- 3:29Try to just Greg Thomas, good morning, sir, Good morning buddy.
- 3:31How are you. I am doing fine, Greg, and I you
- 3:34know, you can tell we're getting old because prior to the show, we
- 3:37spent five minutes discussing our allergy issues. It's been killing me, man,
- 3:40for like three months now. I've had it real bad too, and it
- 3:46kind of comes and goes, but it's been the last week or so it's
- 3:49really been on top of it. That's how you know, you get to
- 3:51get And I'm a lot older than Greg, but I mean we sat down
- 3:54and we're like, well, well, what are your symptoms. What are
- 3:57you taking? And I've never had allergies or like that's stuck around this and
- 4:01I'm a kid who took allergy shots as a kid until I was like eleven
- 4:05or twelve and got to quit that. And now I'm like living on like
- 4:09you know, flown A's and stuff. Yeah, we moved. We moved
- 4:11to a new house a few years ago. And there must be some kind
- 4:14of bush or tree or something about where we are. That's just that's I
- 4:17don't know. I've just had it really bad. So I'm gonna have to
- 4:19like get on something permanent. I don't know since our last episode, uh
- 4:27that since last time you were on. You have been on since the election,
- 4:29but a couple of things of having I want to get your opinion of
- 4:31Donald Trump guilty, Hunter Biden guilty, and Mansion Independent. Well. I
- 4:39think the uh you know, look, I think the Trump stuff. You
- 4:45know, it's weird. It's like when that when when they're I mean,
- 4:48and they are using the legal system against him for political purposes. I mean,
- 4:53this isn't something new. We've seen this done in West Virginia, We've
- 4:57seen this done across the country. They're obviously doing that to him. And
- 5:00it does two things though, right, I mean one, actually it does
- 5:03three things. It's their base all fired up because they like, you know,
- 5:06they want it. Yeah, they string them up right that they want
- 5:11them. They're raising money off of it, doing all this stuff. And
- 5:13then and then of course Trump raises money off and off of his base,
- 5:15right, so all of his base gets fired up and everything. And then
- 5:18you sort of got the independence. And from what I can tell, they're
- 5:23they're sort of like split on this, right. I mean, I think
- 5:25you get some of the ones that, you know, some of the people
- 5:28that were sort of leaning toward him anyway, that look at it and think,
- 5:31oh my gosh, like if they could do that to him, they
- 5:33could do that to me or whatever. But then you get, you know,
- 5:38look, you legitimately have some independence, are like, hey, I
- 5:41don't want to vote for somebody for president who's been indicted or whatever found guilty,
- 5:45and and so, you know, I don't know, I think it's
- 5:48hard to say this so soon to this being to just happening. You know,
- 5:55what is the long term outcome of this going to be? I still
- 5:59hold that, I still I think Trump's gonna win this time. I think
- 6:01Trump's gonna win. Uh, I agree, And I think to me and
- 6:05I've you know, I think I did an interview with with somebody else here
- 6:09at the station. But like, there's three kinds of people in my mind
- 6:13that are Trump supporters. There's like the original people like me that were with
- 6:15him like August of twenty fifteen. You know, I wasn't with him on
- 6:19the escalator, but I wasn't. I got on board not too long after
- 6:23that just because I liked the outside or anything and mixing it up and I
- 6:27liked all that. And then you sort of have this next group of people.
- 6:30And I got a good number of my friends that are in this group
- 6:32that you know, supported him when he had the nomination, you know,
- 6:34definitely voted for him for president, and really liked the policies as he was
- 6:40president, right. I mean, they you know, squeamish at some of
- 6:43the other rhetoric and some of the things, but they were like, hey,
- 6:45man, he's really getting it done as president and now and then of
- 6:48course, you know, then they you know, had the election stolen from
- 6:51him in the next time or or not or not or not depending on interview.
- 6:58But this time, I feel like the reason it's going to go back
- 7:01to He's going to get even more people than the first time. And I
- 7:06think a little of it sort of the unsettling of the world, right,
- 7:10I mean, you have all this, you know, the Israel and Ukraine,
- 7:12and you know all this other stuff that's going on the border. But
- 7:15I think the thing's inflation. Man. I think it's inflation, dude,
- 7:18I just do know the same page I think. I think that. Look,
- 7:23I think that Joe Biden is almost a guy. Here's here's why I've
- 7:28been I've been wrong in elections in the past and may be wrong on this.
- 7:30But one of the reasons I think that Joe Biden is is not going
- 7:32to win is because his own base is turning against him right now and for
- 7:39various reason. There was a story on ABC News this morning about the A.
- 7:43C. L U is now coming out against Joe Biden over some things
- 7:46having to do with the border. And so there are so many of these
- 7:49people and I'm not saying they're going to go run vote for Trump, don't.
- 7:54I think they're just not going to vote. Maybe some will go third
- 7:57party, fourth party, whatever, they just they'll just stay out of it.
