- 1:49of The Lack of Us titled when We Are in Need and we are in
- 1:56Need and we are lacking in love and sympathy and everything else. And like
- 2:01I've said before about this show, I seriously doubt I would even be watching
- 2:07this if not for the fact that we are reviewing this show. Because yeah,
- 2:10that last which one was It was it Henry right before Henry that made
- 2:14me tap out? It wasn't Henry, Okay, I might have been like,
- 2:16man, it might have been Episode three made me really want to tap
- 2:19out, like I've been done, but it can't be Episode three. That
- 2:22was before the Bill and Frank episode. It was yeah, I think so,
- 2:27I think that was well. Then it was after Yeah, no,
- 2:29no, I was done. After Bill and Frank. I was like,
- 2:30okay, that's get you know. I thought already, Okay, I'm a
- 2:38vision of it. Yeah, because it was like that was so that was
- 2:39so well done, and everything else up until that point had just been very
- 2:44well done zombie drama. As I've said before, and as an officionado of
- 2:47zombie drama, I'm also kind of burnt out on it, and I haven't
- 2:53seen anything new from the last of Us besides that episode, I would say
- 3:00pretty much, and even that wasn't very new. It was just, you
- 3:01know, well done, very extremely well done. Because you've seen, you
- 3:06know, stories of love and an apocalypse before if you've read a lot of
- 3:09zombie or watched a lot of zombie dramas, so that's already been done.
- 3:15Now this episode eight, I've felt like it's one of the things and I
- 3:20know this is straight up from the game. In fact, one of our
- 3:22YouTube comment to this last week said they couldn't wait to see this episode because
- 3:28they knew that Ellie was going to go Ham. It wasn't yeah, it
- 3:36no at all, and there is no Ham the way we want to see
- 3:38it in this world. And after seeing it, that was my thing.
- 3:40I wanted to tell the person. I'm like, yeah, sure, she
- 3:45went Ham, but the fact that she had to go Ham in this you
- 3:49know what caused her to go Ham is the real disturbing part of everything.
- 3:52The fact that she has to go through these things in this world she lives
- 3:55and is the horrible part about it. And like I said, I don't
- 4:00really feel the need to watch this type of entertainment that much. The nail
- 4:04on the head been. I mean, like the circumstances and the context of
- 4:09which she she wasn't going ham. She was fighting for her survival to me,
- 4:15and I'm and that's fine, but to me, when when when my
- 4:18version and when I when I say a character went in when hand, whatever
- 4:23euphemism we want to use, it's because they're being badasses, like because they
- 4:27can not because their life depends on it necessarily, and clearly most of the
- 4:31time when they you know, when they're doing their limit break is because yeah,
- 4:34maybe their life dependent on it. But this was a different type of
- 4:39life dependent. It wasn't they was in battle. This was the John Snow
- 4:43one against a thousand. This was some fucked up shit. Yeah, And
- 4:47like John Snow, as much as he's like I don't want it, you
- 4:50know, he still chooses it. Ellie did not choose to be in this
- 4:56horrible situation that she finds herself in in this episode. And like you said,
- 5:00this is a battle for her life and for everything else, and so
- 5:03no, I would not consider this doing ham And this was not something that
- 5:08if I had played the game, I would be looking forward to see.
- 5:11And this is one of the reasons why. Like when we first started reviewing
- 5:14the show, I was playing on playing the game and streaming it because I've
- 5:18never played the game, and I was streaming. I've gotten on my PS
- 5:20five ready to go, And after the first two episodes, I was like,
- 5:24ain't no way I'm playing this game anything like this. Shit like this
- 5:28is more than enough. I don't need to live through this twice, Like
- 5:30you know, it's this was one of the there's heavy stuff that's been happening
- 5:38all throughout the series, but this was particularly heavy. This was something I
- 5:42was not prepared for. And I'm curious with this specific stuff in the game
- 5:47and not just okay and that happens. I mean, this is not the
- 5:51first time this type of story has been done. Like this episode was giving
- 5:56me Silent Hill vibes. It was giving me. It was giving me that
- 5:59that the whole zombie undead slash the worst, the depravity of humanity type of
- 6:05stuff, and this led me all I kept thinking as I was watching was
- 6:10this is the ship Ben, I mean was talking about it he does not
- 6:12want to see and I felt you and this like but if I didn't,
- 6:15if I wasn't feeling you before, I feel you now Ben, im like.
- 6:18I was like, holy shit, I don't want to see this,
- 6:20like I don't want to just like how and not just like but similarly to
- 6:25how I felt about not wanting to see all that shit that happened with Henry
- 6:29and Sam, I was like, holy shit, I really don't want to
- 6:30see this. What's your favorite line? I'd really like this. I really
- 6:34like this to end now. I would like this to be overtop. I
- 6:42really would like this to stop. And and I felt I just felt such
- 6:47a heavy air of the entire time was weighing me down. It was so
- 6:51depraved. And also it wasn't new right, We've seen that, we've seen
- 6:57it, We've seen I mean, I also want to do things the way
- 7:00we normally do, which is talk about the things we like. But you
- 7:02know, from an overall perspective, it was a lot. Yeah, what
- 7:06did you like about this episode? Bad? I mean, well, wait,
- 7:11I had another point that I wanted to make before we get I was
- 7:15trying to keep it here, but what I actually like. But okay,
- 7:18I can't remember that point off hop off top right now, so let it
- 7:23let's get into oh shit. In my notes I had this episode was dark
- 7:28as hell as things. I like, it was just like you would trying
- 7:33to come up with something positive to say, Well, it was really dark.
- 7:39I mean the damn horse like it was like at I was like,
- 7:46ain't no way, they ain't gonna shoot the horse. And then they shot
- 7:48the horse. I'm like, Jesus, this is like starting off terrible and
- 7:53it's only gonna get worse. Um. I liked this episode, you know,
- 7:58for what I said, I thought for the most part, I'll say
- 8:01it was well done. Like you said, he gave off that whole feeling
- 8:05of dread. You know, I really thought, what's his name James Bartles
- 8:11and James David, Yeah, no, David as Scott Shephard as David.
