- 0:08Welcome to episode 42 of three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:11I'm your host Joel. I'm here with my Co host Will
- 0:14today. Avery is not with us once again.
- 0:16He will also not be with us next week, but next week we will be
- 0:20having a guest on our show. We'll have Brennan from Cheese
- 0:23Heads and the Bear podcast on and possibly his Co host as
- 0:26well. I'm not sure yet, but we'll at
- 0:27least have Brennan on here with us.
- 0:30How you doing today Will? I am doing well.
- 0:32We are recording on December 23rd and Merry Christmas
- 0:35everybody as as a show note, you already know this.
- 0:38I also may not be here next week depends on travels, but yeah,
- 0:42I'm I'm doing very well. It's this is the best time of
- 0:46the year for so many reasons. Just so many sports a lot of
- 0:50them but but a lot of others too, I'm sure.
- 0:53How are you, Joe? Yeah, I'm doing great.
- 0:55I'm doing great. My kids are happy, my kids are
- 0:57excited. It's almost Christmas that makes
- 1:00me excited. So, and you can see we've got
- 1:03for those of you who are watching the episode, we have
- 1:06this great Christmas card right here that makes me excited.
- 1:08I don't know about you, Will. And Will has this great
- 1:11Christmas sweater showing this man's lovely nipples.
- 1:14The it's Santa Claus on route right now, Rudolph.
- 1:18And listen, the the balance I think is what it is.
- 1:22The white balance is off. He is wearing a silver candy
- 1:27cane chain. I'm going to pull the camera
- 1:29back up to my face here in a second.
- 1:31But the longer you stare at this, let me tell you, I'm going
- 1:34to wear this to work tomorrow. The longer you stare at it, just
- 1:37the worse you get. It gets so bad.
- 1:39It's terrible, and I should definitely not be wearing it to
- 1:41work, but here we go. Well.
- 1:44I just realized. Like 9 years in a row.
- 1:48I just realized I'm off to a rough start here.
- 1:50I didn't even have my microphone in front of me until you were
- 1:53just talking just then, so I don't know if that had anything
- 1:57to to do with me being delayed on your side will but it it
- 2:01wasn't there until just now so there's.
- 2:03That all good. All right, well, to get things
- 2:07going here, I've got my Christmas question for you.
- 2:10So today's Christmas question is who is your favorite Christmas
- 2:14character? It could be an animated
- 2:17character. It could be a character from a
- 2:21live action movie, but just who is your favorite Christmas
- 2:24character? I I feel like the obvious answer
- 2:27should be Jesus Christ, right? Like sweet little baby Jesus.
- 2:31OK, OK. That that's fair.
- 2:35Is that not that's not what you meant, I feel.
- 2:37I feel that that's not what you meant.
- 2:39Got it. OK.
- 2:41It's got to be if we're talking, if we're talking media only, not
- 2:47talking biblical. Man, I don't know, Favorite
- 2:51Christmas character? Do you need me to go first?
- 2:55I think I do, yeah. OK, my favorite Christmas
- 2:59character is from the Santa Claus movies.
- 3:02It's Scott Calvin. Oh, yeah, I just.
- 3:06I grew up watching. Yeah.
- 3:10I grew up watching those movies. I just think he's such a great
- 3:12character. This is a bit of a deep cut and
- 3:15maybe maybe people don't know this as much, but the 1964
- 3:20version of the Grinch, I think it's 60 four 1960s version of
- 3:23the Grinch that Burr lives. Shoot, I'm going to get all
- 3:26these names right. Oh, excuse me, The 1966 version
- 3:29of the Grinch narrated by, I do believe Boris Karloff.
- 3:33Excuse me, Burr lives. That is not the right guy.
- 3:37Narrated by the 1966 version of The Grinch.
- 3:40Narrated by Boris Karloff. The dog Max.
- 3:43The dog Max in that movie. It's 30 minutes long.
- 3:46We watch it every Christmas Eve. The dog Max in that movie has so
- 3:50much character and so much sass. 0 speaking lines.
- 3:54But he does this in the wave thing.
- 3:56I have seen it every year for like 30 years now.
- 3:59It makes me laugh every year and just that the the SAS that this
- 4:04dog has for a movie that came out in the 60s.
- 4:07It's not fair that he has so much character.
- 4:10I I just an animal, but I do believe that that that Max is is
- 4:15my favorite. I don't know if I've even
- 4:17actually seen that one. You should you.
- 4:21You should. Yep, I don't even know where
- 4:23else it. Is besides you should.
- 4:24You said it's 30 minutes long. I don't even think it's 30
- 4:27minutes long. If you have Peacock, then it
- 4:30it's that's where it's at. And I can tell you in just a
- 4:34second how long it is. It's 25 minutes long.
- 4:37Excuse me? OK.
- 4:39I'll check it out. So at our house, that's like the
- 4:42last thing we do right before bed.
- 4:44Yeah, it's cool. We're getting the kids ready.
- 4:46We're in our Christmas pajamas. We watch this movie and then we
- 4:49go to sleep. Like, that's that's what we do.
- 4:52He gets us ready for for Santa Claus to show up.
- 4:55All right, so this week we are not going to do Will's weekly
- 5:00recap because I have a NFL version of Twas the Night Before
- 5:05Christmas that I am excited to share with you guys.
- 5:08Now, it does have somewhat of a recap in there.
- 5:11It does have some things from last week of the NFL, but
- 5:14basically what I tried to do is I tried to get some sort of
- 5:17reference to every single NFL team in this story.
- 5:21So I don't directly say every single name of the teams, but
- 5:25there is some sort of reference to every single NFL team in this
- 5:30NFL version of Twas The Night Before Christmas.
- 5:32So I'm going going to share my screen with you guys.
- 5:35I actually have a slideshow that goes along with the story.
- 5:39So if you guys are listening, if you want to go watch it on
- 5:43YouTube, I will also try to post this on social media for you
- 5:46guys as well. So let me just get my screen up
- 5:49here real quick. All right, Will, can you see
- 5:52this? I can see it now.
- 5:54OK, perfect. Here we go.
- 5:57You ready for this? I'm excited.
- 5:58Yes, I am. I'm excited.
- 6:00Here we go. Twas the night before Christmas
- 6:02and all through the league, ten NFL teams have their playoff
- 6:04spots guaranteed. There's still four playoff spots
- 6:07left to take, but the Bucks offensive play calling is so bad
- 6:09that not even Baker can bake. The Chicago Bears clinched a
- 6:12playoff spot this past Sunday, leaving their NFC North rival
- 6:14saying words they shouldn't say. The Cowboys playoffs hopes were
- 6:18already near, but an Eagles Week 16 win had Dallas fans once
- 6:21again saying there's always next year.
- 6:23The Eagles still think they're winning the Super Bowl, but this
- 6:25year they're just getting a lump of coal.
- 6:27The Seahawks now control the NFC one seed after a 2 point
- 6:30conversion. Rams fans just could not believe
- 6:33Liam Cohen has the Jags offense flowing while Trevor Lawrence's
- 6:36hair just keeps on glowing. And Speaking of hair, Mark Davis
- 6:39has the worst. And maybe that's the reason the
- 6:41Raiders are cursed. Aaron Rodgers is old, He's just
- 6:44doing this for fun, but he's playing well enough that the
- 6:46Ravens are done. The haters will say Shooter
- 6:48Sanders sucks, but Kevin Stefanski needs to be on the
- 6:51next bus. The Jets have now missed the
- 6:53playoffs for the 15th straight year, but they've got the Colts
- 6:56next two first round picks, so cheers.
