- 0:00Happy Wednesday morning, everybody.
- 0:03On this Wednesday night we are racing dirt.
- 0:07We are racing on dirt at Tri-City Speedway in Granite
- 0:12City, IL. It's all part of the Hell Tour.
- 0:16It's hell 'cause it's 100° out and it can be rough, but it is
- 0:21the summer Nationals. Looking forward to running my
- 0:25Sunoco Dirt car over there tonight.
- 0:27So as they say down South, y'all come out now here.
- 0:34All right everybody. I don't want to do it, I don't
- 0:40want to do it, but it's everywhere.
- 0:42I always say that I report. I report on what I see Bob
- 0:49Pockrash or Jeff Cluck say, and Jeff Cluck has done some big
- 0:55reporting on this. And man, you know, it's one of
- 1:00those deals where it's none of our business.
- 1:03Doesn't have anything to do with me, but boy, it sure as a hell
- 1:07of a soap opera. NASCAR wants to know every
- 1:15team's financial records. Now, let's let's not get
- 1:21sophisticated here. I don't want y'all telling me,
- 1:26you know, this or that. All I'm saying is NASCAR said to
- 1:33Judge Bell. I remember.
- 1:36Yeah. Lou's like, what the hell?
- 1:39Judge Bell is the guy's name. He's the one.
- 1:43He's the judge presiding over this man.
- 1:47They are. They are going at it.
- 1:50I mean, this, this is a damn battle Royale, it appears to me
- 1:54now this is my opinion. NASCAR is getting more pissed by
- 1:59the day, NASCAR said. Well, the article reads, The
- 2:05article reads. NASCAR wants 12 of the 15 teams
- 2:10now 12 of the 15 teams. So if one of the teams was, you
- 2:16know, Hendrick, that's four cars.
- 2:18And if the other one is Joe gives us another, you know, so
- 2:2312 of the 15 teams, that's basically everybody.
- 2:27NASCAR wants to see the financial records because
- 2:34NASCAR's like here, here's what NASCAR says.
- 2:37NASCAR says you all are making money and you want more.
- 2:41That's pissing us off. Now I said that NASCAR's getting
- 2:48mad because they feel like the teams have plenty money and they
- 2:52don't need any more. The teams are saying this in the
- 2:56article. It says it takes as much as
- 2:5918,000,000 a year to run each car.
- 3:04So the the story is this. Are you all spending the money?
- 3:11I think the word they used was egregiously, and I'll put it in
- 3:16herminator terms. Are you all wasting money trying
- 3:20to be big time? Well, I mean, what is wasting
- 3:24money? You're running, you know,
- 3:26NASCAR's got jets now. I have seen Ben Kennedy and I've
- 3:31seen Steve O'Donnell on commercial airliners.
- 3:35I, I was on with them. I was at the Daytona airport and
- 3:39I got on a plane and there's old Ben Kennedy and we had a nice
- 3:41little talk and then I was sitting in first class and here
- 3:45comes Steve O'Donnell. He looked at me and he said
- 3:48Herman. So NASCAR does fly their
- 3:56executives commercial, but I'm, I'm assuming you got to have you
- 4:02got to have airplanes. You you're not going to be able
- 4:04to run 39 weekends out of the year commercial.
- 4:09All the teams have got, you know, they, they charter big
- 4:12airplanes. I mean, do you need a motorhome?
- 4:18I think you do. I think you do.
- 4:20Now, let me tell you about me. When I raced the NASCAR, you
- 4:25know, there was 250,000 people at all the races.
- 4:31So I had to have a motorhome. You did not dare leave that
- 4:34racetrack. If you left a racetrack with two
- 4:37hundred 250,000 people, you couldn't get back in.
- 4:41So I had a motorhome. I had a motorhome driver, I had
- 4:44a King Air 200 airplane, and I had a pilot.
- 4:48So right, there's two employees just being a race car driver.
- 4:53I also took that airplane and went around and serviced my
- 4:57sponsors every week. Square D they were wanting me to
- 5:02give speeches, you know, go here, go there.
- 5:04So I'd run a race on Sunday and on Tuesday I'd be somewhere in
- 5:08America giving speeches because the sponsor paid me not just for
- 5:14that name on the car. There's way more you got to do
- 5:17it do appearances, speeches, autograph sessions.
- 5:21So you have to what we call service to sponsor.
- 5:26So that's stuff you can't do commercial.
- 5:29So I I don't know that these teams are wasting money.
