- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:02Epstein Chronicles. Leslie Groff had her time in front of
- 0:07Congress on Tuesday, June ninth, twenty twenty six, and according
- 0:13to James Comer, she was very forthcoming and she was
- 0:18very informative when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein and his behavior.
- 0:22And honestly, at this point, I'm not shocked to hear that.
- 0:25I mean, it's basically what we hear every time we
- 0:27have a witness come up. Comer sings their praises and
- 0:30tells us how great they were, and then of course
- 0:32we get the transcript and it tells us something completely different.
- 0:36So today we have an article from CNN and we're
- 0:39going to talk a little bit more about Leslie Groff
- 0:42and her congressional appearance and the headline, longtime Epstein assistant
- 0:46paints late sex offender as a master manipulator and denies
- 0:49knowing about his crimes. Now, she had no idea, folks.
- 0:53She was there every day, all day for what fifteen years,
- 0:58sixteen years, whatever it was, and she had no idea. Okay.
- 1:03The authors of this article are Annie Grayer and MJ. Lee,
- 1:07one of Jeffrey Epstein's longtime assistants told members of the
- 1:10House Oversight Committee on Tuesday that she did not know
- 1:13about the late convicted sex offenders' crimes, describing him as
- 1:16a master manipulator who had every reason to keep them
- 1:20a secret from her. According to two sources familiar with
- 1:24the testimony, as a way to try to demonstrate her
- 1:27ignorance about Epstein's wrongdoing, Leslie Groff, Epstein's former executive assistant,
- 1:32said she believed the massage appointments she made for Epstein
- 1:34with young women and girls were with massage therapists. The
- 1:38sources said, give me a break. Stop. Nobody believes that. Well,
- 1:43maybe calmer, but nobody who knows the story believes that.
- 1:48What do you think those girls that were in school
- 1:49were telling you, Oh, I have a recital where I
- 1:52have this, or that I can't make it. They're all
- 1:56in college. Is that what you think, especially after the fact,
- 1:59when you know that you're a ball us had already
- 2:01diddled the kid. Look, I don't believe anything that Leslie
- 2:04Groff is saying, just like I don't believe the vast
- 2:06majority of things that we heard from Sarah Kellen. All
- 2:09of a sudden there's all these concerns from Jeffrey Epstein's
- 2:12Corps four were all these concerns previously. I want to
- 2:17say without any doubt that I've come to believe that
- 2:19the man who employed me from February of two thousand
- 2:21and one through July of twenty nineteen was a monster.
- 2:25For eighteen years, I worked for doctor Jekyl, but was
- 2:28never permitted to see the true mister Hyde. Groff said
- 2:32in her opening statement later obtained by CNN, mister Epstein was,
- 2:36in hindsight, a master manipulator and deceiver who separated his
- 2:40legitimate life from his secret life as an abuser and
- 2:43made sure that his secretary those two worlds did not collide.
- 2:47You were more than a secretary, a personal assistant to
- 2:50somebody like Epstein. They're always around, They're involved in everything. Now,
- 2:56she might not have known the extent of the abuse,
- 3:00but she knew that something was going on. She knew
- 3:02that people were being abused, and if you stayed around
- 3:05them after the first time around, then hey, you don't
- 3:08have any leg to stand on. Groff is one of
- 3:11the most notable members of the late financiers. In her
- 3:13orbit to speak to Congress as part of its Epstein investigation,
- 3:17a ubiquitous assistant who out manage every aspect of Epstein's life,
- 3:21from appointments with women to meetings with powerful individuals, as
- 3:26evidenced in the Justice departments millions of Epstein files. As
- 3:31part of her opening remarks, she recounted to the investigative
- 3:34panel how massage appointments were booked and claimed to have
- 3:38never met any of the women involved. That's a lie.
- 3:42She never met Virginia. She never met any of the
- 3:45women that were coming to the house. I don't believe that.
- 3:49And if any of these girls say otherwise, then that
- 3:52means that Leslie Groff lied, right, and that would mean
- 3:55that she committed perjury. These calls lasted literally a few seconds. Hi,
- 4:04this is Leslie calling for mister Epstein. Are you available
- 4:07for a massage at four o'clock? Groff told lawmakers none
- 4:12of the women or anyone else ever told me that
- 4:15they were miners or that they were sexually abused. Nothing
- 4:18I heard or saw led me to believe otherwise, she
- 4:21would have never remained silent, She said. If she knew
- 4:23about Epstein's crimes, well you knew about the first time around,
- 4:27So stop Groff told lawmakers during her hour long interview
- 4:31that she was not sexually abused by Epstein. One of
- 4:34the sources said she said she did not need her
- 4:37job with Epstein, and testified that both Epstein and Maxwellow
- 4:41told her that she should not associate with their friends
- 4:43and colleagues, insisting their business was none of hers. Since
- 4:48Epstein's arrest, Groff, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight,
- 4:52told lawmakers she's been shunned by friends, received death threats,
- 4:55and her family has been harassed again. People shouldn't do that.
- 5:00Why is anybody out here harassing people's family. Stop. Don't
- 5:05be crazy. Put pressure on the people that can make
- 5:09things happen. Put pressure on politicians, put pressure on public officials,
- 5:15put pressure on people that actually have their hands on
- 5:18the lever. Graf addressed Epstein's survivors in her opening statement,
- 5:24testifying that her heart breaks for these women. I believe them.
- 5:28Words cannot express how badly I feel that I was
- 5:31employed by mister Epstein during the time that he abused
- 5:34these women. I will live with this horrible feeling for
- 5:37the rest of my life, she told lawmakers of the survivors. Yeah,
- 5:41how do you think the survivors feel. If you feel
- 5:44that bad, Leslie, how do you think these girls feel?