- 6:58Josh Allen is in the playoffs again this year and this time
- 7:00he'll say thank goodness Mahomes isn't here for the NFL teams
- 7:04that missed the playoffs this year.
- 7:05This year was a whiff, and maybe they'll take again next year for
- 7:08Jeremiah Smith, now McCaffrey, now Gibbs, now HN, now Robinson.
- 7:12They're the best running backs in the league, there's just no
- 7:14stopping them. We hope you win your fantasy
- 7:16championships, but hey, if you don't, at least you avoided the
- 7:19last place punishments. There's only two more weeks left
- 7:22in the regular season and NFL fans just keep on believing
- 7:25Justin Herbert, CJ Stroud and Bo Knicks.
- 7:28They're all hoping they can win their first championship, but
- 7:30Drake May has the Patriots future looking bright.
- 7:33Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
- 7:36Very nice. That was good.
- 7:37That is good. Well, that's our weekly recap, I
- 7:41guess you could say. So let's get into the topics for
- 7:45today. Will I have a question for you
- 7:47to start off here? OK.
- 7:50So the Rams play the Falcons on Monday Night Football this week.
- 7:53My question for you is which team wants to win more, the Rams
- 7:57or the Falcons? And the reason I ask that is
- 7:59because the Rams hold the Falcons first round pick and so
- 8:04do the Falcons want to win more so that the Rams have a worse
- 8:06pick or do the Rams want to win more so that they have a better
- 8:10pick? Well, the answer is the Rams,
- 8:12right? Because they still, even though
- 8:14it's slim, they still have a shot to win the number one seat.
- 8:19So. So they are still actually
- 8:20playing for something. Let's just put the rankings and
- 8:23the seeds and and all that aside, just strictly based off
- 8:26of just strictly based off of draft position.
- 8:29Which team wants to win more, the Rams or the Falcons?
- 8:33Well, the Rams for sure, because if we beat these guys and we
- 8:35need a better pick, right? I don't think the Falcons are
- 8:38thinking about where they have our pick and let's get them a
- 8:40worse pick because at this point, that pick is so far out
- 8:43of their mind because the Rams are like, hey, you know what?
- 8:46We have their pick. Like be sure to beat them as
- 8:48worse, as bad as we can and hopefully maybe knock them down
- 8:53into the lower spot. I don't know what their current
- 8:55draft position is, 10-9, something like that.
- 8:59I want to say a. Lot of excuse me, it's it's
- 9:02eleven. Yeah, that can obviously change.
- 9:04The Saints are getting hot right now.
- 9:05Good for them. I guess it's got to be the Rams.
- 9:07They want to they want to get that a hopefully a deep playoff
- 9:10run for the Rams and then also a top ten pick.
- 9:13That's that's just not fair. Yeah, I'll just say that the
- 9:17that was just such a stupid trade by the Falcons to do that.
- 9:21I don't even remember who they picked, but it doesn't even
- 9:23matter. It was such a dumb trade.
- 9:25I don't understand why they traded a first round pick.
- 9:27I I don't understand what the Falcons are doing there, but
- 9:30they did it so good for the ramps.
- 9:33OK, hold on. I have a question.
- 9:35I have a question for you. This is a bit of a leading
- 9:37question. I need you to answer it not in a
- 9:39specific way, but I think you were the guy that answered this
- 9:41question because they got brought up a bit in your in your
- 9:45recap. What does it mean to be in a
- 9:47contract year? What does that mean?
- 9:49Like we describe, oh, XX player is in a contract year.
- 9:55What does that usually mean for the player themselves?
- 9:57Let me let me put it that way. Let's just take a random player.
- 10:00This is not the case. But let's say, OK, this is the
- 10:04case, next year Devonte Adams is going to be in a contract year.
- 10:08What does that mean for Devonte Adams next year?
- 10:11That means he's going to ball out and then get paid a lot of
- 10:13money and then the next year suck after that.
- 10:16I mean, that's, that's fine, right?
- 10:18So but, but usually when you're in a contract year, it means
- 10:21that you should be doing everything you can to establish
- 10:24why you should get your next contract correct.
- 10:27Right. OK, now that we've established
- 10:30that you brought it up in your recap, the Rams 2 point
- 10:33conversion and that was just on Thursday night.
- 10:36There were so many throughout the weekend where I don't, I'm
- 10:40big. I'm huge on not complaining
- 10:42about officiating. I'm huge on you know what?
- 10:45They're humans. They're this, they're that
- 10:48whatever the referee contracts for all of them, the CBA, their
- 10:53bargaining agreement is up at the end of this season.
- 10:56They have to renegotiate with the NFL.
- 10:58And so right now the referees are in a contract here.
- 11:01And if anybody remembers way back when, I want to say 2009, I
- 11:07think is when we had the replacement reps.
- 11:09And if replacement reps makes everybody cringe, that that's
- 11:12where we had to fail. Mary Packers, Seahawks, that
- 11:15whole thing, that is what we're staring at right now.
- 11:17These referees are in their contract year.
- 11:20We are staring down the barrel of them having to renegotiate
- 11:23their whole deal where they pretty much get all the power.
- 11:27I mean, they, they get whatever they want basically because what
- 11:30are you going to do, go back to those guys?
- 11:32Again, You've seen this before. So what, what do you think?
- 11:36What, what do you think is the real cause of now that we are
- 11:40seemingly getting worse towards the end of the season?
- 11:42I know this isn't a topic we had to talk about, but but with all
- 11:45the recent real recent bad calls, I mean good, bad or
- 11:49different. The imbalance of penalty calls
- 11:52in the Falcons Buccaneers game this weekend, the Falcons had 19
- 11:56throne penalties. The Buccaneers had four.
- 11:59Now, right, wrong or indifferent, that is something
- 12:02to look at like, wow, that's a huge imbalance.
- 12:05What what are we doing here? Why is this?
- 12:07Because it's it's not like either team was actually too
- 12:09many more penalties in the other.
- 12:11They commit equally high penalties and and that's going
- 12:14to offend a lot of people. Every team has a penalty on
- 12:17every play. That's just the way it is.
- 12:20It just depends on what they call.
- 12:21What do you think is is a cause here or what do you think the
- 12:25NFL should do or what? What do you think?
- 12:27I want your take on the refereeing and officiating this
- 12:29year, the referees. Have been awful this year, like
- 12:32and to me it seems like they've been worse than they have been
- 12:36in the past. And I know there's been bad
- 12:37calls in the past, but this year just maybe I'm looking for it
- 12:40more, but they just seem like they've been a lot worse this
- 12:43year than they have been. One thing I've never understood
- 12:46is like, I understand that you don't want to slow down the game
- 12:49and you don't want to have to, you know, review every single
- 12:52play and review this and review that.
- 12:54But what I don't understand is why can't the NFL just have
- 12:58somebody or multiple people that can get together and call into
- 13:03the refs when they get the call wrong?
