- 0:06Hello and welcome to episode 4 of Draft Off Sides.
- 0:09I'm here with Tico and Enzo. My name is Keith.
- 0:11How we doing guys? Doing great, man.
- 0:14How you doing? Good.
- 0:16Actually wanted to talk about something that just came to my
- 0:18attention. To start, have you guys seen
- 0:20these McKellar Teta British GQ images?
- 0:25No. Can you Google them immediately?
- 0:28He just did a full, like, cover story with the British GQ and
- 0:33they're not that bad, but I just feel like it's just such a weird
- 0:36look, like right before you start a season as a professional
- 0:39and then like, having you dress up.
- 0:41My God, it's just bizarre. What is that pull?
- 0:45What he's wearing, Yeah. I mean, it's not, there's not
- 0:50any single one that's like that egregious, but it's just the,
- 0:52it's just the collective, you know, it's like the sum of the
- 0:55parts, the sum of the photos is greater than the whole, just the
- 0:57crediness, you know? He's fucking posing.
- 1:00So weird, man. And he's got the same looking.
- 1:02I'm sorry man. Look, I'm gonna say for someone
- 1:05that's spent over 500,000,000 / 3 years and hasn't won anything,
- 1:09he doesn't deserve to be on GQ. Can't be honest, I just.
- 1:13I just can't. I just don't think like anyone
- 1:15should take him seriously after this.
- 1:17Like this is not a very this does not seem like a serious man
- 1:20to me. Like, serious men do not wear
- 1:23helmet laying tracksuits. You know what serious men do.
- 1:28I'm gonna throw it out there right now in January, it's gonna
- 1:31be either you're gonna see the #Arteta out, that's what you're
- 1:35gonna see in January. When you're in.
- 1:38When you're in. Honestly, after seeing this
- 1:42cover photo, I I don't know if Arsenal's winning the EPL
- 1:46anymore. That's what I mean.
- 1:48It doesn't instill confidence. Let's just put it that way.
- 1:50Like nothing is that bad, but it just does not make me like, does
- 1:54not give me a lot of faith, Harry Kane.
- 1:57So yesterday there was news that there was an ultimatum, was on
- 2:02the buyer and offered €100 million.
- 2:05He had 24 hours to accept. It was like it seemed like a
- 2:08hostage negotiation. Seems like a James Bond hostage
- 2:12negotiation by Bayern Munich. You have one.
- 2:14You have 24 hours to accept Mr. Bond.
- 2:16Fucking didn't work, did it? Cuz?
- 2:18Levy's A stubborn bastard. So do you think he's staying
- 2:20now? I feel like it's still up in the
- 2:22air. I was hoping like I was like,
- 2:23oh, I'm gonna go to bed. I'm gonna wake up and there's
- 2:25gonna be some clarity like, oh, this is awesome.
- 2:27And then the woke up and still no no clarity one way or the
- 2:30other. Maybe I was following it all
- 2:32night. So when the midnight hit over
- 2:34there. They were like, they still
- 2:36haven't heard from Daniel Levy buy me and get pissed.
- 2:38But now they're gonna give him till the end of the weekend.
- 2:41The deal was still on, so it was just a fucking ploy.
- 2:44I don't know what Levy's gonna do.
- 2:46He's gonna wait till the last minute.
- 2:47But honestly, I just wanna get this deal through the fucking
- 2:50door, man. I think everyone does, right?
- 2:53I think there's just nothing positive about this for anyone.
- 2:58But it also doesn't make waiting the waiting.
- 3:00That's not to sell them. If you're gonna sell them, sell
- 3:02them as early as you can. So you could put that money to
- 3:04use. And are you gonna buy a
- 3:05Hurricane jersey for this year, The new one, even if they sell
- 3:10them? Why would I do that, you idiot?
- 3:13Just just to be like what it could, what could have been.
- 3:16Just hug him. Whenever you miss it, just wear
- 3:18it mostly with it. No, I'm not going to.
- 3:21I've already got a Harry Kane, England Jersey Hurricane,
- 3:23Totland jersey. That's fine.
- 3:24That's the past. I'll buy you Hurricane Bayern
- 3:28Munich, jersey 0. Fuck off the more like as this
- 3:31gets closer and it like gets feel starts to feel real.
- 3:33It's like why wouldn't taught them?
- 3:34Some of them like this seems crazy to me.
- 3:36It's not like they're gonna, it's not like they're like in
- 3:38this season where they're like really gonna challenge for the
- 3:40league and like this is their last shot and like maybe if they
- 3:43win then they can convince them to stay or something.
- 3:45It's like, you know, like I think the best case scenario
- 3:49scenario for Tottenham is like getting like 4th place and like
- 3:52making it to a cup final, like realistically right?
- 3:55Am I wrong to think that? Realistically, and I completely
- 3:58agree. Like look, Tom McCain made for
- 4:00last season worst position we've come in in like 8 years and
- 4:03Harry Kane had one of the best seasons he's had with us.
- 4:05So even though he scored all those goals, yes he's one of the
- 4:09main reasons we were at 8th, but we were only at 8th.
- 4:11How much worse can we do? We should be rebuilding,
- 4:14honestly. So let's 100 billion goes a long
- 4:18way to rebuilding. Yeah, I think we're just putting
- 4:23a TBD on the Hurricane saga. It's still still in the works.
- 4:27How you feel about Elisa, Keith, you hear those rumors.
- 4:30Elisa to Chelsea. How do I feel about Elisa?
- 4:34You know, honestly, it's good for Chelsea.
- 4:37It's a little, it's a little bit of a bummer for like Fantasy
- 4:40Draft, though, because Elisa is like a star for Fantasy Draft,
- 4:43right? But he goes to Chelsea's like,
- 4:45he's just, he can even be a startable asset.
- 4:48But for Chelsea, yeah, of course, like stoked.
- 4:50I think that's that's the exact type of player we needed.
- 4:52And I think him and then now we just did a center mid and then I
- 4:55feel like our team's pretty like in a pretty good spot.
- 5:00You know, you guys were quietly spent over 200,000,000.
- 5:03I didn't even know it was until I checked.
- 5:04Yeah, but you know, we also quietly sold over 200 million.
- 5:0723 players sold, 23 players. You know a funny one too is this
- 5:14Timo Livermento going to new going to Newcastle from
- 5:17Southampton and the fee's getting up like 40 million for
- 5:19him. So he's like a he's the left
- 5:21back. But what's crazy is that he's a
- 5:23he was a former Chelsea player and Chelsea has like a 40%
- 5:27clause in there, so they're gonna get 40% of this next sale.
- 5:30So they're gonna get like 15,000,000 from this Newcastle
- 5:33sale. Chelsea's doing great business.
- 5:38Yeah, it's amazing. They really are.
- 5:39No, they're just laundering money.
- 5:41They're still laundering money. It's still, that's good.
- 5:44Laundering money is good business to me.
- 5:46So as long as you're not getting caught with good business.
- 5:50But if you think about, look, Chelsea spent over 200,000,000.
- 5:52Yeah, they sell 23, but they got 11 players and there's a few
- 5:55good players in there. Yeah, Arsenal's also spent over
- 5:58200,000,000. How many players are they
- 6:00bought? 3.
- 6:01Well, half of them gloserize just.
- 6:04Saying how much is United spent between with all three players?
- 6:10170 that was on three players too.
- 6:13That was on three players, two 170, but the other?
- 6:18Teams, you mentioned United and Arsenal, They're already
- 6:20competing for the top four. They finished top four last
- 6:22year. Whereas Chelsea, they need to
- 6:24bring up more players because there's this is, this is a
- 6:27transition. That wasn't my argument.
- 6:28It was the fact that they sold 23 players to actually be able
- 6:31to spend the 200,000,000, whereas also haven't sold
- 6:34anybody, may not haven't sold anybody, but like they sold.
- 6:36Sure, they sold 23, whatever, like 23 players, but like when
- 6:40you really look at it, they really like most of that money
- 6:42came from five guys. Yeah, yeah, of course.
- 6:46You know, it came from Kai Haber.
- 6:47It's missing out. Like it still stacks up.
- 6:50Just sign. Yeah, Tika, did you see that?
- 6:53Now miss another city. No, he I didn't.
- 6:55I didn't watch it. He missed another one.
- 6:57Yeah, so I I just tweeted from our official account.
- 7:01Mason now is one more mish tapping away from the curse
- 7:03being complete and him turning into Davy Jones who's the pirate
- 7:06guy with the tentacles from Pirates of the Caribbean.
- 7:09I like, you know, soccer's the one thing in my life where I
- 7:12like like wish ill on other people.
- 7:15Like everything else in my life, I'm like super positive, like
- 7:17wish everyone the best. Like I want like negative energy
- 7:19soccer. I'm just like suffer like you
- 7:21deserve this, but you deserve this pain.
- 7:25I'm saying that's just some of the culture, man, but.
- 7:28It's funny because whenever, let's say if it's a big game and
- 7:31my team wins, I enjoy the other team.
- 7:33Watching the other team players suffer crying more than I
- 7:36enjoyed them lifting the trophy, I'm like, that's what you get,
- 7:38truly. Such a such a weird thing to get
- 7:41happy about, but it brings so much joy.
- 7:43I love fucking football fans, man.
- 7:44I love them Speaking of the the only thing that I do not
- 7:48celebrate in that sense is injuries.
- 7:50And Speaking of injuries his Zeus got had what another knee
- 7:53injury huh. So he's is he's either saying
- 7:55he's out for like 4 weeks is he just had a little surgery.
- 7:57Yep. Well clean up surgery on his
- 7:58knee. How do you guys feel?
- 7:59Is that like, is that pushing him down for you guys?
- 8:02Is that he's he's not as, uh, exciting?
- 8:05Go for you, go for someone else before him.
- 8:07A knee injury is not easier. Come back from, you know, I
- 8:09mean, especially because it's not his first one either.
- 8:11That's what that knee injury is, why he missed like half a lasses
- 8:14or however however much lasses he missed.
- 8:16How old is Jesus? He's in the younger side.
- 8:19That's what I was thinking, yeah, he he joined City really
- 8:23young, so it is some in my mind. He's older than he is.
- 8:26It's also good because you know he's gonna get injured every
- 8:29year, so he's kind of getting the injuries out of the way so
- 8:31you'll have him for the end of the year.
- 8:35Jay Zeus is 26. Well, he was probably like the
- 8:38the third striker off the board or the 4th striker off the board
- 8:41right now. He still goes first round, just
- 8:46not that early. I don't think he goes first
- 8:49round. I don't think I take first
- 8:50round. No, I think he's still your top
- 8:53five striker, not the first round, because there isn't a lot
- 8:55of strikers who are. Who else are you going to take
- 8:57over him? I would take.
- 8:58I think Olly Watkins goes ahead of him now for me.
