- 0:23a single decision can ignite a
- 0:27new life.
- 0:30[snort] Hello, community of
- 0:32transformative power, this is Raúl Rivera.
- 0:34As every Wednesday, at this time,
- 0:37through Motiva Activa, we have an
- 0:40interesting communication bridge
- 0:43because all these topics that we address
- 0:46make it possible for them to help us continue moving forward
- 0:49in our lives, to have
- 0:52knowledge, expand it also and above all to
- 0:56put it into practice because today I am
- 1:00going to talk to you about the fear
- 1:03of success.
- 1:05What is the fear of success? Does it
- 1:08exist? Is it possible that there is fear involved
- 1:12in achieving success? Let's first see
- 1:16what this consists of. The
- 1:20conscious or unconscious resistance
- 1:23experienced by
- 1:25anyone who perceives
- 1:29reaching an important goal in their life
- 1:33that can change their life,
- 1:37their relationships, and also the
- 1:42responsibilities that will come into their
- 1:44life. But there is a
- 1:47defense mechanism in the mind. How does it work?
- 1:52She loves to stay in
- 1:55a comfortable, familiar state before
- 1:59venturing into the unknown or
- 2:03uncertainty.
- 2:05So, he prefers to stay in what he knows.
- 2:10It works [clears throat] through
- 2:12thoughts, connection, what
- 2:14people are thinking, and above all, a
- 2:17series of points that I'm going to
- 2:19talk about so you understand how
- 2:21this works, why people
- 2:25are afraid of success. I hope this
- 2:28program can be useful and
- 2:30helpful to you. You will learn about
- 2:33specific points.
- 2:35And you can also record those programs
- 2:37and share them with
- 2:40someone who needs them, a
- 2:42loved one, a family member, someone
- 2:45close to you who you know
- 2:48needs them. First point, [clears throat]
- 2:51fear of change.
- 2:54Success changes people's lives,
- 2:57and many people feel
- 3:02comfortable with what they know; that is,
- 3:06they love living in that comfort,
- 3:10even if it is not satisfying,
- 3:13even if we are not fulfilling ourselves. And do
- 3:16you know what the mind thinks? What
- 3:19thoughts come to mind in this
- 3:21situation?
- 3:23[snort]
- 3:23And if my life changes too much,
- 3:27what's going to happen?
- 3:29So, I won't be able to continue
- 3:31living the way I do, the everyday things. I'm going to have to
- 3:35change drastically. We
- 3:38started thinking about that. And if I no longer
- 3:41have time for my family and
- 3:44family gatherings or the get-togethers I used to have
- 3:47with my friends, will they
- 3:49disappear?
- 3:51And if I stop being who I am. These are some
- 3:54of the thoughts we have,
- 3:58and they trigger alarm bells, making us
- 4:02say, "No, it's better to stay put, better to
- 4:06stick with what's familiar rather than
- 4:09change something whose consequences are unknown and
- 4:12could create uncertainty in my life." The
- 4:17second point is fear of new
- 4:21responsibilities,
- 4:23because achieving success means
- 4:28I have to make changes in my
- 4:30responsibilities. I'm not going to continue
- 4:32living the way I do now.
- 4:35So, what does success bring?
- 4:38Greater commitments. There are
- 4:41important decisions I'll have to make.
- 4:44There's effective leadership I'll have to
- 4:46start employing, and consequently, I wo
- 4:49n't behave as I did before.
- 4:52Why? Because it demands
- 4:56significant changes, and success leads me down
- 4:59different paths, shows me different
- 5:02people, and presents me with other important decisions.