- 13:05Like, I know they do that on some plays.
- 13:07I I know, but they only do it sometimes.
- 13:10That's the problem. They only do it sometimes.
- 13:12There are only certain times when they are allowed to do
- 13:15that. There are still calls that they
- 13:17get wrong where I'm like, NFL, step in here, step in.
- 13:21What are you doing? Don't let them just get this
- 13:23call wrong. Step in.
- 13:25But they only do it sometimes and I don't understand why they
- 13:28only do it sometimes and not other times.
- 13:30If you want to get the games right, if you want to have the
- 13:34correct calls in every game, just step in when you need to.
- 13:39Every single time. Don't just wait for some random
- 13:42moment in the game where you feel like you need to step in.
- 13:45You should step in every single time that the call is wrong.
- 13:49Every single time. Don't wait for some random time
- 13:52in the game every single time the call is wrong.
- 13:55You need to step in and tell the referees you got the call wrong.
- 13:59Here's the actual correct call, Yeah.
- 14:02It, it just, it feels bad as a fan, from a fan's perspective of
- 14:06like at the end of that Lion's Steelers game, they talked about
- 14:08that for like 3 minutes. We just sat there and waited as
- 14:11as the game is over for three minutes.
- 14:14And it's, and it's wildly inconsistent because earlier in
- 14:18the season, Jalen Hurts got the ball stripped from his hands on
- 14:22a touch push. But they said, oh, actually
- 14:24forward progress, we're not doing that.
- 14:26And then Sunday night, I think it was Saint Brown.
- 14:29I don't actually know which receiver was.
- 14:30I think it was Saint Brown. Yeah, it was Saint Brown.
- 14:32Yeah. Got driven backwards 3 yards
- 14:35before he, whether you want to call it a fumble or you want to
- 14:39call it a pitch, whatever you want to call it, he was, he was
- 14:42driven back 3 yards. Full forward progress, stop.
- 14:45Never once was the Indian zone and you threw it back to Jared
- 14:48Goff after everyone had stopped playing and then ran it and
- 14:52Jared Goff ran into the end zone and the referees talked like 3
- 14:55minutes and everyone's like what are we doing here?
- 14:57What is going on? Like just just make a
- 15:00distinction and move on it. There's no reason for this to
- 15:03have been a touchdown, especially because there were
- 15:05two flags in the field already. They called you off into past
- 15:07interference. And then the other thing is that
- 15:11these some of these referees and and it dates all the way back.
- 15:14I don't know if you remember this tool, but Jean Sterator
- 15:17Sunday Night Football, Dallas Cowboys Jean Sterator got a note
- 15:20card out to to to confirm a measurement on the where they
- 15:24used to bring the sticks out. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:26That's that's a classic 1. James.
- 15:28James Sterator wasn't showing. It makes no, it makes perfect
- 15:31sense to me. Excuse me.
- 15:32It makes perfect sense as to why he got into this NFL rules
- 15:35analyst thing. Jean Sterator had a note card
- 15:38out. Put it on there.
- 15:39Put it on the line that you'll Yep, that's the first down.
- 15:41We'll move them. Did the whole thing, the
- 15:43referees and the overtime of the Rams game just over exaggerating
- 15:47their calls as if everyone's there to see the referees and
- 15:50then again in that back to that Lion Steelers game after the
- 15:55deliberation for three minutes. Did you get on the mic?
- 15:57It is a touchdown however. Not too fast however.
- 16:04And then the whole crowd just erupts like, what do you like?
- 16:07Why would you do that? Yeah, I just.
- 16:10Why would you do that? Just just just roll the whole
- 16:14thing out. Just just say it.
- 16:16Result of the play. The result of the play was a
- 16:19touchdown on the play, offensive best, and they do that.
- 16:23They do that 100,000 times during the season.
- 16:26Results of the play. Was this during the play this
- 16:29happened. We're moving it back first down
- 16:32or where or or replay the down redo this because there's no
- 16:36offense ability. This is the end of the game.
- 16:38It's not that hard to do and when you're going to make a show
- 16:41out of it And two things come to mind.
- 16:44One, I'm starting to buy into this whole maybe it is rate
- 16:48right. Maybe it is because the only
- 16:51reason these reps are getting the air time that they think
- 16:53they want is because they're the ones who are throwing the
- 16:56penalty flags at Oh, we can't, we can't let the overhead here.
- 16:59We can't let we can't let this guy score.
- 17:01We've got this prop, but we've got that thing.
- 17:03And, and this is pretty tinfoil hat theory stuff, But, but it's
- 17:08becoming more and more prevalent when these referees seemingly
- 17:12are like rooting for certain teams and like 19 penalties
- 17:16against the Falcons, it almost seems as if they tried to do
- 17:18everything they could, Hey, wait.
- 17:20Oh, Nope, you're another flag here, another flight here.
- 17:22Everything they could to, to help the bucks out because who
- 17:26knows why now penalties are situation to rise.
- 17:29Like, like the penalties that hit the bucks hurt more in the
- 17:33situation versus and whatever. But I, I don't know, I just, I
- 17:38just feels like especially as we get to the end of the year here
- 17:40where everything is on such a fine line of light, like who's
- 17:44in the playoffs, who's out what seed, what does what that it
- 17:47just seems to get worse. And I don't think it's going to
- 17:49get better. I think we're going to be
- 17:50talking about this through the entire playoffs When, when in
- 17:53round one, there's six games to watch.
- 17:55There's only six games. So your best six crews are are
- 17:58going to be out there. And and then we're like, OK,
- 18:01well, we get to watch every single game this from here on
- 18:04out, starting round in the playoffs.
- 18:07It's just going to be, it's just going to be more obvious and
- 18:09more in our face. Yeah.
- 18:11I agree and I'll just give one more example from the Rams and
- 18:14Seahawks game on that two point conversion where it was a
- 18:17backwards pass, the whistle did blow before the whistle was
- 18:21100%. The whistle 100% blew before he
- 18:25picked up the ball 100%. So just I just don't understand
- 18:29like why couldn't the NFL look at that replay and say the
- 18:33whistle blew before he picked it up?
- 18:35It's not a successful 2 point conversion.
- 18:37The whistle blew before. I don't understand why they
- 18:39can't do that. It doesn't make any sense to me.
- 18:41Worst. Case scenario, Worst case
- 18:42scenario. Replay the down.
- 18:44Hey, the whistle blew while the ball was loose on a on a loose
- 18:47ball play. It was a backwards pass.
- 18:49The ball was loose, the whistle blew, no one had possession.
- 18:52Ball was given back to the last team that had possession.
- 18:55Replay the down guy. Do it again.
- 18:59Just just try again. Man, when it comes to Battle
- 19:02Fish shading, I will never forget the Rams and Saints.
- 19:08I think it was NFC Championship Game.
- 19:10NFC Championship Game. That was that was bad.
- 19:12That was the worst missed call I've ever seen.
- 19:16That was bad. I mean, that was so clear and
- 19:18obvious. Yeah, it did.
- 19:20That missed. Call right there is what got us
- 19:23the passenger fear to replay that only lasted one year
- 19:26because the system what they had was terrible because they never
- 19:28overturned their own calls that's the problem is that the
- 19:30referee was getting by their call and they've never well I
- 19:33made the call and we're not going to overturn it so I'm
- 19:36right that was right the whole time another.