- 8:20I thought he was incredible, you know, being like, well's no,
- 8:24David's the preacher. Yeah. I don't even know if he was incredible.
- 8:28That's different too much. He was creepy as fun Chester the molester. He
- 8:31was definitely creepy as fuck. He was a Chester like he played a Chester
- 8:37real goddamn good Okay, who gives them? Damn Like, yeah, I
- 8:41just oh, I didn't want to see. My skin is crawling, Ben.
- 8:45I mean, thinking about this once again, I'm kind of confused by
- 8:48how people follow these people in this world. Like he didn't off the vibe
- 8:54of someone where like even when David questions him, I mean James questions David,
- 9:00and you know, David bucks up on them, and it's like,
- 9:03you know, and everybody just goes, yeah, what you're saying. No,
- 9:09he didn't say that, But but I mean, you know why it
- 9:11happens when you are in at your wits end, when you're in such an
- 9:15extreme situation. You just as we see even in non technically extreme situations,
- 9:22people get caught up a ship. It was a fucking cult. Yeah,
- 9:24my man got God on the side so that it was a cult at the
- 9:28end of the day. It's a cold You've seen it happen. You've seen
- 9:30it with the the woman Mandalorian, the people the Manlorian. Yeah, but
- 9:33I'm talking about in real life, like you've seen it with the people who
- 9:35was following the comment who who all killed themselves, you know, like like
- 9:39ten years ago. You know what I mean? You know what I'm saying,
- 9:41because the Colt it's like, oh the comments coming to take us away,
- 9:43and people believe in that ship, and then people going into Colton,
- 9:46the man having fifty wives and you know stuff that you just like, why
- 9:50would you follow this person? It's like because for whatever thing these people are
- 9:54lacking or searching for, this person is providing it a false sense of it.
- 9:58But this person, this leader, it's false God, if you will,
- 10:01it's providing what they've been looking for, what they've been seeking, whether
- 10:05it's they feel like they belong, whether they feel they have protection, whether
- 10:09they feel they have guidance, fatherhood. As very strangely, this David guy
- 10:13tried to make happen like there, I understood. I wouldn't agree personally,
- 10:20I understood, yeah, And I know, desperate things will call people to
- 10:22do desperate You know that his whole flock was a bunch of scary niggas.
- 10:30Remember they said all they did was go from place to place after being run
- 10:33out by raiders. Is that they just went from place to place at once.
- 10:35At some point stand up, fight, grab grab a fucking stick.
- 10:41That's like, you know what I mean? And again I get it.
- 10:45It's not everyone's built that way. I get it. Not everyone is wants
- 10:48to run off Fedrah. Now everyone wants to do all this stuff, and
- 10:50that's cool, but stand up, fight back, fight back, nigga,
- 10:56fight back. But anyway, No, that that's not how we were.
- 10:58But back to the good thing about like you said, like structurally again,
- 11:01and I want to be clear when I when I ain't. I think when
- 11:03you say this, when I say, oh, this was heavy and I'm
- 11:07depressing it, that doesn't mean it was bad, like from a structule to
- 11:11that point, from from writing and in tone all that. Yet it was
- 11:15good. It's just that I did not feel good inside watching no, okay,
- 11:18And that was the point that I wanted to make earlier, right Um.
- 11:22I talked about this before I stopped watching BMF. Even though I'm a
- 11:26big fan of all the Power see I mean, yeah, the whole Power
- 11:28Universe is fifty calls it bid fans seen everything. But BMF this season just
- 11:33dropped a little too much for I was like, this black on black violence
- 11:35and just the disturbing depravity of the black on black violence. It was a
- 11:39little too much for me. And I was like, I've seen this before,
- 11:41and I've seen it done better. In fact, but Montie Jones on
- 11:43his Game Theory show Great Watching on HBO YEP, shout out to rod Um.
- 11:50He was talking about someone asked them, you know, The Wire or
- 11:54Snowfall, and he just looked like, you know, what are you talking
- 11:58about? You know, there's the Wire and there's all these other shows.
- 12:01And someone recently said Snowfall is the best show on TV a friend of mine,
- 12:05and I was like, and not that, you know, Snowfalls had
- 12:09his moments, but like Boumani said, he feels like they are a bunch
- 12:11of great actors on Snowfall who have to deal with some of the material that
- 12:16they are sometimes given. They're not always giving material up to their standards.
- 12:20And back to the point of why I don't watch it anymore because I gave
- 12:24up on that, and like I watched the first season, about halfway through
- 12:26the second season, I gave up on that is because once again I was
- 12:30tired of the black on black violence. And I've seen it before on something
- 12:33like The Wire where it is done to an exceptional level, and after that
- 12:37it's very tough just to watch us some average a good version of it.
- 12:41And that's the same thing that I'm feeling about this show is like this stuff
- 12:46is like ridiculously dark, and I've seen it done before. Well, this
- 12:50might be one of the better versions of it. I've still seen it done
- 12:54before. Like, you know, the Walking Dead first season was exceptional,
- 12:58The Walking Dead Comma Boat for most of it run was exceptional. So this
- 13:01is you know, all the Dawn of the deads down the line, George
- 13:05Romero, you know, everything exceptional. So this is just, man,
- 13:09can we talk about things? Be there? Like, hold on, let
- 13:15me I had things I liked. Okay, yeah, Number one Joe's alive,
- 13:20so there's that. Yep, that was great. It's a life Joel.
- 13:24The number two Joe calling Ellie baby girl. I felt like that final
- 13:31wall came finally tumbling down of him, like not trying to, you know,
- 13:37block out his previous life, block out that love and block out the
- 13:41or stop, the not just understanding but the really not even just realization,
- 13:46the coming to terms with the fact that he loves this girl was a little
- 13:50girl like he he has the fatherly energy for her, all this other stuff
- 13:54and like that when she ran out and she thought it was just someone like
- 14:00she got her wits end. She thought it was just someone else. She
- 14:03got to defend herself. She has no more gas left in the tank,
- 14:05ye, and for him to embrace her like it's me. I got you,
- 14:09Like you know how strong that is, just in general in real life,
- 14:11especially in that situation. I got you, baby girl, It's me.