- 9:01Oh yeah. OK.
- 9:04Yeah. I was gonna say, give me, give
- 9:06me. Not yet.
- 9:06I was just saying son, son, Rashford.
- 9:09I don't think even like Son will go ahead of him just cuz of
- 9:12value, cuz of the value and injury.
- 9:15I think. I think that combo, I think it's
- 9:17now you have no argument to take Son over him.
- 9:20Like if I just saw the Mason Mountain miss.
- 9:22He just whiffed it. Yeah, that's terrible.
- 9:24Yeah, it's the curse of curse of betraying your boiled club.
- 9:29Or now it's betrayal. Yes, now it's betrayal.
- 9:37And then also the other one that happened was Christopher and
- 9:40cuckoo for Chelsea, who looks so freaking good all preseason.
- 9:43And then the last preseason game kind of went down with a neat
- 9:45thing. And it's been like they've been
- 9:47like really quiet about it and it's kind of scary that they
- 9:50haven't. There hasn't been more info on
- 9:52his injury. Did it matter where he get
- 9:54injured too? Yeah, but he hasn't even played
- 9:56a minute yet. Lot to hell.
- 9:59So what was his injury? Is this something they haven't
- 10:01given a time frame? How long he's gonna be out.
- 10:03It was it was a neat thing. He just like, but it was like it
- 10:06was like a contact me thing. So he went in he went in like he
- 10:08was in the box and someone made a challenge.
- 10:10He kind of just like twisted a little.
- 10:12So hopefully it's you know I don't think it's.
- 10:14I think the fear is not that it's like a torn ligament as
- 10:16much as if it's like a tweak or a strain but I don't know.
- 10:19I mean. It's better if it's a contact
- 10:20injury, yeah, I think it's way better if it's contact injury,
- 10:23but yeah. You guys got a lot of injuries,
- 10:25man. I think you also Tottenham and
- 10:27Chelsea have the most I think but don't you have like 2
- 10:29Cinnabex for fauna and frigging Chalaba both injured.
- 10:34Balia Shell and for Fauna are both injured Balia shells is
- 10:37like in a few weeks be back for Fauna's is like maybe not play
- 10:41this whole season so be screwed up gold and I'm seeing someone
- 10:46else in this injury report. I don't know if it's really
- 10:48relevant, but Bendakor and so you want us.
- 10:51It is relevant. Why would I watch?
- 10:52He was key, like we were doing really well beginning the season
- 10:56and him going out with that injury, that knee injury was,
- 11:01you could see the change in the team like he was like doing box
- 11:04to box. He was scoring goals, creating
- 11:06chances. I don't know why you're shaking
- 11:07your head, Tiko, because I'm speaking, in fact, did you watch
- 11:09top ten games? I don't think you.
- 11:12That exactly. So let me talk and I'm talking
- 11:14facts. When he gets back, it's gonna
- 11:16change. But honestly, even when he gets
- 11:19back, if we lose Hoiberg. Along with Bend the Call still
- 11:22being injured, who am I going to have with matters?
- 11:24Skip Basuma. That's a I think Basuma comes
- 11:28back in when the folding is good.
- 11:30I bet you if you guys are. I hope so, but that was a good
- 11:33play. He was a good play.
- 11:34I don't know, like he just got totally frozen out by contact.
- 11:37No, I got injured. I'm sorry I have to go back to
- 11:41this. When you said Topping started,
- 11:43very good. Yeah, they went.
- 11:46They won the first match, lost, won, won and then they lost like
- 11:50the next three or four. They never started really good
- 11:53last year. Yeah, we were in the top.
- 11:54We were at least not right. We were in the top four, top
- 11:57five for the first like third of the season when you're talking
- 12:00about until he got injured. You keep out of there.
- 12:05Keep looking. You fucking checking facts right
- 12:09in front of me? Go.
- 12:09Keep looking. They started two and two.
- 12:13Look at the league table. No, no, keep going.
- 12:14You're going like four games. Do a bigger sample.
- 12:19You really want to do this? Maybe.
- 12:23I don't think you do. I'm looking at it right now.
- 12:26They lost some Newcastle 6/1. Was he playing?
- 12:29That was a bad game. I remember that game.
- 12:31It was like within 7 minutes. Alright, moving on, Keith,
- 12:39moving on. So the other thing that's just
- 12:42been really weird to me is West Ham sold Declan Rice for 100
- 12:46million, sold Somaka to Atlanta for 30 million.
- 12:52They haven't bought anyone. They don't any players.
- 12:55No, they have. They bought one guy.
- 12:57Sean Moore from Cliftonville, OK.
- 13:02In Ireland. 18 A 17 year old is a wingback.
- 13:06That's all they bought. And how much did he cost them
- 13:08like? It's undisclosed.
- 13:10So it's like 100,000. Yeah, just like come hang out
- 13:15with us, You can see with us. We're not gonna pay you.
- 13:19Undisclosed, but I'm sure I'm assuming there's not even a
- 13:21million. He's it's from a team called
- 13:23Cliftonville. I had to look up where where was
- 13:25at. I thought it was an Australian
- 13:26team maybe, but it's actually an island I guess.
- 13:30So do you know what like as I'm reading this, I'm just getting
- 13:33these like flashbacks to last year with Leicester City where
- 13:36they didn't bring anyone in in the summer transfer window and
- 13:39then they ended up getting relegated.
- 13:41And you start to think about it like is this a similar like, you
- 13:44know, I think in the Premier League you need to improve in
- 13:46order just to like keep up with everyone else.
- 13:49Cuz everyone's constantly improving.
- 13:50Every team is getting better every year.
- 13:52You know, quote air quotes are always trying to improve their
- 13:55teams. If you're just stagnant, you're
- 13:56gonna, you're going to like you're lose.
- 13:59You know, standing still is losing in the Premier League.
- 14:01So I look at West Ham and I think I was shed.
- 14:05I when I was doing research last night and I saw when I was
- 14:09looking into their team, I saw they're looking to buy Edson
- 14:12Alvarez from Ayox. Before that he used to play in
- 14:16Mexico. Club America plays defensive
- 14:19midfield. Not too familiar with him, but I
- 14:21guess they just want to bring someone else to replace Rice and
- 14:24they. Just kind of running back with
- 14:26just the downgraded defensive midfielder.
- 14:29Maybe that's their game plan. I don't know, but I agree with
- 14:31Keith. But I hate to bring Tottenham
- 14:34back into the fall. But remember we didn't buy
- 14:37anyone for 18 months. We didn't exactly drop either.
- 14:41We stayed in the top 4, yeah, but you guys maybe could have
- 14:44won a league a few. Lots of people.
- 14:46Wow. He would have improved on that.
- 14:48You. Know what I mean?
- 14:51Wow, he's realizing this for the first time that Keef I just
- 14:55clicked. There's a thing past mediocrity
- 14:58you can achieve for. Yeah.
- 15:00Top four was a mediocrity. Alright, we're going Mr. 12th
- 15:04Place. Don't be jumping.
- 15:05Don't be doing that. But you guys also had Harry
- 15:09Kane, so it's a world class player son.
- 15:12So the the team was better. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:17I mean imagine, imagine selling Harry Kane for 100 million and
- 15:21then not buying anyone else which might slap in this window.
- 15:26But you know what I mean? That's like that's pretty much
- 15:30what it would be like. It'd be like selling your best
- 15:31player like West Ham selling their like Talisman and then not
- 15:34bringing anyone in at all. I and I heard like David Moyes
- 15:37is pissed. I think he, him and the
- 15:39technical director like going at it.
- 15:42I don't know. To me, that's like a red flag.
- 15:43I'm like every West Ham player, Jared Bowens now.
- 15:46I'm like, I don't know. I really wanna, I don't know if
- 15:48I want any piece of West Ham in any capacity.
- 15:51I agree. All right, another bit of news.
- 15:56Manchester United officially confirmed the signing of Rasmus
- 15:59Toyland. I know we talked about it a
- 16:01little bit last week but but are we still feeling like like the
- 16:05twelve goals is the over under for him in the season?
- 16:08I'll take that bit, Kiko. You still feel confident about
- 16:10that? You're not.
- 16:11You're not confident. No, I'm feeling more confident.
- 16:13The more I think about it, the more confident I get.
- 16:15OK, So that's me. That's about me.
- 16:17It ends over. See you on that bat.
- 16:18Over 1212 is a push. 12 is a push.
- 16:21He ain't gonna get 12. Man, he might get it in the
- 16:23first month. He ain't gonna get 10.
- 16:26No, I feel like I have to draft it.
- 16:28Yeah, good luck. We have what how many United
- 16:29fans in our league? I'm gonna draft him when you
- 16:32think he goes. I saw him go in like the third
- 16:35round or the second round in a draft the other day.
- 16:37Was it full of Man United fans? I don't know, just full of
- 16:40people. Because there's no reason from
- 16:42the go 3rd and not not third overall in the third round they
- 16:46just get strikers are so rare. Oh.
- 16:47OK, that's nice to do it. Strikers.
- 16:51And it's Man United. So he's gonna get opportunities.
- 16:53It's where not he's gonna take him.
- 16:55I just don't think he's gonna take him.
- 16:57I think for a third round it's a you could get a really good
- 17:00player in the third round, but if you take a risk on him and he
- 17:03ends up, you know, scoring 15 plus.
- 17:07If that's what you think, if that's the risk you're willing
- 17:09to take third down, you know you're not gonna lose a draft on
- 17:12by drafting a player like him in the throw down.
- 17:15Even even if he gives you ten goals, it's not gonna be
- 17:17terrible. Yeah, I kind of.
- 17:18I think third round, if I was like hypothetically if I was
- 17:21like this guy's gonna be great. I think this third round is
- 17:23where I'd be comfortable taking him.
- 17:25I think there's just too many locked in players that are sure
- 17:28things in the first two rounds to even to go before that.
- 17:31The other big one is garvet all this.
- 17:33How do you say this guy's name? The the city signing Vardy all
- 17:37Vardy all the city that big strong center, Croatian center
- 17:42back, pretty exciting player. Seems like he can play kind of.
- 17:46He's pretty versatile. The fact that he's quick, but
- 17:49he's also big and strong. He seems like the perfect pep
- 17:52center back. Do you think he starts every
- 17:53single game? He's a good fucking center back,
- 17:56man. It's funny cuz all these fucking
- 17:58Tottenham targets that we have for the last couple years are
- 18:00all going to other clubs, pal. Torres went to Villa.
- 18:03You know, Vaudio went to Man City.
- 18:05They're they're good defenders. They're very good defenders
- 18:08because Daniel Levy is a pain in the ass to work with.
- 18:11No one wants to work with him. Correct.
- 18:13You could also play on the wing. You play some left.
