- 0:03Speaker 1: And here we go. It's the third hour of the
- 0:04Speaker 1: morning show. Great to be with you Tuesday, May the thirteenth, unbelievable.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Before you know it, we are going to be shopping
- 0:11Speaker 1: for Christmas and putting up the tree.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yep.
- 0:16Speaker 1: OSE's over there in Studio one A. I'm here in
- 0:18Speaker 1: Studio one B, and I am joined once again by
- 0:21Speaker 1: our friend from the Heartland Institute. He is an author,
- 0:24Speaker 1: he's a researcher, works with Glenn Beck on his books.
- 0:27Speaker 1: He is Justin Haskins. Hello, Justin. How are you.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I'm doing very well. How are you?
- 0:33Speaker 1: I am terrific. We have been talking all morning about
- 0:37Speaker 1: the polling that you did with Rasmusen, and let me
- 0:41Speaker 1: just start with this. What is the most disturbing result
- 0:47Speaker 1: in the poll to you?
- 0:49Speaker 2: I think that did you get to the elon Musk?
- 0:51Speaker 1: We did? We sure did, Okay.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I would say that that one is probably the most
- 0:57Speaker 2: disturbing one. I mean, there are many choose from, but
- 1:01Speaker 2: I would say that I would say that that one's
- 1:03Speaker 2: the most disturbing one. The idea that you would have
- 1:05Speaker 2: seven and ten Democrats say that they would if they
- 1:11Speaker 2: could put elon Musk in path a law that would
- 1:14Speaker 2: put Elon Musk in prison? Is I think it's perfectly
- 1:20Speaker 2: indictive of where the left is in this country today.
- 1:24Speaker 2: In this poll, which is really amazing about this pole
- 1:28Speaker 2: question was seven and ten Democrats say that Elon Musk
- 1:32Speaker 2: should go to jail, he should be imprisoned, and that
- 1:36Speaker 2: it should happen. Very specifically in the question, it says
- 1:40Speaker 2: this for his work at DOGE. That's the question, would
- 1:44Speaker 2: you support a law that would imprison Elon Musk for
- 1:47Speaker 2: his work at DOGE, not for some other thing. So
- 1:51Speaker 2: it's not like you could say, well, maybe they were
- 1:53Speaker 2: just imagining some other violation of the law that we've
- 1:56Speaker 2: never heard of, some conspiracy theory or something like that.
- 1:59Speaker 2: It can't be that we specifically said for his work
- 2:02Speaker 2: at DOGE. And so what this tells you is a
- 2:05Speaker 2: few different things. One it tells you that putting government
- 2:10Speaker 2: spending is, to borrow a phrase from the left, an
- 2:13Speaker 2: existential crisis for the left. Clearly, very clearly that's the case.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Another thing that this very clearly shows us is that
- 2:22Speaker 2: this sort of authoritarianism that we saw with Donald Trump
- 2:27Speaker 2: and this sort of desire to throw Trump in prison
- 2:31Speaker 2: for years, the Russian collusion conspiracy theories and all of
- 2:34Speaker 2: that stuff wasn't just limited to Trump. It's not just
- 2:38Speaker 2: limited to him anymore. It wasn't a one off thing. Well,
- 2:42Speaker 2: they bought it with Donald Trump, but they probably wouldn't
- 2:45Speaker 2: buy it with anybody else. It seems like we're reaching
- 2:48Speaker 2: a moment in American politics where anybody who becomes prominent
- 2:55Speaker 2: on the right, if they're deemed a threat by the media,
- 3:00Speaker 2: not because they did something illegal, but just because they
- 3:04Speaker 2: don't like the policy right, then that justifies putting them
- 3:07Speaker 2: in jail and passing a law to put a single
- 3:11Speaker 2: person in jail. It's just an incredible thing to support.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Just In and of his own size, even if he
- 3:19Speaker 2: was committing crimes. You should never support a law that's
- 3:22Speaker 2: designed to just put one person in jail. I mean,
- 3:25Speaker 2: this is just absolutely incredible what's happening on the left.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Back with Justin Haskins of the Heartland Institute talking about
- 3:35Speaker 1: polling that we have discussed this morning. This was our
- 3:39Speaker 1: big stories in the press box. Justin these polls and
- 3:43Speaker 1: the results inside of them are remarkable on a lot
- 3:47Speaker 1: of fronts. There are a few areas that are a
- 3:49Speaker 1: little more heartwarming. We'll get to those, but they're not
- 3:52Speaker 1: a lot of them. Why do you think democrats are
- 3:56Speaker 1: so disconnected from I don't even know what word to use,
- 4:01Speaker 1: but so focused on vendettas and vengeance and in this case,
- 4:06Speaker 1: just not liking that this guy's uncovering waste in government.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think there's a lot of a
- 4:14Speaker 2: lot of reasons for it. I think the most sort
- 4:17Speaker 2: of obvious reason on the surface is that the media
- 4:21Speaker 2: on the left paints the right as you know, especially Nazis.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I mean they literally called the Elon Muska Nazi. They
- 4:31Speaker 2: you know, tried to put Donald Trump in jail numerous times.