- 14:15It's me. It's the one person that you could trust. It's the
- 14:16one person you really only trust anyway. It's the one person you dragged across
- 14:20how many you know, yards of farmland to get me the safety to try
- 14:26to keep me alive because you only trust me. It's the person that you
- 14:30were so pissed at where I was being a bitch ass nigga and was afraid
- 14:33to take you, you know, to go see the fireflies and try to
- 14:35get my brother to do it. But you still stuck with me. You
- 14:37know what I'm saying, Like like that's all that stuff came to a head,
- 14:41and it's just like I'm here for you. I got you. I
- 14:43thought that was beautiful, okay, and then you made me think of some
- 14:46more things that I did actually enjoy about this episode. I really enjoyed Ellie
- 14:52negotiating and getting the medicine, and you know how she was kept her wits
- 14:56about her and everything and got her medicine for Ellie she did for Joel.
- 15:01And then I really enjoyed. Even though I've been talking about how I don't
- 15:05like violins and all that, you know too much, I do like seeing
- 15:09people go ham when they have a choicing. Going ham, and see Joel
- 15:13go ham on these clowns was quite great. Especially I really liked the point
- 15:18of Joel killing Um. I keep getting the midst of James because Jesus Junior,
- 15:26Jesus Junior James, because James plays Joel in the game. Say that
- 15:30five times fast. Oh he's a voice actor. Yes, Troy Baker,
- 15:33who plays James, plays Joel in the games The Last of Us. So
- 15:39this is like the second or third time that someone because gray Beard, my
- 15:43man gray Beard, was also another person in the games. You know what,
- 15:48It's interesting. I felt that Joel took out Jesus Junior the way Oprah
- 15:56and Martell got taken out. It was a very just the way he just
- 16:00came down on it again. It just it just it was very opening like
- 16:03and it was very brutal, but it was necessary. Yeah, it was
- 16:07very much. This is a rap. Yeah, and I agree with you.
- 16:11I do, like, like you said, going hand with the purpose
- 16:12the brutality of it, because especially one, because I knew what time it
- 16:17was. As soon as they showed up on the scene, I'm like,
- 16:18Okay, this is a cult. This is a problem. That that that
- 16:21Chester is a problem, and all these people is an issue. And once
- 16:25like it wasn't even no question. Joel was like nope, y'all gotta go.
- 16:29And that's how I've been moving to the beginning this series, you know.
- 16:30And again I know I have I trust issues apparently, but I'm like,
- 16:33nah, I kill everybody, know what I'm saying, Like ask much
- 16:36later. So as to me, this was the one where it's like,
- 16:38yeah, no, we can't be giving you chances. It's all right,
- 16:41thank you for the information. You're dead now. Yes, especially Joel when
- 16:45dude, it's like, why did you do that? And he told her
- 16:48the truth and he's like, yeah, I believe him, you know,
- 16:49and he all about to kill me, you know, like no, fam,
- 16:53but I let y'all go, and y'all go running back to get some
- 16:56more help to come back and kill me, Nah, bro, this that
- 17:00you know, this is not that game. It's not that game. It's
- 17:03not the type of party. And let's be let's be fucking for real.
- 17:07What do I set double tat take them out? Get your ops? Man?
- 17:15No ops left behind? Word to twenty one, savage no ops left
- 17:19behind? Okay, And that's what I'm saying, And that's why I fun
- 17:25with that movement from Joe, like that's how you do it, planning to
- 17:27see but it ain't no sessing me. Can't let you bitch Nicka stand next
- 17:30to me, you know, twenty one, And I mean I cannot stand
- 17:34seeing people get tortured though, So that scene was also really tough on me.
- 17:40Oh yeah, another another Game of Thrones, remembering yeah, God.
- 17:44But at the same time, when the torturing was done and he was just
- 17:48putting the hands to me, I mean, the bar to man, so
- 17:51I was like, yes, because it was quick. It was like yeah,
- 17:53blank blank white, you know what it's over, So my cool.
- 17:56Yeah that's what y'all get. Yeah, that's what I liked. And again
- 18:02when I said, like, am I seeing an episodes bad? I'm just
- 18:03saying like stuff that made me feel any inkling of good inside that shit.
- 18:10Um yeah, I think one last thing, just I want to reiterate,
- 18:14I thought the ending made me feel great. Like you said, you know,
- 18:17that was an incredible ending for her to go through all of that,
- 18:19to burst out, have nothing left in the tank. And then there's Joel.
- 18:23That was beautiful, you know, and then then walking off uncertain wish
- 18:27to happen. I also loved Ellie just telling Joel, you know you here,
- 18:32here's the knife, yo. You know, I know you named damn
- 18:34near dead. But when they come through, you know what I mean,
- 18:38you gotta be old Joel up on that ass, and you know, once
- 18:42again my man woke up and put in that work. Joel woke up,
- 18:47he stood up, and then he had to do, dude, what he
- 18:51had to do nimbly. They killed the goddamn horse. Let's talk about someboding
- 18:59like man, you kill the horse. The horse, and then my nigga,
- 19:04my nigga said, dragged that shit back because it was gonna chop that
- 19:07bitch up and eat it. Oh yeah, yeah, didn't like that.
- 19:11Didn't like the cannibalism, y'all. Nigga's head ya I had, I had
- 19:15man's hanging upside down with no heads, so telling me you ate the heads
- 19:19first? No, no, no the head no no chi Yeah you got
- 19:27a story, you know. Okay, it's giving me the fever, like
- 19:30I'm like sweating because it was just too much. It was too much all
- 19:33see that that part to me, like I don't like, I don't,
- 19:37I don't not. Man's what were you supposed to do? Not eat people?
