- 0:02Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. At your favorite time
- 0:04Speaker 1: of week, you download the Greasies. Did you get you
- 0:06Speaker 1: something to drink? You go for a walk, you go
- 0:08Speaker 1: to the gym. We don't care, as long as you're here.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I'm marking. I'm here in the podcasting studio. My man
- 0:13Speaker 1: Scottie is out on the road in acc Country.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Man, how they'll arge, I'm good acc Country. It is
- 0:19Speaker 2: right down the road from the wolf Pack vinc State,
- 0:24Speaker 2: close by the Blue Devils of Duke, and close by
- 0:27Speaker 2: to the Tarhells in North Carolina. So yeah, man, right here,
- 0:31Speaker 2: handy in the in the Golden Triangle.
- 0:33Speaker 1: The Golden triangle a research triangle.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I guess the research trale.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I think the Golden Triangle is some somehow.
- 0:42Speaker 3: No, it's golden triangle.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It is.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Oh that's because you know what they're not having in
- 0:49Speaker 1: Mississippi is the research triangle. I can guarantee you that much.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Probably not, Hey, don't doubt baby.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Public education is on the way up in Mississippi, outperformed California.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Gotta like it.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Gotta like it. Oh man, God, Today we were going
- 1:13Speaker 1: to talk to Big ten. This is a literally a
- 1:16Speaker 1: big conference. Eighteen teams in this conference. It's fans from
- 1:20Speaker 1: just off the shores of New York City, all the
- 1:23Speaker 1: way down to southern California and Los Angeles, and all
- 1:27Speaker 1: the way back up to the Pacific Northwest. This is
- 1:30Speaker 1: a humongous conference. And what's crazy is is you start
- 1:34Speaker 1: to dig into it and you look back from last season.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I mean, the more I look, the more I like
- 1:41Speaker 1: some of these teams, I mean for different reasons. And
- 1:43Speaker 1: you know, it's like, is Indiana gonna be able to
- 1:46Speaker 1: compete like they did last year? Which I think is
- 1:48Speaker 1: a fascinating story. Signetti getting there, Hey google me gets
- 1:52Speaker 1: into the college football playoffs and Noverybody's like, Okay, it's
- 1:55Speaker 1: gonna be good. That team's been hot garbage most of
- 1:57Speaker 1: my life and I'm fifteen years old. But now we
- 1:59Speaker 1: just Nebraska. Are you going to get a year three
- 2:05Speaker 1: Matt rule bump like he did at Baylor, like he
- 2:08Speaker 1: did at Temple, got a quarterback coming back in Dylan Royola.
- 2:12Speaker 1: You know, it's a lot of interesting things, man. So yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 1: when you look at the Big Ten, obviously you've got
- 2:19Speaker 1: the big names in Ohio State, in Michigan, our last
- 2:22Speaker 1: two national champions coming out of this and this year,
- 2:25Speaker 1: the team that most people have slotted at number one
- 2:28Speaker 1: is Bence State and so fascinating conference when you start
- 2:33Speaker 1: diving into it, Man, and so, I I'm going to
- 2:36Speaker 1: ask you where you want to start, because I don't
- 2:37Speaker 1: know if we're going to cover every single team, but
- 2:39Speaker 1: I'm going to try to hit some hye points. And
- 2:41Speaker 1: I've actually got some bets that I have already made
- 2:43Speaker 1: in the Big ten.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I think we've got to start with the fighting James
- 2:46Speaker 2: Franklin's and the and the buck Eyes, the defending Natty champs.
- 2:51Speaker 2: But I want to make sure we talk about SC.
- 2:53Speaker 2: That program's a hot mess. Hard to talk about hard,
- 2:58Speaker 2: hard to not talk about that team. Uh, but everything
- 3:01Speaker 2: is going up. Man, Lincoln Riley's got a lot of
- 3:03Speaker 2: stuff in his face. It is. They have got major
- 3:07Speaker 2: debt problems. I want to talk about that a little bit.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Uh.
- 3:10Speaker 2: They've certainly got to be wondering, you know, A can
- 3:13Speaker 2: they continue to pay a coach of this for the
- 3:15Speaker 2: return they're getting? Uh? That is certainly going to provide
- 3:18Speaker 2: extra heat as well. There's a lot going on in USC.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Michigan is going to be an interesting team. I think
- 3:25Speaker 2: they're a year away. The fighting Kirk Signetti's will be interesting.
- 3:29Speaker 2: He has never not put a really really good football
- 3:32Speaker 2: team on the field. Gonna be interested to see what
- 3:34Speaker 2: he does at Indiana this year. They brought in a
- 3:37Speaker 2: lot of new faces that actually had some kids that
- 3:39Speaker 2: left come back, uh that left when he took over
- 3:43Speaker 2: that have now come back.
- 3:44Speaker 3: So that's that's fairly interesting.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Northwestern I want to talk about they may be one
- 3:49Speaker 2: of the surprise teams. And of course I think the
- 3:52Speaker 2: tight end you we have to always talk about. Of
- 3:54Speaker 2: course you mentioned Nebraska and some of those teams, so yeah,
- 3:57Speaker 2: I think we highlight them. But there's some interesting storylines
- 4:00Speaker 2: in the Big Ten. You know, so much is made
- 4:02Speaker 2: about what I think is who is top dog between
- 4:07Speaker 2: the SEC and the Big Ten, and I just think
- 4:09Speaker 2: they're different. I mean, I really do. I think they're
- 4:12Speaker 2: both great conferences. I've always felt this way. The Big
- 4:15Speaker 2: Ten's always played the physical brand of football. You look traditionally,
- 4:20Speaker 2: they've always played pretty well against them. Outside the national
- 4:23Speaker 2: title and bowl games and things like that, this has
- 4:27Speaker 2: always been a good league. SEC went on a great
- 4:29Speaker 2: run of Natty's you know, some of that, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 2: bumped the league a little bit. These have always been
- 4:35Speaker 2: the two best leagues. It's the reason they're as financially
- 4:39Speaker 2: sound as they are. In IL helps the Big Ten
- 4:41Speaker 2: because frankly, there's just so many students and the schools
- 4:44Speaker 2: are so big and there's so much money. It helps them.
- 4:48Speaker 2: There's no doubt that that has elevated them as a league.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I think it's going to continue until pay for play
- 4:54Speaker 2: stops and it becomes true in ILE. So I think
- 4:58Speaker 2: Big ten's fascinating. I do not like the tit's playing,
- 5:03Speaker 2: of trying to do automatic qualifiers and doing semi finals
- 5:07Speaker 2: and all of that. Man, let's make the regular season.
- 5:11Speaker 2: The regular season is what's made college football great. Go
- 5:14Speaker 2: back to the d M NFL if you want that.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I mean, I know his coaches can sing the dance,
- 5:21Speaker 2: and right now they're all, let's get to nine teams.
- 5:24Speaker 2: We're gonna cover all these schedules. I don't want to
- 5:26Speaker 2: hear jack shit about South Fistern Conference team playing eight games.
- 5:29Speaker 2: This Penn State schedule is a damn joke. The third
- 5:32Speaker 2: best team they play is Nebraska.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I mean, I mean.
- 5:39Speaker 2: That's a clown car. I mean Georgia and Alabama. And
- 5:44Speaker 2: people are like whatever, give me that Penn State schedule.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I don't want to hear jack about nine conference games.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Let's dive in. Let's start with Penn State. Penn State
- 5:53Speaker 1: and Texas are pretty much number one and two most
- 5:55Speaker 1: people told when you look at a good river of
- 5:57Speaker 1: the season, and it makes sense when you look at
- 5:59Speaker 1: this pitch State. They were closed last year. I mean
- 6:02Speaker 1: to get right there. They returned just about everybody. They
- 6:06Speaker 1: lose Abdil Carter to the NFL. He was a first
- 6:09Speaker 1: round draft pick. They lose Tyler Worthy, all everything, tied end,
- 6:12Speaker 1: running back, quarterback, wide receiver, slot receiver. Just give the
- 6:16Speaker 1: man a bucket and he'll carry the ball into the
- 6:18Speaker 1: end zone. They lose those two guys, big names. If
- 6:21Speaker 1: they bring back Drew Allers, they bring back Singleton, they
- 6:24Speaker 1: bring back the whole back field, most of the offensive line.
- 6:27Speaker 1: And when you start looking at this team from top
- 6:29Speaker 1: to bottom, there's not a lot of holes, and you
- 6:31Speaker 1: start wondering, okay, is this it is? This gonna be
- 6:34Speaker 1: a big game James's year. And it's funny to me
- 6:37Speaker 1: because for some reason, Penn State is so polarizing, and
- 6:41Speaker 1: I think I think James, I think Franklin gets it.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But then when he when he peeled the layer of
- 6:46Speaker 1: the onion back to me, It's like, I don't know
- 6:48Speaker 1: if Drew Aller is any good. And I say that
- 6:52Speaker 1: and I don't mean that like he can't play. I'm
- 6:54Speaker 1: just saying, can this guy elevate it to win the Natty?
- 6:58Speaker 1: I mean, this was a team that literally played in
- 7:00Speaker 1: a game last year and did not compete a pass
- 7:03Speaker 1: to a wide receiver in the entire game. And so
- 7:07Speaker 1: and they've got you know, this is the second year
- 7:09Speaker 1: any Kola Nikki being there as the offensive coordinator. And
- 7:12Speaker 1: then they made the biggest higher in the off season
- 7:14Speaker 1: as far as I'm concerned, which will bring Jim Knowles
- 7:17Speaker 1: over from Ohio State to Penn State. I think he's
- 7:19Speaker 1: the highest paid coordinator in the country. Man. I love
- 7:23Speaker 1: that guy and what he can do with the defense.
- 7:25Speaker 1: And so when you look at Penn State, when you
- 7:27Speaker 1: look at the schedule, the over under win total is
- 7:30Speaker 1: ten and a half. And when you look at their
- 7:32Speaker 1: odds to win the Big Ten, you know, I mean
- 7:35Speaker 1: they're the odds on favorite in that spot. I don't
- 7:38Speaker 1: know that there's much value in it because I hate
- 7:40Speaker 1: betting numbers that are this high, but youah, they're plus two. Actually,
- 7:43Speaker 1: Ohio State's jumped them. They're plus two forty to win
- 7:47Speaker 1: the Big Ten, and so I think they've got a
- 7:50Speaker 1: legitimate shot. This is a team that if they're not
- 7:52Speaker 1: a college football semi finalist, it's a complete failure in
- 7:56Speaker 1: my opinion.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Could could not agree more. This is if not now, when,
- 8:02Speaker 2: if it's not this year for James Franklin, getting those
- 8:05Speaker 2: two backs to both come back was a ganic deal.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I mean big deal. Look, I can't tell how much
- 8:13Speaker 2: I love asking Genty. I've talked people about it. Kids
- 8:16Speaker 2: from my hometown went to high school right down the road.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I've been watching that kid since he was a sophomore.
- 8:22Speaker 2: You know. So I can't say enough good things about it.
- 8:24Speaker 2: But I'm not sure that Singleton wouldn't have been the
- 8:26Speaker 2: first back taken had he come out. You know, Singleton's
- 8:31Speaker 2: really really good. And and then when you when you
- 8:34Speaker 2: back it up, you got Allen right behind him. You
- 8:36Speaker 2: got real players. I'll tell you the one thing I
- 8:38Speaker 2: really who who I really like on this football team
- 8:41Speaker 2: is Danny Dennis Sutton. He's another really good pass rusher
- 8:45Speaker 2: to create some havoc down there on that defensive line.
- 8:48Speaker 2: So I think Penn State's still going to get after
- 8:50Speaker 2: the quarterback a lot like they did last year. I
- 8:52Speaker 2: think he's a really good player, and you know, now
- 8:55Speaker 2: it's his time in the spotlight as a senior to
- 8:57Speaker 2: step forward, so you know, can he elevate his draft status?
