Speaker 2: in our good friend Angie Gill and Wata from the
• 2:20
Speaker 2: Cannaal Charleston Newmain Association with this week's Adopt Me Please
• 2:23
Speaker 2: Pet of the Week. Angie, good morning, welcome to the show.
• 2:26
Speaker 4: Good morning, I'm glad to be here.
• 2:28
Speaker 2: Sound like you're a little stuffed up like everybody else
• 2:30
  Speaker 2: is right now.
• 2:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, I have been battling a pretty pretty tough bug
• 2:35
Speaker 4: this week. It's Wednesday. I lost my voice completely.
• 2:39
Speaker 2: Oh well, I'm glad you're with us today because it's
• 2:41
Speaker 2: not Friday without Angie. I'll tell you that.
• 2:43
Speaker 5: I'll tell you that right now.
• 2:44
Speaker 4: Really, thank you. I really didn't want to have somebody
• 2:47
Speaker 4: feel in for me. I love doing this.
• 2:49
Speaker 2: Segment and we'll get to our Adopt Me Please pet
• 2:53
Speaker 2: of the Week here momentarily. Actually, let's go and take
• 2:56
Speaker 2: care of that now because we get some serious stuff
• 2:58
Speaker 2: that I want to get to. So tell us about Rico.
• 3:02
Speaker 2: That is our do me please pet of the week.
• 3:05
Speaker 4: Uh So, Rico came to the shelter as astray, as
• 3:08
Speaker 4: most of them do. He's about six years old. He's
• 3:11
Speaker 4: a little bit on the older side. He is a
• 3:14
Speaker 4: a very mannerly dog. He loves treats and he knows
• 3:17
Speaker 4: how to sit and shake for treats. He's neutered, as
• 3:21
Speaker 4: up to date on vaccines as we can get him,
• 3:23
Speaker 4: and they would likely do best in a home without
• 3:25
Speaker 4: really young children, just because you know, he gets startled,
• 3:28
Speaker 4: bow out, noises, things like that, and would probably do
• 3:31
Speaker 4: best if you have female dogs at home. Cats we
• 3:34
Speaker 4: are unsure, but I would lean towards probably a no
• 3:37
Speaker 4: for Rico, but female dogs he does great with.
• 3:41
Speaker 2: He's good looking dog. What kind of dog is Rico?
• 3:45
Speaker 4: I would say maybe a bully mix of sorts. There
• 3:48
Speaker 4: are you know, different variants of bully breeds, so just
• 3:51
Speaker 4: any of them mixed together problems.
• 3:53
Speaker 2: That's kind of what I thought when you sent me
• 3:54
Speaker 2: his picture. And again his picture as always whether or
• 3:57
Speaker 2: not me please put it the week Posted Dave Allen
• 3:58
Speaker 2: Radio and Facebook That CCHS Network Facebook page and that
• 4:02
  Speaker 2: Dave A seventy on X. I thought there was a
• 4:03
Speaker 2: little bit of a bully in there when I when
• 4:05
  Speaker 2: I saw his picture, he's.
• 4:07
Speaker 4: Got that like real blocky head that bullies typically have.
• 4:10
Speaker 2: So that's a real blockie head. That is an official
• 4:14
Speaker 2: descriptive term from the Angie's glossary, a blockie head. All right,
• 4:19
Speaker 2: So what's what's his story about? How long has he
• 4:22
Speaker 2: been there? What kind of a situation do you come from?
• 4:25
Speaker 2: Do you have any idea?
• 4:26
Speaker 4: Uh So, he's only been with us for a couple
• 4:28
Speaker 4: of months. I think since the beginning of February, maybe
• 4:32
Speaker 4: the end of January. He's not been there incredibly long,
• 4:36
Speaker 4: and he was brought in as just astray. Now, somebody
• 4:40
Speaker 4: did reach out to us and let us know that
• 4:41
Speaker 4: they know this dog. They aren't the owner, but they
• 4:44
Speaker 4: do know his real name is Rico, and they were
• 4:47
Speaker 4: supposed to inform the owner that he was, you know,
• 4:49
Speaker 4: at our shelter. That's been a few weeks back and
• 4:51
Speaker 4: nobody's been up there to get him. So so it
• 4:55
Speaker 4: kind of a backstory, but not a whole lot, all right.
• 4:58
Speaker 2: Uh So, Rico is our dog, and again he is
• 5:02
Speaker 2: six years old. You referred to him as a class clown.
• 5:05
  Speaker 2: I like that.
• 5:06
Speaker 4: Uh yeah, So the class clown tag. If you look
• 5:09
Speaker 4: at our website and look at dogs our for dogs
• 5:12
Speaker 4: that you know are just like the entertaining, welcoming, literally
• 5:16
Speaker 4: class clowns of the group. They just they're really great
• 5:19
Speaker 4: with people and you know, love to socialize with people.
• 5:22
Speaker 4: So I always love to see that tag on their profile.
• 5:26
Speaker 2: All right, so let's get serious here. You have an
• 5:30
Speaker 2: intake pause up there. Explain what that is and why
• 5:32
  Speaker 2: it's happening.
• 5:34
Speaker 4: So we are pausing our intakes for dogs and puppies
• 5:37
Speaker 4: for two weeks. And that is not a decision that
• 5:40
Speaker 4: has come lightly. That is a decision that was made
• 5:42
Speaker 4: with a lot of thought behind it and a lot
• 5:45
Speaker 4: of caution. We've had some positive distemper cases in our shelter.
• 5:51
Speaker 4: If you don't know what distemper is, it is a really,
• 5:53
Speaker 4: really nasty disease typically spread by wildlife critters such as raccoons,
• 6:00
Speaker 4: and it causes neurological issues. It causes a lot of
• 6:03
Speaker 4: upper upper respiratory issues, and if left untreated, and sometimes
• 6:09
Speaker 4: if it's treated but it's progressed too far, it can
• 6:12
Speaker 4: result in death in you know wildlife creatures as well
• 6:16
Speaker 4: as dogs. The cats are safe, which is why we
• 6:18
Speaker 4: have not paused intake on our cats. So this disease
• 6:22
Speaker 4: is very very serious, and since we've had multiple cases
• 6:25
Speaker 4: in our shelter, we are pausing intakes, not not for
• 6:30
Speaker 4: any reason other than to simply protect new dogs that
• 6:33
Speaker 4: would be coming into our into our shelter. Two weeks
• 6:38
Speaker 4: that is long enough for us to vaccinate a new
• 6:40
Speaker 4: dog that might be coming into our shelter and sending
• 6:44
Speaker 4: them back out with the public, letting that vaccine incubate
• 6:48
Speaker 4: in their bodies. So essentially, you know, the question might
• 6:52
Speaker 4: be why two weeks We're wanting that vaccine to have
• 6:55
Speaker 4: enough time to work and fully protect them before coming
• 6:58
  Speaker 4: into the shelter.
• 7:00
Speaker 2: All right, And again this is just going to be
• 7:01
Speaker 2: for two weeks and does not affect cats. It's just dogs.
• 7:04
Speaker 2: So if somebody, if you and I'm sure your phone rings,
• 7:07
Speaker 2: you get an email or something from somebody that or
• 7:10
Speaker 2: for somebody that that has animals that need to go somewhere,
• 7:13
Speaker 2: how do you handle that if you're not taking dogs
• 7:15
  Speaker 2: at this point.
• 7:16
Speaker 4: So we are of course triaging situations. Of course, there's
• 7:20
Speaker 4: always going to be a dog that's sick or that's injured,
• 7:23
Speaker 4: that desperately needs us, and we are creating a plan
• 7:27
Speaker 4: for that. We're not going to tell you, you know,
• 7:28
Speaker 4: if a dog gets hit by a car, we're not
• 7:30
Speaker 4: going to tell you to keep it and take it
• 7:31
Speaker 4: somewhere else. We are going to triage that as we can.
