- 1:34Speaker 1: One happy one year birthday to grow Out. Okay, we've
- 1:38Speaker 1: been around for a year now.
- 1:40Speaker 2: This is going to be a sort of monthly extra
- 1:43Speaker 2: that we're going to throw out and we're going to
- 1:44Speaker 2: be tackling a variety of topics from the wrestling history

- 1:51Speaker 2: ahead and get on talk about you know, championship belts
- 1:53Speaker 2: and yeah, I got to talk about the history of
- 1:55Speaker 2: championship belts and stuff. And then Jason likes possibly fantasy
- 2:00Speaker 2: looking certain things. Yeah, we'll just we're going to take
- 2:03Speaker 2: this episode by episode, but this will be sort of
- 2:05Speaker 2: an extra for everybody that is exclusively on Spreaker, Spotify, podcast, addict.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Anything. Yeah, but this is gonna be.
- 2:17Speaker 2: An easily digestible episode, no breaks, no segments.
- 2:20Speaker 1: But yes, and the first episode.
- 2:23Speaker 2: That we are doing, which is this one, is going
- 2:26Speaker 2: to be it is going to be a great one
- 2:28Speaker 2: from Japan, coming straight from Japan.
- 2:31Speaker 1: We're definitely in West Virginia. Yeah, we are definitely in
- 2:34Speaker 1: West Virginia.
- 2:34Speaker 2: But we are talking about a Japanese wrestling legend. Yes,
- 2:41Speaker 2: and he is a lot of you know who he is,
- 2:44Speaker 2: the Great Mooda.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he was really great. He was he was he
- 2:48Speaker 1: was awesome in the ring.
- 2:50Speaker 2: We're going to talk brief. We're going to talk about
- 2:52Speaker 2: the Moodas scale. If you don't know what the Mooda
- 2:54Speaker 2: scale is, I'm going to explain that as we go
- 2:57Speaker 2: at all, I don't really know. Yeah, you're about to learn,
- 2:59Speaker 2: You're about to learn the origins of the Moda scale
- 3:01Speaker 2: and where it kind of wraps, you know, goes with every.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Where there was seventeen twenty two. No, it wasn't. Well,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I don't know anything about this.
- 3:13Speaker 2: So well, this man, well, I don't know if you
- 3:16Speaker 2: could call him that, this monster struck fear to not
- 3:18Speaker 2: only his opponents but everyone around him, moving like a
- 3:21Speaker 2: man possessed, attacking his opponents with a hatred only a
- 3:24Speaker 2: monster of demonic nature can hold. That is only one
- 3:28Speaker 2: side of him, though. His other side is the man
- 3:31Speaker 2: named kg Muto. But the world knows him better as
- 3:34Speaker 2: his alter ego, the Great Mooda.
- 3:38Speaker 1: A lot of you do.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Remember him, most of you. Most of you do anyway,
- 3:41Speaker 2: from his time in WCW, but he is an absolute
- 3:44Speaker 2: legend in Japan.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Jeff, Josh, do you remember him? Nope? Really, the match
- 3:51Speaker 1: is like Great Mooda versus Sting. I don't when was
- 3:54Speaker 1: he oh, late eighties, late eighties, d nineties?
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yeah, actually yeah, I'm actually that ties a little bit
- 4:04Speaker 2: into this.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Okay, So as we get going to.
- 4:07Speaker 2: But yes, the Great Mooda Caju Muto aka the Great Mooda.
- 4:12Speaker 2: If you you know, you're sitting there, you're like, you're
- 4:14Speaker 2: a fan of Finn Balor and you liked the Demon,
- 4:18Speaker 2: just know that the Demon was.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Inspired by the Great Moodo. I to Jerry Missed.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Yeah, like you can see the Great Mooda's uh, what's
- 4:28Speaker 2: the word I'm looking for influence throughout wrestling.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Yeah, you could also, you know, look him up on YouTube.
- 4:34Speaker 1: You could. I highly see him.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I highly recommend you doing that. Yeah, okay, okay.
- 4:41Speaker 2: He was innovative in the ring, creating the mood A
- 4:43Speaker 2: Loch along with the Shining Wizard. Caju Muto not only
- 4:48Speaker 2: set the bar for pro wrestling, but his influence can
- 4:50Speaker 2: be felt through the world of professional wrestling today.
- 4:53Speaker 1: That is a discussion for another day, though.
- 4:57Speaker 2: So the mood A Loch is a how do I
- 5:00Speaker 2: explain this? So the STF it's like that, except you're
- 5:06Speaker 2: doing it backwards like the like your opponent's still in
- 5:09Speaker 2: the same position, but you are flipped and you're.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Doing it backwards. That is the mood A lock.