- 19:41Yes, there's other ways, Like I'm not saying it was not hard,
- 19:47but it wasn't clear clear, wasn't impossible. I mean mad people,
- 19:51you know, like plane crashes, like there's that you know story of the
- 19:53plane crash where they had to eat each other. You know, it's like,
- 19:56shit happens. Be like I think, I think the betrayal of these
- 20:02people in this you know, this cult makes it seemed like because it seemed
- 20:04like they were probably murdering people to eather. That's what I'm saying, And
- 20:07that's what I'm saying. But Ben, and that's what I'm saying, Like,
- 20:08Okay, great, great example of giving like you know, people crashing
- 20:11the desert, deserted out of there and shit else there nothing's edible. Okay,
- 20:15different situation. Yeah, even as fucked up as it is in the
- 20:18in the land of the us of A. Niggas is finding it, Niggas
- 20:22is figuring out ways, Niggas is hunting, Niggas is fishing, Niggas is
- 20:26looting and going through stuff like everyone else wasn't not everyone. But as far
- 20:30as I saw up until this point, I didn't hear of any of these
- 20:33other niggas eating people. And they was moving in numbers. I'm saying,
- 20:37these people seem like bitch as niggas that y'all can't do nothing but running eat
- 20:41each other. Like I'm confused. Yeah, I think that's more. I
- 20:44think you hit the nail on the head there is that these were some bitch
- 20:47answers, because that's the thing. Elie steps out and immediately finds a deer.
- 20:52Now, early on, my man was like, yo, you're seeing
- 20:53things when he said he saw a deer, but Elie saw. Elie saw
- 20:56a deer and a rabbit right away. When two episodes ago, when they
- 21:00met up with the Native couple, the Native couples, and granted that was
- 21:03a different area, but the Native couple Man's came back with six raps,
- 21:07And I'm just saying, like I just don't see it like y'all had again.
- 21:11Y'all had guns, y'all had ammo, y'all had everything else, and
- 21:14but there was nothing to find that because theydn't learned to grow. I mean,
- 21:18granted it was winner once again, but y'all been on the move for
- 21:21a minute. Y'all didn't grow nothing like I just I just find it.
- 21:25Let's let's take a quick second and look who was in that hall as niggas?
- 21:32No, No, is there a certain lack of something that I think
- 21:38the lack of us is coming to play again here, because you know I
- 21:42only saw it once. There was a lot of whites in that hall.
- 21:47I don't know what I mean, I don't know if there was any color
- 21:49in there at the Nordic blood. Why the Viking didn't come out and then
- 21:52to come do you don't do gonna go fishing or some shit? What the
- 21:55fuck are you talking about? What you mean people know how to kill the
- 21:59fish? Shouldn't do shit? Why why you gotta have somebody at colors?
- 22:02Are you trying to say you need somebody of color to get you? I
- 22:03mean this once again, you do know the story of the Pilgrims, right,
- 22:07like baby Chances was dying. They were eating each other, they were
- 22:12they was dying. So on the programs basically damn yeah, I mean,
- 22:17this is the story of some pilgrims. These are some religious people, you
- 22:19know, who come into the land, don't not to take care of themselves,
- 22:22caught out there in the winter, but they're not. Once again,
- 22:26we on us. But no, that's but that I could see that analogy
- 22:33if they like, Okay, well maybe technically it's true, like they are
- 22:37from all over from where they they say they came from, watching Pittsburg or
- 22:42somewhere burg. Right, did they say they come from Pittsburgh, So this
- 22:45is a new area they don't know, So technically it's like you're you're graded
- 22:49over there. When I was watching it, the dudes when they're Jesus Junior,
- 22:55and then when they were walking around with their beards, I was thinking
- 22:56of that show. What's that. I don't I've never watched shit, but
- 23:00it's like a reality show with all these white dudes with the beards and their
- 23:03survivor. No, no, it's it's something where these dudes are supposed to
- 23:08be like hillbillies but then they got rich or something. But you know what
- 23:12I'm talking about, but the name isn't coming to you either, right,
- 23:15like fishing with their hands and shiit No. But to think the real funny
- 23:19thing behind it is all these dudes are super rich and they all grew to
- 23:22beards and did all that ship for the show, Like none of them looked
- 23:26like that before the show, No idea, but that was that's clearly a
- 23:32reality show what they do. Yeah, And so that's all I was thinking
- 23:34about when I saw these dudes walking, was that these dudes as fraugs,
- 23:37like they rot the beards and ship. Now you know, they've been out
- 23:41of the with us, so now they're growing the beards out. But these
- 23:42dudes just some fucking accountants and the ship from Pittsburgh, like they ain't ready
- 23:47for this type of life. And it shows Kathleen's bitch ass was probably a
- 23:52librarian and she got that shit together. So I don't I'm saying I don't.
- 23:56I don't know. It's just no excuse to me. They're asking them
- 24:00back up, there are reasons right for eating people? And is that the
- 24:03other I just feel like with so many other groups doing so many different ways
- 24:07to find food and again, as far as my knowledge of this show,
- 24:14I haven't seen no one else do this shit, which means to me,
- 24:17there's other ways. There's like it's not complete barren wasteland, So for them
- 24:21to resort to that, I'm just like, did y'all really try all avenues?
- 24:25Or is this just you just figured this was the way. The name
- 24:27of the show was Duck Dynasty. Yeah, and these are probably the Dick
- 24:33Dynasty over here, because yeah, and I mean somebody helped me out.
- 24:38Somebody who's listening put into comments like am I missing something like I just no,
- 24:44No, I think we hit I think we just figured it all all
- 24:47right there. Once again, these are some bitch asses. They wasn't ready
- 24:49for this type of life, so they get there and then they start murdering
- 24:52each other and eating each other for that either. But I'm not I just
- 24:59I'm man it. I don't know, I don't know, but I just
- 25:03well, once again, the lack of us, you know, like look
- 25:06look, you know, look, look the pilgrims putter manned up. They
- 25:10could have done what they did, but they started eating each other until the
- 25:12natives came through, you know, Indigenous people came through and helped them some
- 25:18corn they were stupid asses, like come on, fan, like they were
- 25:22sitting up in that um Ford eating each other. Googlely they were eating each
- 25:26other too. This is not you know, the vegetation like got this thinking.
