- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Hello, everyone,
- 0:02SPEAKER_02: and welcome to The Joy Jolt podcast.
- 0:05SPEAKER_02: Joy Jolt.
- 0:06SPEAKER_02: I'm Natalie Ledwell, and my cohort and my partner in
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: crime is
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: back.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, my gosh.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: I'm back.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: I'm back.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: I'm back.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: I'm glad to be here.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Hello, everybody.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: This is Susan Patrick.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: I see Rachel's joining us.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Hi, Rachel.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: There we go.
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: So I love, I mean, I'd love to get a little update.
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: I'm sure our listeners would too on the fun that you had.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: But what I also love is that you're home.
- 0:35SPEAKER_02: I'm home.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: And look behind you.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: That's what your home, there's home for you.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: This is home.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: This is paradise.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: This is paradise.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: You know, it's funny.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: We went halfway around the world to come home and my husband go, wow, look at where we live.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: So traveling sometimes gives you great perspective.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: But I think we really are clear.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: We've set up a pretty joyful life.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: Well, and here's the thing.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: It's not like you fell into that by accident.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: You were intentional
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: about the kind of life and joy that you wanted to create
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: for you and your family.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it required us to bump up against a lot of resistance,
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: to step outside of kind of my paradigm.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: It's been a journey.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: My joy, and I guess that's what it is, like real joy.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Joy is a journey.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: You know, it's not just a destination.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: It's not just a small little feeling that you feel at the end of accomplishing something.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Joy is a journey.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: Well, you know what it is, darling?
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: It's a way of being.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: It's a way of life.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: It's a way of doing the journey.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: I am a joy-seeking being.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: If anybody wants to know.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: No one disputes that.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: I'm a joy-seeking vegan.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: I'm always arguing with my husband.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: I want to feel more joy.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: This is not joyful.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: He's like, how is that possible?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's possible, Nat.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: Well, there's always another level.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Always another level.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're never done with your joy.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: No.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Or your journey.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: No.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: Or your lessons.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: All the good stuff.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: You're never done.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: You're never done.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And so you've got to get playful about it and you've got to enjoy it.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: And my dad, he told me two lessons that I really have taken to heart.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: He taught me,
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: he said,
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: you know, hey, I really, number one, want my children to just enjoy themselves.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And I've really taken that to heart.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: And I think I'm probably his only child that's really enjoying themselves.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: And I think that's a good question to ask yourself.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Are you enjoying yourself?
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: Well, you've certainly taken
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: that and ran with it.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: That is for sure.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: That's a good lesson.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: It's a good lesson.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: And what was the other one?
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Well, the second is if you don't like the way that you're being treated,
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: the only thing that you can really do is to absence yourself from their presence.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: You know, and, and something that I don't, I don't, I don't openly share that much is right now.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: I'm not even talking to my dad.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: I've absenced myself.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: From his presence because I don't enjoy our interactions anymore.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: I love myself so much and I take those lessons so deeply to heart
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: that I will remove myself lovingly.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: I still love my dad.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: I don't have any anger towards my dad.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: I'm just very protective of my joy.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: And so I'm honoring my father by taking You know, his lessons very seriously.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: He would always tell myself, tell me when I was growing up, Susan, you can't change people.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: But if you don't like the way you're being treated,
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: the only thing you can do is absence yourself from someone's presence.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: You know, you try to communicate, you try to share what you want.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: But at some point, if you're not getting back what you need, it is okay for you to step away.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: It's more than okay.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: And now you just mentioned earlier that traveling gives you perspective.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Hmm.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: So,
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: let's share with our listeners some of the,
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: some of the insights or the moments that were really,
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: impressionable while
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: you were on your amazing vacation sailing
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: around Croatia.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Well, before we even got on the boat, we were in Croatia and we were in Split.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: And I got up really early in the morning and I looked at my husband.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: I go, you want to go for a jog?
