- 0:00Speaker 1: The Mark Simon Show.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Onor Well, it's Friday, it's the final week. This is
- 0:12Speaker 2: the last seven days of winter and then it's spring.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Got that daylight saving time light out till seven, seven
- 0:20Speaker 2: to fifteen some nights. Well, we got a lot to
- 0:24Speaker 2: get to this hour, so we'll get to Iran in
- 0:27Speaker 2: a moment. To just update you on the crazy mayor.
- 0:29Speaker 2: This Mom Donnie is absolutely nuts. I mean, we knew
- 0:34Speaker 2: he was like a left wing socialist, antisemitic, all have
- 0:39Speaker 2: been on top of that, He's just nuts the things
- 0:42Speaker 2: he does. I mean it's just in the first few weeks.
- 0:44Speaker 2: He's only been here two months. Just look at some
- 0:49Speaker 2: of the things he said. Remember the terrible shooting of
- 0:51Speaker 2: the the nutjob, crazy maniac is out there, shoots the cop.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Mom Donnie rushes to the hospital to visit the shooter,
- 1:01Speaker 2: not the cop. We've never seen that before ever in history.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Goes to the hospital, visits the purp and make sure
- 1:08Speaker 2: he's okay. Have you ever heard of anything like that.
- 1:13Speaker 2: You're the mayor, this is your cop. You're a policeman
- 1:16Speaker 2: who was shot. You're supposed to visit him. You're not
- 1:19Speaker 2: supposed to go visit the purp. The shooter in the hospital.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Absolutely insane. Then he invites the worst guy in the world,
- 1:28Speaker 2: that terrorist supporter Khalil Mam, Mama, whatever his name is, Khalil,
- 1:34Speaker 2: who's at Colombia leading this anti Semitic, anti Israel charge.
- 1:39Speaker 2: There's this awful October seventh Holocaust that takes place in Israel.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Khalil supports it, he believes in it. Horrible, horrible guy.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Thank god the United States decided to deport this guy.
- 1:53Speaker 2: You can't get a green card visa. You can't be
- 1:57Speaker 2: given a green card to come to the US of
- 1:59Speaker 2: visa to come here and then try to just destroy
- 2:03Speaker 2: everything and everybody. And if it's about freedom of speech,
- 2:07Speaker 2: you got to say on your application, this is what
- 2:09Speaker 2: you stand for, that when you get here, you're going
- 2:11Speaker 2: to lead protests against Israel, against this, against it. But
- 2:14Speaker 2: he didn't say any He lied on his application, so
- 2:16Speaker 2: they were going to deport him. They had him detained,
- 2:19Speaker 2: he was in custody. You get a left wing wacko
- 2:22Speaker 2: judge who lets him out, which is not that's bad enough.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Then you get the mayor invites him to Gracie Mansion
- 2:30Speaker 2: to have dinner there. It's absolutely insane. Mom, Donnie's still
- 2:33Speaker 2: getting flak for that. Yesterday, tried to explain it.
- 2:35Speaker 1: When he was detained by ice agents, flown to Louisiana
- 2:40Speaker 1: and held in an ice facility, and he was held
- 2:43Speaker 1: there for months and the only charge that was levied
- 2:47Speaker 1: against him was the exercising of his First Amendment rights.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Well, actually no, it was leading all kinds of terrible disruptions.