- 25:32No they ain't thinking. Yeah, not thinking. But um okay,
- 25:34stuff. We didn't like continue all right, Um I did not like.
- 25:40I mean, obviously we did not like the whole you know dude, Chester,
- 25:45Yeah, Chester, mo Leicester, you know, going at Ellie.
- 25:48I didn't like that, and I really was hoping it wasn't gonna go there,
- 25:51and then it did. I'm like, yeah, and then that's when
- 25:53it I get it once again. I'm probably gonna hear it in the comments.
- 25:56This is from the game and Live. But he's just like, y'all
- 26:00keep telling me that this game has the greatest riding of all time and what
- 26:03turned this man into a complete buffoon, you know, in the last moments
- 26:07of his life. Because that's where I'm just like this, dude, Okay,
- 26:11as soon as the fire starts, fuck this girl, I'm closing the
- 26:15door on the bitch and I'm burning that hole up in there. I win.
- 26:19He looked at the fire and said, I got mosque, like what
- 26:25like like who writes this, I'm sorry, no, like I don't like
- 26:30and okay, his fingers broke, he's you know, he's angry. What
- 26:33your man's just got murdered by Shorty? She is obviously about that life fam
- 26:38like, I don't you know what is driving him at that point to be
- 26:42like let me you know, Moleste, as the fire is falling on top
- 26:48of me. This reminds me of another dickhead. Kathleen, you are surrounded
- 26:53by twenty eight seconds later and you must get your revenge? Are you dead
- 27:00ass right now? You damn it? Twice in one show we have like
- 27:03complete idiot boss figures like what is this? Like I'm sorry, y'all,
- 27:08I'm sorry, but that it was like, okay, not only is this
- 27:11dark, then it just drop dumb and cartoonist to me. You know,
- 27:15it was like Jesus, come on fan for real. Like I said,
- 27:18as soon as I see the fire, hah, Shorty wap locked the door.
- 27:22Stand out there, told some marshmallows, watch your bitch ass that burned
- 27:26out. Call the crew, you know, call the family in let's watch
- 27:30this who you know? Nope, no, like, what what was your
- 27:36plan? I mean? Not only that your hanging food is in there.
- 27:40Dog, you're not thinking, like Ben, call him DCU because there was
- 27:44no plan just wow wow waiting for a flash point right to come save everything?
- 27:52Du coming? But uh bro, Like, let's just that. That's
- 27:57what I'm saying. People cute, don't leave. This game is like the
- 28:00greatest writing ever And I'm like, man, there's still Spider Man got award.
- 28:06Also, one of this game is ten plush years old now, right,
- 28:07and my thing is your body. I probably think it's still Again,
- 28:14it's different when you're playing. It could have been fifty years ago and it
- 28:17still had been a cartoon. You know, well, Ben, also you
- 28:22as you we talked about it before. The different mediums hit differently. It
- 28:26probably especially when you're fully immersed in the game, making the decisions, doing
- 28:30the physicality of whatever button press you gotta do or joystick moves. Like,
- 28:34it's different. It feels different. So I'm not gonna say that like that
- 28:37that shit makes me gonna throw up. Imagine that this is in the game,
- 28:41like you have to fight off a rapist, like I swear. People
- 28:48are like it's like once again, I just like, I just it's like,
- 28:53why would you And you was he was already giving me those fives from
- 28:56jump. But then for you, as you said that in that situation specifically,
- 29:00like okay, I've never understood that, you know, that is something
- 29:03like that I'm not built for. You know, that is just not in
- 29:07my hardware or hardwire or anything. Right, But sometimes just never understood because
- 29:11I can't even like if it's cold outside, I ain't you know, I
- 29:17ain't trying to get no, you know, and somebody's like, yo,
- 29:18let's go smash. I'm like, man, it's cold out here, you
- 29:21know, like this man trying to smash in fire, like I don't care.
- 29:23I short, He's like, yo, let's right here in this fire.
- 29:26I'm out dog, you know, Like no, no, ma,
- 29:30we're going outside and smashing in the snow. You know what I mean.
- 29:33Like I'm saying, I'm saying, if you know, if it was like
- 29:36a willing participant in this situation, even then why is Yeah, so it
- 29:42wasn't a willing participant. This woman was a child. It was a child
- 29:47child. It was a child that you wanted to see dead or okay,
- 29:55you want it for yourself what you thought, y'all? You at leastie now
- 30:00nigga, you're gonna surviti fire, like like if that's thing. It wasn't
- 30:07like he was talking that God shit, you know like that, like if
- 30:11you know, if he'd like, you know, been like shoot me David,
- 30:14you know, or something like James or whatever, you know, shoot
- 30:17me James. You know, I've got God on my side. I didn't
- 30:18know. If he'd done that earlier, I'd be like, well, yeah,
- 30:21he's the type of idiot who thinks the fire won't burden and I got
- 30:23God an man, you w as I'm thinking about it, and I said
- 30:30it as a joke from this meme, this old video meme, but he
- 30:34reminded me of like one of the worst anime characters, like anime villains,
- 30:37where like they do shit like that, like yeah they do do wash.
- 30:41I don't. It's like die and they're like this is fine, this is
- 30:48fine, like confusing. I just was wondering. I would say, am
- 30:55I the only one? Just like I said, this episode, you know,
- 30:57well done, well constructed, where I'm like, oh this is tense,
- 31:00oh shit, you know, even though like I say, the problem
- 31:03with this show is because I know Ellie is definitely not you know, but
- 31:07no, once again, I don't know what could happen to Ellie. I
- 31:10know she's done to survive, so I don't know what terrible should ha gonna
- 31:12happened to her before? You know, so you know, this is driving
- 31:15up. I'm like, oh fuck, you know what's happening here? And
- 31:18then like even you know, Ellie finally killing the dude was like, oh
- 31:22my god, this is draffic. And then you know, her going outside
- 31:26was like, oh this is great, but there's that two three minutes from
- 31:29I'm just like, what the fuck am I watching right now? Why is
- 31:32this happening right right? I would like this to stop. As soon as
- 31:38the fire started, I was like, okay, he's the right outside.