- 4:34Speaker 2: They said that he was a dictator. They use terms
- 4:38Speaker 2: that if you believe them, if you take them literally,
- 4:41Speaker 2: then you know, why aren't you putting the Nazi in jail?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Why aren't you putting the dictator in jail? Why is
- 4:48Speaker 2: the dictator able to escape all these you know, these convictions,
- 4:53Speaker 2: these forty plus convictions, felony counts and things like that
- 4:56Speaker 2: that Donald Trump had. I mean, I think that's I
- 4:59Speaker 2: think that the big part of it. I think you
- 5:01Speaker 2: have the educational system, of course, is radicalized younger people
- 5:06Speaker 2: who are much more likely by the way to support,
- 5:09Speaker 2: you know, all of these crazy policies in the polls,
- 5:13Speaker 2: and I just think that there's a radicalization there. But
- 5:16Speaker 2: I think fundamentally the biggest issue, if you're going to
- 5:19Speaker 2: get to the root cause of all of it, is
- 5:21Speaker 2: that I don't I think the left has just completely
- 5:25Speaker 2: adopted the ends justify the means, and I don't think
- 5:30Speaker 2: that they're guided by sort of these overarching principles of liberty.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Even for the other side. I think that their ideology is, now,
- 5:42Speaker 2: we get to have liberty because we're good guys, and
- 5:45Speaker 2: everyone who disagrees with us, depending on how much they
- 5:49Speaker 2: disagree with us, they don't get to have liberty because
- 5:52Speaker 2: they're too dangerous to have it. And this is the
- 5:55Speaker 2: fundamental problem. See, I don't want to silence anybody on
- 5:59Speaker 2: the left. Are how crazy they are, right, I actually
- 6:02Speaker 2: love listening to the crazies on the left, It's one
- 6:04Speaker 2: of my favorite things to do. But they want to
- 6:07Speaker 2: silence the people on the right with whom they don't agree,
- 6:10Speaker 2: and not all of them, obviously, but a huge chunk
- 6:12Speaker 2: of them do.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Well, that's the irony of it all. Justin is the
- 6:15Speaker 1: Party of Inclusivity, is in fact the most exclusive. The
- 6:19Speaker 1: party that is the big tent is actually the smallest tent.
- 6:22Speaker 1: You either agree or you're out, you know what. I'm
- 6:25Speaker 1: reminded of the fact, you know, Elon Musk was one
- 6:28Speaker 1: of their guys when he was just making electrical vehicles
- 6:31Speaker 1: and staying in his lane. I'm reminded that Donald Trump
- 6:35Speaker 1: was a Democrat. I'm reminded of a guy named Brandon
- 6:37Speaker 1: Stroco who founded the walk Away campaign. They were all
- 6:41Speaker 1: in the club until they weren't, and boy when they
- 6:44Speaker 1: were put out of it, they were put out big.
- 6:47Speaker 2: That's right. Well, they're traders now, Preston. And what do
- 6:50Speaker 2: you do with traders? You lock them up with them
- 6:53Speaker 2: in jail. I think, I honestly think there's a degree.