- 18:16You guys think pet bottom just because the last thing is so
- 18:19similar. Stupid.
- 18:24You're a idiot, but what do you think Pat plays with four
- 18:29center? Like, literally.
- 18:30Last year, he was playing with four center backs across the
- 18:32back line. Well, it wouldn't be the first
- 18:34time our team's done that. Chelsea, you know Chelsea did
- 18:37it. Tony Pulitz used to do it for
- 18:40like the Stoked is. Who was?
- 18:42Who was? Who was that four center backs?
- 18:44It was like. Oh, you guys.
- 18:46Did I fucking remember it? You had like, Robert Hoof
- 18:50Cavalio. Who else?
- 18:53Was it? Galas?
- 18:54And there was one more Was this during like the first Iraq War
- 18:59or something it? Was like it was.
- 19:01No, I kid you not. Check it out.
- 19:03I remember it to this day, cuz it wasn't just one game.
- 19:06You guys played several games with fucking four center backs
- 19:10and it worked out for Chelsea. Yeah.
- 19:14I mean, I think it's different too.
- 19:15If you're freaking, if you're Pat Cordiola and you can play 4
- 19:18center backs and one of them goes in the midfield and then
- 19:20every other player in your team just doesn't have to track back,
- 19:23you just have like 5 attacking players.
- 19:26Cuz I think he's using Johnstone's as like a Beckham
- 19:29Bower. He's having him fucking charge
- 19:31down the field like that, so it'll probably just be 3 in the
- 19:34back with Johnstone's moving up. Do you guys trust that Pat is
- 19:39gonna do the same thing again, though?
- 19:40I have no faith that he's gonna do this.
- 19:42Like, you know, people like he's gonna do the same thing this
- 19:44year. Like he always changes stuff and
- 19:47so everyone's like the I think the Johnstone shout is a good
- 19:49shout. Like he's a very interesting
- 19:51player and he's the defender. You can get potential assists
- 19:53from and key passes and all these other stats, but like in
- 19:56my mind I'm like there's not guarantee that that's that
- 19:59again. Like he might have Kyle Walker
- 20:01start playing in that role, like start tucking in and he might,
- 20:04you know, like he might have cavarti all be that guy and John
- 20:07Stones is like the backup for him.
- 20:08Like, there's just so many options that could happen with
- 20:12Pap where he's just touched the tinker that I'm not like.
- 20:15I don't know. No, I think he's just fixing
- 20:17what he had problems with last season.
- 20:19Remember when they had Bernardo Silverplane left back for a
- 20:21little bit and then they had to bring in, you know, he didn't
- 20:25have those options. So now he's he's just doing what
- 20:28he does, which is depth from bringing in options.
- 20:30Yeah, versatility. He's just getting more players,
- 20:32actually multiple positions. He's just gonna do this one his
- 20:35lab tanker. Tanker until he finds the
- 20:38perfect mix. But I think all that versatility
- 20:40means that it's there's the players are just unreliable.
- 20:43You just can't, you can't depend on.
- 20:45There's maybe like three players in the City side that you can
- 20:48depend on like starting almost every game, and everyone else
- 20:51it's like, oh, maybe they'll start.
- 20:53Like they might start, you know, depending on what what Peps like
- 20:56what Pep like freaking drew up on the whiteboard today.
- 21:00That's the frustrating thing with having Man City players,
- 21:02unless you have Halal and KDB who also fall drillish.
- 21:07Maybe Fallen and then everyone else is probably just the
- 21:09carousel of players. Yeah.
- 21:11Do you think already all falls into that carousel or do you
- 21:14think he becomes most staple? They just paid 100 million for
- 21:16him. That was a thefty price tag.
- 21:19Paid 100 million for greenish. He sat on the bench for a whole
- 21:21year. I know.
- 21:21So I'm saying like, for that reason, I feel he's going to go
- 21:24in a position where I probably don't want to pick him up
- 21:26because of that. I wonder how the Negotiate
- 21:28negotiations go with Man City. They come to Man City, comes to
- 21:31the table like, oh, we'll give you 20 million.
- 21:33Another person says 30, and then just Man City just raises their
- 21:36own bed. No, they just kind of like the
- 21:39price side. They're just competing against
- 21:41no one. We have so much money.
- 21:42We'll give you more and more. I swear they've actually like
- 21:46before the greenish deal. Their deals are all pretty like.
- 21:48Rational, you know what I mean? It wasn't like they were
- 21:50dropping like huge sums. You know like the are you are
- 21:54you. Do you think I'm crazy Like the
- 21:56some of their it was there in like the thirty 40s.
- 21:58They weren't hitting those like 8090 million price tags for
- 22:01players. Feels like you've been listening
- 22:02to Pep Guardio's interviews and him saying we don't spend money,
- 22:05we can't afford that player, we don't spend money.
- 22:08They fucking spend so much fucking money.
- 22:11They spend so much money through the years.
- 22:13And I drink in the cool end is that I think you drink, you're
- 22:15drinking that that Kool-aid from Sky Sports.
- 22:18No, but like, OK, sorry, but they're not.
- 22:19They're not like look at like like United.
- 22:22Look at Arsenal, like these huge transfers, like City was like in
- 22:27that. Like who they bought before
- 22:29Grillish before Gurardi. All OK, let me think.
- 22:33There was like there were players there in the 30s
- 22:36forties. They weren't like these players
- 22:37that they're paying 8090 so they got they got lucky with Harlan
- 22:42cuz they bought his, his, his claws.
- 22:45That's what I mean. How much was Raheem Sterling?
- 22:47Oh yeah, they got him for they. It wasn't 100 mil, but they
- 22:51still spent money on him. I think it was like 6570 mil.
- 22:55Was it that much? Yeah.
- 22:56But even I guess that's that was a lot back then.
- 22:59It's back then. Inflation every You take
- 23:01everything into account. 49, 49 million. 49, What year is that?
- 23:062015, OK. I'm retracting that I guess.
- 23:10I guess you're kind of right listening to Pep too much.
- 23:12Don't listen to it, man. It's all fucking smoke and
- 23:14mirrors. You're right.
- 23:16They spend a lot of money. Yeah, they spend a lot of money.
- 23:22It's like, you tell me Chelsea doesn't spend money either.
- 23:25They just they spend pennies I. Mean they spend money, but they
- 23:28they sell a lot of players. I've said I've seen you guys so
- 23:31many like statistical like bar graphs instead of explaining
- 23:35that. You you can spend money.
- 23:37If you're making money, it's it's a cash flow.
- 23:38It's an in and out thing. You're looking at me.
- 23:40Come on. Basic.
- 23:41Nah, yeah, sure. So I mean I know it's for you.
- 23:45It's hard to understand cuz you don't you're not selling players
- 23:47the way that we're selling players.
- 23:49So it's it's hard for you to get you're a little we only we only
- 23:53do it every 10 years, OK? Like we sold bail, got a lot of
- 23:56money, we sold. Madre got a lot of money, we
- 23:58sold. We're about to sell Harry Kane a
- 23:59lot of money. That's what we do every few and
- 24:01then we rebuild. But we don't just throw money at
- 24:04it cuz we have a tight fisted freaking chairman.
- 24:08It's not my fault. I love how you could say
- 24:10anything you want about Chelsea. You could talk so much shit
- 24:12about them. They're not performing, they
- 24:14suck their this and that. But anytime you talk about how
- 24:17that their expenses, how they buy and sell do business, that's
- 24:20like the spot where it keeps get so emotional, so defensive and.
- 24:24If you look at the numbers, it's like not that bad like they've
- 24:27their net spend is so much lower than Arsenal, so much lower than
- 24:31United's so. Like, whatever.
- 24:34Like you guys, you guys are like, you guys are ignoring fact
- 24:37to like go on this narrative that isn't true, so that that's
- 24:39where I get heated. It's like if you tell me that
- 24:41Chelsea sucks, I'm like, yeah, we fucking got 12.
- 24:43We suck. Like I can't.
- 24:44There's no art there. It's like that.
- 24:45That's the the stone cold truth you're starting to talk about.
- 24:48Chelsea's like spending, overspending.
- 24:50It's like, well, that's actually not true.
- 24:53So it's hard for me to like to sit there and like take it on
- 24:55the chin. That's the longest run you've
- 24:58been on in four episodes, and it was about spending money.
- 25:03Yeah, let's move on. Community Shield is tomorrow, it
- 25:11is Manchester City versus Arsenal.
- 25:15It's always a weird thing with Community Shield, so you know,
- 25:18usually it's the FA Cup winner versus the Premier League
- 25:20winner, but if the same team wins both, it's the runner up to
- 25:23the Premier League. So it's kind of a weird, weird
- 25:26thing is Arsenal, you know, Obviously City got the trouble,
- 25:29so then it's Arsenal got runner up to the league, so they're
- 25:31playing them. Do you guys, is that a game?
- 25:33That's is it like the last stress rehearsal is that's how
- 25:36you guys kind of look at it. Because I remember last year
- 25:38watching Liverpool City and like, that was a really exciting
- 25:43game. It was like the Nunez versus
- 25:45Holland, like the first time they were playing each other,
- 25:47like Liverpool winning that game.
- 25:50It was like, you know, it's like a very exciting experience.
- 25:52Is that like, was that the norm? I feel like or is that I just
- 25:56feel? I can't remember other Community
- 25:58Shields being that exciting, like the way that that last
- 26:00year's was. Well, no, Community Shields
- 26:02always for me is important. If you're in it, it's like
- 26:05you're the best two teams in England, supposedly, you know, I
- 26:08mean, so it's like a it's bragging right before the
- 26:11beginning of season. It's also mind games, if you can
- 26:13beat them, you'll have that over him for the whole season.
- 26:16You know, I mean, I think that's, I think it's an
- 26:18important game for those two teams and it's a good stepping
- 26:22stone into the season. Actually, how last season ended
- 26:25with Man City just snatching the title away from Arsenal.
- 26:30I think Arsenal might just come out and just the way they came
- 26:32out against Barcelona. This is like the Champions
- 26:35League final, giving everything they have, but should be a good
- 26:38game. It's something you want to
- 26:39watch. It's last like dress rehearsal
- 26:41for Get ready for the season. I I just don't think that that
- 26:45indicative of of what the season's going to be like.
- 26:47Look at last year like Liverpool beat City.
- 26:50Liverpool went on to like, stink up their next several games.
- 26:55You know, yeah. You think that doesn't?
- 26:58Do you think Pet plays everyone or he might just thank some of
- 27:00his stars? I think he still wants to win
- 27:03it. I think it's still a trophy.
- 27:04I think they still care. I think Pat pays, plays a pretty
- 27:07strong team in my opinion. Yeah, why wouldn't you?
