- 0:00Hey, Gordon, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three
- 0:03O Take where we talk all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:07Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:11It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:18presented by Chinook. Cedry, this is episode 561.
- 0:22I'll be your host, Kyle Corn. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:24Reyes. Nate.
- 0:31Casey, how are we? I'm watching all of your
- 0:34favorite things right now and MLB beginning, I'm watching the
- 0:38Yankees play at Steinbrenner Field.
- 0:43As an away game. As an away game, I'm watching
- 0:47the Mets. I'm watching the White Sox, who,
- 0:51if I recall, I believe you said should be burned down.
- 0:56Moved. No, you said move, you said burn
- 0:59down. Oh yeah, because it was like
- 1:03kind of like a whoops because of Chicago.
- 1:08Yeah. If you know, you know.
- 1:11Seemed a little aggressive, but yeah, I mean, this is this is
- 1:15prime viewing for you from for you, my friend.
- 1:21Speaking of prime viewing, we got a lot to talk about today,
- 1:24so let's just get right into it, Bubba.
- 1:27Actually, no. Let me, let me, let me take a
- 1:31step back. Just.
- 1:32Pump fake. Not prime viewing because the
- 1:35Pirates have decided to call up Bubba Chandler to be a bulk
- 1:43reliever. They've called up their top
- 1:50pitching prospects. Top pitching prospect in
- 1:53baseball to be a bulk reliever. That's pretty.
- 2:03It's pretty disappointing. I don't get it, man.
- 2:07What do you got to lose? What do you have to lose?
- 2:11What a what a miserable franchise like I what are we?
- 2:17What are we playing for? Middle relief for what?
- 2:20Bulk relief for what? What I don't understand is why,
- 2:26why, why call him up to get his quote UN quote Major League
- 2:30experience? Why not just let him finish out
- 2:33the year in the minors? Because he as it stands right
- 2:36now, he is not. He is not throwing well posted
- 2:41AA133 ER 8 April, 254 in May. But then, as of his last couple
- 2:48starts or last few starts, he's got a 750.
- 2:55So why not? Why not just let him?
- 2:59Why not? Why not just let this year run
- 3:01its course and then build up to something for next year?
- 3:08Why? I do not know.
- 3:11You're not even going to give the kid a chance to let his
- 3:14family know like when he's going to be making his debut, which I
- 3:18know in the grand scheme of things isn't something probably
- 3:21that the Pirates really care about or really any Major League
- 3:23team for that matter. However, the top pitching
- 3:29prospects and you're just going to roll them out there in a in a
- 3:3312 to 2 blowout. They really botch everything,
- 3:38don't they? Everything.
- 3:42There are a few. Teams that you can look at and
- 3:44be like, we probably could manage this, we could probably
- 3:50run this organization better. The Pirates are one of those
- 3:53teams. This is a this is just a a clear
- 3:56cut botching of butchery. Your a clear, yeah clear cut
- 4:03butchery of your top arm and I don't.
- 4:09Yep Yep Yep. It's embarrassing.
- 4:12It's like the kid doesn't really lack confidence from the from
- 4:16the quotes I've seen coming out of the Bubba camp.
- 4:21It's not a it's not about confidence.
- 4:23It's it's about handling. Handling an arm, handling a
- 4:31player who your entire fan base has anxiously been awaiting the
- 4:35arrival of. And even outside of Pittsburgh,
- 4:38I know there's plenty of non Pirates fans who are like, when
- 4:42are we getting this Bubba Chandler guy up?
- 4:44Because we want to watch him dice, especially after the way
- 4:47he threw it last year, I think and like at the end of last
- 4:51year, AAA, it's it's just malpractice.
- 4:59And this isn't the first time we've seen it with the Pirates.
- 5:04Yeah, I don't know. I mean, it's it sucks that it's
- 5:09like I want to be pumped for it. I'd be excited.
- 5:12I'd like to. I'd like to plan my night around
- 5:14it. I'd like to plan my night around
- 5:17that debut. Doesn't have to be right now.
- 5:20Why are they doing it right now? And who gets bounced?
- 5:26Is it Andrew Heaney to get the axe?
- 5:31That's what. That's what.
- 5:33Our sources are are saying that's.
- 5:36What our source has said. Who's that source?
- 5:40Who's to say I I don't frankly know or.
- 5:44Inside source may or may not be in the chat soon, we don't know.
- 5:48Personally, I don't know if it's he or not.
- 5:52Frankly, don't care. I can't even.
- 5:56I mean, you know, I'll do this for Bubba.
- 6:04Can you remove? This that's all he gets though,
- 6:09Bubba, I'm sorry, man. This it look, it's nothing
- 6:11personal. It's not your fault.
- 6:13It's it's you would have gotten the full clip if the if your
- 6:21team knew how to handle you better, knew how to manage your
- 6:25career better. But managing careers is not what
- 6:30the Pirates do. However, though I am excited to
- 6:33see if and when the time comes, I'll just say when the time
- 6:38comes that Bubba Chandler is inserted into that rotation on a
- 6:42regular basis. You know, while I don't foresee
- 6:48Paul Schemes being there a day longer than he's required to be,
- 6:52I am excited to see what what that rotation could look like
- 6:57for a little while. Between it makes you wonder if
- 7:01like we're going to see like the this era's Scherzer and
- 7:07Verlander and like Tiger uniform, you know what I mean?
- 7:11Like just like a repeat. And then like we'd Fast forward
- 7:14down the road 10 years and we're like, yo, these two are in the
- 7:19same rotation. You never know.
- 7:22It's going to be interesting to see.
- 7:25I don't, I don't necessarily hate the fact that they're
- 7:27calling him up to like, I don't mind the fact that like we can
- 7:34kind of get these jitters out of the way.
- 7:36We can kind of get any, any like big league hiccups out of the
- 7:41way. Not saying he won't, you know,
- 7:43trip and fall throughout his career.