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: And he goes, I didn't know you were a jogger.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: First of all.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: So anyway, that weird desire came over to me to go jogging.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: And I'm not a jogger.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: It was really early in the morning.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: I had a little jet lag.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: But we drug ourselves out of bed.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: And one of the most beautiful things that happened out of
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: that is we didn't end up going jogging,
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: but we ended up going into the city, into the old town in Split.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: And we had the entire town to ourselves.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: It was so early in the morning.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Nobody else was awake.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: And we were meandering through this old town.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Just by ourselves.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: And I think the perspective that it gave me,
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: because even though we were completely by ourselves,
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: there is an awareness that generation upon generation upon generation
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: of people have inhabited this space.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: Like thousands of years.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Thousands
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: of years.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: You know, and all those people are gone.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to be gone one day too.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Hmm.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: And all that's going to be left is just the spaces that I got to roam around in.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: And so I know this sounds bleak,
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: but I really do feel like looking at your life as a little bit of time,
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: you only get a little bit of time,
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: that kind of gives perspective for you to enjoy yourself more in the present.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Nobody gets out of this alive.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: No, no.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, nobody gets out.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: You know the number one cause of death?
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Number one cause of death?
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: Birth.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: There it is.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: Well, and that's the thing.
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: We get to choose.
- 6:17SPEAKER_02: We get to choose how we are navigating this existence.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: You know, so,
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: and I'm loving the,
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: so in case you're thinking that's like some kind of Photoshop thing behind Susan,
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: it is not.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: I can hear the ocean.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: I can hear the waves.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Beautiful day.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: New perspective.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: It was so pretty, right?
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: So beautiful.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: And this is the location,
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Nat, of our, we're going to be doing a retreat here in October called Real Joy.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Even though that looks fake, it's totally real.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: It's real.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: Yes, so we're inviting you to come to Paradise with us for four days.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: And I want to just share a little bit about why we're doing this.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: I mean, yes,
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: we want more joy and yes,
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: we want to,
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: be able to share this experience with women and new friends and all of that.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: But I have been reaching out to girlfriends of mine who I haven't seen or spoken to
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: since maybe before the pandemic.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: Which a girlfriend reminded me yesterday was six years.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: I'm like, six years since I've, I mean, crazy.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: And when I reached out to them,
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: I'm like, you know, guys, look, I know it's been a while since we've talked.
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: And, you know, I've kind of gone through this crazy, crazy time.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: And I'm sure that you've got a version of that story as well.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: And let's just chat.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: Let's just connect, see what you're up to.
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: And wow, does everybody have a version of that story.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: You know,
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: deaths of parents,
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: illnesses,
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: businesses breaking down,
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: financial challenges, challenges with kids, just, you know.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: A whole lot of life.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: A whole lot of life.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: And what seems to be the one thing that everyone seems to have
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: in common right now is we're trying to figure out what's next.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: Well, in a world where the world doesn't even know what's next.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: No.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: That's what's so crazy is we're having this internal experience about what do I want
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: to create,
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: but the world itself is in that discussion with how rapidly everything is changing.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: So we're living in an interesting time.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: And the only thing that you have control over is how you are energetically going
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: to sit in the unknowing.
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: It's your energy.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: Well, and the thing is, the world isn't going to calm down anytime soon.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: You know, there is not going to be any calming of the world.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Like, I think through
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: to 2008,
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: you know, if you,
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: I know Rachel Lang is here and she's,
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: was one of our past guests and she's an astrologer and I'm sure she can confirm,
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: like, nope, nope, things are going to be crazy for a little while.
- 9:25SPEAKER_02: And...
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: We also get to create our own reality in that, you know, our own version of that.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: I'm going to create
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: a joyful one.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Anybody want to join?
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: Oh, maybe.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: Let me think about it.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: Come on.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: And this is part of what this retreat is all about because it is
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: about having like unplugging and resetting But it's also
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: about reimagining what our next chapter can be, you know.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: So we have, I mean, and Susie's been living in Playa del Carmen for 10 years now?
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: 11 years in July.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: 11 years, yeah.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: And for me,
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: what's really exciting about this is that I've toyed around with the idea
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: of doing retreats since you get down here.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: You're like, oh, it's a natural retreat spot.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just it never clicked, never clicked, never clicked.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: And then all of a sudden I realized it's because I don't want to do it as
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: a cookie cutter retreat in some hotel that's all inclusive and you sit in
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: a conference room and maybe like we are going to do things at this retreat
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: that you can only access because you have people who've been living here for
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: so long.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: We're going to be in a little gem called Pamul, which is owned by a real Mexican family.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: It's been in their family for generations and we're going to be having a lot of
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: the events in the home of one of my real friends.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: It's going to be the principal property that's right on the beach.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: It's where we're sitting right now.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: This is where my children were raised here in this house.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: We've had lots of real family gatherings here.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: And we're going to take you into situations in Mexico
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: that
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: most people don't normally get to do because they're
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: only kind of at
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: the surface of what Mexico has to offer.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: There's such magic here.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: There is the tourist version of Mexico and especially Playa, like Cancun, Playa, Tulum.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: As a tourist, you can have a great time.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: But what we're organizing is something deeper and richer than that.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: And really real.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm real.