- 31:41Shut the throw one shorty, you know. And then Joe gonna come up
- 31:45kill him, busting save Ellie. Yeah. One interesting thing that this episode
- 31:48brought up that other stuff aside, like when she was trying to basically get
- 31:55her way out of there by like you know, fucking with his head,
- 31:56she like she did him, and she was like, well, now you're
- 31:59infect right now, let's take that a step further. In reality though,
- 32:05if she does hurt or buy somebody or do that, would she and I
- 32:08guess not no, no, But would she infect somebody No no, no,
- 32:14no, because she's not an active infection. She has the antidot essentially
- 32:17in her flood or something. Yeah, it was a nice straw though.
- 32:22That was definitely you know, swift like, so she was very smart this
- 32:25episode, even how she took out James Ward. I had to give it
- 32:29to her on that one because but your knife to work, like, yeah,
- 32:32one hit. Even when she hit her quitter once she was doing that
- 32:37right before the end, when she was running from David and she grabbed the
- 32:39fucking stick. I yelled out, good girl, Like she grabbed the fire
- 32:43stick. I said, yes, don't that Nigga said, like yeah,
- 32:45I was like, man, watch she threw it. But I get it
- 32:46because she need to range. She knows to get distance, that's all.
- 32:51Yeah. And then I mean I would have grabbed like two or three of
- 32:53them set that. I would have been set the whole thing off fire.
- 32:58But I would have been thrown at that shit like fucking axe throwing at that.
- 33:00Nigga, Like, I would have went in on that. But you
- 33:04know, you do what you like. She did what she could in the
- 33:07situation. She was saying she was fucking terrified and understand. And that's the
- 33:09first time. I think that's the first, which is interesting again the word
- 33:14interesting, he's coming up because a lot of terrifying shit has happened to Ellie,
- 33:17like truly terrifying shit, the ship in the museum, right, right,
- 33:23But I mean this was a different level of terrifying. And yeah,
- 33:27keep speaks to me. It keeps speaking to me, back to what you
- 33:30kept saying about not wanting to see the worst humanity and all this other stuff,
- 33:32like, yes, Ben, all this show has thown me is humanity's
- 33:37worse than these fucking infected Yes, easily and that and that's why I'm saying
- 33:40that is like the obvious thing. You know, that's like the Walking Dead.
- 33:44You know, the big thing about the Walking Dead is at one point
- 33:46Rich says, we are the walking Dead. It's not the zombies, it's
- 33:50the people. And it's like, whoa wow. Yeah it was the first
- 33:53time I read it. But now when you see that, you know that's
- 33:57also been pounded into my head by the George Romero, you know, by
- 34:00every zombie story ever. That's always the thing, Like I talked about Darna
- 34:05the Dead, the one where it takes place in the mall where for most
- 34:07of the movie the people have control the zombies. They're just chilling and living
- 34:10in the mall, and then like three quarters of the way in the movie,
- 34:15these fucking raiders come through and just start rubbing everybody out. And the
- 34:19first time I saw it, it just recked me because I'm just like,
- 34:22and it's a pretty cartoonish scene. These dudes come in like mad Max and
- 34:25shit, but it's still just ruined me because it was like, damn man,
- 34:30like it always is other fucking people. And that's the thing about the
- 34:35scene, and that's why Ellie is truly terrified, because death is one thing,
- 34:37but this is a fate worse than death, you know what I mean.
- 34:40And this is something Ellie's used to dealing with death. Okay, these
- 34:44clickers come through, They're gonna eat me. I die. I've seen that
- 34:46happened to many a person before, but something like this, you know,
- 34:52it's on another level. And it's just one of the especially with children,
- 34:55anything involving violence or the salt or anything negative to children or young people like
- 35:04that is particularly something that I do not fuck with. Yeah, I do
- 35:09not, no, um. So that's why it just hit me so bad
- 35:15and and generally I just shouldn't have watched this before bed. This was the
- 35:17last thing I watched. I watched a lot of things because you know,
- 35:21we were revealing a lot of different things right now, and I watched this
- 35:23right before bed, and I said, and I did not know again,
- 35:27rookie mistake, and I should know better, But you know, I was
- 35:30just I just did not think this episode was gonna be like that. I
- 35:34did not, And I was like, are you badass? And this is
- 35:37what the last thing in my this is the last vision in my head.
- 35:39And even with that warm thank god, the warmth a little bit of dwindling
- 35:46warmth at the end with Joe, I still was covered in cold. Like
- 35:51I was just like, this is the most horrible feeling. Yeah, I
- 35:54watched it early in the morning, so it pretty much set the tone for
- 35:59my days. Keep mistake. It doesn't matter when you watch this ship because
- 36:04no matter when you watch it, don't defect you. That's why I,
- 36:06like I said, I turned off BMF this season. I'm never going back
- 36:09to it. I never went back to Snowfall. After Saint killed his homie
- 36:15in the park. I was done after that. I'm like, I'm good,
- 36:17you know, I'm sure. You know, these actors are exceptional,
- 36:21et cetera. I'll see them at something else. Yeah, I'm just like
- 36:24I've seen it before, and oh man, hopefully we can get somebody else
- 36:30to host this for season two of Lack of Us because I'm like, you
- 36:35know, I got one more episode, and we got one more episode.
- 36:39I'm glad this ship don't come back for at least a year, maybe two,
- 36:43God willing, please don't come back, Like I know you're coming back
- 36:47already, but but take your time. Yeah, take your time. This
- 36:52is not like you know, what's you know, Castle Black, House of
- 36:57Dragon. I'm like, please come back. You know, I can't.
