- 0:06of this legendary podcast, the Deconstructing Topic Podcast.
- 0:10We got a little short one once again, just a little quick announcement,
- 0:14as we are here in New York City.
- 0:17It's the Puerto Rican Parade Weekend, this Sunday coming up,
- 0:20and then we got the Street Festival in 116th Street in Harlem out there.
- 0:25Let me make it happen And your boy Deconstructing Topic Podcast Will definitely
- 0:29be there And I'm 99.9% sure Leading to 100% That one little one 10% It's just
- 0:37that I saw a little drops And I'm not afraid of the rain But the rain in New
- 0:41York City Is a little bit different Than the rain in Puerto Rico,
- 0:45But we know But we ready We be there Rain, snow.
- 0:50It ain't gonna be snow But you never know With this type of
- 0:52climate But hey They're gonna be there 110 111
- 0:56street probably doing something interesting because
- 0:59you know the festival to me the 160 street
- 1:03festival my understanding this is the 40th year
- 1:06so that means that i've been in this country for x amount of time so you know
- 1:12i always hear the festival and i always enjoy the festival because there's a
- 1:17lot of food there's a lot of a lot of beautiful things that's out there a lot
- 1:21of vendors selling good stuff, selling the food,
- 1:24selling shirts, selling hats, selling flags,
- 1:27selling all that, buttons, all that.
- 1:29Just want to give a shout out to a couple of people, a couple of vendors.
- 1:33And Sister and Arms will be at 110, 111th Street on 3rd Avenue.
- 1:38Mias Cocinas will make some good Al Capura, make some good bacalao.
- 1:43Those bacalaos the size of, whew, and I enjoy that.
- 1:47So I'm going to be stationed probably there for the most part,
- 1:52but I'll be walking back and forth because we also,
- 1:56I'm going to say I'm also going to be promoting the fact that we have a fundraiser,
- 2:02the Latino caucus, the SEIU international, Latino caucus.
- 2:06We're having a fundraiser Saturday, June 14th from six to 10 tickets to the
- 2:11event costs $50 and includes food and two drinks.
- 2:15And once again, I'll put the link to the information there. So it's going to
- 2:19be interesting. I'm going to be out there with tickets.
- 2:22Join, if you can, your boy, The Constructing Topic. We'll be there,
- 2:26whatever the text might be.
- 2:28Want to take pictures? Want to meet me? All that good stuff. Hey, listen.
- 2:32You want to see how handsome the deconstructing topic guy is?
- 2:36Hey, I'll be there. Your host. Woo.
- 2:39And I'm definitely going to be one of those people that you sound like the way
- 2:44you sound. And you sound just in person. Just as you're in your podcast.
- 2:48And there's people that told me that, wow, you sound like a podcast.
- 2:52You mean the podcast sound like me?
- 2:55But anyways, I'll be there Enjoying some good food Definitely, it's going to be nice,
- 3:01Hopefully, you know The weather's going to be cloudy I know that there's a little
- 3:04They say 80 chance of rain But at my understanding It's only going to rain for like an hour
- 3:11I think that's from 12 to 1 Normally, I like to be there In these events a little
- 3:17bit closer I mean, I'm not going to say closer Because the event is from 10 to 5,
- 3:22But I like to be there early just for me to know where I'm going to be at,
- 3:27where's my little station, where's my go-to spot.
- 3:30I like to travel. I mean, I like to walk from, you know, 116 all the way to
- 3:35110 or whatever the case might be and then support some of the vendors.
- 3:39There's another vendor, reached out to me, Ezequiel. He was doing,
- 3:43he was selling these hats,
- 3:46a spray-pending hat, different people, Roberto Clemente, you know,
- 3:50icons from Puerto Rico, Hector Lavo and so
- 3:54on Bad Bunny so I know that I
- 3:57you know we exchange information but not committed
- 4:00yet it's people that you know have the vending thing
- 4:04going on with the license and all and then there's all those little independent
- 4:09kind of vendors that nobody knows hey by all means it's all fun it's all for
- 4:15the goodness of Puerto Rico and you man it's hey let's go Oh!