- 5:05And many people feel they won't be able to
- 5:10live
- 5:11under that pressure. What do you think of
- 5:14today's topic? I hope you're
- 5:16enjoying it. If you'd like to share a
- 5:19comment, or say hello,
- 5:21perfect, the chat is there for you to do so right now
- 5:23. Is
- 5:25this topic important? Absolutely. At some
- 5:28point... At some point in our lives,
- 5:30and perhaps even now, you've considered
- 5:33making changes to achieve success in
- 5:37some area you deem important. We've been
- 5:40living
- 5:43almost the same way for many years, and experiencing a
- 5:47successful change brings
- 5:50major consequences. I'm going to talk about
- 5:54the third point:
- 5:56when low self-esteem exists. And what does
- 6:00this have to do with success? A
- 6:03lot. Let me explain. When a
- 6:06person doesn't believe in themselves,
- 6:10when they don't believe in their values, in what they
- 6:14are capable of doing or achieving, then
- 6:18success comes into conflict with
- 6:22the image they have of themselves. There's a
- 6:26conflict,
- 6:28and this logically works
- 6:31through the mind, through my beliefs, which we'll
- 6:35discuss later, but above all, I
- 6:37believe in myself. Now, an
- 6:41internal dialogue begins to emerge in my mind,
- 6:45in my thoughts: "
- 6:48I'm not
- 6:50good enough for this." Notice how this internal
- 6:55chatter begins, and suddenly we start
- 6:58sabotaging ourselves with these
- 7:01thoughts, preventing us from achieving success.
- 7:04We think, "That's for other people who
- 7:06can do it, not me." Then I
- 7:10begin to dismiss myself. And Another
- 7:13point is, I wasn't born for great things. I'm
- 7:18fine the way I am. Why would I
- 7:21disrupt
- 7:23the good life I'm living?
- 7:26[clears throat]
- 7:27Self-esteem limits a person's growth,
- 7:30development, and
- 7:32progress. It's limiting. That's why
- 7:35there are people on another level.
- 7:39Well, let's say hello to
- 7:43Rubén. [clears throat] Thank you, Rubén, for
- 7:46being here, for saying hello, for
- 7:49tuning in to this program.
- 7:51I hope it's helpful. As well as to everyone else
- 7:54who's connected. A
- 7:55message of appreciation, of affection, or even just
- 7:58a greeting like Rubén's
- 8:01is important to us. Another point is the
- 8:06fear of rejection. These points I
- 8:10'm mentioning are some of the things
- 8:13that make us
- 8:16limit ourselves, hold back, and prevent us from
- 8:18achieving success.
- 8:23Fear of rejection.
- 8:25Success can create
- 8:27differences among friends and
- 8:30family. Of course it can.
- 8:33And these kinds of thoughts start to appear
- 8:37.
- 8:38[clears throat]
- 8:40My friends are going to change towards me because I'm
- 8:43not going to be the same anymore, because I'm going to
- 8:45behave differently, because I'm going to
- 8:47associate with other people. People.
- 8:49So I think my friends are going to
- 8:52abandon me, and I don't want that to happen. My
- 8:56family is going to criticize me. You know
- 8:59that the most direct critics, and
- 9:02sometimes those who don't know how to be critical, are
- 9:04family members: siblings, parents,
- 9:07children.
- 9:08And we have to be
- 9:11mentally strong against that so we don't suffer
- 9:18emotional disappointments. Another point we might
- 9:21consider is, they'll say I've become proud,
- 9:26that I've let so many things go to my
- 9:29head. And for that reason, this fear of
- 9:33rejection holds us back, it doesn't let us
- 9:37move forward. We stay at the same level
- 9:41because we don't want to be rejected by
- 9:44anyone. Do you know people? Has
- 9:47something similar happened to you? Do you want to share your
- 9:51thoughts on this topic? Why can
- 9:55the fear
- 9:57of success, along with these points I'm
- 10:00mentioning, be an
- 10:02important factor? If you're toying with the idea
- 10:07or if you're already working on a project that will
- 10:10lead you to success, some of these points
- 10:13will be important and effective.
