one office.
- 47:40Yeah. You know, case Miss are actually
- 47:44his all birth is on the second floor of the plant.
- 47:48He's not in an actual delivery in it.
- 47:53Well, it's like our office. We've got 26 offices with rural
- 47:58carriers within 25 miles of us and they don't call nobody.
- 48:06They don't check for nothing nohow, no way.
- 48:11And I just sit there, like, you know, that this is not how you
- 48:14run a post office folks. But yeah, that again, a lot of
- 48:18the supervisors in my office, don't even talk to each other.
- 48:21Let alone somebody at another office, right?
- 48:24Exactly. Yeah.
- 48:25It'd be unheard of that. They picked up the phone and ask
- 48:28him for help. Customers says, to me, says
- 48:30bill. I can't get through to anybody
- 48:32at the post office to complain about the mail.
- 48:34I said, well, you know, don't do that.
- 48:36Call Christie woollett. Houlihan's number.
- 48:39She's a congresswoman here. And yeah, this is yeah, why I
- 48:43said because she'll come over here and start shit.
- 48:46I said, but they have the phone silence in our office so nobody
- 48:50picks him up and let you go through the 800 number.
- 48:53Yeah, and that's, it doesn't say, this was one of my
- 48:56customers, it was somebody who's visiting and they, you know,
- 48:59they know me. So they have some, what did he,
- 49:02what do you do? I said best thing to do is, call
- 49:04you congresswoman. Yeah.
- 49:07Well that's they my office. They had the phones.
- 49:10Yeah, the Bringers turned off but they actually have the
- 49:13display so they can see when it rings but as a caller ID so that
- 49:17they know if it's the same customer calling over and over
- 49:20again and just not answer it. I mean yeah and I are off so I
- 49:26know how much we spend on I.T as the the post office but boy I'm
- 49:31tired of hearing, we don't have Internet, we don't have it, we
- 49:34can't print the holes. We can't print the premium for
- 49:37words, we don't have internet, but you're my son over here to
- 49:40hook it up for you, okay? So they just helped was wrong.
- 49:44Yeah. You don't have internet and they
- 49:46just upgraded ours this past summer.
- 49:50But the computer you don't have internet in our office.
- 49:56If you don't have internet, you can't open the retail window.
- 50:03How about that, folks? Oh yeah.
- 50:09It's Yeah. It is being run, run by a bunch
- 50:15of idiots with the joy, trying to get rid of these extra 50,000
- 50:19positions and people are going into job.
- 50:23We have people from operations going into HR department.
- 50:28And they're calling the postmaster to find out how to
- 50:31post a job. Yeah, breaking sad is that Yeah,
- 50:44this is I unless yeah I don't see where anything is going to
- 50:49get better. I mean I we I just all had our
- 50:53general wage increases but that's nothing to even.
- 50:59Think about, I mean, RCA's are still only at 1994 an hour you
- 51:04want to keep people like, you know, it just went up to 1994 as
- 51:10of the 19th of November. Yeah.
- 51:13But it didn't kick in yet, on a paycheck that it will be in.
- 51:17Or did it get the paycheck that we're currently in?
- 51:23Right. So this the yeah we're currently
- 51:25on the new pay period of what it just started, right?
- 51:30So yeah, we haven't even seen it yet.
- 51:33But still, I mean, will you can still go into almost any?
- 51:37We're making 15 to $20 an hour and not having to deal with the
- 51:43issues that we have to do with. Yeah, well, with the bullshit
- 51:48and I mean, if I didn't have so much time invested in, I
- 51:53wouldn't be staying. you know, I my time doesn't even count
- 51:57towards anything right now even We have a supervisor to comes to
- 52:03us to ask how to break up a route.
- 52:06What route is near what route, you know, just go away, just
- 52:10just go find a fucking corner and we'll take care of it
- 52:12because you know, like I said, management needs us.
- 52:16We don't need management if we took a couple carriers from, you
- 52:20know, each side of the aisle and and just you know, told
- 52:25management to stay home. We could run the place better.
- 52:27Oh, completely. Here we don't.
- 52:31Need Management in that office to tell us how to do our jobs.