- 7:45Like maybe we can get some of this stuff out of the way now
- 7:47and then just hopefully hit the ground running going into next
- 7:50year and maybe you can establish yourself as the number 2 starter
- 7:55there next year, you know, in in spring training, maybe, I don't
- 8:02know. Jerry Jones is not coming back
- 8:06next year, right? Not to start the year.
- 8:11I would I would venture to say he.
- 8:13Would is he going to make it back in time?
- 8:15No. No, no, definitely not for the
- 8:17start of the year. I don't, I don't believe.
- 8:18But I mean, at some point you'll see a rotation that features
- 8:22him. Skeens Chandler, Although it
- 8:26makes me go going back to your point about like, well, are we
- 8:29going to look back at this and be like they were in the same
- 8:31rotation, unlike the way that we do with the Dodger or the the
- 8:36Tigers? Excuse me, we're not going to
- 8:39look back at that rotation and be like, how did that pirates
- 8:44team, how did that era of Pirates teams not win a World
- 8:47Series? That's the that's the big
- 8:49difference there between the the Tigers example.
- 8:51But I'm I'm with you, I'm with you on the rotation.
- 8:57But yeah, the whatever I'm I'm I'm out on the way.
- 9:03They it's just it's, it's anti climactic, it's lackluster, it's
- 9:12manipulation, it's uncertainty, it's all of the things that the
- 9:18pirates love to love to roll out with any sort of move or
- 9:25announcement. It's it's just how they do
- 9:27things. So regard like I said regarding
- 9:31this year, not all that not all that excited, but we'll see
- 9:36hopefully, hopefully things are we hit the ground running with
- 9:40that rotation next year and and 2026 will behold a little more
- 9:45excitement. Behold Speaking of excitement,
- 9:49this Yankees team seems to have figured it out offensively.
- 9:54No, tell me tell me about it. We we just witnessed a their
- 9:58second nine Homer game of the season, which I got to be honest
- 10:05with you, I don't I don't think I realized that they did it the
- 10:09first time in what, like the second game of the season?
- 10:14Is that what I read because I forgot I was like, how how long
- 10:17ago we talking here? Was this recent?
- 10:19No, it was literally the second. Game this is That was the spark
- 10:21of the torpedo bats. That's right.
- 10:27That's right. You know, I was, I side note
- 10:29here, I was thinking about that the other day and I was just
- 10:33thinking of various, various events from the season to really
- 10:38put into perspective how long this year has felt.
- 10:41Torpedo bats feel like a while ago, huh?
- 10:42That feels like last year almost, the fact that Raphael
- 10:47Devers was on this Red Sox team. This year, I don't.
- 10:51It's just, you know, it just feels rather long.
- 10:54Any who's? Pretty wild.
- 10:56Looks like the Yankees have have maybe figured something out.
- 11:00I mean, offense has never really been a part of the issue.
- 11:05They lead the league in in a lot of big categories offensively,
- 11:09but they also it's just it's very tall peaks and very low
- 11:14valleys per huge, a little bit of a hot streak.
- 11:21I guess that helps that torn Steinbrenner field is tiny and
- 11:31it's a home away from home. I guess that helps.
- 11:35I think I, I heard something recently that like if you remove
- 11:39their games that they've scored 10 plus runs this year, which is
- 11:46a lot. They're under 500, something
- 11:51crazy like that. There's like a good chunk of
- 11:55games that they've scored more than ten runs, so they just, it
- 11:58kind of shows up and then other stuff shows up when they suck,
- 12:03you know what I mean? Bad base running rough defense,
- 12:06whatever it may be. Think they have the highest?
- 12:09Bad bullpen. I think they got the most runs,
- 12:11score like top three and run scored.
- 12:16This year, that's what I'm saying, like offense.
- 12:17Offense is not really the the problem here.
- 12:22It's just a lot of the other stuff.
- 12:27But yeah, it's cool to see, man. Caballero got in there twice.
- 12:31I like Caballero, by the way. That guy, you freaking hate him
- 12:37if he's playing anywhere else but he he's on your team.
- 12:40You're like, I love this guy. I, I have to admit, I saw this
- 12:43name pop up when when this game was happening and they're just
- 12:47launching ball after ball and I'm like I in the flurry of
- 12:52things, I completely forgot Cabrera was on the team.
- 12:54I know, I know. But I'm with you.
- 12:57I feel the same way. And we've talked about him
- 12:59before. The guy hate the guy.
- 13:01If if he's anywhere else except your team, there's there's
- 13:05there's a handful of of names around the league that are that
- 13:08fit, that fit that bill. But you know, whatever, I'm
- 13:12happy. Happy for you, I guess.
- 13:14Yeah, he got into a couple, barely got into a couple.
- 13:17Stanton looks pretty good. So I don't know, we'll see this.
- 13:21I mean, this four-game set with the Yanks, I mean with the Sox
- 13:25this weekend is like kind of all that matters, you know what I
- 13:28mean? Really doesn't matter what
- 13:32everything leading up to this. It's just this is the true
- 13:35barometer. I think this series kind of
- 13:40tells us what the rest of the season is going to come down to.
- 13:48I'm glad you brought this up. How are you feeling?
- 13:50You well, I was going to ask would oh, you're interested?
- 13:55Could I interest you? Could I interest you in in a?
- 13:58Wager of sorts? What kind of wager?
- 14:03We have to think on this. We can revisit it at the end if
- 14:05I think of something, but something will have to be agreed
- 14:09upon prior to first pitch of game one because as you
- 14:11mentioned, this is a four-game set coming up.
- 14:13So, yeah, yeah. I don't know.
- 14:18Here's what I will say Sunday. I have my fantasy draft starting
- 14:27literally 30 minutes after first pitch Sunday night baseball, so
- 14:33I'm not going to watch like any of the game, which kind of makes
- 14:37me feel like a wagers just may not be worth it, you know what I
- 14:42mean? Pitching wise looks nice for the
- 14:46Yanks. It lines up nice.