- 4:22I'm excited. There's also some certain vendors that sell the beverage, you know what I mean?
- 4:29And, you know, hey, listen, by all means, last year I came across a young brother.
- 4:35And, hey, listen, even though it's a Puerto Rican festival, this festival is open for anybody.
- 4:41By all means, if you love good food, if you love good drink,
- 4:45if you love good environment, if you love good music, If you just love good
- 4:49vibes, hey, by all means, and a young brother, I remember his little cooler.
- 4:55Hey, listen, wink, wink, you know what he got in that cooler?
- 5:00And I'm not asking the question. I'm making a statement. You know what's in
- 5:03that cooler. You know, we got the adult stuff.
- 5:06And one of those things, hey, listen, I remember he did his own little cocktail,
- 5:10Passion Fruit, and that was slamming.
- 5:13Matter of fact, it was so good that before I went home, I was looking for the
- 5:16young brother. I came across and he's like, all right, what's up, brother?
- 5:20He's like, yeah, yo, what's up? You don't go no more of that passion food,
- 5:23that pie chart cocktail that you made.
- 5:25And the young brother said, no, but next time I got you, hopefully he'll remember me when I'm there.
- 5:32Yo, welcome, brother. Let's make it happen.
- 5:36Again, I'll be there with the flies and all the tickets.
- 5:40You know, we making it happen for the fundraiser for those at Rising from the
- 5:46Ashes, It's the Latino Solidarity for the Fire Victims in California.
- 5:51You know, there's still a lot of people, you know, sadly, you know,
- 5:54when it comes to a situation like that, there are those organizations.
- 5:59And we're talking about organizations, big organizations.
- 6:01They want to do these concerts. They want to do all this and all that.
- 6:05And at the end of the day, they don't do anything.
- 6:07They fundraise and they don't do, no, this fundraiser is going to be making
- 6:11sure that the proceeds go to those families that are in need and still in need.
- 6:16And still need our help over there in California.
- 6:20Maybe one of these days, I definitely would make a little travel to California.
- 6:23Hey, listen, it's a trip that I never took, but hey, let's make it happen.
- 6:27The other thing, too, we got the parade going on.
- 6:32And, you know, sometimes the parade, there's a lot of Puerto Ricans that do
- 6:36attend the parade, a lot of people.
- 6:38But there's a lot of, I just want to mention this, and I don't want to take
- 6:42away nothing from the parade.
- 6:43Because sometimes, how can I say, the parade becomes a little bit too mainstream.
- 6:47And sometimes it takes away kind of like, hey, why are you there?
- 6:50Whatever the case might be.
- 6:52And by all means, everybody got their opinion.
- 6:55I got my opinion. My thing is this, when it comes to certain things,
- 7:00it's just that, hey, listen, I get it. I get it.
- 7:02It's basically a lot of sponsorship, a lot of things going on there.
- 7:06Then I'm like, okay, okay, I get it. By all means, enjoy.
- 7:09But I also just want to mention that there are going to be, I know people,
- 7:13some of my brothers and sisters, they go to Orchard Beach, Orchard Beach in
- 7:17the Bronx. Hey, let's go.
- 7:19You already know there's going to be some musical. There's a lot of places throughout
- 7:23New York City where either they'll have their own little thing or,
- 7:29you know, during the parade, or they will have their own little thing after the parade.
- 7:33Whatever the case, enjoy Sunday. Enjoy the festivities.
- 7:37Be calm. Do your thing. Be responsible. If you're going to do the little smoke,
- 7:42smoke, you already know, puff, puff, whatever the case they call it now.
- 7:47If you're going to do the drinking, be safe out there.
- 7:51Always be responsible. If you owe those people out there that are going to do
- 7:55some driving, make sure that you take somebody who will not be under the influence.
- 8:02Please stay safe. That's for sure. That's one of those things.
- 8:04So by all means, for those people out there that might not be too interesting,
- 8:09the parade gets too crowded, whatever the case might be.
