- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Everybody welcome to move the sticks DJ and Bucky together today.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Rhett is Bucky's having some issues with the power at
- 0:15Speaker 1: his house, So no rhet today, which is a good
- 0:17Speaker 1: thing because he smoked us in the rookie draft this
- 0:20Speaker 1: last week.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Oh he did. Oh that's not good. Yeah, at least
- 0:24Speaker 2: we don't have to hear him glow, so that's okay.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, that ended up being a blessing. Hopefully
- 0:29Speaker 1: everything's okay at the house and we'll get to the
- 0:32Speaker 1: We're gonna have a rookie draft again. He's given his
- 0:34Speaker 1: board to our producer Drew, so we're gonna still have
- 0:37Speaker 1: our rookie draft for this next week. We'll give him
- 0:39Speaker 1: his flowers, but we don't need to spend too much
- 0:41Speaker 1: time on that. In just a little bit, as we
- 0:43Speaker 1: get things started. Right now, Buck, it's time for the
- 0:46Speaker 1: Monday Night recap and a game that was I would say,
- 0:50Speaker 1: you know, pretty ugly at least from the Raiders side
- 0:53Speaker 1: of things. But let's start positively. Let's start with the
- 0:55Speaker 1: Detroit Lions, coming off a tough loss against the Ravens.
- 0:58Speaker 1: They bounce back in a big way twenty six to fourteen.
- 1:01Speaker 1: As the final it looked like they kind of righted
- 1:03Speaker 1: the ship in Detroit.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Yeah, the absolutely rights of the ship. Played well on
- 1:07Speaker 3: both sides of the ball. Really impressed with what they
- 1:09Speaker 3: were able to do offensively. Jamier Gibb stepped up replacing
- 1:13Speaker 3: David Montgomery. He's beginning to kind of come into his
- 1:15Speaker 3: own as one of those feature playmakers on offense.
- 1:19Speaker 2: And then Jerry Golf and I'm on Saint Brown.
- 1:21Speaker 3: We're beginning to see that connection with Jameson Williams and
- 1:24Speaker 3: Sam Laporter. Offensively, Man, they have everything that you could
- 1:27Speaker 3: wish for as an offensive coordinated, big, physical offensive line,
- 1:31Speaker 3: and whenever this game got tight, they were able to
- 1:34Speaker 3: take it over.
- 1:34Speaker 2: The one thing to me that.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Stands out about the lines is their resilience, their toughness,
- 1:40Speaker 3: their grittiness, man, that comes through in everything that they do.
- 1:44Speaker 3: This is a really, really good team, a well constructed team.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I know they're physical. I mean you could see
- 1:50Speaker 1: some of the replays of just the push that their
- 1:52Speaker 1: offensive line was getting. It was pretty ridiculous. They were
- 1:56Speaker 1: just kind of mauling people at the point of attack
- 1:58Speaker 1: with their offensive line and then on the defensive front.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Now they've got they've got an underrated player there when
- 2:03Speaker 1: you go and watch the tape and going through it
- 2:05Speaker 1: this morning, Alien McNeil had a couple of sacks in
- 2:09Speaker 1: this game. But he is excellent with his hands. He's quick.
- 2:12Speaker 1: You know, he's coming out of n C State, I
- 2:14Speaker 1: believe I remember correctly, it was kind of more of
- 2:16Speaker 1: a pocket push. Yeah, but now buck he's getting he's
- 2:21Speaker 1: getting on some of those edges inside and uh, he's
- 2:24Speaker 1: you know, he's winning in one on one pass rush
- 2:26Speaker 1: and he's doing it with outstanding hands, which tells me
- 2:28Speaker 1: a couple of things. Number One, he's skilled. Number two,
- 2:30Speaker 1: he's well coached. They're a nice job of continuing to
- 2:33Speaker 1: develop him.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Even further on Elee McNeil, he played in my rival
- 2:36Speaker 3: high school. He played at Sandison High School. How about
- 2:39Speaker 3: I want you to imagine that big guy playing left
- 2:42Speaker 3: field on the baseball team, because that's what he did.
- 2:44Speaker 2: He played the outfield.
- 2:46Speaker 3: And so when you talk about his athleticism in his
- 2:48Speaker 3: hand usage and all that is notticica wincidence. This is
- 2:51Speaker 3: a talented player and Aiden Hudgson, Alien McNeil all their guys.
- 2:57Speaker 3: The one thing that is coming to nominated with their guys.
- 2:59Speaker 3: They have really gone all in on high motor guys.
- 3:02Speaker 3: They played hard, their physical, they run to the ball,
- 3:05Speaker 3: and Glynn has done a really good job of really
- 3:08Speaker 3: taking this defense and changing it.
- 3:10Speaker 2: They went from a.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Team that was all manned a man a year ago,
- 3:13Speaker 3: high pressure to then backing off and playing zone. Well
- 3:15Speaker 3: against the Raiders, he reintroduced some of that blitzed some
- 3:19Speaker 3: of that aggressiveness they came after.
- 3:20Speaker 2: They really knocked the Raiders around.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yeah. By the way, on a side note, I'm sure
- 3:24Speaker 1: you saw Dave Dorn with his comments about Steve Smith,
- 3:28Speaker 1: our buddy Steve Smith. When Steve just it was a
- 3:30Speaker 1: throwaway line. I thought it was pretty harmless when he
- 3:32Speaker 1: said NC State was a basketball school. That was not
- 3:34Speaker 1: well received. So I'm curious as somebody who went to Carolina,
- 3:38Speaker 1: who I'm sure your entire life have heard that Carolina
- 3:41Speaker 1: is a basketball school. As a football player at a
- 3:43Speaker 1: quote unquote basketball school, did that bother you guys at all?