- 14:47I don't know how the how it lines up for the Sox.
- 14:51We've got our, we've got our arms going.
- 14:53We've got, I think we've got crochet going.
- 14:59I thought it was Friday, but looking like Saturday, maybe
- 15:04Brian Baio versus Max for, oh, that's Friday Game 1.
- 15:08Lucas Gilido versus Luis Gil, Brian Baio versus Max Freed,
- 15:14Saturday Crochet versus Will Warren, and then Sunday, Sunday
- 15:20Night Baseball, Dustin May versus Carlos Rodon.
- 15:23It's going. To be electric?
- 15:29I don't know, maybe not. I mean, I, I threw a wager out
- 15:34and you backed away from it because of foot, because of your
- 15:37fans, just football draft. I don't get to watch if I can't
- 15:41watch. It's like, what's the point of
- 15:43of the wager? We'll revisit it if we need to.
- 15:47We'll revisit it about it. Speaking of revisiting, can we
- 15:52revisit this Kyle Tucker collapse downfall?
- 16:01What is going on with Kyle Tucker right now?
- 16:07I guess I didn't really realize it's been pooped.
- 16:09Do you understand? How do you need?
- 16:11Do you want me to walk, walk you through how bad it's been?
- 16:15It's been horrendous. We are now at 31.
- 16:19Yesterday was A and even 30 days since his last home run.
- 16:26We are now at 31 days without a Kyle Tucker home run.
- 16:30We're at two extra base hits. Count them two extra base hits
- 16:37since a month ago today, July 20th.
- 16:41Since July 20th, he's hitting 171.
- 16:45Coming into today, 14 hits, 5 ribbies, and an OPS of 5/22.
- 16:55You think that's bad? Let's take it to the beginning
- 16:58of July. Let's extend this out even
- 17:00further. Since July 1st, Kyle Tucker's
- 17:03hitting 189 with a single home run, 10 RB is and an OPS of 562
- 17:11for 20 coming into today, 2 for 25 in his past seven games and
- 17:15eight for 54 in the month of August.
- 17:19He's not running the first. He's slamming his helmet.
- 17:22He's been benched. He's in a contract here.
- 17:26This is and like, I hate to single them out, but like I, you
- 17:32know, it was on me for not not addressing this the last time we
- 17:37talked about the Cubs on a on a on a larger scale.
- 17:42And part of that was me thinking like, well, he's bound to turn
- 17:45it around in the next week or so.
- 17:46No, it like it continues to be bad and there's no signs of him
- 17:53really turning around. He's not he's not it's like it
- 17:56it's not even the situation of Kyle Tucker making loud contact.
- 18:00He's in the blue. Well, he's in like the the
- 18:03lightish blue on exit Velo hard hit percentage barrels not that
- 18:08great. That's 67th bat speeds 40s.
- 18:11Like it's just not I, I, I don't know what it is.
- 18:20And I've seen people calling like for him to just take an
- 18:23extended like vacation. He's got that weird finger
- 18:27thing. They're like, we'll just roll
- 18:28this into like a 10 day stay on the ILI don't know what's
- 18:33happening. In the Phantom IO visit, maybe
- 18:36that's all that is. Oh boy, his buddy, his buddy
- 18:41PCAI think has has cooled down significantly.
- 18:46I think he he maybe has turned it on as of late, but there for
- 18:50a while he really was was plummeting back down to earth.
- 18:55I feel like every team that is in the running is ear to ear
- 19:03smiling over this slump we're losing.
- 19:08I don't know, is 10s of millions of dollars in exaggeration?
- 19:18Like what are his overall numbers this year?
- 19:20Where are we at for the season? Is it enough to like start
- 19:24tanking those? No, he's had like, he's having
- 19:27an OK year, but for a guy that coming into the season, people
- 19:31are asking whether or not he was going to, he was going to match
- 19:35Vladdy's $500 million contract, I don't know that what he's done
- 19:42this year warrants that. What are the What's the line?
- 19:48What's this year's? Line 261, 18 homers, 62 RB is 25
- 19:55swipes. He's got a he's.
- 19:56He's already accumulated a WAR of 4.1, which I think I read is
- 20:02like a notch above Soto's actually.
- 20:06I mean, that's a good year. That's.
- 20:07What I'm saying it's a good year, but is it what I mean,
- 20:14what are we talking about here? Or is are our teams going to
- 20:19look at this and say, well, we'll give them the benefit of
- 20:20the doubt? I mean, sure, if there's a
- 20:22bidding war that takes place, then then you kind of just throw
- 20:25that argument out the window. Like people are like the market
- 20:28is going to pay them what these teams are willing to to outbid
- 20:32each other with. But just say it was down to one
- 20:37team, which it won't be. But just in a hypothetical
- 20:40situation, say one team was interested in Kyle Tucker,
- 20:43they're going to look at this and go, no, we're like we've
- 20:47seen, we've seen way too many guys burnt.
- 20:50Like how how many more examples of, and I've said this before,
- 20:54how many more examples of lengthy overpriced contracts do
- 20:59we need to see fail before teams start going not paying you that?
- 21:06And teams still do it. They still do it, but with a guy
- 21:11like Kyle Tucker, and I'm not writing Kyle Tucker's career off
- 21:17by any stretch. I'm just saying for this, this
- 21:19contract that he's due, I just don't know that he's been able
- 21:24to salvage the entirety of what he was going to get with the way
- 21:29he's hit the last two months, the better part of two months.
- 21:36I don't know, it's hard to say. 28 years old at the moment.
- 21:42Average is 5.8 WAR per season career 139 OPS plus.
- 21:54Yeah. I mean it's it's tough to say
- 21:59man. I think the good thing is that
- 22:05he doesn't strike out a ton. He obviously had provides a lot
- 22:09of value on the bases, so there's ways that he can impact
- 22:13the game, but he also doesn't walk a ton either.