- 8:12Hey, there's other festivities throughout New York City where they'll be celebrating
- 8:17that Puerto Rican culture, tradition, whatever it is.
- 8:21Yaduzai, bami, gente, woo, let's get it.
- 8:25The other thing, too, I want to bring up. my understanding
- 8:28there's some certain news that has been circulating and
- 8:31it's more or less you know puerto
- 8:34rican news that basically i want to just touch real quick um
- 8:37it's something where there has been a report of some sort
- 8:40that tourists for some reason in puerto rico they have decided that you know
- 8:46they can't sleep the coqui which is the national animal it's a icon it's what
- 8:52represent little little coqui it's a it's a little frog like an animal that
- 8:57if you are living in Puerto Rico,
- 8:59in the night, you hear the boop-beep, boop-beep, you know what I mean?
- 9:04It's a beautiful sound because you know you're somewhere different.
- 9:10And I enjoy that sound because it's very relaxing and it makes me feel like I'm at home.
- 9:17And sometimes that even last night, I'm living in New York City,
- 9:22I go on and find some cookie sounds to go to sleep on. Boop-beep with some rain. Boop-beep.
- 9:29Boop-beep. So if the story is true that there are tourists, and I think that
- 9:35they alluded that these are American tourists.
- 9:39If the story is true, that these individuals wanted to supposedly spray these
- 9:46cookies to kill them because they're being annoyed, you know,
- 9:50I like to think that the story's not true. You know what I mean?
- 9:54I like to think that because sometimes, you know, that gets,
- 9:57so it seems that these news has kind of like spread throughout the socials,
- 10:00gone viral in our community and so on.
- 10:04And I say it's this, you know, sadly.
- 10:07You know There are people that For some reason go to places Not for the sake
- 10:14of Let me enjoy what this place have And you know I'm going to probably Say
- 10:19that This is more true to many Americans,
- 10:24America is beautiful But there are people that are A little bit different you
- 10:27know So you go to these places You go to Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic,
- 10:32Go to these other countries And there's a This kind of sense of I'm American,
- 10:38America's this, America's, and you kind of feel like you can do anything you
- 10:42want in another foreign territory.
- 10:45Yes, Puerto Rico, sadly, you know, and I say sadly because, you know,
- 10:49it's one of those Puerto Rican status where Puerto Rico is United States, right?
- 10:55In the sense of it belongs to the United States.
- 10:58So there's going to be some Americans that might go to the island and say,
- 11:03hey, listen, well, I'm in Puerto Rico, but it's still my country.
- 11:06You know what I mean? We own this country. We own this land.
- 11:09I want, you know, people to kind of like, you know, I wish that a lot of Americans,
- 11:16because I always say that, you know, sometimes, how can I say?
- 11:20America, you know, there's a lot of Americans that feel like,
- 11:22hey, listen, America's like, if that's like the son of the universe, you know what I mean?
- 11:27Just relax. You go to another country, it doesn't matter whether you're in the
- 11:31United States, you go to another state, or whatever the case.
- 11:34But when you go to another country, whether it's Canada, Mexico,
- 11:37the Caribbean, South America, whatever it is, you know, don't feel,
- 11:41just enjoy what's there, what you're listening to.
- 11:43Enjoy it. You're going to another place so you know that whatever it is,
- 11:46if you go to Europe, you go to certain parts of Europe, Scandinavia,
- 11:50it's going to be cloudy. Are you going to complain?
- 11:52Well, you know, in this country, they need a sun, you know.
- 11:55I'm just saying, relax. And especially if you're going to feel like that certain
- 12:00kind of sense of, supremacy that, you know, wherever you go,
- 12:06you could do whatever you want.
- 12:07And I, you know, I hate that mentality and I dislike that mentality.
- 12:12And again, I'm only hoping that the story is not true. If that's true that these
- 12:16tourists, for some reason, want to spray cookie, want to go out there,
- 12:21and they actually go to a country.