- 52:34And I'm not going to say my supervisor, never do the job,
- 52:37she actually started as an RCA. Then she went to clerk craft,
- 52:41and then she went to City side and in she was City, carry
- 52:43before she took over supervisor, but she was too old for obesity
- 52:47Carrie, she gets it. You know, she wants to learn,
- 52:51she's at she goes. If I'm doing something wrong,
- 52:53please. Please tell me.
- 52:55Please show me, you know, that way I can correct it and get it
- 52:59done properly for, you know, And so she really her and I work
- 53:02together really well that way. My postmaster on the other side
- 53:06other started as a clerk in the same office then move it up to
- 53:10supervisor and now she's the postmaster and the same office
- 53:14she started in so, if that tells you anything, I can't make any
- 53:24comments or judgments because I'm biased in regards to the
- 53:27management my office, and it's good, and it's completely
- 53:32founded in reality. That is not the center Prejudice
- 53:36or anything like that, it's just the plain fucking truth and it's
- 53:41sad. I mean, these people if you have
- 53:45three open routes on the rural carrier side, okay, And we do
- 53:49everything to get the parcels out and all that.
- 53:52And you got one route that's backed up with 32 feet of mail,
- 53:55instead of sitting on your asses and letting us hear you laughing
- 53:59giggle. When we come back at 6:30, 7:00
- 54:01at night, how come you're not in the case of throwing the mail?
- 54:05No. See I don't have that.
- 54:06Why aren't you? You know why don't why don't you
- 54:10have the gumption to get the hell up off your fat ass and do
- 54:15something? I mean you know it's as plain
- 54:20and simple as that if you want us to work as a team then you
- 54:24have to participate. Okay, that exactly.
- 54:27Yes. I got our D20 ones.
- 54:31Next to me, Aldo has four days of DPS and FSS sitting there
- 54:38when he comes back Wednesday. He'll have six days.
- 54:43And then they've done nothing about it.
- 54:45When I offered to go in on Thanksgiving morning and run his
- 54:50DPS for three days, right? You can't, you might you'll go
- 54:55over 60 hours. Okay, okay.
- 55:03Fine. Yeah.
- 55:04Yeah, I'll go over 60 hours, I won't come in then.
- 55:08And then when you cut, when this guy comes back, he's going to
- 55:10give four full days of relief for free.
- 55:13Yeah, that's a, that's a grievance on filing War,
- 55:17funding. Are they making you guys up
- 55:21there? Spell out what was left and
- 55:24using the formula? Nope.
- 55:28Okay? Because because when mail is
- 55:32left, it has to be at the direction of the supervisor.
- 55:37And they're supposed to tag it. We're not authorized to that
- 55:41delay. Any mail whatsoever. like for
- 55:45example, when I when I come you know came back from Being off
- 55:53for a while and I have all the male sitting there from all the
- 55:56days I was going going because I would just set my stop watch and
- 56:01say this is how long it took me to clean up.
- 56:02Alright. No can't do that.
- 56:04You have to you, we have to put down or it was four tubs of now
- 56:11it was We Three Trees a GPS, a tray of raw or, you know, it's
- 56:18spelled out and they use the formula to calculate how, how
- 56:24long it should take in, I think on the, for the one, when I was
- 56:29going in June for the week for my State Convention, I had 187
- 56:36minutes and based off of Poland, the end of run reports for that
- 56:42week and calculating everything. The ADR came up with 200 in 43
- 56:48minutes. I'm like, okay.
- 56:52What do with that, exactly. I'm like, we don't even, yeah,
- 56:58I've got, I've got the postmaster to the point where,
- 57:01what I do is I turn around and say, okay, that the parcels went
- 57:05and the male stayed, Ergo? I want six hours for each day
- 57:12because you took two hours of work off the carrier.
- 57:15Right, and if the routes 8.8, I 16.8 hours.
- 57:20Okay, yeah, and you know I get no argument over at all.
- 57:28Yeah a yeah. Yeah.
- 57:32That what the last Tuesday I had 15 pay adjustments approved.