- 9:01Speaker 2: And look, he played really well. I thought he played
- 9:05Speaker 2: as well as anybody in that Boise game. They were
- 9:09Speaker 2: many you talked about getting after it. His ass got
- 9:11Speaker 2: after it. I mean it was a I think this
- 9:15Speaker 2: is a really really good football team. I pretty much everybody,
- 9:20Speaker 2: every power ranking I've seen from gambling side has had
- 9:24Speaker 2: Ohio State, and Penn State is to most potent teams
- 9:27Speaker 2: in the country. Hard to argue that as well as
- 9:32Speaker 2: as well as Ohio State has done. I really will
- 9:36Speaker 2: get to them in a minute. I've got opinions about them,
- 9:38Speaker 2: but I think the schedules a little is a little tougher.
- 9:42Speaker 2: But the bottom line is they're probably a legit chance
- 9:45Speaker 2: to win the All because they've got Penn State coming
- 9:48Speaker 2: in there. This Penn State schedule, I mean road games
- 9:50Speaker 2: at UCLA, at Iowa, at Ohio State, at Michigan State,
- 9:54Speaker 2: and at Ruggers that's the that's their road games. They
- 9:57Speaker 2: get Nebraska, Indiana, nor Northwestern, and Oregon at home for
- 10:02Speaker 2: a white out. Their non con is Nevada, f I U,
- 10:07Speaker 2: and Villainova all at home. Man, if not, now, when brother,
- 10:12Speaker 2: if they look, they don't go ten, they don't win
- 10:14Speaker 2: ten games, and you got to decide to refire this guy.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, look, I think I was going
- 10:22Speaker 2: to be good. They should be good enough to win
- 10:25Speaker 2: that game. But that's not certainly not going to be
- 10:27Speaker 2: an easy game. Uh, Oregon at home. I ought to
- 10:30Speaker 2: win that in a white out. That's the bottom line.
- 10:32Speaker 2: They ought to win that ball game. At Ohio State,
- 10:35Speaker 2: I think they lose. They're getting Nebrasket home and they
- 10:38Speaker 2: get Indiana at home, so I think they went. I
- 10:40Speaker 2: don't think they lose at Michigan State, and I don't
- 10:42Speaker 2: think they lose at Rudgers. This team at worst should
- 10:46Speaker 2: be ten and two. At worst they go nine and three,
- 10:50Speaker 2: And I think you're firing this guy.
- 10:52Speaker 3: The candidly they will go eleven in one.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Yeah, twelve and oh, I mean.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Well they probably certainly that Ohio State game is gonna
- 11:02Speaker 2: be a dogfight. My question is Drew Aller and with
- 11:05Speaker 2: like you, I don't know if he's good enough to
- 11:06Speaker 2: get it done. Mark, I think we're on the same
- 11:08Speaker 2: page on that. You know, the the banning passing Academy
- 11:11Speaker 2: deal is a big deal to me, uh and everybody's
- 11:14Speaker 2: you know, I don't think enough people are talking about this,
- 11:17Speaker 2: you know, him skipping it two years in a row.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I mean, quarter You want a quarterback that's a peacock
- 11:23Speaker 2: who thinks he's the daddy, who thinks I'm the man,
- 11:26Speaker 2: and I want to go show everybody I'm the man,
- 11:28Speaker 2: especially a guy who didn't complete a pass in his
- 11:30Speaker 2: last game to a wide receiver. Get down there against
- 11:33Speaker 2: the best quarterbacks in the country and go show people
- 11:36Speaker 2: what you can do.
- 11:37Speaker 3: And instead he skips.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I just I don't think that's I don't think that's
- 11:42Speaker 2: a good sign for the kind of leader and player
- 11:46Speaker 2: of this guy is. Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe I'm thinking
- 11:48Speaker 2: too much about it. He's going to get a chance
- 11:50Speaker 2: to prove it, and he's going to need to go
- 11:52Speaker 2: prove it because at the end of the day, we
- 11:55Speaker 2: all have seen him not be able to do the
- 11:57Speaker 2: job to win games. They shot could have won that
- 12:01Speaker 2: football game, they were more I think they are more
- 12:04Speaker 2: talented team than the Notre Dame team that lost to him.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I mean that they lost to That's my honest opinion.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I agree with you. I completely agree with you when
- 12:12Speaker 1: I don't see any value at this point in laying
- 12:15Speaker 1: anything with this team. I haven't bet it. I think
- 12:17Speaker 1: they're gonna be there. I really do wonder, though, because
- 12:20Speaker 1: I think James he receies the points s GRIBs, and
- 12:23Speaker 1: he knows what they are, and he knows he's going
- 12:26Speaker 1: to be in the popularity contest at the end of
- 12:27Speaker 1: the season, especially if he's got a loss or two.
- 12:30Speaker 1: And so you remember a couple of years ago, you
- 12:32Speaker 1: and I picked up on the nugget that they tempered
- 12:34Speaker 1: the second half of like six games in a row,
- 12:36Speaker 1: like just came out and just hammered people. I kind
- 12:39Speaker 1: of wonder if there's not gonna be some of that
- 12:40Speaker 1: this year, because you're gonna get a lot of roster
- 12:43Speaker 1: play from these guys, and you know what's he gonna
- 12:45Speaker 1: call up the dogs if he's gonna do it. So
- 12:47Speaker 1: I'll be interested to watch that as it goes, because
- 12:50Speaker 1: I think the defense could be better this year under
- 12:52Speaker 1: Jim Knowles. I think the guy. I mean I saw
- 12:55Speaker 1: it last year with him at Ohio State when he
- 12:56Speaker 1: changed the defense and how he used Caleb Downs. That's
- 13:00Speaker 1: that's what I was like, Damn, this guy's good because
- 13:03Speaker 1: he saw it and he knew how He's like, I've
- 13:04Speaker 1: got talent. I gotta go on the field, and I
- 13:06Speaker 1: think he's gonna be able to do the same thing here.
- 13:07Speaker 1: And they're loaded, man.
- 13:08Speaker 2: But let's shift over with and look the key Whitley's
- 13:12Speaker 2: a really good safety back there for him. You know, big,
- 13:15Speaker 2: a big kid, you know, six to two hundred pounds.
- 13:17Speaker 2: You got a kid who can play that kind of
- 13:19Speaker 2: that same role of what he was doing with Down.
- 13:22Speaker 2: So it's gonna be You're right, it's gonna be very
- 13:24Speaker 2: interesting to see what see what he could do.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Let's shift over to Ohio State. They finally won the
- 13:29Speaker 1: national championship, and they still can't figure out how to
- 13:32Speaker 1: beat Michigan. They didn't even win the conference last year.
- 13:35Speaker 1: But here they are national champions and it's like they
- 13:38Speaker 1: got to the last couple of weeks of the season
- 13:40Speaker 1: or they really playoffs, and they got that week to
- 13:42Speaker 1: get right and they just hammered down and they took
- 13:44Speaker 1: that roster that we went into last August and No.
- 13:47Speaker 1: One was probably the best roster of the country, and
- 13:50Speaker 1: they made it come together. And then what you see
- 13:52Speaker 1: on draft day is, I don't know, fifteen seventeen kids
- 13:56Speaker 1: get drafted. You know, talent all over the place. Were
- 14:00Speaker 1: this Ohio state team in this program right now really
- 14:02Speaker 1: reminds me of Georgia a couple of years ago, where
- 14:05Speaker 1: you had a lot of talent and leadership lead and
- 14:08Speaker 1: you kind of wondered where they're going to be able
- 14:10Speaker 1: to continue and move on from there. You know, you
- 14:12Speaker 1: look at downs in the defense. I listened to him
- 14:15Speaker 1: talk at media days and he was like, you know,
- 14:17Speaker 1: we won the Natty and he was like, a week
- 14:18Speaker 1: after that, people started talking about how much we were
- 14:20Speaker 1: going to lose, and he was like, we were back
- 14:23Speaker 1: at it that day and he was like, you know,
- 14:26Speaker 1: we're here, We're ready to play. And Julian Sayan's an
- 14:29Speaker 1: interesting player coming in. He's you know, kich Carlsbyn California.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I watched him play high school ball only because one
- 14:35Speaker 1: of my good buddies, his sons, was his wide receiver
- 14:38Speaker 1: out there. And you know, let's not forget this kid
- 14:40Speaker 1: was the number one quarterback in the country in this class,
- 14:43Speaker 1: and he was going to Alabama and tail Nick Saban
- 14:46Speaker 1: retired and now here he is at Ohio State. But
- 14:49Speaker 1: the things that are interesting to me is that the
- 14:51Speaker 1: coaching changes. Brian Hartline's taking over at the offensive coordinator position,
- 14:56Speaker 1: which they've kind of wanted that for a while, taking
- 14:59Speaker 1: Chip Kelly place. They say he's gonna run Kelly's style
- 15:03Speaker 1: of offense. Great, But then Matt Patricia taking over to
- 15:06Speaker 1: the defense as a real head scratcher to me, and
- 15:10Speaker 1: I think, you know, and we started we've seen this
- 15:12Speaker 1: with the evolution of programs. Is when you get so
- 15:14Speaker 1: high up the mountain, you start losing your coordinators, right,
- 15:17Speaker 1: and you start losing not just coordinators, but coaches along
- 15:20Speaker 1: with that. And so this is when you really find
- 15:22Speaker 1: out what leadership is at the head coaching position is
- 15:25Speaker 1: can they sustain that high level of play after you're
- 15:29Speaker 1: losing coaches, after you're having to retread rosters through. And
- 15:32Speaker 1: I'll say one thing about Ohio State and the reason
- 15:34Speaker 1: it's a program that you know you like so much
- 15:37Speaker 1: as they do a hold the job of high school
- 15:39Speaker 1: recruiting and player development up there. And you've got guys
- 15:41Speaker 1: that have been on this roster for several years coming
- 15:44Speaker 1: in and so they are the number two team in
- 15:47Speaker 1: this conference, and I think they deserve to be that
- 15:49Speaker 1: and I'm fascinated. So they do. I mean, they open
- 15:51Speaker 1: up week one at Texas or excuse me, hosting Texas.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Kudos to them for scheduling a hard game, and then
- 15:58Speaker 1: you know, they go to Washington a couple of weeks later.
- 16:01Speaker 1: In the schedules, it's it's a mid schedule for them,
- 16:04Speaker 1: but it's very manageable. But this is I'm fascinated to
- 16:07Speaker 1: se Ohio State. I still think this is a ten
- 16:09Speaker 1: one team.
- 16:10Speaker 2: I think this is a really good football team. Interested
- 16:12Speaker 2: to see what the fighting Burt Beilamas can do when
- 16:16Speaker 2: they get on October eleventh, that's gonna be that's gonna
- 16:20Speaker 2: be a fascinating, fascinating check the buck guy's four game
- 16:24Speaker 2: stretch there. Now, they got the bookend in off weeks
- 16:27Speaker 2: on this deal. So again, don't talk to me about schedules.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Big ten. Their bookend in at Washington, Minnesota, at home
- 16:35Speaker 2: at Illinois at Wisconsin. That's that's a pretty tough that's
- 16:37Speaker 2: pretty tough sled. And then they're off week and they
- 16:39Speaker 2: host Penn State. That's that's a tough, tough sled, I
- 16:43Speaker 2: think because I think Illinois is probably the most experienced
- 16:46Speaker 2: team in the country coming back. They got a lot
- 16:48Speaker 2: of people back from what was a good football team
- 16:50Speaker 2: last year. I mean that was a verge of a
- 16:52Speaker 2: of a playoff team. I mean they were a very
- 16:57Speaker 2: very good football team, just not explode on offense, but
- 17:01Speaker 2: played great defense. Expect them to do the exact same thing.
- 17:04Speaker 2: So this this schedule, Look, Ohio State's gonna be more
- 17:07Speaker 2: talented than everybody they play, that's the bottom line. Or
- 17:10Speaker 2: as talented then State. Maybe they're the same, but they're
- 17:13Speaker 2: more talented than everybody else. That should equate to eleven
- 17:16Speaker 2: and one. Ryan Day has found a way to lose
- 17:18Speaker 2: a game that he shouldn't lose every year. Is that
- 17:21Speaker 2: gonna be at Michigan again? Uh, we will see. Is
- 17:24Speaker 2: it gonna be at Illinois? Is it at Washington? Because
- 17:27Speaker 2: I think all of three of those games are our
- 17:29Speaker 2: potential losses. They're gonna have to not play well. You
- 17:33Speaker 2: got a freshman quarterback going on the road. That that
- 17:36Speaker 2: gets tough. I mean, Washington is a loud place to play, and.
