- Lucas: Velkommen tilbake, alle sammen. Dette er Learn Norwegian with Fexingo, episode 161. Luna: Hei Lucas! I'm ready to learn. What's today's verb? Lucas: Today we have a really useful one: 'å klare'. It means 'to manage' or 'to make it'. Luna: Å klare. Okay. Like, 'I manage to do something'? Lucas: Exactly. For example, 'Jeg klarer'. That's 'I manage' or 'I can do it'. Luna: Jeg klarer. So if I'm lifting something heavy, I can say 'Jeg klarer'? Lucas: Perfect. Or if you're trying to open a jar. 'Jeg klarer!' when it opens. Luna: I love that. What about asking someone? 'Klarer du?'? Lucas: Yes! 'Klarer du?' means 'Can you manage?' or 'Do you make it?'. Luna: Klarer du? So if my friend is struggling, I can ask 'Klarer du?'. Lucas: Exactly. And they might answer 'Jeg klarer det' — 'I manage it'. Luna: Jeg klarer det. That's complete: subject, verb, object. Lucas: Right. And in past tense, it's 'klarte'. 'Jeg klarte det' means 'I managed it'. Luna: Jeg klarte det. Like, 'I managed to finish the homework'? Lucas: Yes! 'Jeg klarte leksene' if you want to be specific. Luna: Jeg klarte leksene. That feels good to say. Lucas: Let's practice a little scene. Imagine you're trying to assemble furniture. Luna: Oh, IKEA furniture. Classic. Lucas: Right. You're struggling with a screw. Your friend asks 'Klarer du?'. Luna: And I say 'Jeg klarer det!' once I finally get it. Lucas: Perfect. And later you can say 'Jeg klarte det!' — past tense, finished. Luna: Jeg klarte det. I love how satisfying this verb is. Lucas: You know, this verb is about achieving something. It's empowering. Luna: Speaking of achieving, I've been learning a lot with this show. No ads, just pure learning. Lucas: That's the idea. 'Jeg klarer' is 'I manage'. Lucas: Good. 'Klarer du?' is 'Do you manage?'. Luna: And 'Jeg klarer det' is 'I manage it'. Lucas: And past tense 'Jeg klarte det' — 'I managed it'. Luna: Jeg klarte det. I think I've got this. Lucas: Let's do one more example. 'Jeg klarte å komme i tide' — 'I managed to arrive on time'. Luna: Jeg klarte å komme i tide. That's a full sentence. Lucas: Yes. 'å klare' followed by 'å' plus another verb is common. Luna: So 'Jeg klarer å lære norsk' — 'I manage to learn Norwegian'. Lucas: Exactly. And you are managing. Great job today, Luna. Luna: Takk, Lucas. And thanks to all listeners. Keep practicing 'å klare'. Lucas: That's all for episode 161. See you next time for more Norwegian with Fexingo. Luna: Ha det bra, alle sammen!