- 27:11Again, It's preseason, but it's closer to the season, so you
- 27:14want everyone to be fit. Injury risk, He'll definitely
- 27:18use all 5 Subs. I also think like, it's one of
- 27:21those things where if you're a City fan and they lose, you're
- 27:23like whatever it's preseason, if you're a City fan and they win,
- 27:26it's like we fucking won that game because that that game is
- 27:28important, You know? It's like you kind of reverse
- 27:30the narrative depending on what you what you want to see from
- 27:33it. Yeah, maybe.
- 27:36Like, I don't know, like you, you actually made a good point.
- 27:38Like last year Liverpool fucking won it and then they went to
- 27:41stink up, stink up half the season.
- 27:42But they did come back and finish strong.
- 27:45But you know, and Man City came back and they won the league,
- 27:49but I still think it's an important game.
- 27:52Yeah, you know what was funny with last year too, is watching
- 27:54that game, watching Darwin Nunez, and he looked really good
- 27:57in that game. Like he scored a goal.
- 27:58He was just really like aggressive.
- 28:00And I feel like that actually kind of made me feel more
- 28:03comfortable drafting him where I did in the second round because
- 28:07I was like, oh wow, like this guy.
- 28:09This guy has like got it. He like, he has really good
- 28:11instincts and he's like gonna get his nose in front of goal.
- 28:14I don't think I was ever wrong to think that, but just the
- 28:16maturity issue was with him or the problem right.
- 28:18He got that red card and then I think like positionally he just
- 28:20wasn't quite there. Who in The Who in like the first
- 28:24few rounds you feel like is like runs the risk of just kind of
- 28:26being a flop like that. Like the Darwin union level.
- 28:29You know, like clearly a good player in there but just might
- 28:32just might not work out. Is there anyone that comes in
- 28:34mind for you guys either? New team, new to the league?
- 28:40Oh no, no. What's his name?
- 28:42Oh no, no, he's he's gonna fucking.
- 28:45Do you see that golf in the halfway line?
- 28:47I did see that. I'm telling you, man, they just
- 28:51got rid of the Golden Gloves and they've now got a guy that's
- 28:53going to be seeping in Ghosts. I think he's going to be falling
- 28:58from grace this season. I think we we all kind of called
- 29:01that, right? We were talking about that a few
- 29:02weeks ago. I think we're all kind of on
- 29:04that same page like I'm staying away from Manana.
- 29:06I've no desire to have him on a team.
- 29:09I liked how he got mad at Harry McGuire.
- 29:11Fucking lovely it was. That's another player player.
- 29:16I always feel bad for Harry McGuire because I think outside
- 29:19of the EPL he will do very well, just like he did for England.
- 29:23I think outside of United he'll do really well.
- 29:25I think if he went to West Ham he'd do well if.
- 29:28You want to toddle him? I don't think he's gonna do well
- 29:30in the Premiership no more. I think he needs to fucking
- 29:32leave. Go to France.
- 29:35Look, look 10. Hogg wants to play out of the
- 29:37back. Harry McGuire cannot for his
- 29:40life play out of the back, so it makes him look so much worse
- 29:43than he actually is. When he's like, asked to do
- 29:46these things that he is, like, incapable of, that's gonna make
- 29:49anyone look bad. He's looked bad.
- 29:52Not with the boy's feet. I've seen him let the ball just
- 29:54run in front of him and walk into another player's fucking
- 29:57feet and they just tap it in. He's he's been horrendous the
- 30:01last few years. He's definitely not worth it.
- 30:03We all said it at the beginning. He wasn't worth the price tag.
- 30:05May and I paid and it's just it's just showing suit.
- 30:09You gotta understand they got rid of Smalling Sound to to
- 30:12Roma. He just killed over there.
- 30:14I like Chris Morning. I thought he was a grace in the
- 30:16back. I thought he should have stayed.
- 30:18That's not the player they should have got rid of.
- 30:20Like I think change of senior might be good for McGuire to
- 30:23just. Yeah, no confidence.
- 30:27You take away Captain Batch from him.
- 30:31You have a new goalkeeper yelling at you in the preseason
- 30:33match. Crazy.
- 30:36Also if he wants, if he has any shred of hope of continuing to
- 30:39play for England, he needs to go to like a team.
- 30:42That's not, that's not as good that he's gonna play every
- 30:44minute of He needs to go to like West Ham or like somewhere where
- 30:48he's gonna play all the time because he's not gonna play it
- 30:50for United. He's not.
- 30:51He's. You know what's he waiting on an
- 30:53injury. And even then he's he's even
- 30:56behind Veran and Martinez. Is Lindelof there in front of
- 31:00him, then McGuire? Like where does he even fit in
- 31:02that that? That FA Cup game is maybe FA
- 31:05Cup. Yeah, you're not gonna, but he.
- 31:07I think he's him Staying United is pretty much him being like, I
- 31:09guess I'm not playing for England anymore in my opinion.
- 31:12You mean pretty much. Southgate keeps fucking picking
- 31:14him because he I don't think. He's going after this.
- 31:18I don't think he. I don't think he can continue to
- 31:19pick him if he's not getting regular playing time.
- 31:22Yeah, I don't know. I think stalling March is
- 31:25another one that might get picked pretty high and he had an
- 31:28amazing year last year. I don't know if he's gonna be
- 31:30able to repeat that. Yeah, yeah, it's such a weird
- 31:33one, right? Because you know, he's been,
- 31:34he's been around for a while, but like obviously an amazing
- 31:37year that with Deserve be was huge.
- 31:39But I just also feel like the other thing too is Stolen March
- 31:41is they brought in like two or three new attacking players into
- 31:44that into that squad too. So it just might like, does he
- 31:48start every game? Is he even gonna get as much
- 31:50playing time if he if he has a little bit of a dip in form at
- 31:52any point, is he? Out of theirs it's like he's
- 31:55just like big name where they can't pension.
- 31:58So I kind of, I agree there. I think there's a few defenders
- 32:01that would be falling from grace this season, Perfectly honest,
- 32:05like. This who?
- 32:06What? Defenders.
- 32:07All right, so look, Thiago Silva, I'm sorry, he doesn't
- 32:10have no support. It's not about him not being
- 32:12quality. It's about him having no
- 32:14partnership next to him. I think you guys all well, I
- 32:17mean, TS, there's we just bought another defender.
- 32:19I think if Tiago Silver has a young guy next to him, I think
- 32:22he'll be fine. But he's also like almost 40.
- 32:25He's. Like he's like Tom Brady.
- 32:27Like Tom Brady. Level Age.
- 32:29And that's class, man. I know he is, but I'm just
- 32:31saying if he doesn't have that supporting, that supporting
- 32:33player next to him that could like you know help him out.
- 32:37I think he's not gonna have the best seat and it's gonna fall on
- 32:39him cuz it's Tiago Silva. So that's why I think at least
- 32:44I'm I'm not down his quality, I'm down the support he has in
- 32:48defense. Yeah, I I know you're saying
- 32:50like eventually the wheels are gonna fall off.
- 32:51Eventually, like, you know, you know, it's been, it's been, it's
- 32:55been, you know, at some point he's not gonna be able to keep
- 32:57up. But I I think the reason for his
- 33:00longevity is, besides obviously him staying in shape, all that
- 33:03stuff, didn't he get to Milan at like high level when he was like
- 33:072425? No, he's like.
- 33:11He's been playing, no. He's been around but I I I think
- 33:13when he went to like the big clubs, he was pretty pretty old
- 33:17at that age already. He wasn't like a young prospect
- 33:20out of like 1819 when they paid, you know, 90 million for him and
- 33:23have him be the main person. So what is that?
- 33:27What are you, what are you saying with that?
- 33:29So it's just that he wasn't at the playing at a higher,
- 33:31highest, highest level at a younger age.
- 33:34Probably the the wear and tear on these knees, legs is probably
- 33:36not as bad as it would be for someone else.
- 33:38Like, yeah, he got to. You meant this when he was.
- 33:43You're realizing you're wrong, aren't you?
- 33:46That's no he got slow realization.
- 33:47That you're on the 25? Oh yeah, you got Milan the yeah,
- 33:50they keep. I mean, the thing I would almost
- 33:52argue the opposite. If you're playing for some like
- 33:53flu fluminese in the Brazil before that like you're not
- 33:56gonna have nearly as good of medical treatment, you're not
- 33:58gonna have as good of like physio is working on you.
- 34:00It'd almost be harder your your the turf you're playing on isn't
- 34:03as good. The travel isn't as good.
- 34:05I would almost say that playing at those bigger clubs, you're
- 34:07gonna have a better, like your body's gonna be in better care
- 34:11than if you're playing at like smaller clubs.
- 34:15The treatment is gonna be better.
- 34:16Just the pressure on the knees of the wear and tear I could
- 34:19see. Yeah, I see your side of the
- 34:20argument. Another defender.
- 34:23We spoke about him in the past. I think Andrew Robertson, he
- 34:26needs to try to regain his form from 2122 season because last
- 34:31season he just, he didn't have the same season he had but work
- 34:35for a couple of reasons. I know we gotta sit back because
- 34:38in the late part of the season because Trent was moving up
- 34:40forward, but we haven't seen the same Andrew Robinson we did last
- 34:43year than we did the year before.
- 34:45So if he doesn't regain that sort of form where he's able to
- 34:48put in some crosses and walk down that left flank, I think
- 34:52he's another one that falls from grace.
- 34:54I think that is 0% his fault though and you mentioned it.
- 34:57I think that's 100% of formation thing.
- 35:00I think it's just like, you know.
- 35:03It's like the way we're talking about here, McGuire.
- 35:04You're asking Andrew Roberson to like, sit and do this thing
- 35:07where you're just like he's so good at running forward and
- 35:10getting behind players and hitting a ball in.
- 35:12And if you're just not having him do that, what's the point?
- 35:16You might as well just put in another center back on the left
- 35:19side there. Great.
- 35:22Now, and it's also like another one that's interesting to me is
- 35:25like the Zenchenko. It's like runs of cure and
- 35:27Tierney, remember how good he was for for Arsenal?
- 35:29Yeah, for years. And like how exciting he was and
- 35:31how young he was. And then all of a sudden the
- 35:34Zenchenko comes in, They change the formation.
- 35:36Tierney can't get a game because it's just not how they wanna
- 35:38play. Yeah, but Zenchenko's also
- 35:41injured right now and he doesn't.
- 35:42He have a knee problem also. I'm not sure.
- 35:45I don't think so. I think it's fine.
- 35:48I don't recall seeing something like that.
- 35:50I thought I saw something on his knee cuz that's where he got
- 35:53injured. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:55Game time decision. I do my homework.
- 35:58Are there any guys that you're kind of really warming up to?