- 19:39Example of why the NFL needs to step in?
- 19:41Well, I I. Think, I think because of that,
- 19:44because this whole I think it was like 5% of per of challenge
- 19:48past appearance calls got overturned and 5% maybe too high
- 19:52because of that. I think that's when we got to
- 19:54replay assistance and we got this whole expedited thing and
- 19:57we have more eyes on these games.
- 20:00And, and they're trying not to overstep it and let the game
- 20:03happen because of every single play.
- 20:05They're like, well, you didn't throw a flag on this and we have
- 20:07a holding penalty or you didn't throw a flag on this and we've
- 20:09got ref in the passer or, or whatever it is.
- 20:12We're just going to get the game going to slow down and they're
- 20:14going to lose fans. They're going to lose
- 20:16continuity. The game just lose its step.
- 20:19But but they're half the middle ground.
- 20:22And I think they're trying to find it.
- 20:24I, I truly think they're trying to find it.
- 20:26It just needs to hurry up. Yeah, and and when I say like
- 20:30the NFL needs to step in on a bad like missed call, I'm not
- 20:34talking about like defensive holding or offensive holding,
- 20:38whatever, whatever, like calls like that, like regular
- 20:41penalties. I'm talking about like obvious
- 20:43calls, like obvious calls that get missed.
- 20:46Like the when the whistle blew on the two point conversion,
- 20:49that's an obvious the whistle blew.
- 20:51If you watch that video, it's obvious the again, the Rams and
- 20:54Saints, no call on the past interference, obvious.
- 20:58Just on the obvious calls, just step in.
- 21:00Like you don't need to do it on every single play.
- 21:02I understand there's going to be things that you miss like
- 21:05holding or whatever, but on an obvious pass interference call,
- 21:08step in. On an obvious call that the
- 21:11referees got wrong, step in. You don't have to do it every
- 21:14single time, just when it really matters, like on an obvious call
- 21:18that would change the game, just step in.
- 21:21Just step in, right? Sorry to derail the whole
- 21:24conversation with referee Talk, but I it it's becoming more and
- 21:27more obvious and more and more prevalent in our face right now,
- 21:30and I just felt like it was something to talk about,
- 21:32something important to talk about as we move in here.
- 21:35Yeah, I agree. No, no problem at all.
- 21:37All right, so the next thing we're going to talk about here
- 21:40is something that a question that I've wondered for a long
- 21:43time actually. And the question is, why do NFL
- 21:46fans Boo their own team? It doesn't make any sense to me.
- 21:49I just, I just think booing your own team is so stupid.
- 21:51I think it's so stupid. But what do you think will Why
- 21:53do NFL fans Boo their own team? I I can agree with, with what
- 21:58you said to start with there. I think booing your own team is
- 22:01incredibly stupid. And I, I think, I think the most
- 22:05obvious one, well, I, I don't know what the most obvious one
- 22:08is right now. Is anybody playing the Texans?
- 22:10They're going to get booed at home because the Texans shuts
- 22:12down offenses. And it's, it's a way for yeah,
- 22:15it's just what's happening. That's why, that's why you're
- 22:17going to see Texans on on national television right now
- 22:20because there's a shutdown offenses and then they can't
- 22:22play offense. And it's like, well, this is
- 22:24just the most boring game ever. Yeah, another 30, 10 to 10 game
- 22:27great. They won again.
- 22:28Cool, but it's it's so stupid to call yourself a fan of this team
- 22:33and it's just sit there and Boo. Are you are you trying to say
- 22:36that you can do a better job that you can coach about?
- 22:38I can make better play calls. Is that what you're trying to
- 22:40say? You're you're booing the
- 22:42decisions being made. Nobody comes to your job and
- 22:45sits there and when you misspelled the word the OR you
- 22:50or you type butts with two T's instead of 1 T on accidents or
- 22:55you send an e-mail out wrong or you make the wrong order.
- 22:59Nobody sits there and goes, you know, fire him.
- 23:04Nobody does that to you. Not that it's the same.
- 23:07No, it is actually the same thing.
- 23:09It is quite the same thing. The difference may just be
- 23:11dollars, right? Think about like a lawyer
- 23:14though. You you lose your case and your
- 23:16client just sits there and booze you in the courtroom.
- 23:18Could you imagine? McDonald's messes up your order
- 23:22and you just sit there to drive through and you just Boo them
- 23:24until they get it right. I guess that that only that that
- 23:29behavior is only allowed than the sports would.
- 23:32You're not booing any other professional ever.
- 23:34And I just think I just think it's so childish and so stupid.
- 23:38It's just such a stupid thing. You paid money to be there.
- 23:42Quit booing. I I think, oh, it was Thursday
- 23:45night, Seahawks, Rams early in that game, the Rams were out and
- 23:49they are booing the Seahawks. The Bluebirds are out loud in
- 23:53Seattle. And then little by little, chunk
- 23:56by chunk, guess who ended up winning that game?
- 23:58The Seahawks. And all those people who booed
- 24:01were cheering loud at the end of that game.
- 24:03Like you guys are such fake fans.
- 24:06Such fake garbage. Yeah, that's actually a perfect
- 24:10example. I was actually going to bring
- 24:11that up. That's a perfect example of why
- 24:13I think booing is stupid, because sometimes when you play
- 24:16an NFL game, you just don't play well for the first half, or you
- 24:20don't play well for the 1st 3/4, or you don't play well until 5
- 24:23minutes left in the fourth quarter.
- 24:24Sometimes that's just what happens in an NFL game.
- 24:28What is? Yeah, exactly?
- 24:30Yeah. What is booing going to do?
- 24:31Is booing going to what? Is booing going to make the team
- 24:35play better? No, it's not going to make them
- 24:38play better. Booing is.
- 24:39Not going to get it's not going to coach fired it.
- 24:43It does nothing. Doesn't even make you feel
- 24:45better, like you're not even doing it to feel better.
- 24:48Exactly. If you're anything like me, like
- 24:50if you have a similar personality to me, if you Boo
- 24:52me, if I'm not doing well, I'm going to do worse.
- 24:56Like as a fan, as a fan, you have a responsibility to that
- 24:59team that you say you're a fan of to do everything in your
- 25:03power to help that team win. Booing does not do that.
- 25:06And the reason why I hate booing is one of the many reasons why I
- 25:11dislike Philadelphia Eagles fans, because I have never heard
- 25:14fans Boo their team as much as Philadelphia Eagles fans Boo the
- 25:18Eagles. And I don't even understand why
- 25:20they Boo. What do they have to Boo about?
- 25:23They just won the Super Bowl last year.
- 25:25They've been leading the division all season long.
- 25:27They're in the playoffs, They've won double digit games.
- 25:30What do you have to Boo about? I understand your offense hasn't
- 25:33been great. I understand that you say you're
- 25:36a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 25:38But every single time I watch the Eagles play when they're at
- 25:41home, they get booed. Every.
- 25:43Almost every single time, yeah. Winning or losing, you're
- 25:47absolutely right. They'll be up by 10 and they
- 25:50won't go for it on 1/4 and five and all of a sudden Nick Sirion
- 25:54is the worst. He didn't go for it on 1/4 down.