- 7:59But but Biden has got some issues within his own party. He's gotten
- 8:03more issues within his party and his quote unquote base than Trump does with hiss
- 8:09a heck of a lot more. Yeah, there's no doubt about that,
- 8:11David. I think that's and it's just the inflation, man, I mean,
- 8:13it's and everybody feels it, right, I mean even you know,
- 8:18everybody feels it. And kind of no matter what your station is, you
- 8:20know, unless you're just somebody that's making money off of a business that makes
- 8:24money during times like these, which there are some, right, I mean,
- 8:28you know, look, if you're a you know, if you're a
- 8:31federal contractor right now, you're probably pretty fat and happy, right, I
- 8:33mean, you got the you know, the federal government spending a ton of
- 8:37money, you know, so there's certain healthcare sectors, kind of federal construction
- 8:41sectors that are doing really well. But you know, if you're just somebody
- 8:46that's going to work and trying to feed your family and going to the grocery
- 8:50store and it used to cost eighty bucks and now it costs one hundred and
- 8:52twenty bucks. And you know, filling up your gas tank used to be
- 8:54thirty bucks and now it's forty five bucks. I mean, that stuff adds
- 8:58up, man, and somebody is going to take the blame for it.
- 9:01And it's gonna it's going to be the guy in the White House, Republican
- 9:05or Democrat. That's what's gonna be present. Right. Well, I mean
- 9:07they turned you know, if you remember, and I will use this as
- 9:09a segue into Mansion here, but you know, if you remember, they
- 9:13turned Biden's Build Back Better into the Inflation Reduction Act, right, that didn't
- 9:18reduce inflation. And of course that was the vote that Mansion casts to uh,
- 9:24you know, to sort of ingratiate himself. I don't I don't know
- 9:28why he cast it, but when he did cast it, that was the
- 9:31end of his political career in West Virginia. And that's when you knew he
- 9:35wasn't going to run for US Senate. And now all of a sudden you
- 9:39have this. You know, he didn't run for US Senate. Uh,
- 9:41and now you've got a push among and I think it's Look, I think
- 9:46there's a very there are people pushing him to run for governor as an independent.
- 9:50But you're talking about dozens of people, I mean, but those of
- 9:54the maybe maybe one hundreds of those of us that are in this business.
- 9:58Greg cannot borrow, beg or steel to get any of these people to go
- 10:01on the record to talk about it. I know they're there and I know
- 10:05who they are, but as far as getting them on the air to say
- 10:07that ain't happening. Well, it's the old school establishment, right. I
- 10:11mean, it's the people that have kind of had control of the state for
- 10:15the last twenty five years. I mean, look, this is one of
- 10:18the things and is you know you and I always say here, I mean
- 10:22I wasn't the biggest fan of Morrissey, but I mean I do think one
- 10:24of the things that Morrissey, one of the things I'm looking forward to him
- 10:28doing, is kind of cleaning out that mess, right. I mean I
- 10:33think you have you know, you just got certain people, certain lobbyists,
- 10:37certain associations, certain organizations or even industries really across the strait the estate that
- 10:43have had this inside track for twenty twenty five years and it's all just been
- 10:48the mansion machine, right. I Mean he's had you know, he put
- 10:52his people in certain places and they've been successful and they've helped him become successful
- 10:58and kind of been part of it that political machine, and I think that's
- 11:03getting broken up, and I think that'll be one of the you know,
- 11:07if you know, two years from now, if we're sitting here and being
- 11:09like, hey, what do you think? You know, what do you
- 11:11like about the Morrissey governorship, I'm gonna say, Hey, there's three things
- 11:16that I like, and one of them is going to be like he broke
- 11:18that up. And I see that coming. I mean, I know,
- 11:22I know they're talking about doing that stuff, and I'm looking forward to them
- 11:24doing it because I think it really needs to be done. Talking to Greg
- 11:28Thomas here, it's nine eight at eve Allen showing five Aye Life brought to
- 11:31you a part by Hustan's Pizza. This month that your favorite Hustan's get a
- 11:33large at n inch Pepperoni pizza and a whole ten inch sub only twenty three
- 11:37to ninety nine. We got some information about Joe Manchin. I want to
- 11:41get to with Greg, but do one knock out a couple of texts.
- 11:43Tex says Greg. How is Trump going to reduce inflation? Is he going
- 11:46to force companies to lower prices? No, you're gonna you you are going
- 11:52to not spend so much money, federal money. You're not going to go
- 11:56print money. It's the printing money that causes the inflation. I mean that,
- 12:01like, that's what it was. I mean, we just we the
- 12:03federal federal spending is out of control. It is, it's a record record
- 12:09highs. But Trump spend a lot too. I look, he definitely did.
- 12:13And that was sort of the reaction to the you know, his reactions
- 12:16still started under Trump, There's no question it did. But then so Trump
- 12:20did it. Trump did that first injection of it, like is this COVID
- 12:24reaction? And then the then the Democrats got in and were like, well,
- 12:28heck, if you can do it, watch this, buddy, you
- 12:31know what I mean exactly like watch this, and they've just made it go
- 12:35out of control. And that out of control spending is one hundred percent the
- 12:41reason for inflation, and and everybody knows it, and you know, so
- 12:46that's that's what you've got to do, is you've got to get control of
- 12:48that federal spending, you know. And I think, you know, you
- 12:52get control of that federal spending, you do some other things with monetary policy
- 12:56to start to bring down the interest rates and some other stuff. And I
- 13:00think you're going to see No, look, are we going to go back
- 13:01to you know, prices from five years ago? I doubt that, But
- 13:07I think at least if you can get kind of control of this thing and
- 13:09stop it is, that's that's got to be goal. I mean, if
- 13:13I'm the if I'm you know, if I'm President Trump, that's what I'm
- 13:16talking about being my number one goal, right is I'm going to stop this.
