- 2:20In case you guys did not know that,
- 2:22this is the daily motivational show.
- 2:25The master weekly topic is master your choices
- 2:28before they master you.
- 2:31How to stop overthinking, series five, show 31,
- 2:35episode number four.
- 2:37Welcome to Inspirations for Your Life.
- 2:41I am John C.
- 2:43Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 2:48podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student at
- 2:52Montclair State University, passionate lifelong learner, and so
- 2:57grateful now to be a published author.
- 3:00Have you ever spent so much time thinking
- 3:03about a decision that you never actually made
- 3:06one?
- 3:07Overthinking often disguises itself as preparation, but in
- 3:11reality, it can steal opportunities, delay progress, and
- 3:15create unnecessary stress.
- 3:17Today, I'm exploring 30 practical principles that will
- 3:20help you think with purpose, take action with
- 3:24confidence, and stop allowing hesitation to control your
- 3:27future.
- 3:28Are you ready?
- 3:28Let's get started.
- 3:30Number one, action always beats hesitation.
- 3:33Thinking has value, but action creates pure results.
- 3:39Progress begins the moment you take the first
- 3:41step, so let's take it.
- 3:44Number two, don't chase certainty.
- 3:47You'll rarely have every answer before making a
- 3:50decision, that's a fact.
- 3:52Learn to move forward with confidence, even when
- 3:55some uncertainty remains within you.
- 3:57Number three, progress beats perfection.
- 4:01Waiting for perfect conditions often delays meaningful progress.
- 4:09Improvement comes through action, not perfection.
- 4:13Number four, focus on today.
- 4:16Don't become overwhelmed by tomorrow.
- 4:19Give your attention to what you can accomplish
- 4:21right now.
- 4:23Trust yourself.
- 4:25You've overcome challenges before.
- 4:27Believe in your ability to learn, adapt, and
- 4:30make good decisions.
- 4:32Number six, simplify your choices.
- 4:37Too many options create confusion.
- 4:39Narrow your focus and make the best decision
- 4:42with the information you have right now.
- 4:46I think that's a skill that a lot
- 4:47of people wish they had, but for whatever
- 4:50reason, they just don't seem to want to
- 4:54master it.
- 4:55Number seven, let go of that false evidence
- 4:58appearing real.
- 4:59Yep, let go of fear.
- 5:00Fear often imagines problems that never happen.
- 5:05Don't allow imagined obstacles to stop real progress.
- 5:09Number eight, replace doubt with action.
- 5:13Confidence grows through doing, not wondering.
- 5:17Every positive action weakens self-doubt.
- 5:20I think that's something a lot of us
- 5:22here need to understand and need to be
- 5:25doing is that we need to know how
- 5:26that works.
- 5:29We need to realize that's a very important
- 5:32thing, right?
- 5:33Positive action is the key.
- 5:36But sometimes, you know, people, they say, well,
- 5:41you know, it always happens this way to
- 5:43me.
- 5:44And as much as I want to motivate,
- 5:46so I say, look, don't do that.
- 5:47I can't make you stop doing that if
- 5:51you don't want to stop doing that, okay?
- 5:55So that's a real important thing.
- 6:02What I want to tell you is that
- 6:05positivity is not overrated, but sometimes your positivity
- 6:09will get, how can I say, crushed because
- 6:15of your past experiences.
- 6:17Don't let that happen, guys.
- 6:19Do not let that happen.
- 6:21I cannot express that to you even more.
- 6:26Do not, do not, do not let that
- 6:29happen.
- 6:30So I think it's important that a lot
- 6:35of people just get that from the get
- 6:38-go and they understand, you know, what it's
- 6:40about.
- 6:41And I think that's a very important thing.
- 6:44But again, I'm going to tell you that
- 6:47this does not happen overnight.
- 6:50You've got to get comfortable, guys.
- 6:53When something gets out of your wheelhouse, you're
- 6:56like, oh my gosh, what am I going
- 6:57to do?
- 6:59And that kind of puts us into this
- 7:01mode like, oh my gosh, like what do
- 7:03I do now, right?
- 7:04Number nine, learn from experience.
- 7:07I think that's an important one, all right?
- 7:09Every decision teaches something valuable.
- 7:14Let experience guide you instead of that false
- 7:17evidence appearing real, which I know many of
- 7:20us see every day, but we really have
- 7:22to move forward.
- 7:24We have to move past it.
- 7:27And that's the key, guys.
- 7:29We have to move past it.
- 7:31Number 10, please stay present.
- 7:36Overthinking often comes, how do I say this,
- 7:40from worrying about the future.
- 7:44Stay focused on today's opportunities, all right?
- 7:48I know you might say, well, gee, I'm
- 7:52waiting for something else.
- 7:53Well, still do the best you can.
