- 2:23afternoon, Good afternoon. Last time was on here. I was here to
- 2:28encourage parents, and now I want to make you aware about schools. But
- 2:35before I start, let me sing this song. He's a lily O the
- 2:40Vallet. He's a bride had a morning star. Oh, he's a lile
- 2:50b the vallet. He's a bride and a morning star. He's a lili
- 3:00other bout it. He is a bright and I'm on and starf Isn't that
- 3:07good news? Ooh, hollelujah. Isn't that good news? Hallelujah, Glory,
- 3:16glory, glory. He is the lily. We got to put God
- 3:21first in all things and everything, especially in this changing world because a lot
- 3:28is going on. And today I want to talk about schools and education and
- 3:32how it has changed over the years. Before there were schools, children used
- 3:38to work with their parents in the field as young as five six years old.
- 3:44Why because there was no such thing schools. You know, you just
- 3:47work in the field with your parents. So when nineteen twelve came, the
- 3:53children's labor laws started, so they had to figure out what can we do
- 3:59with these children? Children and a lot of churches have already had schools because
- 4:03they wanted their children to be educated for the world. So the government's up,
- 4:10let us start schools too, and they look at it as an opportunity
- 4:14to make some money. And it's been a money things since. And if
- 4:20you think about it, when it comes to these standardized tests and all this
- 4:25stuff, like, for real, who's actually learning? Because when you're in
- 4:30the classroom and you're trying to teach the children the basics of ABC's and one,
- 4:34two three, who's actually learning if you're telling them that they have to
- 4:41pass these standardized tests because they don't even know step one first, we even
- 4:47got away from writing a cursive. They can't even sign their own name.
- 4:51So school and education has changed over the years, and parents have to fight
- 4:59for their truth and for their education. So when it started, when school
- 5:03started, it started in the church, and that's why a lot of private
- 5:09schools, you know, get their money first. You why they're getting money
- 5:14before the public schools now, you know. And then as the years went
- 5:20by, certain children couldn't go to school. They weren't allowed to read or
- 5:26write. And then when they did allow them to read and write, they
- 5:30had to go to their own school. So it was segregated for a very
- 5:34long time, and they didn't get the same education as they're now white,
- 5:44you know what I'm saying. Children, And the sad part is if you
- 5:48look at the different schools, all you have to do is get in your
- 5:53car and drive to different neighborhoods and you'll see a big, huge difference when
- 6:00they come to schools. You can go into a certain neighborhood and you will
- 6:06see wires and electricity and stuff that's falling apart in certain schools. Then you
- 6:15can go way out in the suburbs and go to their schools, and what
- 6:18do you see, Big beautiful, bright schools with a big old band,
- 6:25a big old feel they gave everything they need and then when somebody say something
- 6:30it's an issue, you know, No, I don't know. I don't
- 6:35know, because all I know is all our children should be learning the same
- 6:42thing, especially at this day and time. Why are we still segregated?
- 6:47We're not segregated, yesuz when it comes to education, we are because certain
- 6:53schools learn different things. They learn about coding, All schools don't learn about
- 6:58coding. Dues learn about housekeeping, nursing finances, they learn that, all
- 7:05schools don't learn that. So we are still segregated. And I'm asking the
- 7:12parents to get involved, and a lot of parents say, well, I
- 7:15can't get involved. Yes, you can go to the PTA meetings, get
- 7:19involved. Don't wait till something real, real bad happened. Then you want
- 7:24to say something, you have to show up, you have to vote,
- 7:28you have to make sure they hear your voice. And so the segregation,
- 7:34it just had continued for years and years and years, and that's why the
- 7:39Brown versus the Board of Education came about because they said, you know what,
- 7:44You're not gonna keep on treating our children like this, or children have
- 7:48to learn. So in nineteen fifty four, yes, people went to court
- 7:54and they sue and they won. They won on paper, They on on
- 8:00paper, but they because if you really look at education, they really really
- 8:05didn't win the way they're supposed to have won. Because you still got Now
- 8:09you got the lottery, now you got all this crazy stuff. Oh my
- 8:16child go to this school and that school. We still have different schools doing
- 8:20different things and not giving our children what they need. There's a difference between
- 8:24need and want. And when it came to children who are in disparity,
- 8:31who really really really need the help, they had the audacity and the nerve
- 8:37to say they don't need arts, they don't need music. Well, let
- 8:45me tell you. I have been teaching and working with children from nineteen ninety
- 8:50on. Now do y'all hear me? So I've seen education change. I've
- 8:54seen things change in the classroom. When they still are taking art and music
- 9:03out of the classroom, I was like, what are you doing? Like
- 9:07what are we doing? Like the children they need music and they need art.