- 3:47Speaker 3: I mean, it can't bother you if you go to
- 3:48Speaker 3: North Carolina and the basketball team is putting up banners.
- 3:51Speaker 2: But it is one of those things that is annoying.
- 3:54Speaker 3: You always want to be viewed in the same life,
- 3:57Speaker 3: so I understand doing, but doing is always kind of
- 3:59Speaker 3: edged when it comes to those things. Steve Smith kind
- 4:02Speaker 3: of gave him something that he was looking for. He
- 4:04Speaker 3: gave him a little bit of more material to take
- 4:06Speaker 3: to his team and kind of energized them as they
- 4:08Speaker 3: were getting ready for Clempson last weekend.
- 4:11Speaker 1: That was pretty entertaining. All right, we've done the positives here.
- 4:14Speaker 1: The Lions again, the rookie Sam Laporta, Jamiir Gibbs doing
- 4:17Speaker 1: great on offense, the offensive line dominated, the defensive front
- 4:20Speaker 1: took over the game. So lots of good from the
- 4:22Speaker 1: Lion side of things. The Raiders not so much. And
- 4:26Speaker 1: I want to start right here. Let's go. I believe
- 4:28Speaker 1: we have some sound from after the game from Davante Adams.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Let's hear that and we'll react to it.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Honestly, I don't know what to say at this moment,
- 4:36Speaker 4: I truly don't. I wish I had the words, you know,
- 4:41Speaker 4: to say something that's not going to get blown up
- 4:43Speaker 4: in the media and taking out of context.
- 4:45Speaker 2: So I'm gonna just.
- 4:48Speaker 1: What are you feeling right now? Can you elaborate on anything.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Going through your mind.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Frustration.
- 4:53Speaker 1: But that's that kind of go over with us, and
- 4:57Speaker 1: I thought it was actually a very mature and tame
- 5:01Speaker 1: response to our bridget content's questions there, Bucket. To me,
- 5:05Speaker 1: he showed restraint because anybody has a right to be frustrated.
- 5:08Speaker 1: It's this guy, especially coming off that game. He could
- 5:11Speaker 1: add like a two hundred yard receiving day just on
- 5:14Speaker 1: the two balls that were grossly missed on home run balls,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I mean huge, huge plays, and it's just it's not close.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I'm talking about the two deep shots where he is
- 5:24Speaker 1: free and in the clear and that ball is nowhere
- 5:26Speaker 1: to be found.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 3: No, if you're Devanta Adams, this is not what you
- 5:30Speaker 3: signed up for when you made the trade request to
- 5:33Speaker 3: come to the Raiders. You thought you would be a
- 5:34Speaker 3: featured player and some of that they would be able
- 5:37Speaker 3: to build game plans around. And for whatever reason, Josh
- 5:39Speaker 3: mcdames has not been able to get Davante Adams unlocked.
- 5:43Speaker 3: And to me, when you look at their team, it
- 5:45Speaker 3: has to be DeVante Adams and Josh Jacobs as the
- 5:48Speaker 3: focal points and I don't care whatever order, if he's
- 5:51Speaker 3: number one or Josh Jakos number one. Those guys have
- 5:54Speaker 3: to touch the ball, and for whatever reason, they're not
- 5:56Speaker 3: getting it done. Some of that maybe use the era
- 5:58Speaker 3: in terms of Jimmy Garoppolo able to push it outside.
- 6:01Speaker 3: But if I'm a guy who has been an All
- 6:04Speaker 3: Pro player, a guy who is really viewed as wide
- 6:07Speaker 3: receiver won in the National Football League, to go in
- 6:09Speaker 3: an entire half without getting the ball in those things,
- 6:12Speaker 3: the frustration says in and to continue to lose games
- 6:15Speaker 3: when you haven't been a big part of the offensive puzzle. Yeah,
- 6:18Speaker 3: the frustration I'm sure is kind of boiling over, and
- 6:22Speaker 3: at some point Josh McDaniels has to make a change.
- 6:24Speaker 3: They had a team meeting last week. I don't know
- 6:27Speaker 3: what's after the team meeting, because once you have the
- 6:29Speaker 3: team meeting and you air it out, there's nothing else
- 6:32Speaker 3: that can be done. This is situation critical in Las Vegas.
- 6:36Speaker 3: This is a team that is trending in the wrong direction.
- 6:38Speaker 1: One of the double moves will stutter go. That's a
- 6:41Speaker 1: sixty yard touchdown. Buck, He's ten yards in the clear.
- 6:44Speaker 1: They targeted him seven times and they tried to get him.
- 6:46Speaker 1: The football quarterback can't get it there So at what
- 6:49Speaker 1: point time do we just say this is this is
- 6:51Speaker 1: not it's not gonna work. You know, we were excited
- 6:54Speaker 1: about Jimmy Grofthlo reuniting with Josh McDaniels. He's not good
- 6:57Speaker 1: enough when the sacks taken in the completion numbers are indistinguishable. Buck,
- 7:02Speaker 1: that's a problem when you've got ten completions and you're
- 7:04Speaker 1: taking ten and six sacks and you're missing lay up
- 7:08Speaker 1: home run balls and you're throwing interceptions, turn the ball over, Like,
- 7:12Speaker 1: what are we doing. Let's let's get a chance, Let's
- 7:14Speaker 1: look at a and O'Connell, see what he can do,
- 7:16Speaker 1: and let's go forward with a young guy at least
- 7:18Speaker 1: have some hope for the future. It's it's been, uh,
- 7:22Speaker 1: it's been underneath the surface for DeVante Adams. I know
- 7:24Speaker 1: he slammed the helmet, but I thought he was reserved
- 7:26Speaker 1: in his comments after the game. I can't imagine he's
- 7:29Speaker 1: gonna stay reserved. This is a guy who signed up
- 7:31Speaker 1: to go play with his best friend, his college buddy,
- 7:33Speaker 1: Derek Carr, and had visions of you know, catching a
- 7:35Speaker 1: zillion balls and putting up big numbers and winning games
- 7:38Speaker 1: and why they're three and five, and they've been you know,
- 7:40Speaker 1: somewhat competitive, quarterback plays terrible. So I mean, I don't know.