- 8:00I think sometimes people just get, how can
- 8:07I say, on the wrong track because they
- 8:12lose confidence in themselves.
- 8:14Because the situation in the past didn't work
- 8:16right, doesn't mean the next situation's going to
- 8:19work that way.
- 8:20But if you keep thinking it is, then
- 8:23you're going to bring that on again.
- 8:25Number 11, guys, learn how to build confidence
- 8:29through action.
- 8:31Action.
- 8:33Every completed task strengthens your belief in yourself.
- 8:37Action creates momentum.
- 8:41Number 12, stop imagining failure.
- 8:45Don't spend your energy creating negative outcomes in
- 8:49your mind because that's what will happen.
- 8:51Focus on what's possible instead.
- 8:55Instead.
- 8:56I think that's a real important thing to
- 9:00understand.
- 9:01Number 13, focus on solutions.
- 9:05Problems deserve attention, but solutions deserve your energy.
- 9:10Look for your next positive step.
- 9:13Your next positive step.
- 9:16Number 14, think with a purpose.
- 9:21Direct your thoughts toward growth, learning, and progress
- 9:26instead of unnecessary worry.
- 9:31Number 15, guys, avoid unnecessary worry.
- 9:35I know a lot of you are saying
- 9:36to me, John, you know, I don't worry.
- 9:38But maybe you're not worrying in your head,
- 9:40but you're actually creating that worry.
- 9:44And see, that worry actually winds up bringing
- 9:47things into your life that you basically don't
- 9:51want.
- 9:54And I know what you're saying to me.
- 9:56I know you're saying to me, John, you
- 9:57know, like, that's not possible.
- 10:01Right?
- 10:02It's not possible.
- 10:03But I'm here to tell you that it
- 10:05is very, very, very possible when you believe.
- 10:14When you believe.
- 10:17All right.
- 10:19If you don't do something, and suddenly something
- 10:23goes the wrong way, then how do you
- 10:26get from point A to point B?
- 10:30Well, you're just going to find yourself lost.
- 10:34Right?
- 10:35And that loss comes, and you're like, oh,
- 10:39my gosh, what do I do now?
- 10:40Right?
- 10:41And it gets worse.
- 10:44So worry rarely improves tomorrow.
- 10:47It usually steals today's peace and, unfortunately, your
- 10:52productivity.
- 10:54Yeah.
- 10:56Number 16, stay mentally strong no matter what
- 10:59you do.
- 11:00A strong mind doesn't ignore challenges.
- 11:05It faces them head on with confidence and
- 11:08chooses progress over panic.
- 11:11Strength grows every time you refuse to quit.
- 11:14Number 17, learn to decide right now.
- 11:19Learn to decide right now.
- 11:23Decision making improves with practice.
- 11:27Trust yourself to make thoughtful choices instead of
- 11:30waiting for perfect certainty.
- 11:31I know a lot of people that they
- 11:34think certainty is the way to go.
- 11:36And they're like, well, I'm not going to
- 11:37do anything because I'm not getting anywhere.
- 11:41I'm not getting anywhere.
- 11:44And I think that's something that, again, a
- 11:46lot of people, for whatever reason, they just
- 11:51don't understand.
- 11:54They don't understand what that means.
- 11:58And I want to tell you that this
- 12:02is something that you definitely can do in
- 12:04your life.
- 12:06All right?
- 12:07And I say this to you in all
- 12:10heart, that it comes down to the fact
- 12:13that you can do these things, right?
- 12:14But sometimes, sometimes people just get lost in
- 12:22this way.
- 12:24And then it's like, oh, my gosh, what
- 12:28am I supposed to do now?
- 12:30What am I supposed to do?
- 12:33And I think that hurts a lot of
- 12:35people because they think that if they do
- 12:41something a certain way, it's going to be
- 12:44this way.
- 12:44But I'm here to tell you it's not
- 12:46like that.
- 12:47You have to become the person you want
- 12:50to be, right?
- 12:52If you don't do that, then you're going
- 12:55to be like, oh, my gosh, what am
- 12:57I supposed to do now?
- 12:58And I'm here to tell you that what
- 13:00you're supposed to do now is to believe
- 13:02in yourself.
- 13:04Believe in yourself.
- 13:07And I know that sounds hard for a
- 13:09lot of people, but believing is the key.
- 13:13Believing is the key.
- 13:18I know that's wild, but I'm here to
- 13:20tell you that it's absolutely the truth, right?
- 13:23It's the truth.
- 13:26Number 18, please keep moving.
- 13:29Don't let hesitation keep you standing still.
- 13:31Even a small step forward is better than
- 13:33no step at all.
- 13:38We have to realize that our progress comes
- 13:42from our thoughts.
- 13:43And our thoughts create action that allow us
- 13:47to move forward.