- 17:41Speaker 1: If you're loud. I have it, but.
- 17:44Speaker 2: It's been a long time ago. But the but it's
- 17:49Speaker 2: very very loucoustics in there, just pump that noise to
- 17:53Speaker 2: the field. You know, Illinois, I told you, I think
- 17:56Speaker 2: it's going to be better than Michigan's Michigan. You know
- 17:58Speaker 2: that's Michigan. Ohis Michigan know how to state one of
- 18:00Speaker 2: the greatest rivalries in football. So it's gonna be a
- 18:03Speaker 2: fascinating season. What can they do without the guys because
- 18:06Speaker 2: the bottom line is Patricia is not going to do
- 18:08Speaker 2: as well of a job as good of a job
- 18:10Speaker 2: as Knowles did. I just don't see that. And if
- 18:13Speaker 2: Patricia doesn't learn to communicate with this generation of kids,
- 18:17Speaker 2: they may lose four or five games and they have
- 18:19Speaker 2: to fire him mid season because he goes to cussing
- 18:22Speaker 2: and treating guys the way he did at Troy, and
- 18:24Speaker 2: there he will have a revolt on his hands. So
- 18:29Speaker 2: this this Saint Bill Belichick, brother, and you ain't Bill Belichick.
- 18:32Speaker 2: You got to handle these kids different because they can
- 18:34Speaker 2: hit the portal. So it's gonna be fascinating to see
- 18:37Speaker 2: how that goes. This is an experiment with Patrician and
- 18:40Speaker 2: he's trying to rehab himself after failing miserably with the
- 18:44Speaker 2: with the Lions. So gonna be gonna be fascinating to
- 18:47Speaker 2: watch this football team, young but super talented, and where
- 18:51Speaker 2: do they end up? How do they how do they
- 18:53Speaker 2: do defending that national title? Yeah?
- 18:56Speaker 1: I would agree when you look at the third and
- 18:59Speaker 1: fourteen in the conference, I'm somewhere between. This is where
- 19:02Speaker 1: I go West Coast baby, and I was high on
- 19:05Speaker 1: them when we did our preview in June talking about
- 19:07Speaker 1: who's gonna win the Natty are long shots to win it.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I like Oregon a lot this season. I know they've
- 19:13Speaker 1: got a lot of pieces coming back. I love Dante Moore,
- 19:17Speaker 1: like quarterback situation, you know, finally gonna get you know,
- 19:20Speaker 1: he's been under this, been in the program. Now, got
- 19:23Speaker 1: to see Dylan Gabriel operated last year. I like Landing.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I like what the rosters bringing back in this spot.
- 19:29Speaker 1: The only thing I don't like about Oregon when you
- 19:31Speaker 1: start to break it down is their schedule. They travel
- 19:34Speaker 1: across the country two time zones and three time zones
- 19:38Speaker 1: four different times. They have road trips at Northwestern, at
- 19:42Speaker 1: Penn State, at Rutgerson, at Iowa, and I realize those aren't,
- 19:46Speaker 1: you know, other than at Penn State, the heavy hitters,
- 19:49Speaker 1: but that's a that's a lot of them travel when
- 19:51Speaker 1: you're trying to get your team right and get your
- 19:53Speaker 1: head on straight. And the thing is when they play
- 19:55Speaker 1: Penn State, that's the tail end of a five game stretch.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Then they have to go to Penn State. And so
- 20:00Speaker 1: I don't know what the line is. I haven't looked
- 20:02Speaker 1: at the game as the year lines yet, but I'll
- 20:04Speaker 1: tend to lean on an under in that one, and
- 20:06Speaker 1: probably a first half under if I had to guess,
- 20:08Speaker 1: because you know, having to travel five five games in
- 20:11Speaker 1: a row. Because now everybody has two buys us two,
- 20:13Speaker 1: we were always looking for that six, seven, eighth game
- 20:15Speaker 1: in a row. That doesn't happen very often now because
- 20:17Speaker 1: you've got two buys in the schedule. But when I
- 20:19Speaker 1: look at this Oregon schedule, that Penn State game was
- 20:21Speaker 1: a circle for me because it's going to be a
- 20:23Speaker 1: huge one for Penn State and for Oregon. It's gonna
- 20:26Speaker 1: be like, all right, well we got you know, it
- 20:27Speaker 1: was our first big road game. We're gonna have to
- 20:29Speaker 1: get done. But I like this Oregon team a lot.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I've got them slated right around a nine to win team.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I'm fascinated to see when they have to come off
- 20:37Speaker 1: that buy and get Andy Anda to come up there
- 20:39Speaker 1: with Signetti and you know, and they got the new quarterback,
- 20:42Speaker 1: Bernando Mendoza coming from Cattle. I think it's gonna be
- 20:45Speaker 1: a lot of fun. But I like this Oregon team
- 20:47Speaker 1: a lot. I think they're gonna make the playoffs again
- 20:49Speaker 1: this season and have a shot to play for the
- 20:52Speaker 1: Big Ten championship if the line's upright.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Yeah, Look, this team is a good team. Lanning's doing
- 20:57Speaker 2: a great job. Hard hard to argue that.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Uh.
- 21:01Speaker 2: They They're gonna be really good at the line. I
- 21:03Speaker 2: think their offensive line is outstanding, and I think that's
- 21:06Speaker 2: what's got a chance to really make Dante More a
- 21:09Speaker 2: good quarterback. Even though I don't think they're gonna get
- 21:11Speaker 2: the same level of quarterback play that they've gotten the
- 21:13Speaker 2: last two years. They take a step back there, but
- 21:16Speaker 2: I expect that offensive line to be, if not the
- 21:18Speaker 2: best in the Big Ten, certainly one of the best.
- 21:20Speaker 2: It's gonna be really good. I think their defensive line
- 21:23Speaker 2: is going to be pretty good. Bear Alexander coming over
- 21:25Speaker 2: from Georgia, reuniting, paying off for nine hundred years and
- 21:34Speaker 2: after the failed experiment at USC shows up and shows
- 21:39Speaker 2: up in Oregon unglea lele uh is the end up there.
- 21:43Speaker 2: They've got they got some guys with some talent. They
- 21:45Speaker 2: bring in Jaden Kennedy over from Ole miss Uh. So
- 21:49Speaker 2: they've got that. They've got some guys with some talent.
- 21:52Speaker 2: So I'm with you, this is gonna be this is
- 21:54Speaker 2: gonna be an interesting team. I think they're gonna lose
- 21:57Speaker 2: some games they shouldn't. That is the that's my opinion.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I'm gonna give you trap game. They got Trap Game City,
- 22:05Speaker 2: Week three, Trap Game City, first Big Ten game on
- 22:10Speaker 2: the road at Northwestern. It's gonna be the most improved
- 22:12Speaker 2: team in the Big Ten. That's not going to be close.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I think this team's got a chance to be pretty good.
- 22:18Speaker 2: You got the Ducks have got Oklahoma State at home,
- 22:21Speaker 2: they go at Northwestern, Oregon State at home at Penn State.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Are you telling me they're remotely gonna go to Chicago
- 22:30Speaker 2: and be ready to play against Northwestern, who was not
- 22:34Speaker 2: very good last year.
- 22:35Speaker 3: And I think they're not.
- 22:36Speaker 1: The high school field it's exactly twelve feet from Lake, Michigan.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's because they're still I think there's still a
- 22:42Speaker 2: year away from being in their new stadium. So yeah,
- 22:46Speaker 2: so it's so it is going to be extremely interesting
- 22:50Speaker 2: to see what this team can do, you know, see
- 22:54Speaker 2: what they see what they can do that week, that
- 22:57Speaker 2: early look, I think they I think they dispatch Oregon
- 23:00Speaker 2: pretty easily. That Oklahoma State game, I think they're gonna
- 23:02Speaker 2: win pretty easily, but it's still something nine time. You
- 23:05Speaker 2: got to go up and then you got Penn State,
- 23:08Speaker 2: So that's an interesting stretch. Then off week Indiana, Rutgers
- 23:12Speaker 2: in Wisconsin. So I mean, man, they get into the
- 23:16Speaker 2: meat of this schedule, and I mean you look at
- 23:18Speaker 2: the Ducks and you're talking about at this point at
- 23:21Speaker 2: Penn State, I mean, they got a shot if they
- 23:24Speaker 2: overlook Northwestern to lose that that's the only reason. Then
- 23:28Speaker 2: they're at Iowa after that Penn State game. That's probably
- 23:31Speaker 2: the only team who's really got a chance to beat them,
- 23:36Speaker 2: and I don't think they will at Iowa. Then their
- 23:39Speaker 2: Minnesota USC at home, then they're at Washington. I think
- 23:42Speaker 2: Washington will have a shot in that ball game. At
- 23:44Speaker 2: the end of the year. I agree with you this
- 23:46Speaker 2: team should not be any worse than nine and three
- 23:48Speaker 2: their potential playoff team. They could go ten and two,
- 23:51Speaker 2: eleven and one and it wouldn't surprise me.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you on this one bit. Like I said,
- 23:57Speaker 1: their schedule is not easy. It really is not. It's
- 24:00Speaker 1: not at Northwestern. You think those brothers are gonna roll up, coach, Man,
- 24:04Speaker 1: what time we get to go on the field. Well,
- 24:06Speaker 1: we're gonna get off this practice field. I mean, that's
- 24:08Speaker 1: we're playing today. Coach, there's a lake behind that, coach, Yeah, yeah, son,
- 24:13Speaker 1: Just don't focus on the lake. Let's focus on the field.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Let's get going.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Let's just play. There'll be eight people there, but let's
- 24:19Speaker 2: play too bad.
- 24:21Speaker 1: It's early in September, and it's not like a December
- 24:24Speaker 1: game when the wind would be blowing like one hundred
- 24:27Speaker 1: miles an hour off lake. Just the total equalizer. I mean,
- 24:32Speaker 1: I kind of want to go up for a game
- 24:33Speaker 1: this year just to see this thing. It looks sounds awesome.
- 24:36Speaker 4: But all right, let's go to usc usc This is
- 24:40Speaker 4: probably the team that there's the most widest range of
- 24:43Speaker 4: opinions on what they're gonna be, who they're gonna be.
- 24:47Speaker 1: So on and so forth. You know, last year we
- 24:49Speaker 1: saw USC open the season beating LSU in Las Vegas, uh,
- 24:54Speaker 1: and then kind of stumbled through the season. They had
- 24:57Speaker 1: some highs and lows come out of this.
- 24:59Speaker 2: In hear.
- 25:00Speaker 1: The one thing that I thought was interesting was is that,
- 25:02Speaker 1: you know, they stuck with the quarterback. So I think
- 25:04Speaker 1: Lincoln Riley knows he's got somebody with Jordaniava there and
- 25:09Speaker 1: I like that, you know, And so the roster is good.
- 25:12Speaker 1: I mean, they've got some talent here, and this is
- 25:14Speaker 1: probably the best roster he's had since he's got to USC.
- 25:17Speaker 1: He's got a grown up coaching his defense now, which
- 25:20Speaker 1: has made it better since he's come into play. But
- 25:23Speaker 1: when you set up the schedule again, this is another
- 25:25Speaker 1: one of those West Coast teams that have to swing
- 25:27Speaker 1: across the country four times. One of those games that
- 25:30Speaker 1: produced don't account But at Illinois, that'll be a tough one.
- 25:34Speaker 1: That's five weeks into the season. You're gonna go have
- 25:36Speaker 1: to go play Illinois. USC does not look at Illinois
- 25:40Speaker 1: as somebody to get fired up about it. Not when
- 25:41Speaker 1: you have an off weekend, you got Michigan and Notre
- 25:43Speaker 1: Dame following them up. And so that would be my
- 25:46Speaker 1: trap spot that you're talking about in their schedule. But
- 25:49Speaker 1: for the most part, it's pretty manageable through this. But
- 25:51Speaker 1: I agree this this is the shitter. Get off the
- 25:53Speaker 1: pip and you're with Lincoln Riley, and I really think
- 25:56Speaker 1: that if this team doesn't win nine games, you've got
- 25:58Speaker 1: to kind of start figuring out do we have the
- 26:01Speaker 1: right guy to run this organization, because there's been some
- 26:05Speaker 1: bad scenes that they put out there. And last year
- 26:07Speaker 1: I was high on these guys, and I told you
- 26:09Speaker 1: coming into the Michigan game, I thought they win that.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I thought they could win the Notre Dame game. They
- 26:13Speaker 1: were real close in both those games. So this team
- 26:16Speaker 1: is not a star away as we may think. I
- 26:18Speaker 1: like USC a lot this year. This is my dark
- 26:20Speaker 1: horse team. I got a piece of money on them
- 26:23Speaker 1: to win the Big Ten.