- 7:45Speaker 1: To me, it feels like you've got to you've got
- 7:47Speaker 1: to go in another direction. I know you gave Jimmy
- 7:49Speaker 1: a little money, I know you committed to him, but
- 7:51Speaker 1: this is just he's not good enough. I don't know
- 7:53Speaker 1: how else to say it.
- 7:54Speaker 2: No, he hasn't been good. He hasn't been what everyone thought.
- 7:57Speaker 3: We thought he would jump in, pick up the system
- 7:59Speaker 3: and go and even though it's been a while since
- 8:01Speaker 3: he's played for Josh McDaniels in this system, we thought
- 8:04Speaker 3: that it would be a smoother transition, and it hasn't worked.
- 8:08Speaker 3: And this team, I don't want to say, I mean
- 8:10Speaker 3: they are wasting games because this team is good enough
- 8:12Speaker 3: to play much better. Their record could be and should
- 8:16Speaker 3: be flipped. They should be a five and three team,
- 8:18Speaker 3: maybe even a six and two team, but they have
- 8:20Speaker 3: not taken advantage of the opportunities that are there. And
- 8:23Speaker 3: at some point we can talk about the quarterback, but
- 8:26Speaker 3: the guys are gonna look at the head coach and
- 8:28Speaker 3: they're looking at him to solve the problems.
- 8:30Speaker 2: And if he doesn't have any answers.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Man, Mark Davis is gonna have to make a really
- 8:35Speaker 3: difficult decision whether to keep Josh McDaniels and continue to
- 8:39Speaker 3: go down this road or to maybe go somewhere else.
- 8:42Speaker 3: But I don't know the head Gruden now they had
- 8:45Speaker 3: Josh mc daniels. I don't know what this looks like,
- 8:46Speaker 3: but it doesn't look like it needs to look for
- 8:49Speaker 3: the Raiders to be a playoff contender year after year.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Yeah, obviously was kind of an ugly end there goes
- 8:54Speaker 1: without saying to the end of the Gruden era, but
- 8:57Speaker 1: that was a team that was a playoff team. Was
- 8:59Speaker 1: kind of true ending in the right direction. They were offense,
- 9:02Speaker 1: you know, an offense that was fun to watch and
- 9:05Speaker 1: kind of you could envision this working for you know,
- 9:08Speaker 1: going in the future for a period of time. And
- 9:09Speaker 1: now it's like, man, this is hard to get first
- 9:12Speaker 1: downs right now for this team when you have an
- 9:15Speaker 1: offensive head coach. That's not a good look. It is
- 9:18Speaker 1: kind of what I'm getting at there, all right. For
- 9:20Speaker 1: the first time ever, the NFL kicks off in Frankfurt, Germany,
- 9:25Speaker 1: with Sunday Morning football exclusively on NFL Network. It is
- 9:29Speaker 1: a must see AFC Showdown as the Dolphins take on
- 9:32Speaker 1: the Chiefs. Rise, Shine, and watch on Sunday, November fifth,
- 9:37Speaker 1: at nine thirty am Eastern only on NFL Network and
- 9:40Speaker 1: streaming on NFL Plus. How about that matchup That is
- 9:43Speaker 1: going to be an awesome game there from Frankfurt, Germany.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And today we're going to use a little bit of
- 9:48Speaker 1: a trade deadline theme here. Buck. We've got a couple
- 9:50Speaker 1: of trades as we're recording this that have already taken place,
- 9:53Speaker 1: and let's get to those. Let's start first of all,
- 9:56Speaker 1: Leonard Williams that came down yesterday. He has traded from
- 9:59Speaker 1: the Giants. He goes to the Seattle Seahawks. Just your
- 10:02Speaker 1: thoughts on the move for both teams and what that
- 10:04Speaker 1: means for their defense.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Well, one Pete.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Carroll looking back at his time at USC and taking
- 10:10Speaker 3: the USC legend and Leonard Williams, even though he didn't
- 10:13Speaker 3: necessarily coach him, he understands who he is and what
- 10:15Speaker 3: he was about and what he means to the university.
- 10:19Speaker 3: And so he takes a player who has had a
- 10:21Speaker 3: level of success in the National Football League, but he
- 10:23Speaker 3: needs a fresh start.
- 10:24Speaker 2: You put him in this defense.
- 10:25Speaker 3: A guy who can play inside and give you sack production,
- 10:29Speaker 3: high effort guy. He just kind of needs to be
- 10:32Speaker 3: put in the right situation where he can get home
- 10:34Speaker 3: and makes him disrupt the plays when now he's going
- 10:37Speaker 3: to have that, and so I like that. I like
- 10:39Speaker 3: what the Seattle se have done the last couple of weeks.
- 10:41Speaker 3: You talk about him bringing over Frank Clark, what they're
- 10:44Speaker 3: trying to do to kind of revamp this defensive front.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Pete Carroll wants to get back to playing the way
- 10:49Speaker 3: they played during the Legion of Booms Heyday. And the
- 10:51Speaker 3: only way you can do that you got to have
- 10:52Speaker 3: lots of bodies upfront, lots of bodies that can take
- 10:55Speaker 3: over the game much like they did in the early
- 10:57Speaker 3: twenty tens.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, passing League, I think a lot of people.
- 11:01Speaker 1: You look at a defensive lineman transaction, you see the
- 11:04Speaker 1: compensation there with a two and a five. That's not cheap.