- 5:14Speaker 2: The Shining Wizard, which is something that he came up
- 5:17Speaker 2: with later on in his career because his his main
- 5:21Speaker 2: finisher was the moon Salt that takes a toll on
- 5:24Speaker 2: your knees after a long time. Yeah, Jason's got a
- 5:27Speaker 2: picture of the of the mood alock right there. The
- 5:29Speaker 2: Shining Wizard is like, so your opponent is down in
- 5:32Speaker 2: a prone position, like down on one knee, and Mooda
- 5:36Speaker 2: pretty much just comes up hits you with his knee.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah your leg, yes, steps up on the knee that
- 5:43Speaker 2: you have stationary and then hit you with his other knee.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And is it who is it that does the shiniest
- 5:49Speaker 1: think of in WWE? I don't know right off the
- 5:52Speaker 1: top of my head, but it is influenced.
- 5:55Speaker 2: From Jay It could be whoever is doing it.
- 5:59Speaker 1: It is inspired by the Great and to Jerry even
- 6:02Speaker 1: used the Shining Wizard. Yes, I believe Hurricane Helms used
- 6:06Speaker 1: it for a bit.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah, And like I said, that was something that he
- 6:09Speaker 2: came up with later on in his career.
- 6:12Speaker 1: So where was I at? Yes?
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah, So today we are inviting him to join us
- 6:19Speaker 2: as we take a look at the beginning of something
- 6:21Speaker 2: else that Kaiji Muto well, his alter ego, the Great
- 6:23Speaker 2: Mooda is credited for. We were talking about the infamous
- 6:27Speaker 2: mood A scale and where it all began.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Where did it all begin? Jeff uh?
- 6:37Speaker 2: First off, anything that I say in this recording, don't
- 6:40Speaker 2: try at home.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Wait, don't wait, don't try saying the stuff at home.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Don't don't do what you know. Don't so, don't try
- 6:46Speaker 1: pro wrestling at home.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Don't try, yes, exactly, don't try your high school No.
- 6:51Speaker 1: No, you're a thing you want to do. Don't do it.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Don't don't do it. Don't hey, hold on, hold on,
- 6:58Speaker 1: I see you don't don't do that. Don't do that?
- 7:01Speaker 1: Not here? No, no, okay.
- 7:04Speaker 2: So, first off, Muda was a absolute mad man. You
- 7:08Speaker 2: think he looked and acted a little crazy in WCW,
- 7:10Speaker 2: Wait until you see him running at you with a
- 7:13Speaker 2: ring spike and wanting to harm you in Japan, which
- 7:16Speaker 2: is what he would do quite often. Oh yeah, he
- 7:18Speaker 2: would straight up grab a ring spike and chase after you.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Jusian thundering Lager was on the receiving end of one
- 7:24Speaker 2: of those, which led to Kishen Lagger, which is something
- 7:26Speaker 2: totally different to talk about another day.
- 7:28Speaker 1: That's an alter ego. The Juician thunder lager.
- 7:31Speaker 2: So yes, he was a madman. And like I said,
- 7:35Speaker 2: wait until you see him running at you with a
- 7:37Speaker 2: ring spike. Yes, a mooda match was crazy. He would
- 7:40Speaker 2: usually do something heinous somewhere in the match, usually by
- 7:43Speaker 2: grabbing a weapon, sometimes a ring spike. Again, don't do
- 7:47Speaker 2: this at home to attack his opponent with the ref
- 7:51Speaker 2: because he wanted absolutely no part of that. Would wait
- 7:54Speaker 2: and see what the response is from his opponent. If
- 7:57Speaker 2: his opponent grabbed a weapon to defend themselves, and it's
- 8:00Speaker 2: a no DQ. If they just stood there and did
- 8:03Speaker 2: not defend themselves, then it would be a disqualification. It
- 8:05Speaker 2: was pretty much up to the discretion of the opponents
- 8:08Speaker 2: on whether or not it was going to be a DQ.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Most of the time they would defend themselves, so therefore
- 8:12Speaker 2: they just kind of let it go, which was which
- 8:13Speaker 2: is pretty common within Japanese pro wrestling.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Sometimes you can just grab.
- 8:17Speaker 2: A weapon or put somebody through a table, and they're
- 8:19Speaker 2: just they're going to be a little more lenient with
- 8:21Speaker 2: especially if it's a title match or like a tournament match.
- 8:25Speaker 2: They don't they want to avoid any way any type
- 8:28Speaker 2: of disqualification.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Okay, so I mean did Muda use a lot of weapons.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Yes, he actually did so most of the time opponents
- 8:38Speaker 2: would defend themselves. And when I say that Muda grabbed weapons,
- 8:41Speaker 2: like what you just said that were Muta grabbed weapons,
- 8:43Speaker 2: I mean he grabbed them and just kept piling them on.