• 7:35
Speaker 4: We do have an area where there have been no
• 7:37
Speaker 4: positive disinfricases, you know, in the in that area, So
• 7:41
Speaker 4: it's our little quarantine area for news that absolutely have
• 7:45
Speaker 4: to come in. In the meantime, we are going to
• 7:48
Speaker 4: get if it is a healthy stray owners surrender. We
• 7:52
Speaker 4: are going to give those people that bring them up
• 7:54
Speaker 4: there the supplies they need to keep them for that
• 7:56
Speaker 4: two week period. So you need a crate, if you
• 7:58
Speaker 4: need food, you need medicine, whatever, you know. The condition
• 8:02
Speaker 4: is for you to keep this dog for two weeks.
• 8:04
  Speaker 4: That's what we're gonna do.
• 8:05
Speaker 2: You were talking with Ang Gilllan Water for the Canal Charleston.
• 8:07
Speaker 2: He made association the Dave Island Show on five. Eddieline
• 8:10
Speaker 2: brought to you inmpirted by Pinnacle Consultants, helping to identify
• 8:12

• 8:16
Speaker 2: and buildings all across the state, providing inspections, testing, and
• 8:19
Speaker 2: accredited lab services you can trust. Check out Pinnacle Corp
• 8:22
Speaker 2: dot net helping you understand your environment because what you
• 8:25
Speaker 2: don't know can hurt you. I promise we're going to
• 8:28
Speaker 2: get more positive stuff. But you had a horrific case
• 8:30
Speaker 2: this week, and I was reading this on your Facebook page.
• 8:33
Speaker 2: Actually somebody texted about it as well. A dog who
• 8:36
Speaker 2: was in total darkness and being fed through a hole.
• 8:41
Speaker 4: Uh yeah, that he was being fed through a whole
• 8:43
Speaker 4: in a basement. Our team arrived to assist the city
• 8:47
Speaker 4: of a City of Charleston humane officer read to assist
• 8:51
Speaker 4: him in getting this dog out of this house. And
• 8:55
Speaker 4: they literally had to unbolt a door with a drill
• 8:59
Speaker 4: to get access to this basement. And of course when
• 9:03
Speaker 4: our team came in, the dog was really scared. He
• 9:05
Speaker 4: was barking at them wanting them to go away, which
• 9:08
Speaker 4: you know, being locked in a basement bite do that
• 9:10
Speaker 4: to you. But once he got back to the shelter,
• 9:13
Speaker 4: he has been one of the friendliest dogs. We don't
• 9:16
Speaker 4: know a whole lot about. He is available for an option,
• 9:18
Speaker 4: but we don't know a whole lot about you know
• 9:20
Speaker 4: how he does with other dogs, how he does with kids.
• 9:22
Speaker 4: So that is still up in the air. But as
• 9:24
Speaker 4: far as with our staff staff members, he's been perfect
• 9:28
Speaker 4: and you would never know he's been locked in a basement.
• 9:30
Speaker 2: I mean, what was the situation, you know, what was
• 9:32
  Speaker 2: the situation?
• 9:33
  Speaker 1: Why?
• 9:33
Speaker 2: I mean, are you liberty to say? I mean why?
• 9:36
Speaker 2: Why was he locked in an abasement like that?
• 9:41
Speaker 4: Yeah, so there were people living there, and they actually
• 9:44
Speaker 4: were on scene for a brief moment, long enough to
• 9:46
Speaker 4: sign some owner surrender paperwork, and then they took off
• 9:50
Speaker 4: running from our staff members. Our staff members, you know,
• 9:53
Speaker 4: weren't going to patronize them or anything. You know, we
• 9:55
Speaker 4: weren't going to do anything. We just wanted to, you know,
• 9:58
Speaker 4: questions about this dog. Is he going with kids? As
• 10:00
Speaker 4: you get with Kat, but literally long enough to sign
• 10:03
Speaker 4: the paperwork and then they took off.
• 10:04
  Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't I don't know how you all
• 10:08
Speaker 2: do what you do. I'll be honest with you, I'd
• 10:10
Speaker 2: probably be catching up, you know, a murder rap or
• 10:12
Speaker 2: something if I had to do what we do. And
• 10:14
Speaker 2: the text I had about that Angie, somebody says, does
• 10:17
Speaker 2: the dog have any vision problems or suffering emotional or
• 10:20
  Speaker 2: traumatic distress.
• 10:24
Speaker 4: So far, I mean he's only been with us for
• 10:26
Speaker 4: a couple of days. So far, we're not noticing anything
• 10:28
Speaker 4: that would you know, come about as a result from
• 10:31
Speaker 4: being locked in a basement. There would probably be a
• 10:34
Speaker 4: lot of fear based aggression from you know, no contact
• 10:37
Speaker 4: with humans and being locked down there. None of that.
• 10:40
Speaker 4: He's been loose, wiggily, very happy with our staff. But again,
• 10:44
Speaker 4: you know, we haven't tried him with other dogs. We
• 10:46
Speaker 4: haven't you know, seen how he does with kids. So
• 10:49
Speaker 4: there may be some things that pop up the more
• 10:51
Speaker 4: we get to know him, but as of right now,
• 10:53
Speaker 4: there's no red flag puts him.
• 10:55
Speaker 2: Somebody ask about the distemper cases that you talked about,
• 10:58
Speaker 2: Are they coming from one particular era.
• 11:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, they are not. They're kind of all over the
• 11:03
Speaker 4: map from all you know, spots all corners of Kennall
• 11:07
Speaker 4: County if you will. So we've had Allen Creek area,
• 11:12
Speaker 4: We've had the Bell area, Cabin Creek. I mean, it's
• 11:16
Speaker 4: just been all over the map. And one reason we're
• 11:19
Speaker 4: thinking that is wildlife kind of goes all over the map,
• 11:23
Speaker 4: and we do think all of these cases are based
• 11:26
Speaker 4: on the the raccoons that are in the area that
• 11:29
Speaker 4: are kind of spreading it without knowing they have it,
• 11:31
Speaker 4: and that they're spreading it.
• 11:33
Speaker 2: All right, Texas and Tails at your big event April
• 11:35
Speaker 2: twenty fifth, seven o'clock JQ, Diggts and Saltworks and Malden.
• 11:39
Speaker 2: Get those tickets soon, how I mean, you're probably getting
• 11:42
Speaker 2: close to being out, aren't you.
• 11:44
Speaker 4: Very close to being out? I think there are under
• 11:47
Speaker 4: twenty tickets remaining, So if you and your friends want
• 11:50
Speaker 4: to go, now the time to get those tickets.
• 11:52
Speaker 2: All right, what do you need of up there?
• 11:54
Speaker 4: Especially so right now, we're in need of dishwashing liquid.
• 11:58
Speaker 4: We have to spray down our concrete playyards. If you've
• 12:02
Speaker 4: been to the shelter, you know what I'm talking about.
• 12:04
Speaker 4: It's the area where the dogs play. We have to
• 12:07
Speaker 4: spray that down with on dishwashing liquid at least once
• 12:09
Speaker 4: a day. With the December outbreak that's occurring, so we
• 12:13
Speaker 4: are going through dishwashing liquid very quickly. We're also in
• 12:17
Speaker 4: need of wet food of any brand for dogs or cats,
• 12:20
Speaker 4: and period of chowel products as always.
• 12:23
Speaker 2: All right, you guys out and about anywhere this weekend,
• 12:26
  Speaker 2: we're actually.
• 12:26
Speaker 4: Going to be A, T and T Puppies tomorrow.
• 12:31
Speaker 2: Okay, Angel, you cut out, You cut out on me,
• 12:33
Speaker 2: You cut out on me real bad. Where are you
• 12:35
  Speaker 2: going to be?
