- 0:00Jordan Peterson. We are going to be talking about Jordan Peterson this morning.
- 0:03I don't know if you have heard of him. I'm sure you have. I mean,
- 0:05I don't think there's any possibility you haven't heard of Jordan Peterson yet,
- 0:08but he is a Canadian psychologist, author, and media commentator.
- 0:16He began to receive widespread attention in the late 2010s for his views on
- 0:21cultural and political issues, often characterized as conservative.
- 0:25Peterson has described himself as a classical liberal and a traditionalist.
- 0:30I'm going to give my opinion on my opinion, like my views, you know,
- 0:33from a distance, what I think of him.
- 0:35First of all, I'll say this. I think he's wonderful. I love Jordan Peterson.
- 0:39I got to start it off with that. There's a lot to break down.
- 0:43He's, he's, I think he's next level. He's next level, but we'll definitely, we'll get into it.
- 0:48Without going any further today, this video is sponsored by HelloFresh.
- 0:52They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and HelloFresh agrees.
- 0:56In fact, they're giving all subscribers free breakfast for life.

- 1:10as well as or in the description of the podcast.
- 1:13So my name is Brandon Fogel. This is Evolution. I've wanted to do a video over
- 1:18Jordan Peterson for a while, for a while now.
- 1:22If I'm not if I'm watching any podcast I'm a
- 1:25lot of times watching his as well as a podcast
- 1:28he's he goes on to so I'm absolutely thrilled
- 1:31to talk about him but without further
- 1:34ado I'm gonna actually show a little clip a couple clips from his
- 1:37video that he did on the podcast diary of
- 1:40a CEO if you haven't checked this out you should
- 1:42definitely go go find it it's really really good
- 1:46it's but I would say this is almost his more like recent
- 1:49video he's done and he gave his as blunt as
- 1:52jordan peterson can be he gave
- 1:55his view what he said he believed about jesus and
- 1:58god well we'll see that clip in a second but let's actually
- 2:01just take a look at this first you know what simple way that i can understand
- 2:04do you believe in a man in the sky god do you believe in it's well that's not
- 2:09as that's not as primitive there's jordan peterson right there as the atheists
- 2:13would have you believe what is it you believe well there isn't anything more
- 2:16complex in the known universe than a human brain.
- 2:19So if you want to model for reality as such, like.
- 2:25But proclaiming that it has something akin to the structure of the human psyche
- 2:29is not an absurd claim, given that that is the most complex thing by far that we know of.
- 2:35Okay. And then I want to show one other clip, which is this is almost if you
- 2:39go to the link to that video is in the description as well.
- 2:43You should definitely go check it out. I'm also always watching A Diary of a CEO.
- 2:47It is an awesome podcast. If you have not found that one, I would definitely throw that out there.
- 2:51You should definitely go check out that podcast. It is amazing.
- 2:54I've watched so many of their videos.
- 2:56Another clip I wanted to quickly show is this is probably the highlight.
- 3:00For me, it was, and a lot of people that have talked about this video so far,
- 3:03was this moment. Because he keeps asking Jordan.
- 3:08Because I've seen this, and I've just watched a video with Jordan Peterson discussing
- 3:12religious matters with Alex O'Connor recently.
- 3:15And sometimes it can be frustrating. It can be frustrating for the podcaster,
- 3:20the host, the interviewer that is asking Jordan.
- 3:23So what do you believe can you break that down
- 3:26what you're saying is it it might it
- 3:29says one thing but like to the masses it
- 3:32might not come across the same way that you're intending so can you kind of
- 3:37break that down and Alex he keeps asking over and over and that was from like
- 3:41months back probably about seven months back that he did that video but this
- 3:45is a more recent one and on Diary of CEO he asked him point blank he says because
- 3:49he keeps asking over and over and he he doesn't want to harp on it,
- 3:52but he does. And he just says to Jordan point blank.
- 3:55What do you believe about God? What does that mean to you? I'm going to ask
- 3:59you again, because I want to be clear.
- 4:01What is the God you believe in?
- 4:05I think that the claim that Christ is the embodiment of the prophet and the
- 4:09laws, I think that's true. Okay.