- 25:56Boo this guy. It's so.
- 25:58Dumb. It's so stupid.
- 26:00Booing is so stupid. I understand it.
- 26:02Like I get it. It needs to go both ways.
- 26:05Like as a fan, you have a responsibility to help your team
- 26:09win and do everything in your power to create an environment
- 26:13that helps your team win. But the team has a
- 26:15responsibility to you as a fan to put a winning team on the
- 26:19field. I get that.
- 26:21I understand that. So like it, part of me
- 26:24understands if your team has been terrible like The Jets,
- 26:26like they haven't made the playoffs in 15 years, part of me
- 26:29gets it. If if that's the situation, part
- 26:32of me gets it. But at the same time, it's still
- 26:34dumb. It's still stupid.
- 26:36If you don't want to be a Jets fan, don't be a Jets fan.
- 26:40Or. If you want to be a Jets fan but
- 26:43don't support what they're doing, quit supporting them
- 26:45financially by going to the games.
- 26:48Exactly giving. Them your money.
- 26:50I caught a lot with like and this happened a lot.
- 26:54I mean, not to get political here, so sorry advance, but this
- 26:58whole this whole Bud Light thing with Dylan Mulvaney, people
- 27:02didn't like it. And so guess what?
- 27:04They quit buying Bud Light and get what a Bud Light do.
- 27:07They switched smokes people. Now they've got Shane Gillis.
- 27:10It's just a thing. If you don't like it, if you
- 27:12don't like what your organization is doing, quit
- 27:15going, quit buying their stuff. Quit doing their things.
- 27:19You, you, the financial burden that these people are going to
- 27:23take by the bad coach or the bad, whatever that you think
- 27:26they have, it's going to hurt more than the city in that
- 27:29stadium. And booing, because guess what?
- 27:31They've already got your money. You're already wearing the Aaron
- 27:34Rodgers Jets jersey. Oh, wait, that doesn't work out
- 27:37either. It's just this whole thing,
- 27:39right? They've already got your money.
- 27:41You're just wasting your own energy at that point.
- 27:43If you don't want to support the team, quit supporting the team.
- 27:46Booing does nothing. Yeah, I just.
- 27:49I just think that just booing is just the dumbest thing that you
- 27:52can do as an NFL fan. And if you do it, I don't think
- 27:55you're really a true fan of that team.
- 27:58I don't because if you were really a true fan, if you're
- 28:02really a true fan, you would not Boo your own team.
- 28:05You would help them in any way that you can as a fan to win
- 28:08that game and to get back in the game when they're not playing
- 28:11well. You would not Boo them.
- 28:12If you Boo, you are not a true fan.
- 28:15I'll just leave it at that. Do you have anything else to add
- 28:17Will? I don't think I do.
- 28:20OK, all right, let me hit you back with a question about being
- 28:23a fan here. Oh, no, we're not moving on yet.
- 28:26Oh no, we're we're dragging our feet on this one.
- 28:29Let me hit you back with this with this, with this thing here.
- 28:31Let me let me pull the text up because I want to read it
- 28:33verbatim. OK, so so let's back up.
- 28:35I have this is a a multi parter here.
- 28:38I am an incredibly superstitious fan.
- 28:41I try to do the same thing every game day that we win.
- 28:46And I do mean we, I'm, I'm part of it.
- 28:48Just like we talked about booing.
- 28:50I'm part of it now. You sent me a test.
- 28:53So on on Thursday, biggest game of the season so far for the
- 28:56Rams. I'm doing everything I can.
- 28:58I have my Rams cup that I've I've used on the show.
- 29:02I only drink liquid out of that Rams cup on game day and and I
- 29:07wear my I'm not wondering right now, but on game days I wear my
- 29:09Ram's hat and I only drink liquid out of my Ram's cup.
- 29:11I have like 9 different liquids in that Dang cup on on Thursday.
- 29:15I think I overdid it. That's why they lost.
- 29:17I'm a scare look back trying to try to find a sweet spot they
- 29:21lost. I need I need a friend to rehone
- 29:23in my my my superstition. But you texted me on Sunday and
- 29:30said find it now. Oh.
- 29:33I know exactly. I can tell you exactly what I
- 29:34said. There it is.
- 29:35I truly believe I am a cursed sports fan, or I truly I am
- 29:40cursed as a sports fan. What makes you say that?
- 29:44Let's start there. Let's just start with what makes
- 29:46you say that, OK? So I'll go back to when I was a
- 29:49Cowboys fan, and I know that the Cowboys not making the NFC
- 29:52Championship Game started before I was actually a fan.
- 29:56However, I have been begging Jerry Jones to get a dominant
- 30:01interior player for years, and two weeks after I stopped being
- 30:07a Cowboys fan is the only time Jerry Jones decided to get a
- 30:12dominant interior defensive player.
- 30:14Two weeks after I decided to be a Bucs fan.
- 30:18And their record when I became a Bucs fan had nothing to do with
- 30:22becoming a Bucs fan. But they were six and two at one
- 30:24point, and ever since I became a Bucs fan, their season has gone
- 30:28down the tank. OK, now there's more to this.
- 30:33My secondary team, because of my wife, is the Pittsburgh
- 30:36Steelers. We started dating in 2017, so
- 30:42that's when they became my secondary team.
- 30:45Guess when the last time the Steelers won a playoff game was
- 30:49that very season. Oh, all right, all right.
- 30:56That was the. Last time they won a playoff
- 30:57game. Any sports team that is
- 31:00associated with me at all will never win anything.
- 31:04The Oregon Ducks and will. I got to apologize to you
- 31:06because you're a Ducks fan and Avery because he's a Ducks fan.
- 31:09They've been to the championship game twice since since I've been
- 31:13a fan, lost both of them and they haven't come close to going
- 31:17back to it since. Like.
- 31:19Last year in the College Football Playoff, got absolutely
- 31:23wrecked by Ohio State in that game because, and here here's
- 31:29another thing too, not only am I cursed as a sports fan, but if I
- 31:33watch the game, the cursing goes up to the next level.
- 31:39I watch that game terrible. No, I'm not kidding.
- 31:43The Bucks game, I was at church for the first part of that.
- 31:46For the first hour of that Bucks game on Sunday, as soon as I, I
- 31:49look at the score like I didn't look at the score one time when
- 31:52I was at church for that hour, soon as I look at the score,
- 31:55it's 2:50. So Bucks are winning as soon as
- 31:58I turn it on, like as soon as I leave church, it's on my phone
- 32:01while I'm driving home. As soon as I turn it on, the
- 32:03Buccaneers start sucking the entire rest of the game that I'm
- 32:07watching. They sucked and they were
- 32:09winning before that. I'm not kidding you.
- 32:11Like when I say I truly believe I am cursed as a sports fan.
- 32:14I truly, truly believe that I am cursed as a sports fan.
- 32:18No team that I've ever been a fan of has won a championship,
- 32:21and no team that I'm ever going to be a fan of will ever win a
- 32:25championship. That's just how it is.
- 32:27So the Cowboys are free now. Like, I wasn't sure honestly if
- 32:31it was me or you will. But now I know that it's me
- 32:34because the Bucks, the Bucks are just the Bucks are just tanking
- 32:38and the Rams are probably going to win the Super Bowl.
