- 1:14Speaker 3: You got my god, Baron Davis oh Man. So let's
- 1:19Speaker 3: get into this. So we're gonna We're gonna have a
- 1:21Speaker 3: couple of different segments in this in this conversation. The
- 1:23Speaker 3: first segment is we're gonna ask you questions and they're
- 1:26Speaker 3: all related to credit. First question is a true or false?
- 1:30Speaker 3: So you got fifty to fifty chances on this. The
- 1:32Speaker 3: higher your income, the better your credit score.
- 1:36Speaker 4: That's false.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Yes, that is false, ladies and gentlemen experience. Yes, that
- 1:45Speaker 3: is false. You know, just because somebody makes a lot
- 1:46Speaker 3: of money doesn't necessarily mean they have the best credit. True. False.
- 1:50Speaker 5: An excellent credit profile can translate into big financial savings.
- 1:56Speaker 4: I guess ask the question again. That's a truck question,
- 2:01Speaker 4: bro true, he said truth.
- 2:02Speaker 5: I don't know say false. Yeah, Well, I'm going to
- 2:05Speaker 5: take the true answer that you said the second time,
- 2:07Speaker 5: because it's true.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Why.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Good credit can help you qualify for better interest rates
- 2:11Speaker 5: and terms on everything from credit cards to car loans,
- 2:14Speaker 5: to mortgage to business loans. Right, So if you have
- 2:17Speaker 5: a good credit profile, you'll get a better answer.
- 2:19Speaker 4: You can get yeah on a lot of those things.
- 2:21Speaker 3: All right, Multiple choice. Which of the following helps your
- 2:24Speaker 3: credit score? A on time bill payments, B A long
- 2:29Speaker 3: and diverse credit history, C using less than thirty percent
- 2:33Speaker 3: of your credit limit. D all of the above.
- 2:36Speaker 4: D all of the above.
- 2:37Speaker 5: Yes, you've been out the league for some time now,
- 2:42Speaker 5: So tell us about your approach to budgeting when you
- 2:45Speaker 5: were in the league versus how you approach budgeting now.
- 2:48Speaker 5: What's changed, whether any positive behaviors that you practice then
- 2:52Speaker 5: or negative ones that you practice that.
- 2:54Speaker 2: You got rid of.
- 2:55Speaker 4: I would say when I was in the league, it
- 2:57Speaker 4: was my life was super, super simplified, and so for me,
- 3:02Speaker 4: it was like thinking about my budgetship fit my routine.
- 3:07Speaker 4: So I spent a lot of money on CDs, movies,
- 3:12Speaker 4: movie tickets, you know, and clothes. But I would think,
- 3:15Speaker 4: you know, my routine was just so geared on basketball.
- 3:19Speaker 4: And I always say this to basketball players, and it
- 3:22Speaker 4: puts me back on track. Even now that I have
- 3:26Speaker 4: companies and payroll and rent and employees and all kind
- 3:30Speaker 4: of stuff I don't want to deal with. And so
- 3:32Speaker 4: anytime that I get kind of besides myself now as
- 3:37Speaker 4: a retired athlete, I get to get back to my
- 3:40Speaker 4: basketball routine, I would say. Now on the budgeting side,
- 3:44Speaker 4: it's just you have to be extremely, extremely organized between
- 3:49Speaker 4: your personal your business. Right.

- 5:44Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 5:48Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from El Salvador
- 5:52Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 5:56Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan just some of
- 6:00Speaker 1: the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President Donald J.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Trump's leadership. I'm Christy Noman, the United States Secretary of
- 6:08Speaker 1: Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border crossings are
- 6:13Speaker 1: at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over one hundred
- 6:16Speaker 1: thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you are here illegally,
- 6:21Speaker 1: your next you will be fine nearly one thousand dollars
- 6:24Speaker 1: a day imprisoned and deported, you will never return. But
- 6:28Speaker 1: if you register using our CBP home app and leave now,
- 6:32Speaker 1: you could be allowed to return legally. Do what's right.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Leave now. Under President Trump America's laws, border and families will.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Be protected sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and then.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Whatever family, leisure, miscellaneous. And you have to create hard numbers,
- 6:52Speaker 4: you know what I mean. When I was younger, it
- 6:53Speaker 4: was like, all right, I got a little soft buffer,
- 6:55Speaker 4: but you have to create hard numbers. And as you
- 6:58Speaker 4: get older, you have to see, aren't deleting people off
- 7:02Speaker 4: of your runner show.