- 8:46Speaker 2: There's actually a match between him and Power Warrior from
- 8:49Speaker 2: nineteen ninety seven where they're on the outside of the ring.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Power Warrior, who.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Is sort of an extension of the Road Warriors in Japan.
- 8:59Speaker 2: He is on the outside of the ring and you
- 9:01Speaker 2: remember the do you remember the clip from ECW where
- 9:06Speaker 2: Mick Foley's just getting all the chairstrowe on him from
- 9:08Speaker 2: the crowd. Imagine that, but on the side of the
- 9:11Speaker 2: ring and its Mooda throwing all of the chairs that
- 9:13Speaker 2: he can grab at you. Okay, yeah, I mean he
- 9:15Speaker 2: just kept piling them on to him.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:17Speaker 2: So now the person who ends who's starting who he
- 9:24Speaker 2: was with to start the mood to Scale with the
- 9:27Speaker 2: unofficial infamous mood to Scale.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna go ahead and say you set the stage
- 9:30Speaker 1: for this.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Individual in walks, a man who is not afraid of
- 9:35Speaker 2: the monster named Mooda, not willing to back down because
- 9:38Speaker 2: of the power of his majestic mullet. Because how majestic
- 9:43Speaker 2: are I'm giving it a solid eight out of ten.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Okay, describe this mullet like, are we talking about Tennessee
- 9:48Speaker 1: top Hat, Kentucky Waterford?
- 9:50Speaker 2: I would say it is. It was like Eddie's Eddie
- 9:54Speaker 2: Guerrero's mullet, except shorter.
- 9:55Speaker 1: In the back. Oh wow, okay, it was majestic.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Is like oh no, no, no, like just as though, yes,
- 10:03Speaker 2: oh it's a majestic mullet.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Okay. He was also this is a fun fact.
- 10:08Speaker 2: He was also Japan's Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science
- 10:11Speaker 2: and Technology.
- 10:12Speaker 1: At one point. Oh nice, yes, in walks Hiroshi Hayes.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Who is Hiroshi Hayes. Well, that's what I would like
- 10:20Speaker 1: to know now exactly.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Former tag team partner of KGI Mutu and the Great
- 10:24Speaker 2: Moodom both at the same time them separate, But yeah,
- 10:28Speaker 2: he was. He was a former tag team partner of
- 10:30Speaker 2: KGI Mutu. He was was once again interfewed with the
- 10:34Speaker 2: Great Moodom. I say once again because a couple of
- 10:36Speaker 2: years earlier, when Muda first came back from the United States,
- 10:39Speaker 2: he went on excursion to WCW in the late eighties
- 10:43Speaker 2: early nineties, he came back. He had this program with
- 10:47Speaker 2: Hiroshi Hayes. I believe this was in nineteen ninety, so
- 10:51Speaker 2: he had just gotten back like this is. Yeah, he
- 10:54Speaker 2: had just left WCW when it came back, which is
- 10:57Speaker 2: a tradition that Japanese wrestling still does. Still send the
- 11:00Speaker 2: wrestlers awful excursion to foreign promotions to have them learn
- 11:05Speaker 2: how to work different styles. One of the more infamous
- 11:08Speaker 2: types of excursions is Kazuko Kata's excursion to TNA where
- 11:14Speaker 2: they just kind of just yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Also, I believe Muda was in the nWo.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Yes, he was, he was, he was, and so there
- 11:22Speaker 2: was a they were called nWo Japan. Scott Norton was
- 11:26Speaker 2: a member. Yes there was, who I think is still
- 11:31Speaker 2: in New Japan. I think he's still doing stuff. But yes,
- 11:36Speaker 2: so Muda was also there. There was also another gentleman
- 11:39Speaker 2: by the name of Masa hero Chono who was a
- 11:42Speaker 2: Those two were two thirds of what was called the
- 11:46Speaker 2: Three Musketeers of New Japan, which also included Shinya Hashimoto.
- 11:51Speaker 2: The Three Musketeers of New Japan is still sort of
- 11:54Speaker 2: a thing today.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I don't know exactly who his The Three Musketeers now
- 11:58Speaker 1: because it's been kind.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Of fractured, but they were sort of the first iteration
- 12:02Speaker 2: of that, and then later on you got Chansky, Knackamoor,
- 12:05Speaker 2: Hiroshi Tana Hashi, and Katcheri Shabata, and then later on
- 12:08Speaker 2: you got Nito Okada and I can't remember who the
- 12:11Speaker 2: third one is right off the top of my head,
- 12:13Speaker 2: but yes, it's it's sort of, it's it's sort of
- 12:15Speaker 2: those are.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Your aces, those are year three that you can lean on. Well,
- 12:18Speaker 1: I mean, if you're going to bring up an ace,
- 12:19Speaker 1: you're gonna have to talk about Tanahashi. Yeah. So so
- 12:23Speaker 1: take us back to the great Muda Hayes.
