- 0:00Speaker 1: The Mark Simonia onr Well, the great Monica Crowley. You know,
- 0:06Speaker 1: I knew her when she was just Monica Crowley, best
- 0:08Speaker 1: selling off their radio TV star. Now she's the ambassador,
- 0:12Speaker 1: she's the Chief of Protocol of the United States of
- 0:16Speaker 1: America and she's with us now. Monica Crowley, how you doing.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hey, Mark, Always great to be with you.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Yeah, boy, are you ever coming back? We miss you?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Well. I miss New York too, although I have to
- 0:31Speaker 2: tell you that I was at the next game on
- 0:33Speaker 2: Monday night. Yeah, and it was really I mean, it
- 0:36Speaker 2: was an unfortunate outcome, although look at what they did
- 0:39Speaker 2: on Wednesday night, so it's absolutely incredible. But to be
- 0:42Speaker 2: back in New York City with the electricity around the
- 0:44Speaker 2: Knicks unbelievable. I do miss it.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Yeah, well, we miss you. Hey. What a weekend you
- 0:50Speaker 1: got coming up here at the White House. Tell her
- 0:53Speaker 1: how many things are going on? You got the UFC
- 0:55Speaker 1: fight and tell us about the busy weekend there.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Yes. For really the next six weeks, going through mid
- 1:04Speaker 2: July and actually well into August, the United States of America,
- 1:08Speaker 2: Mark is going to be the center of the universe
- 1:11Speaker 2: because we are heading into America's two hundred and fiftieth birthday,
- 1:15Speaker 2: and we have tremendous celebrations that are all teed up
- 1:19Speaker 2: and ready to go. Everything is open to the public,
- 1:22Speaker 2: free of charge. I'm going to get to July fourth
- 1:25Speaker 2: here in a minute, but you mentioned the UFC fight. Yes,
- 1:28Speaker 2: that is happening on the White House South Lawn on
- 1:30Speaker 2: Sunday this weekend, June fourteenth. It happens to be Flag
- 1:35Speaker 2: Day for the United States. It also happens to be
- 1:38Speaker 2: President Trump's eightieth birthday, although I'm sure he doesn't want
- 1:42Speaker 2: to mention the number, but it will be a birthday
- 1:45Speaker 2: celebration for him. We've got Dana White, We've got the UFC,
- 1:48Speaker 2: and it's all in celebration of America's big birthday.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll be amazing. So two hundred and fiftieth Birthday
- 1:56Speaker 1: of America. I'm trying to remember two hundred that's when
- 2:01Speaker 1: they did those bi centennial moments on TV. But that
- 2:04Speaker 1: was nothing like this. This is a much much bigger celebration.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Well, fifty years ago was the bi centennial nineteen seventy six,
- 2:11Speaker 2: and the country was really a lit with patriotic fervor,
- 2:16Speaker 2: and everybody had the patriotic spirit, and I do remember
- 2:20Speaker 2: being a very very little girl mark down the Jersey
- 2:24Speaker 2: Shore with my mom, my dad, my sister. And while
- 2:27Speaker 2: I don't remember everything that happened in nineteen seventy six,
- 2:31Speaker 2: like what President Ford was doing and his speech to
- 2:34Speaker 2: the nation and all of that, I do remember being
- 2:37Speaker 2: down LBI having a sparkler in one hand and a
- 2:41Speaker 2: little American flag in the other. That kind of indelible
- 2:45Speaker 2: feeling of patriotism and love of country is what was
- 2:50Speaker 2: instilled in me that day, and I know for millions
- 2:53Speaker 2: of other Americans that is exactly the kind of patriotic
- 2:57Speaker 2: feeling that we are trying to recreate for American It's
- 3:00Speaker 2: two hundred and fiftieth, So we've got a couple of
- 3:02Speaker 2: really big things planned Mark. In addition to UFC happening
- 3:07Speaker 2: this weekend, starting on June twenty fifth on the National Mall,
- 3:11Speaker 2: we are going to be launching the Great American State Fair.