- 9:15They need extra curriculum because it helps their brain grow, It helps their
- 9:18brain to develop, it makes their brain branch off. And say ooh,
- 9:24I could do this and I could do that. But if you take everything
- 9:26away, calling yourself punishing them for what what have they done? Why do
- 9:33they have to be punished for what they are? Children? Let them be
- 9:37children. When I was growing up, we were allowed you know, remember
- 9:43they used to have these papers, don't They probably don't have it anymore.
- 9:46They used to give us these long rectangle papers and at the top it was
- 9:50blank, and at the bottom they had lines and at the top you can
- 9:52draw a picture. You draw a picture about your story at the top,
- 9:56and at the bottom you write about it. They took that away. Where
- 10:01does the creativity comes in? Like, the children are not allowed to think
- 10:07and explore and imagine anymore. They want to just take everything that's good away
- 10:15from children, and so we have to fight for that. And I used
- 10:20to get in trouble off taime. I don't care because thank god I was
- 10:24a social study teacher, and I thank god for that because it opened up
- 10:31a door for me to be creative. It opened up a door for me
- 10:35to help children to solve problems because I would say, if you were there,
- 10:41what would you have done and what would you have changed? And then
- 10:46I will bring different crowns in there and say draw this, draw a scenery,
- 10:50change the history, draw this, do that, and I will do
- 10:56a lot of hands on because I am a visual person. I like to
- 11:00see things and I like to see it come to pass. And so what
- 11:03I would do in my classroom our bringing legos for older children. Yes,
- 11:11a lot of people keep on saying, but they they in high school,
- 11:15they don't want to play with no legos. Okay, go ahead, go
- 11:18ahead and think that, because from fourth grade to twelfth grade I had them
- 11:22playing legos, played th old, all the stuff that you give to early
- 11:26childhood. I let them do that. Why because they had to be creative
- 11:33and solve problems. And I would give them a scenario and I say,
- 11:35okay, solve it using this, and they did. And they worked together.
- 11:41And a lot of people will get mad, said m Her class show
- 11:43is quiet. Okay, so you mad? You mad? The children were
- 11:48working together. See, that's what's wrong, because we need to teach our
- 11:54children how to socialize because they got to grow up, they have to become
- 12:00adults, and they have to learn how to get along with the next person.
- 12:05And that's what's wrong with a society. Now we have tooken socialization out.
- 12:13We tell the children soon they go in the classroom, be quiet,
- 12:16don't say a word. Well, where do they get to socialize at lunchtime?
- 12:20I mean, they don't have a class to socialize. They need to
- 12:24talk. And I remember my principal came in one time. He said,
- 12:28they sure's doing a lot of talking. I said, mm hm. He
- 12:31said you let them. I say, yes, I let them talk.