- 22:15You know what I mean? It's good, but it's not great.
- 22:23It's just hard to, it's just hard to like be like, Oh yeah,
- 22:26he's a lock for half a bill. I don't know.
- 22:29All right, let's, let's do it. Let's let's roll with that
- 22:32exercise. Let's just say who's to who's to
- 22:35really know What if you take this back to opening day and you
- 22:40were to forecast to the end of the year and say, OK, what is
- 22:43Kyle Tucker going to get? And this is before any part of
- 22:47this season had played out. Let's just say that number.
- 22:50The answer to that question was 500 million.
- 22:53Some people may disagree. Some people may think it's too
- 22:55much. Some people may think it's not
- 22:57enough. Let's just say it was 500
- 23:00million. How much do we think as of right
- 23:06now? How?
- 23:06What do you think that number is now?
- 23:23400 you think he's lost $100 million with a somewhat lack
- 23:34level again for his standards, it's a Goodyear it's.
- 23:38AI think, I think that's what I think that's what we have to
- 23:41like. Remember is, is like if we're
- 23:45taking if, if this is a down year, I'd take it.
- 23:48But it like where do you draw that line financially?
- 23:51You know what I mean? If I is 28, I think some of
- 23:58these teams are going to be in the 12 year conversation, which
- 24:03I think is crazy, but that's to get the AAV down.
- 24:08If you put it at 400, that's 33.33 million a year.
- 24:19That's where I would put him. I think, I think the occasional
- 24:22MVP race, but I, I don't have him in that that upper echelon
- 24:28tier. Personally, I wouldn't give him
- 24:3212 years. I think my sweet spot, I mean,
- 24:38I'd, I'd say eight years and let's give him a $38 million per
- 24:47year that's at three O 4. I'd be happy with that.
- 24:55I'd feel comfortable with that as a team, but I think there's
- 24:57going to be some other teams that drive that up.
- 24:59No doubt, no doubt. You said 838.
- 25:03Yeah, eight years, 38 a year. Yeah, I think that's kind of
- 25:06that. I don't put them above 40 like
- 25:08I, I just. No, I don't know.
- 25:12I think he's good. I think he's really, really
- 25:15good. And I'm really I, I agree with
- 25:18you and I'm really, believe me, I'm not trying to be like a
- 25:20victim of the moment here and be like, oh, Kyle Tucker was just
- 25:23not deserving of a of a, a bag, but.
- 25:30I'm in the camp that it never should have even even been in
- 25:33the 500 conversation. I'm I'm.
- 25:35I'm also with you there, but it's, I don't know.
- 25:43It's it's it says to me, it says a lot to me.
- 25:47If this is how you handle a contract year.
- 25:49Like is it sort of unfair to dictate the next 10 years of a
- 25:55player based on how he performs in the year leading up to said
- 25:58contract? Yeah, I guess if that's solely
- 26:02what you're going to really judge him off of.
- 26:05But at the same time, like if you feel as though you're worthy
- 26:09of that kind of money, you better put you like you got to,
- 26:12you got to show up and and show out.
- 26:17And he just hasn't. He hasn't done that.
- 26:18And not only has he not done that, he's been, I don't want to
- 26:23can we say like a little, little bit of a head case as of late.
- 26:27And I get it. I'm, I'm sure the frustration
- 26:29has been building. He's getting booed out of
- 26:32Wrigley right now. I, I, I can only imagine that
- 26:35that's a just a miserable place to be, especially when you're
- 26:39reminded that this is a contract here.
- 26:43But again, if a team is going to commit X amount of years, X
- 26:48amount of hundreds of millions of dollars, you're, you're going
- 26:54to have to prove that you're worth it.
- 26:55And he's just not. He's not doing it right now.
- 26:58What do you do you have like the month to month splits pulled up
- 27:01by chance just over his career Like it It makes you wonder, is
- 27:06this is this a typical struggle phase and this is just the worst
- 27:11it's been? Let's see here you're saying
- 27:17month to month. Yeah, over his career.
- 27:25Let's see. I don't want.
- 27:29It's giving me a season. Hold on.
- 27:33Let me find his career. I can always find this when I'm
- 27:42just perusing around. Perusing.
- 27:46Here we go. Here we go.
- 27:47Career splits, all right, month to month.
- 27:53So we're in August, so really, let's go.
- 27:56September, which is absolutely absurd.
- 27:58So it's been well, so it's been the better part of two months.
- 28:01So let's go back. OK, so career June, he's a 312
- 28:06hitter. July plummets to 2:58.
- 28:11OK. And it only bumps up to 270 in
- 28:15August, September, October, however, it's 281.
- 28:19So I think an upward, an upward turn is is looming for Kyle
- 28:26Tucker. However, the numbers that I read
- 28:30off to you are. Definitely a lot lower than
- 28:32that. A lot lower than that.
- 28:34So even if there is an upward turn, I don't know if you can,
- 28:39if you're going to be able to balance it out that much to get
- 28:44you back above water. Yeah.
- 28:46It's hard to say, man. I don't know.
- 28:48It's probably just the added pressure, like you said, being
- 28:53in a walk here. I don't think the the postseason
- 29:01run is a factor. Obviously, just with him having
- 29:04so much success as an Astro, I think he's used to that.
- 29:07It's kind of crazy to think that like normally you see like the
- 29:11cold weather affect guys in Chicago early in the season and
- 29:15then once it warms up, they heat up.
- 29:18It's kind of been the opposite here.
- 29:19But maybe he's a little tired. I don't know.
- 29:25I don't know. I.
- 29:27Kind of. It's a day off.
- 29:28Well, he he doesn't, he has a day off.
- 29:30He's benched. He's been benched.
- 29:31Days off. Yeah, that's been happening.