- 12:26Speaker 2: So so Hiroshi hay what is it he was hazing people?
- 12:31Speaker 1: You can sort of now, is it? Is it Hayes
- 12:33Speaker 1: who had the mullet?
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yes, Hirohie Hayes had the mullet. Okay, And yes he
- 12:38Speaker 2: was in the few. He was He was in a
- 12:39Speaker 2: few in nineteen.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Ninety with uh with Muda.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Muda gave him the absolute beating of his life in
- 12:45Speaker 2: this match.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Like how bad are we talking? Oh? It's bad.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Like there was blood and there was a lot of it,
- 12:50Speaker 2: like a lot a lot okay, a lot and I
- 12:52Speaker 2: remember this is in nineteen ninety It was a horror show,
- 12:56Speaker 2: not only the Haze but to the crowd as well.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Muda had drown, just some blood, but a lot of it.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Needless to say, Hayes had some payback for kg Mutto,
- 13:06Speaker 2: but also for the mystique of the Great Muda.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Okay, So that's what led into what's coming off.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Yes, that is sort of the genesis to what led
- 13:16Speaker 2: to this infamous match between Hiroshie Hayes and the Great
- 13:20Speaker 2: Muda in nineteen ninety two.
- 13:22Speaker 1: So we have the Great Muda versus Hayes. Yes, we've
- 13:25Speaker 1: got mullet versus missed Yes, sah okay, God.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Yes, that's where that's where we're at now that right there, Yes,
- 13:31Speaker 2: that was in nineteen ninety. Fast forward to nineteen ninety two,
- 13:34Speaker 2: the Great Muda and Hiroshie Hayes are once again facing
- 13:38Speaker 2: each other. Some ten minutes into the match, Hayes gains
- 13:43Speaker 2: the upper hand on Muda. He then starts to rub
- 13:46Speaker 2: off because Muda had this, you know, he would have
- 13:48Speaker 2: the face paint when he was going out as the
- 13:51Speaker 2: Great Muda. Yes, Hiroschie Hayes is rubbing that red face
- 13:54Speaker 2: paint because it was red. He's rubbing it off of
- 13:57Speaker 2: Muda with his hands, and eventually he was taking the
- 13:59Speaker 2: bottom of his and he was scraping his you know.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Head, trying to get pretty much. He was just really
- 14:06Speaker 1: and truly he was being a bit of a douchebag.
- 14:09Speaker 1: But I get it that Muda had it coming. But
- 14:13Speaker 1: Mooda is going to do Mooda things. So of course
- 14:15Speaker 1: he grabs a weapon.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Of course, yes he grabs a weapon, but you know what,
- 14:20Speaker 2: you know what, he grabs that ringspike. He's coming at
- 14:22Speaker 2: Hirohie Hayes. He's not just going against any ordinary man.
- 14:27Speaker 2: He's going against a man who not only has a
- 14:28Speaker 2: plan for Japanese education and culture in the future, but
- 14:32Speaker 2: a man with a sweet mullet, sweet mullet, a sweet mullet.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Hiroshi Hayes takes the weapon away and strikes Muda with
- 14:39Speaker 2: the weapon, and of course there's blood and Muda looks
- 14:42Speaker 2: like a straight up wounded animal at this point. Like
- 14:44Speaker 2: there was a lot of blood in that first in
- 14:47Speaker 2: that nineteen ninety match, but this nineteen ninety two match
- 14:49Speaker 2: took it to a whole nother level. I mean, there
- 14:52Speaker 2: was I will compare it later on in this script, but.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Just there was it was.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I you know, like when WWE somebody gets busted open
- 15:04Speaker 2: and they do a replay of that and they make
- 15:07Speaker 2: it black and white. Yes, I don't think they could
- 15:09Speaker 2: even with the black and white. I don't even think
- 15:11Speaker 2: they could, you know, cover this up.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's how That's how much blood there was
- 15:15Speaker 1: in this. Okay, So he does.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Muda looks like a straight up wounded animal. And like
- 15:23Speaker 2: I said, he's going after not only the Great Mooda
- 15:25Speaker 2: but the mystique surrounding the Great Mooda at the time,
- 15:29Speaker 2: because you gotta think he just came back from excursion
- 15:31Speaker 2: a couple of years ago.