- 11:07Speaker 1: And Leonard Williams, to me though, it's what he's going
- 11:10Speaker 1: to be able to do to get you to those
- 11:12Speaker 1: pass rush downs. It's being stout at the point of attack.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Pete Carroll has always valued that. He's always understood, you know,
- 11:18Speaker 1: having some bigs upfront to be able to stop the
- 11:21Speaker 1: run and then be able to cut your edge loose
- 11:23Speaker 1: against the pass and play kind of that fearless role
- 11:27Speaker 1: off the ball style. So I think he fits stylistically.
- 11:31Speaker 1: This is a defensive front that lost another trojan in
- 11:34Speaker 1: Chennanuoso to injury, So you replace the trojan with the
- 11:37Speaker 1: trojan obviously different positions, but you just add him to
- 11:40Speaker 1: that defensive front. Frank Clark comes in there as well.
- 11:43Speaker 1: It also signals to me that this is a Seahawks
- 11:46Speaker 1: team that sees this division buck is one that everybody
- 11:49Speaker 1: assumed that forty nine ers would run away with. They
- 11:51Speaker 1: see this division as winnable and their positioned perfectly right now.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Yeah, they are positioned perfectly, and this is a team
- 11:56Speaker 3: that has a lot of confidence and Pete Carroll kind
- 11:58Speaker 3: of understands what it is when it comes to this
- 12:00Speaker 3: rivalry that.
- 12:01Speaker 2: They have with the forty nine ers.
- 12:02Speaker 3: We talked about the arms race that is in the NFC,
- 12:05Speaker 3: and the arms race that we've talked about is the
- 12:06Speaker 3: Philadelphia Eagles looking out west and seeing what the Niners
- 12:09Speaker 3: are doing in them competing back and forth, well the
- 12:12Speaker 3: Pacific Northwest. The Seattle Seahawks are looking down at the
- 12:15Speaker 3: nine and saying, hey, don't sleep on us. We're gonna
- 12:17Speaker 3: add some some weapons to the arsenal that will give
- 12:21Speaker 3: us an opportunity to maybe quietly steal the division and
- 12:24Speaker 3: put us in a situation where we can go toe
- 12:26Speaker 3: to toe with the Philadelphia Eagles. I like the moves,
- 12:28Speaker 3: I like the aggress on us DJ. We've talked about it.
- 12:32Speaker 3: I think there should be more trades in the National
- 12:34Speaker 3: Football League. I love the John Snyder and company. Those
- 12:36Speaker 3: guys are willing to kind of think outside the box
- 12:39Speaker 3: and add pieces to the team building puzzle that gives
- 12:42Speaker 3: them a chance to really compete at the highest level.
- 12:44Speaker 1: All Right, I'm gonna put you on the spot, no warning,
- 12:48Speaker 1: and I know you love it when I do this.
- 12:50Speaker 1: If you have got to win a game tomorrow, and
- 12:53Speaker 1: you've got your choice of Geno Smith or brock Purty,
- 12:56Speaker 1: who you taking tomorrow games tomorrow?
- 13:00Speaker 3: Look, I'm still going lean towards brock Pretty because of
- 13:03Speaker 3: the supporting cast and those things. I like Gino and
- 13:05Speaker 3: those things. I'm still in that all the way off
- 13:07Speaker 3: the brock Pretty bus. But it is getting close. He's
- 13:11Speaker 3: getting tight. He's coming back to me. So I'm Brock
- 13:15Speaker 3: pretty in the nine ers.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I would too. I would stick with Brock Purty.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I know this is that like Recncy bias. You could say,
- 13:22Speaker 1: I don't know, it looked great lately. I would still
- 13:24Speaker 1: you know, I would still lean in that direction. I
- 13:25Speaker 1: think the forty nine ers still end up winning this division.
- 13:27Speaker 1: But man, the Seahawks are. They're right there at the top,
- 13:30Speaker 1: and they seize this opportunity to try and add to
- 13:32Speaker 1: their ball club and see if that can push them
- 13:35Speaker 1: all the way over the top. All right, another move
- 13:36Speaker 1: that just went down. Montes Sweat and talks a lot
- 13:40Speaker 1: about him being on the trade block, and he's been traded.
- 13:43Speaker 1: He's gone. He goes to Chicago Bears, a team that
- 13:45Speaker 1: I just saw Buck. I just talked about this yesterday
- 13:47Speaker 1: about how talent challenged, let's use that phrase. This Bears
- 13:52Speaker 1: team is, especially on the defensive line, they just not
- 13:55Speaker 1: There's nobody you worry about there. So the cost, though,
- 13:59Speaker 1: is what I want to get to. It is a
- 14:00Speaker 1: second round pick. Montes Sweats never had double digit sacks.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Came into the league in twenty nineteen. You know, you
- 14:07Speaker 1: look at the sack total numbers and I know there's
- 14:08Speaker 1: more to it than just sacks. But seven nine, five, eight,
- 14:11Speaker 1: six and a half eighty liked the trade for the
- 14:16Speaker 1: for the Bears and b was it too much that
- 14:19Speaker 1: they gave up?
- 14:21Speaker 2: No, it's not too much.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Because we talked about a team that doesn't have any talent.
- 14:24Speaker 3: You said, they saw it on Sunday night. They don't
- 14:28Speaker 3: have enough upfront to do what Matt Eberflusch wants to do,
- 14:31Speaker 3: and so to get a player. It was a first
- 14:32Speaker 3: round pick, a high motor player, a guy who by
- 14:34Speaker 3: all accounts has been really, really good in the locker room.