- 13:18I mean, you're just you know, we're going to go back to
- 13:22you know, we're going to do our best to go back to some of
- 13:24these uh you know, the costs that we had and the lower interest rates
- 13:28and stuff like that. That's just killing families in America. Let me knock
- 13:33out some more texts before we go to break. If Trump says a text
- 13:35or gets elected, well of another four years of nothing being done while spending
- 13:39increases, Trump will leave the country in worse state than it was when he
- 13:43took over, just like the last time, with the majority of his businesses.
- 13:46The guy's a clown, and too many people want his circus pathetic.
- 13:50I don't I mean, I just don't know how you can say the country
- 13:54was worse off pre COVID. You know what I mean, Look, you
- 14:00want to go from election day to election day. But if you go from
- 14:03the day he got elected to you know, the you know, February of
- 14:09whatever, that COVID year was, twenty twenty, you know, the undoubtedly
- 14:15he had done an excellent job as president. And look, you know,
- 14:20we say, look this person, you know, look, you want to
- 14:22have a debate over the COVID stuff. I'm not going to sit here and
- 14:24defend every action that Trump did during COVID. I mean, I don't agree
- 14:26with a lot of the stuff he did during COVID, so I'm not going
- 14:30to do that. But up until then, that's what Trump has to come
- 14:33back and tell people is like, hey, if you like that first three
- 14:39years and two months of my presidency, you're going to want you want forty
- 14:43eight more months of that, buddy, let's go. Final text before breaks
- 14:48is it's not just inflation. I'm thinking eight terrorists arrested who were already settled
- 14:52in US cities, not a new migrant, because over ten million illegals breaking
- 14:56into our country has a lot more to do with Trump will win. It's
- 15:03I put it at a strong number two for me. I mean, I
- 15:05think It's definitely something that a lot of people are concerned about and should be
- 15:09concerned about. I agree, you know, I think inflation's going to affect
- 15:13more voters, but I think more of our base is concerned about that issue,
- 15:18and justifiably so. Now twenty three of the Nave Island showing five eight

- 18:02for more information. Greg Thomas is here Texas. David. Greg is completely
- 18:06delusional. Yes, the convict might win this year, but I have no
- 18:10idea. When people say it's his policies, and what any of them are?
- 18:12I mean, he's a crazy, lunatic and a criminal Trump, I
- 18:15think not. You literally, what policy does he follow other than his own
- 18:21self interest? And if he wins, he'll be the same exact age as
- 18:23Biden during his term. And if he did win in twenty twenty, how
- 18:27can he win a third term? Y'all crazy liars? Look, I'll just
- 18:32I mean, you know, I'm gonna sit here and write off twenty policies.
- 18:36But let's rite off like three. We had a tax cut, right,
- 18:41so instead of increased spending, we had, you know, instead of
- 18:44us having to pay more, we were having to pay less to the government,
- 18:47which I think is good. Trump was closing the border as opposed to
- 18:52now we haven't. He didn't build the law like he said he you know,
- 18:56he needed more help from Congress, but he also should have gotten that
- 18:59done. But I mean he you know, we had a much different border
- 19:00policy, right, yeah, I agree with that. You know, we
- 19:03had a much different border policy. And just you know, this whole policing
- 19:07the world thing, I mean, it's just not something we need to be
- 19:08doing anymore. I mean, just isn't. I mean, I'm not saying
- 19:11we shouldn't have you know, stations overseas or whatever at all, but I
- 19:15mean this whole you know, getting involved in every conflict and the Ukraine nonsense
- 19:19and all that, I mean, that's just silly. So I mean,
- 19:21I you know, to say that the pot you know, he doesn't have
- 19:22any different policies, I mean, that's just that's delusional. Uh, Jersey
- 19:27Morrissey is a political hack who doesn't represent West Virginia. Just maga nuts,
- 19:32uh, says A texture Texas says Greg seems to think things happened in a
- 19:37vacuum during four years and that the previous four years of decisions don't affect the
- 19:41following years. Look, we I mean didn't we didn't we talk about how
- 19:47you know, like Trump's poty, you know, Trump's actions during I thought
- 19:51we just talked about that. We did talk about how, you know,
- 19:53some of the things that were done during COVID certainly was the start of this
- 19:56and then had an impact on it. But the Democrats tripled down on the
- 20:00spending. I mean, that's the that's the thing that caused inflation to go
- 20:03out of control was just the you know it. It was like a ball
- 20:07rolling down the hill, and you know, they didn't catch the ball.
- 20:10They kicked the ball down the hill. Tex says when the Feds continuously print
- 20:14workless dollars, it's a legal act. They called it modern monetary theory to
- 20:18pay off the debt. Yet if a tax paying citizen were to do the
- 20:22same thing at home, that's a crime. It's called counterfeiting, says a
- 20:25textra Jexter says Obama left Trump a booming economy and he blew it. Did
- 20:29nothing for the state of West Virginia. Biden bringing in good green jobs via
- 20:33new Core steal. The Biden didn't bring in new course steel. The state
- 20:38brought in new course steal. There are other projects that have been brought in
- 20:42form energy and other ones that have been the green energy stuff. But the
- 20:47new Core had been working, had been in the works for year. That's
- 20:49I mean, trying to take credit like that that was that happened because the
- 20:53Republicans took over and we changed state policies. Like the state policies that were
- 20:57changed, brought in new cores in some of these other green energy things.