- 6:56Speaker 2: You know, we saw that, and we've seen this before
- 6:58Speaker 2: with Clarence Thomas than other people. Right, when you are
- 7:02Speaker 2: part of a group who's supposed to be holding specific
- 7:06Speaker 2: ideological views supporting certain candidates on the left and you don't,
- 7:10Speaker 2: you are treated much more harshly than someone who just
- 7:14Speaker 2: was never in that group or isn't part of a
- 7:16Speaker 2: demographic that's supposed to be on the left. And I
- 7:20Speaker 2: think that this is because it's a huge threat to them.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I mean, it's a huge threat to see people like
- 7:24Speaker 2: Elon Musk move on from the left. They can't have
- 7:28Speaker 2: that across the board or else they're in huge.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Trouble joining us. Justin Haskins from the Heartlands Institute, tell me,
- 7:35Speaker 1: give me something in this poll that is not so horrible.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Sure, okay, So did you get to the questions about socialism?
- 7:44Speaker 1: We yeah, And that struck me as odd though, given
- 7:48Speaker 1: that they that seventy percent don't think it's a good thing,
- 7:53Speaker 1: or what's the number, thirty two percent hope China wins.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Seventy one percent think free markets better than socialists them.
- 8:00Speaker 1: But yet there's this but that's in there.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, seventy percent say they prefer a free market
- 8:09Speaker 2: system over socialism. I think only eighteen percent eighteen percent
- 8:15Speaker 2: said they had a favorable view of communism. But then
- 8:19Speaker 2: when you get to questions about candidates in twenty twenty
- 8:23Speaker 2: eight election, we asked very specifically, would you like to
- 8:27Speaker 2: see a Democratic socialist candidate win the next presidential election?
- 8:31Speaker 2: Although only thirty one percent overall said yes, which is
- 8:35Speaker 2: a good thing, forty six percent said no, I don't
- 8:37Speaker 2: want that. Among younger people, especially the percentages were much
- 8:42Speaker 2: much higher. Fifty percent of eighteen to twenty nine year
- 8:45Speaker 2: old said they do want a Democratic socialist candidate to
- 8:48Speaker 2: win the next election. Forty percent of those between thirty
- 8:51Speaker 2: to thirty nine, So we're talking about gen Z and
- 8:53Speaker 2: millennials pretty much universally saying they have a really high
- 8:57Speaker 2: favorability of Democratics socialists. In fact, even the thirty to
- 9:02Speaker 2: thirty nine year olds, forty percent said yes, only thirty
- 9:05Speaker 2: eight percent said no, twenty two said not sure. So
- 9:09Speaker 2: there were support for both those groups very, very high.
- 9:12Speaker 2: So in the next election, that's not necessarily a crisis
- 9:17Speaker 2: for the right, but it is a crisis for the
- 9:20Speaker 2: right if you're looking down the road, say ten, ten years,
- 9:23Speaker 2: twenty years, something like that. Now, now that's the primary
- 9:27Speaker 2: voting demographic, those two groups together, and if you assume
- 9:31Speaker 2: that the next young generation also has a favorable view
- 9:35Speaker 2: of it, now you just are completely screwed.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Final segment here with Justin Haskins of the Heartland Institute,
- 9:43Speaker 1: a poll with Heartland and Rasmussen talking about a couple
- 9:46Speaker 1: of different things, well actually a lot of things, but
- 9:49Speaker 1: really boiled down and distilled Democrats supporting the idea of
- 9:52Speaker 1: imprisoning Elon Musk solely because he's leading Doge. The irony
- 9:58Speaker 1: is just unbelievable on so many levels. There, and then
- 10:02Speaker 1: the idea here is that socialism continues to hold a
- 10:07Speaker 1: place in young people's ideals. And Justin I was asking
- 10:11Speaker 1: you in the break, it seems that the last election
- 10:15Speaker 1: showed young men swinging to the right really supporting Donald Trump.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Can you extrapolate or maybe theorized, does this mean that
- 10:24Speaker 1: the real issue here with the younger voters is with
- 10:27Speaker 1: primarily young women.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Well, in our particular poll, we don't have enough data
- 10:32Speaker 2: to be able to pull a sample size large enough
- 10:35Speaker 2: to get an answer to that question. But I think overall,
- 10:38Speaker 2: I think there's been a lot of work done on
- 10:40Speaker 2: that that shows clearly that is the case. I mean,
- 10:44Speaker 2: I think that, and I don't think it's surprising. Right,
- 10:48Speaker 2: younger women are being told that they're the ones being oppressed,
- 10:51Speaker 2: They're the ones whose rights are being taken away. There's
- 10:53Speaker 2: all this structural bias against women, and young men are
- 11:00Speaker 2: being to old, especially young white men are being told
- 11:03Speaker 2: that they're the problem. There's toxic masculinity.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but transsexualism is taking all the women's spaces
- 11:10Speaker 1: and attacking women. That's the disconnect I don't get.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Well. The left has always had a degree of schizophrenia
- 11:18Speaker 2: in it, and no one in the left seems to notice.