- 4:12That's complicated. It's very complicated. Here it is. But I think it's true.
- 4:16So you believe that Jesus was?
- 4:19God? God. Yeah.
- 4:21I think if you understand what that means, that it's indisputable.
- 4:27All right. So there it is. And I know a lot of people have done discussions
- 4:31over this of Jordan saying that because he gets asked that point blank.
- 4:36He's not shy away from not saying that Jesus, he believes in Christianity or he believes in God.
- 4:43He doesn't like being asked the question, do you believe in God?
- 4:47Because when you're like almost talking next level with Jordan,
- 4:50And I was thinking about this yesterday.
- 4:52He is, he almost speaks on a level as I would hear Jesus himself speak because
- 4:58a lot of things he's talking beyond what our mind comprehends immediately.
- 5:04He's talking like almost on a spiritual deeper level.
- 5:08You know, I don't know Jordan Peterson's heart. I don't know what he fundamentally
- 5:11believes, but based on his words, I would, I would say he's a Christian.
- 5:15I, I, I mean, and I, that's the thing. I don't like, like being labeled something either.
- 5:19I mean, I'll be labeled Christian all day long. I would definitely take that
- 5:22with a badge of honor, but I know he doesn't like to be, people don't want to
- 5:26be put in a box and say, you're on my team.
- 5:29You're on my, we got this guy, we got this guy, you know, and he,
- 5:32it's just becomes this litmus test, whether you are on my side or not.
- 5:37And I don't think in Jordan Peterson, he, he, he always is pushing back against that. And rightly so.
- 5:44I understand that. You don't want to be just reduced to that and that's all
- 5:48you are. But he gets asked point blank.
- 5:51So you believe Jesus is God and he says.
- 5:55Yeah. And I think it's indisputable. And I, the video I was watching yesterday
- 6:01with him and Alex O'Connor,
- 6:03Alex was asking him things and he like, it's hard to even like pin him down
- 6:06on his views sometimes because he is talking on deeper, more transcendent levels.
- 6:13It seems like his way of thinking is just so like layer upon layer.
- 6:17And it's like, how do you get down to underneath the surface of the core of what it is.
- 6:22You know, I think sometimes, do we even know ourselves?
- 6:25Do we even know ourselves? And can we even put ourselves on the bed and let
- 6:31us analyze our own mind, analyze our own heart? What do we really believe? What are we thinking?
- 6:36I think we can, to an extent, we can't do it perfectly.
- 6:39And Jordan, I don't know what he would say on some fundamental issues,
- 6:44like fundamental things about Christianity, about God, you know?
- 6:49He's made it clear that he is, he believes that Jesus is God.
- 6:53We just heard it right there.
- 6:54He, and it's indisputable, but there's a lot there. And he'll always say,
- 6:59well, and what does that mean?
- 7:00What does that mean? And for him, it's hard to even just really dial it down
- 7:06and really understand what he means by that. Cause words have meaning.
- 7:11Words definitely have meaning and they convey thoughts and they're trying to
- 7:14convey what's in my mind.
- 7:16So I can grasp what's in yours so that we can be speaking the same language.
- 7:21I want to know what you understand on this issue. And you can understand what I mean.
- 7:26But sometimes it's tough. It's definitely tough. And when he says that Jesus
- 7:30is God, that is indisputable.
- 7:32First of all, amen. Heck yes. And there's a lot of, a lot of things when you're
- 7:37going on the, on the stage, as opposed to just being one-on-one with someone.
- 7:41It's just, I mean, you're not, you're not even being recorded.
- 7:43You're just one-on-one, maybe in the privacy of your home with your wife,
- 7:47your children, and you're sharing your,
- 7:50what you believe, what you believe about this universe, what you believe about
- 7:55God himself, what you believe about yourself.
- 7:57And you're just, it is so easy to put up walls.
- 8:00It is so easy to put up defense mechanisms because a lot of times,
- 8:04and I found myself doing this, I don't want to go there in the recesses of my
- 8:09mind. I want some things.
- 8:10I don't want to entertain the thought of some things.