- 12:23You know, you're going to go to a country, and I'm going to call Puerto Rico
- 12:26an island country. Hey, listen, that's just me.
- 12:30And you're going to go and complain the surroundings of it, then just don't
- 12:35go there. You know what I mean?
- 12:37And the other thing too When you go On quote unquote On vacation You're supposed
- 12:42to go there On vacation To enjoy yourself And get away That's the reason Why
- 12:47you decided To go to Puerto Rico,
- 12:49If you didn't do Your homework What happens in Puerto Rico Then by all means
- 12:53Then you know what Just stay home Stay where you at,
- 12:57If you was bored And sick And tired of Your surroundings And then you said You
- 13:01know Puerto Rico That's a I heard it's a beautiful Country You go there And
- 13:05you complain about it and you do some nonsense like spray these coquiz, our beloved coqui,
- 13:11where they are kind of decimating a little bit because of, you know,
- 13:16a little bit of it all, you know, climate change, pollution.
- 13:21As Puerto Rico, sadly, have more and more have gone to the way of kind of industrial,
- 13:28more of corporations, more like let's land for the coquiz to kind of,
- 13:33you know, do their thing.
- 13:34Hurricane Maria, you know, we could go on. and so on and so forth.
- 13:37But come on, relax, all right? Relax, service.
- 13:41And everybody, Puerto Rico is beautiful. You go there, it's a beautiful island. It's a little island.
- 13:47But I'm telling you, you'll love it because it is called La Isla del Encanto, Enchanted Island.
- 13:53You'll love it. You'll love it. Don't go out there and do that nonsense, please.
- 13:58So if you're listening to my podcast, my name is David.
- 14:01I'm Deconstructing Topic. I'm the host of this podcast and I am a resident of
- 14:06the United States, but yes, I was born in Puerto Rico.
- 14:09And I'll be fighting for my little island as long as it's needed.
- 14:13And you need a lot of people that, hey, go there, enjoy.
- 14:17Enjoy because there's a lot of beautiful people out there.
- 14:20And the cookies out there, they come out in the night, please.
- 14:24They don't mean no harm. Relax. So that's what's going on with that situation.
- 14:29Like I said, I hope it's not true, but I've seen a lot of people in my community,
- 14:35in my channels, in my socials, talking about this story. and,
- 14:39you know, has kind of got riding up.
- 14:41And that's the thing with Puerto Rico or Puerto Ricans, whether it's in the
- 14:45island on the diaspora here in the United States.
- 14:48Yes, but I'm saying it wrong.
- 14:51And even, you know, Dominican, you know, that's, you know, a lot of Latinos
- 14:54has come on behalf of Puerto Rico.
- 14:57And, hey, listen, even though we're a little island, I want people to keep in
- 15:01mind is this, real facts.
- 15:04Puerto Ricans have the most boxing champion Boxing, meaning we put gloves on
- 15:11We're going to fight the most champions per capita,
- 15:14Than any other place in this world That means there's a lot of Puerto Ricans
- 15:18who fight And a lot of Puerto Ricans who become champion When you become champion,
- 15:22that means that you're number one So that is why we got that fighting spirit,
- 15:26It ain't that we all going to be punting our chest Whatever it is,
- 15:30because we Puerto Ricans know Even in boxing We become champions You send 10
- 15:36Puerto Ricans out there to box And I'll guarantee that 7 out of 10 There are
- 15:41champions We got a couple of champions Amanda Serrano,
- 15:44Collazo Let's make it happen Alright,
- 15:47folks Hopefully I'll see y'all Saturday You already know I'll be 110.
- 15:53111 Street 3rd Avenue Enjoy I'll be around the Sister in Arms Mi House Cocina,
- 16:01M-I-A-S, Cocina Kitchen, C-O-C-I-A-N, good food, delicious.
- 16:08Now we're going back and forth. We're taking it all.
- 16:12We'll make it happen, and hopefully we can see you Saturday, June 14.
- 16:18Reach out. I'll put the fly once again. Reach out. We got this fundraiser, $50.