- 26:26Speaker 2: I will tell you. Look, I liked their quarterback and
- 26:28Speaker 2: I think he's an athletic player. Man, I just I
- 26:30Speaker 2: cannot figure out how they can't get a legit running back.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I mean, I know we talked about this earlier on
- 26:38Speaker 2: a podcast about man this is the home of Juice
- 26:41Speaker 2: and Reggie Bush. I mean, at Marcus Allen I mean,
- 26:47Speaker 2: some of the great backs in the history of the
- 26:50Speaker 2: game have put this helme and on. They've had a
- 26:52Speaker 2: transfer from Mississippi State, and now they're about to roll
- 26:55Speaker 2: out a transfer from New Mexico State. Right, really we
- 27:01Speaker 2: think needs to be going on at USC. Man, I
- 27:06Speaker 2: just can't figure it out. I mean I really can't.
- 27:09Speaker 2: They got a cornerback, a starting cornerback from Mississippi State.
- 27:13Speaker 2: You look down this roster and I'm just like, really,
- 27:17Speaker 2: I'm like this, this is what we're down to. I
- 27:21Speaker 2: just I'm not buying the hype of this team. I look,
- 27:25Speaker 2: I think Riley is still very creative and smart, offensive mind,
- 27:31Speaker 2: but I think with every he is facing a lot
- 27:34Speaker 2: of headwinds. Man, They've got there are two hundred million
- 27:36Speaker 2: in debt. I mean, this university is a mess. They
- 27:39Speaker 2: have made some terrible decisions, They've had lawsuits, they've had
- 27:42Speaker 2: to pay out, They've got all kinds of things facing them.
- 27:45Speaker 2: And then they're paying this guy, what eleven twelve million,
- 27:48Speaker 2: I mean it's double digit millions. I mean, he's making
- 27:51Speaker 2: huge money and here's here's an athletic department just hemorrhaging money.
- 27:58Speaker 2: And you know, I think they're still I think they've
- 28:00Speaker 2: stepped forward to try to do some things in the NL,
- 28:03Speaker 2: but they're still way behind where a lot of these
- 28:06Speaker 2: teams are. I mean, they're certainly not on the level
- 28:08Speaker 2: of Ohio State, Oregon, you know, Texas, the teams that
- 28:11Speaker 2: I think the fan base expects them to compete against,
- 28:14Speaker 2: and Hell, I don't know if they're in Al's on
- 28:16Speaker 2: the level of Mississippi States. I'll be honest. They are
- 28:20Speaker 2: not doing a really good job off the field, and
- 28:25Speaker 2: I think that's making it extremely difficult for him on
- 28:28Speaker 2: the field. So I think there's a lot of headwinds
- 28:30Speaker 2: with this program. I don't think this team's quite good
- 28:34Speaker 2: enough to take the step, but maybe I'm wrong. I
- 28:38Speaker 2: just think there's too many good teams in front of them.
- 28:40Speaker 2: I think if somebody's gonna bounce from this midpack, I'd
- 28:44Speaker 2: like Washington to jump up more than these guys, because
- 28:47Speaker 2: I really love the quarterback play they've got. Like the
- 28:49Speaker 2: Huskies think they got a chance to be good. Their
- 28:52Speaker 2: offensive defensive lines jail, but they've got some talent those
- 28:56Speaker 2: two jail, and they got a chance to be good.
- 28:58Speaker 2: So I like, I love their skilled guys, you know,
- 29:01Speaker 2: so I think that's a team that's got a chance
- 29:03Speaker 2: to jump ups. As we talk about these about these teams, hence,
- 29:07Speaker 2: you know, USC does that they get. I mean we're
- 29:11Speaker 2: talking about road games. They're they're at Purdue, at Illinois,
- 29:15Speaker 2: at Notre Dame, at Nebraska, at Oregon. They could lose
- 29:18Speaker 2: every one of those games. They may be a dog,
- 29:21Speaker 2: you know. And they get Northwestern home, iwould home Michigan
- 29:25Speaker 2: and home Michigan State at home, and and and and
- 29:29Speaker 2: how about this, let's not skip this game on the USC.
- 29:31Speaker 2: How about the fighting Clay Hilton's coming back? Baby? Can
- 29:35Speaker 2: you imagine if they win that game? Can you imagine
- 29:39Speaker 2: if he wins that game? I mean, USC fans will
- 29:43Speaker 2: just implode. I mean it's just literally they just may
- 29:45Speaker 2: blow up the whole stadium and just say, let's just
- 29:47Speaker 2: start over. Let's just let's go Northwestern style, Let's build
- 29:51Speaker 2: a whole new stadium. Let's just start over. Coliseum clearly
- 29:54Speaker 2: is is echoes of the past.
- 29:56Speaker 3: We can't get it done.
- 29:58Speaker 2: I mean that is just well, I don't think they've
- 30:00Speaker 2: got a chance to lose that game, but can you
- 30:02Speaker 2: imagine if they did? How funny that be?
- 30:05Speaker 1: So I.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Do like what I do like Washington. I think they're
- 30:10Speaker 2: a team that can jump up. I like the Hawk
- 30:11Speaker 2: Eyes too. I think I think i was going to
- 30:13Speaker 2: be pretty good. People downplay because you know they're not
- 30:17Speaker 2: out there running the spread. That Iowa offense was a
- 30:20Speaker 2: lot better last year. I mean it was a lot better,
- 30:23Speaker 2: and that defense was still Iowa defense. I think they're
- 30:26Speaker 2: going to be I think this is a team that's
- 30:27Speaker 2: got a chance to be to be pretty darn good,
- 30:30Speaker 2: and so I'm interested with them. You know, you look
- 30:34Speaker 2: at their road games and they're more wunnable than a
- 30:37Speaker 2: lot of these teams at Nebraska, at USC, at Wisconsin,
- 30:41Speaker 2: and at Ruggers. They only get four in this nine
- 30:44Speaker 2: conference bill. Now they also play at Iowa State to
- 30:48Speaker 2: start the year. But you got to like that schedule.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Gotta like that chance.
- 30:52Speaker 2: They got Indiana, Penn State, Minnesota, Oregon, and Michigan State
- 30:55Speaker 2: all coming into Iowa City. So kind of like this
- 30:59Speaker 2: schedule for I will do. I think they're a playoff team.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Probably not, but of the teams that are, I'm thinking
- 31:05Speaker 2: middle of the pack. I think the Iowa Washington Huskies
- 31:09Speaker 2: are more likely to jump up and take that next
- 31:13Speaker 2: step to surprise some people, if you made me, made
- 31:17Speaker 2: me pick another team from the Big Ten, I also
- 31:21Speaker 2: want to say this. I also and look, we skipped
- 31:23Speaker 2: over Illinois. I think they're a playoffs. I think they
- 31:26Speaker 2: have a legitimate chance to make the playoff.
- 31:28Speaker 3: I think they have.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I think that is going to be exactly the same
- 31:32Speaker 2: football team that you saw last year, and they were
- 31:35Speaker 2: not far from a playoff team last year. With the
- 31:38Speaker 2: Big Ten winning back to back Natties their performance in
- 31:41Speaker 2: the playoff, I think teams on that fringe are going
- 31:44Speaker 2: to get a lot more look at the playoff based
- 31:48Speaker 2: on how the Big Ten has done the last two years,
- 31:51Speaker 2: and so a team like a team like Illinois, who
- 31:54Speaker 2: was behind all three of those bubble teams from the SEC,
- 31:57Speaker 2: made bump ahead of those teams this year. If they've
- 32:00Speaker 2: got the same record, and I like this schedule, I
- 32:03Speaker 2: think they've got a chance to do it. They're Western
- 32:05Speaker 2: Illinois at Duke, Western Michigan at Indiana's their first tough game,
- 32:10Speaker 2: and that'll be a barn burner. They get USC at home,
- 32:12Speaker 2: They're at Purdue, then they bring in Ohio State at Washington,
- 32:16Speaker 2: tough game. I think that is going to be the
- 32:18Speaker 2: game that kicks them out of it. If they don't
- 32:21Speaker 2: make the playoff, that is the game that kicks them
- 32:23Speaker 2: out Maryland at Wisconsin and Northwestern. I think this team
- 32:27Speaker 2: has got a chance to finish really, really strong, and
- 32:32Speaker 2: that matters in polling. Keep winning games and you bounce forward.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I think Illinoi's got a chance. They're a top twenty team.
- 32:41Speaker 2: And if you're a top twenty team, all that takes
- 32:43Speaker 2: is winning one game you shouldn't and you got in
- 32:46Speaker 2: your playoff team.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Yeah no, I agree with you. I like this Illinois
- 32:50Speaker 1: team a lot. I kind of slept on it last year.
- 32:53Speaker 1: I know, we joke about Bert. He's still a hell
- 32:55Speaker 1: of the job. And I loved the Bowl game. I
- 32:59Speaker 1: loved in the Bowl game when he was mocking Bieber
- 33:02Speaker 1: and Bieber's head just exploded. I was like, bro, you can't.
- 33:06Speaker 1: I mean, Burt stood around a while. Man, It's like,
- 33:09Speaker 1: and you know, Burt's got some game because Birt's wife
- 33:12Speaker 1: is smoked, right, and we've all seen how bad his
- 33:15Speaker 1: ass is and he's still rolling smoke, you know. I mean, still,
- 33:19Speaker 1: my favorite Burt story is the story when he's you know,
- 33:22Speaker 1: you could tell it. It's when he was the head
- 33:24Speaker 1: coach at Arkansas, and Pittman's got all the recruits lines
- 33:27Speaker 1: to come in, go ahead and tell it in Vegas.
- 33:31Speaker 2: He comes in and and and Bert as Pittman's already
- 33:35Speaker 2: told him who Pitman used to be his offensive line
- 33:38Speaker 2: coach at Arkansas for people that don't know this, and
- 33:41Speaker 2: this made him leave and go to Georgia, like literally,
- 33:44Speaker 2: he resigned after this. And and these two stud Linemanyske
- 33:48Speaker 2: both signed with Georgia, so that we're on this trip.
- 33:52Speaker 3: So he's he comes in.
- 33:53Speaker 2: He tells me, hey, I got these guys coming in
- 33:56Speaker 2: you know, Thursday, which want to schedule.
- 33:58Speaker 3: So I want to schedule some time. Oh yeah, great,
- 34:00Speaker 3: you know.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Blah blah blah blah blah blah. He goes into the
- 34:04Speaker 2: office and the secretary is like coaching here. It's like,
- 34:07Speaker 2: what do he means not here? I talked to him
- 34:08Speaker 2: like two days ago, telling him these guys are going
- 34:11Speaker 2: to be here and that we wanted to meet with him.
- 34:13Speaker 2: He's like, well, he's not here. So he calls Bilma,
- 34:17Speaker 2: and Bilma's hammered in Vegas. He's not even in town.
- 34:21Speaker 2: He's in Vegas. He's totally he's totally forgotten that these
- 34:26Speaker 2: guys are in at these guiterans. Ah forgot they were coming.
- 34:31Speaker 2: That's when went to Georgia. That is so fabulous. It
- 34:36Speaker 2: is hard for me to say how funny that is,
- 34:39Speaker 2: just blowing it off. If you want to know why
- 34:41Speaker 2: it didn't work at Arkansas, well that's kind of why
- 34:43Speaker 2: it didn't work at Arkansas. There was a lot of
- 34:45Speaker 2: things off the off the radar.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Maybe we were loosely managed. Just we'll just leave it
- 34:51Speaker 1: at that. Loosely bads. Oh man. Let's say about Michigan
- 34:54Speaker 1: for a second. This is I was impressed with what
- 34:58Speaker 1: Strown Moore did. I really thought we lost our ball.