- 10:17Elena, let's see what Elena, who's
- 10:19with us every Wednesday, has to say. She
- 10:21says, "Good afternoon, greetings." from
- 10:23Colombia. The fear of success stems from
- 10:26insecurities we have. We don't want to
- 10:30leave that zone called
- 10:34comfort.
- 10:36Elena tells me. That's great, isn't it? When
- 10:38we are talking about some beliefs, I will
- 10:40read them to you, or tell them to you, or
- 10:42comment on them right away when we get to
- 10:45the point of those
- 10:47limiting beliefs.
- 10:50Okay, let's work on them. What do you
- 10:52think about us
- 10:55working on what Elena presented to us right away? They are
- 10:58called beliefs learned in
- 11:02childhood. These
- 11:03are limiting beliefs,
- 11:07and many of us
- 11:09grew up hearing phrases like "
- 11:14money changes people."
- 11:17Rich people are selfish.
- 11:22Money is dirty. One of
- 11:26those phrases we hear is, "Don't
- 11:29stand out because money
- 11:31changes you in life."
- 11:33It is better to be humble
- 11:35than successful.
- 11:38Some of these phrases I'm telling you about, we
- 11:41hear them, yes, we hear them and suddenly we
- 11:45keep repeating them
- 11:47unconsciously,
- 11:49and we can hurt a child, a grandchild, a young person
- 11:53who wants to achieve great things in their
- 11:55life. We must
- 11:58correct this situation because it doesn't
- 12:02lead us to great things in life; it
- 12:05limits us.
- 12:07And when we want to be
- 12:09different people, achieve great dreams,
- 12:13impact
- 12:14society, and bring about change in
- 12:17our family, because the progress of
- 12:20one person can lead to a
- 12:22complete change in the family. It's
- 12:25not from just one person. If I am
- 12:28open to advancing the progress of
- 12:32family or community.
- 12:35What do you think? We are connecting these points of
- 12:37information so that we can not be
- 12:42afraid of
- 12:46success. Through these points they
- 12:48shape us and guide us to
- 12:50become strong and to take
- 12:54important steps in life.
- 12:56Another point is also mentioned:
- 12:59fear of failure after success. But
- 13:02let's see who's greeting us here
- 13:05.
- 13:06Hello, good day
- 13:08to Jorge. The fear of success due to
- 13:12the
- 13:14domestication of society,
- 13:17school, religion, or the circle of
- 13:20influences that are all programmed. Yes,
- 13:24we need to pay attention and be sure about who the
- 13:27people around
- 13:31us are. That circle of those five
- 13:34people who have an influence on
- 13:37our lives. Five. And that was a topic I
- 13:40touched on, I talked about it here how long ago,
- 13:44at least two months ago. If you go and watch
- 13:47the programs, you'll find all
- 13:50this material that helps us
- 13:53strengthen ourselves, believe in ourselves, gain
- 13:57knowledge, and move forward. fear of
- 14:00failure after success.
- 14:04Take a look at this. Paradoxically,
- 14:07some people are not afraid to
- 14:10reach the top, to reach the
- 14:14highest point. The fear or dread is being able to
- 14:18keep it there.
- 14:20And what thoughts go through your mind? Some like
- 14:24this, and what if I fail afterwards,
- 14:29and what if I disappoint everyone,
- 14:32and what if after being on top I fall and
- 14:35never get back up.
- 14:38When a person thinks that way, they
- 14:41are limiting themselves and automatically
- 14:45giving themselves mental instructions for that to
- 14:48happen. In other words, we can't think
- 14:53with that mentality about
- 14:56what's going to happen, right? What should
- 14:59we cultivate? Other types of
- 15:02thoughts that will casually strengthen
- 15:07our mind and make us strong
- 15:10in that
- 15:14belief, in that
- 15:18self-esteem, in the value, in the ability I
- 15:22have to overcome and
- 15:26permanently embrace success.
- 15:30There's another point I'm going to mention, and that's the
- 15:33fear of being visible, of being seen.