- 14:36Speaker 3: I slid teammate, Yeah, they need to do that. You
- 14:39Speaker 3: want to see the production. And I will say this
- 14:41Speaker 3: because we say it. With wide receivers and other things,
- 14:43Speaker 3: it's hard to project a number two to be at
- 14:46Speaker 3: number one at any position. So I would not expect
- 14:48Speaker 3: montes Witt to be the point on the sword when
- 14:51Speaker 3: it comes to their pass rush. But he gives them
- 14:53Speaker 3: someone who can get to the quarterback where the opportunity
- 14:56Speaker 3: presents itself. Maybe he will be unleashed and maybe he'll
- 14:59Speaker 3: play in a better role. This is when Matt eberflows
- 15:02Speaker 3: needed somebody. But they're gonna need some other people along
- 15:04Speaker 3: that defensive front to eventually play the.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Style that they want to play under him.
- 15:09Speaker 1: All right, I'm gonna do a little exercise with you here,
- 15:12Speaker 1: because if it ended today, the season end of today,
- 15:15Speaker 1: that pick would be the thirty fifth pick. So I
- 15:19Speaker 1: pulled up the edge rushers that were drafted over the
- 15:22Speaker 1: last few years. So I'm gonna give you guys that
- 15:24Speaker 1: were picked in that neighborhood. Okay, just to give you
- 15:26Speaker 1: a sense of who you know, maybe the opportunity you
- 15:28Speaker 1: gave up here, Here's who the guys are. Thirty first
- 15:31Speaker 1: pick this year was felix en A dk Uzama with
- 15:33Speaker 1: the Chiefs. You go to. The fortieth pick was Isaiah
- 15:37Speaker 1: Foski at a Notre Dame. He goes to the Saints,
- 15:40Speaker 1: you go back the year before that. The thirtieth pick
- 15:43Speaker 1: was Carl Loftis, The forty sixth pick was Josh Pascal.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Twenty twenty one, Rousseau was the thirtieth pick. Twenty twenty
- 15:53Speaker 1: you tiar, gross Matos was the thirty eighth pick. So
- 15:57Speaker 1: you see what I'm getting. You're not seeing anybody on
- 15:59Speaker 1: that list that you're like, WHOA like that man? We
- 16:01Speaker 1: missed out on one here, some solid players in there,
- 16:04Speaker 1: But I think that when you look at what's going
- 16:06Speaker 1: to be available with that pick, I think Montes Sweater
- 16:09Speaker 1: is an established player, even though you got a PAM
- 16:12Speaker 1: going into the future here, probably tagg him if you
- 16:13Speaker 1: don't get him done, but then get a long term
- 16:15Speaker 1: deal done. I understand it. I would say I don't
- 16:18Speaker 1: love it, Buck, but I understand it. I don't think
- 16:20Speaker 1: it was a bad move.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I understand it.
- 16:23Speaker 3: And also like we haven't necessarily looked all the way
- 16:25Speaker 3: ahead to the next used draft class to kind of
- 16:27Speaker 3: be able to assess what MONTESWD looks like against some
- 16:30Speaker 3: of the top second round prospects that could be available.
- 16:34Speaker 2: But this makes a lot of sense.
- 16:36Speaker 3: When you talked about those names, DJ, all those names
- 16:38Speaker 3: that you read off, there was no one that kind
- 16:40Speaker 3: of got me going, got me excited, like, yeah, let's
- 16:42Speaker 3: go see this guy rush the password.
- 16:44Speaker 2: So if the Bears took that approach.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Where they kind of weighed what normally goes in the
- 16:48Speaker 3: second round versus what they could have in Mantes Wet,
- 16:51Speaker 3: it's very a sensible deal on their end, and a
- 16:55Speaker 3: second round pick is nice and you want that got
- 16:57Speaker 3: to be a start of a snow guarantees on the
- 17:00Speaker 3: swap Dad to get a guy who's going to be
- 17:02Speaker 3: a starter for them, and hopefully a good starter for them,
- 17:04Speaker 3: given the conversation they gave up for.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Yeah, Ryan Pols taking his swings did not work out
- 17:09Speaker 1: well last year when he made the trade for Chase Claypool.
- 17:12Speaker 1: That experiment has already come to an en in Pittsburgh
- 17:14Speaker 1: ends up getting a high second round pick. Worked out
- 17:15Speaker 1: great for the Steelers. Hopefully this one works out a
- 17:18Speaker 1: little bit better. I think Montes swept much more proven
- 17:20Speaker 1: than Chase Claypool was at that time. All Right, one
- 17:23Speaker 1: more move here we'll get to, and that is Chase Young.
- 17:26Speaker 1: He gets traded from the Washington Commanders to the San
- 17:31Speaker 1: Francisco forty nine Ers, which shouldn't be a surprise if
- 17:34Speaker 1: you've been listening to us. We've been talking about the
- 17:36Speaker 1: forty nine ers making a move. They had cap space,
- 17:39Speaker 1: You had the history of what they've done at the deadline,
- 17:42Speaker 1: including last year with a big move for Christian McCaffrey,
- 17:45Speaker 1: how that paid off. You have the arms race that
- 17:48Speaker 1: we've discussed with them in the Philadelphia Eagles, and you're
- 17:51Speaker 1: coming off some losses It was kind of a perfect storm.
- 17:54Speaker 1: And on top of that, you've got extra draft picks,
- 17:57Speaker 1: including some an extra third round pick because you have
- 18:01Speaker 1: Ran Carthon who gets hired as the general manager of
- 18:04Speaker 1: the Tennessee Titans, so they're going to get a comp
- 18:06Speaker 1: pick for that one. And Demiko Ryans got hired as well,
- 18:10Speaker 1: so they have extra picks. It was a third round
- 18:13Speaker 1: pick for Chase Young, which for somebody who's having his
- 18:16Speaker 1: best year of his career. He's been injured a bunch
- 18:19Speaker 1: and he's been a little bit underwhelming, but he's healthy
- 18:22Speaker 1: this year, he's in a contract year, he's highly motivated,
- 18:24Speaker 1: and now he is reunited with his college teammate, the
- 18:28Speaker 1: Ohio State Buckeyes with Bosa so Nick Bosa, Chase Young, Armstead, Hardgrave.