- 21:03You know, my question, you know, my question about some of these
- 21:06other green energy things is, you know, if Trump does get in there
- 21:08and they stop funding that stuff, what happens to those projects? You know,
- 21:12because I mean, they're not making money on their own, you know
- 21:15what I mean. I mean, they're they're making money. You know,
- 21:18They're they have resources because of the subsidies. All right, let me move
- 21:22on here. You sent me some information yesterday, Greg about Senator Mansion and
- 21:26it was a group called from a group called the Kaplan Strategies Group. Caplin
- 21:30conducted a poll in West Virginia following Senator mansion switch from Democrat to independent.
- 21:34Now, according to the poll, Senator Mansion's favorable rating right now sit somewhere
- 21:38between forty five and forty eight percent. That's as of now. If the
- 21:44Senator were to enter the race as an independent running for governor, if that's
- 21:49if he would still trail Attorney General Patrick Morrissey, would Democrat Huntington mayor Steve
- 21:56Williams, the Democratic nominee, coming in third. Thoughts on this from the
- 22:00Caplin Strategy. Look, you know, and this and this is a you
- 22:03know, sort of a national polling firm that does this kind of stuff all
- 22:07over the country. I think this poll, you know, this poll only
- 22:10had Trump at like fifty five percent here, which I think is probably ten
- 22:14points low. So I think this poll is i'd say ten or more.
- 22:17Yeah, So I think this poll's sort of a little this this poll is
- 22:22definitely more moderately focused than probably what it should leaning than and what it should
- 22:27be. But even so, you know, morris he's up like ten you
- 22:34know, with Morrissey having got like a third of the Republican primary vote.
- 22:38According to this poll, he's already got another third already with him. And
- 22:42look, he's not going to get one hundred percent of the Republican vote,
- 22:45but I look, I think he is going to go out and get you
- 22:48know, he's already at two thirds. I think he gets the three fourths
- 22:51by the time we get to the fall, probably gets eighty to eighty five
- 22:55percent at the end of the day. You know. And so you know,
- 23:00Mansion in this survey is slightly ahead of Steve Williams. But we're back
- 23:04into that situation where you know, look, Morsey has trouble with the one
- 23:08on one race, but a multi candidate race he wins. And that's the
- 23:11situation in the spring, right, Yeah, yeah, I mean that's that's
- 23:15gonna be the situation here. I mean, to think that Mansion's going to
- 23:18be able to kind of win a three way race with a Democrat in it
- 23:22against Morrissey, I mean, it's just a it's just a pipe drink if
- 23:26it even happens. I mean, he's not said, you know, that's
- 23:30and I think that's what we're talking about here is you know, look,
- 23:32Manchion isn't going to get in a race that he doesn't think he has a
- 23:36more than likely chance to win. And you don't get into a race where
- 23:40you're down ten in the republican candidate hasn't even brought all the Republicans home yet
- 23:44thinking I'm going to go and get this. I mean, you know,
- 23:47because there's still just a lot of liberals. I mean, there's not a
- 23:49lot of liberals in West Virginia. You know, if you count you know,
- 23:52if you did as a percentage of your Texters, it would be,
- 23:56but like you know, you get a you know, twenty percent of our
- 24:00state is liberal, and guess what this poll had Steve Williams at twenty one
- 24:04percent. You know, I think this poll is probably a little bit heavy
- 24:08on moderates, which was probably done for Mansion's favor. But even with the
- 24:12poll that was done to kind of probably make them look good, you don't
- 24:15see them out here kind of proposing it, you know, promoting it,
- 24:18because I just don't think this is real. I mean, I think this
- 24:21is you know, one hundred people that really want them to do it.
- 24:25Joe lets it go on and does a couple interviews every once in a while
- 24:27because he likes the attention, you know, I know, the you know,
- 24:33if you if this show we're based in you know, Morgantown and not
- 24:36Charleston. You know, most people up there think that he's angling for the
- 24:40w presidency job. I mean they think that's really the thing that I've heard
- 24:42some discussion, and Hoppy talked about this a couple of months ago. I
- 24:47don't see that happening simply, and I've said this and this is no disrespect
- 24:51toward Joe Mansion whatsoever. WVU, and I got in trouble because I said
- 24:55fancies itself as an academic institution. I didn't they are an academic because I
- 25:00didn't mean that in a negative way toward WVU. What I meant to say
- 25:03is is that it's very hard for somebody. I mean, look, Brad
- 25:06Smith is just doing a kick butt job at Marshall University, right, nobody
- 25:08would even question. But I think a lot of the folks at WVU,
- 25:14much like a lot of other quote unquote larger universities, they don't like the
- 25:18idea of a non academic coming in there. And again, that's not a
- 25:21slap against Joe Manchin. I think Mansion would probably do a pretty good job
- 25:23as WVU president. It's not a slap against him. I just think I
- 25:27just don't see that happening. Let me ask you this before because I got
- 25:30several things I got to get to before you go. I want to ask
- 25:33you about the Republicans, the ones that ran for governor, you know,
- 25:37Warner, Capitol, and Miller. Are they all going to be behind Morrison?
- 25:41Oh? I think they all will. Yeah, yeah, they'll all
- 25:42do that. I think. I mean, I think so too. I
- 25:45think I think he had a lot of you know, there's a lot because
- 25:47that was a nasty campaign grade it was very nasty. Ad the rhetoric and
- 25:51the ads got pretty aggressive. And that'll take a little bit of time.