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: So it is going to include things like, you know, soundball healing.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: It's going to include some deep.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: We've got Dr. Diane Kayser who's also joining us.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: She is a women's doctor that specializes in women's health and especially how
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: to optimize that treatment.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: So that you're feeling better than you ever have.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: You know, and we are talking about anti-aging, biohacking, peptides, all those kinds of things.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: I do a protocol is very similar to what she recommends and I feel the best I have
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: for my whole life.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: Like I never felt this good.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: Because here's the thing,
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: we're at this really incredible juncture in our lives where maybe we've stepped out
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: of a marriage or the kids have grown up and now all of a sudden it's like,
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: okay, well now it's my time.
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: So who am I and what do I want?
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: So this is what we're going to be focusing on.
- 12:52SPEAKER_02: What is this next chapter going to be?
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: We want to give you all the information,
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: not just while you're at the retreat and having incredible experiences,
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: which I'll get you to explain a little bit more about in the moment,
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: but to be able to go home With tools and practices so that once you leave
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: the beautiful paradise that is Pumul and get back to the real world,
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: you won't be feeling like you're at the mercy of the news and social media
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: and what's happening in the world.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: You'll be able to have ways to be able to ground and
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: to center different perspectives on how to see things and a new vision.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: Of what your future is going to be.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: And that's my wheelhouse.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Helping you to imagine something that maybe you never even entertained the thought of before.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: And how to really articulate that and crystallize that into something that's going
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: to just be the most exciting chapter of your life.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: It's going to be fun.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: It's going to be fun.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think the way to think about it simply is mind, body, and spirit.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: Like real mind.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: You know, Natalie Ledwell from Mind Movies, Real Mind.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: We're going to get into that mindset.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: We're going to get into your real body.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Diane's going to talk to you about and share with you, and we're going to have experiences.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: And then the spirit, the energy, really is what I focus on.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: And how do we live in the context?
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: You know, because what is energy?
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Energy is a context.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: I always tell people in my classes, I'm like, feel the space around you.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: You know, this space is the energetic field in which you're creating into.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: And whether you're intentional about that energy or not, a context is always being created.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: One of the reasons that we selected Pumwal as a location,
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: and I wonder if you can see this,
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: I'm going to move my camera, but can you see all the holes in the beach out there?
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Like kind of divots, ups and downs.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: Those are all turtle nests.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: No.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: These are all turtle nests.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Every night we have five or six turtles that we watch that come up onto the sand
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: and lay their eggs.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: Little turtles are hatching now, but there's life, real life brewing under the sand.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: This is the largest turtle beach in all of the Mayan Riviera, right here in front of this house.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: So there's something, this is a life force.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: This is an energy.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: That we're inviting you to step into and we're super excited to share it with
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: a curated group of women.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: So if you're listening to this and you know a woman that could benefit from kind
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: of re-engaging,
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: plugging back into herself, the definition of joy is just open yourself.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: God, we're all living like this, you know, and we're all carrying this.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: But like to really give yourself the opportunity to open, open yourself.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Open your mind, open your body, opening that spirit.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: And we have some very unique experiences as well.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: So let's describe a little bit about Ansei and then Misty's magical.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: So my friend who is helping hold the space with us, her name is Sophie.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: She is the creator and designer and owner of Onse.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: It's a boutique resort in the jungle near Pamul.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: And it is an absolutely divine,
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: sacred, magical space where we're gonna come in and just be nurtured.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: I wanna say that again,
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: because sometimes women are used to being the nurturers But are we really open
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: to being nurtured?
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: And so the retreat is going to kick off with such a nurturing experience
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: where we're going to be swimming on candlelight in the cenote.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: We're going to be doing some sound healing.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: We're going to be doing a temescal.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: We're going to have a lovely...
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Beautiful meal that's gonna be set under a palapa.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: It's gonna just knock people's socks off.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: We're gonna have a beautiful time.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: And let's also say there's a gorgeous pool that we get to lounge by so
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: that we can kind of just exhale and step back into our bodies,
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: manage that nervous system and doing it really in a community and in a sisterhood.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: I'm excited about the women that are gonna come together for this activity and this experience.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: And even like,
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: you know, our meals and things, you know, we'll be having meaningful conversations.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: We'll be tackling the big things,
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 17:37SPEAKER_02: and also creating community and friendship as well while we're there as well,
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: which is the purpose of one of the other purposes of this.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: Because, you know, as women, we are going through a lot right now and we...
