- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Amharic with Fexingo! Luna: Hey Lucas! I'm so ready. Last episode we learned carrot and onion. My kitchen was getting real Ethiopian. Lucas: Nice. Today we're staying in the kitchen — breakfast time. Two very common foods. Luna: Ooh, I love breakfast. Hit me. Lucas: First up: ቂጣ. That's a type of flatbread. Say it with me: ቂጣ. Luna: ቂጣ. Lucas: Good! It's a soft, slightly sour bread. You can have it for breakfast. Luna: ቂጣ. I can almost taste it. Lucas: Now the famous one: እንጀራ. Injera. The spongy flatbread. Luna: እንጀራ. Oh, I love injera. So good with stews. Lucas: Exactly. Let's put them together with the verb መብላት, to eat. Remember from episode 23? Luna: Yeah! እበላለሁ means 'I eat'. Luna: ቂጣ እበላለሁ. Lucas: Great. Now 'I eat እንጀራ': እንጀራ እበላለሁ. Luna: እንጀራ እበላለሁ. That feels good. Lucas: Let's do a tiny scene. I'll ask you: ምን ትበላለህ? What do you eat? Luna: Uhh... እንጀራ እበላለሁ? Wait, is that right? Lucas: Exactly right! You said 'I eat injera.' Now you ask me. Luna: ምን ትበላለህ? Lucas: ቂጣ እበላለሁ. I eat flatbread. Luna: So we have two breakfast options. I'm hungry now. Lucas: Let's review all four phrases. First, the foods: ቂጣ, እንጀራ. Luna: ቂጣ, እንጀራ. Lucas: Then the sentences: ቂጣ እበላለሁ, እንጀራ እበላለሁ. Luna: ቂጣ እበላለሁ, እንጀራ እበላለሁ. Lucas: Beautiful. Keep practicing. Next time, maybe we'll go to a cafe. Luna: I'm in. Thanks Lucas! See everyone next time on Fexingo. Lucas: Bye!