- 12:35This is a social study class, and their social liven And he looked at
- 12:41me. He thought I was crazy. But if we're gonna talk about history,
- 12:45let them talk about it. Let them solve the problem and let them
- 12:50and I will have them do skits in my classroom. And I sent out
- 12:56you know, permission slips and asked, could I video tape your children do
- 13:01a skit because we're gonna reenact history. And their parents would say, okay,
- 13:05so they will take a role of who gonna be this person, who's
- 13:11gonna be that person? Because I wanted them to have fun with history,
- 13:16because you know, when I was growing up, history was born. I
- 13:18was like, oh my god, we're gonna get this class. But I
- 13:22had to find a way to make education and make learning fun. And we
- 13:26need to bring fun back into education so that children they don't mind just running
- 13:33school and learning how to learn how to do this or learn how to do
- 13:37that. But we have taken so much fun out of education and made it
- 13:43so serious that children don't even want to go. Even the teachers don't even
- 13:46want to be in a classroom. It's like, oh my god, we
- 13:48gotta do what because all this baracracy, all this. You can't do this
- 13:54and you can't do that. And yes, they do give teachers a list
- 13:58of things they can and cannot do, and you like, well, dad,
- 14:03my hands is tied. And then the parents is getting mad as the
- 14:05educators while you're not doing this, why you're not doing that? Well,
- 14:09we can. And then when you try to explain that to some of the
- 14:13parents, they get very upset because they don't understand what's going on behind the
- 14:20scene. That's why I always tell parents, please get involved. Please call
- 14:24up to the school, Please ask if you could sit in the classroom,
- 14:28please please please. It's a please, because you need to know what's going
- 14:33on in your child's classroom. You need to know what's going on in your
- 14:39child's school. And so why are we talking about how school started all that?
- 14:46Because it has changed over the years. I remember in twenty ten,
- 14:54I kept on asking parents, please get involved, Please talk to your children,
- 15:01if your children's behavior has changed, please find a way to talk to
- 15:11your child and find out what's going on. Why, because in twenty ten,
- 15:18now this is twenty twenty three, but in twenty ten a lot of
- 15:22things were happening in the schools. And from two thousand eight, two thousand
- 15:33and nine twenty ten, I personally and some more teachers had to go to
- 15:41children who are in elementary. We're not talking about high school. We're not
- 15:43talking about junior high. I personally had to go to some funerals because of
- 15:52children taking their lives. This thing is serious when it comes to education.
- 15:58And always tell parents, pay attention to your child. But it's like they
- 16:04want to say, be quiet, be quiet, don't talk to me.
- 16:07I don't want to hear it. You got to hear it. It's a
- 16:11plead. It's a plead going now, and I've been saying it since twenty
- 16:15ten. Pay your attention to your child. If that attitude has changed,
- 16:19if that behavior has changed, get involved. And you know how children don't
- 16:26talk to me. I don't want to tell you nothing. You better go
- 16:29to that school. You better sit in that classroom. You better find out
- 16:33what's going on. You better learn your children's friends, learn their names,
- 16:37who they are, who they hang with. Be nosy. They are still
- 16:42a child, They're not an adult. They meet your help. Especially now
- 16:48now that was thirteen years ago when I was saying, parents, please get
- 16:52involved. Why because there's a lot of things that I have witnessed with my
- 16:59own eyes in the classroom. And I literally had to call parents and tell
- 17:06them what's going on with their child, even though not my child, no,
- 17:11no, not my child. I remember, Hallelujah. I was teaching
- 17:17some tenth graders and I called the parents. I said, I'm not trying
- 17:22to be funny, but do you allow your child to come to school and
- 17:27have people touch on them? And they was like, what is you talking
- 17:30about? And I said, well, they sitting here and all these children
- 17:34touching on them and they supposed to be learning. And they said, what,
- 17:40let me speak to them, and they was talk to their child.
- 17:45Find out, yeah, their child was doing things. Because a lot of
- 17:49parents, they do not want to get ball. A lot of parents say,
- 17:53well, you know, I'm already stressed that I'm tired. I already
- 17:57got to go to work. You know, you want to add this to
- 18:00me. You want to tell me this, You want to tell me that
- 18:03I'm trying to get you involved because there's a lot of things going on in
- 18:10the schools. There are a lot of things going on in the classroom.