- 7:04Speaker 3: If you could go back ten fifteen years, what would
- 7:07Speaker 3: you tell yourself as it relates to finances, Like, what
- 7:10Speaker 3: would you tell your younger self as it relates to
- 7:13Speaker 3: dealing with money?
- 7:14Speaker 4: So I would probably just teach the younger Baron Davis
- 7:19Speaker 4: that where you're gonna get to is really is all
- 7:22Speaker 4: about the space that you're in. Learn basketball, learn the
- 7:25Speaker 4: people around you. If you want to be in finance,
- 7:29Speaker 4: there's a finance person that works for the team. If
- 7:32Speaker 4: you want to be in marketing and media, there are
- 7:34Speaker 4: all these people around you. So I would I would
- 7:36Speaker 4: more so program the younger version of myself to be
- 7:44Speaker 4: focus on developing relationships. Relationships.
- 7:48Speaker 3: What do you think that we can do better to
- 7:50Speaker 3: educate new players and fans about credit.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Credit games, credit trivia, credit rewards. I feel like the
- 8:00Speaker 4: best way to educate is to game of five right,
- 8:05Speaker 4: And for athletes, we learn by making mistake, correct mistake,
- 8:10Speaker 4: then being successful. But we have to learn in real time.
- 8:13Speaker 5: So this is the final segment. So we heard what
- 8:16Speaker 5: you said, and we'll take a synopsis of it and
- 8:19Speaker 5: give you the feedback on what we think about the
- 8:21Speaker 5: answers from our interpretation.
- 8:23Speaker 3: So what I got from Barron is that you always
- 8:29Speaker 3: have to develop relationships, right. I feel like getting to
- 8:34Speaker 3: know you Now we're in a lot of the same circles,
- 8:36Speaker 3: and all of those circles are relationship based, but it
- 8:38Speaker 3: really is who you know, and not just who you know,
- 8:41Speaker 3: but actually developing real relationships with those people. So it
- 8:45Speaker 3: doesn't necessarily have to be the highest ranking relationship. You
- 8:48Speaker 3: don't have to have Barack Obama's phone number, but your
- 8:52Speaker 3: next door neighbor could change your life. That's the fact.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Be important.
- 8:55Speaker 5: I think a couple of things I took away from it,
- 8:58Speaker 5: Number one being the most important person in your financial
- 9:00Speaker 5: freedom is you. People always ask me what's my favorite
- 9:03Speaker 5: financial advice, and I always say it's playing for the future,
- 9:05Speaker 5: because you're gonna be older a lot longer than you're
- 9:07Speaker 5: gonna be younger. Yeah, but I'm looking at what's gonna
- 9:09Speaker 5: look like in ten to fifteen years, right, and that's
- 9:11Speaker 5: gonna be a lot different. The money's gonna slow down.
- 9:13Speaker 5: But I need to to save my lifestyle. I need
- 9:15Speaker 5: to create. And so you were looking at the future
- 9:18Speaker 5: while you were in the present. And so I think
- 9:19Speaker 5: that's something that a lot of NBA and a lot
- 9:21Speaker 5: of athletes really should really take heed too. So that's
- 9:24Speaker 5: one of those things I'm like, Hey, he really living
- 9:26Speaker 5: in bodying me. So we appreciate you coming good.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Make some noise for the legendary Baron Davis.
- 9:37Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