- 25:53But no, I can't imagine that that any of those three would not support
- 25:57him. Think there'll be different, various levels of support, but I can't
- 26:03imagine we're not going to go out there and say, yeah, I'm voting
- 26:07for this guy. I think you should vote. One of the things that
- 26:07came out of that poll that continues to amaze me is the popularity of Governor
- 26:11Jim Justice. According to the poll, he is leading Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott
- 26:15big time. I mean something like sixty to twenty seven percent among those that
- 26:21have made up their minds in those races, I think that race is going
- 26:23to be seventy thirty at the end of the day. I mean, I
- 26:26mean it's at least going to be two to one. That's a two to
- 26:29one race, without question. I've touched on this for some time, not
- 26:33a whole lot number one, because it really doesn't impact our area, so
- 26:37to speak. But I've kind of deferred to Hoppy doing the statewide show on
- 26:40this, but this situation in Mingo County during the primary, the allegations of
- 26:44Democrats being handed Republican ballots when they went to the polling place. You've been
- 26:51at the forefront kind of looking on this. I know you were on with
- 26:53my friend Mark Curtis on Inside West Virginian Politics over the weekend talking about it.
- 26:59What the heck went on there? Well, we're getting to the bottom
- 27:02of it. You know, we after the election we just had, there
- 27:04were a whole lot of Democrats that were calling the Republican candidates and saying,
- 27:08hey, I got to vote for you. And everybody was like, oh
- 27:11gosh, you know you, how were you able to vote for me?
- 27:14And we started looking and we started looking around, and then we looked at
- 27:17the precinct results, and you had precincts that had ninety seven percent Republican turnout,
- 27:23ninety two and eighty eight, which I love what you said on Mark
- 27:26Curtis, you said, if they're getting ninety seven percent voter turnout, they
- 27:30need to be doing voter engagement. They need to be the ones out there.
- 27:33If they could manage to get ninety seven percent the people to show up.
- 27:36Yeah, look, Republican turnout statewide was thirty percent. Republican turnout in
- 27:40Mingo County was sixty nine percent, and so we do think something's a miss
- 27:45down there. You know, there's a there's a delegate candidate, John White,
- 27:48there's a County commission candidate, and then a state Senate candidate, Chandler
- 27:52Swape, who's challenged the election they had. They met with the County Commission
- 27:57early last week. A hearing has been set for July eighteenth, and so
- 28:04between now and then, the County Commission, uh, you know, the
- 28:10parties are working together with the County Commission to be able to review the election
- 28:14information, including the poll books, and hopefully from that review, we'll be
- 28:18able to determine just how many Democrats voted in the Republican primary. And so
- 28:22in addition to the precinct results, you know, we you know, we
- 28:26we have affidavits that indicate there were some I'm gloud to put it it best
- 28:32procedural problems in Mingo County work error. I mean, well, well,
- 28:37you know, look, we're reviewing the information and we're going to review as
- 28:40much information as possible to see if we can determine why Mingo County had that
- 28:45sixty nine percent Republican turnout. You know why the when Trump wasn't on the
- 28:49ballot not Yeah, and it's in a primary, and you know, you
- 28:55that's what I meant. Yeah, it's it's just and you got to ask
- 28:57yourself, Okay, was this is where? Okay, if it did happen
- 29:00that way, maybe some poll workers made a mistake, or were people I
- 29:04hate to be conspiracy theorist, or were somebody directing this. I think there's
- 29:10a couple different options. We don't want to assign any you know, we
- 29:14don't know yet, right and that's why we're going down there asking hey,
- 29:17can we look at the poll books. We're going to be talking to more
- 29:18voters, you know, just trying to get as much information as we can
- 29:22before this hearing. We'll have this hearing, we'll see how that goes,
- 29:26and you know, we'll be you know, vigorously working sort of the legal
- 29:32ends of this to try to get it resolved, you know, before the
- 29:36ballots are printed or you know, I don't know the exact timeline at this
- 29:38point, but you know, hopefully we can get this resolved as soon as
- 29:41possible. Great Thom, It's always a pleasure to have you in the show

- 32:52Text says, to reduce spending programs we need I'm sorry, to reduce spending
- 32:57programs we need to be cut. What programs will be cut? Texas tax
- 33:00cuts to the wealthy during Trump. I'm just flabbergasted, says a Texter,
- 33:06that anyone would say mister Trump did a good job at anything. He passed
- 33:08a tax cut that benefited mostly corporations and the more wealth to do taxpayers,
- 33:13and I know nothing else that made a difference. He thought over the border
- 33:15fence, took money from home construction for homes with the military to build it
- 33:21again, says a texture. Look back at the twenty eighteen numbers and there's
- 33:24a graph in here. Sex says, do any of you Trump paters actually
- 33:30sit back and listen to yourselves on how erratic you get when talking about Trump.
- 33:34You people are the definition of a Trump of Trump derangement syndrome. Come
- 33:37up for air and breathe, people and calm down. The sad thing is
- 33:43as a text that if the party a family values is voting for a rapist,
- 33:45fraudstrate, and most likely a child molester. Lay off the kool aid
- 33:50folks, Texas with the people like Greg. If you aren't licking the GOP
- 33:53Trump boot, you're a liberal, says a Texter. There's only one who
- 34:00does not have ties to Jeffrey Epstein, and that person is Joe Biden,
- 34:02Pedro, John Pederal Dawn. Rather, it should be in prison, says
- 34:07a text. Jexas said, Dave, I voted in Kanawah County. I'm
- 34:09a Republican that have been for a very long time. When I voted,
- 34:13the poll worker asked me which ballot I want? What if you're a registered
- 34:15Republican and they ask you what ballot you wanted, then that's that's illegal Texas.