- 5:48But Craft's denial that she had any knowledge of Epstein's
- 5:51wrongdoing was immediately met with condemnation from survivors. Charlene Rochard
- 5:57expressed skepticism that Graff would not have been away of
- 6:00Epstein's crimes. One of the hardest parts for survivors is
- 6:03hearing the people who were closest to Epstein claim they
- 6:06saw nothing, Rochard told CNN that doesn't match my experience.
- 6:11Survivors deserve answers, not claims of ignorance, and it's true
- 6:16that's what they deserve. But unfortunately we're not going to
- 6:18get that, not from any of these people. They have
- 6:21zero desire to ever tell the truth, whether it's the
- 6:25Trump administration or Leslie Groff or anybody else that was
- 6:29associated with Captain Scumbag. Representative Stephen Lynch, a Democrat on
- 6:35the panel, was also skeptical of Groff's efforts to distance
- 6:38herself from Epstein, telling reporters it's highly inconsistent that she's
- 6:43maintaining that she didn't really know Jeffrey Epstein, even though
- 6:46she worked for him for eighteen years. Not just work
- 6:48for him personal assistant. We all know how crazy that
- 6:53job is, how much you're in the mix. While Groff
- 6:56said that she saw nothing with the massages she's scheduled
- 6:59for Epstein, Lynch said he questioned whether she can rightfully
- 7:02and truthfully maintain that she saw nothing improper in that
- 7:07he was a registered sex offender and had to report.
- 7:09Lynch added of Epstein, addressing why she did not leave
- 7:13her job with Epstein sooner, particularly after he became a
- 7:16registered sex offender. Groff claimed in her opening statement that
- 7:20Epstein adlied to her and insisted that he had been
- 7:22blackmailed and was set up. So you believed them instead
- 7:26of those girls they came forward instead of the court.
- 7:30That doesn't sit well with me, and I'm not buying
- 7:33that excuse. The committee covered a range of topics during
- 7:37the interviews that stretched into the late afternoon, as Republicans
- 7:42and Democrats traded rounds of questioning. A source familiar with
- 7:46the matter told CNN that there was no previously agreed
- 7:49upon scolpe for Groff's interview, meaning no questions or topics
- 7:52were off limits. I want to help you in any
- 7:55way I can, Graff told lawmakers. At the start of
- 7:57her appearance, House Oversight Chair James Comer described Groff as
- 8:02very forthcoming and compelling in the way she answered questions
- 8:05throughout the closed door interview. Oh yeah, just a great witness,
- 8:09very helpful and trying to keep us covering this up.
- 8:13There are some things that she said that probably aren't
- 8:15along the same lines as what some of the victims
- 8:18have said, so we're gonna have to review that, Comber,
- 8:21a Kentucky Republican, said Tuesday, adding that he hopes to
- 8:25hold a public hearing with victims of Epstein's abuse in
- 8:28the future. Democrats have sought to tie President Donald Trump
- 8:32to Epstein, though Trump is long denied any wrongdoing related
- 8:35to Ebstein, as well as any allegations of sexual misconduct. Yeah, well,
- 8:41how about the cover up, because from where I'm sitting,
- 8:45it's very apparent. Lynch noted that Groff arranged multiple phone
- 8:49calls between Trump and Epstein before Trump was president, but
- 8:53didn't specify when Groff said she didn't know of any
- 8:57employees of Trump's Mar A Lago resort going at Stein's residence.
- 9:01The source familiar said Groff began working for Epstein in
- 9:05two thousand and one, according to a twenty ten payroll document,
- 9:09managing his schedule, booking his travel and personal appointments, and
- 9:13acting as a go between with high profile individuals. She
- 9:17was listed as a potential co conspirator to Epstein as
- 9:19part of the controversial non prosecution agreements struck with federal
- 9:23prosecutors in Florida of two thousand and eight. And you
- 9:26notice how she didn't try to get rid of that immunity, right,
- 9:29you're so innocent, say you don't want to be part
- 9:32of the MPa. Multiple victims who spoke with the FBI
- 9:36identified Groff as a person they'd first call to reach
- 9:39Epstein and schedule a massage for him. They said that
- 9:42he perpetuated his sexual abuse while receiving those massages. In
- 9:47a twenty twenty one interview with the FBI, Groff said
- 9:50booking massages was just another appointment she made for Epstein,
- 9:54according to notes from the interview. Email correspondence in the
- 9:57Epstein files also revealed the late Fine nancier relied on
- 10:01Groff to book domestic and international travel for him and
- 10:05scores a women. If it was Rico, it would be
- 10:08a big problem, but it's not Rico, so Groff is
- 10:11in the clear. Funny how that works. Groff's lawyers announced
- 10:15in late twenty twenty one that she would not be
- 10:17charged by law enforcement and that she had never witnessed
- 10:20anything improper or illegal and remains heartbroken for all the victims.
- 10:25In a previous statement to CNN, Groff's lawyer said she
- 10:28worked for Epstein as part of a professional staff that
- 10:31included in OUs attorneys, accountants, and other staff, and that
- 10:35her job included making appointments for Epstein, taking his messages,
- 10:39and setting up high level meetings with CEOs, business executives, scientists, politicians, celebrities,
- 10:46charitable organizations and universities. Now keep in mind, this is
- 10:50what's being reported. We haven't seen the transcripts yet, so
- 10:54until we see them, like usual, I suggest you take
- 10:57everything you hear with a grand assault and once those
- 11:00transcripts are available, will get them added to the catalog.