- 2:55Speaker 2: And you know, if you hate us that much, don't
- 2:58Speaker 2: come here. Don't come here. You know, if you love
- 3:03Speaker 2: Hamas that much, go over there, go join them. But this,
- 3:06Speaker 2: Mam Donnie's just one crazy thing after another. Now the latest,
- 3:12Speaker 2: you know, there was some flack over the homeless. He
- 3:17Speaker 2: remember how bad things got in the month of February.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Remember that cold spell were like temperature the real field
- 3:24Speaker 2: temperature was like minus ten degrees. It was unbelievably cold.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And Mamdani orders the cops and all the agencies, don't
- 3:31Speaker 2: bother the homeless. If they want to stay out in
- 3:32Speaker 2: the street, let them stay out. And the result was
- 3:35Speaker 2: seventeen died out in the streets. So you got to
- 3:38Speaker 2: do something. You know, we have these shelters, and the
- 3:41Speaker 2: problem is you got politicians running and politicians whether it's
- 3:45Speaker 2: tablasi or types like that. They're just totally incompetent. I
- 3:48Speaker 2: mean they're nice guys. They can make a nice speech,
- 3:51Speaker 2: but they're not managers. They don't know how to run anything.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You know, they'll tell you, well, the shelter's not safe,
- 3:57Speaker 2: shelter is infested with rat. Well if that's the case,
- 4:04Speaker 2: go fix it. That happens all the time. You know.
- 4:06Speaker 2: When guys like Trump are the great builders of New York.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Sometimes they buy an old building and they you know,
- 4:13Speaker 2: that's how the meatpacking district started. When the great Irwin Cohen,
- 4:16Speaker 2: he bought the old Chelsea Market, it was all run down.
- 4:19Speaker 2: He ended up creating the meatpacking District, the most spectacular
- 4:22Speaker 2: thing in the world. But he used to tell me
- 4:23Speaker 2: when he bought it, it was disgusting. It was filled
- 4:27Speaker 2: with rats and roaches and drug dealers and hookers and junkies,
- 4:30Speaker 2: and it was a crack then. So if he had
- 4:34Speaker 2: the Diplasio approach, he'd say, oh, the boy, we can't
- 4:36Speaker 2: go in there. Nothing we can do. No, they went
- 4:39Speaker 2: in there and cleaned it out. You come in with
- 4:41Speaker 2: a lot of cops and a thousand exterminators and you
- 4:43Speaker 2: clean it out. And you fix it up. So you
- 4:46Speaker 2: could do that with these shelters, if they're that bad,
- 4:50Speaker 2: fix them. It's that if that were Rudy Giuliani, he'd
- 4:52Speaker 2: be back at the shelter the next day with forty
- 4:55Speaker 2: cops and fifty exterminators and they'd cleaned the place up,
- 4:59Speaker 2: and then you'd run the shelters. They're not safe. Put
- 5:02Speaker 2: some cops in there, make them sick. But politicians can't
- 5:05Speaker 2: figure that out. So what do you do with the homeless? Well, Mom,
- 5:07Speaker 2: Donnie just signed a contract yesterday for two billion dollars.
- 5:13Speaker 2: This is coming out of our paychecks, a contract for
- 5:17Speaker 2: two billion dollars to put the homeless in hotels. You
- 5:20Speaker 2: remember they did this with the illegals that came here.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Remember they Watson Hotel right up there on fifty seven
- 5:26Speaker 2: Street with the swimming pool on the roof and the
- 5:29Speaker 2: eight hundred dollars a night rooms. That's where they put
- 5:31Speaker 2: these illegal aliens. We paid for it out of our paychecks.
- 5:35Speaker 2: So now they're going to put the homeless in hotels.
- 5:38Speaker 2: They're even closing the men's shelter. It's two hundred and
- 5:41Speaker 2: fifty beds there can hold two hundred and fifty residents
- 5:45Speaker 2: on thirtieth Street, they're closing it. You could house people
- 5:51Speaker 2: there for a lot less money, but they're going to
- 5:54Speaker 2: spend two billion on hotel rooms. It's absolutely ridiculous. If
- 5:59Speaker 2: you ever tried to get a hotel room in Manhattan,
- 6:01Speaker 2: it's very expensive. It's a lot of money for hotel Manhattan.
