- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the Coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. OK, so today we are talking
- 0:31about something very interesting that I'm in the midst of with
- 0:37working on launching a new course website.
- 0:40We have our new website up and going.
- 0:42However, we're always tinkering with it.
- 0:45You know, that's that having a growth mindset, you're always
- 0:48tinkering with everything, working on making it better and
- 0:50whatnot. And there is a theory behind
- 0:55when you're tinkering that most of us don't really think about
- 0:58too much. But I want to go over it with
- 1:00you because it's something that I'm really diving into right now
- 1:03and, you know, I love to share this kind of stuff.
- 1:05So as we all know, human beings are extremely complex when it
- 1:09comes down to our emotions and how we act into our emotions.
- 1:14And here's the the, the complexity of it, while it seems
- 1:19like it's very simple when you look at what you're doing in
- 1:22your marketing to people. And everyone else who's
- 1:24listening to me probably is in a place where they're trying to do
- 1:28their own business, working on their own business, building it
- 1:31out, working in a business that they're trying to help build
- 1:35out. We're always marketing
- 1:36ourselves. I mean, here's what's so crazy
- 1:38about it. We want to to remain as human
- 1:42beings safe in that process. We don't want to do something
- 1:45that's going to cause us to jump outside and all of a sudden have
- 1:49this uh oh moment where we all go, oh, shouldn't have done
- 1:52that. Shouldn't have done that because
- 1:54guess what? That's a bad situation for all
- 1:57of us. If we're in the spot of working
- 1:59for someone else, especially, but for ourselves.
- 2:01We don't want to put ourselves to this place of like that was a
- 2:05mistake. I'm going to lose business
- 2:06because of that. Well, why is that the case?
- 2:10Because we have this struggle where we're both what's called
- 2:13neophilic and neophobic. Now, very big fancy words, but
- 2:17guess what? Very simple meanings.
- 2:19When you're neophilic, you want things to be new.
- 2:22You want new things to come in. You want them to be bright and
- 2:26shiny and exciting. And at the same time, neophobic
- 2:29is. We want them to be the same.
- 2:31We want them to be safe. And we can be skeptical of
- 2:34things that are not appearing to be that way.
- 2:37So we are in a constant conundrum as to how do we market
- 2:41ourselves, How do we go out there, How do we become a hit,
- 2:44so to speak, when we know the majority of human beings, like
- 2:4999% of human beings have this wiring.
- 2:52So what do we do? How do we get around that for
- 2:55ourselves? And in order to create something
- 2:58like that, you have to be able to do something that serves both
- 3:03well. Doesn't that sound quite
- 3:04impossible? It, it really does.
- 3:06It sounds quite impossible. And it, it, and you look at it
- 3:10and you go, oh, well, guess what, I'm out.
- 3:12I don't even know where to begin with this.
- 3:14But not necessary. You can actually do this by
- 3:17there. There was a term back in the
- 3:1950s, there was a designer that went to New York City and he, he
- 3:24was a landscape designer and he went in and he was absolutely
- 3:28taken back by how grungy the city was at that time.
- 3:32And he just couldn't get over how it appeared.
- 3:35So in the following years, his he was charged with making this
- 3:40appear better write everything like write skyscrapers down to
- 3:44the, they wanted it cleaned up, taken care of, but he had to be
- 3:48charged with this. And what do you do without
- 3:50upsetting everybody who's used to it the way that it is?
- 3:53How do you go about it? Well, the story goes that he had
- 3:57this of this rule that he created called Maya Maya, and it
- 4:02stands for most advanced yet acceptable.
- 4:05And it's the middle of the road where you can go right to the
- 4:09edge, but it's still acceptable for people to see it.
- 4:13So when you're coming up with your ideas and you're trying to
- 4:16market yourself or your product or whatever you're doing, this
- 4:19is a theory that says I'm going to go right to the edge, but I'm
- 4:22going to make sure. So right now we're on the cusp
- 4:24of all of this AI and a lot of people are playing with the AI
- 4:29videos of themselves and, you know, there are a lot of people
- 4:34that are not comfortable with this.
- 4:35So as we were working on stuff for the course and going through
- 4:39things, I was like, you know what, I'm happy to put the
- 4:42course out there. I'm happy to do all the things
- 4:45with, you know, that we can. But we do not use AI to write
- 4:49and we do not use AI to record. For us, that is the rule.
- 4:53So I am walking that fine line in this process where I will use
- 4:58AI to help me do research for sure.
- 5:00That's how I found out about this because I was curious about
- 5:03it and started going through it, talking to you about this
- 5:06subject today I did some AI research for this and I, I,
- 5:11because I was like, OK, what is this?
- 5:12What is the challenge? What are the things I need to
- 5:14pay attention to? And it came up with something
- 5:16that was really great. And I was like, ah, This is why
- 5:19it feels so strange and weird. But the point of today is pick
- 5:24the things that you can do to help yourself along the way that
- 5:28are still out there, that look like you're making advances but
- 5:32are still comfortable for people.
- 5:33Like I can promise you, I will not be using AI videos.
- 5:37I will not be doing filters on things.
- 5:40I stay to that because I want everyone to know that we are as
- 5:44authentic as you can get when it comes to this stuff.
- 5:47And I think it's important for everybody to understand that you
- 5:50can walk those lines for yourselves as well.
- 5:53OK, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and go out there
- 5:56and Maya it all and see what's in it for you and how you can
- 6:02make yourself grow and still feel good about it.
- 6:04All right, my friends, have a blessed day and I'll see you
- 6:06tomorrow. Bye.