- 15:38Yes, it's normal for a
- 15:43successful person to... what's going to happen? It is exposed, it is
- 15:46exposed. They're going to talk, suddenly
- 15:50the media will come out, in the news, on the
- 15:53most important front pages, because that
- 15:56person has already made it. Something big in their
- 16:00life, and if it's not of that magnitude, it
- 16:02can be smaller, but it turns out that on
- 16:05social media it has a
- 16:07positive influence and they begin to see it
- 16:10visibly,
- 16:12and the greater the achievement, the greater the
- 16:15attention it
- 16:18is receiving visually on social media
- 16:21. What do you want to write to me?
- 16:24Any points, any references, anything you'd
- 16:27like to comment on? Perfect. Okay,
- 16:29who else is here? Who do I have?
- 16:31Jorge,
- 16:32greetings from Osaka, Mexico.
- 16:34Ah, Romero says.
- 16:36Oh, that's great. Greetings. How great that
- 16:38Matías Romero is watching us from
- 16:43Osaka, Mexico. You know? We are
- 16:46open to reaching any part
- 16:48of the world. Only the opportunity to
- 16:51connect on Wednesdays through the
- 16:53transformative power.
- 16:55Who else can tell me?
- 16:57Amparo tells me, we disqualify ourselves
- 17:02and say, that's not for me. Excellent
- 17:06point. That's how it is. Of course, we
- 17:09become our own judges and distance ourselves from the
- 17:13success we can have because we don't
- 17:16believe in ourselves, in that
- 17:19ability
- 17:21you have to face any
- 17:25situation to reach the top of
- 17:28your life. And those are the dreams,
- 17:30to fulfill ourselves, to be
- 17:32able to be that different person, to be able to
- 17:36continue serving my family, my
- 17:40children, society, because I can
- 17:42contribute a lot, but if I continue being the
- 17:46same person, having all the
- 17:48capabilities, being a person who is
- 17:51prepared, educated, with knowledge,
- 17:54but I do nothing, I am passive, I am just there, I am
- 17:59better off doing what I do, and
- 18:03that then becomes a factor in not
- 18:06achieving
- 18:07great goals, great dreams in my
- 18:10life. It's great that you're here
- 18:14through what we do on Wednesdays,
- 18:16active motivation, where we give ourselves the
- 18:21time to create positive
- 18:25learning spaces, to visualize, to
- 18:29comprehend, to understand. The opportunity
- 18:32is for everyone, it's not just for a few
- 18:35people, nor do they have to be the
- 18:37smartest; it's about taking action,
- 18:42taking steps, having guides
- 18:46and knowing how to do things well
- 18:49, not rushing,
- 18:52not suddenly making hasty decisions
- 18:54without having
- 18:56carefully considered the whole picture.
- 19:09We know the objections that may arise, the obstacles that may appear along the way, but sometimes we don't do it
- 19:12because we make
- 19:15hasty decisions.
- 19:17Another point, I'm going to talk to you about another
- 19:19point,
- 19:21and that is
- 19:23perfectionism.
- 19:27Are you a perfectionist?
- 19:29Well, some people are like that, and that
- 19:32has its advantages, but also its
- 19:35disadvantages.
- 19:38The perfectionist may think this
- 19:40way.
- 19:43If I can't do it perfectly, I'd
- 19:47rather not do it at all. Look at that phrase
- 19:51the perfectionist uses.
- 19:54And it's not going to be perfect, I don't do it.
- 19:57Count me out. That kind of thinking
- 20:00delays projects. That way of thinking prevents
- 20:04people from making decisions and,
- 20:07above all, from seeking out
- 20:10opportunities.
- 20:11Because the pursuit of perfection
- 20:15ends up becoming what?
- 20:18in a way of avoiding success, of
- 20:22getting out, of escaping
- 20:25and it may take many years and I don't do it
- 20:29and I don't launch myself because if it's not
- 20:34perfect I don't do anything. Do you know any
- 20:38perfectionists? Has this ever happened to you? Did it fall
- 20:41to us to correct
- 20:45that point?