- 11:22Speaker 2: But it never made sense to have radical feminism. It
- 11:26Speaker 2: never made sense to have radical feminism in the same
- 11:29Speaker 2: group with the Islamicists. Those two things don't belong together,
- 11:34Speaker 2: and yet they've they haven't had a problem with that
- 11:36Speaker 2: for for decades. This is a this is an ideology.
- 11:41Speaker 2: This tent is it's not even just a big tent,
- 11:44Speaker 2: it's it's a tent that makes no sense at all
- 11:47Speaker 2: when you have had breaking down all yeah, it just
- 11:50Speaker 2: makes no sense. But ultimately, what they all have in
- 11:53Speaker 2: common is a perception that they are oppressed by this
- 11:58Speaker 2: sort of establishment or by some other group of people,
- 12:02Speaker 2: and that they're all banding together to stop the oppressors.
- 12:06Speaker 2: That's what they all have in common, and I think
- 12:08Speaker 2: with younger women, that's the narrative that they've been told
- 12:11Speaker 2: over and over and over again. We're seeing the same
- 12:13Speaker 2: trend play out, by the way, in Europe. When you
- 12:15Speaker 2: look at European elections, there has been a huge movement
- 12:19Speaker 2: on the right amongst younger men and older people are
- 12:24Speaker 2: actually becoming a little bit more likely to vote for
- 12:27Speaker 2: the establishment over there for the left than and younger
- 12:32Speaker 2: men tend to be more likely to go towards the right.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Young women still are supporting the left, And I just
- 12:39Speaker 2: think that it goes into this oppressor sort of mentality.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I don't think that women universally have been convinced that
- 12:47Speaker 2: they are oppressed, younger women to the degree that they
- 12:50Speaker 2: are right now. And it all goes back to education,
- 12:52Speaker 2: to colleges. It all goes back to the media and
- 12:55Speaker 2: Hollywood and everyone giving the same walking in lockstep with
- 12:59Speaker 2: the same messaging. If you do it over and over
- 13:02Speaker 2: and over again, people eventually believe it.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Justin inside this same polling you you talk about the
- 13:08Speaker 1: tariff war. Here in the polling, and a plurality, it
- 13:12Speaker 1: would appear of Democrat voters thirty two percent actually want
- 13:16Speaker 1: China to win. I take it this is largely more
- 13:21Speaker 1: than likely to simply spike Trump.
- 13:25Speaker 2: I love this question because it makes absolutely no sense
- 13:28Speaker 2: for anyone to root for a foreign country to beat
- 13:31Speaker 2: their own country in anything. But that's exactly what's going
- 13:35Speaker 2: on with Democrats. What it shows very clearly is that
- 13:41Speaker 2: the left would rather see the Trump administration fail than
- 13:45Speaker 2: see America succeed. And it all goes back to the
- 13:48Speaker 2: same sort of hyperpartisanship that exists. I understand there's a
- 13:51Speaker 2: lot of partisanship on the right as well, sure, but
- 13:54Speaker 2: not to the degree that we see. In this poll.
- 13:56Speaker 2: By the way, thirty eight percent of Democrats, thirty two
- 13:59Speaker 2: percent said they want Trump to win, thirty or sorry.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Thirty two percent of Democrats said they wanted China to win.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Thirty percent said Trump, thirty eight percent said not sure.
- 14:11Speaker 2: So that just goes to show you, I think gives
- 14:13Speaker 2: a lot of people who they know that they should
- 14:17Speaker 2: say Trump, but they're not going to say to Trump.
- 14:20Speaker 2: They can't bring themselves to say China either, so they're
- 14:23Speaker 2: just going to say we're not sure. They just can't
- 14:26Speaker 2: stomach the thought of signing their name to the Trump administration,
- 14:30Speaker 2: even when they know that they should do it.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Justin you keep being you, brother, Thanks so very much
- 14:37Speaker 1: for all you're doing, and I appreciate your time as always.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Thank you, sir, I appreciate it.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Thank you. Justin Haskins with us this morning on the
- 14:44Speaker 1: Morning Show