- 37:00I gotta wait two years for you because I get it this this kid,
- 37:02it's gonna be hard times and easy times. It's gonna be good times and
- 37:06bad times, and it's just like, damn, this is a lot of
- 37:08bad. Yeah. And I think that's the thing with House of Dragon,
- 37:12where it's like even I mean Game of Throne to some of its worst.
- 37:15You know, we talked about this Castle Black. I you know, I
- 37:17fast forward through the whole Torture season the second time I watched it for Castle
- 37:22Black because I could not watch My Man the Torture season, not just it
- 37:25was a whole season season and that's what killed me when I rewatched it.
- 37:29That whole season is spent torturing dude, and that shit is just like wow,
- 37:36like I get it, but I don't, you know, And that's
- 37:38just not the type of entertainment that I need in my life. Yeah,
- 37:43but I don't watch them like ted Lasso now, you know, like Abbend
- 37:46Elementary, like watching ABD Elementary. Yeah, like man last week was good
- 37:52too, and it's just like I don't, I don't know, man,
- 37:55this type of stuff and people like you know, this the trauma and I'm
- 38:00just like, yeah, but I don't need it, And there's ways to
- 38:04do this without doing that, you know, there's ways to have Like I
- 38:07say to me, the best I still have never played this game, but
- 38:09the best writing in video games for me is God a War and PlayStation five
- 38:15four Spider Man PS four Spider Man, Like, those are the two games,
- 38:17the first two games that I ever played that had me in tears and
- 38:22multiple points where I'm playing them, and neither of them involved you know,
- 38:28the assault on a child. Well, god Award does. So yeah,
- 38:32there's that. Yah, Yeah, well, you know it's it's just I
- 38:37don't know. It's a different it's different, it's different, it's very different.
- 38:42Any predictions you have for the last episode, episode nine, I don't
- 38:46think Joel making it. Something's telling me and I put I put it my
- 38:52point, this is going to end badly, huh Like finally the love is
- 38:58reciprocated, and it's just like, all right, this is probably gonna be
- 39:00the end for him, huh Like I know that Joel, I don't know
- 39:06if he's dead, but I know he ain't in all of part two.
- 39:09I think he mates it to Part two at least in the game, you
- 39:14know, as far as I know happens. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 39:16In the game, I know, and I noticed, and I also
- 39:19know coming up, Joel mates a big choice that you know, mad people
- 39:22play the game, you know, disagree with completely and it made people pissed
- 39:27off. And I guess that's about to happen in episode nine. So I
- 39:30guess we're coming to that choice. And you know Less saying I can't take
- 39:37you further anymore, go with my brother. Yeah, I was just as
- 39:40mad as Elly I said, are you dead ass? Right now? I
- 39:44see you, and I know we are going to see his brother again.
- 39:47We're gonna see that whole area again back um in part two. Yeah,
- 39:52Jackson Holle plays a bigger part in Part two. We've even seen you know
- 39:55a character who plays a huge part in Part two in the background of Jackson
- 40:00Hole, right, we saw her in that episode, right, Yeah,
- 40:05speaking of Jackson Hole, just just kind of a technical detour. Someone confirmed
- 40:10a few weeks ago. They were like, remember how we were like,
- 40:13oh, we thought he was tripping. We thought they was building the gallows,
- 40:15and we was like, no, we just saw a lot of bast
- 40:17Someone confers like, no, they were building gallows. Yeah, And so
- 40:21I think I think that is from part two in the game, when they
- 40:23do go back there and the person that we do see is the woman,
- 40:29I mean, the young girl who Ellie yelled at, who was standing off
- 40:31in the background and Elie, where are you looking at it over there?
- 40:35Right? And I think that girl becomes Ellie's love interest in Part two,
- 40:38or one of Ellie's love interests in part yeah, because I know that Part
- 40:44two revolves around Ellie and her major love interest you know, after because she's
- 40:51going to be like at least mid the late teens at that point. Yeah,
- 40:54but she's already mid teens. Think, yeah, I think we shipped
- 40:58forward a few years or something. You know, I'm not a hundred,
- 41:00but she's aging already, you know, because like this first season took place
- 41:05over like at least six seven months now, right, Yeah, yeah,
- 41:09had like a three month jump, and then they were already together, you
- 41:13know, and then every time you see them, times passed and she's fifteen,
- 41:16right, I thought she's used fifteen, I think so, Yeah,
- 41:20I think so. Yeah, so sixteen seventeen, yeah, you know time
- 41:23for that. She's not seventeen year but you probably Yeah, that's when she
- 41:27will be teenage love don't hurt me. Yeah, but thanks your offers for
- 41:31confirming our worst fears. They were in fact really hell so the rolls up
- 41:38in time, it's like, oh whoa right, like it's not yeah,
- 41:46you know, they don't don't look over there, guys, you know.
- 41:49Yeah, it was very Wizard of Out. It's like, oh, don't
- 41:51be behind the curtains up, And I guess that explains why they didn't need
- 41:54a jail, right. Um. I another more soul. Comment Terry about
- 42:05the future, I said, doesn't feel like each episode since Henry has gotten
- 42:08progressively worse. And when I say worse, I just don't mean. I
- 42:12don't again, not structurally, not as a show. I'm seeing in terms
- 42:15of how it makes us feel terrible about life, about humanity and just darkness.
- 42:21Yes, And once again, like I say, I don't, I
- 42:25don't know, man, I feel like the people who need this type of
- 42:29stuff in their life have not had enough darkness and drama in their life.
- 42:32Because me is someone who's had a lot of darkness and drama in his life.