- 18:35Speaker 1: That is you know, that's quite the defensive front that
- 18:38Speaker 1: they have there with John Lynch pulling the trigger on
- 18:41Speaker 1: this move to bring in Chase Young. So I like
- 18:43Speaker 1: that one. A big one in Washington is sellers, the
- 18:46Speaker 1: big sellers. They sell off both edge rushers Montes Wet
- 18:50Speaker 1: and Chase Young, and it looks like they are looking
- 18:53Speaker 1: towards the future. They've already paid both defensive tackles, So
- 18:55Speaker 1: they're gonna have to play some young end. It's gonna
- 18:58Speaker 1: have to draft some young ends next year. But interesting,
- 19:01Speaker 1: interesting move. All right, we're gonna take a little break
- 19:03Speaker 1: when we come back. We're gonna look at the NFC
- 19:06Speaker 1: and the teams that are vying for that final seed,
- 19:09Speaker 1: that seventh seed, and see if we can't find a
- 19:12Speaker 1: winner in that bunch. We'll do that right after this.
- 19:19Speaker 1: All right, let's take a look at the playoff field
- 19:21Speaker 1: here in the NFC and looking at the teams competing
- 19:25Speaker 1: for that seventh spot. Look, eight games, that's a good
- 19:28Speaker 1: chunk that we can look at here. If the season
- 19:30Speaker 1: end of today, it would be the Minnesota Vikings obviously
- 19:33Speaker 1: just lost Kirk Cousins there. Buck. But then this next
- 19:35Speaker 1: group of teams, you've got the Saints, the Bucks, the Rams,
- 19:38Speaker 1: the Commanders, and the Packers, and the Packers generously making
- 19:42Speaker 1: this board as a two to five team. So when
- 19:46Speaker 1: you look at these teams, the Commanders, as we've discussed,
- 19:49Speaker 1: they've already they've already sold, the Giants have sold Leonard Williams.
- 19:53Speaker 1: They've had quarterback health issues. So if we're saying the
- 19:57Speaker 1: Commanders and the Giants maybe not trending in the right
- 19:59Speaker 1: directtion to chase this down. I guess of the teams
- 20:02Speaker 1: if we were to say Vikings, the Kirk Cousins list
- 20:05Speaker 1: of Vikings, the Saints, the Bucks, the Rams, those to
- 20:08Speaker 1: me feel like the teams in the mix. Is there
- 20:11Speaker 1: one that you prefer and you feel confident about.
- 20:15Speaker 2: I would go with the Saints in this scenario.
- 20:18Speaker 3: And what you're looking for is a combination that a
- 20:20Speaker 3: couple of things we always talk about DJ You're looking
- 20:23Speaker 3: for a quarterback and you're looking for a defense that
- 20:25Speaker 3: can rush the pass, and so the Saints would give
- 20:27Speaker 3: me the best combination of both.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Derek Carr is.
- 20:30Speaker 3: A mid to mid high level quarterback. I would say,
- 20:36Speaker 3: like a friend's top ten quarterback. I think that you
- 20:38Speaker 3: can win with him. Offensively, Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara
- 20:41Speaker 3: and those guys, I think you must have enough points
- 20:43Speaker 3: to be competitive in most games. But defensively, that's where
- 20:47Speaker 3: they really can make their Hey, you think about Cam
- 20:50Speaker 3: Jordan Honey Badger to Mario Davis, Marshawn Lattimore. They have
- 20:54Speaker 3: four veteran players that are blue chip players that can
- 20:56Speaker 3: make it happen. So in this race, when you talk
- 20:59Speaker 3: about those teams racing for the seventh seed, the Saints
- 21:03Speaker 3: to me are better positioned than any of those because
- 21:05Speaker 3: they have veteran defense that knows how to make plays
- 21:08Speaker 3: when plays are needed, and then they.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Have a quarterback. They should be able to get this
- 21:12Speaker 2: offense over the line.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Yeah. I actually think it comes down to the Saints
- 21:17Speaker 1: and the Bucks. So you hit on the Saints, all
- 21:20Speaker 1: hit on the Bucks. Like the Bucks are in a
- 21:21Speaker 1: little bit of a skid right now, but as you
- 21:23Speaker 1: kind of look at the schedule and how it unfolds,
- 21:25Speaker 1: I think they've got a chance to kind of get
- 21:26Speaker 1: back on track here. And well, I don't necessarily love
- 21:29Speaker 1: the quarterback situation there, It's okay, it's you know, there's
- 21:32Speaker 1: a lot worse out there in the league right now,
- 21:34Speaker 1: and they do have some veterans on the defensive side
- 21:36Speaker 1: of the ball. We'll see what happens. As we're recording
- 21:39Speaker 1: this at the trade deadline, they haven't sold off any
- 21:41Speaker 1: of their pieces, so hopefully that doesn't screwed me over
- 21:44Speaker 1: and end up selling. But at this point in time,
- 21:47Speaker 1: I think they have enough offensive firepower they're going to
- 21:49Speaker 1: stay in this thing. I like the Rams in terms
- 21:53Speaker 1: of you know, some of the way they've played, the
- 21:55Speaker 1: way they're coached. But Stafford's health worries me going off
- 21:59Speaker 1: into the future here, and I just don't know if
- 22:01Speaker 1: they have enough pieces on the defensive side of the ball.