- 6:04Speaker 2: You ever said, you know, I think we'll stay in
- 6:05Speaker 2: Manhattan one night. Dan, you look at the rates eight
- 6:08Speaker 2: hundred a night, one thousand a night. He said, I'm
- 6:11Speaker 2: not going to spend that. But here's the homeless getting
- 6:13Speaker 2: it for free. Now, why would you give a two
- 6:16Speaker 2: billion dollar contract to these hotels? Well, he may be stupid,
- 6:22Speaker 2: but he's like a real politician. Now he's getting to
- 6:24Speaker 2: be a real sleazy, corrupt politician. The reason you do that,
- 6:28Speaker 2: it's the big Hotel Association, which is one of the
- 6:32Speaker 2: biggest donors in politics, one of the biggest special interest
- 6:36Speaker 2: groups in New York, the Hotel Association. That's why politicians
- 6:41Speaker 2: love to give them multi billion dollar contracts. Multi billion
- 6:46Speaker 2: dollar contracts. Now here's the other problem, besides the fact
- 6:51Speaker 2: that you're overpaying like crazy to house the homeless. When
- 6:55Speaker 2: you give a billion dollar contracts, something happened during the
- 6:59Speaker 2: migrant crisis. When you when you take thousands and thousands
- 7:02Speaker 2: and thousands of hotel rooms for this purpose, you're taking
- 7:06Speaker 2: thousands and thousands of hotel rooms off the market, So
- 7:09Speaker 2: you're cutting down on the available number of hotel rooms
- 7:12Speaker 2: for tourists. And when you cut down the inventory, it
- 7:16Speaker 2: drives the price way up. So if it's eight hundred
- 7:19Speaker 2: a night for the hotel and you take five, six,
- 7:22Speaker 2: ten thousand rooms off the market, the price is going
- 7:25Speaker 2: to double on the hotels that are still on the markets.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Absolutely insane. Only an idiot would do that, or a
- 7:32Speaker 2: sleazy politician who needs to take care of special interest groups.
- 7:36Speaker 2: The Hotel Association is one of them. I mean, not
- 7:40Speaker 2: their fault, but they're big, big, huge donors. They take
- 7:42Speaker 2: care of politicians. And it's not just them, a lot
- 7:45Speaker 2: of these unions they get big, big contracts from these
- 7:49Speaker 2: politicians because they make big, big, big donations. Let's get
- 7:54Speaker 2: to the Nancy Guthrie case. There's a name you don't
- 7:57Speaker 2: hear anymore, Nancy Guthrie. Go watch your TV twenty four
- 8:00Speaker 2: to seven. You won't hear the name Nancy Guthrie anymore.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Did everybody just give up. Well, that crazy sheriff, his
- 8:08Speaker 2: name is Nanos, that local sheriff who looked like a
- 8:11Speaker 2: real bumbling and competent from the beginning. Besides bumbling and incompetent,
- 8:16Speaker 2: is starting to look sleezier and sleezier and sleezier, and
- 8:21Speaker 2: stuff is coming out about this guy. Way in the
- 8:23Speaker 2: past in his career, he's lied on his resume. In
- 8:27Speaker 2: earlier jobs he had, he got brought up on charges
- 8:29Speaker 2: for all sorts of crap, so he's not the most
- 8:33Speaker 2: reputable guy in the world. And then Yesterday makes this
- 8:35Speaker 2: bizarre statement, because what happened to Nancy Garthrie? Why have
- 8:39Speaker 2: we stopped talking about it? Why have we forgotten about it?
- 8:42Speaker 2: So this sheriff yesterday says, well, he thinks he knows
- 8:45Speaker 2: why she was targeted. In fact, he warns the suspect
- 8:49Speaker 2: could strike again. Well, if he has any idea what happened,
- 8:52Speaker 2: why is he telling us? Why would you make such
- 8:55Speaker 2: a real, weird, mysterious statement like that. You're the sheriff.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I think I know what happened, and let us know.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Tell us there are some people, now this sounds a
- 9:07Speaker 2: little crazy, but there are some people now that think
- 9:09Speaker 2: he was involved somehow, or that he knew the people involved,
- 9:14Speaker 2: something like that. I have no evidence of that, and
- 9:16Speaker 2: it sounds crazy to me, but there are some people
- 9:20Speaker 2: that now are starting to believe that, Hey, the Department
- 9:23Speaker 2: of Justice issued a big correction, you know, the Muller Report,
- 9:27Speaker 2: that crazy Muller Report. This is hard to believe, but
- 9:30Speaker 2: ten years ago Democrats got so upset about Trump getting
- 9:34Speaker 2: elected that they've concocted one of the worst hoaxes ever
- 9:38Speaker 2: on the American public. It was the Russia collusion hoax.