• 12:35
Speaker 4: Oh? Oh, the AT and T in Kanos City. Did
• 12:38
  Speaker 4: that go through?
• 12:39
Speaker 2: Yeah? AT and T and Canon City.
• 12:40
Speaker 4: Okay, go ahead, yep, between twelve and three tomorrow.
• 12:44
Speaker 2: All right, andew we appreciate you being here, Thanks a lot,
• 12:47
Speaker 2: and we'll talk again next week. Thanks a lot.
• 12:50
Speaker 4: Alrighty sounds good, have a good one.
• 12:53
Speaker 2: You know, sometimes doing this job, as I've been hosting
• 12:57
Speaker 2: the show for almost six years now, I've been doing
• 12:58
Speaker 2: this for thirty eight years, it's when you hear those
• 13:01
Speaker 2: stories like that, I mean, it's just you try to
• 13:04
Speaker 2: be objective. I'm not a journalist. I tell people all
• 13:07
Speaker 2: the time, I'm not a journalist. But it's hard sometimes
• 13:10
Speaker 2: when you hear those stories about the situation with the dog,
• 13:13
Speaker 2: and of course we're coming off the you know what
• 13:16
Speaker 2: happened with Stubbs. We told you that story before, and
• 13:19
  Speaker 2: sometimes it's it's it's it's it's very difficult. So nine
• 13:23
Speaker 2: twenty and again our not me, please put it the week.
• 13:26
Speaker 2: Picture is posted a Dave Alan Radio on Facebook at
• 13:29

• 13:31
Speaker 2: Rico is the dog, six years old. She calls him
• 13:35
Speaker 2: a class clown. Vaccinated newtered seems to do best with
• 13:40
Speaker 2: female dogs, a little bit of pit bull in them,
• 13:42
Speaker 2: but great personality. Picture posted on my social media and
• 13:46
Speaker 2: also you can go to my at dave a seventy
• 13:50
Speaker 2: X page and check it out. Sorry, sorry, folks, it's
• 13:53
Speaker 2: just when I hear that story kind of kind of
• 13:55
Speaker 2: bothers me a little bit about the dog. So anyway,
• 13:58
Speaker 2: we'll take a break when we come back a little happier.
• 14:01
Speaker 2: Notes day's first day of spring. About an hour from
• 14:03
Speaker 2: now is when spring officially kicks in. Mediorologist Brian Hughes
• 14:06
Speaker 2: will stop by to talk about that. Eric Cage, President
• 14:08
Speaker 2: of West Virginia State, is here and we're to talk
• 14:10
Speaker 2: a little dirty birds baseball when we come back on
• 14:13
Speaker 2: the Voice of Charleston WCCHS.

• 16:24
Speaker 2: is going on tomorrow. Has been Blum from the Dirty Bards.
• 16:26
Speaker 2: How you doing, my friend? Welcome to the show.
• 16:27
Speaker 5: Don't well, Dave good to don't well?
• 16:29
Speaker 2: All right? Thank you for being here because you know
• 16:31
Speaker 2: I said this before. Uh with the and we're talking
• 16:34
Speaker 2: to Brian Hughes coming up a little bit later on.
• 16:35
Speaker 2: With a winter that we've had, we all need some
• 16:38
Speaker 2: baseball in our lives. We do, we do, And you
• 16:41
Speaker 2: got fan Fest going on tomorrow, tell us about it.
• 16:44
Speaker 5: Yeah, So we have fan Fast tomorrow.
• 16:47
Speaker 9: It's celebrating the ticket launch of individual tickets for the
• 16:50
Speaker 9: baseball season. We're going to have free entry to the ballpark,
• 16:53
Speaker 9: free minigolf inflatables on the field.
• 16:56
Speaker 5: There's going to be at least eight of those.
• 16:58
Speaker 9: And uh, you know, we've got some half rice appetizers
• 17:00
Speaker 9: for new items that we've got this year for the
• 17:02
Speaker 9: baseball season. We're doing like a three or four hot dog,
• 17:04
Speaker 9: which is a double dog on a big long bun,
• 17:09
Speaker 9: and then we're doing a buffalo chicken sandwich.
• 17:11
Speaker 5: It's gonna be really long too.
• 17:12
Speaker 2: So I'm speak both of those. Oh yeah, yeah, And
• 17:16
Speaker 2: I always thow it out to you if you ever
• 17:17
Speaker 2: need anybody to come and you know, be a taste tester. Brian,
• 17:21
Speaker 2: my producer, and I were right there.
• 17:22
Speaker 5: Well we need you all right, Well there you go.
• 17:24
Speaker 2: Always well road trip, road trip, road trip, road trip
• 17:27
Speaker 2: across this A lot of stuff does go. I mean
• 17:29
Speaker 2: every year, what what for years when it comes to baseball,
• 17:32
Speaker 2: whether it's Major League or you know, whatever, it was
• 17:35
Speaker 2: always you went to the ballpark, you had a hot dog,
• 17:37
Speaker 2: you had a beer, you got pretzels, popcorn, you know,
• 17:39
Speaker 2: whatever the case may be. And that was pretty much it.
• 17:41
Speaker 2: It has become a national obsession now ballpark food.
• 17:45
Speaker 9: Oh yeah, yeah, you know, I mean we uh, last
• 17:48
Speaker 9: year we had like a like a hot chicken honey
• 17:52
Speaker 9: waffle sandwich and it was a lot but it was
• 17:55
Speaker 9: really good and people loved it. The downside is that
• 17:58
Speaker 9: it was a lot to say.
• 18:01
Speaker 2: And a lot of calories.
• 18:03
Speaker 5: Well yeah, that was that and we were.
• 18:05
Speaker 2: About the third inning. If you if you order one
• 18:07
  Speaker 2: in the first.
• 18:09
  Speaker 5: That's for sure.
• 18:10
Speaker 9: So you know, we're excited to kind of bring things
• 18:12
Speaker 9: a little closer to baseball. The buffalo chicken sandwich is
• 18:15
Speaker 9: definitely a step out there, but you know, I think
• 18:18
Speaker 9: that you know that plus all the ballpark favorites, the
• 18:21
Speaker 9: big huge pretzel, the you know, cold beers and hot
• 18:24
  Speaker 9: dogs and burgers.
• 18:24
Speaker 2: And it's going to be a beautiful day tomorrow. I mean,
• 18:28
Speaker 2: this was going to be a fantastic weekend. Looks like
• 18:30
Speaker 2: we might have a little rain like late tonight and
• 18:32
Speaker 2: possibly very late on Sunday, but tomorrow would be a
• 18:35
Speaker 2: great day to come over to the ballpark and and
• 18:37
Speaker 2: that kind of environment to bring the family out, just
• 18:40
Speaker 2: walk around a little bit, just doesn't cost anything to
• 18:42
Speaker 2: get in, So just to get to hang out the
• 18:44
Speaker 2: ballpark a little bit on a Saturday afternoon, Saturday morning
• 18:46
  Speaker 2: into afternoon.
• 18:47
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, it's ended too, So you know, we're really excited.
• 18:51
Speaker 9: I think that you know, we're also going to do
• 18:53
Speaker 9: the first fifty people that get there are getting tickets
• 18:56
Speaker 9: to the home run derby. Okay, you know, it's a
• 18:58
Speaker 9: quick giveaway for people to come early. But you know,
• 19:01
Speaker 9: I think that the excitement is just that the ballpark's
• 19:04
Speaker 9: here again, we're open, and we're we're excited about baseball.
• 19:08
Speaker 2: All right. And we interviewed Mayor good One a couple
• 19:10
Speaker 2: of weeks ago about you know, the working on the
• 19:13
Speaker 2: least getting everything, you know, taking care of their So
• 19:15
Speaker 2: we'll have some progress, I'm sure to report there. We
• 19:17
Speaker 2: got Marshall WVU coming to go markin Ballpark talking about that.