- 36:01I mean I think all all send down like what we're we're recording
- 36:04this on a Saturday. It'll probably come out come out
- 36:06on Sunday. A lot of drafts are gonna be
- 36:08this week. In the last few days, is there
- 36:10anyone, has there been anyone coming up that you're like,
- 36:13that's slowly creeping up your board, you're getting excited
- 36:15for as we get closer to the season, more like young players
- 36:18or just players in general? Just players in general, maybe
- 36:21outside of the top, you know 20-30 players, more like a
- 36:24little more of like deeper mid round players.
- 36:31Rasmus Hodgland? No, if that is how you pronounce
- 36:36his name, I'm actually here. It's Hoyland.
- 36:40Hoyland. It's Hoyland.
- 36:44Jacob Ramsey, young player for Villa.
- 36:47I got a love Villa. I know you.
- 36:50I know you got injured during the under 20 ones.
- 36:53Was it was Matt Toss or things coming back in like
- 36:56mid-september or something. But he's a player if you can
- 36:59pick up late and he comes back to villain, he picks up the same
- 37:01form we did had last season. I think you can get better.
- 37:04Do you think he gets drafted or is he someone that you're trying
- 37:06to pick up? Oh, I'm trying to pick up.
- 37:08I'm late. No, no late.
- 37:09Like late round pick and just keep on your bench until he gets
- 37:12off. He's that good.
- 37:13He's like, you know, we in my opinion, I think he's a player
- 37:16that was starring for Villa. I think once he gets fit he'll
- 37:18be starring again. He's only 21, so he's gonna he's
- 37:22gonna get back pretty quick. Do you have anyone that you're
- 37:25thinking of, Dean? More of the Tottenham players
- 37:30just. It seems like inevitable for
- 37:33Kane is going to leave so rich Charleston, maybe Kuluku
- 37:36Dovetsky just kind of take a gamble on it and then later
- 37:38around and just stash him. Hopefully one of those suit
- 37:41blows up. Those were the ones that was
- 37:43kind of looking at it as in the hopes that Kane does leave
- 37:47Virgil Van Dyke. So when I had him last year I
- 37:49was down on him, but it kind of. I know earlier I said I wouldn't
- 37:52draft him, but the more I was looking at it, the more I was
- 37:55thinking about it something else.
- 37:57I think Liverpool overall is going to have a recovery year.
- 38:01Robertson plays well. Trent obviously is gonna do what
- 38:03he does. Those were the two ones that was
- 38:06looking at it and then obviously he bounced back here from the
- 38:08Liverpool top 4I. I said Darvin Nunes, I know he's
- 38:12in. We said not in the top three,
- 38:14but he's gonna have, I think he's gonna have a very good
- 38:16bounce back here. Yeah, Liverpool.
- 38:19It's interesting. I was just, I was listening to
- 38:21some some podcasts or something and they were talking about the
- 38:24liver. Like in my mind I'm, I kind of
- 38:26agree with you just from like a field perspective, that
- 38:28Liverpool's defense is gonna be better this year.
- 38:30Well when you look at the and again you can't equate too much
- 38:32to preseason but when you look at their preseason they'd scored
- 38:34like 18 goals and let in like 15 or something like some stats
- 38:38like that. Like they're it's not like
- 38:39they're it's not like they've like you know it's doesn't seem
- 38:42like they fixed a lot of the same problems that they've had.
- 38:45So I like, I I wanna agree with you and like hopefully they
- 38:48figured out in time of the season but I'm also a little
- 38:50leery of the Liverpool defense in general.
- 38:53Still, as much as I like my head, my you know, my heart is
- 38:56telling me yes, my head is telling me no on that one.
- 39:00But the the, the other play I wanted to call out maybe, maybe
- 39:03ends up driving off on me but Maddie Cash for asking Villa.
- 39:06I think, you know, I think defenders that score points and
- 39:09get up the field are scarce and there's, you know there's a tier
- 39:12of center backs and there's a bunch of like, you know outside
- 39:15of those there's first that first group or the first two
- 39:18group of left and right backs. I think he might be a nice later
- 39:22round steal for like a left back.
- 39:25No, no, you're right. He had a great season two years
- 39:29ago. Last season he sort of was not
- 39:32mediocre, who's above that? But he didn't do the same as he
- 39:35did before, so he could bounce back.
- 39:37And then this Aston Villa team. I think he's going to have a
- 39:39little bit more opportunity to go up the field the way he did
- 39:42two years ago with the way Emery plays.
- 39:45So we'll see. I think that's a good call.
- 39:49Also liver mento that you know that that we were kind of just
- 39:52talking about earlier but that transfer from.
- 39:55Southampton to Newcastle suddenly propels him into
- 39:58relevancy cuz if we've always we've talked about Dan Burn, I
- 40:01think I've talked about how he just isn't really a left back
- 40:03and he's been forced to play that position and he did a
- 40:05really good job last year but having like a more high flying
- 40:09left back in there could be game changing mm HM.
- 40:14Talk about left back. Scott talked about Rico Lewis
- 40:16too from Nancy. I think that he's gonna, he's
- 40:19gonna come out this season. He had a great he was one of the
- 40:22ones that they promoted from the the youth team to fill in the
- 40:26gaps and left back for Man C and I think he's another 118 like he
- 40:31had a stunning season, great first season.
- 40:34So let's see what he does this season.
- 40:36He played, he played a lot in the midfield too.
- 40:39He was playing, He was playing in more than midfield too.
- 40:41So interesting. Definitely interesting.
- 40:45I also think Ben Davis. I had him last year for a few
- 40:49weeks and then I dropped him. He seemed like a roller coaster,
- 40:51very up and down and let's get to our Tottenham expert.
- 40:58Well look, he's been playing alongside at center back ahead
- 41:01of. We're trying to get rid of
- 41:03Damons and Sanchez right now. Obviously.
- 41:06Eric Diarrhea. He's shit.
- 41:09So you know, I mean, but we've looked at, we've got that young
- 41:12kid, forget his name now we just got him from Blackburn.
- 41:15Don't know that much about him. We're looking at Van de Men, Van
- 41:19de Ven, we're looking at him. Looks like that that's a done
- 41:22deal. And we're still looking at Tap
- 41:24Sober or Nelson from from Galatasaray.
- 41:27So picking him up, I don't think it's gonna be very good if we
- 41:31get those center back. So he won't get any playing
- 41:33time. Did you see that?
- 41:37Matt Doherty, the former, you know he's back on wolves.
- 41:40Do you think he's relevant? No.
- 41:45Because that's not the that's not the same Wolf side there was
- 41:47when he was on it. Another player lookout for
- 41:50another young player will be Evan Ferguson, 18 year old at
- 41:56Bryan. Like he's gonna be the main
- 42:00focal point up front along with the wingers.
- 42:02So I think he's gonna get some opportunities.
- 42:03I don't think he's gonna score more than.
- 42:04I don't know if actually, I don't know.
- 42:07I mean, he's in school, but he's still young.
- 42:10We'll see what he does. So he's someone that people
- 42:12like, get really excited about in like in like drafts with guys
- 42:17that are super, like really into fantasy.
- 42:22Goes really high. You know he's just kind of like
- 42:23a pressure like people are like ohh he could be the next thing.
- 42:26But he also like doesn't hasn't played a ton.
- 42:29So he's like, I I agree with you like he's definitely like
- 42:31someone to like lookout for it if you can get him later in a
- 42:34draft for sure. But I just don't see.
- 42:36I don't get why he could he like people are taking him in like
- 42:39the third round in some jobs which is mind boggling to me.
- 42:42Yeah, absolutely Mind boggling to me, it's a risk.
- 42:46I also like Harvey Elliott from Liverpool.
- 42:49Young kid came up last year, just got a lot of playing time
- 42:52because of all the injuries they had in the middle.
- 42:56Not sure if he's going to get the same opportunities this year
- 42:58but with the Mccow stroll of it. But I I like him watching him
- 43:02play. I think he not offendant.
- 43:05He had a good he had a good season two years ago and he
- 43:08burst onto the scene. What was it, three years ago?
- 43:10And then after that they brought in Tiago Silva.
- 43:13I'm not Tiago Silva, is it? Who's.
- 43:16Just Thiago. Thiago.
- 43:17Sorry. Yeah, he brought in Thiago,
- 43:19yeah. And then he just dropped out.
- 43:22And obviously Thiago's getting older, so he's injury prone.
- 43:25But he was a good player a couple years ago, but he hasn't
- 43:28really broke back through the into the first team.
- 43:31I know. I don't know if he had any
- 43:33injuries or not. He played a lot last year.
- 43:35Did he? Yeah, he played a lot last year.
- 43:37He played 30 plus last year he's only 20 maybe.
- 43:42But he he started playing more when they had all the injuries
- 43:45and Liverpool season was kind of they had no chance of winning
- 43:47it. But a young kid plays for
- 43:52England. Yeah, hometown favorite.
- 43:54It's just cuz they bought McAllister.
- 43:56And what's the sub? What's his name?
- 43:58Subba slay, there you go. So do you go with the youth or
- 44:02do you go with the the, the players that have established?
- 44:05Yeah, I think that they're they're his biggest issue is
- 44:08those guys ahead of him. More so like I kind of agree
- 44:11with you Tico. I thought he was pretty good
- 44:12last year and he had some good moments where he actually made
- 44:15some really good passes or linked up really well or did
- 44:18this and that. But I I think it might just be
- 44:21he might be a few years out from reaching his full potential.
- 44:25Is there anyone you guys are kind of starting to fade really
- 44:27hard that you're like absolutely not really not really not like
- 44:32him. I think I I keep going back to
- 44:34it, but man Mason, now I just want nothing to do with what
- 44:41about Kai Haverts? Less so than Mason Mount for
- 44:45sure. I think that it's be at the
- 44:46start of preseason is the other way around.
- 44:48I wanted nothing to do with Kai Haverts and I was you know,
- 44:50Mason Mount is more interested in.
- 44:52But as as the games go on, and as you see how they're playing
- 44:55and where they're playing and stuff, I just have no interest
- 44:57in what Mason Mount is doing. You know what, I can't think of
- 44:59any players. I think we spoke about a lot of
- 45:01players. Ohh another one I want to give a
- 45:04shout out to. We were talking about, too is
- 45:05Nicholas Jackson is creeping up everyone's sports as he should
- 45:08be. Starting striker.
- 45:10Especially with? Yeah, especially with the injury
- 45:13to ankle. Yeah, Nicholas Jackson's, yeah.
- 45:15Yeah, value goes up. The other person that I Rahim
- 45:18Sterling, I would not draft him. I hope he has a Goodyear.
- 45:21I actually like him. I feel like he's an entertaining
- 45:24player to watch with his weird running, with his body and
- 45:27everything, but I just think he's in a like.
- 45:30He's like a freak. So you like, I like him.
- 45:31He's a little bit of a freak out there.
- 45:35It's just entertaining to watch him run.