- 35:02Speaker 1: This guy's going to be a one year stop gap
- 35:04Speaker 1: maybe two, does what he needs to do, and then
- 35:08Speaker 1: ends up getting the number one quarterback in the country
- 35:11Speaker 1: in Bryce Underwood to commit to him, after flipping him
- 35:14Speaker 1: from LSU, after having to call Larry Ellison, and after
- 35:18Speaker 1: called Dave Portnoy so they could get a bag, and
- 35:20Speaker 1: that's how they end up getting Underfood to come to Michigan.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Everything I'm reading from reports is he's taken the number
- 35:27Speaker 1: one snaps and so that was last year. The offense
- 35:31Speaker 1: and the quarterback play at Michigan could not have been worse.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I mean, when you rolled Alex Orgy out there, who
- 35:37Speaker 1: completed less than fifty percent of his passes in high school,
- 35:41Speaker 1: you knew you were kind of limited. And the fact
- 35:44Speaker 1: that this team was able to cobble some things together
- 35:47Speaker 1: go out win their last three games, Northwestern beat Ohio
- 35:50Speaker 1: State again and then beat Alabama in the bowl game.
- 35:54Speaker 1: And I know Obama probably wasn't dialed in for this game,
- 35:57Speaker 1: but it was a big win for Michigan to get there.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I like this Michigan team, and I think their schedule
- 36:03Speaker 1: sets up to be super manageable. I am excited as
- 36:06Speaker 1: hell for Week two when they travel down to Norman,
- 36:09Speaker 1: because I think you're going to find out week two
- 36:12Speaker 1: which of these teams is good, and because I think
- 36:15Speaker 1: they both have strong rosters. I have them both kind
- 36:18Speaker 1: of power rank within two or three slots of each other,
- 36:21Speaker 1: and I think we're going to walk away from that
- 36:22Speaker 1: game going on. One of these teams can play, and
- 36:25Speaker 1: the way that their schedule sets up is manageable. They
- 36:27Speaker 1: got to go back out to California in the middle
- 36:29Speaker 1: of season to play at Sea. They've got a five
- 36:32Speaker 1: game stretch but there's two teams in there at FC
- 36:35Speaker 1: and Washington comes there that are manageable, and then they
- 36:37Speaker 1: don't really and they've got at Norquestern at Maryland, and
- 36:40Speaker 1: in Ohio State to finish the season. This schedule is
- 36:43Speaker 1: extremely manageable, if this team's got any mustard. And so
- 36:47Speaker 1: what are your thoughts there? I mean, this is a
- 36:48Speaker 1: team I'm kind of lean into an over on and
- 36:50Speaker 1: I hate vetting overs and so I'm kind of lean
- 36:53Speaker 1: into an over with these guys.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Huh. You know, I think that Oklahoma game is so
- 36:58Speaker 2: jiganic for both these coaches that it's hard to say.
- 37:03Speaker 2: More is the signing of the quarterback, especially him playing. Look,
- 37:09Speaker 2: we're gonna get some mistakes. It's gonna be a lot
- 37:11Speaker 2: like It's gonna be a lot like Ohio State. I
- 37:15Speaker 2: think we're gonna get some mistakes from the quarterback. But
- 37:18Speaker 2: they're super talented kids. They're gonna make some They're gonna
- 37:21Speaker 2: make some plays too, just because they're talented.
- 37:24Speaker 3: That is what I think holds this team back. But
- 37:26Speaker 3: I agree with you. A schedule, schedule is manageable.
- 37:30Speaker 2: I mean, when you have old games, didn't have a
- 37:33Speaker 2: winning record in your three of them didn't have a
- 37:35Speaker 2: winning record in your league. That's pretty good. You know,
- 37:38Speaker 2: that's that's a pretty good deal. You'll take that. And
- 37:41Speaker 2: you know, yes you get Ohio State, Yes you got Washington,
- 37:43Speaker 2: but you get both of those guys at home. You're
- 37:46Speaker 2: at Nebraska and you're at USC really the only two.
- 37:49Speaker 2: The difficulty is you got five road games just the
- 37:52Speaker 2: way the schedule falls this year. That Oklahoma game is
- 37:55Speaker 2: a huge game because that that. I still got a
- 37:58Speaker 2: lot of questions about Oklahoma, and I think they could
- 38:01Speaker 2: be good. You know, material didn't look I mean, look,
- 38:05Speaker 2: this same guy that looked awful against Wyoming, So how's
- 38:08Speaker 2: he gonna look against this team? You know that it's
- 38:10Speaker 2: not a guarantee that he's gonna be great. I know
- 38:13Speaker 2: everybody loved him at the Manning Passing Academy. That's also
- 38:16Speaker 2: shorts and T shirts. Let's find out what it's like
- 38:18Speaker 2: with the you know, under center, with people coming at you.
- 38:21Speaker 2: And so that's a fascinating game to me. Michigan wins
- 38:24Speaker 2: that game, gets off to a good start, gets a
- 38:26Speaker 2: little confidence. Uh, this this could be an interesting season.
- 38:31Speaker 3: So I agree with you. They ended the season really strong.
- 38:34Speaker 2: I think they go as the quarterback goes, do they
- 38:36Speaker 2: win some of the couple of these tough road games
- 38:38Speaker 2: at Nebraska, at Oklahoma, at USC early in the year.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Is he able to really lead them as a savvy kid.
- 38:47Speaker 2: I will tell you these young kids, man, there they
- 38:50Speaker 2: have there's no fear in these guys. They they got.
- 38:56Speaker 2: I mean, he ain't gonna be intimidated. I can tell
- 38:58Speaker 2: you that none of these are that in their DNA,
- 39:02Speaker 2: and so it's gonna be fun to watch. Is he
- 39:05Speaker 2: good enough at this point to lead this team in
- 39:09Speaker 2: some of those early road games, because then he gets
- 39:11Speaker 2: a chance to really kind of get his feet under him.
- 39:14Speaker 2: I think this is probably eight and four, you know
- 39:17Speaker 2: football team, maybe nine to three if I had to guess,
- 39:21Speaker 2: But uh Searon Moore needs to do that because then
- 39:25Speaker 2: next year, I think this team's a year away. I
- 39:27Speaker 2: think they're gonna be damn good. I think they're gonna
- 39:29Speaker 2: be really good.
- 39:30Speaker 1: They could. I said, do you use those numbers? Have
- 39:33Speaker 1: moved Michigan's over under totals actually moved up to nine
- 39:36Speaker 1: and a half. Yea, you can get it plus one
- 39:38Speaker 1: point five that draft came still, So yeah, if you're
- 39:42Speaker 1: gonna throw some at it. That would be what I
- 39:44Speaker 1: might take a shot. The unders heavily juice minus won
- 39:46Speaker 1: seventy five. So obviously for his leaning start about Indiana.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Let's talk about Google me, let's talk about SIGs inside
- 39:52Speaker 1: kerk signetty. I mean, if there's anybody that made a
- 39:55Speaker 1: bigger splash than anybody that him last yary to know
- 39:57Speaker 1: who it was. I mean, he takes an Indiana team
- 39:59Speaker 1: and I made a joke about him earlier. Let me
- 40:01Speaker 1: let me roll you through something real quick. The twenty
- 40:04Speaker 1: twenty one Indiana Hoosiers won two games. They beat Western
- 40:08Speaker 1: Kentucky and they beat Idaho an fcsteam. The next year
- 40:13Speaker 1: they won four games. They beat Idaho again, Western Kentucky,
- 40:17Speaker 1: Michigan State, Illinois. The next year they'd beat Ackering, Indiana State.
- 40:21Speaker 1: You're seeing a trend here, by the way, and then
- 40:23Speaker 1: they beat Wisconsin. They went from that. Okay, they had
- 40:28Speaker 1: a total that in those years of nine wins, they
- 40:32Speaker 1: had ten wins last season. This team saw success beyond
- 40:37Speaker 1: measure last season. And the crazy thing is when you
- 40:41Speaker 1: go look at the roster, it's actually better than it
- 40:43Speaker 1: was last year. He brought over a ton of FCS
- 40:47Speaker 1: transfers He's got a lot of transfers on this team,
- 40:50Speaker 1: but you know this year he's got some Power five
- 40:53Speaker 1: transfers that he brings over and then he also brings
- 40:56Speaker 1: over the quarterback for Cal and for Dando Mendoza. I
- 40:59Speaker 1: went by can watch some cow games and Col is terrible.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Paul Justin Wilcox has a job. I don't know. He
- 41:04Speaker 1: hasn't had a winning record in five seasons, and Mendoza
- 41:08Speaker 1: was the highlight of that team. And he's got more
- 41:10Speaker 1: nuts on him.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Man, play we're gonna talk about Cal. Let's let's not
- 41:16Speaker 2: forget that got turned down the Oregon job. He's an
- 41:20Speaker 2: Orgon grad can That's the.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Damnest thing I've ever seen.
- 41:27Speaker 2: But whatever. Anyway, back to.
- 41:31Speaker 1: I like what Siggs is doing. I like the persda
- 41:34Speaker 1: that he has brought in. You go back and you
- 41:36Speaker 1: look at his track record and he's right, Google me
- 41:39Speaker 1: I win and that's the deal. Man. I think this
- 41:42Speaker 1: Indianda team is stepped up in the rate to play again,
- 41:45Speaker 1: and he takes He even jokes about taking the sec men.
- 41:48Speaker 1: He's like his first schedule is like, I ain't scheduled anybody.
- 41:51Speaker 1: It's like, our schedule is hard enough. As it is,
- 41:53Speaker 1: Why want to put anybody else on it. But that's
- 41:55Speaker 1: the one thing with their schedule that I think is
- 41:57Speaker 1: interesting is Illinois and I were back to back. Right
- 41:59Speaker 1: up front, five games have to travel out to Oregon,
- 42:03Speaker 1: they catch Penn State, you know, towards the end. This
- 42:06Speaker 1: is to me, this is an eight and fourteen, at
- 42:08Speaker 1: least an eight and fourteen. I really do think they
- 42:11Speaker 1: can pull that off put in schedule and maybe even
- 42:13Speaker 1: be better than that. I don't know, but I like
- 42:15Speaker 1: what Indiana has done. And I am just blown away
- 42:18Speaker 1: by the fact that this guy the number two scoring
- 42:20Speaker 1: offense in the country last year, forty one points a game,
- 42:23Speaker 1: number one points per play, almost you know, point six
- 42:27Speaker 1: yards per I mean, the guy absolutely put a product
- 42:31Speaker 1: on the field that this school has never seen. And
- 42:34Speaker 1: I think he's gonna put something out there again this time.
- 42:36Speaker 1: I mean, now that they had a taste of success,
- 42:39Speaker 1: they don't want to go back and start eating that
- 42:40Speaker 1: better shift if they've been eaten for the last three
- 42:43Speaker 1: decades of football that they've had there. And so I
- 42:46Speaker 1: like Indiana. I like him to be about eight and four.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Nine and three have not invested in this team yet,
- 42:52Speaker 1: but I do think this team is going to be
- 42:54Speaker 1: back where they were over Unner win total in Vegas
- 42:56Speaker 1: is eight and a half, heavily juiced to the under.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Just one fifty five is what I'm seeing. I kind
- 43:02Speaker 1: of think eight and four is the number I have
- 43:04Speaker 1: no play. I think that that's about right. But I
- 43:07Speaker 1: like what I'm doing. I love what he's done. It
- 43:09Speaker 1: just a year. I love what the gust.
- 43:11Speaker 2: It's impossible not to love what he's done. He's a
- 43:13Speaker 2: great football coach. He has won at every level. Boom
- 43:16Speaker 2: comes into what was, you know, a really good conference
- 43:19Speaker 2: last year and takes him to the playoff and just
- 43:22Speaker 2: just incredible. You know what he you know what he did?
- 43:25Speaker 2: I mean, if you tell, if you would have told
- 43:29Speaker 2: Indiana fans just preseason, hey, how do you think this
- 43:33Speaker 2: season's gonna go. We're gonna have wins over U C.
