- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and story along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. Now, if
- 1:11Speaker 1: you miss a portion of today's broadcast or would like
- 1:13Speaker 1: to recommend it to a friend, you can hear this
- 1:16Speaker 1: program anytime online at Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now
- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:24Speaker 2: But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each
- 1:28Speaker 2: one for the profit of all. For to one is
- 1:31Speaker 2: given the word of wisdom through the spirit to another,
- 1:34Speaker 2: the word of knowledge through the same spirit to another,
- 1:38Speaker 2: Faith by the same spirit to another, gifts of healings
- 1:42Speaker 2: by the same spirit to another, the working of miracles
- 1:47Speaker 2: to another, prophecy to another, discerning of spirits to another,
- 1:52Speaker 2: different kinds of tongues to another, the interpretation of tongues
- 1:58Speaker 2: but one and the same spirit works all these things,
- 2:03Speaker 2: distributing to each one individually as he wills again. First Corinthians,
- 2:11Speaker 2: Chapter twelve, verses seven to eleven. We are coming to
- 2:19Speaker 2: the close of our study of the nine gifts of
- 2:24Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit. The two remaining gifts have sometimes been
- 2:30Speaker 2: utilized by many as not necessary in the body of Christ. Now,
- 2:40Speaker 2: if any of the gifts of the Holy Spirit are
- 2:44Speaker 2: no longer necessary, then the Holy Spirit must reveal that
- 2:50Speaker 2: according to God's word. If you are told that the
- 2:57Speaker 2: gifts of healing are no longer effective, that is contrary
- 3:03Speaker 2: to God's word. If you are told that the gifts
- 3:06Speaker 2: of prophecy are no longer effective, that is also contrary
- 3:14Speaker 2: to God's word. How can we pick or choose which
- 3:19Speaker 2: of these gifts we feel will be useful for us today?
- 3:27Speaker 2: And so, as we study the remaining two manifested gifts,
- 3:33Speaker 2: they are referred to as different kinds of tongues or languages.
- 3:40Speaker 2: The word that is used when we discuss languages is
- 3:46Speaker 2: a word that is from the Greek, which is referred
- 3:52Speaker 2: to as glossa leliev. That particular meaning is translated languages.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Now I have to bring into this discussion what it
- 4:08Speaker 2: means by the gift of different kinds of tongues or languages.
- 4:15Speaker 2: The gift of tongues is simply the Holy Spirit giving
- 4:21Speaker 2: us the supernatural ability to speak in a foreign language
- 4:28Speaker 2: that we do not have knowledge of, or the ability
- 4:34Speaker 2: to speak in on our own. In other words, we
- 4:38Speaker 2: have not been taught that language. There are many people
- 4:43Speaker 2: in this world who are multi lingual. That simply means
- 4:49Speaker 2: they are able to speak and they are able to
- 4:55Speaker 2: interpret many languages. They have been taught these languages. But
- 5:02Speaker 2: what we are referring to are languages that exist that
- 5:07Speaker 2: are not taught. And these types fall into two categories.
- 5:15Speaker 2: So let's discuss The first one is a language of
- 5:20Speaker 2: this earth. It's a language that you, as an individual
- 5:27Speaker 2: who has not been trained, can fluently speak a message
- 5:34Speaker 2: from God in that language. For example, if you are
- 5:41Speaker 2: a native English speaker but you have not been taught
- 5:46Speaker 2: how to speak Chinese or Mandarin or Japanese, but suddenly
- 5:52Speaker 2: you are able to bring about a message in that language,
- 5:59Speaker 2: that would be an operation of the gift of different
- 6:05Speaker 2: kinds of tongues. Now, there is also another type of language,
- 6:15Speaker 2: not talk, but it is a language that is directly
- 6:20Speaker 2: from God the Father through the Holy Spirit. To you,
- 6:25Speaker 2: and this is referred to as a heavenly language. It's
- 6:31Speaker 2: not of this earth. It's not spoken on this earth.
- 6:36Speaker 2: The Bible tells us in one Corinthians thirteen that there
- 6:42Speaker 2: are languages of angels. In either event, the language will
- 6:49Speaker 2: be foreign to us. We will not be able to
- 6:53Speaker 2: speak it on our own. Only the Holy Spirit's supernatural
- 6:59Speaker 2: ability to transmit this language from us will give us
- 7:05Speaker 2: the ability to speak this language at all. Whatever language
- 7:12Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit gives you, you'll be able to use
- 7:15Speaker 2: it twenty four to seven whenever you want. It will
- 7:21Speaker 2: be your own personal, private prayer language between you and
- 7:26Speaker 2: the Lord. Now Here, we're speaking of not a known language.