- 13:49Sometimes, though, we're like, wait a minute.
- 13:51I can't go anywhere.
- 13:52But really, you can.
- 13:54It's just your mind's like tricking you and
- 13:56saying, you can't do this.
- 13:58But really, you can do it.
- 14:00You are so powerful, guys, so powerful, so
- 14:03powerful that if you tell yourself no, you're
- 14:05not going to do something.
- 14:07You're going to basically sabotage yourself from achieving
- 14:13it.
- 14:14Number 19, every decision teaches.
- 14:17Every choice provides feedback.
- 14:20Success builds confidence.
- 14:21While mistakes build wisdom, both will move you
- 14:24forward.
- 14:27And I think that's important to know that
- 14:29when we have a mistake, let's not gloat
- 14:32about it.
- 14:33Let's think, oh my gosh, I made the
- 14:34mistake.
- 14:34Let's say, OK, this is what happened to
- 14:36me.
- 14:36Now let's move from there.
- 14:38Let's move from there.
- 14:39I think that's a very, very important thing
- 14:42for us to be aware of.
- 14:45Number 20, guys, please, please, please, no matter
- 14:49what you do, I ask you to please
- 14:51stay positive.
- 14:52Your mindset shapes your perspective.
- 14:55Looking for possibilities instead of problems makes better
- 14:58decisions easier.
- 15:00I think that's a real win, isn't it?
- 15:02Yeah.
- 15:04Number 21, build momentum.
- 15:08One completed action naturally leads to another one.
- 15:12Momentum turns small victories into meaningful progress.
- 15:18But sometimes we look for progress too quickly.
- 15:21Like, oh, if I don't get this, then
- 15:22I guess I can't go anywhere.
- 15:25Right?
- 15:25I can't go anywhere if this one thing.
- 15:29But I'm here to tell you that you
- 15:31can go somewhere if you believe in yourself.
- 15:38OK?
- 15:38If you believe in yourself, that's pretty cool,
- 15:45guys.
- 15:46Right?
- 15:47And I will tell you that that's an
- 15:50important piece, an important piece that maybe you
- 15:56don't want to know about, but I'm here
- 15:58to tell you that it's going to make
- 15:59a big, big difference for you.
- 16:01OK?
- 16:02A big difference that can change how you're
- 16:07doing something.
- 16:09All right?
- 16:10But it doesn't happen overnight.
- 16:14So turn those small victories into meaningful progress.
- 16:2022, stay disciplined.
- 16:22Discipline keeps us moving when motivation fades.
- 16:25I've told you before, motivation will fade based
- 16:28on your moods.
- 16:29Based on your moods.
- 16:32All right?
- 16:33But discipline stays all the time.
- 16:37All the time.
- 16:40Consistent action always outperforms occasional inspiration.
- 16:45I think that's what we're comparing.
- 16:46We're comparing occasional inspiration.
- 16:48And that's a really big thing to understand.
- 16:53Number 23, please, ladies and gentlemen, improve your
- 16:57day.
- 16:58Small improvements may seem significant, but over time,
- 17:03they create remarkable results.
- 17:05Never stop becoming better.
- 17:08You always can become better, but just because
- 17:12you're not certain of everything doesn't mean that
- 17:15you can't move forward.
- 17:17OK?
- 17:20I think that's an important thing.
- 17:26It's important.
- 17:28It's really, really important.
- 17:29Number 24, guys, think clearly.
- 17:33Avoid letting assumptions or emotions cloud your judgment.
- 17:37Clear thinking produces confident decisions.
- 17:42When we're grounded, when we take our time,
- 17:46there's a big difference.
- 17:48A very big difference.
- 17:52But we have to be grounded.
- 17:55Number 25, act intentionally.
- 18:00Choose your actions with purpose.
- 18:03Intentional decisions keep you focused on what truly
- 18:08matters.
- 18:11Sometimes we may change our priorities for a
- 18:15lot of different reasons.
- 18:17Sometimes we may just tweak them a tiny
- 18:20bit.
- 18:22But the most important thing is that when
- 18:25we have our priorities, we need to be
- 18:30intentional with them.
- 18:31We need to be disciplined.
- 18:35Otherwise, we may get them done and we
- 18:38may not.
- 18:40And when we don't get them done, it
- 18:41actually causes our confidence to fade each time
- 18:46we don't do something.
- 18:48And that's not good for moving forward.
- 18:52Number 26, guys, trust the process.
- 18:57I know the process can be long sometimes,
- 18:59but we have to trust that process.
- 19:01That's probably a real important thing that I
- 19:04could tell you.
- 19:04We have to trust the process.
- 19:07We have to trust the process.
- 19:10Meaningful progress takes time.
- 19:13Stay committed even when results aren't immediately visible.
- 19:22Again, that's pretty powerful, guys, that we can
- 19:26do stuff like that.