- 34:22You guys are right. I wish I had less value of my stock
- 34:24portfolios, which more of my friends were out of work. Please tell the
- 34:28whole story, says a text. Coming up tomorrow show, It's Friday.
- 34:30Me and he handa gardener from the kenaw Charlest new main associations here with our
- 34:34adopt me Please pet of the week. We'll talk live on the levee,
- 34:36maybe with Jim Strawn. Jimbo has been working some other projects that of taking
- 34:39him away from our normal Friday time slot, although he is still making his
- 34:43weekly appearances live on the Levee. We'll talk about it regardless. Yakfest is
- 34:47this weekend and saying always my man Steve Animal from nine to eight to seven,
- 34:51A mountain will be here in the middle. He'll be out in the
- 34:52middle of all that, and he'll be here to talk about it tomorrow.
- 34:53Plus Canaw County Commissioned expected to name a new prosecutor tonight, as I mentioned
- 34:59at the top of the show, efforting to get whomever that person is to
- 35:01be on the show coming up tomorrow. Plus a special guest on the show
- 35:06tomorrow, our good friend Amy Breedlove. You've heard Amy on the show before.
- 35:08She's a native of Charleston. She's made a career for herself as a
- 35:12professional voiceover artist. If you go through the self checkout at Target, you've
- 35:16heard her voice. She also did her time in radio Land working for a
- 35:20sister station, V one hundred. She and I survived the broadcasting program at
- 35:23Marshall together. Amy and her husband live in Florida, but they're in Charleston
- 35:27for the summer, so she's gonna kind of stop buying. Can help me
- 35:30co host tomorrow. Well, you've seen her on WCCHS television no relation on
- 35:35the news each morning Fox eleven too. She's been on the show in the
- 35:38past. But this weekend she's gonna be on stage. I guess it's this
- 35:42weekend, is that right? It kicks off on Sunday, so I'm sorry
- 35:45Monday. So Monday I check in and then on over this acline and she's
- 35:50going to be on in front of the cameras on a different light as you're
- 35:52competing for Miss West forrgays. Welcome to Welcome to the show. Yeah,
- 35:55I appreciate you, appreciate you having me back. So what goes on with
- 35:59this day? You have to start this weekend, So it's a long process.
- 36:02So Sunday I'm leaving because it's going to be in Martinsburg, Okay,
- 36:06And then Monday we check in and then we'll be doing different events throughout the
- 36:08week, and then for three days we do preliminaries and then the final night
- 36:14is Sunday or Saturday, the twenty second. So what goes on, So
- 36:16there's a lot there's a lot that goes on. So there's on stage question,
- 36:21there's gown, there's talent, there's interview. So it's a big process.
- 36:25So I had you on the show before to talk about this. What
- 36:29made you want to do this? I mean, you're a successful person in
- 36:31the world of television news. You get ten thousand other things going on.
- 36:34What made you decide to want to do this? Yeah? I get that
- 36:36question a lot, and I think for me, a background about me.
- 36:38I'm actually a two time stage four cancer survivor. So when I was going
- 36:43through treatment, I was told that I would have a fifteen percent survivor rate,
- 36:45and I'm now twenty one years of remission. And for me, I
- 36:49always wanted to be that voice. And I want other cancer patients, cancer
- 36:52survivors to look at me and go, wow, you know what she did
- 36:54it. Look what I can do too. So how much have pageants changed
- 37:01over the years, Because I grew up as a kid of the seventies and
- 37:04you saw the pageant with Burt Parks from Atlantic City, and there was always
- 37:07the you know, the singing competition, somebody would twirl a baiton, or
- 37:12there was a swimsuit competition or whatever. How much have they changed as a
- 37:15whole over the years. It's evolved. You know, we really look at
- 37:19talent and I remember years ago you saw the girls that competed and they would
- 37:22train in Europe and they were these amazing pianists. And now the talent's were
- 37:27revamped. So for me, my talent's a little bit different. So I
- 37:30went on stage and I went, Okay, they don't want me to sing,
- 37:34They definitely don't want me to dance. What am I going to do?
- 37:37So I have a background. My parents were going to make homes and
- 37:38I love to flip properties as well. So I'm going to teach you how
- 37:42to fix a faulty wire on stage. So that's my talent. What does
- 37:46some of the other people do? Since it's kind of gotten away from the
- 37:50traditional talent suspect some of the other people. So Miss America right now,
- 37:52Madison Horse or something, right, I heard that now you can do cheerleading
- 37:58on stage. Madison marshmaths America right now. She's a fighter pilot. So
- 38:00she did more of a monologue and talked about how she got into it her
- 38:05like learning to fly planes, different things like that. So it's revamped from
- 38:07the traditional ways. Well, and it's it's it's changed over the years.
- 38:12Yeah, I mean it's and everything's taking place in Martinsburg. It's all in
- 38:15Martinsburg. Yep. So you head up on Sunday. I'm leaving on Sunday
- 38:19just to kind of get prepared. I check it on Monday and then I'll
- 38:22be competing that and how many how many people compete in this time? So
- 38:25in total there's fifteen of us, so I'm missing Okay, So how did
- 38:29you get to that level? Yeah? So you can compete for a preliminary
- 38:32or you can do at large, and I just ended up going out large.
- 38:36So my title was mis Metro Valley m we have a texture. It
- 38:39says twenty one years remission after twice. It says twenty one years remission after
- 38:44twice having stage four cancer. That's incredible. Thank you. Yeah. I
- 38:46always want to be a voice for people, and I want people when they
- 38:50hear the word cancer to have somebody like Hannah that they can really discuss those
- 38:53hard hitting questions in those hard thus so many I mean again, and I've
- 38:58done a lot of charitable things over the years of my radio career with cancer,
- 39:01and one thing you can always say about cancer is it touches every one.