- 18:14And then you got some schools with the principals they tell the teachers, don't
- 18:18tell the parents what's going on. Don't tell them jack because they don't want
- 18:22to get sued. They don't want to get involved. But I'm different because
- 18:26when I go to a classroom, I tell those children I'm your mama.
- 18:33I'm your mama in here from whatever time you come to school, I have
- 18:38to make sure that you are okay. I have to make sure that you're
- 18:42safe. Is okay. I didn't come here to just get a patcheck.
- 18:48I come here to teach. I come here to make sure you are safe.
- 18:53And it's very rare when you have educators like that. But I'm all
- 18:59school and you shouldn't get involved. And it's a lot of teachers said,
- 19:03well, I can't call the parents, but I want those people. Oh,
- 19:06well call you in a minute and tell you what's going on with your
- 19:08child. We got to work together as adults. We got to work together
- 19:15because these our babies. And in twenty ten, I was telling parents,
- 19:22if your child's behavior change, asked them, did anything happen in the bathroom,
- 19:29because a lot of things happen in the bathroom. Oh, my goodness,
- 19:33I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear Why you
- 19:34don't want to hear it because you don't want to believe that this world has
- 19:41changed. You don't want to believe that something bad like this can happen to
- 19:45your child. Guess what it is. And now it's worse than ever because
- 19:52I tried to warn parents thirteen years ago, but they didn't want to hear
- 19:56it. Oh, be quiet, girl, that's not going on. I
- 20:00said, yes it is. I said, they are doing things in the
- 20:04bath room. Oh they can't be doing that. They not doing that.
- 20:11Yes, they are wherever you can think. They can imagine in a class
- 20:15in the bathroom. They are doing that in the bathroom. And if you
- 20:21look it up. There was a little boy, I believe he was nine
- 20:25years old and he went to a school here in Ohio. He was raped.
- 20:30He was game raped. This is elementary. We ain't talking about junior
- 20:36high and we're not talking about high school. We talking about elementary. He
- 20:40was game rape at his school, went home, lay in his bed.
- 20:45His mother said, you're not gonna eat. He said no and went to
- 20:49his room, and that was the last time she saw her son. Let
- 20:56me tell y'all, y'all got to get involved. So she had to do
- 21:00an investigation. She asked the school, what happened to my child? What
- 21:07happened? They kept on saying, I don't know, I don't know.
- 21:10When she finally got the lawyer, and this is the sad port she had
- 21:14to get a lawyer. The lawyer said, I want to see the cameras
- 21:18because a lot of schools have cameras. They said, I want to see
- 21:22the camera. And they showed this on National News. Do y'all hear me?
- 21:27They showed this on Natural News where her son was laying on the ground,
- 21:34his pants down, and then they they took the video back and they
- 21:41showed the children run out the bathroom laughing and giggling. That boy was torture,
- 21:49but the school tried to cover it up. And in twenty ten,
- 21:53I tried to tell parents, pay attention to your children. Because when the
- 22:00attitude change and something change, something has happened and it's not good. Talk
- 22:07to your children, give them the help that they need, and don't yell
- 22:11at them, don't scream at them, don't fuss at them, don't say
- 22:17why you allowed us happen. Don't say that to them. Because bullying has
- 22:22has went to another level of evil. Bullying when we was growing up,
- 22:29it will be you know, we cap on your mama, We cap on
- 22:32your feet, your toes, your eye. You know, you know,
- 22:33we will cap on each other as children. But this bullying, it's a
- 22:38different kind of evil. You know, at first, we at the early
- 22:44two thousand, we went through the cyper bullying, you know where people get
- 22:48on social media and talk about you, talk about your family and all the
- 22:52devil. Was a different kind of ciper bully. But this bullying now turns
- 22:57to a different level of bullying and a lot of us don't want to face
- 23:02it, but we have to because we losing our children at an early age.