- 20:46Of course, that takes work, and there are
- 20:49ways to get out of that
- 20:54perfectionism and sometimes face
- 20:58failure, so to speak,
- 21:01which are experiences that shape us
- 21:04to one day achieve success.
- 21:08With all those
- 21:12learning situations we've had, we
- 21:15become strong.
- 21:17And you know, businesses and companies
- 21:20hire people with experience who have
- 21:23managed companies that have had
- 21:27some moderate
- 21:30failure or not a great success. Why
- 21:33? because they know that they are people who have
- 21:35had a
- 21:36learning experience. Today they already have the
- 21:38experience and know how to successfully
- 21:41run a company.
- 21:44That's part of that knowledge, that
- 21:46process that we have and are
- 21:49moving forward with. Let's take a short
- 21:54break because after
- 21:56this pause I'm going to give you a
- 21:58summary to help you identify
- 22:02if you're falling into this
- 22:05fear of success situation. But I'm going to tell you
- 22:08a little about its transformative power. Your
- 22:10servant Raúl Rivera is dedicated to everything related to
- 22:13human development, that is,
- 22:16learning and teaching. We have a
- 22:19series of workshops that we make
- 22:22available to you, our valued
- 22:24audience, who know of companies,
- 22:26businesses, and groups that want to
- 22:28transform their lives through... and how do
- 22:31we make the transformation happen? Through
- 22:33workshops in which we dedicate time to
- 22:36training, to guiding ourselves, to having the
- 22:39possibility again to reorient ourselves.
- 22:42If we have lost our way, we will
- 22:45find the path that
- 22:48leads us to success once again. There on the screen you can
- 22:50see, there you see the information, some of
- 22:53the workshops that I present, that I
- 22:56work with groups, with people,
- 23:01leaders who have people who want to
- 23:03advance in their lives and many times
- 23:06we have some information, but we don't have it
- 23:08complete. Sometimes we have
- 23:10information or instructions
- 23:13given to us by the company, but we lack the
- 23:16learning to achieve great things
- 23:20in life. A series of
- 23:22important workshops; the
- 23:25information, phone number, and email address are there
- 23:27so you can get in touch with
- 23:30us. Okay, a quick little break
- 23:33and I'll go to the last part and a
- 23:35final summary. Hey friends! I'm
- 23:37Raúl Rivera, and through the
- 23:39digital platform Motiva Activa, I invite you to
- 23:43join us live every
- 23:45Wednesday at 1 p.m.
- 23:48Central Time in the United States to
- 23:50enjoy programs we have designed to
- 23:54help you
- 23:57achieve important goals,
- 24:00grow personally, and
- 24:02successfully complete a full year of life.
- 24:07like this 2026 [music] so that you are
- 24:09fulfilled, help you to be at peace and
- 24:12help you to find happiness.
- 24:14[music]
- 24:21We return to the transformative power of Raúl
- 24:23Rivera, your servant, on this very
- 24:26interesting topic.
- 24:29And now I'm going to give you signs. I want you to be
- 24:33aware because some of them
- 24:35may be holding you
- 24:38back or stopping you, or you may be
- 24:42thinking about abandoning your
- 24:46project when you have already given strong
- 24:50signs that a person is afraid
- 24:53of success. to
- 24:56constantly postpone it,
- 24:58that is, to
- 25:01not do it,
- 25:03to delay it, to
- 25:05leave it.
- 25:08And so, well, it's a bad sign
- 25:12because what am I doing? I made
- 25:14a huge effort. I started
- 25:18building my project to achieve
- 25:21success, but I myself abandoned it
- 25:25. That's called procrastination. I
- 25:28never
- 25:30finish
- 25:32the projects I start. It's another
- 25:34sign. There have been many, and I've invested
- 25:39time and money,
- 25:41but I don't know what I want. I'm having
- 25:44trouble and I think that this one I'm going to
- 25:48do, that's the one that
- 25:51will lead me to success, and I keep abandoning
- 25:54projects. Imagine,
- 25:57that's another sign that if you're experiencing it,
- 26:00you should activate it quickly
- 26:04and
- 26:07seriously resume your projects.