• 19:21
Speaker 9: Tickets go on sale shortly ten am today, So Marshall
• 19:24
Speaker 9: W's May fifth, six pm. W will be the home team.
• 19:29
Speaker 9: Marshall will be the away team this year. So if
• 19:31
Speaker 9: you want to sit on either side, WVU is on
• 19:33
Speaker 9: the first base side, Marshall third base side. This year
• 19:38
Speaker 9: they kind of swap back and forth, but you know,
• 19:40
Speaker 9: it's it's definitely one of the biggest days of the
• 19:42
Speaker 9: year for us. We're always excited to bring the guys
• 19:44
Speaker 9: from WV and Marshall down and showcase their talent to
• 19:47
  Speaker 9: all of Charleston.
• 19:48
Speaker 2: Well, and everybody comes out for it.
• 19:50
  Speaker 1: You know.
• 19:50
Speaker 2: That's the thing about it is people, as you said,
• 19:52
Speaker 2: the WVU fans, the Marshall fans and just and as
• 19:55
Speaker 2: I say this all the time, you can be fans
• 19:58
Speaker 2: of both. You can be fans of both. You can
• 20:00
Speaker 2: have your rooting interest in that game, but you can't
• 20:02
Speaker 2: be fans of both. And we've seen Marshall particularly play
• 20:05
Speaker 2: a lot of games over Gomart Ballpark over the years.
• 20:08
Speaker 9: Yeah, they did while they were building their stadium. They
• 20:11
Speaker 9: did their whole season with us a couple of years ago.
• 20:13
Speaker 9: It was it was a lot of fun, you know.
• 20:15
Speaker 9: I mean, it's just it's amazing when you get the
• 20:17
Speaker 9: two together. What the draw looks like. It really doesn't
• 20:20
Speaker 9: matter the sport, to be honest, but uh, you know,
• 20:23
Speaker 9: we we love it with baseball, of course, but uh,
• 20:26
Speaker 9: you know, we're we're super excited for that again. You know,
• 20:29
Speaker 9: it's it's one of the biggest days of the year,
• 20:31
Speaker 9: draws so many people. The ballpark sold out real quick
• 20:34
Speaker 9: last year, so you know it's it's real exciting. Last
• 20:37
Speaker 9: year we were trying to figure out where could we
• 20:39
Speaker 9: put more tickets. We created like outfield sections of standing
• 20:43
Speaker 9: room only and all kinds of.
• 20:44
Speaker 2: Fun standing room and the concession stand. You know whatever. Whatever,
• 20:47
Speaker 2: whatever it takes, you talk about.
• 20:49
Speaker 5: You to work. That's fun.
• 20:50
Speaker 2: It's been blowing again from the Charleston Dirty Birds fan
• 20:53
Speaker 2: fest going. I know, those tickets for WV. Marshall though,
• 20:56
Speaker 2: go until at ten o'clock this morning on the website.
• 20:58
Speaker 5: Correct and uh u yeah, and.
• 21:00
Speaker 9: People want to come over. We're always at the office
• 21:02
Speaker 9: nine to five Monday through Friday. So you know, if
• 21:05
Speaker 9: they want to come over today and buy them, they
• 21:06
Speaker 9: don't need to go to the box office and just
• 21:08
Speaker 9: go right up to Sweet two o one and see
• 21:09
  Speaker 9: anyone inside.
• 21:10
Speaker 2: We can help they And you probably should plan on
• 21:12
Speaker 2: getting your tickets early. I would think, I mean, we
• 21:14
Speaker 2: don't want to put a rush. I mean, but you know,
• 21:16
Speaker 2: panic buy on it. But those tickets, as you said, Ben,
• 21:19
Speaker 2: go do go very quickly.
• 21:20
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 21:21
  Speaker 9: I would say that if you're if you're bringing a
• 21:23
Speaker 9: pretty semi large group of people four plus, you probably
• 21:26
Speaker 9: want to start looking in the next couple of days
• 21:28
  Speaker 9: for sure.
• 21:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, and those tickets again go online Dirty birds baseball
• 21:31
Speaker 2: dot com at ten this morning or you can is
• 21:33
Speaker 2: he said, get them in person? What U And we're
• 21:36
Speaker 2: going to have you guys on for opening Day. We
• 21:38
Speaker 2: always do and a couple of players come in. Your
• 21:40
Speaker 2: manager and Andy usually comes over for it too. What
• 21:42
Speaker 2: are you looking forward to most about this upcoming season?
• 21:45
Speaker 9: You know, I think that uh, you know, I've been
• 21:47
Speaker 9: working with PJ a lot and the manager for the team,
• 21:49
Speaker 9: and you know, we did our visa application and we
• 21:52
Speaker 9: brought in some guys that are Dominican Republic pictures and
• 21:56
Speaker 9: this is the first year that I've heard the excitement
• 21:58
Speaker 9: and his voice, you know, and he's been with us.
• 22:00
Speaker 9: This is i think his third year, and he's really
• 22:03
Speaker 9: excited about the season.
• 22:04
Speaker 5: You know, we got the visa.
• 22:05
Speaker 9: Approval early, which was great, and you know, he's just
• 22:09
Speaker 9: he's so excited. So I'm really looking forward to, you know,
• 22:12
Speaker 9: bringing back some familiar faces, but changing things up and
• 22:17
Speaker 9: seeing if we can make a deep, deep run.
• 22:19
Speaker 2: And that's the nature of this baseball at this level.
• 22:22
Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, so, I mean, to be honest
• 22:24
Speaker 2: with you, it's in the nature of sports on any
• 22:25
Speaker 2: level these days, even in college with anil and whatnot
• 22:28
Speaker 2: with the transfer portal. But you bring in different guys,
• 22:31
Speaker 2: but but you also have those that have been there
• 22:34
Speaker 2: for a couple of years as well. And it's a
• 22:35
Speaker 2: great it's a great brand of baseball at Go Mar Ballpark.
• 22:39
  Speaker 2: He really is.
• 22:39
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 22:40
Speaker 9: I mean, we we branded ourselves and we chose to
• 22:42
Speaker 9: be more fan friendly than most and you know, I
• 22:45
Speaker 9: mean that's our goal is to make it so that
• 22:47
Speaker 9: the players aren't foreign to the kiddos and the guests
• 22:50
Speaker 9: and the customers that we have. You know, one of
• 22:53
Speaker 9: the guys that we've we've got contracted this year, there's
• 22:56
Speaker 9: two that I know that we're here with us last year,
• 22:58
Speaker 9: three three that I know, and that's just the beginning.
• 23:02
Speaker 5: Those are just the Dominican guys.
• 23:03
Speaker 9: But Edison Serreel was the fan favorite two years ago
• 23:07
  Speaker 9: and he's back again and he's just he's a he's
• 23:09
Speaker 9: a bow full of energy. And Christopher Rogonde is just
• 23:12
Speaker 9: a really big presence.
• 23:13
  Speaker 5: He's a huge guy.
• 23:15
Speaker 2: Literally, when is opening.
• 23:17
Speaker 9: Days, Opening days April twenty fifth, really looking forward to
• 23:22
Speaker 9: home as a Tuesday, which is kind of strange, but
• 23:24
Speaker 9: you know, We're opening at home and then we'll have
• 23:27
Speaker 9: the weekend off and then come back for a full week.
• 23:30
Speaker 2: What when it comes to the I mean, you talked
• 23:34
Speaker 2: about some of the changes of the team, but what
• 23:37
Speaker 2: are some big events, some special nights that the Dirty
• 23:39
Speaker 2: Birds have planned for this year.