- 57:38What one girl is. She's getting a little over
- 57:40eleven hundred dollars. There's Billy, I still still
- 57:47fighting with them that because nobody in h.r., can go back to
- 57:51December last year when she would go came off the hold down.
- 57:56And give me the number of the sick days and annual leave that,
- 58:00she approved because they can't find it.
- 58:06This would mean can't find it? It's it, it's in the system.
- 58:09They said. Yeah, but we're not familiar
- 58:11with the system. Yay.
- 58:14What are you doing in a jar? Yeah, but kippa co worker hours
- 58:20for her based off of what they'd have to be able to figure that
- 58:23out. Josh.
- 58:25Hmm. Oh my God.
- 58:31Sorry. No, no, no.
- 58:41That makes sense. Yeah, these payroll.
- 58:56Can I start a company like ATP ATP or paychecks?
- 59:01Could figure it out? I don't think they would have, I
- 59:08don't think they would have a computer.
- 59:15Yeah, it's up to date like the post office member.
- 59:18Yeah, that's why you're here. They couldn't, you know, that's
- 59:23why it took four months to actually get a pay increase in
- 59:28place. But how long are we waiting for
- 59:30that back pay? still in RCA's are waiting on
- 59:36that, that that agreed amount in lieu of annual for those first
- 59:43two periods that they couldn't get it situated after having six
- 59:46months, to figure it out, And then it just magically appears
- 59:52after two more weeks or two more pay periods, really?
- 59:58With. It's amazing.
- 1:00:01You know, we've known for years, their computers were, you know,
- 1:00:05outdated and the sheet and what have you done to, you know, the
- 1:00:11push all this stuff forward. Nothing nothing.
- 1:00:17Yeah. It's like, it's like crying
- 1:00:19wolf. Yeah, you can cry wolf all day
- 1:00:22long, but if you don't do anything, guess what folks?
- 1:00:28Let's see. Pay schedules.
- 1:00:35Yeah, the 19th is moving that went into effect beginning of
- 1:00:39this pay period. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:44In the beginning of the next paper starts Christmas OT.
- 1:00:51It doesn't even matter. I get up in the morning.
- 1:00:54I get dressed. I go to work.
- 1:00:55I come home, I eat. I do my homework and then I go
- 1:00:59to bed. I get up in the morning.
- 1:01:01Get dressed. Go to work, you know.
- 1:01:03Yeah come home. Yeah, rinse.
- 1:01:05And repeat the next day I hear you.
- 1:01:07I wasn't. I was into overtime Friday.
- 1:01:09By the time I left the office to you know, go to the routes.
- 1:01:15I say plural anymore routes and, you know, the week prior that I
- 1:01:20had gotten that one Friday off out of the sake of having the
- 1:01:25mou that allows other carriers to volunteer to assist in other
- 1:01:28routes and and, you know, my, my primary for my five and one he
- 1:01:33said I, he didn't get Amazon in that day because like I said,
- 1:01:37hurry amazigh contractors messed up and he's like, I will go
- 1:01:41ahead and take the aux route for you today.
- 1:01:44So you can Have a day off. I said, absolutely.
- 1:01:47Thank you because when I asked her Thursday evening, when I got
- 1:01:50back from running in my routes, how many hours I had, we looked
- 1:01:53it up and I was already at forty eight point two hours on
- 1:01:56Thursday. So, yeah, you know, I it's it's
- 1:02:05getting to be insane. Unbelievable.
- 1:02:11Yeah you know it Christmas is just right around the corner.
- 1:02:14I it's how you know I'm willing to work that seventh day on
- 1:02:19Sundays to lighten. The load on Mondays just for the
- 1:02:21fair share fact that I know I have to run two routes on
- 1:02:25Mondays. But nope, let's not do that.
- 1:02:30Because that makes sense and do this.
- 1:02:33This this is how bad it is in Westchester out of the 68 City
- 1:02:39routes that we have, okay? And they normally lay down at
- 1:02:42approximately 14 a day. It's up to 22 right now.
- 1:02:47But out of the 47 carriers, they have 47. 39 of them are over a
- 1:02:54hundred thousand dollars this year.
- 1:02:57Yeah. 15 are over 140,000 dollars.