- 15:31Speaker 1: He has been running rough shot over people. So is
- 15:34Speaker 1: he's trying to show that, like Muda is not this
- 15:36Speaker 1: monster but he's a yes, yes he is.
- 15:39Speaker 2: He is trying he has a personal vendetta against Muda,
- 15:43Speaker 2: and he is trying to show that there is a
- 15:45Speaker 2: weakness to this monster that everybody has sort of become
- 15:49Speaker 2: afraid of. Okay, but here is the beauty of Japanese
- 15:55Speaker 2: psychology aka put orisu, the fighting spirit of a competitor
- 15:59Speaker 2: or in this case, a wounded Monster will assist in
- 16:02Speaker 2: the triumph over their adversary. It's sort of a much
- 16:05Speaker 2: better version of Haul Cogan's haulking Up. Okay, So, Muda
- 16:09Speaker 2: then starts to fight back despite losing quite a bit
- 16:12Speaker 2: of blood like it's a massacre.
- 16:15Speaker 1: And definitely not PG.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Not only is the Great Muda trying to find the
- 16:19Speaker 2: fire to fight back, but the man behind him, Kiji
- 16:22Speaker 2: Muto is as well.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Kgi Muto. Excuse me.
- 16:26Speaker 2: After having just about enough if Heirohi Hayes, Muda then
- 16:30Speaker 2: just completely destroys him, finishing finishing him off with a
- 16:34Speaker 2: moon salt for the win. This match said a standard
- 16:37Speaker 2: that night, and that standard is how well getting color
- 16:42Speaker 2: worked in a match.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Of course, we've known this for years.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Okay, go back and watch any Rick Flair or Dusty
- 16:48Speaker 2: Rhodes match from the eighties. Okay, you're going to see blood.
- 16:51Speaker 2: You're going to see how effective it is. But we
- 16:53Speaker 2: never actually had a scale for it until this match
- 16:57Speaker 2: came about. For disclosure, for the of you do not know,
- 17:01Speaker 2: blood in wrestling is real.
- 17:03Speaker 1: It is very real.
- 17:05Speaker 2: They do not use blood capsules, at least almost never. Yeah,
- 17:10Speaker 2: like there was There's been a couple of instances but
- 17:12Speaker 2: for the most part, it's real blood. And I'm not
- 17:16Speaker 2: really going to go so far in how getting color
- 17:19Speaker 2: they get color in wrestling. I mean, yeah, yeah, it's
- 17:23Speaker 2: it's rather grewsome but just know that blood in wrestling
- 17:26Speaker 2: is very very real.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a it's a pretty sharp trick, yes it is.
- 17:32Speaker 2: But like I said, we did not we knew how
- 17:34Speaker 2: effective it was, but we did not have a scale
- 17:36Speaker 2: for it with this match. We haven't The Moda scale,
- 17:39Speaker 2: which is an unofficial scale.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Created by fans.
- 17:42Speaker 2: It scores how well and how much blood was used
- 17:44Speaker 2: in a match. The Great Mooda's match with Hirosie hates
- 17:47Speaker 2: Hiroshi Hayes at NJPW's Final Battle on December fourteenth, nineteen
- 17:51Speaker 2: ninety two is the skin standard and scores one Mouda.
- 17:55Speaker 2: That is your standard rate there. That match has one
- 17:58Speaker 2: Moda to it. So being like the bloodiest or no,
- 18:01Speaker 2: that's just.
- 18:02Speaker 1: That's the baseline, Okay, So baseline is one.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Base yes one now, and and in a way you're
- 18:07Speaker 2: not like you're comparing any time anytime you have blood
- 18:11Speaker 2: in the match, you're comparing it to this match. Now,
- 18:13Speaker 2: granted this match had a lot of blood to it, Okay,
- 18:16Speaker 2: that's why this match gets one mood.
- 18:17Speaker 1: It goes up and down.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Most time it's below because nobody's getting that much blood.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Well, I have to ask, okay, okay, if we're talking
- 18:24Speaker 1: about blood in a match and color in a match
- 18:27Speaker 1: Eddie Guerrero versus JBL Judgment Day two thousand and four,
- 18:30Speaker 1: I am so glad you brought that up. Where where
- 18:33Speaker 1: is that on the mooda scale?