- 29:34Speaking of getting benched, Victor Robles is going to be
- 29:39spending some time on a bench suspended for 10 games after
- 29:42his. Just.
- 29:48Meltdown, although I think if we're being fair here, seems
- 29:55like it was kind of warranted. Now, I say that with the caveat
- 30:01that I don't know if I'm, I'm not going to arrive at a, a
- 30:05point where I'm condoning throwing bats.
- 30:08However, the meltdown and just losing it, I kind of get because
- 30:14when you go back, you, you put things into context over the,
- 30:18the few days that led up to the bat being thrown.
- 30:23You're like, OK, I kind of get where the where the hot
- 30:26headedness was coming from. Do you, are you aware of like
- 30:30everything that kind of led up to this?
- 30:32All I saw was that he was like hit, hit by pitch like a bunch,
- 30:36right? Bro was hit like 3-4 five times
- 30:40and which was also kind of weird that he, he swung it like half
- 30:44of them. But yeah, man, he, he got to the
- 30:49he, he was, he had been hit so many times in such a short
- 30:52stretch, short span that there was a couple, a or like one or
- 30:57two ABS where he's in the furthest part of the box that
- 31:03you can be in. And in fact, in that at bat when
- 31:09there was 2 strikes, started walking back towards the dugout
- 31:12before the ball had even crossed the plate.
- 31:15And then the next day gets hit and it's like, I've had it picks
- 31:22the bat up. Umpires like, whoa, brother,
- 31:25relax. And wouldn't you know it, there
- 31:28goes the bat. What are the kids call it
- 31:31nowadays? Crash it.
- 31:33The crash out. It crashed out.
- 31:34This this was a crash out of crash outs if we've seen one.
- 31:38Cool. Recently, man, this was a
- 31:41meltdown. He apologized on social
- 31:45afterwards. I haven't seen the angle of the
- 31:52bat throw except for the side like the first base side.
- 31:57That's the only angle I've seen you.
- 31:58I doubt we're going to see it then.
- 32:00This is a minor league operation.
- 32:01I don't know that they've got a a bevy of camera angles.
- 32:06I would have liked to seen was it was it ever close?
- 32:11I don't know. What's your favorite crash out
- 32:15as far as like from a from a hitter?
- 32:21I like the I like, there's a couple.
- 32:31I like the Manny. If we're talking crash outs
- 32:34here, I like the Manny one where I think it was Clemens came up
- 32:38and in but it was nowhere near his head.
- 32:43Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he. Was looking for it to be in his
- 32:47head and just comes unglued and then what was another one?
- 32:53The Bryce one always cracks me up where he throws the helmet at
- 32:56Hunter Strickland and it goes like to first base.
- 33:01That trend you remember where it was like the helmet would just
- 33:04go just like flowing through space.
- 33:09You remember those videos? I'll.
- 33:12Tell you what, man, I love our sweet young Prince, but he has
- 33:16his moments, man. Like I'm like, what are you
- 33:19doing like that? And then the when they were
- 33:23playing over in London slide, I'm like, dude, stop.
- 33:28Yeah, that was those were no good.
- 33:30I'll go, I'll throw it back in time.
- 33:32Don't know who it was, but it's a classic clip of the kick to
- 33:38the catcher's mask and then Sprint out.
- 33:41This very much minded me of that.
- 33:43I'm curious, like we know what park that was in because I'm
- 33:47like it looks it looked kind of similar if I recall, but no,
- 33:51that was I mean that's got to be that's top tier.
- 33:54That means that's an A little. Bit electric, yeah.
- 33:58I mean, that's like, that was like from the 70s, wasn't it?
- 34:02No, dude, that was dude that was.
- 34:07Oh boy. It was from our from from our
- 34:10childhood. Who the?
- 34:13Heck yeah, dude, I'm telling you.
- 34:14No, I'm dead serious. It was a guy we watched when we
- 34:17were younger. Who the Oh who the heck was it?
- 34:29Izzy Alcantara. That's not who I remember that
- 34:31being, I swear. Oh, no, no, no.
- 34:33You know what I'm thinking of? Wasn't Jose Offerman.
- 34:43You remember Jose Offerman? Does that name?
- 34:45That name? Please tell me that name rings a
- 34:47bell. No.
- 34:48Oh man. I think Jose Offerman.
- 34:53Yeah, the Izzy Alcantara 1, I think that was that was the one
- 34:59I was thinking of, but I thought it was way older than that.
- 35:03Oh yeah, this is the one. OK, check this out.
- 35:07Let me get this. Picture on the loop.
- 35:09So good. Let me get this picture up here
- 35:11dude. This is the one I was thinking
- 35:13of. Check this one out.
- 35:17This is when I said Jose Offerman.
- 35:18This is what I was thinking of. This one right here.
- 35:24That's nice dude. Bro took the bat with him.
- 35:29Those are some good crash outs man.
- 35:32That's what I was thinking of when you were talking about the
- 35:35OR. That's why that's why I thought
- 35:37did the kicking. But that was not Jose Offerman.
- 35:39This is Jose Offerman. Love me, what a crash out.
- 35:43What a wild scene. Any who's?
- 35:46Yeah, some funny, some not so funny.
- 35:49More like concerning. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:53I mean, you don't love to see it doesn't need to happen too
- 35:56often, but I like them. I mean, if if we're talking
- 36:04crash outs here, the the Robin Ventura, whatever was going
- 36:09through his mind when he decided I'm going to head out, I'd have
- 36:14a have a talking to with. I I think he, I think he
- 36:18regretted it when he, when he almost got there, when he almost
- 36:22got there. I I think he, I think it was a
- 36:26rough decision. Yeah.
- 36:28I also love when you see a first baseman come out of nowhere and
- 36:31just level the hitter just off the frame.
- 36:34Ray Lewis, flatten the hitter to protect the pitcher.
- 36:38Those are my favorite. I think that happened with the
- 36:41James shield. Somebody have to check me on
- 36:44this James shield for the rays again.