- 22:04Speaker 1: They're fun to watch on offense, I just don't know
- 22:06Speaker 1: if they're good enough there. And you add into that
- 22:08Speaker 1: buck the division that they're in, you know, a tough
- 22:12Speaker 1: one there. So to me, those feel like the two
- 22:14Speaker 1: And let's wait and see what the Vikings look like
- 22:16Speaker 1: with a new quarterback. Obviously, don't want to rule them out.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I thought with Kirk Cousins, they're clearly the class of
- 22:21Speaker 1: this group of teams.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Yeah, they're clearly the class man, and I won't discount
- 22:25Speaker 3: or dismiss their chances.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Of being able to do it.
- 22:27Speaker 3: I'm a big believer in Brian Floores and what he's
- 22:29Speaker 3: able to do with this defense. This defense man, they
- 22:31Speaker 3: wear you out. They cover zero pressure scheme that he's
- 22:34Speaker 3: been utilizing. They they've given good teams problems and so
- 22:38Speaker 3: more pressure on them to probably generate more turnovers keep
- 22:41Speaker 3: the score down as they're trying to figure out what
- 22:44Speaker 3: to do offensively. I wouldn't dismiss the chances, but it'd
- 22:46Speaker 3: be interesting to see what did they do at quarterback.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Can they price somebody, anybody away from a team that
- 22:52Speaker 3: is willing to give up a quarterback. I don't know,
- 22:55Speaker 3: But if they have a quarterback, just a decent quarterback,
- 22:57Speaker 3: I think you can lock.
- 22:58Speaker 2: This team in as a seven seed in the NFC.
- 23:01Speaker 1: When I get back to the Bucks here real quick,
- 23:03Speaker 1: here's their group of games they've got coming up. They
- 23:06Speaker 1: are at Houston, that's a winnable game. Tennessee at home,
- 23:10Speaker 1: winnable game, now you look at it. At the Niners,
- 23:12Speaker 1: that's a rough one. But then back after that at
- 23:15Speaker 1: the Colts, Carolina, Atlanta, Green Bay. I mean, there's a
- 23:19Speaker 1: lot of winnables on here. For Tampa. They've got to
- 23:21Speaker 1: get right here. This next month, November is big for them.
- 23:24Speaker 1: They've got to get back on track having lost three
- 23:26Speaker 1: games in a row, a couple of them very close
- 23:28Speaker 1: to Atlanta and Buffalo. But I like the Bucks to
- 23:31Speaker 1: stay in this thing. I think it's going to come
- 23:32Speaker 1: down to those two teams. I think it's the Saints
- 23:34Speaker 1: and the Bucks in that fight for that seventh seed.
- 23:37Speaker 1: So we'll see how it all shakes out. We'll keep
- 23:39Speaker 1: an eye on this as we go through the rest
- 23:41Speaker 1: of the year. All right, let's get to the rookies.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Can we do the rookies? Don't I don't want to
- 23:45Speaker 1: spend too much time talking about last week. It was
- 23:47Speaker 1: not great for the both of us. Gibbs three points
- 23:50Speaker 1: for Rhett, Addison, three points for HTT, Laporta three points
- 23:53Speaker 1: for Rhett. He crushed us. He got the top guy
- 23:57Speaker 1: at every single position. Buck, you end up getting two
- 24:00Speaker 1: points with Bijon and JSN. I got a big fat one.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Dalton Kin kid got me one point as the second
- 24:07Speaker 1: performing tight end. If you look at where we are
- 24:10Speaker 1: for the season, worst hide Buck thirty three apiece and
- 24:12Speaker 1: Rhett has closed the gap. He's at twenty nine. So
- 24:16Speaker 1: he's uh, he's bringing down our neck. But we've got it.
- 24:19Speaker 1: We've got to bounce back this week. I like our chances.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna, first of all, before I start
- 24:24Speaker 1: us off with the first pick of those rookies. The
- 24:26Speaker 1: performances you saw from Rhtt, those three pointers, any of
- 24:29Speaker 1: them stand out to you.
- 24:30Speaker 3: The Detroit Lions rookies being able to do it. You know,
- 24:33Speaker 3: we talked about the rookies and the rookie impacs was.
- 24:37Speaker 3: We always talk about that on the podcast. These guys
- 24:39Speaker 3: have been phenomenal Samuel samuela Porter and Jamie Gibbs being
- 24:43Speaker 3: able to make contributions right away. This Lions team has
- 24:46Speaker 3: done a really good job the last two years putting
- 24:48Speaker 3: back to back rookie classes that have been able to
- 24:50Speaker 3: make contributions right away. But these two guys offensively, I
- 24:55Speaker 3: don't know if anybody thought that they would come like this.
- 24:57Speaker 3: People thought Jamiy Gis would make an impact with sam
- 25:00Speaker 3: Laport have been able to make plays stretch the defense
- 25:03Speaker 3: as a vertical stretch play maker down the middle of
- 25:05Speaker 3: the field. He is being better than advertised. Man, this
- 25:09Speaker 3: Lions team is kind of creeping into title contention status
- 25:13Speaker 3: because of their young players playing really really well from
- 25:15Speaker 3: day one.
- 25:16Speaker 1: And Jamier Gibbs, going back through some of my notes
- 25:18Speaker 1: on him, Gosh, he ran four three six coming out.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I had fashion in the backfield in the slot, jet
- 25:24Speaker 1: sweeps burst, He's a slasher. I'm not really in move
- 25:28Speaker 1: the pile runner. He's got natural hands, excellent the screen game,
- 25:31Speaker 1: big time FBI so Football Intelligence and pass Pro and
- 25:35Speaker 1: it was kind of going back through and looking at
- 25:38Speaker 1: him and who he reminded me of coming out, and
- 25:40Speaker 1: I had a little bit of kind of that little
- 25:42Speaker 1: bit of Jamal Charles vibe to him, even a little
- 25:45Speaker 1: bit of Chris Johnson, like just when he gets out
- 25:47Speaker 1: in the open field. He's got a different gear now,
- 25:49Speaker 1: not quite the home run speed that Chris Johnson had,
- 25:53Speaker 1: but he can go big time, big time dude. All right,
- 25:56Speaker 1: I've got the first pick today, buck, this is rebound week.