- 32:40So it just confirmed. That it was me.
- 32:43OK, all right, I loud and clear. Understood.
- 32:49So let me pose this question to the seven people on the Internet
- 32:52that are actually going to see this Joe and I very different
- 32:56kind of and I was very much called what Joe just said.
- 32:59Everything you said is a sports fan superstition, right like
- 33:04that. I I have a a ritual every game
- 33:07day. This is what I do.
- 33:09Joe has a a firm superstitious belief, whether it's true or not
- 33:15about his fandom with with sports teams.
- 33:18I want to hear from the people on the Internet.
- 33:20What are some of your the superstitions, your game day
- 33:24rituals? I want to hear from people.
- 33:26I want to see what kind of cooked beliefs we have out there
- 33:30by I believe and I have to figure out how to fix this now.
- 33:34I believe that if I don't drink every liquid on game day out of
- 33:37my Rams cup, they will lose because the one day the one game
- 33:41since getting it the one game I didn't do it was Panthers game
- 33:44and guess what? They've lost the Panthers every
- 33:47other game like Oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah.
- 33:49And then just figuring it out, I it's got to be something with my
- 33:53hat. It's got to be it.
- 33:55But yeah, I want to hear, I want to hear the people from the
- 33:59people. What kind of fan superstitions
- 34:02and fan game day rituals do we have that that we don't do?
- 34:05Our team's going to lose. I like that.
- 34:09That's a good question. All right, let's move on to our
- 34:13last segment of the show here. And this is a Christmas related
- 34:17segment. So it's a fantasy combination of
- 34:20fantasy football and Christmas. So what we're doing is we're
- 34:23going to give you guys our Week 17 starts and sits, but we're
- 34:27calling it our fantasy football naughty and nice list.
- 34:31So obviously on your nice list it's your starts and on your
- 34:35naughty list it's your sits. So will you can go first.
- 34:38Give us your fantasy football Week 17 naughty and nice list so
- 34:42week. 17 on the nice list for starts.
- 34:44This one's incredibly obvious. Well, we're going to start with
- 34:47Devon Atrien. He is, and again, it's way too
- 34:50obvious. If you have them, you're
- 34:51starting. Of course you are.
- 34:52But he is a Dolphins player and so there is just absolute
- 34:55hesitation because we've got Quinn Ewers back there now, but
- 35:00Devon Etrien has been an absolute tear.
- 35:02He's 3rd and overall fantasy points.
- 35:04The last two weeks he's put up at 18.7 and 18 points and you
- 35:09can go back to their bye week. His lowest point total overall
- 35:13since week 13 has been 17 1/2 points.
- 35:16He's active in the passing game. He's active in the run game.
- 35:19He is the Dolphins CNC. You've got CMC in in on the West
- 35:24Coast, You've got the VON agent on the East Coast.
- 35:26That Dolphins team, they're in Tampa Bay this week or excuse
- 35:29me, their home for Tampa Bay this weekend.
- 35:32Sorry to say this out loud, but Tampa Bay's defense has been
- 35:34suspect recently. I suspected VON agent to blow up
- 35:39this weekend even more so he's going to win people fantasy
- 35:42championships this weekend. I just hope you're not going up
- 35:44against him. My second guy, you want me to
- 35:47keep going or you want to switch off here?
- 35:49We can. Switch.
- 35:49We can switch, give me an opportunity to save some guys if
- 35:54just in case you have the same guy.
- 35:56So, yeah, yeah, for sure. All right, so my first.
- 35:58Guy is Patriots running back room Andre Stevenson.
- 36:02Oh yeah. He's going.
- 36:03Up against The Jets this week and The Jets are 28th in rushing
- 36:06yards allowed. They allow an average of 133.7
- 36:10rushing yards per game. And Trayvon Henderson went down
- 36:13with a head injury last game and after he went out with that
- 36:16injury, they just relied on Stevenson to finish that game
- 36:19for them. So I don't know if Henderson's
- 36:21going to play, but even if he does, I think Stevenson will
- 36:25still get a lot of carries and a lot of usage in this game
- 36:28because The Jets are just so bad against the run that I, I think
- 36:32that they're just, that's going to be their game plan.
- 36:34They're going to just run the ball and that's how they're
- 36:36going to win. They probably don't even have to
- 36:38throw 1 pass. Honestly, that's how bad The
- 36:39Jets are against the run like that.
- 36:42They could probably just just run the entire game and they
- 36:45would win that game. So reminder, Stevenson is
- 36:50absolutely on my week 17 nice list for fantasy football
- 36:54because Henderson may not be playing and The Jets are just
- 36:58really bad against the run they're trying.
- 37:00To get two time Pro Bowler Drake made MVP.
- 37:03They're going to throw the ball. OK, fine, but I'm just saying
- 37:07they don't have to. If they don't want to, they
- 37:09don't. Have to they don't have to,
- 37:12right? My second person on my my nice
- 37:15list over here. And this is going to be this is
- 37:17going to be a bit out there. I don't think it's going to be
- 37:19well received, but I'm dealing with Ted McMillan.
- 37:23They're playing the Seahawks this week and that's going to
- 37:25that's a rough draw. That is a rough draw.
- 37:28But they're at home playing the Seahawks.
- 37:30And if you think about the teams the Panthers are beat, they're
- 37:33beating teams that they should not be beating.
- 37:34They beat the Rams. They beat Packers.
- 37:37They pull this up. They beat the Packers.
- 37:39That was the other one. Thank you.
- 37:40They beat teams that they should not be beating.
- 37:43And Bryce Young has finished the season way better than he has
- 37:47started the season. Ted McMillan and Bryce Young
- 37:49together have have put together quite, quite the experience
- 37:55toward the end of the season. We've had two games since
- 37:57they're by against New Orleans, and because everybody was in
- 38:00Week 14, he didn't do great against New Orleans.
- 38:03The Saints beat. The Saints have just been an
- 38:05absolute terror the last three weeks.
- 38:08They've decided. Tyler Shark decided, hey, I'm
- 38:10going to win Rookie of the Year. I'm just going to do it.
- 38:12So buckle up. I'm just going to win it in
- 38:15three weeks. Two weeks ago against New
- 38:17Orleans, he only got 4 targets, but that's they were down or
- 38:20they weren't down, they were down but they just weren't able
- 38:23to turn the ball well. But last week against Tampa Bay,
- 38:25he got 10 targets, 6 receptions, 73 yards and a touchdown.
- 38:30I expect this game against Seattle to be a tough one.
- 38:33They're going to have to throw the ball.
- 38:34They're they're at home, which is a huge help.
- 38:37Defence does travel, which I'm going to end up saying again
- 38:40later, but I think that's the the overall advantage for height
- 38:45and skill. I, I don't want to call a skill
- 38:47event. I don't think Ted Midland is
- 38:48better than than the Seattle defense.
- 38:51But for a for a rookie, he's playing out of his out of his
- 38:54mind the end of the season. He is on my start list, which
- 38:58again, I think is not going to be high, well received because
- 39:01I'm going to be the Seahawk, the bad overall, bad match up.
- 39:05There's a lot of people, a lot of height on that, on that
- 39:08Seahawks team, and he's just a piece of it.
- 39:10Excuse me, I want to hide in the Panthers team.