- 43:36Speaker 2: L A, Maryland, Northwestern Nebraska, Washington, Michigan State, Michigan, and Purdue.
- 43:42Speaker 3: You guys gonna be all right with that?
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah? I think I think the bulk of Indiana fans
- 43:48Speaker 2: would have been like, are you on crack rock? We
- 43:51Speaker 2: are never gonna beat all those teams in one year.
- 43:54Speaker 1: We get to go.
- 43:54Speaker 2: We get to go to a bowl game because the
- 43:56Speaker 2: playoffs games.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Basketball season starts in November. What are you talking about,
- 44:02Speaker 1: We don't even go to football game.
- 44:03Speaker 2: I mean they beat a couple of big I mean
- 44:06Speaker 2: legendary Michigan in Washington and Nebraska or legendary programs, you know.
- 44:12Speaker 2: I mean it is what Praska hasn't been Nebraska for
- 44:15Speaker 2: a while, but.
- 44:16Speaker 1: They beat Nebraska fifty six to seven.
- 44:19Speaker 2: I mean it is pantstem.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Boom pants to them.
- 44:23Speaker 2: I mean it's just you know, I would look to
- 44:24Speaker 2: beat Washington thirty one seventeen, beat Michigan State forty seventy ten.
- 44:29Speaker 2: I mean that gas cans some teams. You know, you
- 44:31Speaker 2: see forty two to thirteen. I mean we say totals here, yeah, total.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Sixty six bullet. I mean, you gotta love it. Man
- 44:41Speaker 3: SIGs gets it done.
- 44:42Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 44:43Speaker 2: I think eight and four is the number they'll be
- 44:44Speaker 2: exciting to watch. And me saying that Indiana is going
- 44:47Speaker 2: to be exciting to watch is foreign territory for me.
- 44:51Speaker 1: I'm talking about let's talk about it. So you've already
- 44:55Speaker 1: talked about bert Illinois. You like the schedul here, you
- 44:57Speaker 1: think this is the surprise team that's gonna see up
- 45:00Speaker 1: and get some folks. And I agree with you. The
- 45:03Speaker 1: weird part about their schedule is is that first stretch
- 45:07Speaker 1: they go a long way before they get a bye.
- 45:10Speaker 1: They go six games before they get a bye, and
- 45:13Speaker 1: that sixth game they get the host Ohio State and so,
- 45:16Speaker 1: and they will have already played at Indiana and at
- 45:19Speaker 1: and then have USC coming in. They bring back almost everybody.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Luke Altemyer has done a pretty good job with this program,
- 45:27Speaker 1: and they again ton of confidence. And see if over
- 45:29Speaker 1: underwent total for this team's eight and four heavily excuse me,
- 45:33Speaker 1: eight and a half heavily juiced minus one eighty to
- 45:36Speaker 1: minus one ninety to the under. I think that number
- 45:39Speaker 1: is about right. But I do think this Illinois team
- 45:41Speaker 1: can stand some games.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you. I think that I think
- 45:45Speaker 2: the number is about right. I think they're gonna need
- 45:47Speaker 2: to get an upset or two. Look, they're gonna have
- 45:50Speaker 2: to to make the playoff to be a ten and
- 45:53Speaker 2: two team, which I think that's probably where they got
- 45:55Speaker 2: to be to make the playoff. Uh huh. They're gonna
- 45:57Speaker 2: have to win at Indiana at Washington. One of those
- 46:03Speaker 2: two games. They're not going to beat Ohio State and
- 46:05Speaker 2: they can't lose anywhere else, and they certainly could lose
- 46:09Speaker 2: at Wisconsin. Already told you I think Northwestern is going
- 46:12Speaker 2: to be improved. Uh, they certainly can lose those games.
- 46:15Speaker 2: The Duke is A is A. I think it's going
- 46:19Speaker 2: to be good. I think's gonna be pretty good. That's
- 46:21Speaker 2: that's got the potential to be a tough, tough ball
- 46:23Speaker 2: game too. So I think the real number probably comes
- 46:27Speaker 2: in at eight and four, maybe done in three. I
- 46:30Speaker 2: think they fall just short of the playoff. But I
- 46:32Speaker 2: do think this is a good football team. But the
- 46:34Speaker 2: companess here is because the style dealing with plays, they
- 46:38Speaker 2: don't They don't beat anybody big. I mean, the games
- 46:40Speaker 2: are all close. You know, Nebraska was a touchdown, Kansas
- 46:45Speaker 2: was a touchdown. You know, Purdue was a point against
- 46:49Speaker 2: the terrible Purdue team in overtime. Michigan last year was fourteen.
- 46:54Speaker 2: They got drilled pretty good by Oregon, lost by eight
- 46:58Speaker 2: to Minnesota.
- 47:00Speaker 3: You know, they beat Michigan State.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Pretty good touch down the Ruggers and ten points to Northwestern.
- 47:06Speaker 2: So they just don't beat people. The flip side of
- 47:09Speaker 2: that is strut winning all this. Those games really easy
- 47:11Speaker 2: to lose, a close game too, and so that's what
- 47:14Speaker 2: scares me the most about this football team. Uh but
- 47:17Speaker 2: they do have a very very experienced quarterback, and if
- 47:20Speaker 2: Baltimyre's stays healthy, I think his team's got a chance
- 47:23Speaker 2: to make them Hay.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you on this, Sid. I like this team.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I love the vig Tennessee. I'm pretty suit I got
- 47:29Speaker 1: everybody back.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Man, Yeah, Illinoli's got everybody back. I mean, you know
- 47:35Speaker 2: two good cornerbacks that that I think are you know,
- 47:39Speaker 2: gonna give them advantage. I kind of like what they
- 47:42Speaker 2: what they're doing along the defensive line. You know, Gave
- 47:44Speaker 2: Jacobs is a is a big time player. Uh he
- 47:47Speaker 2: was thirteen All American last year. So you know that's
- 47:50Speaker 2: a guy that you know, you're excited to get back
- 47:54Speaker 2: if you're you know, if you're bird. So I think
- 47:56Speaker 2: it's gonna be I think this is gonna be a
- 47:58Speaker 2: good a good foot a good football team. Caten Vegan
- 48:02Speaker 2: the running back, it is a pretty good player. Of course,
- 48:06Speaker 2: I talked about Altimyer. So this is gonna be a
- 48:08Speaker 2: fun team to fun team to watch see where they
- 48:11Speaker 2: see where they come out a lot of close games.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm the ball is gonna have to bounce their
- 48:18Speaker 1: way to get over eight to before. But that's where
- 48:20Speaker 1: I've got this team slided. This about eighty four. Uh
- 48:23Speaker 1: so I don't think there's any value in the number.
- 48:24Speaker 1: And trying to get down on that talking about another
- 48:27Speaker 1: one that again, this is a team you and I's
- 48:30Speaker 1: lifetime was just dominant and just has been completely lost
- 48:34Speaker 1: in space since they left the big twelve in Nebraska.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Uh did you see Scott Brost the dig that make
- 48:40Speaker 1: doment about Nebraska?
- 48:42Speaker 2: It's like, well, and then did you see uh did
- 48:46Speaker 2: you see Matt Rule.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Defending Really I didn't see the other side of it.
- 48:50Speaker 3: No Rule defended him. He said, look that that doesn't
- 48:54Speaker 3: that doesn't offend me.
- 48:55Speaker 2: He was like, this was this is a tough job.
- 48:57Speaker 2: We were behind on program, behind on thees. He kind
- 49:01Speaker 2: of offended him a little bit and he said, you know,
- 49:02Speaker 2: he said, look, I took that I took that job
- 49:04Speaker 2: at Carolina is the wrong job for me. He said
- 49:07Speaker 2: that doesn't make the wrong a bad job. It just
- 49:10Speaker 2: wasn't the right job for me. And he goes and
- 49:12Speaker 2: I think that's the deal, was guy. I think it
- 49:14Speaker 2: was home to him. He wishes he hadn't come back
- 49:17Speaker 2: and failed. I thought it was really I thought Rule
- 49:20Speaker 2: did a very very classy job of helping segue past that.
- 49:28Speaker 2: I thought he did a really, really good job. Just
- 49:30Speaker 2: says a lot about Matt Ruhle candidly.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Yeah, when you talking about that team, So Matt Rule,
- 49:37Speaker 1: everrary's been you get the third year. Bump did it too.
- 49:39Speaker 1: They did it a temple I did obviously at Baylor.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Here we are in Nebraska last year. He reboots the
- 49:46Speaker 1: offense midway through the season when he brings in Dana
- 49:48Speaker 1: Holderson as first and analyst, and then he turns over
- 49:51Speaker 1: the playbook to him and you started seeing some improvement.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Now keep in mind, too, guys, this was a team
- 49:58Speaker 1: last year that their offense score twenty three points a
- 50:00Speaker 1: gamer to learn third in the country. This was not
- 50:02Speaker 1: a good offense. But Holger said had some interesting comments
- 50:05Speaker 1: when he got there. He said, look, he goes, we
- 50:08Speaker 1: are wide receivers didn't even have to block. He goes, no,
- 50:10Speaker 1: wonder our game. We couldn't break any explosive plays. We
- 50:13Speaker 1: didn't have ride receivers I could even block. And so
- 50:15Speaker 1: he started with the basics. With implementing this, you're also
- 50:18Speaker 1: dealing with a kid that was a true freshman quarterback
- 50:21Speaker 1: in Dylan Roola and transitioning into you know, Big ten game.
- 50:27Speaker 1: This wasn't like he jumped in and he was playing
- 50:28Speaker 1: in the America Apps that a conference for Sam or something.
- 50:31Speaker 1: I mean, he's playing Big ten football day one and
- 50:34Speaker 1: he got banged up. They kept rolling him back out there.
- 50:36Speaker 1: I think he's been some time injured. But everything I've
- 50:39Speaker 1: read about Holger sending him has been a good It's
- 50:42Speaker 1: been a good vibe, and I figured that had to
- 50:44Speaker 1: be the case. Otherwise he would have probably jumped in
- 50:46Speaker 1: the portal because he could have gone anywhere in the country.
- 50:48Speaker 1: For the most part, I mean, everybody likes a kid.
- 50:50Speaker 1: He's got a lot of Pat Mahomes swagger. I think
- 50:53Speaker 1: he thinks he is a little bit Mobi and he
- 50:55Speaker 1: tries to make some throws that he's just not ready
- 50:57Speaker 1: for yet. But this is a team I think it's
- 50:59Speaker 1: gonna take a bump. I just don't. But I think
- 51:02Speaker 1: when I say that, I mean like six and six
- 51:04Speaker 1: is where I see the ceiling for this Nebraska team.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I don't know that they're quite there to be a
- 51:10Speaker 1: team that can contend to win the Big Ten or
- 51:13Speaker 1: make the playoffs. But I could see Nebraska's over over
- 51:17Speaker 1: under win totals at seven and a half heavily juiced
- 51:20Speaker 1: to the over. It mightus won forty five. When I
- 51:22Speaker 1: look at the schedule, it seems manageable. But I am
- 51:26Speaker 1: I am not putting my after tax dollars down the
- 51:28Speaker 1: Nebraska Cornhusters because they have burnt me and but put
- 51:31Speaker 1: me way too many times.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Dang Key's a big pickup for Nebraska. The wide receiver
- 51:36Speaker 2: coming over for Kentucky. He's a three year starter. I
- 51:39Speaker 2: think he has got seventeen eighteen hundred yards in his career.
- 51:42Speaker 2: I mean he's a guy that he's a guy that
- 51:45Speaker 2: can actually make some plays for this football team. They
- 51:47Speaker 2: got a thousand yard rusher back. You got Reyola who's
- 51:50Speaker 2: got another year under his belt. So I do think
- 51:53Speaker 2: the offense is going to be better. I question this defense.
- 51:56Speaker 2: That's my That's what I got to You got a
- 51:59Speaker 2: new court coming in. He was the defensive back coach,
- 52:03Speaker 2: so that's going to be you know, it's John Butler,
- 52:06Speaker 2: who was a special teams coach there. He was Penn
- 52:10Speaker 2: State DC years ago. I think I was thirteen fourteen
- 52:13Speaker 2: somewhere back in that stretch. I've been an NFL guy
- 52:16Speaker 2: for a while until he came back last year to
- 52:19Speaker 2: coach defense back. I questioned, this defense that don't have
- 52:22Speaker 2: the dudes.