- 18:34Speaker 2: That is three moodas Jesus Lord so so, and neither
- 18:39Speaker 2: of you have seen this match that I'm talking about, Okay,
- 18:43Speaker 2: but you've both seen.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Eddie Carrero JBL match. To put it into context, Yes,
- 18:47Speaker 1: that is true. That tripled the skin. That is Okay,
- 18:50Speaker 1: that is three moodas is what that is.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Yeah, So just think about all the blood in that
- 18:55Speaker 2: in that Judgment Day match.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:57Speaker 2: And if you're listening to this and you you're like,
- 19:00Speaker 2: which which new Japan matches is he talking about?
- 19:02Speaker 1: You can go back and watch it.
- 19:03Speaker 2: But just for reference, because I know that a lot
- 19:05Speaker 2: of people have seen that JBL match.
- 19:07Speaker 1: It is three moudas.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Now on the other end of that is Sizarro's terrible
- 19:13Speaker 2: attempt at getting color, and I think both of you
- 19:15Speaker 2: know what I'm talking about. So, yes, like what we said,
- 19:19Speaker 2: we don't really want to get too far into how
- 19:21Speaker 2: you get color and wrestling because it can get rather graphic.
- 19:23Speaker 2: But yes, you use a rather sharp, sharp tool to
- 19:26Speaker 2: do it. And when Cesarro tried to get color, tried
- 19:31Speaker 2: to gig himself, Yeah, it just looked like a cat scratch. Yeah,
- 19:35Speaker 2: I mean it just went right across his forehead. You
- 19:37Speaker 2: could tell what he tried doing and it didn't work.
- 19:40Speaker 2: That rate tear is like zero point one.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Muda, okay, or you can probably go lower than that.
- 19:46Speaker 1: So out of curiosity?
- 19:48Speaker 2: Was it just like a group of fans that created this,
- 19:49Speaker 2: or is like someone specifically can pinpoint it?
- 19:51Speaker 1: Just it's a group of fans.
- 19:53Speaker 2: It's so it's sort of one of those Internet lowre
- 19:56Speaker 2: things that nobody really knows exactly where it came from.
- 20:00Speaker 2: But it's just it's kind of been there ever since.
- 20:02Speaker 2: And I think, really, I think it started.
- 20:04Speaker 1: On message boards back in the day, because.
- 20:06Speaker 2: That's where a lot of people, like back in the
- 20:08Speaker 2: early nineties, you in the United States, you didn't have
- 20:11Speaker 2: access to Japanese wrestling, and the best way for you
- 20:14Speaker 2: to get access to Japanese wrestling was to tape trading.
- 20:18Speaker 2: So there was a lot of tape traders back in
- 20:20Speaker 2: the day. And a lot of these tape traders. You know,
- 20:23Speaker 2: it's back in the nineties. We don't have the cell
- 20:26Speaker 2: phones that we do now. You can't pull up you know,
- 20:28Speaker 2: Twitter or whatever and you know talk to somebody about,
- 20:31Speaker 2: you know, about what you saw in that match.
- 20:34Speaker 1: They would go to message boards basically social media. The nineties.
- 20:37Speaker 1: It was.
- 20:38Speaker 2: It basically was, and that is where the Mooda scale
- 20:41Speaker 2: started sort of was sort of with the iw C,
- 20:44Speaker 2: and again, nobody knows exactly where it came from, but
- 20:46Speaker 2: it is. It's it's an unofficial scale, but fans still
- 20:49Speaker 2: use it from time to time. The message boards.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Okay, so we have Guerrero JBL three MODA three moda,
- 20:58Speaker 1: csoro point one point one. What is John Moxley getting
- 21:03Speaker 1: ready to go on a date with Rene Piquette? Like,
- 21:06Speaker 1: where does that fall on the that's like point three
- 21:08Speaker 1: point three? Okay, point point three? Yeah, I would I
- 21:11Speaker 1: would give.
- 21:12Speaker 2: It a point three movies it was g JBO the highest.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I don't know what the official highest is. That is
- 21:17Speaker 2: the highest one I could find.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I'll be honest when I would be worried to see
- 21:22Speaker 1: what beats that.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want to see what beats that because
- 21:25Speaker 2: that one because it didn't.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Eddie almost die in that match because of that. Yeah,
- 21:29Speaker 1: like he had a main artery or something way too deep.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah he cut. Yeah. I remember seeing it and I
- 21:35Speaker 1: was like, oh, oh, that's it turns your stomach whenever
- 21:38Speaker 1: it kind of squirts a little bit. Yeah, that right there.
- 21:41Speaker 2: That that already gives you a mooda and a half. Okay,
- 21:44Speaker 2: when you see it just squirting out like that like
- 21:46Speaker 2: a caprice son it is.