- 26:10Change your objective
- 26:13when [clears throat] you are close to
- 26:15achieving it. Look, when we
- 26:17carry out something important, a
- 26:19project, it logically has a
- 26:21series of steps between those objectives that we
- 26:24want to achieve. I've already made
- 26:26significant progress
- 26:29and I'm quite close, but I want to
- 26:32change my goals.
- 26:35These are signs that you are avoiding achieving
- 26:40success, unless you do so
- 26:41consciously, that they are powerful,
- 26:44but that they only serve to
- 26:46relaunch you to that project again.
- 26:50[Clears throat] Another thing is,
- 26:53you find excuses not to move forward, and
- 26:56[Clears throat] you make up a
- 26:58lot of excuses about life or what's
- 27:02happening, but it's a way, it's an
- 27:04excuse to say, "No, I'd better step aside
- 27:06, it's not the right time. It's the
- 27:08government, it's the laws, it's the
- 27:10gas prices, it's anything else, it's
- 27:13humanity, I don't know, excuses to
- 27:17back out and abandon that
- 27:19important project."
- 27:21And another point is self-sabotage.
- 27:24That is, I make excuses for myself, I
- 27:28find excuses to back out.
- 27:32After having thought about it, having
- 27:34invested time, having analyzed it, I
- 27:37start to back out, to get out
- 27:42of it. That's called
- 27:44self-sabotage.
- 27:46Another is avoiding taking the lead.
- 27:51When I want to achieve the success of a
- 27:53project, I am the leader, I take
- 27:56the lead, I steer the ship, I take
- 27:59control, but if I withdraw from that
- 28:02leadership, I leave it practically without a
- 28:06head. Who is going to manage it?
- 28:09How is it going to Getting ahead? There's no
- 28:10way.
- 28:12Another point: rejecting
- 28:15important opportunities. If
- 28:17opportunities are coming your way, if you let them pass you by,
- 28:20if you overthink them, if you
- 28:23rethink them—well, yes, you have to think
- 28:25things through to analyze them—but if it's
- 28:27a great opportunity and you know you
- 28:29can do it, and you can take that
- 28:33path, and you don't, that
- 28:36opportunity is gone and someone else takes it.
- 28:40Sometimes we—and this is another point—
- 28:41minimize our own achievements, what we
- 28:45've done, what we've accomplished. What does that
- 28:46mean? If I've already been on this
- 28:49path, I have to see those achievements.
- 28:53Sometimes we don't see them, other
- 28:55people do, but I myself have to
- 28:57recognize that I've progressed,
- 29:00that I've overcome many obstacles, and that I'm already
- 29:02getting where I want to be.
- 29:06These are stages, and we have to recognize them.
- 29:10Another point is constantly comparing ourselves
- 29:13to others, to other projects, or to
- 29:16other people. "My friend," "
- 29:19This person," "They did it," "
- 29:21I don't know how they did it," and I'm
- 29:24comparing. And sometimes those comparisons
- 29:27can be harmful. malicious,
- 29:30because it's not. What I need to
- 29:32objectively look at is
- 29:35my project, how it is, where it
- 29:38is in terms and on
- 29:40schedule, as I planned or analyzed
- 29:44when I was going to start it.
- 29:46And when we say, "I'm not
- 29:50ready yet," it's a pretty
- 29:54compelling excuse, and one that many people
- 29:56fall into: "I'm not ready, it's not now, it's not
- 29:59the right time," but we've been
- 30:01saying and thinking the same thing for years.
- 30:04Well, I hope these points are helpful