- 7:33Speaker 2: We are speaking of a language given to us by
- 7:38Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit, and the reason is so that God
- 7:43Speaker 2: will communicate directly to us, so that we will know
- 7:49Speaker 2: the mysteries that God is revealing. The only problem with
- 7:54Speaker 2: this gift is that for the most part, you will
- 7:59Speaker 2: not God necessarily know or understand what you are praying
- 8:05Speaker 2: about when you use this gift. The Bible tells us
- 8:11Speaker 2: that we will be speaking out mysteries, and only God
- 8:17Speaker 2: the Father and the Holy Spirit will be the one
- 8:21Speaker 2: knowing exactly what our prayer is about. In some cases,
- 8:27Speaker 2: it will actually interpret that prayer to us. So if
- 8:33Speaker 2: we will not know exactly what we're praying about when
- 8:37Speaker 2: we use the gift of different kinds of tongues tongues
- 8:42Speaker 2: of angels, let's say, then why would God even want
- 8:47Speaker 2: us to have this kind of gift in the first place. Well,
- 8:51Speaker 2: one of the reasons is that we are shown sometimes
- 8:57Speaker 2: we don't know what to pray for as we should.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Sometimes we'll just be able to find the right words
- 9:07Speaker 2: using our own personal prayers to the Lord, and it
- 9:11Speaker 2: will be in our own natural imperfections. And yet God
- 9:16Speaker 2: will actually allow us to communicate with Him. But in
- 9:21Speaker 2: other cases he will intercede for us. And this is
- 9:27Speaker 2: the verse that shows us sometimes we will not know
- 9:32Speaker 2: how to pray as we should. We all need the
- 9:37Speaker 2: Holy Spirit to come and help us out in our
- 9:41Speaker 2: own personal prayer life with God the Father, and the
- 9:46Speaker 2: verse is in Romans eight, verse twenty six. Likewise, the
- 9:51Speaker 2: Holy Spirit also helps in our weaknesses, for we do
- 9:56Speaker 2: not know what we should pray for as we should,
- 10:00Speaker 2: But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings
- 10:07Speaker 2: which cannot be uttered. The Holy Spirit is the master
- 10:13Speaker 2: prayer giver to God the Father, and as such he
- 10:19Speaker 2: can allow us to have direct access into his personal
- 10:25Speaker 2: prayer life. With God the Father, he seeks the deep
- 10:30Speaker 2: things of God. In other words, he's asking us to
- 10:36Speaker 2: play a part and to share with him on this
- 10:40Speaker 2: direct personal prayer to God the Father. Now, even though
- 10:46Speaker 2: you may not know what you're praying about when you
- 10:51Speaker 2: actually pray it, but you will have the honor and
- 10:56Speaker 2: privilege of being able to pray directly to God the
- 11:01Speaker 2: Father with the Holy Spirit. Since the Holy Spirit knows
- 11:07Speaker 2: how to present a perfect prayer to God the Father,
- 11:11Speaker 2: then you can actually pray in the same perfect prayer.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Another reason that you will want this gift is for
- 11:21Speaker 2: emergency type of situations. There are many testimonies where you
- 11:27Speaker 2: perhaps have seen or read that the Holy Spirit will
- 11:32Speaker 2: suddenly prompt someone to start praying in a language that
- 11:38Speaker 2: they do not know, and then later on that person
- 11:43Speaker 2: finds out that the prayer they were praying would actually
- 11:49Speaker 2: save someone else's life. Since the Holy Spirit is God
- 11:56Speaker 2: and the Lord himself, this means he can pray perfectly
- 12:00Speaker 2: see into the future, and if he sees a fatal
- 12:04Speaker 2: accident getting ready to occur, he can prompt you to
- 12:08Speaker 2: start praying in that language to God so that it
- 12:12Speaker 2: will stop the impending tragedy from occurring. We don't have
- 12:17Speaker 2: any idea how many lives may have actually been saved,
- 12:22Speaker 2: and that we have been instrumental in providing that means
- 12:28Speaker 2: of help by allowing God to render this gift operational
- 12:35Speaker 2: in our lives. It is the Holy Spirit that will
- 12:40Speaker 2: prompt us to do it. This gift cannot only be
- 12:44Speaker 2: used to save your own personal life from impending disaster,
- 12:49Speaker 2: but it can also be used to save the lives
- 12:53Speaker 2: of others who may be very close to you, such
- 12:57Speaker 2: as your immediate family members, are most friends, are coworkers.