- 3:15Speaker 2: All fifty states and six territories will be represented on
- 3:19Speaker 2: the National Mall with their own pavilions about what makes
- 3:23Speaker 2: each state great, including New York and New Jersey, so
- 3:27Speaker 2: many others, all kinds of blue ribbon competitions. We're going
- 3:32Speaker 2: to have for the very first time, a one hundred
- 3:35Speaker 2: and ten foot ferris wheel on the National Mall, so
- 3:37Speaker 2: you can go all the way up mark and see
- 3:41Speaker 2: the beauty, the cleanliness, the safety of our nation's capital
- 3:44Speaker 2: thanks to President Trump, from the ferris wheel, all kinds
- 3:49Speaker 2: of performances, rodeo performances, three times a day. It is
- 3:54Speaker 2: going to be a world's fair on the National Mall.
- 3:57Speaker 2: It's going to run for sixteen days through to so
- 4:01Speaker 2: please come down and see it.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, the Morning Joe CNN types, I'm
- 4:06Speaker 1: not going to like this. They don't like celebrating rodeos.
- 4:10Speaker 1: It's too Middle America for them. You know, many of
- 4:12Speaker 1: these Beltweit people, the elite Northeast, they've never seen any
- 4:17Speaker 1: of this state fair stuff. It's all foreign to them.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So it's good that they'll see it.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Well, if you're talking about like the Blue Coast people
- 4:25Speaker 2: who are are part of the problem, then no. But
- 4:28Speaker 2: what we're doing is a true celebration of all of America.
- 4:32Speaker 2: And just like in nineteen seventy six when we were
- 4:34Speaker 2: coming off of Vietnam and Watergate in the country had
- 4:37Speaker 2: deep divisions. We have deep divisions now, but just as
- 4:41Speaker 2: fifty years ago, this celebration of America is going to
- 4:45Speaker 2: unite the American people around our shared values, our shared
- 4:50Speaker 2: sense of patriotism, and a renewed sense of civic pride.
- 4:54Speaker 2: And of course the ten Pole event mark is going
- 4:56Speaker 2: to be on July fourth. I want to mention two
- 4:58Speaker 2: quick things here. I know you're sitting in New York City.
- 5:02Speaker 2: New York is going to be hosting an international naval review,
- 5:07Speaker 2: including a massive parade of gorgeous tall ships. We did
- 5:12Speaker 2: this fifty years ago. We're doing it again around the
- 5:15Speaker 2: Statue of Liberty, New York, Harver and then up the
- 5:17Speaker 2: Hudson River with about thirty five countries represented with gorgeous
- 5:23Speaker 2: tall ships. That is starting on July fourth at ten am.
- 5:26Speaker 2: So please get out, get to the river, get your
- 5:29Speaker 2: place early and really watch this beautiful thing unfold. Such
- 5:34Speaker 2: a gorgeous celebration. And then later that night, of course,
- 5:38Speaker 2: New York is going to have its celebration, the big
- 5:41Speaker 2: national celebration, the Salute to America, is going to take
- 5:44Speaker 2: place on the National Mall, and it is going to
- 5:47Speaker 2: feature headline performances, the story of America, gorgeous graphics, and
- 5:53Speaker 2: of course because it's President Trump who requested the biggest
- 5:58Speaker 2: and greatest firework display in the history of the country.
- 6:02Speaker 2: We are going to set off eight hundred and sixty
- 6:05Speaker 2: thousand fireworks over the National Ball the biggest, I think
- 6:09Speaker 2: in the history of the world. So to celebrate America. Yeah,
- 6:13Speaker 2: So if you can come out for New York celebration,
- 6:16Speaker 2: come down to DC for the big salute to America.