- 1:03:05Wow. Yes, that's yeah.
- 1:03:10Wow. That's that's amazing.
- 1:03:16The one carry, they actually. Chris the only reason he won't
- 1:03:19make over 150,000 this year's, they suspended him for a month.
- 1:03:26for those for delaying male last Christmas, but he'll still break
- 1:03:31a hundred thousand dollars. That's just that, that's crazy.
- 1:03:36Yeah, I mean I know we've got it.
- 1:03:39We've got a we got a 75 year old clerk.
- 1:03:42Has been in the post office for 54 years.
- 1:03:46And this guy, this guy works every bit of overtime.
- 1:03:49They offer which is funny because he's there but he
- 1:03:52doesn't work. He makes over a hundred thousand
- 1:03:56dollars a year and he's a civil service.
- 1:03:59His retirement, tag down in the corner is ninety six.
- 1:04:02Thousand dollars a year. Hi guys.
- 1:04:06Nice. That's what that.
- 1:04:08What the hell you doing working? I have a big family to support.
- 1:04:13Shut the hell up. Yeah.
- 1:04:16Yeah. Your Civil Service.
- 1:04:19You're of age to collect full Social Security.
- 1:04:23And the Civil Service. Pension dude, you could be
- 1:04:25living just fine and dandy at home.
- 1:04:29Jesus. Omega live anywhere that kind of
- 1:04:32money, you know, shit and that doesn't count if he decided to
- 1:04:36do any tfp. Well, yeah, the, the funny thing
- 1:04:42about is that, you know, if he retires, nobody will miss his
- 1:04:46work, he wants wanted he once took a break and this is no like
- 1:04:54and you know, I go in the bathroom, he's in the bathroom,
- 1:04:58he's combing his hair. Well he doesn't have enough.
- 1:05:00Of hair to comb and and he comes out of the bathroom after I can
- 1:05:05run it in the supervisor says it's, you know, Jesus Where Have
- 1:05:08You Been? He says I was in the bathroom.
- 1:05:10He said what are you doing? He says coming my hair.
- 1:05:13The supervisory Authority, is he looks down.
- 1:05:15He goes what hair? Because he has no hair on the
- 1:05:19top of his head, but he was in there for 20 minutes.
- 1:05:25Oh, you know, sometimes things things take time.
- 1:05:31If you like with us in my station, we have a clerk who is
- 1:05:37in her low to mid 70s. She's probably close to 40 years
- 1:05:43on the job. Rick, she's the only one that's
- 1:05:49worth a crap in our building and she's getting ready to go.
- 1:05:53Now she does it. You know, where the last seven
- 1:05:57years she's worked six days through you know her draw.
- 1:06:01Her relief day is Saturday, or non-skid is Saturday.
- 1:06:05The last couple months. She hasn't been coming in on
- 1:06:08Saturdays. She's burning time.
- 1:06:11Left him right now. To, is this a matter of Time
- 1:06:15before she actually goes goes. And we're going to be hurting
- 1:06:25when that happens because like I said, she's the only one
- 1:06:27actually gets any work done of the clerks.
- 1:06:33But it's like we have one clerk that knows the scheme for both
- 1:06:37ZIP codes in our office. And when she, when she gets a
- 1:06:41day off, we don't get any mail. Okay?
- 1:06:45Claire, any clerk mail that the following day we get powered,
- 1:06:49you know, because she comes in three hours earlier that this
- 1:06:53they try to catch up on there. Yeah and they go well you know
- 1:06:56you have 42 feet of mail to go through today, huh?
- 1:06:59What? Yeah, you know, just ended to
- 1:07:04the plant. Okay.
- 1:07:06Right. Well Jen she's the only scheme.
- 1:07:10We have in the building. We he only knows the ones own
- 1:07:16even though we have three zones in there now, They just give the
- 1:07:20PSC the little finger thing, the little finger scanner with a
- 1:07:23laptop, and they just opened the bar code on the letters.
- 1:07:27If they don't know what they put it off to the side till they're
- 1:07:29done and then they go and look at the actual scheme and figure
- 1:07:33it out. Yeah.
