- 0:30notification bell, guys. So white noise.
- 0:33I'm going to talk about this. Stimming is where you have a
- 0:36self stimulatory behavior, which is basically a repetitive
- 0:39behavior that autistic people find enjoyment out of.
- 0:41This could be rocking back in the forwards, This could be
- 0:43humming a tune, humming a noise, it could be moving in a certain
- 0:48way, it could be flicking their fingers, flapping their hands,
- 0:50it could be many things. A lot of times I'm going to see
- 0:52people with autism kind of like move a pencil around over their
- 0:56eyes. This is again another factor of
- 0:57stimming. However, what we never talk
- 1:00about is the importance of white noise and steaming.
- 1:03Now white noise is, if you don't know, it's kind of like that
- 1:05noise that the TV makes when it's like fuzzy and Gray and
- 1:09that white noise when you hear it becomes repetitive, kind of
- 1:12like rain noise when it's raining outside and you get all
- 1:14relaxed and cozy. That's your mind stimming to the
- 1:17audio or the rain outside. So autistic individuals love to
- 1:21stem to white noise and ring noise and anything really that's
- 1:26that's it could be a buzzing of a tattoo gun that will help them
- 1:29self soothe because this is an an emotional stem you're you're
- 1:33emotionally connecting to that and it's repetitive which gives
- 1:35you a feeling of security because it's knowing what's
- 1:39happening next you know that the ring noise is going to continue
- 1:42on because you know the ring noise sounds like you know the
- 1:43white noise sounds like fascinating.
- 1:46Nobody talks about this. It's it's one of the biggest
- 1:48things that nobody talks about. The other thing about stemming
- 1:51is why do autistic people stem when they happy and or they're
- 1:56scared? Because they are emotional
- 1:59deregulators. So people with autism tend to
- 2:02not be able to regulate their emotions, right.
- 2:05And when emotion comes from something, energy in motion, now
- 2:08you feel energy and you want to put that energy into motion.
- 2:11Now a lot of people will have control over their emotions,
- 2:14their energy in motion. Where they'll say I'm sad, so
- 2:16therefore I'm about to cry. Statistic individuals won't feel
- 2:19like that. They'll have all this energy and
- 2:21they have nowhere to put it. They have to put into motion
- 2:22somehow. So it comes out in a stem, you
- 2:24know, flapping their hands, rocking back to the forward,
- 2:26jumping up and down, not sitting still.
- 2:28Fascinating area. We never, never think about the
- 2:30energy in motion and we also have never thought about white
- 2:33noise. Now I've.
- 2:34I've just blown your mind with a white noise.
