Athlete Devotionals: October 25 – I Cannot Come Down
Nehemiah 6:3 (NIV)
"So I sent messengers to them with this reply: 'I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?'"
Biblical Context
Nehemiah’s enemies repeatedly try to lure him away from the wall-building project under the pretense of a meeting, actually intending harm. Nehemiah recognizes the distraction for what it is and refuses, not out of stubbornness, but because he understands the real cost of stepping away from significant, unfinished work at a critical moment.