- 8:14I want to just live life.
- 8:17I want to not be thinking about things that have real consequences and my actions
- 8:24have real consequences. is I want to just fundamentally just put on Netflix.
- 8:29You know, scroll through my phone.
- 8:31I want to mentally check out, not be in this, in this world,
- 8:35because when we get down to hard, real issues, sometimes it can make you squirm.
- 8:41And sometimes I don't even myself want to put myself out there because I don't
- 8:45want to be even thinking about like some of those things.
- 8:47It's much easier and much funner just to throw on another show of Office or
- 8:52Friends and just let's just check out. You know, let's not think about like
- 8:56this world is real and what's, what's beyond this world.
- 9:01What's going to happen when we take our final breath. I mean,
- 9:05just thinking about that is kind of like, it's, it's very tough.
- 9:07You know, death is the greatest adventure.
- 9:10Great is the greatest adventure. We are all going to experience someday.
- 9:15So it's like, it's tough when you actually think about it.
- 9:19I mean, it's, it's, that's why some, sometimes dark humor is the only release.
- 9:23It's fun to just say, I don't know, you know, and just laugh about it because
- 9:27that's all the only thing we can actually do.
- 9:30Because when we think about it, it can be very heavy, very heavy.
- 9:35And I don't know if with Jordan Peterson, I don't know if that is what's happening sometimes.
- 9:40I mean, of course, he's got language, vocabulary, thoughts, you know,
- 9:46that are next level that are speaking, like I said, like Jesus,
- 9:49because when Jesus spoke to his apostles, they're was not understanding what he was meaning.
- 9:55They didn't get it over and over. They did not understand what Jesus was saying
- 9:59when he was saying the things he did. And he was like over and over saying.
- 10:03Are you still so dull? Like you, you don't understand what I'm clearly communicating.
- 10:09And I, I, I get the apostles.
- 10:12I would have been the same way. I would have been, Jesus, you're the son of God.
- 10:17You are, you know, you are.
- 10:19And what all that means, all we know is, you know, how to say peace and be still
- 10:24to the waves of the sea and they, they obey you.
- 10:28That's pretty crazy. We are like, so Jesus, you came from God.
- 10:33We believe that. So it's like, just that we don't understand everything immediately.
- 10:38I mean, there's got to be grace in that.
- 10:40And I think he definitely does. But a lot of his chiding the apostles of their
- 10:44lack of understanding was almost like, so it could be recorded,
- 10:48so that it could show that these apostles weren't supermen themselves.
- 10:53They were regular guys like you and like me.
- 10:57It shows the humanity of them, of how, like, we would have been the same way.
- 11:02We would have been the same way.
- 11:03So Jordan Peterson speaking on these next levels, does he not want to go there sometimes?
- 11:08Does he feel like he doesn't want to go there and he doesn't?
- 11:10There is an element of that because in just in human psychology,
- 11:14in human, just the human brain, we don't want to, we want to block out things
- 11:18that we don't want to think about.
- 11:20We want to push back because, and you've seen, if you've seen videos of Jordan
- 11:25Peterson, I mean, him breaking down, like talking about with, with Christ.
- 11:29And there is a progression in any person's life of coming closer and closer to the light.
- 11:36And once you get closer and closer to the light, things can heat up. Things can be exposed.
- 11:42Things can be, have to be turned away from and let go and go forward.
- 11:47And that's where it gets very tough because you never know if someone's heart,
- 11:51like, because there's always something holding us back from letting go and,
- 11:56and clinging to Christ. Cause we can't fully cling to Christ.
- 11:59We can't hold something in our hand and try to grab everything we can on Jesus.
- 12:02We have to let everything go, everything jump in.
- 12:07I mean, Jesus says to a rich man, sell all your possessions,
- 12:11give it to the poor. And what do you think that rich person does?
- 12:15He runs and sells all his possessions. No, he goes away sad.
- 12:19And that's not to say that every person is supposed to sell everything,
- 12:22but in a real fundamental sense, yeah, every person is supposed to sell everything.
- 12:28That might not mean materially, like selling all your possessions,
- 12:32but your heart has to let go of everything.