- 19:27But how do we make progress when this
- 19:34happens?
- 19:37I think that's a lot.
- 19:40I think that's something that a lot of
- 19:41people, they just don't get it.
- 19:47They think one way, but then they just
- 19:52don't get it.
- 19:55So that's an important piece I want to
- 19:58tell you, like a very important piece.
- 20:03But I get that sometimes it doesn't go
- 20:12where we want it to go.
- 20:18It doesn't go where we want it to
- 20:19go.
- 20:20And that can cause problems for us, and
- 20:25it can actually cause problems for other people.
- 20:33I think that's an important thing that we
- 20:36need to realize.
- 20:42We need to realize what that means to
- 20:47us and what it means to others.
- 20:55Do we know what that means?
- 21:02Maybe not.
- 21:05Maybe not.
- 21:08But it's important to understand so that we
- 21:14can have a better life.
- 21:16Because, you see, when we talk about being
- 21:20committed, when the results aren't visible, we sometimes
- 21:27want to give up and we can't.
- 21:29We have that blind faith.
- 21:31Consistency always pays off.
- 21:34It just takes time.
- 21:37Number 27, please, ladies and gentlemen, believe in
- 21:40yourself.
- 21:42Trust your ability to learn, to adapt, and
- 21:47overcome challenges.
- 21:49Self-belief grows stronger every time you keep
- 21:53moving forward.
- 21:58I don't care if you take one little
- 21:59tiny step, a baby step, as long as
- 22:02it's consistent, you're going to keep moving forward.
- 22:06You're going to have success.
- 22:08Consistency and structure, that's what I said, guys.
- 22:10Number 28, courage defeats overthinking.
- 22:17Courage doesn't eliminate uncertainty.
- 22:21It helps you move forward despite it.
- 22:25Every courageous step weakens hesitation.
- 22:29Every courageous step weakens hesitation.
- 22:35I think that's an important piece, guys.
- 22:38A very important piece.
- 22:42Because if we don't get that one concept,
- 22:47then it'll be like, what happened?
- 22:50Why am I going this way?
- 22:52Why is this doing this to me?
- 22:55What's happening to me?
- 22:59I think that's important to actually understand, to
- 23:05understand how that works or why that works
- 23:08that way.
- 23:08I think that's a very important thing to
- 23:12know.
- 23:14So every courageous step weakens the hesitation that
- 23:19we might be having.
- 23:23Number 29, keep growing, ladies and gentlemen.
- 23:26Every challenge, every lesson, and every decision creates
- 23:29another opportunity to improve your life.
- 23:32Growth is a lifelong journey.
- 23:34So don't just think that because today didn't
- 23:39work, tomorrow's not going to work either.
- 23:44Sometimes it takes a few times.
- 23:47But it's our discipline and attitude that gets
- 23:53us through.
- 23:53You might have heard before, our attitude determines
- 23:57our altitude, and that's exactly correct.
- 24:01Number 30, action creates results.
- 24:06Thinking prepares you, but action changes your life.
- 24:14The future belongs to those who are willing
- 24:17to take the next step, the next step.
- 24:29Not two steps past it, just the next
- 24:31step.
- 24:31In closing today, I want to let you
- 24:35know that overthinking often convinces us that waiting
- 24:38is safer than acting.
- 24:40So we procrastinate, and we just stop.
- 24:43But real confidence is built through true experience,
- 24:48not hesitation, not procrastination.
- 24:51Every decision you actually make is an opportunity
- 24:55to learn, to improve, and move closer to
- 24:58the life you've always wanted.
- 25:02Don't settle.
- 25:03Don't allow fear, false evidence appearing real, doubt,
- 25:07or perfectionism to keep you from taking action,
- 25:11because it will if you let it.
- 25:14Remember, ladies and gentlemen, you don't have to
- 25:18know every answer before taking the first step.
- 25:22That's what so many people do, and they're
- 25:24wondering why this is happening.
- 25:26It's because people think they've got to wait
- 25:29to know every answer, and you don't need
- 25:32to wait to know every answer.
- 25:33Please, ladies and gentlemen, trust yourself.
- 25:36Stay focused on your progress, and keep making
- 25:40thoughtful decisions.
- 25:41The more you learn to act with purpose
- 25:45and intention, the more confidence you'll build, and
- 25:50the easier it becomes to move forward when
- 25:53new opportunities appear.
- 25:56I think that's something that a lot of
- 25:58us need to know.
- 26:00A lot of us need to embrace that,
- 26:03to know that we're not alone, to know
- 26:05that just because I don't have the answer
- 26:07today doesn't mean I can't move forward.
- 26:10It doesn't mean that I can't grow.
- 26:11It doesn't mean that I can't become a
- 26:12better person.
- 26:16Do it anyway.