- 39:05Everybody. I always say that you can walk into a room and ask
- 39:07people to raise their hand if you or someone you know has been affected and
- 39:10being people will well. And how's the TV thing going? I mean,
- 39:14and you're you're still killing it on the morning on the mornings now, Yeah,
- 39:17I'm on mornings now. So I switched. I was working evenings and
- 39:20I anchor a lot more. So I know Jennifer's been out for a little
- 39:22bit. She's not feeling too well, so I've been taking over this week,
- 39:25so Anthony's been having to deal with me. Well, we wish you
- 39:30the best to like Anna, It's always a plus of pleasure to talk to
- 39:31you and have you in. This is the second time I think that you've
- 39:34had time. I'm glad you wanted to be back. Well. I think
- 39:37this is a fact. And and and if you win, we're going to
- 39:38have you well when we're gonna we're gonna have you on the Are there other
- 39:40others from the Charleston area. There are There are several girls that are from
- 39:45the Charleston area. Jennifer Ruth right now. I competed with her last year
- 39:49and she got top five as well, so I'm competing with her again.
- 39:51There's a couple of girls that are fairly new that are heading over to Martinsburg
- 39:54as well. So it's good. But we would love to see I mean,
- 39:57because you know you're you're a friend of the show. We'd love to
- 39:59see you do well. But if it's not you, we'd love to have
- 40:00somebody from the metro area. And I know you would be saying that as
- 40:05well. So after whoever the winner is, if it's you, do you
- 40:07do walk around the sash like all the all the time? I mean,
- 40:09how's that work? I hope. So I'll be going to the grocery store
- 40:13with that sash. How you wear it? I'll pump in gas with a

- 44:12Commissioner Ben Selango is here. How are you, Sirtain, I'm great,
- 44:15good morning. Did you tell her Hannah client that you had already trademarked that
- 44:19name? Trademarked it a demos to dormos to doorknobs, so I get a
- 44:22quarter every time her episode runs. That is kind of cool though, that
- 44:27you know somebody that you see on television is going to be running from Miss
- 44:29West Virginia. But we have several people from the Charles Stonnaria that are running.
- 44:31According to what she said, So, yeah, we do, we
- 44:34do, and that's awesome. I think she was in top five last year.
- 44:37Five. I'm hoping one of our Charlestonnaria people know who no matter who
- 44:40it is. I mean, I'm friends with Hannah, but I'd like to
- 44:43see the rest of them, you know, like to see somebody from the
- 44:45Charles scenario. When did it be kind of cool too? All right,
- 44:46before we get into anything else, Ben, I wanted to ask you about
- 44:50the life and legacy have retired Kenna Kenny Serga Judge Herman, Judge Kennedy that
- 44:57passed away. Talk about that. Yeah, so I was not on the
- 44:59commisson and obviously when he was a judge, but I was practicing law when
- 45:02he was a judge. I've been pricing now for twenty seven years, and
- 45:07he was. He was just one of the kindest people you could possibly meet,
- 45:10always fair, did so much for the county, so much for the
- 45:15state, and you know, he'll be missed. And it's been a while
- 45:19since I talked to him. But yesterday Duke Bloom, Judge dou Bloom texted
- 45:22me and let me know that he had passed, and you know, I
- 45:24was before my time in Charleston. Of course, I certainly knew the name,
- 45:29and I was doing little research and reading about what a life. I
- 45:31mean, everything that the judge did or just about everything was the first.
- 45:37It was absolutely he was a trail blazer. He was the first to do
- 45:39this and the first of his color to do this in the first And now
- 45:43to the point, and this is what I like about this sort of thing,
- 45:45when it becomes that if another African American is elected to that position,
- 45:51the day that we no longer have to say the first, that's right,
- 45:52you know, the day that we know we would just say it's it's the
- 45:54guy, or it's the lady or whatever. He was the first. And
- 45:58we've had a number of we've had several African American judges in Kanawa County.
- 46:02Judge Burger was amazing. Now so she's in the Southern District US District Court
- 46:07and I don't get to see her that often, but you know, just
- 46:09wonderful judges. And Judge Kennedy's definitely going to be missed. And he exemplified
- 46:15what a judge should be. I mean, he his demeanor, always good
- 46:20about getting his rulings out. Just a wonderful judge, wonderful person, commissioner,
- 46:25big time happenings. I guess later there will be an announcement that'll come
- 46:29out at the Kanawh County Commission be the new prosecutors got to be named,
- 46:34and I'm efforting, as I said, to have whomever that person is on
- 46:37the show tomorrow. So this process, how does this process work to name
- 46:42because this was the you have an opening now because of a retirement, So
- 46:45so how does the whole thing work? And then announcement comes later to well,
- 46:49you know, so five o'clock, we're going to celebrate Chuck Miller's retirement.
- 46:52I mean, he's been just a wonderful part of the community, was
- 46:55a great prosecutor. Of course, he was us district attorney for a while,
- 47:00so we're definitely going to miss him. I understand, you know,
- 47:02he wants to move on. We appreciate his service, and we're going to
- 47:07recognize him today with a proclamation and then we're going to do the appointment very
- 47:12similar to the way that we did the County Commission vacancy. We'll probably put
- 47:15out a press release earlier today just to let folks know who we think is
- 47:22going to get it. Of course, we are not allowed to vote outside
- 47:24of a public meeting, but our county manager can go back and forth between
- 47:28the commissioners and just find out who we want. So this is you and
- 47:31commission President Wheeler that come to a and Commissioner Slotnik. So now I keep
- 47:36forgetting we have another commissioner out. I forgot about it, forgot about him.