- 1:07:35It's it's a, it's a shame. I mean, when we used to have
- 1:07:41this guy Eddie used to do the throw parcels, And this guy
- 1:07:46through Parcels, you know, not using machine, okay, from
- 1:07:50knowing every route in the office and that's back when we
- 1:07:52had 102 City carry, it should be routes and 2022, rural routes
- 1:07:58and he would throw quarrels breath knowing where each one
- 1:08:01went. Oh yeah.
- 1:08:04Yeah. And that's the one thing my
- 1:08:06postmaster, you know, being a clerk in that office for so
- 1:08:09long. If she has to help toss Parcels,
- 1:08:12she could toss some parcels. I'll give the woman that
- 1:08:14correct. Yeah.
- 1:08:15No, she could toss the parcels but these two newer PCS that we
- 1:08:19have for our to our mpo offices. You know, the one will still
- 1:08:24have the finger scanner on telling you, where to go, where
- 1:08:27it goes, but it still ends up in the wrong PIN.
- 1:08:31Yeah, that happens a lot. And it's, you know, it's is
- 1:08:35that's why they worked in the post office, not in the NBA.
- 1:08:38All right, right. There's a difference because
- 1:08:43routes Evans is right in front of you and Route. 2's is at the
- 1:08:46end of the row. So tell me how to's ends up in
- 1:08:49sevens. I mean I get City six and Rule
- 1:08:536, you know, they're on the opposite sides, but come on now.
- 1:08:59What was the what I got? I got a package in my hamper the
- 1:09:02other week. Massapequa Massachusetts or
- 1:09:06something like that? Uh-huh.
- 1:09:08What it was. It was Rural Route. 22.
- 1:09:11Yep. So, build a.
- 1:09:14Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 1:09:15Those too. Up.
- 1:09:51Yeah, or I routinely get stuff. In my cage, I'm rolling out. 60,
- 1:09:5660. I routinely get things for City.
- 1:10:0116, rural 16. Sometimes I get stuff for rule
- 1:10:0750. What?
- 1:10:08They don't understand other than if they're just looking at the
- 1:10:11numbers and you know, 50 60, Those bother me, I don't mind.
- 1:10:17You know the cages that are round mine like you know, 58 is
- 1:10:22right next to mine and he always pulls his Parcels wait.
- 1:10:27So If he's if his cage is overflowing and it bumps into
- 1:10:33mine, I, it doesn't bother me then, you know, then they're
- 1:10:37trying to get to rule 68, which is behind.
- 1:10:40You know, my my page sits in front of their.
- 1:10:42So if they throw rule 68 short, it'll end up in mind and then I
- 1:10:47have the same problem. 69 being nice to my cage.
- 1:10:51So sometimes the first case is overflowing or they just missed.
- 1:10:55Those are the ones I expect what we're looking at.
- 1:10:58Okay, we're all sick. You know, if you something for
- 1:11:01Shannon street at the, well, that's either 50 or 16 because I
- 1:11:04don't have Shannon put it online.
- 1:11:07So But what we have in one of the other zones, there's a
- 1:11:15memorial picking 3, there's a city pickit 3, but in one of the
- 1:11:19other zones and in that zone there Gurney's are.
- 1:11:25Not near. Where my GE is where my journey
- 1:11:29is like they're completely separate areas like they're near
- 1:11:32but they're not together. At least, 23 times a week, I got
- 1:11:41packages for you. Which means that they're coming
- 1:11:47in and being sorted to the wrong Zone in the first place.
- 1:11:55Like I said, they spending a billion dollars a year on it and
- 1:11:58they can't get it right? I have seen wait but shortly
- 1:12:06after we got there. Package itself.
- 1:12:25Oh wait, they do and they still screw it up.
- 1:12:33Hey, that takes up for okay. Be you know you you're
- 1:12:41downplaying. The amount of effort they put in
- 1:12:43the Miss throwing bars. I look at them.
- 1:12:53Stop at once. I look at hamper, fulls of
- 1:12:57mis-sent parcels that come from the plant to us.