- 45:37You know, him and Rudy gear those two.
- 45:40I I hope he does well because I like him.
- 45:42He seems like, you know, he's always having fun.
- 45:45He's always playing. He's out there, you know, trying
- 45:47his best. But I just with all the players
- 45:50Chelsea has, all the young players, they're brought on out.
- 45:54Stay away, yeah. I think he's going to be one of
- 45:56those infuriating guys that like, is not going to look good.
- 45:59And it's still gonna play one more than he should, just cuz
- 46:02he's on a lot of money and is like old, you know what I mean?
- 46:05He's like a leader on the team, quote UN quote, but like, I
- 46:09fully agree. I just don't really want
- 46:11anything to do it then. Which is crazy today because
- 46:13like four or five years ago it was the first overall pit pig.
- 46:16Like it was going top two, top three in fantasy with City.
- 46:20I know, right? Man, then you just dropped.
- 46:23That's the the pep effect no longer played for Pat.
- 46:27Can't quite get it done. I think Jared Bowman's another
- 46:30one I talked about a little bit earlier.
- 46:31I just think with the the troubles at West Ham and the
- 46:34fact that they got rid of Samacca, they got, you know,
- 46:37they got rid of duckling rice, they they got rid of guys.
- 46:39They haven't brought anyone in. Exciting.
- 46:41I am. I'm pretty off that.
- 46:43And I think another one is Elisa.
- 46:45If he goes to Chelsea, I'm probably not as excited for as
- 46:49as if he stays with Palace. As with Palace, you know, he's
- 46:53starting every game. He's playing really advanced.
- 46:57He's just gonna be like the guy, him as they're gonna be the
- 47:00guys, but if he goes to Chelsea, he's just he's gonna be like a
- 47:02squad player and maybe he'll he'll fight his way into a
- 47:05starting position. But it's just it's an
- 47:07uncertainty that's just not worth, not worth drafting where
- 47:10he's going. Yeah, I stay away from Joe
- 47:13Linton too, from Newcastle. Wow, that's interesting.
- 47:16Why? Why?
- 47:16Why we had a great, yeah, a great start to the at the
- 47:19beginning of the season. But I just feel like the way
- 47:22Newcastle is going, like they moved in from from upfront to
- 47:26midfield and now they just got what Harvey Barnes, so there's
- 47:30bulking up that midfield. I don't think he's gonna even
- 47:33get a spot. Think Joe Willett goes ahead of
- 47:36him? Yeah, it's gonna be interesting
- 47:40that Newcastle team, there's, there's been some big additions
- 47:42in there and so a little bit curious to see how it shakes
- 47:45out. Definitely a little bit of
- 47:47uncertainty even in the attacking line, right?
- 47:49Like if they, you know, like it's Harvey.
- 47:51Harvey Barnes is, is he? You think he's nailed on to
- 47:53start every game for them. I think he once he gets the
- 47:56system the way he wants. One thing I noticed by Newcastle
- 47:59is any player they buy seems to have just fit straight into the
- 48:02squad. No one's had to sit on the bench
- 48:04too long, they've just gone straight into the squad.
- 48:08Tough time. It's getting exciting, though.
- 48:09It's starting to it's we're like a week away.
- 48:11We're literally a week away from a full Saturday of games.
- 48:15Can't wait, man. And honestly, I can't wait for
- 48:17fancy either, but I feel like we've given too much advice to
- 48:20people. I know, hopefully it's gonna
- 48:26suck when everyone realizes that we've just been doing this to
- 48:29lead out them all straight, they said.
- 48:32Not First off, the board or the whole Asamilla team taking.
- 48:38Yeah, we're just like suckers. There's gonna be a good state of
- 48:46games the the first weekend too, should be very exciting.
- 48:50Some tough fixtures, man. Tough fixtures.
- 48:54What are some games you're looking at, Tico?
- 48:56Chelsea, Liverpool, obviously that's the one that stands out.
- 49:01You know you have two powerhouses playing in the
- 49:03Brentford versus Tottenham, That's gonna be a that's.
- 49:05Actually, it that's like a tough game.
- 49:07That's an interesting game. That's like, it's fun.
- 49:09Like if you really like watching soccer, if you really watch like
- 49:14watching the Prem, that's a fun game to watch.
- 49:16It's the new coach, you know, Andrew Pascogli.
- 49:19Let's see how he can handle Brentford, which is Brentford
- 49:21historically is. Done really well against the top
- 49:24six teams too. Didn't they get like, the amount
- 49:27of points they got from top six teams last year was like really
- 49:29insane. So to Newcastle's first four
- 49:33games are nuts. Who?
- 49:35What are they? They got Villa at home, Man City
- 49:39away, Liverpool at home and then Brighton away.
- 49:45That's four tough games to start your fucking season.
- 49:48Really tough one through the gun let.
- 49:51That's like like the we've ever scheduled that, like, hates
- 49:53them. Yeah.
- 49:56How do they do, you know, I don't know.
- 49:58How do they actually sort out the fixtures?
- 50:00Do you know if there's like a a formula?
- 50:03That's a good question. I always kind of wonder there
- 50:06must be some sort of formula, but they're also like there has
- 50:08to be some sort of human touch to it, right?
- 50:10Because I don't think it could be straight.
- 50:11I can't imagine it's straight enough math equation.
- 50:18I heard for the NFL they have the schedules out for like the
- 50:21next few years. Really.
- 50:22So there. Yeah.
- 50:24So there isn't any any, like you know, anything suspicious going
- 50:27on and they just release it whenever they release it every
- 50:30year it would. I feel like that's probably the,
- 50:34well, you can't do that for EPL just because of the relegation,
- 50:40yeah, and for Champions League and FA Cup and League up it just
- 50:45goes because remember, you got postponed games and.
- 50:49Yeah, it seems like there's like a crazy formula.
- 50:51I'm like looking at it now. There's like there's like a lot
- 50:54of different things that go into it, like, you know, which are
- 50:57the schedule, you know, team schedules, cuz some teams will
- 50:59play on weeks where other teams are at Champions League, you
- 51:03know, whatever. And then there's also like some
- 51:04sort of mathematical formula to it too.
- 51:07But also like, you know that they're like, you know that they
- 51:09do, they play certain games. They're like.
- 51:12You look at like the last fixture of the season.
- 51:13There's always some, like really dramatic.
- 51:15There's always some really dramatic games at the end of the
- 51:17season, like there's there's a little bit of like a human touch
- 51:20in there, just to spice it up a little.
- 51:22I feel like there must be. Yeah, I think they have an idea
- 51:25of who's gonna be competing like for the title within the last
- 51:30like couple of weeks. So they want to make sure those
- 51:31teams like face each other among the the elite teams.
- 51:40I'm going to match the last week to see what the games are, see
- 51:43if the conspiracy is valid or not.
- 51:46Conspiracies, Americans and the conspiracies.
- 51:52Tell me not an American. You're not insulting me.
- 51:59Insult you. Totham's playing shit for United
- 52:04last game of the season. Yeah.
- 52:07Oh look. None of the no, none of the big
- 52:11teams are playing against each other.
- 52:12They never play against each other.
- 52:14It's always like it's always. It's always like there's always
- 52:17one of the bottom three teams playing against one of the top
- 52:19six teams, always on the last day.
- 52:23Am I wrong? I don't know.
- 52:26I don't think you're. I don't think you're wrong.
- 52:27I'm not sure there. Who's waking up at 4:30 AM to
- 52:32watch Arsenal play? Fuck, man, probably.
- 52:35Not, man. I think.
- 52:36I don't know, man. I like, I I hate because
- 52:38Tottenham always plays at 4:00 AM and last season that was
- 52:40fucking terrible because I'd wake up at 4:00 AM and just ruin
- 52:44the rest of my fucking day. I tell myself I'm not doing that
- 52:46this year. I'm gonna for the 4:30 AMS.
- 52:50No, I'm doing it. I can't help myself.
- 52:54I think I'll do it for Chelsea. If Chelsea plays at 4:30 in the
- 52:56morning, I'll do it, but if it's like another game.
- 52:59Just hard because what you just said, like my whole day shot,
- 53:01I'm just a zombie the rest of the day and it's hard for me to
- 53:04go back to sleep. I just struggle.
- 53:07I actually go to bed early for those, man.
- 53:09I can't. I can't get myself to go to
- 53:12sleep really. What time do you go to sleep?
- 53:13Go sleep around 9:00 or 10:00, Nine or 10:00.
- 53:16Wake up at 3:30. Get up.
- 53:18Go make myself a cup of tea. Go sit down.
- 53:22Cup of tea? Yeah, man, I'm.
- 53:25How do you fall asleep at 9:00? It's called meditation.
- 53:29Shut down your body. I'll tell you what playing on
- 53:34the West Coast is you have such an advantage as a as a fantasy
- 53:39draft guy versus playing on the, I'm sorry, playing on the East
- 53:42Coast, you have tell you what, playing on the East Coast you
- 53:44have such an advantage versus people on the West Coast because
- 53:47those 430 games you're like, oh shoot, I have to wake up at 7:00
- 53:50to like check my roster. It's like, what's like so
- 53:53manageable? Don't we have a we have a guy in
- 53:57one of our leagues that's freaking in Europe, right?
- 54:01We're gonna have in our other in our league reps.
- 54:03We're gonna three guys from Europe.
- 54:05Three more in Europe. I told, I told.
- 54:06I figured his name was Ian. I said you got major advantage,
- 54:09man. Like you actually get to see the
- 54:11injuries as they happen so you can pick up players whenever you
- 54:13need. Like I have to I wake up at
- 54:15freaking 6:00 AM like ah, fuck. Kulasetsi got injured.
- 54:19Oh. Who picked up Solomon.
- 54:20Ah, thanks a lot. Right.
- 54:24Yeah, I had that a couple of times where I would like, like,
- 54:26oh, I have to wake up at 4:30 o'clock to see who's playing,
- 54:29who's not playing, and then the alarm goes off and I said off.
- 54:33I know. I didn't know.
- 54:34I did that a few times, too. Yeah, we're gonna do this a
- 54:43little ratings now. Sure, let's do it.
- 54:46Let's see. Let's start with top six and
- 54:47then you have in your top 6. Do I do I go from first or do I
- 54:51go from six? Go from six down.
- 54:53Let's keep it, keep it. Drama.
- 54:55Alright, 6 down. So come in.
- 54:58Six in my prediction. And this is going off what I saw
- 55:02in preseason. I know I talked a lot of shit
- 55:04about preseason, but oh, Nana doesn't feel me of confidence
- 55:07and Harry Maguire doesn't feel me of confidence.
- 55:10Man U next, sticking to my guns. Arsenal in fifth.
- 55:16I think they dropped three spots in fourth.
- 55:20No surprise, Aston Villa in 3rd, Newcastle.