- 12:34And if money, if prestige, if like your influence and you're scared that you're
- 12:42going to lose a following.
- 12:43You're scared that other people are going to look at you differently if you step out for Christ.
- 12:50You might have to let that go.
- 12:53Because there's always something. Is there something in your mind and in your
- 12:57heart that immediately, I got this one thing.
- 12:59I got this one thing and I can't let go of it.
- 13:03That's probably like the rich man money was and possessions.
- 13:08That might be it for you. And that, and it was for me and it still is daily. It's for me.
- 13:12There's always something I got to let go. And there's always the conviction that comes.
- 13:17And that's where I found that like people that are, that are,
- 13:19they're atheists. Cause I love listening to people that are atheists.
- 13:24And I've, I've found listening to them.
- 13:27And I think this goes with anybody that anyone that, that struggles with what they believe.
- 13:33And like, because if you got to constantly reinforce it and you got to just
- 13:38berate people over the head with what you believe.
- 13:41It's probably a defense mechanism in yourself that you have to just continue
- 13:47just to throw fuel on the fire. So you believe it yourself.
- 13:50And I think I, this goes with Christians as well. This goes with me as well.
- 13:53And certain things, cause I've had in my life, you know, and if I don't feel
- 13:57like I understand and got it right and I, and I'm throwing up a defense mechanism,
- 14:02if there's a lack of confidence, I will try to push that on other people.
- 14:07And I don't know what it is. We just, because I did come out of things that like that were not.
- 14:14A part of Christ. And at a time when I was deceived, but I kept pushing it on
- 14:19other people because it was a lack of confidence in myself.
- 14:22Like, I just, I don't know if what I'm believing is right.
- 14:26So I got, I got to make, push it on them. I got to push it on them.
- 14:29Like almost let them be my testing area.
- 14:32And if they're, if, if other people are believing it, that's reinforcing what
- 14:36I believe. And if they're not, that's scary.
- 14:39Am I living a lie? Am I following a lie?
- 14:42And I say this about atheists because just watching Alex O'Connor,
- 14:46because I love Alex O'Connor.
- 14:47There's nothing I'm watching more than Alex O'Connor, but he's always going
- 14:51out and picking through the Christian faith in a lot of ways.
- 14:54And there's got to be something more there that is driving that.
- 14:59Because when we really throw away all the covers and we see what's bare bones
- 15:05underneath, like, what is your own faith?
- 15:07What is your own worldview? you? Why do you feel like you need to push your
- 15:11own faith or your own beliefs, your own understanding of this world on everybody else?
- 15:15Why do you have to continue to reinforce that?
- 15:18Is it because you lack something confidence in what you really believe?
- 15:23Because I mean, there is a difference with Christianity.
- 15:26Jesus said, go and spread the gospel. But there was no atheist Jesus saying,
- 15:31go and spread atheism or agnosticism or belief that there is no God.
- 15:38So there is a difference there.
- 15:40And I think a lot of times Christians are reluctant to share their faith because,
- 15:44it's not as well received.
- 15:46It's not that well received. When you start talking about things that are going
- 15:49to be of eternal consequence, it's not always going to be the life of the party.
- 15:54It's not always going to be the brightest thing in the room.
- 15:59So it's tough. But as a Christian, you have to continue to move forward.
- 16:03Anyways, this video was mainly about Jordan Peterson. There's a lot there.
- 16:09Him saying that he believes that Jesus is God, him openly saying it,
- 16:13he just said it straight out and he had to be asked it a couple of times.
- 16:18He's definitely got some major influence and the way that he's going to live
- 16:24out the rest of his life, live out the rest of his time and use his platform.
- 16:28And I think there's not many people that are doing a greater job and just basically
- 16:33talking about bringing up the conversation of the Bible and Jesus getting people
- 16:37to think, but he's got it.
- 16:39You know, there is a sense you got to completely dive in and be sold out,
- 16:42you know, and maybe, maybe he's thinking next level.
- 16:45Maybe he's thinking next level beyond what I can comprehend.
- 16:48So we'll leave it at that. Peace, everyone.