• 23:41
Speaker 9: Well, we have a Jason Williams bobblehead night and he's
• 23:44
Speaker 9: going to be there really excited for that. It's white chocolate, right,
• 23:48
  Speaker 9: so that's that's exciting. We've got a lot of unique
• 23:52
Speaker 9: events this year. Definitely bringing back a lot of the
• 23:55
Speaker 9: favorites that drew a lot of people last year, but
• 23:58
Speaker 9: a lot of our focus is on on kids, families,
• 24:01
Speaker 9: friends and fun, so you know, the Blue Knights, those
• 24:04
Speaker 9: types of things will be back.
• 24:06
  Speaker 5: You know.
• 24:07
Speaker 9: The big focus is when we have a theme, we
• 24:09
Speaker 9: want to make it the theme for the day, and
• 24:10
Speaker 9: we want to make sure that you know, we buy
• 24:12
Speaker 9: in just as much as our customers do.
• 24:14
Speaker 5: So I think it's going to be really exciting.
• 24:16
Speaker 2: We had a text here somebody sent me a picture
• 24:18
Speaker 2: and it says, have you seen the take Me Out
• 24:20
Speaker 2: to the Ballgame Shake? That will premiere at Arizona Diamondbak Stadium.
• 24:24
Speaker 2: Salted caramel flavored shake stockpiled with peanut butter cookies, kit
• 24:28
Speaker 2: cat bars, crackerjack pieces, and whip cream. We need something
• 24:32
Speaker 2: like this at Gomart Ballpark.
• 24:34
Speaker 5: You know, it sounds delicious.
• 24:37
Speaker 2: And looking at this picture and everything gets said, it's
• 24:39
Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty eight dollars.
• 24:42
Speaker 5: That's going to be well, we don't want that version.
• 24:46
Speaker 2: Maybe a smaller version.
• 24:47
Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe a smaller version.
• 24:49
Speaker 9: We are expanding the kids area and the grab and
• 24:54
Speaker 9: go right behind home plate that we had from last year.
• 24:57
Speaker 9: It's got a cotton candy machine and we have some
• 24:59
Speaker 9: exciting things that we're doing there. So maybe that would
• 25:02
Speaker 9: be a great place for this this shake.
• 25:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, the take Me out to the Ballgame shake Tate
• 25:08
Speaker 2: take Me sponsored bi ozempic. Anything says a text or
• 25:13
Speaker 2: anything planned for the nation's two hundred fiftieth.
• 25:15
Speaker 5: Birthday, definitely, you know.
• 25:17
Speaker 9: I mean we're not at home on July fourth, but
• 25:20
Speaker 9: the closest we get there, we always do an Independence
• 25:23
  Speaker 9: Day celebration and.
• 25:24
Speaker 2: This is going to be on steroids, I guess, because
• 25:26
Speaker 2: it's you know, two hundred and fifty.
• 25:28
Speaker 9: Yeah, it'll be. It'll be a big day for sure.
• 25:30
Speaker 9: I know that the fireworks show that we have. The
• 25:32
Speaker 9: Saturday closest is going to be the biggest of the year.
• 25:35
Speaker 2: All right, sounds good, Ben, I appreciate you stopping by
• 25:37
Speaker 2: the studio. Man, thanks a lot.
• 25:38

• 26:05
Speaker 2: get those in person. Don't as he said he do.
• 26:07
Speaker 2: You don't have to go to the box office. Just
• 26:09
Speaker 2: hop on the elevator and go up to the suite
• 26:11
Speaker 2: where the offices. Pretty nice offices up there too. By
• 26:13
Speaker 2: the way, I'm envious every time I go at it or
• 26:15
Speaker 2: hang out with you guys, I'm very envious. I mean,
• 26:18
Speaker 2: any it's got of you. I mean, I've tried to
• 26:21
Speaker 2: tell him here. I said, you know, I think I
• 26:23
Speaker 2: could do this show much better if you let me
• 26:24
Speaker 2: have an office over at the ballpark, you know, And
• 26:26
Speaker 2: it kind of fell on deaf fiers. I guess that
• 26:28
Speaker 2: whole I got to be close to the studio thing,
• 26:30
Speaker 2: I guess. But go to a dirty Bridge baseball dot
• 26:33
Speaker 2: com for the W. Marshall tickets. You can get them
• 26:36
Speaker 2: there or get them in person. But probably Ben said,
• 26:39
Speaker 2: if you're planning on bringing it, because a lot of
• 26:41
Speaker 2: people do four five, six people and you want your
• 26:43
Speaker 2: seats in a row, you probably should try to get
• 26:45
Speaker 2: him sometime over the next couple of days that it
• 26:47
Speaker 2: more than likely will sell out. Ben well, I'm from
• 26:49
Speaker 2: the Dirty Birds. Appreciate you being here. Man, Thanks a lot.
• 26:51
Speaker 2: Are we going to take a break? Wouldn't we come back?
• 26:53

Speaker 5: It has been Thanks for having me back, Dave.
• 30:04
Speaker 2: I want to talk about a couple of days I show.
• 30:06
Speaker 2: You gave your State of the University speech. What did
• 30:09
Speaker 2: you say to the folks in them?
• 30:11
Speaker 12: Well, you know what I said, Dave, was the state
• 30:14
Speaker 12: of the university is strong. And it was a great
• 30:18
Speaker 12: day to deliver my address because we also celebrated our
• 30:22
Speaker 12: one hundred and thirty fifth year anniversary since our founding
• 30:26
Speaker 12: as an eighteen ninety Land Grant university. So what I
• 30:30
Speaker 12: really did was reflected on the journey that we have
• 30:33
Speaker 12: traveled together as a university as we've carried out our
• 30:37
Speaker 12: mission of transforming lives through excellence in education. West Virginia
• 30:42
Speaker 12: State University truly is a university that.
• 30:44
Speaker 2: Is on the mood.
• 30:45
Speaker 12: We've got incredible momentum Dave, if you look at all
• 30:49
Speaker 12: of the metrics, we are doing quite well. Think about
• 30:54
Speaker 12: academic programs. We've brought cybersecurity online. We have a bachelor's
• 30:57
Speaker 12: science degree in cybersecurity. Look at agriculture. We're building a
• 31:01
Speaker 12: phenomenal state of the art ag lab on our campus
• 31:04
Speaker 12: thanks to an investment of fifty million dollars by the
• 31:07
Speaker 12: State of West Virginia. We're leaning into nursing and education.
• 31:11
Speaker 12: This may will graduate our first cohort of doctoral students,
• 31:15
Speaker 12: our first doctorate in the history of university eded and
• 31:18
Speaker 12: leadership studies. And on the fundraising side, we've launched a
• 31:21
Speaker 12: capital campaign, a campaign to raise twenty five million dollars
• 31:25
Speaker 12: over five years, and already in year two, Dave, we
• 31:28
Speaker 12: are at ninety seven percent to go. So no matter
• 31:32
Speaker 12: how you slice it, West Virginia State University very much
• 31:35
Speaker 12: is a university that is on the move, and I
• 31:38
Speaker 12: am very, very very optimistic about our future.
• 31:41
  Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's a lot. That's a lot of stuff.
• 31:43
Speaker 2: You put in about about a minute and a half tibsolute.
• 31:45
Speaker 2: That's my elevator speech. By the way, make sure that
• 31:49
Speaker 2: you notice this, yes, spunking out of my West Virginia
• 31:52
Speaker 2: State University coffee mug that you gave me a couple
• 31:55
Speaker 2: of absolutely, probably use another one. Yeah, well we'll work
• 31:58
Speaker 2: on that same same right. Let's talk about your day
• 32:02
Speaker 2: of giving? Yeah that you had ever we talked about that?