- 39:12Yeah, I want to hide in the Panthers team.
- 39:13I heard it after I said it. All right, my next guy, Browns
- 39:20tight end Harold Fannon junior, is on my Week 17 fantasy
- 39:24football nice list because he's going up against the Pittsburgh
- 39:27Steelers. And the Steelers are one of two
- 39:30teams this season that have allowed over 1000 yards and 10
- 39:34receiving touchdowns to tight ends this year, one of two teams
- 39:38in three of his last four games. Harold Fannon Junior has scored
- 39:41a touchdown and in two of his last three games he's had double
- 39:45digit targets. So I think the connection
- 39:47between shooter Sanders and Harold Fannon Junior is really
- 39:51good and it's only getting better.
- 39:53And the Steelers are just not good against tight ends.
- 39:57And so that's why I have Harold Fannon Junior on my nice list in
- 40:00week 17 it and he's probably a guy that you picked up on
- 40:05waivers if you have them on your team.
- 40:06You probably didn't draft him. You probably picked him up on
- 40:09waivers. And so there's a possibility
- 40:11that you have another tight end who is also a really solid
- 40:14option. So if you can find a way to
- 40:17start both of those tight ends, start both of them, start one at
- 40:20tight end and start one in flex. You have to start Harold Fanning
- 40:24Junior against the Steelers because they're just really bad
- 40:27against tight ends this year. Well, give us your #3.
- 40:30My #3 same game actually, but I'm opposite side here.
- 40:34I've got Steelers running back Kenneth Gangwell.
- 40:37He's balling right now. He is absolutely balling right
- 40:40now. He's getting about 50% of the
- 40:41snapshare. So between him and Jalen Warren,
- 40:43he's getting about 50%. Warren's getting about 50%.
- 40:46Warren's big breakout was two. I think it was two different 45
- 40:50yard touchdown runs. I don't think you can expect
- 40:53that against his Browns defense. I think Aaron Rodgers going to
- 40:56be needing extra help, extra throw support and that's where
- 41:01Kenneth Gangwell comes in. Gangwell is their receiving
- 41:03target if you're in a full point PPR league or even a half point
- 41:07PPR league if you are if you is a 0.
- 41:09If it is a non PPR league, I would not recommend starting
- 41:13Gangwell. I wouldn't do it if you are in a
- 41:16a full point or half point PPR league.
- 41:18Over the last three games he's had six receptions. 6 receptions
- 41:22on 7 targets against Baltimore, 7 for seven against Miami and
- 41:27then last week, first Detroit, he had five receptions for seven
- 41:30on 7 targets, one of them being that awesome touchdown.
- 41:33I mean, I like. In, that's arguably.
- 41:35Play of the year like like that was huge.
- 41:38That was crazy yeah. And so he's he's getting the
- 41:41targets, he's getting the snapshare.
- 41:43He doesn't get as many rushes 9 attempts, but but even in even
- 41:48in his rushing attempts, he's still making the most of them 9
- 41:51attempts. He got 50 yards out of it last
- 41:52week and it's Detroit, it's Miami.
- 41:54He had 13 rushing attempts, got 80 yards.
- 41:57He's just not in he's just not in their their package at go on
- 42:02end zone. So he doesn't need a lot of
- 42:04rushing touchdowns. But if you have a if you're in a
- 42:06full point PPR lead, we would have point PPR lead.
- 42:08His value in the in the receiving game is is too high
- 42:12not to play, especially it's his Browns team.
- 42:15Miles Garrett is looking to break the sack record this week
- 42:18against Aaron Rodgers and so him Aaron was going to have to hit
- 42:21the bottom of his hand quick and especially because DK Metcalf
- 42:24just got suspended for two games.
- 42:25No DK. Metcalf DK is.
- 42:27Out and so they're they're going to need someone and Yingwell
- 42:30looks like a receiver. He's just too short.
- 42:35All right, cool. So, well, since you only have
- 42:37two guys on your naughty list, I'm going to give my last guy on
- 42:42my nice list and then I'll just go straight into my first
- 42:45naughty list guy that way. I'll I go, you go, I go, you
- 42:48guys go. So, OK, so my last guy on my
- 42:52nice list is Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
- 42:56He's on the nice list for fantasy football this week.
- 42:59That guy is balling right now. I said that I don't believe in
- 43:02the Jags last week and they shut me up real quick.
- 43:07They did. Trevor Lawrence hasn't thrown an
- 43:09interception in the last four weeks.
- 43:11The Jags offense put up 34 points on the Broncos defense,
- 43:14which you can make an argument is the best defense in the NFL.
- 43:18That's an easy argument to make. The Colts, who he's going
- 43:21against, just allowed Brock Purdy to throw for 295 yards and
- 43:25five touchdown passes. So Trevor Lawrence is going up
- 43:29against the Colts. And the Jags just made the
- 43:31playoffs last week. But the Jags are still playing
- 43:34for something here. Even though they've already made
- 43:35the playoffs, they're still playing for something because
- 43:37they still have a shot to get the one seed in the AFC.
- 43:41They there's a lot of things that need to happen still, but
- 43:44they still have a shot at it. And so until they don't have a
- 43:47shot anymore, the Jags are going to be giving it their best shot.
- 43:50And we're seeing the best version of the Jacksonville
- 43:53Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence right now.
- 43:55OK, so from the first guy on my fantasy football naughty list
- 43:59for Week 17, I have Panthers running back Rico Dowdle.
- 44:04And the reason for that is because they're playing the
- 44:06Seahawks. So it's kind of like the
- 44:07opposite of what Will's doing here, but they're playing the
- 44:10Seahawks, who are the third best rush defense in the NFL.
- 44:14They only allow 94.1 rushing yards per game.
- 44:17And Dowdell has had a total of 42 fantasy points over the last
- 44:22four games, which is an average of 10.5.
- 44:25So it's already not great and now he's going up against the
- 44:28third best running defense in the NFLI.
- 44:31Don't really see a way for Rico Dowdell to get a lot of fantasy
- 44:36points in this game, especially because he does split time with
- 44:39Hubbard. And so, you know, maybe one game
- 44:42he gets 18 carries, the next game he gets 8 carries.
- 44:45There's just not really consistency there.
- 44:47They kind of just ride whoever has the hot hand.
- 44:49And maybe it is Dottle, but I don't think really in this game
- 44:52that either one of these guys are really going to have a huge
- 44:55game because that Seattle defense is very tough to go
- 44:58against. All right, Who's your first guy
- 45:00on your naughty list, Will? This is a guy we we talked
- 45:03about, I mean, you talked about kind of briefly, I'm going to go
- 45:08with 49ers quarterback Brock party.
- 45:11He is on my knowledge list. I I think people are going to
- 45:14buy in too much to the but he just did so good against
- 45:18Indianapolis. Yep, he did.
- 45:21He sure did. The last two weeks he would have
- 45:23been Tennessee in Indianapolis. He's played pretty soft defenses
- 45:27the last couple weeks. Indianapolis has a bunch of
- 45:29people out. Tennessee sucks.
- 45:31Nothing else to say about them. He's been hurt a lot of the
- 45:33season. But this week they go up against
- 45:36the Bears and they're they're home.