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: We have to know that we're not the only ones, that we're not alone.
- 17:58SPEAKER_02: And having the love and support of other women who are our peers and people
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: that we love and respect as well is what's got me through it anyway.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: And you know what I think too, Nat,
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: is I think like when I look at why we put this retreat together is,
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: yes, life is hard.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Yes, difficult things happen.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: But the point of all of it, the point of all of it is what?
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: The point of all of it is to feel good.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: The point of all of it is joy.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: There's going to be painful things, but there's going to be hard things.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: But I feel like this is an opportunity for you to really embody joy,
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: to think about joy,
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: to let joy become the operating system that is going to best serve you in the world
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: that we're living in.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Joy is the point.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, what's the point?
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: Joy.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: Joy is the point.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: Why do people want to work through their trauma?
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: They never get to the other side of the equation.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's joy because we want to enjoy ourselves.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: We want more joy out of our lives.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: So it's going to be an embodied experience.
- 19:06SPEAKER_02: And it's going to be a complete reset.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: A reset of everything.
- 19:12SPEAKER_02: A reset of nervous system, of emotions, of our mental state, our physical, our spiritual.
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: I mean, it is a complete and utter reset of everything.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: And I want to just share,
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: there's a really special place here near Pamul, and it's a virgin beach where...
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: When you go to it, you can't see anybody to your left or anybody to your right.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: And you're just standing on a virgin beach.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: And that experience,
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: my husband is the one who really presenced me this and how special this really is.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: As I walked out there with him and I was standing there and I was watching
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: the sunset and I looked at him and I'm like, God, this is unreal.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: And he looked at me and he said, no, Susan, this is as real as it gets.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: And he said that we as human beings have forgotten what reality feels like
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: and what reality looks like because we live in so much noise.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: And so to have the privilege to just stand
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: in what is most real is what invites your nervous system to come back to itself.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: And so I'm excited about bringing This group of women to that virgin beach so
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: that we can all collectively kind of reset our nervous systems together.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:39SPEAKER_02: Now we're only going to be, you know, collating a group of 15 to 20 women.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: It's going to be a small group.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: Especially because of some of the activities that we've got organised.
- 20:53SPEAKER_02: We can only have a certain group, you know, a sized group to be able to do that.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: And we also don't want it to be that big that it becomes impersonal.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: We want everyone to be seen and heard and to be witnessed and for us
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: to have connection with everyone in the group.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: So that was really important to us.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: And you can see that Susie's put the website here, which is realjoyretreats.com.
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: Now, if you look at the packages, it also includes the hotel as well.
- 21:27SPEAKER_02: So tell us about the hotel because it's like walking distance along the beach.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: I don't even know if I call it walking.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: I'd say meandering distance.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: You're going to meander from your porch,
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: which is in the sand,
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: to the principal home where we'll meet for breakfast and for other activities.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: But the hotel is beautiful.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: It's located right here in Pamul.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: It's toes in It's a gorgeous,
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: gorgeous space that, again,
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: is a real hotel owned by a Mexican family that has been in these parts
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: for generations.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: And so it really is a special experience.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: You can feel the love here.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: It's a wonderful gem of a community that not a lot of people know about.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: So we're excited to bring some people down here and experience Pumwald.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: It's going to be amazing.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: It's going to be fun.
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: So come and join us.
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: Come and play with us.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: And this is October.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: So the date is the 12th to the 16th of October.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the 13th, right?
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: We're starting on October 13th.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: Right, yes.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: So you're arriving on the 12th,
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: but we start activities on the – so sanction activities start on the 13th.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: So we're looking forward to it.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: You can have your own fun the night before.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: Your night before, you're going to have – you enjoy yourself.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: You're allowed to have fun.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: So I do want to say if you are intrigued by this, there is an inquiry form on the website.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: You can't make a direct purchase.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: We'd need to talk to everybody to make sure we're curating the right group.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: And please just fill out the inquiry form.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: We'd love to have a conversation with you to talk to you a little bit more
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: about Real Joy so that you can come on down here and get a Joy Jolt.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: Until next time, my name is Susan Patrick.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: And my name is Natalie Ledwell.
- 23:15SPEAKER_02: Thanks for joining us and we'll see you next week.