• 32:04
Speaker 12: Yeah, you know, the totals are end, Dave. We had
• 32:06
Speaker 12: an ambitious goal of raising five hundred thousand dollars half
• 32:10
Speaker 12: a million dollars doing our Day of giving to support
• 32:14
Speaker 12: our students and the driver mission forward. And I'm happy
• 32:16
Speaker 12: to report that we far exceeded that goal by raising
• 32:19
Speaker 12: one point one million dollars from two hundred and fifty
• 32:23
Speaker 12: six donors. Dave, Again, if that is not an indication
• 32:27
Speaker 12: that West Virginia State University has on a tremendous path forward,
• 32:31
  Speaker 12: I don't know what is.
• 32:33
Speaker 2: Talk about the importance of your donors, because I'll say this.
• 32:37
Speaker 2: You know, I deal with a lot of colleges universities
• 32:39
Speaker 2: on this show. We got some great ones in West
• 32:41
Speaker 2: Virginia SEVVU Marshall and you see and all these others.
• 32:44
Speaker 2: And but but your donors and your alumni take it
• 32:49
Speaker 2: to another level. At West Virginia State.
• 32:51
Speaker 12: They do absolutely and what I say all the time,
• 32:53
Speaker 12: it takes a village to raise a child and to
• 32:57
Speaker 12: sustain a university. Our donors are an important part of
• 33:01
Speaker 12: the village that helps to propel our university. For their
• 33:04
Speaker 12: generosity speaks for itself, and I think the reason that
• 33:08
Speaker 12: our donors step up is because they know that our
• 33:10
Speaker 12: mission is incredibly important again, a mission to transform lives
• 33:14
Speaker 12: for excells and education. They know that they can count
• 33:17
Speaker 12: on West Virginia State University to be good stewarts of
• 33:20
Speaker 12: those resources, to make sure that the resources that they
• 33:22
Speaker 12: are providing with us, that they are intrusting with us,
• 33:25
Speaker 12: are being put to good work again to support our students,
• 33:28
Speaker 12: to drive our mission forward, and to support our community

• 33:53
Speaker 12: and it is our largest fundraising event of the year,
• 33:56
Speaker 12: an opportunity for us to gather together as a university,
• 33:59
Speaker 12: can unity as a local community here in the cadav Valley,
• 34:03
Speaker 12: to celebrate all that is West Virginia State. And this
• 34:07
Speaker 12: year we have two incredible individuals that we are honoring.
• 34:11
Speaker 12: We are honoring posthumously Kitty Dooley, who we know is
• 34:15
Speaker 12: a force for change in our community. Fine Lady absolutely absolutely,
• 34:19
Speaker 12: who unfortunately passed away recently, but we will be honoring
• 34:23
Speaker 12: her life and legacy at our gala. We'll also be
• 34:26
Speaker 12: honoring a well known leader in our community, Tom Heywood,
• 34:30
Speaker 12: who of course is someone who is again an incredible
• 34:34
Speaker 12: leader in our community and incredible advocate for West Virginia State,
• 34:39
Speaker 12: an incredible advocate for the work that we do at
• 34:42
Speaker 12: our institution. He currently serves as co chair of our
• 34:45
Speaker 12: capital campaign. So we're just excited to be able to
• 34:48
Speaker 12: bring our community together to celebrate those two individuals and
• 34:52
Speaker 12: to support our university. It's going to be April.

Speaker 2: nineteen seventy six prepared me for a highly successful thirty
• 35:15
Speaker 2: seven year educational and sales career. Great instructors and staff.
• 35:19
Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean that is incredible. And I can tell you, Dave,
• 35:23
Speaker 12: that everywhere you go in West Virginia, you're going to
• 35:28
Speaker 12: find someone who is either going to West Virginia State
• 35:31
Speaker 12: or knows someone who goes to West Virginia State. We
• 35:34
Speaker 12: really are an integral part of the Mountain State and
• 35:38
Speaker 12: I am so proud of our alums. I'm so proud
• 35:41
Speaker 12: of our faculty, our staff, our students, and our supporters
• 35:45
Speaker 12: who help us to continue to be a force for
• 35:48
Speaker 12: good in this community.
• 35:50
Speaker 2: I want to switch gears here for a moment. I
• 35:52
Speaker 2: want to talk about the legislative session you just had,
• 35:54
Speaker 2: the that just wrapped up on Saturday night. And I
• 35:57
Speaker 2: know that you spend time on the grounds of the
• 36:00
Speaker 2: Capitol Dome or not on the dome, on the grounds
• 36:03
Speaker 2: of that they frown upon that on the grounds if
• 36:07
Speaker 2: you're taking the legislative session overall.
• 36:09
Speaker 12: Yeah, I can say with respective West Virginia State University,
• 36:13
Speaker 12: we had a very very successful legislative session and I
• 36:16
Speaker 12: want to certainly personally thank all the members of the
• 36:20
Speaker 12: legislature and the governor for standing with state. We had
• 36:25
Speaker 12: a number of priorities when we began. Every year we
• 36:28
Speaker 12: asked for state support for our federal land grant match.
• 36:32
Speaker 12: This year the number was five million dollars. That's what
• 36:35
Speaker 12: we asked for. That was exactly what we received. Obviously,
• 36:39
Speaker 12: we received new money on the table for expansion of
• 36:42
Speaker 12: our LPN the BSN program. Two hundred and fifty thousand
• 36:44
Speaker 12: dollars was approved for West Virginia State University. Respect to
• 36:49
Speaker 12: our base appropriations, we saw increases thanks to additional resources
• 36:54
Speaker 12: to support PIA employee raises and also funding to to
• 37:00
Speaker 12: support the university's ongoing mission. So incredible investments in West
• 37:07
Speaker 12: Virginia State. We are really excited about the work that
• 37:11
Speaker 12: we've been able to accomplish together and look forward to
• 37:14
Speaker 12: or continue our relationship with our legislators and policy makers.
• 37:17
Speaker 2: What else is new on campus these days?
• 37:20
Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean it's a lot going on right now
• 37:23
Speaker 12: on our campus. I mean we continue to make improvements
• 37:26
Speaker 12: to our campus infrastructure thanks to support from the legislature,
• 37:30
Speaker 12: So when you come on campus, you'll see a lot
• 37:32
Speaker 12: of improvements being happened happening across our campus. Of course,
• 37:36
Speaker 12: we're excited about our athletics, our teams, and the great
• 37:42
Speaker 12: competition that they are doing across our campus. So we
• 37:46
Speaker 12: certainly invite any one to come and join one of
• 37:50
Speaker 12: our athletic events anytime of the year. We're just excited
• 37:54
Speaker 12: about the momentum, Dave. I mean, I think there very
• 37:57
Speaker 12: much is a spirit of a renaissance spirit on our
• 38:02
Speaker 12: campus that folks are really really leaning in and helping
• 38:07

Speaker 2: I bring you in when we got snow, when we

• 41:52
Speaker 2: we got you know, tornadoes or locusts or you know,
• 41:56
Speaker 2: something like that. But uh, first day of spring. Man,
• 42:00
Speaker 2: it's it's so officially what ten fifteen or something like that?
• 42:02
Speaker 16: Is that all I read yeah, it's yeah, just yeah
• 42:04
Speaker 16: in this sect tower just right to the top of
• 42:06
Speaker 16: the hour, right, so you know nar normal high this
• 42:09
Speaker 16: time of years fifty eight we transitioned into spring and
• 42:12
Speaker 16: guess what tomorrow normal high is fifty eight. It's really
• 42:16
Speaker 16: not a big deal. This is the uh, this is
• 42:18
Speaker 16: the astrological version of it, the astrological astronomical because of
• 42:24
Speaker 16: the sun changing position in regards to the latitude the latitudes. Now,
• 42:31
Speaker 16: with that being said, what we look at as mediorologists
• 42:35
Speaker 16: is the true calendar year because you have you know,
• 42:38
Speaker 16: just it starts to spring. As a calendar December is
• 42:43
Speaker 16: the beginning of winter for US. December, January, Favary. Those
• 42:46
Speaker 16: the coldest months of the year, and so we've at
• 42:49
  Speaker 16: them as mediorologists.