- 52:24Speaker 1: That's what I see.
- 52:25Speaker 2: I take, and so that's my concern about this football team.
- 52:29Speaker 2: I think they're going to be better. Think Nebraska, much
- 52:32Speaker 2: like I said about Michigan, still think they're one year away. Uh.
- 52:35Speaker 2: It is hard to fix these programs when they're in
- 52:38Speaker 2: really bad condition. And I'm seeing it up close and
- 52:42Speaker 2: personal with my team, and I think Nebraska fans are
- 52:46Speaker 2: seeing it with Matt Ruhle. Everybody thinks, oh, you can
- 52:49Speaker 2: go fix it fast because you got the portal. Yeah,
- 52:51Speaker 2: but you gotta have things that you can't be fixing
- 52:54Speaker 2: a bad football team. Nobody wants to come play for you.
- 52:56Speaker 2: It doesn't matter how much money you've got. And they
- 52:59Speaker 2: didn't have a big NL program either, I mean it
- 53:02Speaker 2: was non existent, so you know they're they're behind the
- 53:06Speaker 2: eight ball. The recruiting is significantly better this year because
- 53:10Speaker 2: I think their fan bases realized we got to get
- 53:11Speaker 2: out and we got to do this. So I think
- 53:13Speaker 2: rules on the right track. It's just it's hard to
- 53:15Speaker 2: fix a really, really bad program fast.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Yeah. No, I completely agree with you. I do want
- 53:22Speaker 1: to talk about another one that I thinks passionate Iowa.
- 53:24Speaker 1: I like Iowa a lot this season, I mean, and
- 53:27Speaker 1: it's one of those ones. Do you ever, I mean
- 53:29Speaker 1: two years ago, you know, we were tracking to see
- 53:31Speaker 1: if you know, parents could get the offense to twenty
- 53:35Speaker 1: five points a game, and whatever the number was obviously
- 53:37Speaker 1: didn't make it. Yes, to let his son go. His
- 53:40Speaker 1: soun's now tight ends coach. But apparently he's one of
- 53:42Speaker 1: the best studied coach in the country, which makes sense
- 53:44Speaker 1: because like the five guys in the NFL to play
- 53:47Speaker 1: tight end and all went to Iowa this year and
- 53:50Speaker 1: last year, the quarterbacking situation Iowa could not have been worse.
- 53:53Speaker 1: I mean, it was a mess all season long. It
- 53:56Speaker 1: was a mess. This season they bring in a senior
- 53:58Speaker 1: transfer to Mark Gronowski. Probably haven't heard about this guy.
- 54:01Speaker 1: You're gonna hear about him a ton as they started
- 54:03Speaker 1: rolling the season. It's got won two national championships at
- 54:06Speaker 1: South Dakosa State uh with and he's an agent mobile quarterback.
- 54:10Speaker 1: He can get around.
- 54:13Speaker 2: As a starter more.
- 54:16Speaker 1: But nobody's ever seen a kid unless you're watching MCS
- 54:18Speaker 1: football and so, but these guys a dog, you know.
- 54:22Speaker 1: And so like when you look at this Iowa team,
- 54:24Speaker 1: when I started reading was coming, I was like, man,
- 54:26Speaker 1: this is a pretty good fit. And then you just
- 54:28Speaker 1: gotta wonder, Okay, what else do we have? You know,
- 54:31Speaker 1: can they is there some explosion in this offense? And
- 54:34Speaker 1: what can they do? Because you know you're gonna get a.
- 54:36Speaker 5: Defense, you don't even have to worry about that, and
- 54:38Speaker 5: you know you're not gonna and you the other thing
- 54:40Speaker 5: you know about Iowa is very rarely almost never does
- 54:45Speaker 5: this team beat itself.
- 54:46Speaker 1: You have to beat Iowa. You're they're not gonna give
- 54:49Speaker 1: you the game. And so I kind of I'm kind
- 54:52Speaker 1: of I'm kind of excited about Iowa. Uh you know,
- 54:55Speaker 1: maybe have a widow because but you know, and I
- 54:58Speaker 1: and I also like how their schedule sets up. I
- 55:00Speaker 1: think that it's kind of I think the schedule is
- 55:02Speaker 1: manageable for Iowa this season. You look at it, it's
- 55:04Speaker 1: like they catch Iowa State game two at Iowa State.
- 55:08Speaker 1: That's a huge rivalry for them. But the thing is,
- 55:11Speaker 1: I was coming Iowa State's coming back from Dublin where
- 55:14Speaker 1: they play Kansas State the week before, and so I
- 55:17Speaker 1: could easily see them just taking it to Iowa State team.
- 55:21Speaker 1: But I think is gonna be pretty good. And like
- 55:23Speaker 1: I said, then, their schedule is not that bad. If
- 55:24Speaker 1: you go look at it, it's like everything sets up
- 55:27Speaker 1: to where you've got one or two big games and
- 55:29Speaker 1: there's only four on their whole schedule that I think
- 55:31Speaker 1: they'll be underdog too. The rest of the schedule. I
- 55:33Speaker 1: think they're going to be favored in I like Iowa. Here.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I am on the Iowa bandwagon this season. Over under
- 55:39Speaker 1: winners at seven and a half, heavily juiced to the
- 55:42Speaker 1: under a minus one sixty. I leaned over. I think
- 55:45Speaker 1: this is an eight win n ie win football team.
- 55:47Speaker 1: He wins eight games every year. How do you not
- 55:49Speaker 1: bet the over on this? He what's eight games every year?
- 55:52Speaker 2: At least YEP. That's certainly the way it feels, and
- 55:54Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't think there's gonna be any
- 55:56Speaker 2: difference this year. Look the same thing I was saying
- 55:58Speaker 2: earlier about the schedule. Your road games in the league
- 56:01Speaker 2: are at Rutgers, at Wisconsin, at USC and at Nebraska.
- 56:04Speaker 2: You got to feel good about that. You gotta. You
- 56:07Speaker 2: don't have a single road game against an upper echelon
- 56:11Speaker 2: team in the league. You know. Now you do get
- 56:14Speaker 2: a little bit of bad luck and that you get Oregon,
- 56:16Speaker 2: Penn State in Indiana.
- 56:17Speaker 3: Uh on the draw.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Uh, that's three good teams, get them at home. And
- 56:21Speaker 2: Iowa City is a tough place to play. So it'll
- 56:24Speaker 2: be fascinating to see how how this team slids uh
- 56:28Speaker 2: where they fall Mark, this team just gets one or
- 56:32Speaker 2: two upsets, and this team's a this team's a potential.
- 56:37Speaker 2: This team is a potential playoff team. That sounds crazy,
- 56:43Speaker 2: but they're just an upset or two away from being
- 56:45Speaker 2: able to do it. Because I'm with you, I think
- 56:47Speaker 2: I was going to be pretty good.
- 56:49Speaker 1: You imagine having to go to a home game in
- 56:52Speaker 1: Iowa in December and like that, Like you're coming from
- 56:56Speaker 1: like the you're coming from Dallas, or you're coming from
- 57:00Speaker 1: the Southeastern Conference where it's maybe a tinga fall and
- 57:04Speaker 1: then you get to roll up there to Iowa and
- 57:07Speaker 1: it may be just ass freezing cold and you get
- 57:09Speaker 1: up there. Yeah way, but at hospitals you don't even
- 57:15Speaker 1: know what's going on and it's like, and all the
- 57:17Speaker 1: people are nice to you drinking bush light. Someone from Iowa,
- 57:21Speaker 1: please tell me why bush light is the national beer
- 57:24Speaker 1: of Iowa. It's unbelievable. That's all they drink up there
- 57:27Speaker 1: is push light. There's so much light that can't have
- 57:30Speaker 1: corn on them.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and Golden Light Minnesota slides in on. I'm like,
- 57:36Speaker 2: you can't even buy and make a lot of golden
- 57:38Speaker 2: Light outside of Minnesota. Man, every time I go up
- 57:42Speaker 2: there playing this golf tournament's charity golf tournament, and there
- 57:44Speaker 2: people are swinging these things around, I'm like, this is
- 57:47Speaker 2: the wildest thing I've ever seen.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Oh, a couple of games. I'm not going to dive
- 57:53Speaker 1: into a lot of these teams left. I've done the research.
- 57:56Speaker 1: I'm just gonna telling they're not very good Wisconsin. I
- 58:00Speaker 1: think the look Fickle experiment is over. I don't know
- 58:03Speaker 1: if the game's too big form or what, but I
- 58:07Speaker 1: can tell you when they go to Bama week three,
- 58:10Speaker 1: they're going to get the wood laid down on these guys.
- 58:13Speaker 1: And their schedule does them no favors. They have Miami
- 58:18Speaker 1: of Ohio, and I don't like to roll through schedules.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Miami Oho middle Tennessee at Bama, at Maryland, they're probably
- 58:25Speaker 1: going to be three and one, and then the middlechuck
- 58:28Speaker 1: of their schedule at Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State, at Oregon, Okay,
- 58:35Speaker 1: great week off Washington, at Indiana, Illinois, and at Minie.
- 58:41Speaker 1: I don't know that he will be coaching this team
- 58:43Speaker 1: at the end of the season. I just telling you
- 58:45Speaker 1: because they could easily lose seven games in a row
- 58:49Speaker 1: and you got a whole new offense. The quarterbacks coming
- 58:52Speaker 1: in is a transfer from Maryland last year. The offensive
- 58:57Speaker 1: coordinator's gone, the defensive coordinators gone. They basically rebooted everything
- 59:02Speaker 1: Wisconsin hot garbage. I am fading this team all seedon long.
- 59:07Speaker 1: This team has no identity to me whatsoever. And I
- 59:09Speaker 1: know he keeps it over getting back to it. I
- 59:11Speaker 1: don't see it over under heres five and a half,
- 59:14Speaker 1: heavily juiced to the under. It might's won sixty. I
- 59:17Speaker 1: lean that way because I think this team loses stuff
- 59:19Speaker 1: and game me.
- 59:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I do too. I think they're I think they
- 59:23Speaker 2: probably go under. You know, bringing in Billy Edwards quarterback
- 59:27Speaker 2: from Maryland. U's athletic.
- 59:31Speaker 3: But you know, at the end of the at the
- 59:33Speaker 3: end of the day. I'm just not I'm not sold
- 59:35Speaker 3: on this.
- 59:35Speaker 2: I do think their offensive line is going to give
- 59:38Speaker 2: them a chance, but we'll we'll see. I just Wisconsin
- 59:43Speaker 2: has been really bad. I think they're gonna go to
- 59:45Speaker 2: Alabama and get gas cand.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Just like they did.