- 23:06Now, you know, it washeard of children in elementary going through this
- 23:12process, but they are because evil has taken to a different level. Evil
- 23:21is at a different age and as an educator, I'm trying to warn people,
- 23:26pay attention to your children. Quit closing your eyes. Oh not much,
- 23:32y'all. That won't happen too much. We now, now we got
- 23:38parents who are taking the school board the court and now they have to go
- 23:47to Supreme Court because now we have went to a different level of evil.
- 23:56Now we got boys who are in and saying that they are a transgender and
- 24:04they wearing girls' clothes and they going in girls' bathrooms and they raping them.
- 24:11So now we get in nine, ten and eleven year olds being violated,
- 24:18and we still want to close our eyes. Pay attention to your children,
- 24:26Go to these PTA meetings, get involved, get these petitions signed. Yelling
- 24:34and screaming and hollering and marching. It's not going to get anything changed,
- 24:41but petitions will. If we can get enough parents to go to the city
- 24:47council and get these petitions and get these signs and say listen here, we
- 24:52need to do something because bullying unacceptable, unacceptable. Do you hear me?
- 25:03That's right? Unacceptable? And I'm looking at these parents. I'm looking at
- 25:10these different cases now and the parents will saying, you know, my child
- 25:15was violated, and the people sitting there just looking at them. They looking
- 25:19at them like okay, and and they said, but whatever, it is
- 25:22your child. And they're looking like, but it's not my child. And
- 25:26that's the problem in their head. It's not my child. But whatever,
- 25:30it was your child. Because every child that come to the school, if
- 25:36I'm there, that's my child. And I always tell the parents you birth
- 25:41them, But when they come to the school, I'm their mom because I
- 25:45got to watch over them. I gotta protect them. I gotta make sure
- 25:48they're safe. So if I try to warn you about something and tell you
- 25:52about something, I'm not saying it just to be saying it. I'm not
- 25:56saying it because I want you to be mad at me telling you. I'm
- 26:00trying to warn you what's going on. But some parents they just I just
- 26:04don't want to get involved. For you, your child's advocate. You're supposed
- 26:10to fight for your child, and a lot of parents they don't want to
- 26:15fight. It's like they're so overwhelmed and they so tired, and they so
- 26:22drain. It's like I don't I don't want to deal with this, but
- 26:26you have to. You have to because a teacher only can do so much
- 26:32and some teachers who actually, you know, report this. A lot of
- 26:37them get fired because you been like, we're so and so songs are gone.
- 26:41You know why because if they're a good teacher and they have reported it,
- 26:45they got fired. You know why because now we live in a system
- 26:48where they want you to be quiet. They don't want you to speak up
- 26:52for the children. They don't want you to say anything. Just keep your
- 26:56mouth closed. If you saw it, just be quiet. They don't say
- 27:00anything. That's what kind of world we live in now. But this is
- 27:06a plea to ask the parents to please get involved. I have said this
- 27:11in twenty ten. Get involved, and now is at a different level.
- 27:18Is at a different level. Our society has changed, and now we have
- 27:26to fight the government because the government think we can just do what we want.
- 27:33They already they already attack us with these different you know, how can
- 27:41I say it, these different sitcoms where the children are telling the adults what
- 27:45to do. So they started with that, then they started with where you
- 27:52know you can't discipline your children. You know, that was the next blow.
- 27:57Now this blow is worse. Yeah, they are fighting with their child.
- 28:06They are so it's like different levels. But if we get together as
- 28:14parents and sign these petitions forget the school boards, sign these petitions, go
- 28:23to your city council and get these petitions passed. You need one hundred to
- 28:30two hundred parents to sign these petitions to get these petition passed. Oh,
- 28:36I didn't know that you need at least one hundred to two hundred people.