• 42:50
Speaker 2: We've actually already been it's been in spring. But with
• 42:54
Speaker 2: spring comes severe weather.
• 42:56
Speaker 16: So coming out this afternoon, we've got a monitor for
• 42:59
Speaker 16: some of the understorm one two those could possibly pop
• 43:02
Speaker 16: up me severe he'll be the primary threats with some
• 43:04
Speaker 16: gusty winn we're gonna see temperature upper sixties and ear seven.
• 43:08
Speaker 2: What timeframe were we talking about because people always want
• 43:10
Speaker 2: to know, like whin Yeah, so I had our old
• 43:12
Speaker 2: radio guy one time, one of my old Boston said,
• 43:14
Speaker 2: people don't want to know whether it's going to rain.
• 43:16
Speaker 2: They want to know whether it's going to rain on them,
• 43:19
Speaker 2: you know, and they want to know that specifically. What
• 43:22
Speaker 2: about my house for I need to know? Four seventeen
• 43:26
Speaker 2: pm today at one twenty three Main Street in Rozafford,
• 43:29
Speaker 2: can you can you tell I can do that. It'll
• 43:31
Speaker 2: be partly cloudy, chance for a shower.
• 43:34
Speaker 16: Okay, but if we do get, If we do get,
• 43:37
Speaker 16: it'd be three, three to six o'clock be the best
• 43:39
Speaker 16: time frame. Most of the rain showers will wrap and
• 43:41
Speaker 16: then after that we have some spotty showers. Possible rain
• 43:43
Speaker 16: showers will wrap up once we get past around if not,
• 43:47
  Speaker 16: just after midnight.
• 43:48
Speaker 2: But this weekend is looking right. This weekend is phenomenal.
• 43:51
Speaker 2: I mean, it's very exciting. You did, good boy. I
• 43:54
Speaker 2: try tomorrow. Mostly sunny.
• 43:56
Speaker 16: Temperature is gonna be the upper sixties to maybe seventy
• 43:59
Speaker 16: degrees and calm wind.
• 44:01
Speaker 2: Today it's gonna be a little breezy.
• 44:02
Speaker 16: It's sorry, been breezy out here this morning when I
• 44:04
Speaker 16: got here this morning about five forty five.
• 44:06
  Speaker 2: Don't ask why I.
• 44:07
Speaker 16: Got here this morning about five forty five, the breeze
• 44:09
Speaker 16: was was actually up, and I was like, yeah, it's
• 44:12
Speaker 16: not bad, but still gonna be a breezy day to day.
• 44:14
Speaker 16: Calm win tomorrow again upper sixt seats to maybe seventy
• 44:17
Speaker 16: and then Sunday, Sundays, Sunday Fridays Sunday eighty two degrees
• 44:22
Speaker 16: eighty two and partly Sunday skies across the area. Have
• 44:26
Speaker 16: you been on the radio before, Brans, I'm well that
• 44:28
Speaker 16: my watch is supposed to take care of this, but
• 44:31
Speaker 16: that's Josh calling. Do you know how many times I
• 44:34
Speaker 16: walk in this studio and Jane Bostick from the city calls,
• 44:37
Speaker 16: Josh Will call, and I'm like, I mean, I know they.
• 44:40
Speaker 2: Don't know my schedule, but yeah, it's funny.
• 44:43
Speaker 16: But some wind picks up for the day on Sunday
• 44:47
Speaker 16: and then and we're gonna have eighty two. But the
• 44:50
Speaker 16: thing I'm concerned about is some severe weather across southern
• 44:53
Speaker 16: Ohio in crossing over to West Virginia for the late
• 44:55
Speaker 16: afternoon evening and I'm talking late afternoon evening, nighttime hours,
• 45:00
Speaker 16: and then you're gonna hate Monday. But I think we
• 45:03
Speaker 16: pull up the song Rainy Days and Mondays, because we're
• 45:06
Speaker 16: gonna be fifty seven back to around normal and rain
• 45:09
Speaker 16: showers in the morning and then driving up for the
• 45:12
Speaker 16: afternoon right and rack to seventy two on Thursday.
• 45:15
Speaker 2: I read somewhere though, that although this seems like it's
• 45:18
Speaker 2: been a severe winter bright, we actually had less snow
• 45:23
Speaker 2: than what we normally have. It just stuck around longer.
• 45:26
Speaker 16: I guess, right, And so this is actually one of
• 45:28
Speaker 16: the top ten worst winters on record.
• 45:31
Speaker 2: And that's for a severity scale, not necessarily snow.
• 45:35
Speaker 16: Right exactly if you will get snow, snow's easy to
• 45:38
Speaker 16: deal with until you get ice and in frozen thunderstyles.
• 45:42
Speaker 16: So but as far as the ice is concerned that
• 45:45
Speaker 16: we had, this is actually it's actually in the top
• 45:48
Speaker 16: ten for worst winters for West Virginia.
• 45:51
  Speaker 2: OK.
• 45:51
Speaker 16: But that's because of the ice and the power outages
• 45:55
Speaker 16: and everything, you know, all those combined. There actually is
• 45:58
  Speaker 16: a winter storm severity ind w s s I is
• 46:02
Speaker 16: what it's called. And we look at those things and
• 46:06
Speaker 16: look at the severity of them. Mind you, even the
• 46:09
Speaker 16: stuff that happened on Monday is factored in there as well.
• 46:13
Speaker 2: That actually took it up a notch. Just a here snow.
• 46:15
Speaker 16: Did we end up getting the Monday Buy and Large
• 46:18
Speaker 16: on average four to six inches of snow. But but
• 46:23
Speaker 16: but you know this bridges and overpasses. Now, there was
• 46:26
Speaker 16: a time if you got under a big squall, yeah
• 46:28
Speaker 16: you had snow on the roads, but it was only
• 46:30
Speaker 16: for a short time. So all this was on car tops,
• 46:34
  Speaker 16: grassy surfaces, roots.
• 46:35
Speaker 2: It's the perfect snows. It was the perfect such a
• 46:38
Speaker 2: good Christmas snow and it looked pretty right, but it
• 46:41
Speaker 2: really didn't create there as you said, people got under
• 46:43
Speaker 2: those squalls, and that would there were some exceptions, but
• 46:45
Speaker 2: Buy and Large didn't create a whole lot of problems. No,
• 46:48
Speaker 2: And so it was. It was a nice snow to
• 46:50
Speaker 2: look at. But now it's gone, and I'm happy about.
• 46:52
Speaker 16: It, I know, because you know, you go from snow
• 46:55
Speaker 16: and six six inches of snow on Monday to eighty
• 46:58
  Speaker 16: two in Sunday.
• 46:59
Speaker 2: On Sunday, that's welcome to welcome to speaking of which
• 47:03
  Speaker 2: I am seeing, I don't know you're a meteorologist. I
• 47:06
  Speaker 2: don't know that you're necessarily a doctor, but we'll just
• 47:08
Speaker 2: go and say you're a doctor. Yeah, okay, I feel
• 47:10
Speaker 2: like I'm a doctor, all right, So what is up
• 47:12
Speaker 2: with everybody snotting around everywhere right now because it seems
• 47:15
Speaker 2: like I haven't had a problem, but it seems like
• 47:17
Speaker 2: everybody right now is battling something and it's all like allergies.
• 47:22
Speaker 2: Why do something about that? Well, I will do something
• 47:24
  Speaker 2: about that.
• 47:25
Speaker 16: We did something about that on Monday into Tuesday, and
• 47:28
Speaker 16: that's that hard freeze on on Tuesday morning and Wednesday
• 47:32
Speaker 16: morning has set back significantly any of the allergy issues.
• 47:36
Speaker 16: So within the next couple of days everybody should start
• 47:39
Speaker 16: to clear up a touch, but we're gonna have things
• 47:42
  Speaker 16: coming back.