- 25:58Speaker 1: I've got to get back, got to get right. And
- 26:01Speaker 1: I'm looking at the buys here and I'm seeing what
- 26:03Speaker 1: Jamir Gibbs having a bye. I'm gonna go Bijon with
- 26:07Speaker 1: the first pick. I'm gonna see if I can get
- 26:10Speaker 1: get a point here. Three uh three for first place,
- 26:12Speaker 1: right one for second. So I'm gonna go be Jeon
- 26:14Speaker 1: Robinson with the first pick. You're up next.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Oh man, that's tough, like the bid week's factory in
- 26:19Speaker 3: And I'm just sitting here thinking.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Like what who can I lean on? Who can I
- 26:23Speaker 2: depend on? My guy? My guys are done. Let me
- 26:27Speaker 2: see d because I don't have a right in front
- 26:29Speaker 2: of me.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Let's see if I can take Seattle up this week,
- 26:32Speaker 3: Can I take Zach Charboney? Can I try to seattle
- 26:35Speaker 3: some points for me? Yeah, so let's go with Zach
- 26:37Speaker 3: Sharon running back up choice for the week. Yeah, I'm
- 26:40Speaker 3: going to Zach Scharbony.
- 26:41Speaker 1: See you can go and for planning for planning purposes. Uh,
- 26:45Speaker 1: we're gonna let Drew is gonna get in my ear
- 26:47Speaker 1: and tell me who rhtt has on his board. But
- 26:48Speaker 1: just see you nobook the buys. This week, we've got Denver, Detroit,
- 26:52Speaker 1: San Francisco, Jacksonville, as you know with Jacksonville, so you've
- 26:56Speaker 1: got sharbon Ay and Drew's got in my ear and
- 26:59Speaker 1: said he's gonna go CJ. Stroud for Rep. So he's
- 27:04Speaker 1: gonna take the first quarterback off the board and then
- 27:06Speaker 1: he's got another one here. When are we going Jordan Addison?
- 27:09Speaker 1: Oh so so we're back to quarterback doing quarterbacks this week.
- 27:12Speaker 1: We're back to quarterback. We're back to quarterbacks and then
- 27:15Speaker 1: pass catchers. So we're combining the wide receivers and the
- 27:18Speaker 1: tight ends. So hey, well dude, you've got options here,
- 27:22Speaker 1: You've got you've got a lot of places you can go.
- 27:24Speaker 1: You're up next buck, Yeah.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Oh, I'm up next level so he took C. J. Strowder.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Who else he does a snake draft? Who's the other guy?
- 27:30Speaker 1: Jordan Addison? Yeah, Jordan Addison the white out?
- 27:33Speaker 2: Oh wow, c Jordan Adison.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Okay, So now the guy and me, after seeing Will
- 27:39Speaker 3: Levis throw four touchdowns, would be like, let's go Will.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I feel like the football guys won't reward me though,
- 27:44Speaker 3: based on some of my pre draft commentary. However, I'm
- 27:47Speaker 3: kind of shake and I'm gonna say, Will Levis, let's go.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Let's see Will Levis can go and give you some
- 27:52Speaker 3: points this week for the Tennessee Titans.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Okay, all right, I like it. I'm gonna double check
- 27:57Speaker 1: and see who who my guy is playing here this
- 28:00Speaker 1: next one. I got a lot of love from Panthers fans,
- 28:03Speaker 1: by the way, is picking them to win last week.
- 28:05Speaker 1: There was not a lot of people on that Panthers bandwagon.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I believe buck they got their first one. I'm gonna
- 28:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna take I've got no choice really taking Bryce,
- 28:14Speaker 1: taking Bryce Young with my next pick. They are playing
- 28:18Speaker 1: against the Colts there at home, So I've got Bryce
- 28:21Speaker 1: Young with that pick. Now I need a pass catcher,
- 28:23Speaker 1: and I mean, why why go away from Pooka. When
- 28:27Speaker 1: Pooka has been this good to me, I'm gonna stick
- 28:29Speaker 1: with Pooka. Nakua that leaves you Buck, you are.
- 28:34Speaker 2: That that leaves me?
- 28:35Speaker 3: Well, I really don't have a choice because like the
- 28:37Speaker 3: way that I'm going, I can't take two Seahawks, I
- 28:39Speaker 3: don't want to take Jess and I feel like I've
- 28:40Speaker 3: rolled a dice in one last week. Let's go with
- 28:43Speaker 3: Zave Flowers to see if za Flowers can do something
- 28:45Speaker 3: this week.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Okay, I like it, and then gosh, hold on, I
- 28:51Speaker 1: think I'm hearing in my ear that I've got an
- 28:54Speaker 1: interesting pick from rhet here. He's got the running back
- 28:57Speaker 1: that he still needs. He is going to go with
- 29:00Speaker 1: Imari de Mercado from the Cardinals, who has one hundred
- 29:03Speaker 1: and ninety five rushing yards this year. He's got a touchdown,
- 29:07Speaker 1: So I believe that's the first time, right, first first
- 29:10Speaker 1: edition for him. Yeah, on the on the draft, so
- 29:13Speaker 1: de Marcatto, welcome. Rett's not here and he's swinging for
- 29:16Speaker 1: the fences. I don't know. Drew might have gone rogue
- 29:18Speaker 1: on that one. I don't know if Drew are you?
- 29:20Speaker 1: Are you ken?
- 29:22Speaker 3: We'll see, well, we'll see. Well, we'll see if Rhett