- 9:43Speaker 2: They actually tried to convince people that Trump was some
- 9:45Speaker 2: sort of Russian agent, He was involved with the Russians.
- 9:49Speaker 2: He and Putin, they were colluding on stealing the election,
- 9:53Speaker 2: and they tried to convince everybody that Trump didn't win,
- 9:56Speaker 2: Russia actually tampered with the election. Now, you always get
- 10:00Speaker 2: some election denying through the years, Kennedy, Nixon, there's elections
- 10:05Speaker 2: where a lot of fraud took place, and it's always
- 10:08Speaker 2: brought up. There's a bunch of examples. Kerry claimed that
- 10:12Speaker 2: with Bush and all that. But this was the biggest
- 10:15Speaker 2: case of election denial ever, trying to claim Russia stole
- 10:19Speaker 2: the election, and it led to the Mueller investigation, the
- 10:23Speaker 2: Mueller witch hunt, which spent one hundred and fifty million
- 10:26Speaker 2: of taxpayer money and found absolutely no evidence anywhere of
- 10:32Speaker 2: any Russian collusion. Nothing. They found no evidence of Russia
- 10:37Speaker 2: tampering with the election. The only thing they came up
- 10:40Speaker 2: with they found that Russian bots or something spent one
- 10:45Speaker 2: hundred thousand on Facebook ads. Now that is absolutely nothing.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Big restaurants in Manhattan spent one hundred thousand on Facebook ads.
- 10:55Speaker 2: It's nothing. The campaigns each spent like two three hundred
- 10:59Speaker 2: million on Facebook ads, one hundred thousand on Facebook edds.
- 11:03Speaker 2: It is not going to do anything to affect anything
- 11:05Speaker 2: in the election. So the whole thing was a hoax. Well,
- 11:08Speaker 2: now the Department of Justice, going through the Muller report,
- 11:11Speaker 2: has issued a huge correction in it. You remember there
- 11:14Speaker 2: was the story about Russia was blackmailing Trump because there
- 11:18Speaker 2: was a video of his stay in a Moscow hotel
- 11:22Speaker 2: room where he was with two prostitutes and there were
- 11:25Speaker 2: golden showers that remember that, this ridiculous, preposterous story about
- 11:31Speaker 2: this ridiculous video tape. It never happened, there's no video,
- 11:35Speaker 2: but they said it was a Russian intelligence agent They
- 11:38Speaker 2: even named the guy Russian intelligence agent that was behind
- 11:43Speaker 2: this tape, Russian intelligence agent that was to help create
- 11:47Speaker 2: this whole Russia connection. Well they've corrected it now because
- 11:50Speaker 2: the guy whose name is Georgi rich Strich Zaldi, whatever
- 11:55Speaker 2: his name is here, it turns out he's not Russian.