- 5:33I will say that, you know, this next Gen. car was no joke, but
- 5:38you know it. Where you going to get that
- 5:40money? So when when they brought the
- 5:42new car in when they brought the new next Gen. car in, where you
- 5:46going to get that fresh money and what are you going to do
- 5:49with what are you going to do with the cars that you've been
- 5:52running? You can't sell them so you smash
- 5:55them. I don't I don't see you know,
- 5:59arka taking them. I don't see the Xfinity series
- 6:02taking them. It won't work.
- 6:04They're Cup cars and that's all they are.
- 6:06Now. You might be able to use some of
- 6:08the parts, but I believe it does take every bit of 15,000,000.
- 6:15How much does the driver make? So you see what I'm saying?
- 6:20You got payroll, you got planes, you got buses, you got parts
- 6:26pieces. It takes a lot to run this deal.
- 6:30The bottom line is, is NASCAR wants to see if these guys are
- 6:33spending too much money. But, but I want to end like
- 6:38this, everybody, Judge Bell said this.
- 6:44Remember about two weeks ago, I said, the judge said you all go
- 6:48in a locked room and figure this out.
- 6:52Well, they didn't. And Judge Bell said something
- 6:56very profound. He said, I've never seen a group
- 6:59of people wanting to burn the house down, he said, But I'm the
- 7:03fire Marshall. And in December, when this goes
- 7:07to court, I will put the fire out.
- 7:12It's right there. That's what Judge Bell said.
- 7:15I've never seen a group of people trying to burn NASCAR
- 7:20down, burn the sport down. All of you, all together,
- 7:24basically everybody. Why are you trying to burn the
- 7:28sport down? You, you made a living out of
- 7:30this long. Kind of reminds me of what Mark
- 7:35Martin said. Mark said what was wrong with
- 7:40what was wrong in the 90s, Everybody was making a lot of
- 7:43money. What what was wrong?
- 7:46Everything was good back then. Why is it not good now?
- 7:51I don't know. I think Denny Hamlin and Michael
- 7:57Jordan and that whole bunch and, you know, 2311 and not they're
- 8:04not, they're not really, I guess you could say 2311 in front row.
- 8:09They're taking NASCAR to court. I guess they need more money.
- 8:15It's getting ugly, everybody. It's getting ugly.
- 8:20Judge Bell said, I'm going to give you this opportunity to go
- 8:22in, go into a closed room and come out and be done with this.
- 8:27But why would the judge say, I've never seen an effort to
- 8:31burn the sport down? He didn't say sport, but
- 8:35basically what does that mean? What does that mean?
- 8:40Respond right here. And the teams are arguing that
- 8:47if we were to show you our financial records, it could be
- 8:50catastrophic. What does that mean?
- 8:54So I'm asking you 2 things to respond to, Judge Bell says.
- 8:58I've never seen an effort to burn a sport down so hard as
- 9:03NASCAR and 2311 in front row and then the 12 teams that are
- 9:11wanting to, you know, so here's what happens.
- 9:15They said that there was a line of lawyers there, just a line of
- 9:19lawyers for all these teams. And they're all saying it would
- 9:23be catastrophic if everybody knew our business because the
- 9:28article read well, what happens if you know, they're showing
- 9:32what drivers make, you know, all that.
- 9:36That's nobody's business. That's like that's like you
- 9:42getting to see how much money Shawnee or Tony makes.
- 9:45Well, maybe it's worth it because when he gets done
- 9:47hitting, he can also go pitch. But really it's none of my
- 9:51business what you make it. It Listen, it's the same thing
- 9:55as me going around me going to lunch and and going to
- 9:58everybody's table at lunch going how much money you make.
- 10:01And they're, they're appalled. So are you willing?
- 10:07Are are you, Yeah. You are you willing to just put
- 10:10it on? I mean, maybe you will, because
- 10:13maybe you make 52,000 a year. And that's fine.
- 10:16That's great. But I think there's a big
- 10:19portion of people out there just don't want their family and
- 10:22their friends knowing what kind of money they make.
- 10:25It leads to jealousy. It leads to all bad.
- 10:30And it's all got to do with the brain.
- 10:33So that's what these teams are fighting against.
- 10:35We don't want you to know what we're making because it leads to
- 10:39jealousy and it leads to everything.
- 10:42It could lead to NASCAR going. Y'all are spending too much
- 10:44money. See, we told you.
- 10:47All right, respond right here. Have a great Wednesday.