- 47:38Yeah, so we'll probably do something today around one or one thirty pm,
- 47:42a press release, because I did not want kind of like they did
- 47:45what we did with the commission meeting. I don't want a bunch of people
- 47:49showing up thinking they're going to get it and only to be let down.
- 47:53And that's when I was appointed in twenty seventeen. I was thrilled that I
- 47:57was appointed, but I really felt badly for the other nine didn't get it,
- 48:00and they had their family there and they were ready to take pictures.
- 48:01And so we want to do it a little differently. I also want to
- 48:07mention the issue with Tyler Mountain, with the with the Fire Department of several
- 48:09authors of their resigned. I know there was a pretty contentious public meeting held
- 48:13last night as socials video and heard our story about that. What exactly can
- 48:16you tell us about that? Do you know what the issues are? I
- 48:19mean, can you give any insight into that? I do. I think
- 48:22the you know, the biggest issue right now, we've got to make sure
- 48:23that we have coverage. As soon as I heard that there was an issue
- 48:28coming up that we were going to have mass resignations from the volunteer fire department
- 48:31out there, we entered a mutual aid agreement with several other fire departments to
- 48:37make sure that there's coverage and cross sayings. That's number one priority. You
- 48:39know, We've got to have people that are responding house fires, car accidents,
- 48:45whatever it may be. We've got to have people. We worked with
- 48:45enter A nine one one, we work at the State Fire Marshal's office to
- 48:49make sure that there was coverage just in case the rumors that we were hearing,
- 48:52you know, I was getting texts about were true that in fact there
- 48:57were going to be mass resignations, and of course that happened. How many
- 49:00are we talking because O recently it was like ten, but then others have
- 49:02come back and said, well, no, it really wasn't that many.
- 49:05Do you have a more definitive number. You know, I've seen different numbers.
- 49:08Initially. I heard it was seven initially, and then I think there
- 49:14are you know, some of the members that resigned had problems with the way
- 49:16that it was being run. And that's not you know, it's not unusual.
- 49:21It's unusual to have a mass resignation like that. It's not unusual to
- 49:25have people that think that maybe it's not whether it's Tyler Mount or any other
- 49:30volunteer fire department or any other organization for that matter, people think that maybe
- 49:34it should be run a little differently, and you know, that's that's kind
- 49:37of what we're looking at now. We want to make sure that the people
- 49:39are protected, that we've got coverage in that area, and then we'll deal
- 49:43with the rest of several other and I mentioned them on the air, so
- 49:45well, the departments kind of stepped up, you know, and since said
- 49:50we we got you, and all, yeah, they did, and and
- 49:52you know, thanks to C. W. Sigmund who was out there working
- 49:54to make sure that we had coverage, mutual aid agreements in place. Anni
- 50:00Rothford over at Metro to make sure that you know, the calls are routed
- 50:02appropriately, so Everything's going to be fine. Any updates on the Capital Sports
- 50:07Center since the last time we talked to her, any of the demolition projects
- 50:10or anything like that. In the closing minute and a half or so long,
- 50:13Yeah, no, dim is coming along. We've got Capital Sports Center
- 50:15meeting today, We've got design meeting, so that is progressing. We've got
- 50:21about seventeen million dollars in earmarks that advanced to the next level. So we're
- 50:27pleased that those were advanced, and you know, looking forward to to getting
- 50:30this thing started and completed real quick. Going back to Judge Kennedy, I
- 50:36have the text here says thirty years ago, the judge was never too busy
- 50:38to stop swimming laps at the rec center in South Charleston to talk to an
- 50:42aspiring lawyer. God bless him and his family. Absolutely he was very personal,
- 50:46just a wonderful, wonderful you all right, what do you got going
- 50:49on out at Shawnee this week? Oh my gosh, what's not going on
- 50:51there? We've got you got to cover it in about a minute sor right.
- 50:53Us YS big tournaments coming in about thirty two million dollars coming in the
- 50:58community over the next few weeks. One hundred and ten teams. President's Cup
- 51:01starts June fourteenth. When is that tomorrow? That's tomorrow, Yeah, tomorrow,
- 51:06So fourteenth through the eighteenth. That's one hundred and ten teams from about
- 51:09fifteen different states. And then the big Daddy comes in, the big tournament.
- 51:14That's the us YS National Championship Series, two hundred and forty three teams
- 51:19June twenty sixth through July third. So you're going to see downtown packed.
- 51:22You're going to see a lot of different communities packed with kids in soccer jerseys.
- 51:25Please be patient, and for all the businesses out there, got to
- 51:29make sure that you've got your food in stock. You know, the first
- 51:32few times we ran these tournaments, everybody was running out of food. So
- 51:35make sure that you've got everything in stock. This is going to be a
- 51:37very busy few weeks. I mean, if you put that and we got
- 51:40festival going on, We've got regatta yakfast, we got Scott coming up here
- 51:45to a couple of weeks. So absolutely a busy time in rickanav Valley.
- 51:49You're never too busy to talk to us, though, Commissioner, I appreciate
- 51:52you being here man, thanks for having me appreciate your County Commissioner Ben Selango