• 47:42
  Speaker 2: What happens.
• 47:43
Speaker 16: You know, we had a severe enough winter that some
• 47:46
Speaker 16: some of the typical you know, the bugs that everybody
• 47:49
Speaker 16: complains about, they're going to have a setback this year,
• 47:52
Speaker 16: and that was because of the long term freeze that
• 47:54
Speaker 16: we had. But you know, it's a lot of that
• 47:58
Speaker 16: also is wives tale stuff. You know, there are some
• 48:01
Speaker 16: bugs that are gonna be set back and some that
• 48:03
Speaker 16: are gonna not broods that are not gonna come out
• 48:06
Speaker 16: as as robusts as they had before. But again, the
• 48:10
Speaker 16: one thing that we have found many years of research
• 48:13
Speaker 16: is that a lot of the wives tell stuff just
• 48:16
Speaker 16: gets spoken of. Well, we're not gonna have a bad
• 48:18
Speaker 16: winter because of the loly worm. Well, the wooly worm
• 48:21
Speaker 16: was was not severe this year. The woolye worm that
• 48:24
Speaker 16: you say, oh there's a bad winter.
• 48:25
  Speaker 5: Guess what.
• 48:27
Speaker 16: Those wooly worms did not appear. And yet here we
• 48:29
Speaker 16: had the ice and the snow, and I'll you know,
• 48:31
  Speaker 16: the top ten.
• 48:32
Speaker 2: They're about a zacred as ground groundhog exactly.
• 48:35
Speaker 16: I mean, his accuracy is about is about forty to
• 48:39
Speaker 16: fifty percent. And most of that's because the guys are
• 48:41
Speaker 16: drunk and just just hell, it's just.
• 48:45
Speaker 2: Shining out here. Yeah, let's go look at all these clouds.
• 48:49
Speaker 2: It's shinning. Let's go get drunk and fond, right, Homongus
• 48:53
Speaker 2: hasn't said that all right years after that many beers.
• 48:56
Speaker 2: Temperature is going to uh for the ballpark event tomorrow,
• 48:59
Speaker 2: So because that's you know, with the fan fastest tomorrow,
• 49:01
Speaker 2: I said when I was talking to Ben earlier, it's
• 49:03
Speaker 2: going to be a fantastic day at the ballpark. Of temperatures,
• 49:05
Speaker 2: let's say tend to tomorrow.
• 49:06
Speaker 16: At tend to two tomorrow, were gonna have temperatures They're
• 49:08
Speaker 16: going to be starting the mid fifties by two o'clock.
• 49:11
Speaker 16: We're going to be in the mid sixties, and by
• 49:13
Speaker 16: time three four o'clock we could be mid to upper sixties.
• 49:16
Speaker 16: And by three four o'clock we're looking at temperatures topping
• 49:18
Speaker 16: out right around sixty nine to seventy degrees.
• 49:20
Speaker 2: I got to ask you this because I know you
• 49:22
Speaker 2: are a foodie as am I. I can't get over this.
• 49:27
Speaker 2: Somebody texted I was talking to Ben Blum of the
• 49:29
Speaker 2: general manager of the Dirty Birds earlier, and somebody sent
• 49:31
Speaker 2: me a picture here of the all new take me
• 49:34
Speaker 2: out to the ballgame shake available at the Arizona Diamondbacks.
• 49:39
Speaker 2: All right, so back, okay, salted Terrible flavored shake. I'm
• 49:43
Speaker 2: stockpiled with peanut butter cookies, kit cat bars, cracker jack pieces,
• 49:48
Speaker 2: and whip cream. And they said we need something like
• 49:51
Speaker 2: this at go Ballpark. And I and Ben and I
• 49:54
Speaker 2: have kind of come to the conclusion that if you
• 49:56
Speaker 2: serve that in the first inn and you're out by
• 49:57
  Speaker 2: the third day.
• 49:58
Speaker 16: Right, and mostly because you're in the rest stream going,
• 50:01
Speaker 16: it's all brought to you biozepic.
• 50:03
  Speaker 4: Right.
• 50:05
Speaker 2: I do like ozembic. It helps. It got them all.
• 50:08
Speaker 2: He got all my blood work out squared away.
• 50:10
Speaker 16: But yet here here, I'm thirty pounds heavier than I was,
• 50:14
Speaker 16: you know, six months ago.
• 50:15
Speaker 2: Not the way that's supposed to work.
• 50:16
Speaker 16: I know it's not, but no, that sounds incredible. And
• 50:20
Speaker 16: then if you could just drizzle a little chocolate right
• 50:23
Speaker 16: on the top of chocolate.
• 50:24
Speaker 2: Syrup and then have a and then drink a die
• 50:25
Speaker 2: coke with it, right, because that's healthy.
• 50:28
Speaker 16: I know I do coke zero because then you guess what,
• 50:31
Speaker 16: you can make a coke zero salted caramel crackerjack shake?
• 50:35
  Speaker 2: Right? All right?
• 50:36
  Speaker 5: All right?
• 50:37
Speaker 2: What is your favorite ballpark food?
• 50:38
  Speaker 4: Broun?
• 50:39
Speaker 16: I honestly, it's just a classic hot dog with mayonnaise.
• 50:44
Speaker 2: What is wrong with you?
• 50:46
  Speaker 12: What?
• 50:47
Speaker 2: What's wrong with mayonnaise? And actually I prefer.
• 50:50
Speaker 16: A miracle whip nothing but not on a hot dog. Yes,
• 50:52
Speaker 16: on a hot dog with a swow of onions on
• 50:55
Speaker 16: top of okay, the onions and just you know you
• 50:57
Speaker 16: can get that at Comerica Park in Detroit. And when
• 51:01
Speaker 16: you go cheer on the Tigers, get them.
• 51:03
Speaker 2: Tiger Steve Animal would be very pleased to hear that
• 51:06
Speaker 2: that's his team Mayo on a hot dog meadows in
• 51:09
Speaker 2: or out, I'm out, I am totally actually have you
• 51:12
Speaker 2: tried it. Actually, I will say I like mayo, but
• 51:14
Speaker 2: it just doesn't go on hot dog. Man, Hey, you
• 51:17
Speaker 2: should try it one time. I've actually heard of people
• 51:19
Speaker 2: to do that. Mayo mayo on a hot dog. You went, okay,
• 51:23
  Speaker 2: but he's out.
• 51:23
Speaker 16: Oh my lord, really was violently left bodily, you know,
• 51:28
Speaker 16: at some of your dad's restaurant establishments.
• 51:31
Speaker 2: I have had mayo on a hot dog. If you
• 51:36
Speaker 2: like an niner, look right, a two fingered salut. And
• 51:40
Speaker 2: it did not come from one hand. All right, all right,
• 51:46
Speaker 2: listen now, text says yep, okay, hold on here, yep,
• 51:50
Speaker 2: and I lost the text. You put mayo on bologna.
• 51:53
Speaker 2: No different than a hot dog. It's not bad, says
• 51:55
  Speaker 2: the text.
• 51:55
  Speaker 5: Mustard.
• 51:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, you put mustard on one fried baloney sandwich. Should
• 52:01
Speaker 2: put mustard on you? No, you put make two when
• 52:03
Speaker 2: you would do one with mayo and one with mustard. Rights,
• 52:05
Speaker 2: or you could do mayo on one side mustard on
• 52:07
Speaker 2: the other. And it's got to be Duke's mayo. That's
• 52:08
Speaker 2: the only Yeah, miracle whip, I'm with you. See, we
• 52:12
Speaker 2: do agree at least on that part of the big
• 52:14
Speaker 2: problems solved today. Here, right, you want to talk about weather,
• 52:18
Speaker 2: and we talk about Mayo all right, gotta go mad