- 11:57Speaker 2: He was an American, and he's originally a Georgie, but
- 12:00Speaker 2: he's an American and he wasn't Russian, had nothing to
- 12:03Speaker 2: do with Russia. So that correction being put out yesterday
- 12:07Speaker 2: by the Department of Justice, first time we're ever hearing
- 12:11Speaker 2: about that. Hey, you know, taxes in New York. They
- 12:14Speaker 2: keep wanting to raise taxes. They keep wanting to raise
- 12:16Speaker 2: taxes on the rich, raise taxes on everybody because they
- 12:20Speaker 2: keep claiming, we just don't have enough money. The budget,
- 12:22Speaker 2: the budget, we're short of money, we have a short
- 12:25Speaker 2: New York City Council wants to boost its own budget
- 12:28Speaker 2: by ten percent ten percent. It's one hundred and fifteen
- 12:33Speaker 2: million a year. What the hell would cost one hundred
- 12:35Speaker 2: and fifteen million a year for the city council. They
- 12:38Speaker 2: want to raise it to about one hundred and thirty
- 12:40Speaker 2: million a year. Absolutely ridiculous. They want to add fifty
- 12:44Speaker 2: seven new jobs city council. They got a meeting room,
- 12:50Speaker 2: they got that long desk with the microphones. They show up,
- 12:53Speaker 2: they talk, they vote. That's all you need. Why would
- 12:56Speaker 2: you need hundreds and hundreds of employees for this, And
- 12:59Speaker 2: they want to add fifth fifty seven new jobs legal
- 13:02Speaker 2: and professional contracts of the eighteen new jobs just for
- 13:07Speaker 2: the city council speaker. What the hell would they need
- 13:09Speaker 2: eighteen new people for? Absolutely ridiculous. Hey, if people tell
- 13:14Speaker 2: you everybody's leaving New York, you hear that all the
- 13:17Speaker 2: time from people. Everybody I know is leaving New York.
- 13:20Speaker 2: People are fleeing New York. It's absolutely not true. There
- 13:23Speaker 2: are more people moving in than moving out. In fact,
- 13:27Speaker 2: the condo co op market, especially the high end, it's
- 13:31Speaker 2: more contracts closed last month than usual the month before,
- 13:35Speaker 2: more contracts closed than the year before. And when it
- 13:38Speaker 2: comes to rentals, and that's the best way to tell,
- 13:41Speaker 2: because a lot of people when they move for the
- 13:43Speaker 2: first time in New York, new people coming in usually
- 13:45Speaker 2: will rent first. They'll rent and then maybe a year later,
- 13:50Speaker 2: if they like it, they'll buy something. But the rental
- 13:52Speaker 2: market is the way you tell the rental market is
- 13:55Speaker 2: through the roof. In fact, it's very tough to rent
- 13:57Speaker 2: anything right now. In fact, we've set a new record
- 14:01Speaker 2: for declines in available homes. There's very very little inventory,
- 14:06Speaker 2: a new record for how many rentals are going on.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It's a massive boom. It's driving the price up. You know,
- 14:15Speaker 2: we see the price of rentals. One reason is so
- 14:17Speaker 2: many people are moving here. There's very very very very
- 14:21Speaker 2: little inventory. So don't fall for all that stuff. Now
- 14:24Speaker 2: people are moving out of Washington State. This is what
- 14:30Speaker 2: happens when you try to go soak the rich or
- 14:33Speaker 2: target billionaires. So they wrought Washington State, putting in this
- 14:37Speaker 2: new tax lots, an extra ten percent tax anybody making
- 14:41Speaker 2: over a million dollars a year. The founder, creator of Starbucks,
- 14:46Speaker 2: which is probably the most famous Washington State company, well
- 14:49Speaker 2: maybe Microsoft, but Starbucks just a symbol of Washington State.
- 14:54Speaker 2: The chairman, the founder, Howard Schultz, Sissy's leaving Washington the
- 14:57Speaker 2: day before that tax starts, because you know, if you've
- 15:01Speaker 2: got one hundred million and the tax is ten million,
- 15:04Speaker 2: you're handing ten million to the government just to squander it,
- 15:08Speaker 2: just to waste it. If you're a guy like Howard Schultz.
- 15:11Speaker 2: It's not that you're greedy, but if you've got an
- 15:14Speaker 2: extra tax, it's gonna be an extra twenty million. You'd
- 15:17Speaker 2: rather give that to your kids, You'd rather give that
- 15:20Speaker 2: to a charity. You'd rather donate that to a hospital.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Why would you want to give it to some sleezeball
- 15:24Speaker 2: politicians who are going to waste the twenty million? So
- 15:28Speaker 2: I don't blame him. He's leaving, he's moving to Florida. Hey,
- 15:31Speaker 2: we'll take some calls. Next. Eight hundred three two one
- 15:34Speaker 2: zero seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two
- 15:38Speaker 2: one zero seven ten