- 59:48Speaker 2: Like I think it's gonna be a forty two ten
- 59:50Speaker 2: kind of game. I think they're gonna get a ham
- 59:52Speaker 2: roots and and then and then and then. I think
- 59:57Speaker 2: a lot of confidence since you start to kick in,
- 59:59Speaker 2: you know what, what's going on with this football team.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: So I'm with you. I'm out on I'm out on Wisconsin.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Just just don't don't think they can get it done.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: You know, we already talked about Washington. My opinion of them,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: I think they've got a chance to bump up. And
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: the same thing, the same thing's true here. I love
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: their I love their road games. They're at Maryland, at Michigan,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: at Wisconsin, at UCLA. They could go easily go three
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: and one. Hell, they could go four and oh in
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: those games.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: I agree.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: And they play Ohio State, Illinois, and Oregon.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Man, the all three of those games are at home.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: I mean, hell, I can't tell you they couldn't figure
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: out how to win two of, if not all, of
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: those games. I don't think. I don't think Washington's gonna
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: go eleven and one or ten and two. But man,
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: this team's gonna go eight and four, nine and three.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: That's what that really is what I think. I think
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: they got a chance to bump up.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: I agree with you. I think if there's a surprise
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: team in the sky groups that nobody sees coming, I
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: think it's Washington over under here for this winter totals
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: is seven and a half. And if you like the
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: over there's several books out there that have plus money
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: on that, and I think this is that's where I'm
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: going to be playing this This is my one over
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: under total of a player. And I'm telling you all
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: right now, man, Demon Williams quarter piece. Dude, he's gonna
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: be so fun to watch. You're gonna flip off some
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: college game day or you know, after the next day
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: and just catch some highlights of me. This is gonna
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: be a really good team. I like what I like
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: what they're doing up there. They catch the bottom eight,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: uh of thek of the Big ten coming their way.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: And then there love Denzel Boston man, big kid kids
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: like six three six four, big kid.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: Really like that, really like that kid. I think I mean,
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: hecky Allen's that had a thousand yards last year and
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: that wasn't a very good offensive football team last year.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: In the limited action, Williams looked great coming in and
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: that they just had that pack that you play for him,
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: and then you know, I think he I think he
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: got a couple of starts at the end of the
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: year where he kind of took over the job, but
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: he played in all thirteen games. I just like this kid.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: I think he's exciting.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: I think he got reps last year that he's gonna
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: be able to come in and really take this football team.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: I think it's interesting that you and I haven't talked
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: about this and we're both landed on the stame spot
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: with Washington an hour and somebody into this podcast, and
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Wisconsin's gonna be garbage. I got nothing on Minnesota. I'll
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: tell you one thing. I do like in Minnesota Week one,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: you can actually go out and they played Buffalo on
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: that Thursday night. I think Buffalo is going to be better.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: You're you are super in the weeds. If you're still
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: listening to this and you're listening to me ramble on
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: about taking you. But I think get you some Buffalo
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: against Minneapolis or Minnesota in that first game, I think
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: the line's like sixteen or seventeen. Minnesota runs one of
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: the slowest paced offenses in the entire country, and I
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: think it's gonna leave it open for Buffalo to easily
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: come in and get this cover. I like this one here.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: I don't have much else on Minnesota.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: I wrote up here ten years Is that right?
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: No?
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Ways?
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's right. You're nine near nine, You're nine.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: Sorry. Twenty sixteen was his last was his last year
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: at Western Michigan. Holy smokes, that doesn't seem like he's
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: been here that long.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: I'm blown away. So and then the other one, I'll
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: give you Maryland, Maryland, And somebody asked me there for
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: a tip. I was like, bet the under of Maryland.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: It's like four and a half wins. This team's gonna
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: be a mess. Locksley came out the other day at
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Big ten media days and admitted he's like I lost
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: the locker room last year. I didn't know how to
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: manage an al. I didn't know how to manage the
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: locker room. And it spilled out onto the field. I
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: am not a Mike Locksley fan. I have never been
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: a Mike Locksley fan. I'm sure he's a nice guy.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I just think that this is not a great spot.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: And his talking about were recruit the D and B better.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: All that's good. I'll give you the nugget. I heard
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: this from another show and then I had to go
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: look it up to verify it. This is a good
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: one under Mike Loxley. Crystal under Mike Loxley, the Maryland
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Terrapins after Week four. So the final eight games of
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: the season the last four years are seventeen and thirty
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: two against the spread, and they have missed the number
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: by a touchdown on average in that spot. So basically
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: that means if you're looking at their schedule today, you
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: get past Wisconsin, you get to the Bay and then
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: it's Washington, Nebraska, Cila by Indiana, blah blah blah blah blah.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Maybe a hard fight all the way out. That's eight
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: games that we made. We're gonna look into that and
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: see how that's gonna go. But I just got no
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: faith in this Maryland team whatsoever. I think it's a disaster.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: I got no faith in on whatsoever. Think the due's
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: going to be really bad. I did talk about my
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Northwestern Wildcats. I do think they've got a chance to
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: be a much better team. Bringing in Preston Stone from
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: SMU who lost the quarterback derby there last year, the
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: rest of this team, I think he's got a chance
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: to be Okay, I think they're gonna be better. Look,
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: they've won. I think David Brown took people forget the
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: guy won eight games when he took over that mess
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: from Pat Fitzgerald. I thought that team was going to load.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: I talked about it. I thought they were going to
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: be awful.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: He won eight games.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Man, he figured out how to win four games last year,
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: and that team was terrible playing in a high school stadium.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: I no, I mean, look, that team almost beat Duke
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: in double overtime, and Duke was a good football team.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: They're not that. They were not that bad. I think
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: they're going to be better this year, and I think
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: they've got a chance to surprise some people. Am I
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: telling you they're gonna win seven eight games? No, But
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: I think they're gonna be significantly better. The record may
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: only be slightly better, but I think his team's legit
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: chance got a chance to go to a ball game.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Yeah, the only thing my only Preston Stone. I feel
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: like that quarterbacks transferred to Northwestern just go to die.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: I don't remember the last time somebody went up there
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: and did something good. But I do agree with you
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: that I think this team could surprise the teams. I'm
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: definitely gonna look to, you know, play on this team
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: in several spots this year. I love their opening week
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: game at two Lane because I think Too is actually
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: gonna be pretty good. But yeah, I think you're gonna
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: see where Northwestern is right away. But their schedules tough
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: and so anyway, I don't know. I love the Big Ten.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: I got nothing on I got nothing to produce. Sorry,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: I got great friends with the school there. It's a
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: complete rebuild for where they are in the spot.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and I did look. I like Barry Odom. Think
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: he's think he's a good football coach. I think he
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: if it can be rebuilt, it'll he can do it.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: But it's gonna take a while. You see La Bruins
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: that Sean Foster can't believe he didn't say we're still
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: in La at the Big at the big ten media days.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: That was a misfire. I mean, you could have lightened
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: the whole week if you if you walk up podium
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: and said to Sean Foster, we're steal in Los Angeles.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: That would have been completely fabulous. But look, they obviously
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: got the Tennessee quarterback coming in. But I'm going to
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: tell you there's a stretch of this schedule for gamblers
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: that I want to talk about where they go at Northwestern,
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: at Michigan State, and at Indiana three out of five weeks.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Three out of five weeks. Oh off week mixed in there, buddy,
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: I'm betting the breaks off Indiana. I'm just telling you,
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: making a note in my calendar right now, betting the
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: breaks off of Indiana after that third game in five
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: weeks on the road of more than two hours away.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: I think Indiana drills those guys, make notes of it.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: You got a real chance. I also think Michigan State
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: may be able on that on two weeks before that,
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: may be able to get a load of that too,
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: because they because here's the thing. UCLA's at Northwestern, they
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: host Penn State, and then they're at Michigan State. Boom boom, boom,
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: coming right back two out of three weeks, making a
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: long road trip, and boom, you mix in one of
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: the best teams in the country to beat them up
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: at home, and you know they're gonna play art because
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: Spen State they're probably gonna be number one. It's gonna
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: they're gonna give good effort. Boom, They're going right back
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: on another long trip, going to Michigan State, at Michigan
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: State at Indiana, two good gambling opportunities right there in
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: the middle of October.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: I am such a nerd scout that I have my
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: schedule printed if you can see it, and I've already
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: gone and I have highlighted where teams are traveling across
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: two times our time zones, and then I've also highlighted
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: if they're playing five games in a row and where
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: there are in that road game. So I am such
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: a nerd.
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: I've got these hanging in my office now so that
- 1:08:47Speaker 6: each week I don't have to like go back into
- 1:08:49Speaker 6: a vacuum and see where these are and don't forget
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: some of these secret because I feel like we forget
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: some of these sometimes, and it's important, man, I mean,
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: you just start going through the season, it's like, oh crap,
- 1:08:58Speaker 6: you know, here's a game I probably would have overlooked.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Whatever reason, there's there's an edge that I saw in
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: the lie that we need to take.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: It's gonna be It's gonna be so much fun.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: I'm I'm planning to do some AI things on some
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: gambling just to see how it works, uh this first year,
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: but at the end of the day, I think it's
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: changing gambling forever. There's just so much more information out there,
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: and uh, you know, AI is really changing the games.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: So it's gonna be a lot of fun, just this.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Looking forward to the season, Pig ten gonna be a
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: great league, Gonna be a lot of fun. I think
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: the national title team is likely Big ten or SEC.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: And the only team I think has got a chance
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: not in those leagues, is that it is probably the
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Clemson Tiger And I just don't know that Dabo can.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: We'll get it done, but we'll see. I think they've
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: got a chance. As I give a little segue into
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: acc about what I think about.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Them, do not overlook America's Conference. Bro the Baylor Bears
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: come storming through this thing. Don't have any idea what I.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: Said, we can't I can't let you go. I know,
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: I sent you the text. We got to share this
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: for the readers. I sent Mark text of the video
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: of of Dave Brandon talking about the midgets. And it's
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: the strangest thing, I said, Auburn by two things. That's
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: the strangest. Well, the press conference, I know, it was crazy.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: It was like at first I thought it was AI
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: generated and then after I but then it made no
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: sense and I was like, all right, I gotta watch
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: it again. You know we are what. I was like,
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: what on earth is it? It's like, did you go
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: so far down the rabbit hole you couldn't come back?
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: But what are you doing? He's weird, man, it is
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: so weird.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: It is awesome. So and then you got you priest
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: today comes out talking about LinkedIn girth. I'm like, well,
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: what are we talking about? Going back to the present
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: two days?
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: It's that game is going to be complete bizarro world.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: But but I do think Baylor. Baylor's got a chance,
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: especially if they win that ball game, and I think
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: both of us think they made they probably will that
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: they got an outside chance of the playoff. Man, because
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: I think they legitimately can win the big twelve.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: We'll see. But the line in that game is crazy.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: That line is it's been moving all over the ball.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: It was Auburn minus two and a half at one
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: point last week, Baylor was favored by a point and
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: now it's back to one point line. And so it's
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: interesting that a game of that magnitude is getting that
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: much play this early in the season. I'll tell you
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: one real quick for Week one, and I know I'm
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: not giving tips that up because we'll have a Week
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: one board. It's always probably one of our biggest boards.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: But let me tell you something, man, if you haven't
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: laid a number on Bama to go into Tallahassee and
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: pound those guys, I think you're missing out. I think
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Bama is going to just I mean, why why costellanas
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: the transferred quarterback at Florida State, thinks he needs to
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: run his pie hole when you're playing Obama team, A
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: Baba team that went nine and four last year, A
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Baba team that has had to hear about they can't
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: do it because Nick Saban's not there anymore. Ababa team
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: who has a quarterback that actually fits into the system
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: that they want to run. And oh by the way,
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: has the best high school player in the country, Keelon Russell,
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: sitting right behind it. Okay, this BABA team is gonna
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: be so good. They're gonna be so good. I think
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: they are going to just rip Florida State's head off
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: in that game. I mean twelve and a half. See
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: the biggest number l A all week. I guarantee the
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: biggest bat I make all week will be on Alabama.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: It's Florida States at that And look, did you see
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Florida State's got They got running backs they won't let
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: practice because they're overweight, and he's making them run laps before.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: I'm like, dude, nothing changed in Tallahassee. I'm like, if
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: you didn't figure out that he was overweight and you
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: hadn't had him running all summer, then you hadn't been
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: checking the weights and weigh in and all that. Come on, man,
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: you got meal programs, you got everything. You run cats
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: like that off. That's what that's how you that's how
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: you fix your program. You run.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: He can't throw, and so you know that.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: Off you know they are. You know.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: They're going to roll out that Nick Marshall, you know
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Natty Championship offense that you had there. But that thing
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: didn't start day one, and like it was perfect, it
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: took a while for that thing to get rolling. Then
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: it just hit. But they had a lot of breaks.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: But I'm just telling you, get ready, I think, man,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: it's just gonna run through them like ship through a
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: screen door. Man, it is gonna go fast and hard
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: and they're not even gonna know what's happened to him
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: before you're doing it. So that's that's my week one
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: nugget them to put out there for you right now.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: I love it. I love it.
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: Chalk got one up. We both like Bama.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Didn't talk to you about it, but I'm just like, God,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: I can't see this game. But anyway, folks, it's been fun.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Download of shares, give us some reviews, ask us some questions,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: and get us up both on Twitter at Netmark. He's
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: got do some one. We appreciate everything. We'll have the
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: accs our next podcast. We might get to it later
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: this week or it may come next week. Remember we
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: still have real jobs and think we have to do.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: We'll talk to y'all soon.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: Brother, that was good
