- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the first one More Thing of the year twenty
- 0:02Speaker 1: twenty four, Buckle Up, I'm Strong and Getty one more Thing.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Don't give Up, Mona's Babe, lit one Motor and the last.
- 0:25Speaker 1: We lost one of the great singers while we were
- 0:27Speaker 1: on vacation. The Great David Soul died, best known as
- 0:31Speaker 1: Hutch from Starsky and Hutch, the Crime Show, which I
- 0:35Speaker 1: loved as a twelve year old.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Honest, I remembered this song in its genre similar songs
- 0:43Speaker 3: the Great Bread for instance, and your Dan's Vogelberg, etcetera.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Who could write a song.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I remembered it as really wimpy and neutered and a
- 0:54Speaker 3: sexual and flaccid. It's thirty percent worse than I remembered.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Do not.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Put David's Soul together with Dan Fogelberg's old lang zine.
- 1:06Speaker 1: It's even in the same category.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Oh no, it was soft rock, gentle rock. Okay, but
- 1:12Speaker 3: you're you're absolutely right, you're head.
- 1:14Speaker 4: That was an offense against good taste.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Can you play a little more? Play that again?
- 1:19Speaker 5: There?
- 1:19Speaker 1: That's this is the number one song in nineteen seventy seven.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Carter administration. Carter administration, that's when we were the most
- 1:27Speaker 1: flaccid as a country ever. Our cars sucked, our music sucked.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Our president was wearing a sweater and telling us to
- 1:33Speaker 1: turn down the thermostat. It's just awful. No wonder the
- 1:37Speaker 1: Iranians took her hostages just.
- 1:39Speaker 3: To me where it is so weak bats, But they're America.
- 1:43Speaker 4: They're strong.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Oh you think, so listen to this, it'll still come true.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Wow you remember the words? Oh God?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Well, I lived in a world where I didn't have
- 1:56Speaker 1: FM radio growing up. I only had am WI. You
- 1:58Speaker 1: at that time was everything all the time. And uh
- 2:02Speaker 1: and and so yeah, that's I got a lot of
- 2:04Speaker 1: stuff like that. David Soul. Yeah, anyway, he was Uh.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I loved the crime shows as a kid, and I
- 2:11Speaker 1: liked Starskinach and he died at age eighty over the weekend.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So that's enough of that. Last night was the Golden Globes,
- 2:19Speaker 1: which is one of your awards shows that people used
- 2:21Speaker 1: to care about but no longer do, although I still
- 2:24Speaker 1: take a look at it to see what won, just
- 2:25Speaker 1: because it sometimes informs what TV shows are motion pictures
- 2:29Speaker 1: I might want to see. For instance, the Bear one
- 2:31Speaker 1: best TV show and everybody says it is fantastic, succession.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Won a bunch of awards, so yeah, I'll have to
- 2:38Speaker 4: try that one again.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Barbie had the most nominations. I did watch Barbie. I
- 2:42Speaker 1: want to talk about that at some point with my son.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Made my son watch Barbie. Poor guy, what are you
- 2:48Speaker 1: trying to do? I told him, I said, this is
- 2:50Speaker 1: a cultural touchstone, it's up for a bunch of awards,
- 2:52Speaker 1: everybody's talking about it. It just, you know, I just
- 2:54Speaker 1: think it'd be of some use to have He hated me.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It's hard to imagine a fourteen year old boy not
- 3:02Speaker 1: wanting to watch the Barbie movie with his dad. In retrospect,
- 3:05Speaker 1: it was not a good parenting idea, any abuse. I
- 3:09Speaker 1: don't know who this comedian was, who was the host
- 3:11Speaker 1: of the Golden Globes last night, but let's hear a
- 3:13Speaker 1: little a his work.
- 3:14Speaker 6: The key moment in Barbie is when she goes from
- 3:17Speaker 6: perfect beauty to bad breast cell you light and flat
- 3:20Speaker 6: feet or what casting directors call character actor.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Some I wrote, some other people wrote Robert de Niro's.
- 3:32Speaker 6: Here Yo, I got the gig ten days ago.
- 3:35Speaker 4: You want a perfect monologue?
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yo? Shut up?
- 3:40Speaker 4: Woof. I don't know the kind of bombed what a
- 3:44Speaker 4: kind of decent laugh.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Oh wow, okay, and do we have more hym or
- 3:51Speaker 1: is that it? I watched Barbie.