- 6:19Speaker 2: It is going to be the grandest celebration in the
- 6:22Speaker 2: history of our country.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Wow. Now, of course, if you can't be there, it'll
- 6:25Speaker 1: be televised. Obviously, we can be able to watch it.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And yes, of course we've got broadcast partners across the
- 6:32Speaker 2: country who are going to be picking this up. And
- 6:34Speaker 2: if you're listening to us from other parts of America
- 6:37Speaker 2: or even around the world, we are having a truly
- 6:40Speaker 2: global celebration, including activations to celebrate America's two hundred and
- 6:45Speaker 2: fiftieth around the world, with all of our partners and
- 6:49Speaker 2: allies around the world lighting up their countries in red,
- 6:53Speaker 2: white and blue to help us celebrate. Every state in
- 6:56Speaker 2: America also has our own celebrations planned and I'm sure
- 7:00Speaker 2: or most communities around the country will have the same plans.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I see in certain communities in New Jersey, they've already
- 7:09Speaker 2: painted the crosswalks red, white and blue. So we are
- 7:12Speaker 2: all getting into the spirit mark. And I encourage everybody
- 7:15Speaker 2: to get involved in their communities or come out in
- 7:18Speaker 2: New York City, come out of Washington, d C. And
- 7:21Speaker 2: really help us celebrate the most exceptional country in the
- 7:25Speaker 2: history of the world.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Wow. Sounds amazing now, Monica Crowley, she's the Chief of
- 7:29Speaker 1: Protocol in the United States. Tough part of your job.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I see you do this all the time. When a
- 7:33Speaker 1: world leader comes to see the President, the first meeting
- 7:35Speaker 1: is with you. I seem they come into the room
- 7:37Speaker 1: with you. So you talk to every world leader. When
- 7:40Speaker 1: you suddenly alone with the president of Finland or someplace,
- 7:44Speaker 1: what do you talk to them about?
- 7:47Speaker 2: Well, it's you know, it's my job is based in diplomacy. Obviously,
- 7:52Speaker 2: I am an ambassador, senate confirmed, so I do have
- 7:56Speaker 2: the constitutional authority to speak on behalf of the President,
- 8:00Speaker 2: vice President, and the Secretary of State, and I take
- 8:02Speaker 2: that responsibility very seriously. So my job is to not
- 8:07Speaker 2: pass judgment on any of these leaders, whether it's she's
- 8:10Speaker 2: in ping of China, Vladimir Putin of Russia, the president
- 8:13Speaker 2: of Finland. As you mentioned, my job is to make
- 8:16Speaker 2: sure that my team and I and I've got an
- 8:18Speaker 2: extraordinary team. They're so committed and dedicated. They do a
- 8:22Speaker 2: tremendous job. What we do is create the most amenable
- 8:29Speaker 2: environment for the most effective and robust diplomacy to take place.
- 8:33Speaker 2: So we make sure that the president has what he
- 8:36Speaker 2: needs to do his job well. And we also make
- 8:39Speaker 2: sure that the world leader and his or her delegation
- 8:43Speaker 2: have what they need to do their job well. So
- 8:46Speaker 2: when I'm alone with these world leaders, Mark, I talk
- 8:48Speaker 2: to them about their trip. I make some nice small
- 8:52Speaker 2: talk if they want to talk little policy. That's also
- 8:56Speaker 2: my background, so I'm always happy to do that, but
- 8:59Speaker 2: always with to I am representing the President of the
- 9:02Speaker 2: United States and the American people, and I do it
- 9:05Speaker 2: so proudly and with so much love for my country.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Well, it's a fascinating job. I mean, what a great
- 9:13Speaker 1: job you've done with all of this, And we miss
- 9:16Speaker 1: you in New York. I wish you'd come back, but
- 9:18Speaker 1: we need you in Washington right now. It's great to
- 9:21Speaker 1: talk to you, and Monica Crowley will do it again soon.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Thanks for the.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Update always a pleasure, Mark, Thank.
- 9:26Speaker 1: You, all right, take care. Hey, everybody follow her on
- 9:30Speaker 1: Instagram and Twitter and all that. There's great, great stuff
- 9:33Speaker 1: up there from Monica Crowley and don't forget. At noon,
- 9:37Speaker 1: Buck Sexton and Clay Travis will be here with an
- 9:40Speaker 1: excellent show. And then you got the most listened to
- 9:43Speaker 1: radio show in America at three o'clock, Sean Hannity. He
- 9:46Speaker 1: got Jesse Kelly at six, and you know, Jimmy Fail
- 9:49Speaker 1: is now here every night nine to midnight. You should
- 9:51Speaker 1: be listening. It's a great show, very funny, every night
- 9:54Speaker 1: at nine. On seven to ten, wor