- 36:47He threw a Coco Crisp. Coco Crisp came running out Red
- 36:51Sox and I believe. That was the OR Kevin Euclis was
- 36:59involved. I think it was the punch.
- 37:01And then like completely. Was that Coco Crisp?
- 37:05That was Coco Crisp. I'm trying to think of the
- 37:08example you mentioned with the first baseman Kevin Euclis
- 37:11levelled somebody, if I recall it.
- 37:13Obviously it wasn't that scenario because obviously he
- 37:16would have been dugout, but Kevin Yuklas did that one time
- 37:21and that he there's a level of guy out and yeah, I'm with you.
- 37:25I love to see stuff like that. But yeah, you know, you know.
- 37:28More of this I don't, I don't need to see the bat.
- 37:30I don't need to see kicks to the face, but I'd like to see a
- 37:33little more rumble, you know, always down for a little tussle.
- 37:39Some hands being thrown. Yeah, we're about it.
- 37:42We're due for it. Speaking of some this weekend
- 37:46between our teams. I don't know.
- 37:48How would you know you're not going to be watching?
- 37:51I said Sunday, loser Sunday. That could be the one for all
- 37:56the marbles. Could be, not really.
- 38:02It can't. It's a four-game.
- 38:03Set it. Could be for all the marbles.
- 38:06If one team goes in with two wins and a loss, that's the
- 38:11difference between a three one series win and a tie.
- 38:15So. Yeah, it could be.
- 38:17Marbles, yeah, I don't know. I'd say A31 series is pretty.
- 38:25That's pretty substantial. Any who's Speaking of
- 38:28substantial? Michael Harris, That'll that'll
- 38:35wake you up. Michael Harris, the second over
- 38:39the last 15 days slash games, hitting four O 6, seven home
- 38:47runs, 18 RB is and an OPS of 12/19.
- 38:51It was requested by by someone in our fantasy chat.
- 38:59We're taking requests. We're taking requests, but like
- 39:03I said, I'm not just going to throw somebody in Willy nilly if
- 39:06if it's not warranted. In fact, I which you may have
- 39:10not seen this on our on our shared note, I'd actually added
- 39:14a name and removed it after did a little more digging around.
- 39:18Not going to name the name, but just said no, doesn't meet the
- 39:24criteria. What's the criteria you ask?
- 39:26I don't know. I just know it when I see it.
- 39:28And this particular individual, it's gut didn't didn't make the
- 39:32cut. So maybe try, maybe try again
- 39:34next week. Can you read stats again and I
- 39:37missed it? Four O 6.
- 39:41What's the span? 15 days, four O 6-7 homers, 18
- 39:48ribbies and a 12/19 OPS, according to Sleeper MLB on
- 39:53Twitter. In the last 15 days, he ranks
- 39:55first in batting average, first in home runs, first in RBIs,
- 39:59first in hits, first in slug and 2nd in OPS.
- 40:02Let's. Go a couple weeks.
- 40:06I'd like to see what that brings the overall numbers up to.
- 40:11It's, I think it's been a strong second-half, like, not just
- 40:15this. I've heard that.
- 40:16This Spain, I think it go, it goes a little bit further than
- 40:18that. So, so good.
- 40:20On the it's up to 260 now. Good on Michael Harris you.
- 40:25Up to seven O 5 OPS now. Talking about guys you've just
- 40:30written off, that was another guy where you're like, I'm, what
- 40:33was it that you said? You're like, I'm so I'm done,
- 40:37man. I'm done with the hype.
- 40:39This was no more than three weeks ago.
- 40:44They still had a 95 OPS plus, so you're talking like, I don't
- 40:48know, I'm not going to get a super.
- 40:52Canon is Canon, but Canon ain't the overall Canon, you know what
- 40:56I mean? It's a short little Canon.
- 41:05Good, good couple. Weeks, though, I hear you.
- 41:08Meaningless baseball down there in Atlanta.
- 41:12Can we get a check real quick on that specifically the a, the
- 41:16Braves and the Orioles, two teams that are kind of they're
- 41:19pretty much out of it. But also like, I mean, or is
- 41:24there any shot here? Where are we at with the Braves?
- 41:26The Orioles have been kind of hot for like a month now.
- 41:30They literally have. Oh no, I was going to say they
- 41:34almost have the same record. Braves are 5769.
- 41:37O's are 59 and 67. Yeah, always been hot Ish won
- 41:43three straight or six and four in the last 10.
- 41:47But I think if you extrapolate it out a little further, I think
- 41:50it's I think it it's better than what that what that last 10
- 41:53would show you. Yeah, but even still a cams
- 41:58under. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 42:04I think it's still it's it's it's still rough, but I think
- 42:07it's respectable ball nowadays. Respectable.
- 42:10Respectable. Speaking of the O's Trevor
- 42:15Rogers over this last over his last five starts, he's three and
- 42:21one with an ERA of one O 3 and 32 strikeouts going back to from
- 42:32his June 23rd start on which amounts to looks like 10 starts.
- 42:41He is not allowed more than two earned runs in any of those
- 42:44starts, and he's putting up stupid numbers in fantasy for
- 42:52those that care. Stupid Numbers
- 42:5727112220122624142123 Gross and on the.
- 43:04Year. Some people are still paying
- 43:08attention to fantasy, not I. You're still making moves.
- 43:14I see. I see in the transaction.
- 43:16I just had to make sure that I won the first week of the
- 43:19consolation bracket. You know, that's it.
- 43:21After that, I'm kind of, you know.
- 43:28On the year, I'm still fighting for my life out here.
- 43:31I'm still, I'm still grinding out here in these streets.
- 43:33Trevor Rogers though on the year having having a very solid year,
- 43:40ERA of 141, a WHIP of .80 across 76 and a third innings 67 KS to
- 43:48just sixteen walks. Very nice cannon.