- 42:37That's what I mean where I'm like, after while, I'm like,
- 42:39I don't really need this type of stuff. That's why I love things like
- 42:43ted Lasts, And that's why I love things like even you know, because
- 42:46I know you brought them up before. I mean, we always thought about
- 42:49this. How you don't like the boy stout version of Superman. Yeah,
- 42:52but to me, like all Stars Superman, which is nothing but the ultimate
- 42:58boy Stout, the ultimate everything will work out. I will save the world
- 43:01no matter what, and the ultimate you know, you're all greater than I
- 43:07am. You know, the Superman loves humanity more than he loves himself,
- 43:12like Jesus does you know where it's like you can all be greater than I,
- 43:15in which a lot of people miss, you know, in Christianity is
- 43:17that's what Jesus tells all his followers. It's that all of y'all will be
- 43:22greater than me. You know, people miss that part. So I think
- 43:27that's the thing that you know, that's what I love. And it's also
- 43:30something that me and Mellow Mellow Brown we talk about this a lot. It's
- 43:32the hard It's one of the hardest things to write, is a hopeful character,
- 43:37you know, And that's why I love Captain America and how they managed
- 43:40to do that in those films and the MCU where Steve Rogers is the super
- 43:45earnest character. And it's also what happens in everything everywhere all at once.
- 43:51You know, it's like the lead is just super earnest, just be kind
- 43:54in the face of everything. Yeah, but see the thing, like you
- 43:58using Captain American example of that, I see the i've because of the way
- 44:01he was written and the way he's acted. Let's be let's be even real.
- 44:07I see the genuineness in it, like it doesn't come off as cheesy
- 44:09or corny, which is why, like I've always said, I famously don't
- 44:13like boy Scout versions froman but because I've always felt propaganda behind it for at
- 44:19least this MCU type stuff. Like I when it come to Captain America,
- 44:22like I just felt like, yeah, he really believes that ship. And
- 44:25not only that, he wasn't just talking to talk. He was still fucking
- 44:28shit up too, you know what I'm saying. It's like when you're like,
- 44:30oh, let's komb bay yah and I'm not gonna hear the flight,
- 44:32I'm like, nah, let's be fucking for real. Violence is the answer
- 44:36sometimes and believe it or not, but like Captain America believes violence too,
- 44:40you understand, Like he makes shit happen when it needs to happen, and
- 44:43at the same time he's about hoping all this other stuff and to that greater
- 44:46point of wanting to see characters and stories that so hope and and and positivity
- 44:54into you versus everything is terrible everything. And that's the problem. Because I
- 45:02see this. A lot of people have brought it up on our comments.
- 45:05When I made these comments in the first few episodes, when I kept talking
- 45:07about how if you look at the numbers in any tragedy, in any great
- 45:13you know, natural disaster, etc. Whatever, terrorist attack, whatever you
- 45:19want to call it, people come together more than they fall apart. You
- 45:22know, people will help each other far more than they hurt each other.
- 45:27And so I think that is always the weaker writing to just show people like
- 45:31this, you know, like every person they run into damn me or other
- 45:35than like the Native Americans and uh, well Henry and Sam and you know,
- 45:39the first trouble beyond that, it's like everyone else wants to kill you
- 45:44and every and not only that, I mean Jesus Christ, Like we have
- 45:46two different bosses who are just complete idiots. Yeah, for no good reason
- 45:52other than like revenge, you know, or you know, my emotions.
- 45:55And it's just that's so yeah, that's so silly. And that's what I
- 46:00mean, that's not that's that's something else Momoni was talking about. Like even
- 46:04if you've never dealt drugs, right, the wire shows you the humanity of
- 46:07these people who do, and that's when it becomes like this was not humanity.
- 46:13This is just cartoonish. This is a cartoon you know, much ass
- 46:16twirling villain, just like shorty was you know, both of them are just
- 46:20like silly villains who are like, like I had to ask twice, how
- 46:24did you ever get people to follow you beyond Jesus, beyond you know,
- 46:30your brother or whatever. With the first one, it's like, these are
- 46:32two morons at least what we are shown on screen of them. Well,
- 46:38I mean we can ask that of people who you know was leading the country
- 46:43not too long though, Um, I know, but people them, I
- 46:50know, well, I get it. Every writer wants to, you know,
- 46:52make a point about Trump too. It's like, all right, fam,
- 46:54but you know at certain points you can't. You can't do that twice
- 46:57in one season. Then you can't have and and beyond that, Like,
- 47:00okay, I can get I can't understand why these people would follow them before
- 47:05the comments trem and me. I can understand why they would follow them,
- 47:07but don't on screen. Then why you show these characters make just ill logical
- 47:15to the most It's yeah, whatever, I'm I get it, I get
- 47:20it's it's it's infuriating musially for you know, one of revenge. I can
- 47:23somewhat get that bro right behind you, yeah, but is right behind you,
- 47:30I know, but fuck it you know, dude killed her brother.
- 47:35You know, I'm gonna you know, I'm gonna get my get back.
- 47:37You gotta be alive to get to get back, No, get to get
- 47:42back and then die. You know, fuck it, it's all you know,
- 47:44but you gotta be alive to even do it. Yeah, I know,
- 47:47not even enjoy it. To accomplish the act of getting revenge. You
- 47:52have to be alive first. Well, she thought she had time. I
- 47:57don't know how, but you know, like yeah, but then this one,
- 48:00like I like, dude, shouldn't just bounced like there's it wasn't like
- 48:07he was like, you know, I want to die. You know,
- 48:09there was nothing leading up to this. It was just like my fingers broke,
- 48:15I'm gonna die. You know, like what how does you have a
- 48:16whole flock, David, your whole flock film? Fuck um? Because one
- 48:22little girl, you know, like the one so bad I was really in
- 48:31love with James and you hear them. I don't know, like, you
- 48:36know, give me something, give me something. I don't know. I
- 48:42don't know. Yeah, I just I'm very scared and scared. It's just
- 48:46again from my from my mental health specifically, I am a tad nervous for
- 48:52the last episode of the Last of Us. Yeah, we actually were given
- 48:58the last two, you know, to review ahead of time, so we
- 49:01now have both in our possession, and I know, topdown it probably felt
- 49:06like me after watching that from eighth I'm like, yeah, I need a
- 49:08few days off on that. At least I needed some time. I need
- 49:12something. I probably won't watch the next one until like next week, because
