- 2:46to tell them. Sunny mornings send you. In local
- 2:51news, this week brought several new developments
- 2:54in the Karen Reed civil case. The family of John
- 2:59O 'Keefe is looking to add attorney Bebe Fell
- 3:01from California to their legal team. Fell requires
- 3:06a judge's approval to practice law in Massachusetts.
- 3:10Earlier this year, Reed was acquitted of killing
- 3:12O 'Keefe in a highly publicized trial. However,
- 3:16the O 'Keeffe family's wrongful death suit against
- 3:19Reed remains pending. A status hearing is scheduled
- 3:23for November 21st, while Reed plans her own counter
- 3:27suit. As commentator Sue O 'Connell notes, the
- 3:31drama continues, and it's very complicated. Now
- 3:39onto sports. The Dodgers' ace, Blake Snell. overwhelmed
- 3:45the Milwaukee Brewers for eight innings, and
- 3:47first baseman Freddie Freeman added another postseason
- 3:50homer to his Hall of Fame resume, as the Dodgers
- 3:54survived a shaky ninth inning to capture a 2
- 3:57-1 victory in game one of the National League
- 3:59Championship Series on Monday at American Family
- 4:03Field. Snell faced the minimum while allowing
- 4:07one hit and striking out a postseason career
- 4:10-high 10 batters. The Brewers executed an impressive
- 4:14double play in the fourth inning, showcasing
- 4:17their defensive capabilities. Manager Pat Murphy
- 4:21downplayed recent struggles of reliever Aaron
- 4:24Ashby, emphasizing his solid regular season performance.
- 4:29This series will test Milwaukee's ability to
- 4:31create pressure against a dominant Dodgers rotation.
- 4:35And last night on Monday Night Football, the
- 4:39Bills lost to the Falcons in Atlanta. 24 to 14,
- 4:43Josh Allen was 15 for 26, with 180 passing yards,
- 4:49two passing touchdowns, and two interceptions.
- 4:54Michael Pinnix Jr. was 20 for 32, with 250 passing
- 4:58yards, one passing touchdown, and no interceptions.
- 5:03And in game two, the Bears beat the Commanders
- 5:06in Washington, 25 to 24. Caleb Williams was 17
- 5:12for 29, with 252 passing yards, one passing touchdown,
- 5:18one rushing touchdown, and no interceptions.
- 5:22Jaden Daniels was 19 for 26, with 211 passing
- 5:27yards, three passing touchdowns, and one interception.
- 5:33In local sports, is Drake May a legitimate most
- 5:37valuable player contender? Before the NFL season
- 5:41began, the hype surrounded Josh Allen, Patrick
- 5:44Mahomes, and Joe Burrow. Fast forward six weeks,
- 5:48and May has led the New England Patriots to a
- 5:514 -2 record, their best start since 2019. The
- 5:56second -year quarterback ranks second in completion
- 5:59percentage, fourth in passer rating, and fifth
- 6:02in passing yards. May has seen his MVP odds skyrocket
- 6:07from plus 6 ,600 to plus 2 ,000, making him a
- 6:12strong candidate this season. His performance
- 6:15continues to impress, even without a strong record.
- 6:20In top news, the world's coral reefs are dying
- 6:24and will continue to unless global temperatures
- 6:27drop significantly. Our report published today
- 6:30says that the Earth has passed its first climate
- 6:33tipping point. The University of Exeter found
- 6:36that warm water coral reefs are passing their
- 6:39tipping point due to rising ocean temperatures,
- 6:42acidification, overfishing, and pollution. Din
- 6:46Lenton, founding director at the Global Systems
- 6:49Institute, stated, we are in a new climate reality.
- 6:54He warned that crossing the 1 .5 degrees Celsius
- 6:57threshold within the next five years could lead
- 7:00to more extreme weather and food production strains.
- 7:05Scientists have identified as many as 25 major
- 7:08tipping points, including the transformation
- 7:11of the Amazon rainforest and polar ice melting.