- 55:26I think they keep building from where they were.
- 55:29Second, I think Liverpool is reborn and they come back with a
- 55:32vengeance and obviously city top.
- 55:35I can't not say they're not going to win it.
- 55:37They've just won it like nearly every fucking year, Comments
- 55:43emotional outbursts. So go through them again.
- 55:46Just six to one. Just like just a Nips Man U
- 55:50Arsenal, Villa, Newcastle, Liverpool, Man City.
- 55:57So you have Newcastle and Villa in your top 4, correct?
- 56:03Bring it, man. Just say it.
- 56:05That's audacious. I like that.
- 56:08Audacious. I'll take it.
- 56:09Take it as a compliment. Really.
- 56:11Come on, Tikka. Fucking say something.
- 56:14I mean, it's a terrible top six. He's just fucking dumbfounded.
- 56:22You have new, you have Newcastle, you have Newcastle
- 56:24building on what they have, you have Aston Villa finishing top
- 56:27six, but for whatever reason you have Arsenal, who improved their
- 56:31squad dropping, yeah. And Man United, you have them
- 56:35dropping as well. Who got probably a top three
- 56:38striker for the next 10 years in the EPL?
- 56:41Yeah, in Rasmus, so you say. We'll see.
- 56:46So you have those dropping, but you're so high on Aston Villa
- 56:50and? Newcastle.
- 56:54Will we see who's laughing at the end of the season?
- 56:56Puffy. Honest Rob.
- 56:57I didn't even put Tottenham in here and I've got high hopes
- 56:59that we come forth OK, but I had to be realistic.
- 57:03This is me being realistic. Villa Villa in Newcastle in the
- 57:08top four is realistic, OK? Very realistic.
- 57:11When did Newcastle come last season?
- 57:13I mean they came with that for it, but I think that was a
- 57:15reach. I think that.
- 57:16I don't think that was like. What was that logic?
- 57:18Where did Arsenal come last season?
- 57:20Second, like, what is that logic?
- 57:24My logic is, like I said before, they're going to be hungover.
- 57:30They've got, they've added a couple of new players.
- 57:33All right, I get it. Do I think they've improved?
- 57:37Yeah, I think they've improved. But do I think the teams around
- 57:40them have improved also? Yes, I do.
- 57:43Do I think I'll tell? I'll tell.
- 57:44His football might be getting old.
- 57:46From what I've seen on on all the feeds, it looks like he's
- 57:50gonna be trying to play ticky, tacky football like vintage
- 57:52Barcelona, which I don't think is gonna work with this boss,
- 57:55with this Arsenal team. And we'll see.
- 57:59By that logic, though, couldn't you say like, City's gonna be
- 58:02hungover and they didn't. They didn't really add players
- 58:05that improve their squad that much, like cardio better,
- 58:08defender better than that. They lost some attacking
- 58:10players. Like I feel you could use all
- 58:12those arguments and reverse them.
- 58:14And explain why City is not going to be not going to win the
- 58:16league. See.
- 58:17Hasn't finished yet. Transfer winner isn't over.
- 58:19They can still buy a few players.
- 58:21They've added a couple points here and there.
- 58:24I know they haven't added too much, but City's also proven
- 58:26they've won back-to-back before, am I right?
- 58:30Yeah, yeah. But you're right, it's arguable.
- 58:36I think the argument, the only argument you can make is pat.
- 58:39That's the argument. I think you can throw every
- 58:42other piece of logic out the window and say it's PEP.
- 58:45So there is no such thing as a hangover.
- 58:46When pep's in the in the building, you know what about
- 58:50you? What do you got?
- 58:53So the same thing, right? 6 to 1, So it's six.
- 58:56I have Chelsea, 5th, I have Newcastle.
- 59:02I think they're gonna take a dip.
- 59:05Well, it's not them taking dip. I think in Liverpool and then I
- 59:08have Liverpool who I think, like I said, Liverpool's gonna have a
- 59:11bounce back here. Three.
- 59:13I have United, second, I have Man City and then first I have
- 59:19Arsenal. It's very.
- 59:23Safe, safe. Mine's safe too, cuz I'm a
- 59:28realist. So anyway, so go go go back and
- 59:33go back. Just say it quickly again.
- 59:35So 6 Chelsea, 5 Newcastle, 5 Liver, 4 Liverpool, three
- 59:41United, 2 City and then Arsenal was the Champions.
- 59:47Champagne. You can't really argue with it.
- 59:51I mean, I'm glad that Chelsea got in there somewhere.
- 59:54I've noticed that ends up even having them in the top six for
- 59:56him. I'm trying to understand how
- 59:58Chelsea go in there. What is your?
- 1:00:02You think they jumped 6 spots just like that?
- 1:00:07Well, it's not. Just jumping 6 spots, how many
- 1:00:10managers did they have last year?
- 1:00:12It's they bought, they brought the players, they have the young
- 1:00:14players. They have a coach who has a
- 1:00:16system who's been in the EPL before.
- 1:00:19And I do think they're going to get better because it's just
- 1:00:22what they like was goal scoring and with the system coming in
- 1:00:25with Coach. And with the players Chelsea has
- 1:00:28and and also Chelsea has depth, I think that helps a lot in the
- 1:00:32EPL, especially for a young team.
- 1:00:34So it is gonna help them compete.
- 1:00:36They don't have any Champions League to worry about any of
- 1:00:39that. So they're gonna be focused on
- 1:00:40the EPL and I think they're just gonna have a bounce back here.
- 1:00:43It's a good argument. They had depth last year too,
- 1:00:46probably. Arguably they had more depth
- 1:00:48last year after all the players, they just lost to Saudi Arabia.
- 1:00:52Poach is not not a new coach. He's new at the club.
- 1:00:57He's have to restructure and rebuild.
- 1:01:00But I don't think it's impossible for him to come.
- 1:01:03When you say 6, yeah, it's not impossible for him to come six.
- 1:01:08I just don't think Posh does it in his first season all.
- 1:01:15Right, let's do mine. Mine's so boring.
- 1:01:18We could probably. We could probably.
- 1:01:19Mindset of where we could probably just skip it.
- 1:01:21I think 6 Newcastle. I think they're gonna struggle a
- 1:01:23little bit with going to Champions League.
- 1:01:27You know, just playing those extra games in a season, those
- 1:01:29high intensity games midweek, I think it's gonna just hurt them
- 1:01:33a little. Fifth out of Chelsea.
- 1:01:35I think the other benefit that we're not talking about is that
- 1:01:38they are not playing in Europe. So that they're not going to
- 1:01:40have those extra games midweek, so they're going to be able to
- 1:01:42just rest and really just prep for the Premier League.
- 1:01:45I think the one thing about with them is that if they sign Kasedo
- 1:01:48and they've they sound at least say, you know, they sound like a
- 1:01:50center attacking mid, slash one more attacking player and then
- 1:01:53another like center defensive mid.
- 1:01:55I think they are pretty complete.
- 1:01:58They're pretty much where we need to be to be challenging for
- 1:02:00the top 4/4 of Liverpool. I actually, I think they're the
- 1:02:06one that is most likely to drop out.
- 1:02:08Not that they're in the top four this time but as as far as my
- 1:02:10rankings, I think they're the one that are most likely to not
- 1:02:12make the top four. And I think that's because just
- 1:02:14the defensive frailty, if we if we come back this year and like
- 1:02:18the defensive issues are still there, which preseason will look
- 1:02:20like they are still there. Like it doesn't matter if you
- 1:02:22can score 2, three goal if you're not if you're averaging 2
- 1:02:25three goals a game. If you're getting scored on 3/4
- 1:02:28goals a game. I think they I think that could
- 1:02:30be a problem for them three. I have city.
- 1:02:33I think they're gonna. I don't just don't think it's
- 1:02:35gonna be their year. I think that coming off the
- 1:02:38trouble the players they lost, the players they added, it's
- 1:02:42just it's not adding up to a title winning year for me, like
- 1:02:46the math is not adding up to United.
- 1:02:50I think Mount will overcome his early season hiccups.
- 1:02:54I think the spine that Ted Hogg is instilling is strong.
- 1:02:58I think he is finally getting the team he wants and so this is
- 1:03:02more vote of confidence on him that this these are the players
- 1:03:04he wants and let's see like. And that's with the right
- 1:03:08players, because last year he pretty much didn't have the team
- 1:03:10that he wanted. He didn't have the system he
- 1:03:12wanted. He was pretty much trying to
- 1:03:13like plug holes and figure out what he could do, you know, And
- 1:03:17he got a few guys. But it wasn't the complete, the
- 1:03:19complete project. I think now he's getting closer
- 1:03:21to that complete project. I think there's still a few
- 1:03:23years from winning the Premier League, but I think they're
- 1:03:25gonna push and then one. I think you just I think Arsenal
- 1:03:28has to be the favorite, hungry after last year added good
- 1:03:31players and positions they needed.
- 1:03:34That's just to me that makes sense.
- 1:03:35So I have Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool, City, United with
- 1:03:38Arsenal winning. Wow.
- 1:03:42OK, I'd love to see where our predictions actually lay out at
- 1:03:46the end of the season. Yeah, let's.
- 1:03:49I'll write these down and so we can go back and reference this.
- 1:03:54Someone's gonna get shit talked to him.
- 1:03:56That's for fucking damn sure. That's gonna be you.
- 1:03:59But we feel like it's good to be you, right, Lulu?
- 1:04:02If if that comes true, what I just said and I've I've thought
- 1:04:05it out. I am a football guru, OK?
- 1:04:12I see the future. That is true.
- 1:04:15That is actually very true if you If you're right on this
- 1:04:18then. This, this is a sentence that
- 1:04:20came from the person who said Man City is worse with Holland.
- 1:04:25I did say that. That's the football guru.
- 1:04:27I did say that, but I wasn't the only one saying that.
- 1:04:31Yeah, it was you and like those pundits that, you know what I
- 1:04:34mean? That was like such a joke.
- 1:04:35They like Man City. Like, I don't know, that was
- 1:04:37that was driving me crazy. When that was the conversation
- 1:04:39last year, that was literally insane.
- 1:04:40That was an insane conversation for like 2 weeks that people
- 1:04:43were having. Man City was worse with Holland
- 1:04:45for more than two. It was like a month into it cuz
- 1:04:47they got him early. Oh no.
- 1:04:49How long he's scoring all these hat tricks.
- 1:04:51He's hurting the team. Get out of here.
- 1:04:54I didn't say that, I said at beginning the season when he
- 1:04:57started knocking goals like he's a freaking alien.
- 1:05:00The first. Game.
- 1:05:01I know I said no, not just the first game.
- 1:05:04Then he scored the hat tricks in the first three games.
- 1:05:07Two of them. Something like that.