- 3:53Speaker 4: I loved it.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I really did love it.
- 3:56Speaker 6: I don't want you guys to think that I'm a creep,
- 3:59Speaker 6: but it was kind of We're being attracted to a
- 4:01Speaker 6: plastic doll.
- 4:03Speaker 1: It's just something about your eyes, right the whole show.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Just close your eyebrow. Everyone just looks into your eyes
- 4:13Speaker 1: and Margot, it's not always about you. Okay, then one
- 4:18Speaker 1: more joke.
- 4:19Speaker 6: Welcome back. And as you know, we came on after
- 4:22Speaker 6: a football doubleheader. The big difference between the Golden Globes
- 4:26Speaker 6: and the NFL. On the Golden Gloves, we have fewer
- 4:30Speaker 6: camera shots of Taylor Swift.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I swear it's just where to go to. Sorry about that.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Something incredibly unappeeling about that guy. I don't know. I
- 4:39Speaker 1: don't know he's work at all. Kill me.
- 4:43Speaker 4: This is off putting on several levels.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Yeah, uh, before we get to what is supposed to all.
- 4:49Speaker 3: You know what, this is a great example of clickbait klickonomics,
- 4:53Speaker 3: just the stupidity.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Joe Cooy is his name Joe Coy?
- 4:57Speaker 6: J O?
- 4:58Speaker 4: Is that a dude? I assume it's a dude.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Whatever it is anyway, Yeah, he made a terrible joke
- 5:05Speaker 3: about Taylor Swift had bombed and she shot him a
- 5:08Speaker 3: look that froze time. That was a big nothing nothing happened.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, nothing happened. Well, let's play this one thing
- 5:18Speaker 1: that's supposed to be entertaining from Will Ferrell and Kristen
- 5:21Speaker 1: Wig went up as presenters.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Guys, this song does something to us, as you can see,
- 5:29Speaker 5: it always has for decades, and whoever is putting on
- 5:33Speaker 5: this show tonight knows it.
- 5:36Speaker 4: They wanted us to come out here and make a
- 5:38Speaker 4: bunch of jokes and we said no.
- 5:40Speaker 1: We said no, we want to be serious tonight. Why
- 5:43Speaker 1: because it's a serious night. And they knew just what
- 5:47Speaker 1: to do to get what they wanted to play our
- 5:49Speaker 1: favorite song.
- 5:50Speaker 5: We looked ridiculous, like a couple of j holes.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I am embarrassed. The Golden Globes have not changed what
- 6:00Speaker 1: they were talking.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Sounds like there was a strong visual element to that
- 6:03Speaker 4: that we should be informed of.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I don't know, but I was my son and I
- 6:06Speaker 1: did say watching Barbie, thank God for Will Ferrell's appearance
- 6:10Speaker 1: in there. Anything he does is funny. I don't know
- 6:12Speaker 1: what he and Keenan Thompson and a few other people
- 6:16Speaker 1: in the history of the world. Every single thing they
- 6:19Speaker 1: do is funny. I don't know. I don't know what
- 6:21Speaker 1: that talent or ability.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Is well Will Ferrell. I think part of it is
- 6:27Speaker 3: that if a bit isn't working exactly, he will take
- 6:30Speaker 3: it over the top, to the point of setting himself
- 6:32Speaker 3: on fire, right, if that's what it takes to get
- 6:35Speaker 3: the last right.
- 6:36Speaker 1: So my full admission about Barbie is I've not seen
- 6:39Speaker 1: the whole movie, though I plan to now so started
- 6:43Speaker 1: watching the movie about halfway through. I was thinking, you
- 6:46Speaker 1: know this the whole this is woke, and it's a
- 6:52Speaker 1: DEI being shoved down a throat is so overblown and
- 6:55Speaker 1: so stupid, and why we got to quit doing that
- 6:57Speaker 1: on the right blah blah blah blah blah. As a
- 7:00Speaker 1: lot of my favorite people have written, let's not do
- 7:03Speaker 1: what the left used to do when they'd say, oh,
- 7:06Speaker 1: the bad guy's wearing black because black people are bad. No, no,
- 7:10Speaker 1: Darth Vader's not wearing black because you're anti black. I mean,
- 7:13Speaker 1: could shut up. That was also stupid. I feel like
- 7:15Speaker 1: the right is now doing that with every single movie
- 7:18Speaker 1: that comes out or song or TV show or whatever,
- 7:20Speaker 1: and it's it's not good. It's not good. On the
- 7:23Speaker 1: other hand, then I'm watching Barbie. They get to a
- 7:25Speaker 1: part where I'm like, I gotta turn this off. I
- 7:27Speaker 1: can't watch this more. I cannot watch this s anymore.