- 7:15The authors of the report emphasize the urgent
- 7:17need for action to avoid this fate. In business
- 7:22news, Derek Tharp, an associate professor of
- 7:26finance at the University of Southern Maine,
- 7:29argues that delaying social security benefits
- 7:32may not make sense for everyone. While economists
- 7:35recommend waiting until age 70 for maximum benefits,
- 7:40only 10 % of Americans actually do so. Many retirees
- 7:45claim benefits at age 62 or before their full
- 7:49retirement age. Delaying can risk lost income
- 7:52if one dies earlier than expected, or if market
- 7:56downturns occur. Additionally, retirees may spend
- 8:00less from their portfolios due to behavioral
- 8:02tendencies, which can lead to underspending and
- 8:05reduced enjoyment. Considering these factors,
- 8:09claiming social security earlier may be a viable
- 8:11strategy. In crypto movement, Bitcoin is down
- 8:161%. to about $113 ,000. Ethereum is unchanged
- 8:24at about $4 ,100. And XRP is unchanged at $2
- 8:30.55. Moving on to a more local vibe. In our community
- 8:37spotlight on health and wellness, we are working
- 8:40with a national Pilates studio to bring you some

- 9:02benefits. So now you can check out Club Pilates
- 9:06for a free class. With locations in Canton, Wellesley,
- 9:10Hingham, Brookline, and Framingham, just be sure
- 9:14to tell them... Sunny mornings sent you by. And
- 9:18now, back to the show. Let's talk science. SpaceX's
- 9:24satellites are falling from the sky every single
- 9:27day. If Starlink continues scaling up operations,
- 9:31there could be as many as five of these satellites
- 9:34raining down on us daily. Starlink satellites
- 9:38in low Earth orbit are de -orbiting and falling
- 9:41to Earth at the rate of one to two per day. Debris
- 9:45from rockets and satellites contains metal particles
- 9:48that could deplete the ozone layer. Smithsonian
- 9:52astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell tracks everything
- 9:55that goes up and comes down. These satellites
- 9:59only have a lifespan of five to seven years,
- 10:02which is why McDowell sees a future of falling
- 10:05Starlink spacecraft. NOAA researchers found an
- 10:09unexpected density of metal particles in the
- 10:11stratosphere, and we do not yet know how safe
- 10:14these are. And in entertainment news, Rajesh
- 10:21Mappaskar, the Indian national film award -winning
- 10:24director behind Ventilator and Ferrari Ki Sawari,
- 10:28has been chosen to direct Chiranjeeve Hanuman,
- 10:32The Eternal, which is billed as one of India's
- 10:34first theatrical films created using generative
- 10:37artificial intelligence technology. The Hindi
- 10:41language project chronicles the tale of Hindu
- 10:44god, Lord Hanuman, and is being produced by Vikram
- 10:48Malhotra's, Avantantia Entertainment, and Collective
- 10:51Media Network's Historyverse. Slated for worldwide
- 10:56release on Hanuman Jayanti in 2026, the film
- 10:59aims to redefine storytelling through technology.
- 11:03Mapuskar expressed excitement about embracing
- 11:06innovation while honoring India's spiritual heritage.
- 11:11This project poses significant questions about
- 11:14the role of artificial intelligence in filmmaking.
- 11:19Well, all righty, folks. It's time for the quote
- 11:21of the day. And today, our quote comes from the
- 11:26American aviator and author, Anne -Marie Lindbergh.
- 11:30And she said, To anywhere that is, you must begin
- 11:35by knowing that you have already arrived. And
- 11:39that's a wrap for this morning. You can check
- 11:43out our Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok for some
- 11:46captivating aerial videos with local news and
- 11:50the weather reports. Have an amazing day, my
- 11:53good friends. We'll see you tomorrow with another
- 11:56episode of Sunny Mornings in Boston.