- 13:02Speaker 2: For the most part, the gift of tongues or languages
- 13:07Speaker 2: will be used as your own personal, private prayer language
- 13:12Speaker 2: between you and the Lord. If it is done in
- 13:17Speaker 2: a church setting or a gathering of several people by someone,
- 13:23Speaker 2: then there should be someone who will have the interpretation
- 13:29Speaker 2: of that tongue or language. Otherwise no one will know
- 13:35Speaker 2: what that person is praying about, and it will not
- 13:38Speaker 2: be able to edify the body in the setting that
- 13:43Speaker 2: it is occurring. Now, there are other verses on the
- 13:48Speaker 2: gift of tongues. This is one found in One Corinthians
- 13:53Speaker 2: fourteen to two. For he who speaks in a tongue
- 13:57Speaker 2: does not speak to men but to God, for no
- 14:00Speaker 2: one understands him. However, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
- 14:06Speaker 2: First Corinthians fourteen five says, I wish you all spoke
- 14:11Speaker 2: with tongues, but even more that you prophesied, For he
- 14:16Speaker 2: who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues,
- 14:20Speaker 2: unless indeed he interprets that the church may receive edification.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Also First Corinthians fourteen, verses thirteen to fourteen, Therefore, let
- 14:34Speaker 2: him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.
- 14:39Speaker 2: For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays,
- 14:43Speaker 2: but my understanding is unfruitful. And here in one Corinthians
- 14:49Speaker 2: thirteen one, though I speak with tongues of men and angels,
- 14:55Speaker 2: both learned and unlearned languages, but have not loved, I
- 15:01Speaker 2: have become as sounding brass or a clanging symbol. One
- 15:07Speaker 2: Corinthians fourteen twenty two. Therefore, tongues are for a sign,
- 15:13Speaker 2: not to those who believe, but to unbelievers. And First
- 15:18Speaker 2: Corinthians fourteen thirty nine through forty. Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly
- 15:26Speaker 2: to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Let all things be done decently and in order. Notice
- 15:38Speaker 2: in the first verse that it is telling you that
- 15:41Speaker 2: you are speaking mysteries when you are praying in your
- 15:45Speaker 2: heavenly language. The fourth verse that we covered tells you
- 15:50Speaker 2: that your tongue will either be from men or angels,
- 15:57Speaker 2: which means that it will either be a language of
- 16:01Speaker 2: this earth or a language direct from Heaven. Notice that
- 16:07Speaker 2: in the third verse, the apostle Paul is telling us
- 16:11Speaker 2: that we can pray to interpret our own unspoken or
- 16:17Speaker 2: spoken tongue so that you can understand what you're praying about.
- 16:23Speaker 2: That will lead us right into the next gift, which
- 16:28Speaker 2: is the interpretation of tongues. Also, notice that when you
- 16:35Speaker 2: are praying in your heavenly language, that you are praying
- 16:41Speaker 2: out of your spirit, not out of your mind. You
- 16:45Speaker 2: are also praying in the Holy Spirit when you are
- 16:48Speaker 2: praying in your own language. With our inability to be
- 16:55Speaker 2: perfect prayer warriors with God the Father, this one gift
- 17:00Speaker 2: will give you, the children of God what you need
- 17:06Speaker 2: when you yourself want to pray directly to God. But
- 17:12Speaker 2: you find yourself falling short in how you want to
- 17:17Speaker 2: pray or what you want to pray about, you can
- 17:21Speaker 2: just simply go into your gift of tongues with the
- 17:25Speaker 2: Holy Spirit and then end up giving God a perfect
- 17:30Speaker 2: prayer since the prayer will come directly from the Holy
- 17:35Speaker 2: Spirit himself.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 17:41Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to

- 18:18Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 18:22Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 18:27Speaker 2: This is a very powerful prayer tool to have in
- 18:30Speaker 2: your own arsenal. Since you are opening yourself up directly
- 18:35Speaker 2: to the Holy Spirit and his ability to perfectly pray
- 18:40Speaker 2: to God the Father, you are joining forces with the
- 18:45Speaker 2: third person of the Trinity, who is God and Lord himself,
- 18:50Speaker 2: the master of prayer and intercessor with God the Father.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Meditate on this mind blowing reality and then see if
- 19:01Speaker 2: you will not want to go to God the Father
- 19:05Speaker 2: and ask him to release this powerful gift to you
- 19:10Speaker 2: through the Holy Spirit. And that is today's Reflection on
- 19:16Speaker 2: the Word.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 19:21Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Work with