- 21:47Speaker 1: That's a mooda and a half at that point. God,
- 21:49Speaker 1: I haven't had one of those along at last. That
- 21:57Speaker 1: is not Mudo's entire legacy. He is easily in the
- 22:00Speaker 1: Mount Rushmore conversation.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Uh, And honestly, I can go all day talking about
- 22:05Speaker 2: his career, from what he did in New Japan to
- 22:07Speaker 2: him going over to All Japan and his founding of
- 22:10Speaker 2: the now defunct wrestling promotion Wressell Won. Hiroshi Hayes is
- 22:15Speaker 2: still in politics and is the current governor of Ishikawa Prefecture,
- 22:21Speaker 2: which is basically a province in Japan like they are
- 22:24Speaker 2: in Canada. So Mudo is a Japanese legend, Hall of Famer,
- 22:30Speaker 2: has all these accolades, retired, now retired, finally now retired.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I mean he's the man has put in his time
- 22:37Speaker 2: final match.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yes, yes, it was well involved. Yeah, I'm sorry, what
- 22:42Speaker 1: were you saying, Josh, he works with now right?
- 22:44Speaker 2: Or yes he does, he does do stuff with noing
- 22:47Speaker 2: now and yes, Hiroshi Hayes he's he's still in politics,
- 22:52Speaker 2: so yes, and he is the Yeah, like I.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Said, he's the governor of Ishikawa Prefecture.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Which is, like I said, basically a province, their province
- 23:00Speaker 2: within Japan. It's not so much like how it is
- 23:02Speaker 2: he is here in the United States and you have
- 23:04Speaker 2: a state and everything. Not to go too far into that,
- 23:06Speaker 2: but yeah, it's it's more or less how they are
- 23:08Speaker 2: in Canada, where Canada has their own different provinces, you know.
- 23:12Speaker 2: So that's the best way to equate it to somebody
- 23:16Speaker 2: in North America. But yes, that is the origins of
- 23:21Speaker 2: the Mooda scale, how the Mooda scale actually works and
- 23:24Speaker 2: how you know you and you can't apply this to
- 23:27Speaker 2: any to any match that gets color in you know
- 23:30Speaker 2: you like you just have to, like I said, compare
- 23:34Speaker 2: it to the one match that was December fourteenth, nineteen
- 23:38Speaker 2: ninety two in JPW Final Battle the Great Muda versus
- 23:43Speaker 2: Hiroshi Hayes. So that is all that I have for
- 23:47Speaker 2: this first episode of the Grill.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Out hot Tag. Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so that and this is also something that a
- 23:59Speaker 2: lot of people. I've seen people talk about it online
- 24:02Speaker 2: about the about the mood of scale. But I don't
- 24:03Speaker 2: know if anybody. I don't know if anybody has ever
- 24:07Speaker 2: really dove deep on this. I know that I attempted
- 24:11Speaker 2: YouTube a few years back, and I did do a
- 24:14Speaker 2: video of it on there. Don't go looking for it.
- 24:16Speaker 2: The audio on it is atrocious. But yeah, and this
- 24:20Speaker 2: is basically just.
- 24:21Speaker 1: A revamped script from all of that.
- 24:25Speaker 2: So yeah, go ahead and email us the girl at
- 24:28Speaker 2: ninety five, tell us what you think of the mood
- 24:30Speaker 2: of scale.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Tell us you know, Jeff, if i'm may, I have
- 24:33Speaker 1: a list here of mood of scale matches.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Oh wow, okay, And by the way, this, I'm glad
- 24:41Speaker 2: you brought that up because when I was researching this.
- 24:43Speaker 1: This was three or four years ago. Yes, this was
- 24:47Speaker 1: during COVID when I was researching this, So go ahead. So,
- 24:52Speaker 1: Eddie Guerrero in the JBL match, as we said, is
- 24:55Speaker 1: a three point zero. Okay, John Cena versus JBL, which
- 25:00Speaker 1: was the e quip match from Judgment Day two thousand
- 25:02Speaker 1: and five, Sena received a two point zero. I was
- 25:06Speaker 1: wondering about that. What is what JBL in these Judgment
- 25:10Speaker 1: Day Well, this one is not JBL involved. This is
- 25:15Speaker 1: Necro butcher Oh man, Lord, yes, and let's see deathmatch
- 25:21Speaker 1: legend Samoa Joe and let's see Necro would start bleeding
- 25:27Speaker 1: when literally five minutes into the match, Joe starts shoot
- 25:31Speaker 1: head budding Necro immediately splitting him open. Only received a
- 25:37Speaker 1: two point five. Randy Yorton Summer Slim twenty sixteen against
- 25:43Speaker 1: brock Lesner, brock Lesner opening him, opening him up with
- 25:46Speaker 1: his elbow, yep, zero point seventy five. Huh, Bill Alfonso.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Bill Alfonso is on here, and let's see what he
- 25:59Speaker 1: had on the movie dires So Tommy Dreamer's wife Beulah
- 26:02Speaker 1: mcgillgutty McGillicuddy. One point five. So higher than Czari, No.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Higher than the moodis than the actual mooda match. Yeah,
- 26:13Speaker 2: that's one point five Muda, right, yeah, oh gosh, yeah,
- 26:16Speaker 2: And I'm telling you if you haven't seen it, go
- 26:18Speaker 2: out and watch it.