- 28:41Don't go to the school board, go to city council because they will have
- 28:48to change the law. But it's going to take all of us to work
- 28:52together get these petitions signed. You know, if you want to be a
- 28:59trend gender, be a transgender, but have your own bathroom. Because I
- 29:04need my child to be safe and if when it comes to bullying, I
- 29:11need the schools to be reliable because too many schools are telling the principles.
- 29:18I mean, too many principles are telling the teachers be quiet, keep your
- 29:22mouth shut. I have actually got rowed up because I said you need to
- 29:27do something or I keep everything, honey. They don't want me to write
- 29:32a book because I'm gonna have my receipts. Do you hear me. I'm
- 29:36gonna have my receipts because I have been written up multiple times because I said
- 29:42this bullying has to stop. It has to stop. It's being ridiculous.
- 29:48This don't make no sense. Oh you need to be quiet, just be
- 29:52quiet. Really, you're telling me to be quiet when I supposed to report
- 29:57what's going on in the classroom. And but you're gonna tell me I'm gonna
- 30:00lose my job. So yeah, I kept on getting rolled up, and
- 30:07they did give me a letter. They gave me a letter and say your
- 30:12service are no longer needed. Teachers are getting fired because they speaking up.
- 30:21That's why you're losing your good teachers. And now you got people in there.
- 30:26There are some schools they don't even have teachers. They just hire anybody
- 30:30now because they can't even keep a teacher because they had did the good teachers
- 30:36so wrong that now it's just anybody in the classroom. And that's scary because
- 30:42now who's actually teaching the children and who actually care. That's where we act,
- 30:49and so we need if this is a plague on our teachers. I
- 30:55mean, parents, please get together, get these parties, take a day
- 31:00out, y'all. You know, given these social medias and said, listen,
- 31:03on this day, we're gonna go to city council and we're gonna sign
- 31:07this petition. Get this petition signed, because even though they said there's a
- 31:11law out for bullying, the school's not paying attention to that bullying. They
- 31:18don't even care about that. So we need to make sure it go to
- 31:22the next level. So this is my plead today, and this is what
- 31:29I want to talk about how school has changed. And I'm pleading with the
- 31:33parents. Get these petitions together. Please, I'm begging you get these petitions
- 31:40together. And author Black Diamond said, the problem is the court's taking power
- 31:45from the parents by telling them what they cannot do when you come to their
- 31:49children. Now, the children run with it and do what they want to
- 31:52do. And that's why we still got to get these petitions together because when
- 32:00it comes to correction, they don't mind having a popo on our children.
- 32:07So we need to take our power back because a lot of and we need
- 32:12to. I'm telling you we need to take a power back. Now.
- 32:17Have the people calling my house multiple times? They sure did, And you
- 32:22know what I told them, Since you think I don't know what I'm doing
- 32:25and raising my children, you go ahead and take them because that's the attitude
- 32:30I had. Do I have receipts. Sure do. I still got papers
- 32:37showing that they came and investigated me because I am not going to have children
- 32:43tell me how to run my house. And I get up every day,
- 32:46work and pay the bills. Not in my house. So we gotta we
- 32:53can discipline our children without beating. And one thing about my children, they
- 32:59could say, you go ahead and be crazy and watch Mama beat Craig Kray
- 33:04because honey, I'll take everything away from you. As long as you got
- 33:07food and some clothes, that's all you need. Cause that's kind of parent
- 33:14I am. You won't have no TV, you might not have no dresser,
- 33:19you won't have no clothes. No, you'll probably have about two outfits,
- 33:22maybe three outfits, maybe five if I'm nice, you know, but
- 33:28I'm old school. So yeah, don't reward children because you told them to
- 33:35pick up some and they pick it up. They should be picking it up
- 33:37anyway. Be the parent, stand up for your children, and get these
- 33:44petitions together, because it's the petitions that's going to make a change going to
- 33:50the school board. Get these petitions. And that's my plea for today.