- 43:57Oh yeah, here we go. This is from Lewis analysis on
- 44:02Twitter. Trevor Rogers, 2025 seasons
- 44:06Widely overlooked since 2000, Trevor Rogers 141 ERA Ranks
- 44:10third among single season ERA by starter with a minimum 70
- 44:15innings pitch, trailing only 2012 Chris Medlin and 2021 Jacob
- 44:21degrom. It's good company.
- 44:27Which one's Trevor again? The one that pitches for the
- 44:32O's. No disrespect, as I've
- 44:34mentioned. Yeah, noted.
- 44:36That's that's crazy, dude. I just, I just explained to you
- 44:41who we're talking about here. I know and I think I played with
- 44:43them. And and lastly.
- 44:48Whoops. Hold on, I've asked you this
- 44:51like a dozen times. Can we confirm?
- 44:52Is this the one whose? Phone number.
- 44:54I don't. I don't know.
- 44:55I don't know. Can you play Tyler or Trevor?
- 44:57I can never remember. I can.
- 44:59Whoever it is and be like, yo, are you the one that's like kind
- 45:02of good or are you the one that's?
- 45:03Like kind of Tyler, I have Tyler, I have Tyler.
- 45:07I'm sure, I'm sure he changed his number.
- 45:10I had since then. I don't understand how that
- 45:12happens, but any who's I? Don't know either.
- 45:15Lastly here, Jacob Lopez of my Sacramento A's over his last six
- 45:25starts, four and one, with an ERA of 18-O42 strikeouts.
- 45:31He has given the A's in his last three starts 10 strikeouts in
- 45:40his most recent, 9 the outing before that and eight the outing
- 45:45before that in that span. Those 27 strikeouts are the most
- 45:50in baseball. So Jake Lopez, Jacob, no, stop.
- 45:55I'm not. Nope, not going to allow it.
- 45:58You're not. You can't just jump camp
- 46:00whenever you want to. What?
- 46:01Are you talking about? I've never left that camp, OK?
- 46:06I'm not even going to dignify that with a response.
- 46:11Speaking of a camp, I've never left our guy.
- 46:14No, you know what, he would. I didn't even have him listed in
- 46:18the credit Canon segment. But he is our boy, and he just
- 46:23reached the fat, the youngest royal to do it.
- 46:28By the way, our boy, our sweet boy.
- 46:34Bobby Witt, Junior, 100. Sweet young Prince right here.
- 46:40No, the real no, no, he even he would disagree with you, the
- 46:45real Prince. You'd say no, no, I'm not this.
- 46:49I'm not this too old. That's no, you're all wrong.
- 46:55Bobby Witt Junior, the youngest royal to hit the hundred career
- 46:59Homer mark. Promo code 3 O take 10% off
- 47:05Chinook seeds. Next, cedary.com.
- 47:11That broke Carlos Beltran's previous record of 26 years and
- 47:14108 days back in 2003. Bobby Witt did it at 25 years
- 47:18old and 66 days on. Freaking.
- 47:22Stud, that's our boy man going out there and making us proud.
- 47:29Love to see that for the kid. Love to see that.
- 47:32You know what I don't love to see Felix Batista back on the
- 47:38shelf. Another major surgery getting
- 47:42his torn rotator cuff and torn labrum repaired.
- 47:46So he will be out. I think I saw minimum of 12
- 47:51months. So miss.
- 47:54Going to miss the remainder this year.
- 47:57Going to miss a good portion of next year.
- 48:03That sucks man. It's tough.
- 48:07He came back this year and had I think what was it, 19 saves?
- 48:12Yeah, 19 saves and ERA OF26-O and was only able to tally 34
- 48:192/3 innings this year. So another another tough blow
- 48:24for the OS. However, yeah, lore in the chat.
- 48:29We don't expect Felix back till 2027.
- 48:31That's probably a safe bet, especially with the the
- 48:35back-to-back in nature it seems of of.
- 48:39Yeah. Being being put on the shelf the
- 48:42way he has, probably better to take it a little slower this
- 48:45time around and just maybe punt till 2027.
- 48:48But. You'd think that maybe we'd get
- 48:52back to pitching at some point in this sport.
- 48:58Just maybe. What is enough?
- 49:01Enough, You know what I mean. How many elbow surgeries do we
- 49:05need to see? While the sad reality of it is,
- 49:11and I'm not just so I'm not talking Batista here, I'm
- 49:13talking more broadly here, the more guys that can come up and
- 49:19pump 101, the more dispensable these guys become and the less
- 49:27that these teams are going to care.
- 49:29They're just going to say, OK, next guy up, it's going to
- 49:33become a factory. We're just pumping 101 out one
- 49:37guy after the next. It's not going to they're
- 49:40they're not going to do anything about it.
- 49:48Don't know, man. It just is.
- 49:50I don't know. I don't know what it takes
- 49:52actually. Go ahead.
- 49:55No, that's a great thought. That's a great thought.
- 49:57I was just going to say this is like baseball's The the, the,
- 50:03the UCL, the elbow, the shoulder epidemic in baseball is like our
- 50:08version of the concussion. CTE stuff in football.
- 50:15Well, yeah, less about the result and more about just the
- 50:20conversation that surrounds it and like the the stigma where
- 50:24it's like, we don't need to talk about that, Just watch this guy
- 50:28throw 102. It's like.
- 50:31At some point we need to have these conversations because we
- 50:39at some point the human body is going to top out like you're
- 50:42going to Max out you can. And I remembered, I remember a
- 50:47friend of the pod, Dallas Braden talked about this, or he may
- 50:50have even tweeted about it, but he's talking about, and you were
- 50:56in coaching more recently than I would.
- 50:58So you would probably be able to work through the details of what
- 51:02he said more. But he's just talking about like
- 51:04the recoil and the stress that that puts on your arm and the
- 51:08harder you're throwing, you eventually get to a point where
- 51:11your arm isn't able to to, to stop the forward motion the same
- 51:16way and recoil the same way. And that that stress is what
- 51:19ultimately leads to the demise of the arm.