- 1:13:00Yeah. I mean, how do you do that,
- 1:13:06right? I mean I'll be going through my
- 1:13:12my tubs of, you know, route sorted raw flats.
- 1:13:17And it's just like, okay not me. Not me, not me, not me, not me,
- 1:13:23not me, not me, not me. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 1:13:29Sometimes I have to look at the label on the the tub you like
- 1:13:32okay is this supposed to be for this route or the thin this
- 1:13:36whole city somewhere else? I just want to get something
- 1:13:42that's like coming from Arizona for Wisconsin and I get it.
- 1:14:03I've had a piece of mail that I've had a piece of mail that I
- 1:14:07keep throwing in the missense and blocking out the the
- 1:14:10barcodes that supposed to go to California and it still keeps
- 1:14:15coming back to Route 11 because I've handled this piece three
- 1:14:19times and I looked at and I finally just chalked it in the
- 1:14:22ovum because that's what it was. Anyways, Yeah, I have a shit fit
- 1:14:31when the electronic address request.
- 1:14:34You know their birth requested and yeah you put it in there it
- 1:14:39comes back at the L, put it in, there comes back, put it in.
- 1:14:43There comes back with the yellow sticker this time.
- 1:14:46It's like boats. I can't do anything more with
- 1:14:48this, you know, it's going into into the yellow, to the hell
- 1:14:52with you. Like yeah, yeah, I'm done with
- 1:14:55you. Yeah, you do.
- 1:14:58It's like burnt for all that we do for all the mechanisms that
- 1:15:04are in place to make the post office.
- 1:15:06Efficient, it fights itself. It really does.
- 1:15:11Yeah. And it inflates us and it's
- 1:15:14like, you know, are you kidding me?
- 1:15:15I mean, you can't be that stupid and the machines can't be that
- 1:15:19stupid. I mean, you know, they're their
- 1:15:21computers. They don't know any different,
- 1:15:24but God, you know why is this? It just happened a day in, and
- 1:15:28day out, all year long. Just remember.
- 1:15:32Bill, the computer is only as smart as Amanda programmed it.
- 1:15:37Oh you you mean like the rural carrier specialist that put 42
- 1:15:43houses on the end of a route that was already a 46k and you
- 1:15:48know three other carriers go right by them but you have to go
- 1:15:52three and a half miles off the end of this route that service
- 1:15:54the damn things. I'll finger you can't make
- 1:15:59adjustments now because of the men email survey and all that
- 1:16:02bullshit. All right, see that.
- 1:16:09A girl that's already in the high 60 or low 70 standard hours
- 1:16:16and they added a whole new subdivision because I had to go
- 1:16:19somewhere. Okay.
- 1:16:23Oh, raised U. K--, 48.
- 1:16:29That's getting a new development.
- 1:16:30That includes 712. Deliveries.
- 1:16:33Holy shit. That's a whole nother routing
- 1:16:35itself. Yes, it is.
- 1:16:38Yeah, could be a whole nother K 48 in itself right there.
- 1:16:43Yes, it can be because it's 70 miles to get to the first stop.
- 1:16:51Wow, unbelievable. Wow, I would say unbelievable.
- 1:16:56I work for the Post Office long enough to know that it's
- 1:16:58believable. It's believable.
- 1:16:59Yeah, you can't make Common Sense, common sense and common,
- 1:17:10courtesy stopped at the door. Yes, yes, it does.
- 1:17:14Well, on that note guys, we're gonna wrap it up for tonight and
- 1:17:20we'll come back next week. so any final words, Mike Now, just
- 1:17:27just, just remember, it be safe out there.
- 1:17:33I'm sure we will touch on it, but just to be safe.
- 1:17:39Don't don't let the, it's only male, it's only Parcels.
- 1:17:43Don't let it, don't let it stress you out. it just speaking
- 1:17:55of, Don't like you said, don't don't let yourself get stressed
- 1:18:00out if you feel yourself, getting overwhelmed, take it.
- 1:18:03That step back. Take a deep breath and step.
- 1:18:06Back in there, be safe, especially with it getting
- 1:18:12darker earlier. I know here at 4:30.
- 1:18:15It was already dusk. So, Yeah, just be safe aware