- 45:38They're home against the Bears yes, but I it is a completely
- 45:43different team. This bears team have to prove
- 45:45something, maybe to me specifically, but to a lot of
- 45:48people. I I cannot stand this bears
- 45:51team. But but they're they're good
- 45:53right. There's nothing else to say
- 45:55about this defense. Brock pretty don't get sucked
- 45:57into it based on his last two weeks performance.
- 45:59Be there to see. They had him sitting last week,
- 46:01I'm sure and then they're going to Oh, I got a plan this week.
- 46:04I I think he's he's in to be humbled a bit.
- 46:07This team is nuts. I I don't think they're going to
- 46:10be ready for for this bears team the way they should be,
- 46:13especially because both teams still both bears and Niners have
- 46:18something to play for. They both can get to 1 seed.
- 46:20They both can get a first round, buy home field, avenge to the
- 46:23playoffs. I think the bears going to come
- 46:25out and smash them in the mouth. Unfortunately, although kind of
- 46:28fortunately I I'm really torn on this one.
- 46:31I hate the bears, but I need the Niners to lose.
- 46:33So I I don't know what how to feel about this game.
- 46:38Well, Bears fans, if you're listening, soak that in because
- 46:40that's probably the nicest will will ever be to the Bears right
- 46:43there. So soak that.
- 46:45Soak that in while you can't. Absolutely.
- 46:48Bear didn't lie. That's the best.
- 46:50You're in it for me. All right, so my second guy on
- 46:55my naughty list is Eagles wide receiver Devante Smith.
- 46:58He is 100% on the naughty list for week 17 fantasy football.
- 47:02Because they're going up up against the Bills and the Bills
- 47:05are the second best team against the past this season.
- 47:08They allow just 167.1 passing yards per game.
- 47:12What they lack in the ability to defend the run, they make up for
- 47:17and the ability to defend the pass.
- 47:19And so this is the perfect game for what the Eagles want to do.
- 47:22The Eagles want to run the ball right.
- 47:24That's what they want to do. That's their identity.
- 47:26They want to run the ball. The Bills are really bad at
- 47:30defending the run, but they're really good at defending the
- 47:33pass. And we've seen throughout this
- 47:35season that Jalen Hurts hasn't been very good lately at
- 47:39throwing the ball. He just hasn't been very good.
- 47:41And so this is the perfect game for the Eagles to execute the
- 47:45game plan that they want to execute going up against this
- 47:49defense. And I don't think that that
- 47:51involves Devante Smith very much in this game because they know
- 47:55that the Bills have a bad run defense.
- 47:57And so they're just going to run the ball as much as possible.
- 48:00Yeah. For my last Naughty List entity
- 48:03here, I've got the entire roster of the Kansas City Chiefs and
- 48:09Joe, you called it pre show the literal entire roster start to
- 48:13face star with Chris Oklahoma Dokan on the dokan.
- 48:18I think I don't know. Just say, just say the third
- 48:21string quarterback just. Yeah, well, he's there.
- 48:23Just keep it out. So that so that guy, right.
- 48:24You had two guys tear the ratios in back-to-back weeks and then
- 48:28they they lost horribly to the Titans.
- 48:32Just abysmal loss. And then you say, yeah, but
- 48:36Mahomes is out and their back was out.
- 48:38Listen, defence, how many defensive starters they have
- 48:41out? I don't think it was that many,
- 48:43if any. I'm sure somebody's I'm sure I'm
- 48:45going to get roasted for that. But let me tell you, not that
- 48:48many. Not enough to lose 30 something
- 48:50to to 9. And so if if they're going,
- 48:54they're at home versus Denver this week.
- 48:57If you have anybody in the Kansas City Chiefs, I would not
- 48:59play them. Denver just got bodied by the
- 49:02Jackson, the Jaguars at home. The one thing they want to do
- 49:05right now is is secure the AFC West.
- 49:08They don't have it locked up yet because the the Chargers keep
- 49:10winning. They need another in conference,
- 49:13in division win against the Chiefs.
- 49:16They're looking to put the Chiefs in the dirt all their way
- 49:20through the dirt. So if you have anybody in the
- 49:22Chiefs roster, I would just go ahead and sit them this week.
- 49:26I agree. I have Travis Kelsey as my last
- 49:29guy on my sit list, on my naughty list because of that.
- 49:33Like they've got their third string quarterback in.
- 49:35They were terrible against the Titans, and now they're going
- 49:38against the Broncos defense, which is arguably the best
- 49:41defense in the NFL, who just had a really bad game against the
- 49:45Jaguars. So not only are the Broncos
- 49:47going to be pissed off, but they're going against a third
- 49:50string quarterback. They're going to absolutely
- 49:53wreck the Chiefs offense and you cannot start Travis Kelsey
- 49:56against the Broncos this week because of that.
- 49:59It's also the night game on Christmas.
- 50:03Like this Denver team is going. They just got destroyed by the
- 50:06Jaguars. They're going to show up so big.
- 50:11It's Christmas. We want to be home with our
- 50:13families. We have to be out here in the
- 50:15middle of Kansas City, MO. For now, it's just I, I, I fear
- 50:22for the Chiefs this week, this week, Christmas night.
- 50:24If you're a Chiefs fan on Christmas night, go ahead and
- 50:27spend time doing something else. This is a game you don't have to
- 50:30watch. Although the Broncos are really
- 50:34good at finding a way to keep it A1 score game when they win.
- 50:36Yeah, you're right. They're really.
- 50:37Good. It's going to be, it's going to
- 50:38be a Fuel game and it's going to be, it'll be, it'll be 3 to 2
- 50:44sign of score, no team. Wants to win.
- 50:48That would be awesome. That would be so awesome,
- 50:50wouldn't you? Wouldn't that be awesome?
- 50:52Yes, I think it would be actually even.
- 50:55Better, let's just get a two to two tie a.
- 50:57Two to two tie it. Yeah, that's the so that starts
- 51:01at 8:15. Their time, A2 to two time means
- 51:05we're playing 70 minutes of ready around football. 60
- 51:08regulation, 10 overtime. That wouldn't get over until the
- 51:1126th over there. Like that's going until till
- 51:14Friday. That would be miserable for
- 51:17those fans. 100%, All right. Well, will do you have anything
- 51:23to add before we wrap it up here?
- 51:24Hey. Merry Christmas, everyone, happy
- 51:26Hanukkah that just ended. I don't know what day this
- 51:28episode's going to come out. It's just two of us, so I don't
- 51:30know when you're going to get recorded, but if it's pre
- 51:33Christmas, Merry Christmas. If it's after Christmas, just
- 51:35remember that we did just have Christmas, right?
- 51:38Maybe just be a little bit nice, all right?
- 51:40Just just be a little bit nice. That's all I have Eagles fans.
- 51:44Also, if you're in a parking lot, learn how to drive.
- 51:47Everybody is just waiting for you to move your ass.
- 51:50Get out of the way. Sorry Dwayne, I I just pretty
- 51:54passionate about this one. Anyway, Merry Christmas
- 51:57everybody. A Merry Christmas everyone, and
- 52:00as always guys, don't forget to keep your Jingle balls played
- 52:03with. We'll see you next time.
- 52:05Bye there y'all. Also, Mark Davis's haircut still
- 52:10sucks.