- 7:31Speaker 1: This is ridiculous. Then I found out from a friend
- 7:33Speaker 1: of mine, you gotta keep going. It goes back and
- 7:36Speaker 1: forth several parts. They give it to the other side
- 7:38Speaker 1: just as much. Next then it goes back that way,
- 7:40Speaker 1: then it goes back. It switches directions so many times,
- 7:43Speaker 1: so I gotta give it more of a chance.
- 7:45Speaker 3: It's like, don't look up the Leo DiCaprio Jennifer Lawrence
- 7:48Speaker 3: vehicle with the well it's it's really a meteor destroying
- 7:52Speaker 3: all life on Earth vehicle.
- 7:53Speaker 4: But yeah, took shots at everybody.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Who's the lead guy in Barbie what's his name.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Ryan Goslings.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah, he is hilarious. I find him a very enjoyable
- 8:04Speaker 1: character and everything he's in.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Huh.
- 8:07Speaker 1: But I will watch the rest of the movie in
- 8:09Speaker 1: Barbie movie and then report on whether or not I
- 8:10Speaker 1: think it is Wolke or not. So here's one more
- 8:13Speaker 1: thing to jam into our first one More Thing of
- 8:15Speaker 1: the year. We didn't see any of the late night
- 8:18Speaker 1: shows or play any clips from him for the last
- 8:20Speaker 1: couple of weeks, obviously because we weren't here. So here
- 8:23Speaker 1: is a montage I guess of some of the best jokes.
- 8:27Speaker 7: Officials in New Mexico have begun testing wastewater at some
- 8:30Speaker 7: high schools for illicit drugs and found that most schools
- 8:32Speaker 7: tested positive for cocaine. And it has to be the students,
- 8:35Speaker 7: because there's no way a teacher could afford cocaine.
- 8:39Speaker 3: The producers of the Golden Bassler said that they want
- 8:41Speaker 3: to make a Golden bassaor in Paradise spinoff series.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Oh, I'd fun. I think you just just think an
- 8:50Speaker 1: hour each.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Week of contestants comparing suspicious moles.
- 8:55Speaker 7: According to the latest data released from porn Hub, the
- 8:58Speaker 7: search term granny increase in popularity by one hundred and
- 9:01Speaker 7: thirty two percent, because what better to hear after who's
- 9:05Speaker 7: your Daddy? Than I can't remember?
- 9:12Speaker 1: For some reason, one of those jokes reminded me of this,
- 9:14Speaker 1: and we can finish on this. I got two headlines
- 9:16Speaker 1: from the Babylon b First of all, this one Bill
- 9:24Speaker 1: Clinton Epstein's cause of death depends on what your definition
- 9:27Speaker 1: of suicide is.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Now, that's funny, a joke, that's funny. There we go.
- 9:33Speaker 1: And then did you see the picture of Joe Biden's
- 9:36Speaker 1: sunburn that he got, Well the hell, how are you
- 9:40Speaker 1: eighty two years old? Eighty one? It's the same age
- 9:44Speaker 1: as my mom. I shouldn't it. How are you that old?
- 9:47Speaker 1: And you let yourself get that sunburned? Good lord? Anyway,
- 9:51Speaker 1: this is from the Babylon b. White House explains that
- 9:54Speaker 1: Biden smeared suntan lotion on his sandwich and spread mayo
- 9:57Speaker 1: on his face. A simple mistake that happened to anyone,
- 10:00Speaker 1: even someone without dementia.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Oh man, but that's funny.
- 10:08Speaker 1: His face was just beat red, like you wouldn't want
- 10:11Speaker 1: to happen when you're twenty five, let alone when you're
- 10:15Speaker 1: in your eighties.
- 10:17Speaker 3: His wife, by the President's sunburn escaped me while I
- 10:21Speaker 3: was in Germany studying the Holocaust.
- 10:26Speaker 1: All right, sorry I didn't get to you.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Well, I guess that's it.