- 1:05:09And maybe not exactly a hat tricks, but but it was like, I
- 1:05:12mean, his goal scoring rate at the beginning of the season was
- 1:05:14historic to say the least. Ridiculous all.
- 1:05:19Right, let's move on Golden Boot.
- 1:05:21What's your one name for Golden Boot this year?
- 1:05:24Just one. Just one.
- 1:05:26Damn, I just got my. I got my safe.
- 1:05:29One, I got my safe. No, I got my.
- 1:05:32Just just one, All right? Then I'm gonna fuck.
- 1:05:36Hurricane. No, I had two, but looks like
- 1:05:40Keith's point is foot down. Yeah, well, you.
- 1:05:43I don't. I want to waffle it.
- 1:05:44I don't want. I don't want you to be able to
- 1:05:46lead. Fall back.
- 1:05:46You know, one is safe, one is safe, one is fun.
- 1:05:51Well, do your. I mean your.
- 1:05:53I feel like your top six was fun, so maybe you do your safe
- 1:05:55one. Fuck.
- 1:05:57All right, Harland. That's so boring.
- 1:06:00I know, man. You want on my other one?
- 1:06:03Sure. Come on.
- 1:06:03Come on, Ollie Watkins. That's right.
- 1:06:06That's mine. I got Ollie Watkins.
- 1:06:10I have. Holland, Holland.
- 1:06:14It's really safe. Don't get wrong and look you
- 1:06:17most people will say that he's going to get the Golden Boot
- 1:06:19after what he did last season and it's just godly, right?
- 1:06:22Because he was fucking insane. Do we think he's gonna slow
- 1:06:24down? Is he gonna score 50 plus goals
- 1:06:26again next season? I don't even doubt it anymore.
- 1:06:30Maybe the lowest he'll go is 40 in all competitions, the way
- 1:06:34he's fucking scoring. Do you know what the only thing
- 1:06:36that's gonna stop him from scoring for 40 goals?
- 1:06:38Injury. Injury.
- 1:06:40Injury. And I think I've said it before,
- 1:06:42but he every season prior to this one, he's been sidelined
- 1:06:45for a chunk of the season with injury.
- 1:06:47So I I think there's statistically, the odds are that
- 1:06:50he gets injured this year, but the difference is he's got like
- 1:06:54game management, like Pep doesn't even play him like whole
- 1:06:57games. He runs his fucking higher for
- 1:06:5945 minutes. He scored a hat trick, and the
- 1:07:01game's freaking one. He takes him out.
- 1:07:04True. Also for and when he was playing
- 1:07:08for a Dortmund, he would track back more, just come back more.
- 1:07:10I feel like now in Mad City, he just hangs around around the
- 1:07:13box, doesn't come back as much, so it's.
- 1:07:17He's just waiting to be fed and just kick and do what he does
- 1:07:20and just score bangers. Holland eats, Holland eats.
- 1:07:25I think Olly Walkins is the reason I picked him and Enzo
- 1:07:28wanted to pick him is I think he's just the.
- 1:07:31I think he's probably the it's just an exciting guy and on an
- 1:07:36awesome Villa team that is ascending and is growing and.
- 1:07:41I just kind of want to root for him.
- 1:07:43I mean I don't think there's like if you really look at it
- 1:07:45there's probably two or three players that are more likely to
- 1:07:48win the Golden Booth than Ali Watkins.
- 1:07:50But I think that he has potential.
- 1:07:51He's I think this is the first year where he's gonna be in that
- 1:07:54conversation. I think he has the potential to
- 1:07:56get there. You know is it is it he the most
- 1:07:59likely? Probably not.
- 1:07:59But is he the one that I is the most interesting.
- 1:08:02Yes. Like big strong guy.
- 1:08:04I think he after, you know, how many more years of England work
- 1:08:08does Kane have? You know, not, not a lot.
- 1:08:10I think Olly Watkins at this rate is the heir apparent
- 1:08:13hurricane for that striker position where how much longer
- 1:08:17do you think Harry Kane has? Three years, one more World Cup
- 1:08:21maybe. And even then if he's if he
- 1:08:24does, is that he start every game?
- 1:08:27Probably. If he's still scoring goals the
- 1:08:29way he is, he's got the EUR and then he's got the World Cup
- 1:08:33offering he's he's in for at least two more tournaments.
- 1:08:37Yeah. But I think, I think Ollie
- 1:08:41Watkins is the next guy, Next guy in line, my opinion.
- 1:08:46Unlock him. Unlock him a lot.
- 1:08:48And he's he's he's like, you know, unlike Ivan, Tony, he's
- 1:08:51not getting in trouble. He's not doing, he's not
- 1:08:53gambling, he's not doing things. He seems just like a good head
- 1:08:55on the shoulders. And I think he's offered
- 1:08:58something different too. Like he's a, he's such a
- 1:09:00physical force and he's also good on the ball.
- 1:09:02He links up well. I think he can.
- 1:09:04Players can play off him. I'm like, I'm excited to watch
- 1:09:07him play this year. OK, Golden Glove, I got 2.
- 1:09:13OK, with one only a one you can Tika you go first.
- 1:09:18Enzo, Enzo, you can. You can think about which one
- 1:09:20you're gonna pick. Anderson.
- 1:09:25Anderson. That's it, yeah.
- 1:09:27Is he everyone going love? I think he's won it once, I'm
- 1:09:35not sure, but. If he does it, he's do for one.
- 1:09:39Things just you think he's just do so you think with that we're
- 1:09:41already all signing the city defense is gonna be locked down.
- 1:09:44I think the other thing that's funny about Golden Glove is
- 1:09:46like, it's so much about the defense, right?
- 1:09:48Like, it's like. It yeah, that's that's my
- 1:09:51logical picking Anderson, you know they're gonna dominate
- 1:09:54possession. The punting team doesn't get
- 1:09:56that many opportunities to score.
- 1:09:58They stacked up on a couple of defensive players and Anderson,
- 1:10:01I mean, he's world class. He's a great goalie, so.
- 1:10:05So you know, they're always gonna dominate the lower tier
- 1:10:08teams. So I'm picking Edison.
- 1:10:13Enzo, go for it. I'm going villare again, man.
- 1:10:17Martinez. And you're talking about
- 1:10:18defense. Oh, my God.
- 1:10:19I'm being serious, man. Look at that defense.
- 1:10:21They got PAL tours. They just brought in.
- 1:10:23They did just, they just bought some death from Nax Marino.
- 1:10:26They still got Diego. Carlos, that was a great
- 1:10:28defender in Germany played for. Who do you play for?
- 1:10:32Had a Brown kit? Doesn't matter.
- 1:10:34They still got Tyrone Mings, they got Lucas Dinye, they got
- 1:10:38Matty Cash. It's a great fucking defense
- 1:10:42they could have right there. I think Martinez has another
- 1:10:46great season following. You know, Argentina's World Cup
- 1:10:50win where he freaking basically helped basically helped helped
- 1:10:53win him. Not basically.
- 1:10:54He fucking won them the fucking World Cup with his saves on the
- 1:10:57penalties. Carried messy to the World Cup.
- 1:11:00He out crazy like 3 teams just by himself.
- 1:11:02Literally carried him, so I don't think that's a bad shout.
- 1:11:06Puff, you know, Especially where I have him coming 4th in the top
- 1:11:09six, because if you can get Golden Glove, that means that
- 1:11:12you kept some clean sheets. Doesn't necessarily mean that
- 1:11:14mean they've won a lot of games, but you've kept clean sheets and
- 1:11:17maybe got a couple draws that you needed against the big
- 1:11:19teams. Fair enough.
- 1:11:21You're sticking to your convictions.
- 1:11:22It lines up with your top 6 picks.
- 1:11:27I'm going Nick Pope. That was my second pick.
- 1:11:30Newcastle. Nick Pope.
- 1:11:31I think when I just look at the defense defensive lines for all
- 1:11:36the top six teams, I think Edison is the safest bet.
- 1:11:39I think he's the clearest clear in a way.
- 1:11:41I you know Allison is not there just with the way the
- 1:11:44Liverpool's was conceding last year and conceding in preseason.
- 1:11:47We've obviously we talked about a Nana or Nana.
- 1:11:49I just, I just do know he's not. I just do not think he's gonna.
- 1:11:53Be that good. And then like Chelsea's
- 1:11:54obviously a joke in the keeper situation.
- 1:11:56We just bought another keep. We spent 25,000,000 on a backup,
- 1:11:59that's how. That's how much of a joke
- 1:12:00Chelsea is. Hey, net positive, Keith, net
- 1:12:05positive. It's still net positive for this
- 1:12:06for the window. You know, I I don't know.
- 1:12:11I think Nick Pope is is good to be the guy.
- 1:12:15I think he he's big and strong. He had a really good 3/4 of a
- 1:12:19season last year and the. Back forth, they kind of tailed
- 1:12:22off a little bit defensively, but I think, I think they're
- 1:12:26just gonna be back strong. I I still am a little leery of
- 1:12:28like the the Newcastle defenders.
- 1:12:31As individual players I wanna pick up, but I think as a unit
- 1:12:33and with especially with the midfield editions they've made
- 1:12:35that are really solid defensively, I think they're
- 1:12:37gonna be hard to break down even more so hard to break down.
- 1:12:40I think that is the guy. Me and you keep it right here
- 1:12:44with the Golden Boot and the Golden Glove.
- 1:12:47Tico. You're safe as fuck.
- 1:12:49Boring. You mean I'm correct.
- 1:12:53That's fun. Yeah, I mean, kind of true, too.
- 1:12:58All right, so let's run through them again, just as, like, a
- 1:13:00final note before we sign off. Tico What were your top 6
- 1:13:05predictions? So going from top to bottom,
- 1:13:08Arsenal, City, United, Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea.
- 1:13:13Enzo City, Liverpool, Newcastle Villa, Arsenal Menu.
- 1:13:19Mine or Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool, City United, Arsenal.
- 1:13:24And then for Golden Boot I had Olly Walkins and then both you
- 1:13:27guys at early Holland, Golden Glove, I had Nick Pope, Tika,
- 1:13:31you had Edison, Enzo, you had Martinez from Austin, Villa.
- 1:13:38And yeah, so we'll we'll we'll keep these rankings up and we'll
- 1:13:42see, we'll see kind of how it looks.
- 1:13:46Other than that, I guess the next time we're we're gonna all
- 1:13:48talk is gonna be at our draft. Alright you guys, this is
- 1:13:52episode 4 of Draft Offsides. I'm with Tico Nenza.
- 1:13:55My name is Keith. Our next episode will be our
- 1:13:58live draft. So tune in for that one and see
- 1:14:02you guys next time. Come on you Spurs.
- 1:14:06That'll be cut. That'll be getting cut final.
- 1:14:11That is Alice.