- 26:20Speaker 1: It is I mean, it's bad. I'm sorry. I was
- 26:24Speaker 1: just reading further on into this and this is honorable mentions. Okay,
- 26:30Speaker 1: I'm just going to read this to you. Rick Flair
- 26:33Speaker 1: literally every day of his life.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Sorry, Rick Flair fans.
- 26:40Speaker 1: The hair worked Rick Flair career career scaling one hundred
- 26:47Speaker 1: is a undertaker Bens and manson bavsary three on there.
- 26:51Speaker 1: It is not that man got bloody and yeah, yes
- 26:54Speaker 1: he did, but yeah that is and then well it
- 26:59Speaker 1: says the last one on here is the mass transit
- 27:01Speaker 1: incident and simply did not feel like talking about this one.
- 27:04Speaker 1: So yeah, that one that was hard, hard talk. Yeah,
- 27:07Speaker 1: the kid wasn't trained.
- 27:08Speaker 2: And I don't even think that one should be even
- 27:10Speaker 2: I don't think the Mouda SCO should even be applied
- 27:11Speaker 2: to that. No, like, and I can safely say that now. Yes, sorry,
- 27:18Speaker 2: May he rest in peace, New Jack.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I will say I don't really agree with
- 27:23Speaker 1: the bill Alphonso one. I don't think it should have
- 27:26Speaker 1: gone higher than Mooda itself, maybe a point eight maybe.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I mean it says here that the ECW Blue Ring
- 27:34Speaker 1: canvas would be colored red as everywhere Bill went and
- 27:38Speaker 1: the ring would instantly be covered in blood. So maybe
- 27:41Speaker 1: I don't wait, maybe we gotta we should watch that match.
- 27:43Speaker 1: It could be the part of it was the fact
- 27:45Speaker 1: that Bill Alfonzo wasn't, you know, technically a wrestler. Yeah. True,
- 27:49Speaker 1: So maybe that's where they put it.
- 27:51Speaker 2: So you make a good point with that, because I
- 27:53Speaker 2: don't if we're going to apply the logic to the
- 27:57Speaker 2: mass transit incident saying that we're not going to play
- 28:00Speaker 2: the mood of scale here because he was not a
- 28:01Speaker 2: trained wrestler, the story and everything that maybe that should
- 28:05Speaker 2: also be applied to Bill al Fonso Bula McGillicutty.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Well, but at least they were trained to be in
- 28:11Speaker 1: the ring. True, true. True. With with the other incident,
- 28:15Speaker 1: I mean it was just it was a kid put
- 28:18Speaker 1: in there and it Yeah, yeah, liberties were taken very much.
- 28:23Speaker 1: So there's a there is a reason why an entire
- 28:27Speaker 1: episode of Dark Side of the Ring is uh well,
- 28:30Speaker 1: there's a reason why it's mentioned in Dark Side of
- 28:32Speaker 1: the Rings. Well in the Newjack episode, like you know
- 28:35Speaker 1: that amongst the other things Nu Jack committed, Yes, like
- 28:40Speaker 1: Vic Grimes that that whole ordeal. But yeah, no, I
- 28:44Speaker 1: I agree, but that is a discussion for another day.
- 28:47Speaker 2: It is, and that is going to conclude our first
- 28:51Speaker 2: episode of the Grill Out hot hot Tag hot tag.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I wanted to say, hot takes no hotcakes? Are you
- 29:00Speaker 1: a little bit? Y'all? Want to go get some hotcakes? Now? Yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 1: let's go get some hotcakes.
- 29:04Speaker 2: If there's a certain topic you would like for us
- 29:06Speaker 2: to cover on this new extension, get you hotcakes.
- 29:11Speaker 1: If this is If there.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Is a certain subject you would like for us to
- 29:13Speaker 2: cover on the Grill Out hot Tag, not takes hot tag,
- 29:18Speaker 2: let us know at let us know at the grill
- 29:21Speaker 2: at email us the grill Out ninety five.
- 29:23Speaker 1: At gmail dot com, or you can let us know
- 29:25Speaker 1: on Yeah.
- 29:28Speaker 2: And until next time, fellow wrestling fans, have a good one,