- 51:23And he's basically just talking about how like, we're eventually
- 51:25going to get to a point where it's you are not going to be
- 51:28able to go any further physically.
- 51:32So that's kind of where we're headed, it seems.
- 51:35But I guess these these franchises are just going to
- 51:39pinch their nose and hold their ground.
- 51:43Keep on trucking. Last thing I got here, merch
- 51:51drop on Friday. That's nice.
- 51:57There's some good stuff coming. New merch dropping Friday.
- 52:04Let's see, is there anything I can like, hint at?
- 52:09Oh, well, some some of what's included.
- 52:13We actually. We've already discussed.
- 52:15It we were talking about in in plain sight, in open air on
- 52:22Sunday when we're. Shouting out to those hanging
- 52:24out for the stream. When we were keeping our keeping
- 52:27book, teaching folks how to keep book, we were just talking about
- 52:29it right there in the open. And and sure enough, those one
- 52:33or two of those items may have stuck their way into the drop.
- 52:36But yeah, we've got let me see here.
- 52:41Got some actually, no, I'm not even going to say it.
- 52:46Those have to wait and see. Yeah, I like that.
- 52:50Friday. Friday, Good stuff for the for
- 52:55the fall, you know. Oh yeah.
- 52:57For autumn, does anyone still say autumn?
- 53:03Anyone out there still? I feel like that's like a
- 53:07someone saying supper instead of dinner.
- 53:09Yep, I don't say supper and I certainly don't say autumn.
- 53:14Me neither. I wouldn't mind being a supper
- 53:18person someday. I think that's something that
- 53:20you just. That's in your future, I can see
- 53:22it. You just kind of ease into it,
- 53:26get some, get you a nice little 5:00 supper.
- 53:28Well, you're not. You're not saying supper in
- 53:31Arizona in Chandler, AZ? Yeah, it's true.
- 53:35You got to get South in East. I can't go much further South.
- 53:41Otherwise it turns into Dang what's dinner in Spanish?
- 53:55That's not where you where I thought you're going with that.
- 53:57Well, that's what's South of us. It's breakfast is Desai Uno, if
- 54:05I'm not mistaken. Lunch is is it like ALM almuerso
- 54:14or something? Almuerza.
- 54:19Oh no, it is. The masculine is almuerso.
- 54:21How about look at that pole? Breakfast.
- 54:24A masculine lunch. Heck yeah, brother.
- 54:29Breakfast is Desai Uno the OK and then hold on dinner.
- 54:33I wanted to say dinero. That's that's money.
- 54:37That's. Too easy, that was That was too
- 54:38easy. If that was the case, shoot.
- 54:47Oh, it's it's something with AC we.
- 54:51Have an answer in the chat. I'm not looking, I can't even
- 54:54see the chat right now. Dinner in Spanish.
- 54:56It's something with AC Sena. John Cena.
- 55:05How about it? I knew of something with AC.
- 55:08How about that full? That's Spanish one really paying
- 55:12dividends. I took three years of Spanish.
- 55:16None of it stuck and my last name is Reyes and I live in
- 55:23Arizona. Not for long if you want to be a
- 55:26supper guy. I can get it done at Taco Bell
- 55:29on Chipotle though, let me tell you.
- 55:32I'm Bam. I'm I think I'm out on Chipotle,
- 55:34man. The the I am.
- 55:36Too. It is crazy.
- 55:38We ordered it last week and Paige got a steak burrito bowl
- 55:46tortsy on the side because that's the signature move.
- 55:51We counted 5 pieces of steak. Are you serious, $14.00 Five
- 56:00pieces of steak. Well, honestly, that's kind of
- 56:05on you. Wait, did you say you ordered
- 56:08this? You were on site for this order
- 56:10or was this delivered or pick up?
- 56:13I ordered through the app that's.
- 56:16They that's how they get you, man.
- 56:17That's come on, that's a rookie mistake.
- 56:20Going in person, what a yoke I do.
- 56:25I guess that's the trick though. You got to just pull your phone
- 56:28out while you're ordering and they'll load it up for you so
- 56:30they don't get in trouble. I never thought I'm out on
- 56:35Chipotle though. I never thought I'd see the day
- 56:37where you'd be so inconvenienced to just go into a place.
- 56:42It's 110 outside OK. When I'm inside, I'm staying
- 56:47inside. How are you getting the food if
- 56:50you order through the app dropped off?
- 56:53That's what I that's what I asked.
- 56:55I said delivery pick up. You just said through the app
- 56:58delivery, so you had it delivered.
- 57:00That's where, see, that's where they get you because they know
- 57:02there's no accountability. They say.
- 57:07They say they're not going to know it's it's going to be too
- 57:10late before they realize what we've done.
- 57:12And at that point, what are you going to do?
- 57:13You're going to sit there and eat your five pieces of steak
- 57:16like a good boy. I had my chicken bowl and mine
- 57:19was fine. The chips were really terrible
- 57:24though. Soggy and oily.
- 57:26And pounds of salt Pounds. It's crazy how I mean, the fall
- 57:32off, it has to be documented. It's too bad.
- 57:38Yeah, the demise of of Chipotle will be documented and studied
- 57:42for years to come. Crazy what's happening there.
- 57:46They were ruling the land. They had it.
- 57:49They had the world in the palm of their hands.
- 57:50And they said, you know what? We don't want it.
- 57:54Yeah. What a shame.
- 57:56Any who's that's all I got keep an eye out for the merch drop
- 57:59this Friday. Got some big things coming.
- 58:07We'll see you all Sunday. Log out.
- 58:11For supper? Nope.
- 58:14Pre supper, dinner. Make me some supper tonight, I
- 58:19actually do. Need to go eat dinner so let's
- 58:21let's get out of here. Me too.
